Eric Andre’s ‘Wildest Interview Yet’ On ‘The Eric Andre Show’ Lives Up To The Claim

Season 5 of The Eric Andre Show was only five weeks long (two episodes every Sunday night), but my god, what a five weeks it was. There was co-host Hannibal Buress quitting, a special “Bird Up!” with Lizzo, Grimes performing while getting “tortured” with liquid cheese by Kraft Punk, and a season-ending musical number straight out of The Muppet Movie, if one of the Muppets was an old man in a giant coffee cup costume. It’s the episode before the finale that has the internet talking, however, because although there’s been a lot of wild celebrity interviews on The Eric Andre Show, the one with Chad Johnson be the wildest.

Not that Chad Johnson, the former-Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver who changed his name Chad Ochocinco (a good Eric Andre Show character name, to be honest), but the Chad Johnson who was a contestant on The Bachelorette, Bachelor in Paradise, Famously Single, and Celebrity Big Brother UK, and now has an OnlyFans. It’s an understandable mistake, one that Andre made. He had no questions prepared for the other Johnson, but he did have footballs thrown at him, accuse of his guest of living in the “friend zone,” and then, after a nearly naked man descends from the ceiling with a gun (“You gotta support the troops”), he also strips his clothes off and… watch above.

Welcome back. In case you were wondering, yes, Andre really did drink his own pee. This was confirmed on Reddit by not-Ochocinco, who wrote, “None of this was scripted and I had no idea what was about to happen, and yes, he really drank his own piss, which I definitely did not expect lol.” Other Reddit users tried to disagree with the “Last night, Eric Andre aired his wildest interview yet” headline, but they couldn’t.

That was 2 minutes of WTF

“So you gonna Venmo me for reparations?”
Lmfao how does he come up with this shit?

I brainstormed for like 2 minutes how he could have faked peeing and drinking out of the cup before I remembered this is Eric Andre and he definitely just drank his own piss.

God bless him for being able to just pee in a cup totally nude with cameras and several people watching. I can’t pee when one dude is standing 4 urinals away from me sometimes.

I was about to argue…but then I got to the second half of the video. I concede the point.

You get to the crescendo , and your like ok, this is the bit. Then he just steps too feet over the line and onto a rocket ship of insanity.

Ron Howard’s ‘Hillbilly Elegy’ Has The Internet Thinking About What The Movie Could Have Been Like

Ron Howard’s Hillbilly Elegy arrived on Netflix today, and despite the presence of powerhouse actresses Glenn Close and Amy Adams, let’s just say that not everyone’s feeling adaptation of author J.D. Vance’s best-selling book. As Uproxx’s Mike Ryan notes in his review, the movie arrives just a little too close to the presidential election when tensions between red states and blue states are through the roof. In a nutshell, it’s probably not the best time to rollout this story.

Plus, what movie can possibly compete with real life right now? Case in point:

With Hillbilly Elegy out in the wild, Twitter users are roasting the movie with jokes on what should have been, and they definitely have some thoughts:

But it wasn’t all red-hot dunks. One user managed to find something positive to say about the Ron Howard film:

Here’s the official synopsis:

J.D. Vance (Gabriel Basso), a former Marine from southern Ohio and current Yale Law student, is on the verge of landing his dream job when a family crisis forces him to return to the home he’s tried to forget. J.D. must navigate the complex dynamics of his Appalachian family, including his volatile relationship with his mother Bev (Amy Adams), who’s struggling with addiction. Fueled by memories of his grandmother Mamaw (Glenn Close), the resilient and whip-smart woman who raised him, J.D. comes to embrace his family’s indelible imprint on his own personal journey.

Hillbilly Elegy is now streaming on Netflix.

BTS Spend The Holidays Quarantining In Their ‘Life Goes On’ Performance On ‘Corden’

This holiday season is going to look different from any other, and K-pop group BTS wants to remind fans that they’re not alone. The band brought their recently released track “Life Goes On” to The Late Late Show With James Corden to show support for listeners who are spending the holidays without seeing family this year.

The performance opens with a BTS member reading a newspaper that displays a cover story about the importance of staying resilient during the pandemic. The camera moves fluidly between enclosed rooms, offering a snapshot of how each member has been coping while in quarantine. Eventually, all seven singers join together around a Christmas tree to exchange gifts and enjoy each other’s company.

