Watch Lil Baby And Kirk Franklin Take To The Court For Their Celebratory ‘Space Jam’ Track, ‘We Win’

Let me begin by encouraging you not to believe the bad press about Space Jam: A New Legacy — I saw the film in theaters this past weekend and it more than held up to the original. LeBron isn’t quite as great as he was in Trainwreck, but it’s close! And there’s a heartwarming family angle that was missing in the original. If you like watching toons play basketball and be silly, then you’ll love the film. And if you do go watch it, keep your ears peeled for a soundtrack that’s stuffed to the brim with rappers and musical legends, partially due to LeBron’s avid love for hip-hop I’m sure.

One such soundtrack cut is Lil Baby and Kirk Franklin collaborating on the celebratory gospel track, “We Win,” and now the pair have dropped a video for it, too. Sure, there are some moments of footage from the film, but the visual also includes Lil Baby rapping from the court, Kirk playing piano courtside, and even cute clips of younger players getting their hoop on. It’s the kind of song that a move about overcoming struggle definitely needs for that joyful, final moment, and slates along other songs of the summer remarkably well. Check out the clip above.

Report: Pelicans Center Jaxson Hayes Was Tased, Hospitalized, And Arrested After A ‘Violent Altercation’ With A Police Officer

Jaxson Hayes, the New Orleans Pelicans’ reserve center who just wrapped up his second season in the NBA, was reportedly arrested early on Wednesday morning after an alleged fight with a police officer led to him getting tased and sent to the hospital. The officer in question was, likewise, hospitalized.

TMZ has the details on what happened, alleging that Hayes, the No. 8 pick in the 2019 NBA Draft, “tried like hell” to prevent the authorities from responding to a domestic disturbance at a home in Los Angeles on Wednesday. While the report indicates that the parties involved in the incident “have been uncooperative” with regards to the investigation into the disturbance, Hayes is slated to be booked on charges relating to felony battery of a police officer, as he allegedly got into a fight with the cops that led to him getting tased and the officers calling for help on their radio.

The 21-year-old Hayes was, eventually, brought to a hospital and received “treatment for minor injuries” — it is not clear exactly what injuries he might have suffered during the altercation — while one of the officers who was involved in the fracas whose condition is unknown also needed to go to the hospital.

Elton John Was ‘Shocked’ By DaBaby’s HIV Comments, Saying Misinformation Fuels Stigma

DaBaby’s comments during his controversial Rolling Loud set in Miami this weekend continue to draw reactions from every corner of the entertainment industry. After Dua Lipa, his collaborator on the hit song “Levitating,” said she was “surprised and horrified” by his words, queer rights icon and living legend Elton John has chimed in to address the harm DaBaby’s statements could cause, whether intentional or not.

John’s official Twitter account, which doubles as the account for his Elton John AIDS Foundation, pointed out how statements like DaBaby’s can “fuel stigma and discrimination,” calling them “the opposite of what our world needs to fight the AIDS epidemic.” You can read the full statement below.

We’ve been shocked to read about the HIV misinformation and homophobic statements made at a recent DaBaby show. This fuels stigma and discrimination and is the opposite of what our world needs to fight the AIDS epidemic.

The facts are:

HIV has affected over 70 million people globally: men, women, children, and the most vulnerable people in our communities.

In America, a gay black man has a 50% lifetime chance of contracting HIV. Stigma and shame around HIV and homosexuality is a huge driver of this vulnerability. We need to break down the myths and judgments and not fuel these.

You can live a long and healthy life with HIV. Treatment is so advanced that with one pill a day, HIV can become undetectable in your body so you can’t pass it onto other people.

Homophobic and HIV mistruths have no place in our society and industry and as musicians, we must spread compassion and love for the most marginalized people in our communities.

A musician’s job is to bring people together.

DaBaby responded to the backlash a few times, noting that it wasn’t his intent to insult anyone, but unfortunately, he seems to have missed the possible unintended harm that resulted from his comments. In addition, online retailer Boohooman ended its partnership with him, while him bringing Tory Lanez onstage could have legal repercussions for the Canadian rapper. All in all, not DaBaby’s best week — although he seems to be taking it all in stride.

