Mahalia And Rico Nasty Make An Ex-Lover ‘Jealous’ In Their Futuristic New Video

British singer Mahalia switches up her style on her new single “Jealous” with Rico Nasty, taking a step away from the more organic, rootsy soul fans have come to expect toward a more pop-oriented trap-R&B-accented sound. To accompany the more futuristic sound, the video that comes with the song finds Mahalia and Rico fiddling with the sophisticated security system of their male target’s wirelessly-connected luxury home.

Likewise, Rico adopts a less abrasive flow than her usual, brash scream-rap to match the smoother, bass-heavy production. The video as a whole is half TLC’s “No Scrubs” and half cyber-thriller, a la Ex Machina, with the two women teaming up to terrorize their target, using his WiFi-compatible luxuries to drive him up the brushed-steel walls.

Mahalia is about a year and a half removed from her debut album Love and Compromise, which peaked at No. 28 on the UK Albums Chart and received glowing reviews from Clash, NME, and The Observer. Meanwhile, Rico Nasty is fresh off the release of her own debut, Nightmare Vacation, which arrived after a lengthy buildup and included the assertive singles “OH FR?” and “Own It,” as well as a girls-only posse cut remix of her breakout hit “Smack A Bitch.”

Bear Grylls Is Torturing Himself For Your Amusement In Another Netflix ‘You Vs. Wild’ Interactive Special

Animals on the Loose: A You vs. Wild Movie (Netflix interactive special) — Bear Grylls digs these interactive specials, in which he allows viewers to choose his fate in a Bandersnatch sort of way. How, exactly, did he end up in the above scenario, and is it real? I can’t even begin to guess the answer to either of those questions, but I imagine that he’ll be drinking his own pee at some point. In addition, expect Bear to help track down missing animals (including a hungry lion and a mischievous baboon) from a wildlife sanctuary. Chose well (or poorly) for him because, you know, he’s doing this to himself.

Amend: The Fight for America (Netflix docuseries) — This six-part docuseries will dive deep into the Fourteenth Amendment that’s promised liberty and equal protection for all since 1868. Along the way, expected to hear form luminaries including Mahershala Ali, Diane Lane, Samuel L. Jackson, Pedro Pascal, Yara Shahidi, and more. They’ll read speeches and writings from Frederick Douglass, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Ruth Bader Ginsburg, and Andrew Johnson; and the series welcomes hosts Will Smith and Larry Wilmore for a powerful journey through U.S. history.

Behind Her Eyes (Netflix series) — This series follows a single mother who has an affair with her boss, who happens to be a psychiatrist, and then his wife ends up in her circle of friends. Naturally, this leads to a web of secrets and lies and so much drama, all from the producers of The Crown.

Riverdale (CW, 8:00pm) — Riverdale High’s doors might close after Hiram Lodge cut their budget. This leads Toni, Alice, Archie, and Kevin to pick up the cause, and Veronica gets creative.

Nancy Drew (CW, 8:00pm) — Nancy and her crew are still fighting the Aglaeca, and Bess’ mistake could cost everyone their lives.

Resident Alien (SyFy, 10:30pm) — Alan Tudyk (Firefly, Rogue One) is an alien, Harry, who’s pretending to be a doctor. This week, he attempts to help Asta’s grandmother while traveling to the Ute Reservation, and he gains a sense of community.

Jimmy Kimmel Live! — Jason Bateman, Rosamund Pike, NAV Feat. Gunna

In case you missed this pick from last Wednesday:

Crime Scene: The Vanishing at the Cecil Hotel (Netflix series) — Director Joe Berlinger (Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil and Vile, the Ted Bundy movie starring Zac Efron and Paradise Lost, the HBO documentary trilogy about the West Memphis Three) launches this new anthology series that explores why some notorious crime locales gain their reputations. This season’s all about L.A.’s so-called “hotel death” and what happened when a young woman named Elisa Lam disappeared without a trace and after behaving bizarrely. Along the way, Berlinger seeks to crush conspiracy theories and vanquish ghost stories, although the whole affair is still a spooky ride.