The song arrived on the group’s record Be, which debuted last week and impressively marked the group’s third studio release of 2020. All of BTS’ hard work paid off this year as they were awarded many accolades for their music. Back in August, BTS made chart history by becoming the first Korean act to top the Billboard Hot 100 chart with their song “Dynamite.” Their visual alongside the single also saw the largest premiere on YouTube and became the fastest video to reach 10 million views in YouTube’s history.

Kane Brown, Swae Lee, And Khalid Bring Their Cool Collaboration ‘Be Like That’ To Late Night

Country star Kane Brown brought his ever-popular hit “Be Like That” to The Late Show With Stephen Colbert last night with a pre-recorded performance in front of a retro burger stand. It’s a straightforward, stand-up production, as Brown is flanked on either side by his collaborators Swae Lee and Khalid, with all three singers dressed down in smoothly coordinated outfits.

The trio previously performed the song at the 2020 Billboard Music Awards, performing to an empty theater with a full band. Thanks to the pandemic, they’ve yet to bring the song to a live audience but with Brown’s upcoming album Mixtape, Vol. 1 on the way, they may yet get a chance to perform it on tour sometime next year. They did get a chance to play at a drive-in concert in September, held at more than 200 theaters across the US.

Swae Lee, meanwhile, recently teamed up with Lil Mosey and Tyga for “Krabby Step” from the upcoming Spongebob movie soundtrack, while his Enter The Spider-Verse hit with Post Malone, “Sunflower,” recently received its third diamond certification. Khalid is working on his own album, which he told fans in September should be out early next year.

Princess Diana’s Brother Wants Everyone, But Especially Americans, To Know That ‘The Crown’ Is ‘Fiction’

The new fairy tale-busting season of The Crown has reignited interest in Princess Diana, but her brother wants everyone, especially Americans, to know that the Netflix hit shouldn’t be taken as fact. Americans believing something fake is real? Well I never!

The Crown asked if they could film at Althorp and I said obviously not,” Diana’s younger sibling Earl Charles Spencer said on Love Your Weekend with Alan Titchmarsh (the most British name ever) about the family’s ancestral home. “The worry for me is that people see a program like that and they forget that it is fiction. They assume, especially foreigners, I find Americans tell me they have watched The Crown as if they have taken a history lesson. Well, they haven’t.” True, but more history lessons should have corgis.

He continued, “There is a lot of conjecture and a lot of invention, isn’t there? You can hang it on fact but the bits in between are not fact. I feel it is my duty to stand up for her when I can… I feel there was a trust passed on. And we grew up together, you know if you grow up with somebody they are still that person, it doesn’t matter what happens to them later. So yeah, I feel very passionately that I have a role to honor her memory.”

Spencer probably shouldn’t listen to the Oh, Hello podcast then.

‘The Undoing’ Star And ‘Paddington’ Villain Hugh Grant Tells Us His Theory On Why Actors Love To Be Bad

Hugh Grant, as everyone is well aware, has proven himself to be well-versed in playing charming characters (both of the straight-up endearing variety and, sometimes, as a mischievous scamp) throughout his lengthy career. More recently, he’s leaned into more nefarious territory with not only his Paddington 2 villain but also An English Scandal and The Gentleman. While those roles were interesting ones (and it was clear that Hugh had a ball playing them), The Undoing finally gives Hugh Grant a chance to play a guy that you’re not quite sure whether you like or hate. It’s an unusual reaction to have when it comes to Hugh because let’s face it: you still liked Phoenix Buchanan even though he helped condemn a marmalade-loving bear to prison, right? Don’t lie.

For different reasons, it’s far too enjoyable to watch Hugh as accused murderer Jonathan Fraser in HBO’s The Undoing. I’m still convinced that this was inspired casting, mostly because I’ve long suspected that Hugh has been keen to stop being so likeable onscreen. One can’t deliver the most effective celebrity apology of all time (for that 1995 “scandal”) without truly understanding the human condition, so this series feels like a guilt-inducing treat in that way. Hugh plays up his character’s roguish and enchanting layers in a manner that keeps viewers wondering what the hell he’s capable of doing. This upcoming Sunday, viewers will finally find out who-really-dunnit in the series finale.

