What’s On Tonight: ‘Canine Intervention’ And ‘Ginny And Georgia’ Bring All The Feels To Netflix, ‘Snowfall’ Returns To FX

Canine Intervention (Netflix series) — Bridgerton, this ain’t, and it certainly differs from most of Netflix’s other offerings of late. I didn’t even expect to be reeled in by this series about a California-based K9 dog trainer, Jas Leverette, as he helps owners with their “problem dogs.” Instead, I imagined that this would be an unbearable watch that would make me weepy while wishing that I’d never clicked, but something about this trailer made me suspect differently, and I’m glad to have given it a chance. The charismatic Jas transforms the lives of several dogs, beginning with Lady MacBeth, a three-legged survivor who suffered a gunshot and stood as the very essence of Jas’ motto, “It’s never the dog’s fault, it’s always human error.” These are uplifting journeys for this dog and many others, who received their second chances and worked tirelessly to achieve stunning transformations in the process. Jas’ holistic approach to training works surprising benefits for the humans involved in these stories, too.

Ginny & Georgia (Netflix series) — This one’s got some heavy Gilmore Girls flavor with angsty and awkward Ginny feeling far more emotionally mature than her mom, Georgia Miller. They’re putting down roots for a normal life, but there’s plenty of bumps along the way, and apparently, there’s a lot of carpool and Kombucha to be had.

Snowfall: Season 4 Premiere (FX, 10:00pm) — The John Singleton-co-created series returns for the Season 4 premiere, and the show picks up with Franklin reemerging from his near-grave. In doing so, he aims to regain control over his empire prevent an all-out war of drug violence in the mid 1980s, Reagan-era streets of America.

Riverdale (CW, 8:00pm) — Archie, Betty, Veronica and Jughead are all Riverdale High teachers, which is strange but doesn’t even scratch the Top 10 of strange happenings on this show.

Nancy Drew (CW, 8:00pm) — Nancy and the Drew Crew face a new challenge, and George is acting awfully strange with Nick not liking it one bit.

Resident Alien (SyFy, 10:30pm) — Alan Tudyk (Firefly, Rogue One) is an alien, Harry, who’s pretending to be a doctor. This week, Harry receives a surprise visitor that introduces him to the concept of marriage. Uh oh.

Jimmy Kimmel Live! — Jennifer Connelly, Kevin Garnett, Tobe Nwigwe

The Late Show With Stephen Colbert — Arsenio Hall, Celeste

The Tonight Show With Jimmy Fallon — Awkwafina, Ava DuVernay, Chole X Halle

The Late Late Show With James Corden — Stanley Tucci, Pentatonix

Late Night With Seth Meyers — Ice T, Tracey Wigfield, Raghav Mehrotra

In case you missed these picks from last Wednesday:

Animals on the Loose: A You vs. Wild Movie (Netflix interactive special) — Bear Grylls digs these interactive specials, in which he allows viewers to choose his fate in a Bandersnatch sort of way. How, exactly, did he end up in the above scenario, and is it real? I can’t even begin to guess the answer to either of those questions, but I imagine that he’ll be drinking his own pee at some point. In addition, expect Bear to help track down missing animals (including a hungry lion and a mischievous baboon) from a wildlife sanctuary. Chose well (or poorly) for him because, you know, he’s doing this to himself.

Behind Her Eyes (Netflix series) — This series follows a single mother who has an affair with her boss, who happens to be a psychiatrist, and then his wife ends up in her circle of friends. Naturally, this leads to a web of secrets and lies and so much drama, all from the producers of The Crown.

Everything Coming To HBO And HBO Max In March 2021

March marks a big month for HBO and HBO Max.

The streaming services are ushering in a handful of original series and some mind-blowing movie premieres to entertain audiences. We’re talking superhero-team-ups and monster-battles levels mind-blowing. Here’s everything coming to (and leaving) the Warner Bros. streaming service this month.

Godzilla vs. Kong, (Warner Bros. Film Premiere on HBO Max)

HBO Max delivers the monster fight of the century with this latest installment in the Godzilla and King Kong franchises. Kong’s in search of his true home, aided by scientists (Rebecca Hall and Alexander Skarsgard), but he clashes with an enraged Godzilla, who’s been wreaking havoc on the planet for mysterious reasons. Millie Bobby Brown, Kyle Chandler, and Bryan Tyree Henry also star in this one.

Zack Snyder’s Justice League (HBO Max Original Film Premiere)

Zack Snyder’s long-awaited cut of Justice League arrives this month, and though we’re still not sure whether to label it a four-part mini-series or a four-hour movie, we do know DC fans are in for an experience with this one. The plot is fairly similar to Joss Whedon’s earlier film, with Bruce Wayne (Ben Affleck) joining forces with Wonder Woman (Gal Gadot) to create a team of superheroes ready to protect the world from intergalactic villains. As far as what’s new? Well, we’ll have to wait and see.