Tim Burton Will Make The Jump To Netflix (And TV) With A Live-Action Wednesday Addams Series

In a rare move for the distinctively gothic filmmaker, Tim Burton will direct a live-action TV series for Netflix centered on the adventures of Wednesday Addams. The series, simply titled Wednesday, will be the first solo project featuring The Addams Family character who was a staple of the classic 1964 TV sitcom and became a fan favorite when she was portrayed by Christina Ricci in the 1991 film adaptation and its sequel The Addams Family Values. While Burton didn’t direct the 90s films, his work on Beetlejuice, Edward Scissorhands, and his pet project Frankenweenie make him a solid match to bring the live-action series to life alongside showrunners Al Gough and Miles Millar, who also have experience in the young adult genre thanks to their work on Smallville. From Netflix:

The series is a sleuthing, supernaturally infused mystery charting Wednesday Addams’ years as a student at Nevermore Academy. Wednesday’s attempts to master her emerging psychic ability, thwart a monstrous killing spree that has terrorized the local town, and solve the supernatural mystery that embroiled her parents 25 years ago — all while navigating her new and very tangled relationships at Nevermore.

MGM made a previous attempt to revive The Addams Family franchise with an animated movie back in 2019. However, that film which featured the surprisingly stacked voice cast of Oscar Isaac, Charlize Theron, Chloë Grace Moretz, Finn Wolfhard, Nick Kroll, Bette Midler, and Allison Janney made a lackluster impression on audiences and critics. With Burton at the helm and making his first major foray into live television, it’ll be interesting to see if Wednesday does a better job at scaring up eyeballs.

People from states with harsh winters are sharing tips with Texans for staying safe and warm

A polar vortex swept through the southern United States this week, bringing snow and ice storms and record low temperatures that have debilitated the region. Texas in particular has been hit hard, and with an energy infrastructure that’s not designed or prepared for such weather, millions of people have been without power for days.

People who aren’t used to cold weather, who live in homes that aren’t designed to retain heat, who don’t have winter gear to keep them warm, are struggling to stay warm without power and heat. Some don’t have water, either.

While politicians bicker over who is to blame for the dire situation, Americans are doing what they can to help. For those of us in the north, that means sharing knowledge and experience for how to stay warm when the heat goes out.

Several viral threads on Twitter have proven incredibly helpful as people offer their best tips for handling the frigid temperatures while staying safe. (Sadly, we’ve seen several deaths from carbon monoxide poisoning—running a car in a garage and heating a home with a charcoal grill are things you should avoid at all costs.)

Twitter user from Michigan @mixbecca shared this bullet list of advice:

“Okay southern friends / people without power — as someone who has lived through many, many power outages in negative temps, while the priority is to get somewhere warm if you *can* if you’re trapped at home — here of some of the things that can help:

– Layers of loose-fitting clothes will keep you warmer than layers tight.

– Put towels / blankets / etc over windows, and if you can, choose a “warm room” for all of you to stay in that you can insulate. Shove towels under doors, tape over door frames if possible.

– Keep your hands and feet warm. Put them under your armpits, wrap them if you have to. Wear a hat indoors if needed to keep your ears warm.

– If you still have water, bottles of hot water at the foot of your bed under your sheets will help warm them up / create a “cave” of warmth.

– Turn on ALL your faucets so a teeny, tiny drip is going. Trust me. You DO NOT want your pipes to burst in negative temps. It is an actual nightmare. Someone on my tl was worried about wasting water but you will waste a lot more if you flood your house.

– If you still have gas you can use, a hot pot of water on the stove will help with heat and humidity; dry air indoors in the winter is the worst. Boiling pots of water will help on both ends also.

– Pantyhose are a godsend for layering. Those bitches are WARM. Wearing them under baggy sweatpants or something will make a world of difference. We did this when Michigan got hit with an ice storm and we had no power for a week.

– If you’ve never had to layer in the cold before, some of the best things you can wear are wool, flannel, silk, and fleece. Moisture-wicking fabrics and natural fibers are ideal for under layers; wool and flannel for top, bc they insulate you but they can’t wick moisture away.