Since I’ve been a Hugh follower for decades — enjoying not only his romantic heroes, but the occasional romantic anti-hero (“charming, witty, notable fuckwit,” Daniel Cleaver from Bridget Jones’s Diary) and even his dancing prime minister in the otherwise awful Love Actually — I did not have to be asked twice to hop onto a Zoom call with him to discuss The Undoing. I mean, come on: the series reteams Nicole Kidman and writer-producer David E. Kelley after their Big Little Lies success, but more importantly, it unites two Paddington villains in Kidman and Grant. I was in. Let the droll British charm roll.

How are things, Hugh? You look like you’re in a hotel.

Oh, I’m miserable. I’m in London. In the West End. The completely empty West End. In an empty hotel. It’s like something out of The Shining.

2020 is a Stephen King movie. Well, we are coming up on the 20th anniversary of the Bridget Jones’s Diary, in which you had an amusing fight scene. Your The Undoing fight scene is far more brutal. How did you gear up for it?

For this one? Well, I was anxious about it because there I am, an unfit doctor in his late middle age, suddenly being attacked by a young, extremely fit villain. And I don’t want there to be any danger of me looking as though I could actually take him on. He has to look like he’s pretty much won. The only thing that I can do is, well, I did become alarmingly vicious and unsportsman-like and pretty much bite his finger off.

Jonathan’s attorney sure wasn’t happy about seeing that.

Yes! [Laughs]

Should we read into Jonathan’s past after seeing that biting maneuver?

It’s certainly there to keep you wondering. Everything’s there to keep the audience there to keep thinking, “Could it be him? Surely not.” It’s very clever stuff from David Kelley.

I will say that the ensemble cast brings it. Who was most wonderful to work with?

Oh, there was no weak link. You always dread that someone’s going to be uncomfortable and not enjoying themselves. That’s very infectious, and that makes you worse, but everyone just absolutely cracked their role, and it becomes really easy, and you can sort-of riff and go off script and all those luxuries.

Did you do much improv in this series?

Yes, more in some parts than others. I did quite a bit in episode 1.

We’re not sure about Jonathan being good or bad, but there are definitely shades inside him. I’m recalling what Sons of Anarchy‘s Emilio Rivera told us about his 100+ bad guys: he remembers them all because “I put a part of myself into the bad guys.” Did you draw upon any inner darkness?

I think, yeah. This is my theory, after 60 years of existence. We are all basically evil and vile and anything that seems nice or charming is a very thin veneer that we sort-of smear over life to stop people from hating us, really. And I think that explains why audiences are automatically drawn to the villains, rather than to the good guy, and why actors are more thrilled at playing bad guys than the good guys because there’s something more viscerally true about them.

Does it surprise you that, even though you’ve stepped away from romcoms (and played a Paddington villain, Jeremy Thorpe, and a sleazy dude for Guy Ritchie) that people are surprised to see you in a role like The Undoing?

It’s a bit dispiriting because, as you’ve said, I’ve done quite a lot of things in the past five years, so [laughs] if people say, this is the rom-com guy, my shoulders slump a little bit.

Those movies are so embedded in our culture, though. Less than an hour ago, Alexandra Ocasio-Cortez quoted Notting Hill on Twitter.

Oh really, what was the context?

She was mocking Republicans for suggesting that she’s all-powerful: “Alas, I’m just a first-term Congresswoman, standing in front of a government, asking it to love working people.”

She’s terrifying! Brilliant, but terrifying.

Jonathan is not-so-terrifying. No one can truly grasp if he’s a murderer, but they do know that he’s “a dick.” How did you balance those qualities?

It’s really about coming at it from two different directions. You know, you’re supposed to, as an actor, build from within. I knew exactly who this guy was. I knew why he did everything and said everything that he does in six episodes. That’s one priority, but then there’s a whole different variety, which is to tell the story and, above all, the whodunnit mystery element. And those two priorities, those two agendas, don’t always match. What might be absolutely true about the character might foil your whodunnit or tip things the wrong way. So, it’s certainly a balancing act, so to a certain extent, a little fight between the actor and director, quote often on what to show or not show at any given moment. Does that make sense?

Yes, but Jonathan could have been savvier in presenting himself, in that he does things (like fleeing) that make him look not-innocent. As someone in the public eye, did that strike you as true to his character?