Joe Scarborough Comes For Tucker Carlson And Laura Ingraham After They Mocked Capitol Police Over The Jan. 6 Riot

Joe Scarborough had strong word for Fox News hosts Laura Ingraham and Tucker Carlson who both mocked the testimonies of Capitol Police officers during the January 6 commission hearing. During Wednesday’s episode of Morning Joe, the MSNBC host called out the entire Fox News network for claiming to support the police while devoting a portion of its programs to tearing down the officers who described the violence and racial slurs, which they experienced while being attacked by Donald Trump supporters in the Capitol building.

Via Raw Story:

“I’m going to say, any good American that respects law enforcement, that respects men and women in blue, any good American would have been moved by what they saw yesterday, and if they instead went on and mocked the service of those men who were nearly beaten to death for simply trying to protect their country because so much was on the line on that day, then accountability, I guess, at the end of the day goes to those people and those corporate boards that allow people like that on television. It’s a disgrace to America. It’s a disgrace to the networks that they’re members of. It’s a disgrace to all of us that people like that mock the service of the men in blue who protected us in the middle of a constitutional crisis.”

“You’re listening to anybody mocking the service of these cops, you just know, they’re not good Americans,” Scarborough said towards the end of the segment.

His remarks are in reference to Ingraham and Carlson shamelessly mocking Capitol Police officers’ testimonies on Tuesday. For her part, Ingraham jokingly handed out awards for “Best Exaggerated Performance” and “Best Political Performance” while watching the officers tearfully described being attacked during the insurrection. Meanwhile, Carlson laughed at some of the officers’ statements and quipped, “It’s not Fallujah.”

‘The Suicide Squad’ Even Existing, Let Alone Being Good, Is Kind Of A Miracle

James Gunn has kind of pulled off a miracle with The Suicide Squad (not to be confused with 2016’s Suicide Squad). And I’m not even talking about the contents of the movie itself – a movie I liked quite a bit; we’ll get to that in a bit – but just the fact I can’t think of another movie quite as dreadful, and was as big a bomb as Suicide Squad, then to have a sequel that is as well made and, frankly, competent as The Suicide Squad — it’s such a unique situation.

The reason I can’t think of any direct comparisons is that movies that cost a lot of money and are huge commercial and critical flops don’t usually get sequels. What usually happens is a movie like, say, Star Trek: The Motion Picture happens – and it’s met with a tepid reaction (yes, I’m aware that over the years people have warmed up to this movie, especially the director’s cut ) and the budget is cut, they bring in a new director, and a new tone is adapted and we get The Wrath of Khan. But Star Trek: The Motion Picture isn’t dreadful. Suicide Squad is one of the worst movies I’ve seen in a theater in the last five years. And now there’s a sequel. And it’s good. (I honestly don’t know what to tell people who ask if they should watch the first movie before seeing this one. On one hand, it would help people know some of the characters in the sequel. On the other hand, people who watch the first movie are not going to want to watch another one.)

The fact The Suicide Squad even exists is only because of an unusual turn of events: Disney fires Gunn for some bad, but very old tweets. Warner Bros. immediately, and wisely, lets him pick almost whatever property he wants and then lets him do anything he wants. Disney regrets it and brings Gunn back. But Gunn decided he wanted a crack at his version of a The Suicide Squad movie and that’s literally the only reason this movie is coming out.

Plot-wise, this very R-rated movie is a difficult movie to describe because Gunn pulls the rug out from the audience numerous times. But I will say this is a movie that feels like it has actual stakes. Characters actually die. And it truly feels like no one is safe, other than maybe Margot Robbie’s Harley Quinn because I can’t see Warner Bros. agreeing to kill off one of their most popular characters. (Though, when I interviewed Gunn he swore that if he wanted to kill her off, he could have.) Literally everyone else in this movie is fair game to not make it to the end. Which adds a sense of worry and dread for the characters we find ourselves latching onto, which is truly rare for a superhero movie outside of, “Well my contract is up and we have to do something with this character I’ve played for 10 years.”