SNX DLX: Featuring New Yeezys, Jordan IV’s, A Casablanca New Balance Link Up, & ’90s-Inspired Sandals

Welcome to SNX DLX!

If you missed last week’s installment, you’re going to quickly notice that we’re rocking a new format now — no apparel and more shoes. Don’t worry, if you’re on the hunt for fresh fits we’ve still got you covered, but expect this series to now be a footwear-only space. This is probably the last time we’ll bother to make mention of it. On with the new SNX!

This week, Nike once again dominated our list thanks to new Jordan, Dunk High Top, Waffle 1, and Air Force 1 drops. New Balance also dropped another must-cop two sneaker collaboration with Casablanca, Yeezy is dropping a two colorway special of the 350, and Melissa and Lazy Oaf are taking us back to the ’90s with their throwback sandals.

If you’re looking for something more unconventional, be sure to check out the Maison Margiela and Reebok link-up, which features a split-toe version of the Classic Leather. It’s not our thing, but we figured it was worth a mention for split-toe fans — a subgroup that admittedly doesn’t get a lot of representation on SNX. Carpet Company’s special Nike SB Dunk High (which was on this list originally) has been postponed until early March, so stay tuned if you’ve been on the hunt for that.

Enough blabbing, let’s dive in.

Nike Dunk High Football Grey/ Vast Grey

NIke

If last year was the year of low-cut Dunks, please let 2021 be dominated by the Dunk High. Both of these colorways are simply beautiful, the Football Grey features a powder blue overlay over a leather upper while the Vast Grey keeps things more muted with a white leather upper and grey overlays. Why Football Grey has the name Grey in it when there isn’t really any grey (and Americans typically use “gray”) is beyond us, but hey, who cares? They’re beautiful.

If we had to choose one we’d go with the Football over the Vast, but both of these are likely to go down as two of the Dunk’s best colorways of 2021. You can bet on it.

The Nike Dunk High Football Grey/Vast Grey is set to drop on February 25th for a retail price of $110. Pick up a pair via the Nike SNKRS app when they drop at 10 am ET.

Nike

Casablanca x New Balance 237/327 Pack

Casablanca

Union LA is to dope as hell Jordan colorways as Casablanca is to New Balance. The Paris-based label has once again teamed up with New Balance for new colorways of the 237 and 327 featuring Casablanca’s signature jacquard monogram on the toe box and heel panel wrap.

At first glance, the set looks like two pairs of the same shoe as both silhouettes consist of a white airy leather upper with a green outsole, but the difference is in the sole.

The Casablanca x New Balance 237/327 pack is set to drop on February 27th for a retail price of $140. Pick up a pair at Casablanca.

Casablanca

Adidas Yeezy BOOST 350 V2 Ash Blue/Ash Stone

Adidas

Ye is dropping two new region-exclusive colorways of the Yeezy BOOST 350 this week, meaning one should be a breeze to cop and the other is going to lead you to the expensive corners of the aftermarket. In keeping with recent Yeezy offerings, these two 350s feature some pretty vibrant colorways. Well… vibrant as far as 350s good. Instead of looking like rocks or old throw up, the Ash Blue and Ash Stone colorways feature the 350’s signature Primeknit upper dripped in a cool blue or beige colorway with a yellow or red monofilament strip.

The Ash Blue is launching in the North American, Latin American, African, Middle Eastern, and Indian markets while the Ash Stone is heading to Europe, Russia, Ukraine, Asia Pacific, with a few dropping at Yeezy Supply.

The Adidas Yeezy Boost 350 V2 in Ash Blue and Ash Stone is set to drop on February 27th for a retail price of $220. Pick up a pair at the Adidas webstore or Yeezy Supply.

Adidas

Air Jordan IV Taupe Haze

Nike

Yo Nike, chill. Seriously we get that you like money, but the bar you’re setting with these fire drops all throughout February is setting you up for a hard crash. If Nike is shedding off this many dope releases this early in the year, what exactly do they have in store for the rest of it?

Featuring an all-suede upper with varying hues of taupe haze and oil grey on the paneling, and an off-white and black two-toned midsole, the Taupe Haze is yet another super dope Jordan IV colorway, expect more as this sneaker is celebrating its 30th anniversary this year. To add a bit of flare, the Taupe Haze features infrared accent work on the tongue’s underside and via the oversized Jumpman logo.

The Air Jordan 4 Taupe Haze is set to drop on February 27th for a retail price of $190. Pick up a pair via the Nike SNKRS app or select Nike retailers.