I think he looks like a murderer because, circumstantially, all the evidence is stacked against him. He couldn’t look worse, and that’s why he looks like a murderer. But I think, actually, I don’t think I agree with you. He does a decent job of presenting himself on a Connie Chung-type show and all that. He’s probably relatively successful at making a certain number of people think, “Ahhhh, you know, he’s an asshole, and he betrayed his wife, but I don’t think this guy could be a killer.” So I’m not sure I agree with you!

You do make a good point about the TV show. He does look at the camera and says he has an idea of who the killer really is. Is he telling the truth?

[Smirks] I can’t tell you!

See, I’ve seen everything but the finale, and I can’t guess who did it, but I will say that I’m afraid of Donald Sutherland’s character.

Oh, but this is marvelous. When we shot the courtroom scene, every day on the stand with a new person being filmed, at the end of the day the assistant director used to say to all the assembled extras, “Okay guys, who do you think today did this crime?” Every day, they had a different answer, so it’s a great credit to David Kelley’s balancing act there. A cunning strategy.

On a public-relations note, you are very good at Twitter. You talk back to the trolls and have no problem doing so. Do they hit you as hard as it seems like they do?

In ways, yes. Especially when I was sort-of making an effort to prevent Boris Johnson from joining the government last year. The level of trolling was quite alarming. Whether those are people or bots or sock puppets, I don’t know, but it’s quite shocking. It was particularly shocking for my entirely innocent wife. That’s beyond the pale, when they go for your family.

Are they bringing up the past, too? You know, the… incident.

Oh, that’s their main weapon. That’s why I tweeted my mugshot, like, “Let me help you out here, boys, this will save you some time from having to look it up. Here it is, now you can spend more time with your mummies.”

We are out of time, so here’s one final question: did you and Nicole Kidman ever discuss who made the better Paddington villain?

Welllll…we never discussed that, but I think Paddington was very much with us on this. In some ways, I like to picture this whole series as the kind-of prequel to Paddington. This is how the two Paddington villains became who they were.

HBO’s ‘The Undoing’ finale airs on Sunday, Nov. 29 at 9:00pm EST.

Donovan Mitchell Can’t Wait To Continue Growing With The Utah Jazz

Donovan Mitchell is going to be with the Utah Jazz for at least five more seasons after inking a max extension with the club over the weekend, with a reported player option on the fifth year in 2025-26.

It’s the continuation of what has been a rather meteoric rise to stardom for Mitchell, who was picked 13th overall in the 2017 NBA Draft before emerging as a Rookie of the Year candidate and, this past season, earned his first All-Star selection. Mitchell has steadily increased his productivity and efficiency in each of his three seasons in the league, all while taking on a hefty workload as the Jazz’s primary offensive weapon.

This past season he averaged 24 points, 4.4 rebounds, and 4.3 assists per game on on a career best 55.8 true shooting percentage. In the Bubble, Mitchell raised his game even further, particularly in their thrilling playoff series with the Nuggets in which he averaged 36.3 points, 5.0 rebounds, and 4.9 assists per game with a 52.9/51.6/94.8 shooting split in a seven-game loss to Denver. It was some of the best basketball of his career, but didn’t end the way he and the Jazz hoped, so this offseason it’s back to work to try and get his body right and continue to build on his game.

On Monday, Mitchell spoke with Dime over the phone on behalf of BodyArmor to discuss how he’s feeling after his extension, how the start to his career has exceeded all expectations, what the Jazz can takeaway from their latest playoff experience, wanting to win a title in Utah, what he is working to add to his game this offseason, and his upcoming sneaker collaboration with BodyArmor that will be given away to 100 fans.

Obviously it’s been a big week for you. What does it mean to lock this extension in and make sure you’re with the Jazz for the foreseeable future?

Yeah, yeah, I’m truly excited. I think the big thing for me was, you work so hard to get to a moment like this — everybody says you work to get drafted, to work your hardest, and my goal hasn’t changed to win a championship. For this to happen, to be able to provide for my family for life, I think it’s something that really stands out to me. Being able to work with the Jazz and continue to build on what we’ve been doing and try to go out there and win a championship speaks volumes to me, and I’m excited to get going.

You mention the opportunity to provide for your family. Coming from where you were picked at the end of the lottery to now, when you think back to Draft night, could you have imagined this trajectory you’ve been on just three years down the road?