There are a lot of characters in this movie, which I worried would be “too much,” but Gunn, with one of his rug pulls, finds a clever way to alleviate that problem pretty early in the movie. A team of super-powered prisoners – which now includes Idris Elba’s Bloodsport and a talking shark voiced by Sylvester Stallone – are offered a lesser sentence in exchange for going to an island off the coast of South America to infiltrate a destroy a laboratory that is studying a new weapon that winds up being Starro. Now, see, just that alone: getting to watch Starro of all villains ponce across the movie screen was … well it’s something I didn’t really ever expect to see. (If you’re not familiar with Starro, it is a giant alien starfish, who first appeared way back in 1960, who can produce baby starfish that attach to people’s faces and control their minds.)

Again, The Suicide Squad is the polar opposite of the movie that came before. Just the fact it’s, again, “competent,” and also “entertaining,” alone put it in direct opposition to its predecessor. But at 132 minutes, it does run out of some steam in the second act. For the first hour of The Suicide Squad I found myself on the edge of my seat, truly feeling like I was watching something fresh. A superhero movie that wasn’t quite like anything I’ve seen before. Then after that first hour it all becomes a little more conventional and those feelings faded a bit, but The Suicide Squad ends on a high note with a pretty stellar final battle against Starro. Watching a team of heroes (or villains, I guess) battle a giant starfish is … unique.

Again, I’m still mystified this movie even exists. It really shouldn’t, but here it is. And it comes at you with such swagger, almost to say, “Yeah, we know our last movie was terrible, what of it?” But I’m sure glad it does exist. The Suicide Squad finally gets its redemption.

‘The Suicide Squad’ will be released on August 5th in theaters and stream via HBO Max. You can contact Mike Ryan directly on Twitter.

If Young Thug Had The Same Amount Of Money From Any Other Job, He Would Retire

As a rapper, Young Thug is probably best known for redefining what the dominant vocal delivery style should sound like, bending and kneading his voice into new configurations and cadences throughout the past decade, upending conventions, and setting a new standard for every artist that followed. While some traditionalists saw this as blasphemy, it’s actually an extension of his love for the art, as he makes plain in a new (and rare!) profile in Rolling Stone.

Rather than disregarding or disrespecting the conventions of rap, he actually says he’s “addicted” to the craft, comparing it to working a day job. “If I had a lawn service and I made the money that I got right now, I’d retire,” he admits. “If I had the money that I got right now from any other thing, I’d retire. I got enough money just to chill.” However, he says, he’s having so much fun that, “I can’t retire from rap music, I like rap too much.”

Of course, he’s also found other ways to occupy his time during the global pandemic. Although it was recently reported he and Gunna got J. Cole into Call Of Duty, he reveals just how deep the love goes. “Now I’m in this motherf*cker changing the passwords on my sign-in,” he jokes. “I done got so f*cking tied into video games, I’m telling my son, ‘Don’t touch my f*cking controller, bro.’”

Meanwhile, his ties to his first love became more apparent this week as he made his debut on NPR Music’s Tiny Desk Concert series, premiering songs from his upcoming album Punk. You can catch that here.

Kevin Smith Did Not Hold Back On The Angry ‘Masters Of The Universe’ Viewers Who Think The Show Is Too ‘Woke’

Kevin Smith is currently going through what The Last Jedi director Rian Johnson has been dealing with for years: angry fans and review bombing. Mark Hamill can’t catch a break. The Clerks director’s new Netflix show, Masters of the Universe: Revelation, is a “risky, ambitious, and ultimately worthy He-Man sequel,” but you wouldn’t know it looking at his Twitter mentions. A subset of vocal viewers are agitated that Masters of the Universe: Revelation isn’t what they thought it would be (here’s a spoiler-y explanation).