Nike

Nike Air Force 1 Pink Bag/White Bag

Nike

This isn’t the first time Nike has shown New York bodegas some love with the Air Force 1, but this is easily the best that concept has ever looked. Featuring a rose graphic on the sneaker’s heel meant to evoke the plastic rose adorned bags typical of a bodega, this iteration of the Air Force 1 is dropping in a Pink and White colorway, complete with “Have A Nike Day” swoosh smileys printed on the insole. It’s a nice little visual love letter to the city that made the Air Force 1 a cultural icon and we dig it.

Especially that Pink Bag iteration, it’s super fresh!

The Nike Air Force 1 Pink Bag/White Bag is out now for a retail price of $125. Pick up a pair

Nike

The Whitaker Group x Nike Waffle One

The Whitaker Group

A Whitaker Group exclusive, this Nike Waffle One uses Nike co-founder Bill Bowerman’s OG waffle iron sneaker process as a jumping-off point for a sneaker that both looks like it belongs in a footwear museum and is from the future. Featuring an aged midsole, a transparent mesh upper, and what appear to be leather laces, the Waffle One is clearly geared toward sneakerheads only. Despite it’s niche appeal, it’s a beautiful design brought to you by Jordan brand designer Frank Cooke.

The Whitaker Group x Nike Waffle One is set to drop on February 26th in a limited run of 500 pairs for a retail price of $120. Pick up a pair at Social Status, APB, or the aftermarket.

The Whitaker Group

CLOT x Nike Air Max 1 Kiss of Death

Nike

We’d like to note that we are absolutely not advocating for you to rock CLOT and the Nike Air Max 1 Kiss of Death without socks as these lifestyle shots suggest. Yes, the footprint is translucent along with the toe box, but that doesn’t mean you should rock a pair of sneakers sockless. Just imagine what’s going to happen on a hot day — your bare feet are going to sweat and fog up that dope translucent toe box, and you’re probably setting yourself up for some serious foot fungus risks.

Rant aside, this 15-year refresh of CLOT and Nike’s legendary Kiss of Death is pretty dope, the translucent details are a new addition and we can’t figure out why Nike thought it was a good idea to go in this direction. We’re not mad at it, but the chance to see this sneaker paired with some fire socks is just something you’ll have to witness in person. If you’re ever able to cop a pair.

The CLOT x Nike Air Max 1 Kiss of Death is set to drop on February 27th for a retail price of $142. Enter the raffle to buy a pair over at JUICE.

Nike
Nike

Melissa x Lazy Oaf Jelly Platform Sandals

Lazy Oaf

These on the other hand, you can totally wear sockless. Recyclable vegan-friendly footwear brand Melissa has teamed up with streetwear brand Lazy Oaf for a throwback platform sandal inspired by ’90s fashion. Dropping in a black, blue, pink, or green colorway, the Jelly Platforms feature a velcro clip, your choice of heart or daisy motifs, and sits atop a matching chunky midsole. A must cop for those looking to add a little Spice Girls inspiration to their fits.

The Melissa x Lazy Oaf Jelly Platform Sandals is set to drop on February 18th for a retail price of $139. Pick up a pair at Lazy Oaf.

Petey And Miya Folick Recall Their Regrettable Quarter-Life Crises On ‘Haircut’

This morning, Petey was one of the artists featured on Uproxx’s list of indie rockers to watch out for in 2021, and it turns out we didn’t need to wait long to see what he would do next: Today, he teamed up with Miya Folick for a new song and accompanying video, “Haircut.”

The synth-driven tune, which Petey and Folick co-wrote and recorded in Folick’s apartment, is a retrospective look back at the failed, spontaneous haircuts the pair have undergone. Furthermore, Folick really committed to the video, as she actually shaved her hair off for it. On the track, Folick joins Petey in his unique songwriting style: It seems like only a Petey song can reference both The Sims and Natalie Portman.

Petey (who has nearly 600k followers on TikTok thanks to his hilarious sketches, by the way) says of the track, “Haircut is a very fun song I wrote with my friend Miya about getting an extreme haircut and not wanting to talk about it. I hope you like it. it was really fun to make. We recorded it in Miya’s apartment.” Folick added, “Petey started this song and showed it to me. I immediately related. Just scroll through my feed to see a history of emotional haircuts. I really love the way it turned out. And it’s one of my mom’s favorite songs that I’ve made!”

Moneybagg Yo Joins Fredo Bang’s Debauchery In His Raunchy ‘Doin My Dance’ Video

Baton Rouge rapper Fredo Bang is having the time of his life since signing to Def Jam in 2019, enjoying the release of his debut album and a well-received mixtape in 2020. Also in 2020, he received a big assist from Moneybagg Yo, who put him on his January 2020 track “Spin On Em.” Today, Fredo gets the chance to return the favor, inviting Moneybagg to his debaucherous video shoot for “Doin My Dance” from the deluxe version of Fredo’s 2020 mixtape In the Name Of Gee (Still Most Hated).