– If there are multiple levels to your house, just accept that the top floor is going to be the warmest. Heat rises, cold air sinks. If you have a particularly toasty bedroom it’s easier to convert that to a ‘warm room’ instead of trying to heat the entire house.

– Shut doors to any rooms you don’t absolutely need. Stuff towels under the doors. Got an office, a spare bedroom, etc? Seal it off so you’re not “wasting” warm air on that room.

– DO NOT: Bring a generator inside. Ever. EVER. And don’t run it in your garage, either. Generators have to run 30 ft away from your home; most northerners know this, but we can’t expect southerners to.

– During the day, you can pull towels / etc down from windows if you have bright sunlight in and — this is going to sound silly — sitting in the sun in dark-colored clothing is a godsend when you’re stuck in a freezing ass house.

– Make sure you recover windows at night if you’re able to heat foods — hot foods like tea, soups, etc will help. There’s a reason ever ~idyllic~ Christmas movie has folks coming in from the snow to drink hot cocoa and broth, lol. now is the time to live your greatest tea / soup / chili aesthetic dreams.

– If you have pets, you need to monitor them when they’re outside. Dogs can get frostbite on their paws; let them out to do their business and bring them back in. Animals are good at letting you know when they’re cold, but don’t be afraid to make blanket nests / etc for them

– If you’re desperate to block drafts and you have them, pool noodles are a godsend. Cut them in half (length-wise not like….down the middle) and wrap them in fabric and jam that shit under your door.

– For bedding, fluffy stuff goes closest to you (goal is to have pockets of warm air!). The thinner and denser the layers of bedding are, the closer they should go to the top. So if you’re sleeping with, say, a fluffy duvet and two blankets, duvet touches your skin, blankets on top.

I am literally so sorry for everyone stuck in this position. Being without power in the cold is a nightmare. You’ll feel like you’re losing your mind, and cold /hurts/.

(tldr: Multiple loose layers, block the drafts, block off as many rooms as possible, and hot drinks, if you can.)”

Others added to the list with their own tips, such as holding hot drinks against your heart to keep your core warm. Limbs will feel the coldest, but keeping the center of your body warm is more important than you’d think.

Movement warms you up, but you don’t want to break a sweat since the moisture will make you colder.

Other tips include:

– Melt snow in buckets to use for flushing toilets if your water is shut off.

– Your hot water tank holds a lot of fresh water. If your water is shut off, you can drain it from your water heater

– Line windows with cardboard for insulation. Saran wrap window edges. Bubble wrap works as insulation as well.

– Depending on the outdoor temperature, you can put food in plastic bins or coolers out in the snow.

– Stay hydrated. Your body uses a lot of energy just to stay warm, and your body regulates its temperature more effectively if it’s properly hydrated.

– Hats are a must. You lose a lot of heat out of your head.

– If you must drive somewhere, go slower than you think you should, and don’t slam on your breaks. If you lose control, don’t turn the wheel sharply. Try to stay along the rumble strip on the side of the road where you have more traction.

– Check on neighbors, especially if they live alone and/or are elderly.

– Again, don’t run the car in the garage and don’t use a barbecue indoors. If you have a gas oven, don’t use it to heat the house. Carbon monoxide poisoning is real.

People in Texas have expressed gratitude for the tips, in addition to being thankful for people not making fun of those who are struggling.

It’s heartening to see people coming together virtually to help strangers who live thousands of miles away, reaching out with sympathy and solidarity.

Anyone who’s experienced a power outage during the winter knows how brutal the cold can be. And since folks in Texas and other southern spots aren’t used to or prepared for it, handling that situation is even harder.

Hang in there, southern friends. We’re hoping this crisis passes soon for you all.