Smith was asked about the backlash in an interview with Variety. “I know there’s some people that are like, ‘Hey, man, this show’s woke.’ I’m like, ‘All right, great, then so was the original cartoon we’re f*cking sequel-izing.’ Go watch it again. There are girls in every episode. Deal with it.” Smith added that it’s “interesting” to see who is a “hardcore fan. Because anybody that’s like, ‘Oh, man, there’s not enough He-Man’ or something like that, doesn’t understand the show that we based it on. There were episodes where he lost the sword and he never became He-Man. It wasn’t like He-Man always saved the day. His friends helped him. That was the f*cking point of the show.”

To bring it back to Hamill, he initially disagreed with Johnson’s version for Star Wars. But he later admitted, “Having seen the movie I was wrong.” That’s something angry Masters of the Universe fans should keep in mind. Just because the show isn’t what you expected, it doesn’t mean you need to spend the next month tweeting, “kevin smith lied.” There’s plenty of other things to be mad at Smith about, like the worst tweet ever.

2021 NBA Mock Draft: The Final Check-In Before The Big Night

The NBA never sleeps and, a little more than a week after the conclusion of the 2020-21 season and the crowning of the Milwaukee Bucks as champions, the league has a major event on the docket Thursday. The 2021 NBA Draft arrives after a short cycle, and the rumor mill is, of course, churning in earnest. With a draft class that inspires mixed reactions from informed observers, there is considerable intrigue as to what might take place on Thursday, including the potential for utter chaos.

If nothing else, it is usually safe to project a considerable impact on the league’s landscape that will be driven by what transpires on Draft night. That could simply mean that the order of prospects, paired with teams, could deliver considerable fallout, but trade winds are already blowing and considerable movement, up and down the board, could be in the offing. Before the Detroit Pistons are officially on the clock, Dime checks in with a final mock draft, knowing full well that one wrong turn can (and likely will) flip the script.

And we’re off.

1. Detroit Pistons – Cade Cunningham (G/F, Oklahoma State)

Cunningham has been No. 1, at least for me, during the entire cycle. It is at least plausible that the Pistons throw a curveball on Thursday, either by trade or a shocking selection, but every point of intel points to Cunningham as the No. 1 pick. He’s the best prospect in the class and should be here.

2. Houston Rockets – Jalen Green (G, G League Ignite)

This isn’t as easy of a decision as Cunningham should be at No. 1 overall. In the same breath, Green is easily the player most associated with the No. 2 pick. If he hits, Green could be a primary offensive option and his work in the G League, at a very young age, was quite impressive. There are nits to pick, but he’d be a totally reasonable No. 2 pick, either for Houston or another team in a trade.

3. Cleveland Cavaliers – Evan Mobley (C/F, USC)

Cleveland is in a bit of a weird spot. Their best prospects are two smaller guards (Collin Sexton, Darius Garland) and they just used a first-round pick to acquire Jarrett Allen, with Larry Nance as their best established veteran. With Evan Mobley and Jalen Suggs as the top two remaining players, they are going to have at least some fit question regardless, but Mobley is the superior prospect in my view. Beyond that, he is the guy most linked to the Cavs if they stay put here and both Cunningham and Green are off the board.

4. Toronto Raptors – Jalen Suggs (G, Gonzaga)

Suggs is the end of a tier for many observers, and some view him as a top two or three pick. For me, he’s a solid No. 4 overall. The Raptors could trade this pick to go in several different directions but, if I have to make a pick for Toronto right now, it is Suggs. He’s the best player available and could fit in well with what the Raptors have in house without the pressure to carry an organization on his back.

5. Orlando Magic – Scottie Barnes (F, Florida State)

Personally, Barnes isn’t No. 5 on my board, but he’s in the same tier. Moreover, this is a mock draft and not a big board, with league observers seemingly quite interested in Barnes. He would definitely fit the archetype that has intrigued the Magic in the past, if nothing else. Orlando could also be a trade team, and they have another pick coming in short order.

6. Oklahoma City Thunder – Jonathan Kuminga (F, G League Ignite)

It’s been a topsy-turvy cycle for Kuminga. After his first G League game, some vaulted him to the top of the pecking order. Once reality set in, he was seemingly slotted at No. 5 for most, but there is a real split in his evaluation. He’s quite raw at this stage, but the Thunder can afford to be patient. They could go elsewhere here, but Kuminga does make sense if they buy his shooting long-term.