In the video, both rappers seem to be enjoying themselves immensely, as they throw a pool party with a swarm of scantily-clad video vixens. While the women gyrate in and around the pool, the boys play a game of backyard basketball and flash stacks of cash. Fredo’s face is worth the watch alone, as his oddball dances steal the show.

Meanwhile, Moneybagg Yo’s been having a great 2021 thanks to the response to his “Time Today” single and music video, on which he vents about the stress that followed the success of his 2020 viral hit “Said Sum.” The increased scrutiny led to him being censured after joking about the pandemic and his resulting riches, so the pool party gives him another chance to blow off steam.

Watch the video for “Doin My Dance” above.

Kero Kero Bonito’s Lively Single ‘The Princess And The Clock’ Heralds Their ‘Civilisation II’ EP

It’s been nearly three years since Kero Kero Bonito released their buoyant album Time ‘N’ Place. A year later, they returned with the slow-burning, climate change-inspired EP Civilisation I. Now expanding on the same concept, Kero Kero Bonito return to tease a new era of music.

Sharing the single exuberant “The Princess And The Clock,” Kero Kero Bonito officially announce their Civilisation II EP. The upcoming three-track project was recorded using entirely vintage hardware and was inspired by art-pop pioneers like Kate Bush and Björk.

Speaking about “The Princess And The Clock,” the band said they wrote a fable to serve as inspiration:

“‘The Princess And The Clock’ is the tale of a young explorer who is kidnapped while sailing the world, imprisoned at the top of a tower and worshiped as royalty by an isolated society. Trapped in her chamber, she spends years dreaming of escaping, until one day she disappears. A legend of our own invention, ‘The Princess And The Clock’ was written before Covid emerged, though the long, lonely hours and escapist dreams its protagonist experiences will be relatable to many right now. It’s a song for anyone who has ever felt trapped, lost and alone.”

Listen to “The Princess And The Clock” above.

Civilisation II is out 4/26 via Polyvinyl. Pre-order it here.

Wolf Alice Announce Their First Album In Four Years With The Dreamy ‘The Last Man On Earth’

Wolf Alice had a hit on their hands in 2017 with the album Visions Of A Life. It was their second straight No. 2 album in the UK, it won the 2018 Mercury Prize, and it found itself on a number of year-end top-album lists. It’s been about four years since that album came out and now the band is ready to follow it up: Today, they’ve announced that their third album, Blue Weekend, is set for release on June 11.

They teased the album with “The Last Man On Earth,” which starts as a gentle piano ballad before exploding into dreamy rock bliss. Ellie Rowsell says of the song, “It’s about the arrogance of humans. I’d just read Kurt Vonnegut’s Cat’s Cradle and I had written the line ‘Peculiar travel suggestions are dancing lessons from God’ in my notes. But then I thought: ‘Uh, your peculiar travel suggestion isn’t a dancing lesson from God, it’s just a travel suggestion! Why does everything need to mean something more?’”

Watch the video for “The Last Man On Earth” above and check out the Blue Weekend art and tracklist below.

Kevin Feige Is Suggesting That ‘The Punisher’ And The Other Marvel Netflix Shows Could ‘Perhaps’ Return On Disney+

While speaking during Disney+’s virtual press tour for the Television Critics Association, Marvel Studios head Kevin Feige offered a noticeably optimistic hint about the fate of Marvel’s Netflix characters along with some clarifications. While Netflix famously canceled the darker, more edgier titles that included Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, Iron Fist, and The Punisher as Disney began to make aggressive plans for its own streaming services, there’s always been a fuzziness about how Marvel could use the characters once the rights eventually reverted back to them.

Granted, the shows were theoretically set in the MCU, but that connection was always one-way and tenuous at best, so it would make sense if Marvel just rebooted the characters. However, according to Feige, we could see some interesting movement on that front based on his answer to whether or not properties like The Punisher and Jessica Jones could return on Disney+. Via Deadline:

“I think we probably could do it, I think a lot of that stuff comes back to us. There’s always rumors online about things reverting, sometimes that’s true, sometimes it’s not, but I’m not exactly sure of the exact contracts but perhaps someday.”

The rumors that Feige is referencing include reports that Charlie Cox has allegedly been spotted on the set of Spider-Man: No Way Home and will be making his first, 100% official appearance as Daredevil in the MCU. Obviously, if the reports are true, the notoriously secretive Feige would like to keep that under wraps, which is why he’s being purposefully vague about when the Netflix rights expire. We’re talking about a guy who personally approves scenes in WandaVision. He almost certainly knows which Marvel characters are back in play, and which ones aren’t. Yet.