A Texas Mayor Has Resigned After Telling His Citizens To Stop Looking For A ‘Handout’ And Fend For Themselves During Winter Power Outages

After posting a fiery Facebook screed that berated Texas citizens for having the audacity to expect the government to ensure they have things like electricity and running water during a historic winter storm, Colorado City Mayor Tim Boyd has resigned. The now-former mayor first tried to walk back his statements following intense backlash from his constituents and others across the country as his rant went viral, but that attempt got him nowhere as the state suffers from prolonged power outages thanks to a literally frozen electrical grid, which is understandable considering Boyd essentially banished his citizens to death for not being strong enough to survive the unprecedented conditions. The social media post were deleted but live on via screengrabs from the local CBS Affiliate KTAB News.

“No one owes you [or] your family anything; nor is it the local government’s responsibility to support you during trying times like this!” Boyd wrote on Tuesday morning. “Sink or swim it’s your choice! The City and County, along with power providers or any other service owes you NOTHING! I’m sick and tired of people looking for a damn handout.”

Despite the fact that it is precisely the job of government officials to make sure their constituents have access to safe and working utilities, Boyd continued to double down on his rhetoric. “If you don’t have electricity you step up and come up with a game plan to keep your family warm and safe. If you have no water you deal without and think outside of the box to survive and supply water to your family,” Boyd ranted. “Only the strong will survive and the weak will perish.”

After his survival of the fittest screed, Boyd deleted the post and wrote a follow-up where he announced that he is no longer the mayor and that he would “never want to hurt the elderly” or anyone that truly needed help. Boyd claims he was simply referring to “lazy” people, and he ended his follow-up post with a not-so-tough plea. “I apologize for the wording and ask that you please not harass myself or my family anymore!”

Cardi B Insists She Really Would Let Offset And A Twin ‘Run A Train’ As She Claims In ‘Up’

Cardi B has said that she wanted “Up” to be less sexually driven than its predecessor, “WAP,” was. During a YouTube Live broadcast ahead of the “Up” video premiere, Cardi said, “The biggest inspiration for this song: I wanted a more hood song. I feel like my last song was too sexy.” That said, there’s certainly still some sexual content on the track, like one notable line on which Cardi raps, “If that n**** had a twin, I would let ’em run a train.”

While that line could be dismissed as just something fun to say on a song, it turns out that Cardi actually feels that way and that if Offset had a twin, she would genuinely engage in a three-way interaction with that pair. On Twitter this afternoon, one fan asked Cardi, “girl, if offset had a twin would you REALLY let em run a train?” She responded that she would if the circumstances were right: “Yeup …Gotta look just like him .Face and down there .”

She faced further questioning, though, as a fan followed up with, “and what if you get pregnant?” That caught Cardi off guard, as she responded, “Uuuuummmmmmm ..hold on give me a minute I gotta think bout this one .”

“Up” just debuted at No. 2 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, an achievement of which Cardi is proud. She tweeted in response to the news, “I want to say thank you to all my fans and supporters this is BIG for me .I wanted to beat my last solo single number & I over succeeded.First time a female rapper debut top 5 since Lauren. This is pop girl sh*t but I’m not pop.”

Olivia Rodrigo Is Overjoyed After Gwen Stefani Praised Her Music As A ‘Light In The Dark’

At the beginning of the year, Olivia Rodrigo was known for her role in the heavily colon-ed Disney+ show High School Musical: The Musical: The Series. But now, the singer is one of only ten musicians to have a song debut at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart and stay there for five consecutive weeks. Because of her impressive success, the singer was named alongside musicians like Dua Lipa and Phoebe Bridgers as part of the Time 100 Next list, which highlights emerging artists.

For Time‘s blurb about Rodrigo’s music, the publication tapped legendary pop singer Gwen Stefani to pen a few words. Stefani was complimentary about Rodrigo’s music, and the young singer was overjoyed at the co-sign. “i’ve been a fan of Gwen for as long as I can remember,” Rodrigo wrote on social media. “it’s so surreal to have her write about me. rlly honored to be included in this incredible group of people.”