7. Golden State Warriors (via Minnesota) – James Bouknight (G, UConn)

The Warriors are fascinating in that they could trade their picks and/or they could also fire on a few different prospects. Bouknight is a player that the league is higher on than I am, but his appeal is clear. He is a potential multi-level scorer that is more polished than many prospects in this range. If the Warriors want to add another shot creator, he would be a logical choice in some respects.

8. Orlando Magic (via Chicago) – Franz Wagner (F, Michigan)

First, Wagner is a totally reasonable pick in the top-10. Second, this would be pretty funny. The Magic really love their forwards/bigs with length and defensive acumen. Wagner fits that bill, but he does bring the potential to shoot it and function as a secondary creator in some looks. Orlando is believed to be looking at wings, particularly if they go with Barnes at No. 5, and Wagner is arguably the best of the bunch, even if he trends toward combo forward status.

9. Sacramento Kings – Alperen Sengun (C/F, Beskitas)

Even with a relatively new front office, the Kings are the Kings. They could do anything. Sengun is a darling of statistical models, and there is a thought that Sacramento could lean into the numbers more than other front offices. There are huge questions about how his game may translate to the NBA, but the Kings don’t have their frontcourt locked up long-term, particularly if Richaun Holmes leaves in free agency.

10. Memphis Grizzlies (via New Orleans) – Josh Giddey (G/F, Adelaide)

The Grizzlies moved up seven spots and, in short, the deal they made with the Pelicans makes a lot more sense if they have a player or two in mind at No. 10. One of those prospects is thought to be Josh Giddey, who is a big-time passing prospect with great size at 6’8. He isn’t a name that casual observers will know a lot about (although maybe this will help), but Giddey is a high-ceiling player with great feel that could unlock some things in Memphis alongside Ja Morant.

11. Charlotte Hornets – Kai Jones (C/F, Texas)

Charlotte is certainly in the market for a big, and that makes this pairing. Jones seems to think he is more of a forward than a true center but, regardless, he has intriguing tools and might be a lot of fun with LaMelo Ball long-term. The Hornets could also go with wing depth and that wouldn’t be strange in the least.

12. San Antonio Spurs – Moses Moody (G/F, Arkansas)

The Spurs are always impossible to figure out around the draft. They could trade up. They could trade down. They could trade out. They also stay put more often than not, and Moody would be a heist at No. 12 overall. It’s a best player available pick and every team could use a two-way wing prospect with upside.

13. Indiana Pacers – Davion Mitchell (G, Baylor)

Mitchell’s stock has endured quite a journey, but it seems to be settling in to the late lottery. His supporters are very enthusiastic, in part because of Mitchell’s performance during Baylor’s title run. His detractors point to age, shooting inconsistency, and general uncertainty offensively. The Pacers might not be his landing spot, but there are rumblings about a backcourt shake-up there and Mitchell would be interesting to pair with a new coaching staff.

14. Golden State Warriors – Chris Duarte (G/F, Oregon)

Duarte is very old. If he was 21, he’d probably be a consensus top-10 guy. Instead, he’s 24 and polarizing. The Warriors are heavily linked to him, though, and he could make sense if Golden State is trying to straddle the line between present and future.

15. Washington Wizards – Corey Kispert (G/F, Gonzaga)

Washington quietly had very little shooting last season. Yes, Bradley Beal and Davis Bertans can fill it up, but the Wizards took shooting-challenged prospects in the last two lotteries, while Russell Westbrook is Russell Westbrook. Kispert can, and will, shoot at a high level. Some might even view him as the best prospect available, even if I wouldn’t quite go there.

16. Oklahoma City Thunder (via Boston) – Jalen Johnson (F, Duke)

Ask 10 people about Jalen Johnson. You might get 10 different answers. He’s a strange yet intriguing prospect with pre-college pedigree and undeniable talent. That sounds like a job for Sam Presti.

