Rootin’ Tootin’ Lauren Boebert Attributed A Samuel Adams Quote To John Adams, And People Had A Field Day

A lot of people are good at Twitter. Rifle-Republican Rep. Lauren Boebert (R-CO) is not one of them. This week, she’s been called out for her praise of the Taliban, and that’s in addition to how she got roasted for a silly Siri question and dragged for a pronoun discussion, in which she attempted to be clever by shading trans rights. And Lauren Boebert has messed up again on Twitter, this time by attributing a quote to John Adams (the 2nd president of the United States) to Samuel Adams (also a founding father, but who’s arguably better known as the namesake of a beloved brewery).

Rootin’ tootin’ Boebert does run a bar and grill, and perhaps that’s why, when she spoke of being a “patriot,” that’s why her mind moved toward beer instead? Who knows. It’s probably best to not try and make sense of why she wrote this (in a now deleted tweet-image): “For true patriots, to be silent, is dangerous” while adding, “Always let your voice be heard, patriots.”

Naturally, the tweet is gone now, although it remained in view for hours, and screenshots exist for posterity. Boebert famously acquired a GED and hasn’t attended college, so she’s probably not a history buff, but still, she’s an elected official and a lawmaker. So of course, people ran with her error.

The New ‘Godfather’ TV Show Is Shut Down Because Miles Teller Is Unvaccinated And Has COVID, Reportedly

The Godfather spinoff show The Order is reportedly on hold after Miles Teller refused several offers to get vaccinated against the novel coronavirus, skirted coronavirus safety regulations, and subsequently tested positive. According to the Daily Mail, not only was Teller the person who tested positive and got the show shut down, but he refused to get vaccinated or provide a negative test before filming, as is protocol on the set.

Filming for Paramount Plus Series The Offer was shut down Sunday after a production member tested positive for the virus, according to a studio spokesperson.

And a source close to the executive team for the show told DailyMail.com that that patient is Teller, 34, and that the actor had refused to get a vaccine or a previous Covid test before testing positive on set in Los Angeles.

The report is pretty blunt about Teller’s culpability here, with quotes from some anonymous people who seemed extremely frustrated by the Whiplash star and his anti-vax behavior. That said, his publicist did deny at least parts of the story the Mail presented on Friday.

‘Miles Teller is not vaccinated. He wouldn’t even get the test,’ the source told DailyMail.com. ‘Now he’s brought the virus to the set and the whole set had to shut down.’

The star’s publicist, Lauren Hozempa, told DailyMail.com: ‘Your facts are incorrect,’ but declined to elaborate further.

That sparked a lot of reaction online about Teller and the trouble he’s caused for The Offer.

Hopefully, everyone on set is safe and recovers from any trouble the outbreak may cause. But it’s another reminder that refusing to mitigate risk can lead to serious issues, especially when the mitigation includes a life-saving vaccine being offered for free during an extremely dangerous and seemingly endless pandemic.

The Trevor Project Names Lil Nas X Suicide Prevention Advocate Of The Year

September officially marks National Suicide Prevention Awareness Month. In order to draw attention to the important cause, non-profit organization The Trevor Project named Lil Nas X as the inaugural Suicide Prevention Advocate Of The Year.

The Trevor Project’s mission is to focus on suicide prevention specifically within the LGBTQ+ community. Alongside announcing Lil Nas X as their award recipient, for his “fearless effort” in changing the status quo around what it means to be queer and Black in the mainstream music industry, the organization notes some startling statistics. 42 percent of LGBTQ youth “seriously considered” attempting suicide in the past year, including more than half of transgender and nonbinary youth.

Accepting the title in a statement, Lil Nas X noted the “very real” discrimination against the LGBTQ+ community:

“Thank you so much to The Trevor Project for this award and for all they do for the LGBTQ community. Discrimination around sexuality and gender identity is still very real, and our community deserves to feel supported and totally free to be themselves. I often get messages from fans telling me about their struggles with depression and suicidal thoughts, and it made me realize that this was something bigger than myself. If using my voice and expressing myself in my music can help even one kid out there who feels alone, then it was all worth it.”

Echoing Lil Nas X’s statement, The Trevor Project’s CEO and Executive Director Amit Paley said they are “thrilled” to honor the musician with the award. “His vulnerability in his journey to self acceptance and expression has created space for candid conversations around mental health and sexual identity, signaling to LGBTQ youth that they are not alone,” Paley said. “The Trevor Project’s research shows that over 80 percent of LGBTQ youth say that LGBTQ celebrities positively influence how they feel about being LGBTQ, further affirming the cultural impact of Lil Nas X being proud of who he is and an ideal recipient of this inaugural award.”