Writing about Rodrigo’s music, Stefani praised her “confessional and intimate” sound:

“At just 17, Olivia Rodrigo is a master at turning her heartbreak into something glorious. The world is obsessed with her breakthrough single, ‘Drivers License’–which smashed streaming records when it debuted, and made her one of the youngest artists to get a No. 1 single on the Billboard Hot 100–because while Olivia’s storytelling is confessional and intimate, it’s also larger than life. By pouring her heart out with so much courage and total command of her talent, Olivia made magic.

Every line in “Drivers License” feels like it was ripped out of Olivia’s diary, each one containing a beauty and level of detail that makes you feel like you’re with her, driving through the suburbs of Southern California at night, lost in thought. Rare is the artist who can transport that way, especially at such a young age. And for anyone going through their first heartbreak, Olivia’s voice is a light in the dark, a promise that your pain can someday become a deep source of power.”

Chris Webber Will Teach A Course On Athlete Activism At Morehouse College

Throughout last summer while Chris Webber called games for Turner in the Bubble, basketball fans became familiar with Webber’s impassioned calls for action against institutional racism and his support for players like those on the Milwaukee Bucks who took a stand while the country was thrown into uprising in response to police violence.

Now, Webber is turning his sights on education. The Michigan great and five-time All-NBA forward is teaching a course at Morehouse College, an HBCU in Atlanta, on activism in sports and culture. The course will also be available through Coursera, the digital education company, where sports fans or young activists can take the class online.

In an interview with Michael Lee of The Washington Post this week, Webber referenced leaders like Nelson Mandela, Medgar Evers, and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar among those who inspired him to take this on.

“I get to honor those that make sacrifices for humanity,” Webber told Lee. “I get to honor them, make sure they stay relevant, hopefully introduce them to a whole new community of people and have it be inclusive. Have it galvanize people and not be polarizing.”

Webber told Lee that he comes to education in part through his mother, who was a teacher while he was growing up, in addition to more philosophical teachers like Malcolm X or the other aforementioned Black social leaders. Webber also previously taught a class on sport, race, and society at Wake Forest. The NBA lifer hopes that offering a recognizable and familiar face as the teacher of this new class at Morehouse will bridge the generational gap and help young people realize the potential of sport to be a force for good in society.

There Are Now Nine (9) Film And TV Projects About The GameStop Stock Fiasco In Development

While the GameStop stock surge essentially ended when prices plummeted a week after Reddit traders captured the nation’s attention by blowing up hedge funds shorting the video game retailer, the rush to turn the financial world saga into a film has only just started. Within days of the seemingly “David vs. Golitah” story blowing up on social media, two separate films were announced by MGM and Netflix, and it didn’t take long for the list to balloon from there as half of Hollywood — yes, including Billions co-creator Andrew Ross Sorkin — threw their hat into the ring. At the time of this writing, there are now nine (NINE) GameStop projects in the works, including everything from full-on feature films to limited series to documentaries. Here’s the list so far via Vulture:

  • The Antisocial Network, based on an upcoming book by Ben Mezrich.
  • The aforementioned film from Andrew Ross Sorkin for HBO.
  • A Brett Ratner-produced film based on r/WallStreetBets creator Jaime Rogozinski’s memoir Wallstreetbets: How Boomers Made the World’s Biggest Casino for Millennials.
  • A documentary from Console Wars director Jonah Tulis for CBS All Access.
  • A documentary from XTR.
  • The Wall Street Journal documentary This Is Not Financial Advice.
  • A Netflix Original movie starring Noah Centineo and written by Mark Boal.
  • A docuseries from producers Dan Cogan and Liz Garbus.
  • The limited series, To The Moon, by Pinky Promise production company.

While these projects are reportedly racing to production, they might want to hold off a bit. Even though the GameStop surge is over, the story is still evolving, as The Daily Beast reported on Wednesday that Reddit user DeepF*ckingValue has been targeted by a class-action lawsuit for allegedly defrauding investors to join into the GameStop run by pretending he was an amateur trader when he was actually a securities broker for Massachusetts Mutual. If there are more plot twists like that coming down the road, the smart bet would be to wait and see how this whole thing shakes out before gunning out an entire movie for Netflix.