17. New Orleans Pelicans (via Memphis) – Trey Murphy (F, Virginia)

As soon as New Orleans made their trade with Memphis, the reports came that they could move the pick again. As such, this is very tentative. Murphy is a late-rising prospect who can really shoot it, and he doesn’t take anything off the dribble. The Pelicans need floor spacing and defense around Zion. Murphy definitely does one of those things (shooting) and might do the other as well.

18. Oklahoma City Thunder (via Miami) – Keon Johnson (G, Tennessee)

Another pick, another upside bet for Oklahoma City. Johnson was the standout in athletic testing at the Combine, and he should be able to defend right away. Offensively, it’s a different story, with Tennessee not doing him any favors and Johnson struggling to prove much of anything at the collegiate level. He’s certainly a Lottery-level athlete, and the Thunder can afford to be patient.

19. New York Knicks – Jaden Springer (G, Tennessee)

New York has been linked to every point guard under the sun, and Springer isn’t a point guard. What he is, though, is a talented perimeter player that defends at a high level. As noted above, Tennessee was a difficult scouting environment this season, but Springer’s fans would point to untapped potential in droves.

20. Atlanta Hawks – Jared Butler (G, Butler)

Travis Schlenk and the Hawks could use this pick to do just about anything. Atlanta is in need of a backup point guard, but they could also go with a best player available choice, or they could consider moving the pick for present-day help after a run to the NBA’s final four. In Butler, they theoretically plug a hole behind Trae Young, but he is also a potentially high-value role player with his shooting and defensive aptitude. It wouldn’t be sexy, but it makes a ton of sense if the Hawks stay put.

21. New York Knicks (via Dallas) – Usman Garuba (F/C, Real Madrid)

Garuba reportedly has a sky-high buyout that could complicate his selection. Still, he is worthy of a top-20 investment and the Knicks get a steal here from a value standpoint. Garuba’s offensive game is admittedly underwhelming, but he is a potentially dynamic defender and the Knicks would seemingly place a premium on that given who their head coach is right now.

22. Los Angeles Lakers – Cam Thomas (G, LSU)

Duarte is the home run for the Lakers as a win now player in the Draft. With both Duarte and Trey Murphy unavailable, Los Angeles turns to the backcourt and finds a certified professional scorer. Thomas can create his own shot with the best of them, and the Lakers have some uncertainty on the perimeter outside of that LeBron fella.

23. Houston Rockets (via Portland) – Sharife Cooper (G, Auburn)

Cooper’s stock is absolutely all over the place, to the point where some reporting points to a potential slide out of the first round. Houston can afford to take a swing with three picks, though, and Cooper brings a dynamic they don’t currently have as an elite live-dribble passer and off-the-bounce creator. If he can shoot, he will outperform this pick. That’s a big if.

24. Houston Rockets (via Milwaukee) – Ziaire Williams (F/G, Stanford)

The Rockets fire away with another high-upside bet here and, truthfully, it doesn’t seem all that likely that Houston will make all three picks where they are right now. Still, we aren’t projecting trades, and Williams slips here after a dreadful season at Stanford. He is still intriguing, though, with a high release point and shooting pedigree.

25. Los Angeles Clippers – Miles McBride (G, West Virginia)

McBride is sometimes compared to Patrick Beverley. He’s a tremendously impactful defender at 6’2 who changed games on a regular basis for West Virginia. Offensively, he might not have the juice to be an every-play creator at lead guard, but he’s been a quality off-ball shooter in the past and he can handle the ball when needed. That sounds like a fit on a team with Kawhi Leonard and Paul George.

26. Denver Nuggets – Josh Primo (G, Alabama)

The Nuggets aren’t shy about taking swings. Primo the youngest player in the Draft and, six months ago, most did not consider him even a fringe first-round pick. Since then, he’s come flying up the board, and Denver could bank on a continued rise. They also don’t need to rely on him immediately, which helps when putting the case together for this pick.

27. Brooklyn Nets – Quentin Grimes (G, Houston)

Grimes seems to be getting some late buzz as a first-round pick. He isn’t a high-ceiling swing, but the former five-star prospect remade his game at Houston to rave reviews. Brooklyn could view this pick as an opportunity to add a low-cost role player to aid in their title pursuit the next couple of years. If they do, Grimes fits as a two-way player that doesn’t need to have the ball to succeed.