Thom Yorke Laments Radiohead’s Lack Of TikTok Popularity In A Hilarious New Video

Earlier this year, Radiohead decided to join TikTok with a creepy Chieftan Mews video. Since then, most of their posts on the platform have been in that same unsettling vein. Between launching the account and now, Radiohead has racked up over 100,000 followers, with which the band is not pleased, as they convey in a new TikTok video.

In the three-minute clip, Thom Yorke and Radiohead art director Stanley Donwood go over the analytics for the account, by which they are underwhelmed. “It’s kind of embarrassing,” Donwood says. Yorke adds, “I can’t even f*cking remember why we started it.”

The pair eventually brings Mews into the room, who Yorke proceeds to chastise. Blaming the lack of TikTok prosperity on Mews, Yorke says, “Clearly, it’s not going in the right direction. Clearly, you need to do something more, like dogs dancing, or whatever the f*ck it is.” He later adds, “You promised us you could give us a strong identity on TikTok, you know? Promote the music, get us back in the marketplace. But instead, you’ve just become a source of acute embarrassment.”

Check out the video above, and subscribe to Radiohead on TikTok if you want to help Mews keep his job.

The ‘Dune’ Reviews Are In, And It’s Being Called Everything From An ‘Epic’ Masterpiece To A ‘Boring’ Disappointment

Dune is one of the most-anticipated movies of the year — and apparently one of the biggest disappointments. Or it’s a modern-day masterpiece. Either way, you will have a strong response.

Denis Villeneuve’s adaptation of Frank Herbert canonical novel, starring Timothée Chalamet, Rebecca Ferguson, Oscar Isaac, Josh Brolin, Stellan Skarsgård, Dave Bautista, Zendaya, Charlotte Rampling, Jason Momoa, Javier Bardem, and some space-worms (good cast imo), premiered on Friday at the Venice International Film Festival, where it was greeted with… well, this is the first review that I saw online.

“Here is a film consumed by dreams from even before the moment it starts (you’ll see what I mean), but also one so arch and full of empty spectacle that it keeps your imagination on a tight leash,” Indiewire‘s David Ehrlich writes in his C- review. Richard Lawson, from Vanity Fair, was equally let down (“Villeneuve’s film is somehow plodding and hurried at once, flurries of exposition and table-setting ringing around set-piece monoliths”), while Entertainment Weekly‘s Leah Greenblatt praised Dune‘s “awesomeness,” but also criticized the film’s meaning being “endlessly beguiling and just out of reach: a dazzling high-toned space opera written on sand

Here’s the Hollywood Reporter‘s David Rooney:

Perhaps the biggest issue with Dune, however, is that this is only the first part, with the second film in preproduction. That means an awful lot of what we’re watching feels like laborious setup for a hopefully more gripping film to come — the boring homework before the juicy stuff starts happening.

Others had far more positive reactions:

Dune hits theaters and HBO Max on October 22.

Rico Nasty Rocks Out With An All-Girl Band In Her Fiery Tiny Desk Concert

Rico Nasty is on a roll lately, dropping the singles “Magic” and “Buss” over the course of the summer and sharing colorful videos for each song in the past few weeks. Today, she incorporated “Magic” and songs from her debut album Nightmare Vacation into a stripped-down set for NPR’s Tiny Desk Concerts, including standout “OHFR?,” as well as her breakout hit, “Smack A Bitch.”

Rico sports one of her signature mullet wigs for the performance, which opens with a relaxed, groovy rendition of “Magic” that offers something a little different from her usual performance style. However, once that’s out of the way, she quickly gets back to rocking out along with her all-girl band (who wear coordinating bright red outfits), launching into a punk-style delivery of “Rage,” “OHFR?,” and “Trust Issues.” The band really brings the harder edges of Rico’s music to the fore, complementing her raspy vocal delivery. Rap-rock hasn’t always worked in the past, but Rico’s an expert at convincingly blending genres, and her band really amplifies the “rock” part while she sticks the shout-raps that tie the whole thing together.

Watch Rico Nasty’s Tiny Desk Concert above.

Rico Nasty is a Warner Music artist. Uproxx is an independent subsidiary of Warner Music Group.

Marilyn Manson Pleads Not Guilty To Spitting On A Videographer In His 2019 Assault Charge

Marilyn Manson is facing a misdemeanor charge stemming from a 2019 assault case. The charges were filed by a videographer who claims Manson spit and blew his nose on her during a concert she was working at, but Manson’s lawyers have plead not guilty on his behalf.

According to a report from Billboard, videographer Susan Fountain claims she was working in the pit at one of Marilyn Manson’s concerts New Hampshire in 2019 when he bent over and hocked a “big lougee” at her, striking her face and her hands with saliva. Fountain then claims he walked over to her a second time and blew his nose in her direction, forcing her to stop working and wash her hands in the bathroom.

Fountain then filed two charges of misdemeanor assault against Manson for the incident. Manson turned himself into police in July on an outstanding warrant connected to the charges. If convicted, Manson will face less than a year in prison and fines of up to $2,000.