SNX DLX: Featuring The Return Of The Jordan 3 Cool Grey, New Yeezy 700s And The Dior-ID Sneakers

Welcome to SNX DLX! Going forward, we’ve decided to do something a little different with our weekly streetwear roundup. Henceforth (official and fancy, right?) we’ll be axing the apparel coverage, but keeping the name. How do we cut the series in half but still justify calling it SNX DLX? Because we’re using that extra room to talk about more of the week’s best sneakers, expanding our top 5 into whatever number we need to profile all of the dopest sneakers getting launched any given week.

This week, that means we’ve got 10 kicks to share!

Fans of our apparel coverage will also have a new weekly article series solely focused on the best streewear drops to look forward to. We haven’t figured out a name for that one yet, Threads? Friday Fits? You’ll know it when you see it.

For now, let’s take a look at the dopest sneakers dropping this week.

Stüssy x Nike Air Huarache Desert Oak

Stussy

We covered Stüssy’s two colorway Huarache drop last week for the limited release and we’re taking time this week to remind you that the Air Huarache Desert Oak is getting a worldwide release tomorrow via the SNKRS app. You’re not going to want to miss this dope re-up of a classic Huarache — featuring heel clip and booty construction dipped in an earth-toned colorway with suede accents and dual Nike Stüssy branding.

The Stüssy x Nike Air Huarache in Desert Oak is set to drop on February 18th for a retail price of $120. Pick up a pair via the Nike SNKRS app.

Stussy

Nike Dunk Low Coast/Hyper Cobalt/Medium Grey

Nike

This week, the Dunk Low is getting a major drop of three dope new colorways including Coast, which combines sail and coast blue, Medium Grey, which combines variety red and grey, and Hyper Cobalt, which sports a black-toe inspired black and cobalt blue makeup. The Coast is, unfortunately, a WMN’S-sized only exclusive to which we ask Nike, “why?”

It’s 2021, just release each drop in a full-size range. Or make everything unisex and throw gender out the window.

While the latest Dunk drop doesn’t have any big-name collaborations sweetening the deal, this is a pretty solid drop by Nike and we don’t mind the Dunk being dressed in more traditional designs, as fun as the Grateful Dead and Chunky Dunkys were.

The new colorway pack for the Nike Dunk Low is set to drop on February 18th for a retail price of $100. Pick up a pair via the Nike SNKRS app or select Nike retailers.

Nike
Nike

Soulland x Li-Ning Shadow and Wind Ranger

Soulland

Denmark-based streetwear label Soulland has linked up with Chinese-based sportswear brand Li-Ning for a double sneaker collection dubbed the Shadow and Wind Ranger. The Shadow, which is available in both Men and WMNS’s sizes, features a futuristic upper full of transparent detailing and a hollowed sole unit that provides stability and shock absorption. The Wind Ranger features layered panel construction, translucent fabrics, and is, according to Soulland, lighter than the Shadow with a great energy return for runners looking for a sneaker with good feedback.

The Soulland x Li-Ning Shadow and Wind Ranger is set to drop on February 19th for a retail price of $325 and $240 respectively. Pick up a pair exclusively at the Soulland webstore.

Soulland

Air Jordan I Silver Toe

Nike

Another WMNS size exclusive, the Silver Toe is the evolution of Jordan brand’s played-out Gold Toe sneaker, swapping out the patent gold for a NASA-inspired crinkled silver. It’s the type of colorway that will elevate even the most basic fit to something infectiously stylish, thanks to its combination of shimmery silver and contrasting black leather overlays.

The Air Jordan 1 Silver Toe is set to drop on February 19th for a retail price of $170. Pick up a pair via the Nike SNKRS app or select Nike retailers.

Nike

Adidas Yeezy 700 V3 Kyanite

Yeezy Supply

As biblical as Ye’s new “Kyanite” iteration of the 700 sounds, it would appear that Ye is finally off his whole naming sneakers after biblical figures kick. Kyanite is actually an aluminosilicate mineral found in aluminum-rich rocks. Kyanite generally has a distinct blue and white gradient so Ye really nailed it with the name on this one.