I think I felt like I eventually would’ve gotten to this point, but this soon, I don’t think I would’ve — if you would’ve told me on Draft night that by Year 4 I’d be in this position, I don’t think I would’ve believed you. I think it was something I wanted to work to, but this trajectory that I’ve been going on has been special. At the end of the day I haven’t done anything that I’ve wanted to accomplish as far as winning a championship. That’s the end goal for me and the team and I still have a lot more work to do, but I’m extremely blessed to be in this position.

You’re coming off a Bubble experience where, that was one of the best series we got to watch, and obviously it didn’t end the way you wanted it to. But what do you takeaway from how you guys played in the Bubble and that series as you go forward and you guys like get Bojan back to try and take that next step this season?

Yeah, I think the biggest thing for us is we saw Bojan’s impact when he wasn’t there. Obviously we were up 3-1 and we had the chance to seal but we didn’t, but having him back I think for us offensively is a huge piece. You add a 20 point per game scorer and in the clutch is one of the greatest in the game right now. So for us, just continuing to build on what we have. The Bubble really showed what guys can do and showed where we need some work at, and I think we addressed some of those things in the offseason and I think we’re ready to get going and ready to pick up where we left off and get ready for the regular season.

It’s obviously a condensed offseason and you have to balance rest with putting in the work you normally would to improve your game. How are you going about that in trying to make sure you’re working towards a season that’s starting soon but also getting your body right and taking some time off?

Yeah, I think the big thing for guys like myself who have been in the Bubble is just trying to find ways to continue to take care of your body. Getting work done, finding ways to make sure that you’re on top of it 100 percent, because at the end of the day, we have a quick turnaround coming up. You look at what’s happened in the NFL with the quick turnaround guys are getting hurt. So you understand that’s the reality and we’ve got to make sure you find every way possible to prevent that. Whether it’s extra body work or maintaining your body even more on a certain basis. I think that’s the biggest thing for me, and I’ve been putting in that extra work off the floor. Everybody talks about the work you put in on the court and all that and in the weight room, but it’s the stuff you do off the court that really helps you get to that next level and helps you not just for December and January, but when we get into the March, April, May, June, July that your body’s conditioned and ready to go.

For you, in your game you’ve seen improvement every year in production and efficiency. What’s the focus for you on the floor this offseason and trying to make sure you’re able to elevate your game once again in Year 4?

Still just becoming a better playmaker. I think I showed glimpses of that in the Bubble, but being able to do that on a more consistent basis. I think one thing for me, it’s not just scoring, it’s for myself finding ways to get guys open. Drawing the double, getting off the ball. Having more of a presence on the defensive end and being more of a leader than I have, I think. I’ve taken those slight steps in the right direction but there’s definitely more I can do. So that’s where I’m looking to improve this offseason.

You’ve got your new sneaker out with the D.O.N. Issue #2 and this collaboration with BodyArmor for a giveaway to fans. I remember talking with you at All-Star in Charlotte when your first shoe was just coming out, and what does it mean to have another edition of your sneaker out and to do a collaboration like this with another partner in BodyArmor for the fans?

BodyArmor

Yeah, I think it’s no secret what D.O.N. stands for — Determination Over Negativity. We’ve worked adidas on that, but I think being able to partner and do another collab with another partner of mine who stands for the same thing, I think, makes it special. You know, not just with what I do on the court, but off the court as well. Like I said, it’s not just what you do on the court and in the weight room, but it’s how you hydrate, how you take care of yourself. And I think BodyArmor is the peak sports drink and on pace to be the peak sports drink by 2025. So for myself finding ways to grow and get better, and this partnership and collaboration that we’ve done with adidas and BodyArmor is another representation of the hard work that’s been put in, not just by myself, but on both sides that we’re going to continue to do. And I’m excited to put this collab out and have everybody see my favorite colorway coming out inspired by my favorite flavor, Tropical Punch. Like I said I’m really excited for this and fans will be to when this comes out. That’s really where that collab for me is really special. It’s all of the things I pride myself on and I think my partners feel the same exact way.

Something I’ve really enjoyed about your line the last two years is how much color you put into your shoes and personality you put in. How important was that to you when you talk about colorways? Cause you do have a lot of colorways that are really bright and stand out, while a lot of times the first ones to come out are like, black and white.