Of course, this is not the only assault charge Manson is facing right now. Several woman have recently come forward and accused the musician of horrific acts of sexual assault. Actress Evan Rachel Wood led the accusations, detailing the alleged abuse and harassment she faced while in a relationship with him.

Despite Being Caught On Video, Jim Jordan’s Spokesperson Denies He Told People Trump Is ‘Ready’ To Announce 2024 Run

In a new video posted by The Undercurrent‘s Lauren Windsor, Ohio Congressman Jim Jordan can be seen clearly telling people at an event in Iowa that Donald Trump will announce a 2024 presidential run soon. The moment happened on Thursday night after Jordan was asked if he “thinks” Trump will run again, to which he responded, “I know so. Yeah, I talked to him yesterday. He’s about ready to announce after all of this craziness in Afghanistan.”

You can see the full video below:

Seems pretty cut and dry, doesn’t it? Well, not according to Jordan’s spokesperson, who told Politico’s Olivia Beavers, “Not true. Mr. Jordan did not say this,” in response to Windsor’s initial tweet which read: “Jim Jordan told me tonight in Iowa that Trump will announce he’s running “any day now.” A big GOP operative in the state later announced to the crowd that Trump will travel here imminently.”

Now, technically, Jordan does not say the words “any day now,” but c’mon. The guy literally said that he “knows” Trump will announce a run and gave a timeline of “after all of this craziness in Afghanistan.” Presumably, when Jordan’s spokesperson issued a denial, they didn’t know that Windsor had the goods. And how.

Of course, this wouldn’t be the first time that Jordan has denied his communications regarding Trump. The Ohio congressman is currently in hot water over a new report that he spoke to Trump multiple times during the January 6 attack on the U.S. Capitol building. He had initially told Congress that he couldn’t remember when he phoned Trump on January 6 and gave the impression that it was only once. In a nutshell, Jim Jordan isn’t exactly a reliable source when it comes to anything involving Trump.

Rapper Bino Rideaux Is On A Mission To Unite LA Through Music

LA-native Bino Rideaux has been writing raps since he was in the third grade, and now he’s on a mission to unite the city through music. With his hit 2021 album Sixtape 2 and upcoming US tour, the Nipsey Hussle protégé is undoubtedly LA’s next breakout star. Now detailing his rise in a new Magnum Scenes video presented by Uproxx, Bino explains how he’s continuing Nipsey’s legacy and creating a movement along the way.

After selling out his first-ever show at The Roxy Theatre in West Hollywood, Bino created a fair amount of buzz around his music. The rapper was eventually connected with Nipsey, who brought him into the studio and took him under his wing. “You should come into this game as a student. Nip was a mentor to me, for sure,” Bino said. “Being able to shadow him like that, it kinda grew me.”

After Nipsey’s tragic passing in 2019, Bino felt like the city “will never be the same.” But the rapper is motivated to carry on his legacy. “I had to live up to whatever he thought I was,” Bino said. Nipsey’s former tour DJ, DJ VIP, recognizes Bino and his OTB crew’s hard work. “Bringing the city together, that was something Nip stood by and I see that with OTB,” VIP said. “You can tell they’re really trying to put-on for LA and they’re doing it in an inclusive way.”

HER Knows You Think She’s An Industry Plant

In an excellent new interview in Vulture, mysterious EGOT contender HER (real name Gabi Wilson) has opened up a lot — like, a lot — about her seemingly rapid career ascent and the fact that you might think she’s an industry plant. Wilson has won four Grammys (out of 13 nominations), an Oscar for Best Original Song, she opened this year’s Super Bowl, and she is set to appear in the upcoming Color Purple movie musical, among other things. But the 24-year-old is famously unknowable, wearing sunglasses to every public event and rarely addressing anything to do with her personal life, claiming that she wants fans’ focus to be on the music.

“We live in a world where it’s full package — how do you look, who are you dating, who is she?” Wilson told Vulture. “We’ve lost sight of what’s important, which is the music.”

HER, who has also curated the lineup for the bi-costal Lights On Festival, had this to say about that whole “industry plant” thing. “With social media, people think they know everything about success. People see my success now, and they don’t understand the sacrifices, the 15-hour days in the studio, the pressure from my parents to go to college.”

She adds: “Most of the time, people think success is followers and crazy BTS popularity, like if you’re not Beyonce, you’re not famous. ‘Oh, you’ll get there one day.’ Like, everybody doesn’t want to be Beyonce! For me, I grinded it out kinda like a rapper: I dropped a mixtape, nobody knew who I was, it was a very slow build, and here we are now. The awards shows and all that stuff, that was surprising to me. But I realized, Oh my gosh, I’ve arrived, and in a different way. You don’t need some No. 1 radio single — even though I got that!”

There you have it! Check out the full interview here.