With its aerodynamic design lines, the 700 remains one of Ye’s most sleek silhouettes and the Kyanite is a great addition to the shoe’s legacy.

The Adidas Yeezy 700 V3 Kyanite is set to drop on February 20th for a retail price of $200. Pick up a pair at the Adidas webstore or via Yeezy Supply.

Air Jordan III Cool Grey

Nike

Oh okay Nike, just go ahead and release new Dunks, a dope-as-hell pair of Jordan 1s, bring back one of the Huarache’s best colorways, and go ahead and close the week out by also dropping one of the most coveted colorways for the Jordan III in the sneaker’s entire existence.

Money? Who needs it? Certainly not us.

It seems almost cruel that Nike is having such a strong week immediately after Valentine’s Day (we could’ve asked for one of these as a gift, c’mon!) but here they are consistently being the hottest footwear brand in all of streetwear. We’d hate them if we didn’t love the shoes so much.

What can we even say about the Cool Grey? It’s retro, it’s got the elephant print, it’s perfect!

The Air Jordan III Cool Grey is set to drop on February 20th for a retail price of $170. Pick up a pair via the Nike SNKRS app, or select Nike retailers like Foot Locker or Atmos.

Nike

Lacoste Match Break

Lacoste

We don’t cover Lacoste’s drops often (mostly because we simply didn’t have the room in the past) but we’re big fans of the brand’s sneaker offerings, which usually pull classic 70’s tennis kicks as inspiration. Featuring a simple canvas upper with subtle pattern work, the Match Break sports leather overlays, a tapered sole, and sits atop a cream midsole and rubber outsole.

Right now the Match Break is available in three colorways. We dig the all-white and blue but the green is a little too similar to Lacoste’s iconic crocodile logo for us, which lessens the logo’s pop.

The Lacoste Match Break is available now for a retail price of $160. Pick up a pair at the Lacoste webstore.

Lacoste
Lacoste

Adidas Superstar Futuershell

Adidas

The Adidas Superstar is a hard sneaker to update, it’s one of Adidas’ most iconic and oldest silhouettes, how do you bring that to a new audience? By wrapping it in a translucent TPE shell of course!

With a combination of coral pink, blue accents, and a white base, this updated take on the Superstar brings the sneaker up to date in a creative way. It’s bit like Blondey McCoy’s translucent iteration from last week, but more sport-focused.

The Adidas Superstar Futureshell is available now for a retail price of $135. Pick up a pair at select retailers.

Adidas

The North Face EQBC Slides

The North Face

Leave it to The North Face to design a slide that looks fit for the hiking trail. The EQBC slides feature a durable outdoor-friendly rubber outsole with a mesh upper in a classic black and white colorway. Complete with velcro straps, a soft footbed, and an overall breathable design, the EQBC will pair wonderfully with any summer treks you take on the beach or a moderate trail.

While these were clearly built with the outdoors in mind, we can’t actually suggest anyone wear sandals on a hike. Unless you’re mushroom hunting, then sandals are a must.

The North Face EQBC Slides are available now for a retail price of $70. Pick up a pair at North Face stockists like Fenom.

Fenom

Dior-ID

Dior

The Dior-ID is just the type of sneaker drop that the original SNX DLX would’ve avoided. Not because it’s not dope, we actually really love the design, which feels equal parts retro and next-level luxurious. But with a price tag of over a grand, why highlight this sneaker when you can talk about another dope Jordan that’s only an eighth of the price?

The Dior-ID features a low profile design with a calfskin leather upper, canvas detailing, a lace shroud, and gilded Dior-ID branding on the lateral wall, because if you’re dropping a grand on a pair of sneakers, better let people know they’re f*cking Dior. The Dior-ID has a large selection of colorways, from classic green-white, black-white, blue-white color schemes, as well as a striking all-black or all-white model.

The Dior-ID sneaker is available now for a retail price of $1,150. Pick up a pair exclusively at Dior.