That’s how I was as a kid, you know, growing up. That’s just how I was. Loved the bright colors, the bright colored shoes. So now that I’m in a position to have my own, just for me continuing carrying on the same message and energy I had as a kid. Being able to do that with adidas and now BodyArmor with our collab was very important for us to keep with the fluorescent colors and different varieties of colors on the shoe, but also base it off of my favorite flavor which is Tropical Punch and I think we did a great job of that.

Diddy Once Mistook Jeff Tweedy For A Grammys Usher And Demanded His Programs

Wilco leader Jeff Tweedy has proven to be a delightful late-night talk show guest in recent years, whether he’s promoting Wilco material or his own solo work. He popped up again last night on Late Night With Seth Meyers, where he told the story of the time Diddy mistook him for an usher at the Grammys.

Tweedy told the story through laughter from himself, Meyers, and some off-camera Late Night staff. Meyers said the tale took place at the first Grammys ceremony Tweedy attended with Wilco, which would have been the 41st Annual Grammys in 1999, where Mermaid Avenue was nominated for Best Contemporary Folk Album. Tweedy was standing outside the bathroom holding a stack of programs belonging to his Wilco bandmates and their guests when Diddy approached him. Tweedy said, “P. Diddy walked up to me and he thought I was an usher handing out programs. He tapped the programs that I was holding with a cane. He’s like, ‘Give me one of those.’ I’m like, ‘No, they’re mine.’ It didn’t escalate, thank goodness.”

Speaking of the Grammys, the Recording Academy is set to announce the list of 2021 nominees this morning, so keep an eye on Uproxx to find out who is up for what awards.

Tweedy also performed “Gwendolyn” on the show, so check that out below and watch Tweedy chat with Meyers above.

Denzel Curry Plans To Make Bad Music Because He Hates Rapping Now

On the surface, it always seems like being a rapper is a dream job. You get thousands of fans screaming for you at shows, members of the opposite sex suddenly find you very attractive, and it sure beats having a boss, right? However, over the past year, we’ve seen how much more stressful it can actually be than we think; live entertainment is shut down, flagging their income, while the complex ins-and-outs of the record business can make actually getting paid something of a nightmare. And those adoring fans can turn on you over a tweet or one bad song. It’s enough to make you hate rapping.

That’s what seems to be the case for Denzel Curry, who took his frustrations to Twitter in a vent session that found him railing against reporters whose interview questions seem more interested in XXXTentacion than Denzel, fans’ fickle attitudes toward recent rappers’ deaths, and, of course, the music industry that seems to take more than its fair share before the artist sees a dime. In fact, he outright said it: “I hate rapping. I watched my hobby that I did in my room become something I can’t even enjoy anymore because everyone has a opinion.”

He may have a solution, although it seems a little unorthodox. “I’m going make bad music so you can understand how much work it is a making good music,” he wrote (is that what Kanye’s been doing?). “This music industry is bullshit I gotta play a stupid game for me to succeed it’s not about the music anymore if it was you’ll hear a balance of conscious rap along with everything else being played today.”

Fans and friends, such as popular vlogger Anthony Fantano, chimed in to send words of encouragement, but it seems Denzel’s drained. “That spark is dimming,” he replied to one such comment. Although fans were disappointed, Denzel has previously expressed his wish to retire after a few more albums. The grass may seem greener on his side of the fence, but that may only be because we don’t know how much work it really takes to keep it that way.

Check out more of Denzel’s tweets below.

Marina — “Man’s World”

With her first single of 2020, Marina has reflected on all the death and destruction she’s seen in recent years. To her, they all point back to one thing: living in a man’s world. About the thought-provoking single, Marina said: “The original idea for the song was to write a snapshot of how women and LGBTQ+ individuals have been subjugated and discriminated against throughout history going back to the Salem witch trials, where any person who was deemed abnormal or slightly alternative was singled out. Those kinds of patterns are still present in society.”

Ava Max — “My Head & My Heart”

Returning this week after her record’s positive reception, Ava Max shared the electronic banger “My Head & My Heart.” Over an exuberant and heavily-layered beat, Max sings of reflecting on a past relationship and feeling relieved that she made the right choice to leave.

It examines how subtle moments of emotional uncertainty or exuberance can sometimes serve as false negatives or false positives. The song ultimately calls to attention the importance of being aware of these internal signals and being more long-sighted when evaluating who you choose to give love and meaningful attention to in an age of distraction.”