28. Philadelphia 76ers – Tre Mann (G, Florida)

Philadelphia’s focus would seemingly be on the perimeter. Mann is a professional-level operator in the pick-and-roll, and he brings intriguing size as a lead guard. His shooting could be a swing skill, but this would be a strong value if Mann slides here.

29. Phoenix Suns – Isaiah Jackson (C/F, Kentucky)

This would be a bit of a tumble for Jackson, who could go in the mid-first round. The Suns have a few things to evaluate after their run to the NBA Finals, but backup center is definitely a concern. They did invest in Jalen Smith a year ago, but Jackson has some versatility and would also have a claim as the best prospect available at No. 29 overall.

30. Utah Jazz – Joel Ayayi (G, Gonzaga)

Ayayi isn’t viewed as a consensus first-rounder, but he is a potentially fantastic complementary piece. He is a strong team defender with the ability to shoot, handle the ball, and check a lot of boxes. Utah would probably prefer a big wing, but Ayayi would fit snugly with what they have and could return value.

Arlo Parks Enlists Unknown Mortal Orchestra To Create A Fresh Remix Of ‘Too Good’

Arlo Parks shared a video for her latest Collapsed In Sunbeams single “Too Good” earlier this month, and now she’s back with another spin on the track. This time, she got Unknown Mortal Orchestra to remix the song. The rework doesn’t stray too far from the spirit of the original track, although the new version is slightly more psychedelic.

Parks says of the remix, “I’ve been moved by Unknown Mortal Orchestra’s sonic palette and gorgeous approach to simplicity for years now. It’s an honor to have them remix ‘Too Good’ and bring such a sweet sense of intimacy to the song.” Unknown Mortal Orchestra also wrote on Twitter, “this song was already real good but i remixed it anyway and its real nice.”

Parks also previously told Apple Music of the original song, “I did this one with Paul Epworth in one of our first days of sessions. I showed him all the music that I was obsessed with at the time, from ’70s Zambian psychedelic rock to MF DOOM and the hip-hop that I love via Tame Impala and big ’90s throwback pop by TLC. From there, it was a whirlwind. Paul started playing this drumbeat, and then I was just running around for ages singing into mics and going off to do stuff on the guitar. I love some of the little details, like the bump on someone’s wrist and getting to name-drop Thom Yorke. It feels truly me.”

Meanwhile, Parks will be wrapping up the year with a sold-out headlining tour before joining Clairo for some shows in early 2022.

DaBaby References His Shoe-Dodging Moment In Response To Losing His BoohooMan Deal

It looks like DaBaby isn’t sweating losing his deal with BoohooMan in the wake of his controversial Roling Loud set — or at least, that’s what he wants his followers to think. He seemingly played off the news by referencing another odd moment from his set, when a fan in the crowd tried to bean him with — in his words — a “busted ass Adidas” shoe.

“NO WEAPON FORMED,” he wrote in the post. “This how I bob n weave anything sent to destroy me. Check my resume and sit back.” The post included a video of the moment he ducked the sneaker, which some fans compared to George W. Bush pulling a similar maneuver during an Iraqi press conference in December 2008.

BoohooMan, which has gained popularity through its capsule collections with popular rappers like Lil Skies, Quavo, and Swae Lee, cut ties with DaBaby after a viral clip of his Rolling Loud set depicted the Charlotte rapper making homophobic comments and insulting comments about HIV/AIDS. While he insisted that it was not his intent to insult anyone, intent and impact are two different things, and his combative tone made it clear he wasn’t interested in addressing the latter.

As a result, the fashion brand issued a statement on Instagram reading, “BoohooMAN condemn the use of homophobic language and confirm we will no longer be working with DaBaby.” While DaBaby doesn’t seem too put out by the loss, he’s also the same guy who insisted on performing during a pandemic because he was losing money, so … grain of salt, I’m just saying.
