The last new episode of Atlanta aired in May 2018. Since then, Donald Glover has played Lando Calrissian and voiced Simba; Brian Tyree Henry joined the Marvel Cinematic Universe; Lakeith Stanfield has been nominated for an Oscar; and Zazie Beetz has excelled in everything from Deadpool 2 to Joker to The Harder They Fall. A third season of Atlanta (Uproxx‘s best show of 2018) was not guaranteed with the cast’s busy schedule, but it’s happening — and there’s a teaser to prove it.

On Halloween, Glover tweeted a link to a site called Gilga, which features a clock, the user’s location, and a link to the teaser. It can be only viewed at certain times (“WHILE UNDER CONSTRUCTION, GILGA IS A ‘NITE-SITE’ OPERATIONAL HOURS ARE 8PM-3AM,” it currently reads), but the footage can be viewed elsewhere. Earn, Darius, and Vanessa are nowhere to be seen and there’s no dialogue (Sun Ra’s “It’s After the End of the World” provides the score), but Paper Boi appears at the end sitting at a table. That’s… basically it, and I couldn’t be more excited. Atlanta is almost back!

“I align the seasons I think, to me, like Kanye records,” Glover said back in 2019. “I feel like this is our Graduation. This is probably our most accessible but also the realest — an honest version of it — and I feel like the most enjoyable, like the third album. We were all on iMessage together and kind of talking about it, and I think people were really hungry to like beat ourselves, which is great.”

Atlanta, which filmed in Europe for seasons 3 and 4, will premiere in 2022.

Boba Fett’s return in The Mandalorian Season 2 was easily one of the series’ highlights as the iconic bounty hunter finally got a chance to show up and wreck ass thanks to an episode directed by Robert Rodriguez. As if that wasn’t enough to blow fans mind, Season 2 dropped a surprise end credits kicker for a new spinoff called The Book of Boba Fett, and now, the first trailer for the mysterious series has finally arrived.

Starring Temuera Morrison as Boba Fett and Ming-Na Wen as his right-hand woman, Fennec Shand, the trailer shows the bounty hunter setting his sights on a bigger prize: Taking control of Jabba the Hutt’s criminal empire. With the space slug dead following the events of Return of the Jedi, there’s a power vacuum that Boba Fett plans to fill but with “respect” instead of “fear.” Think The Godfather if The Godfather had a jetpack, and sometimes, bashed people’s skulls in with a space stick.

Here’s the official synopsis:

“The Book of Boba Fett,” a thrilling Star Wars adventure teased in a surprise end-credit sequence following the Season 2 finale of “The Mandalorian,” finds legendary bounty hunter Boba Fett and mercenary Fennec Shand navigating the galaxy’s underworld when they return to the sands of Tatooine to stake their claim on the territory once ruled by Jabba the Hutt and his crime syndicate.

The Book of Boba Fett premieres December 29 on Disney+, which has also unveiled a poster.

Mobile rapper Flo Milli pulls out all the stops in her “Ice Baby” video, recreating an iconic scene from the early 2000s reality show pioneer Flavor Of Love. Recruiting the 2006 season’s original winner Deelishis to reprise her role, Milli casts Compton rapper Buddy as Flavor Flav and herself as Tiffany Pollard, aka New York, and completely reproduces the reality maven’s viral meltdown after being rejected for the second time. The rest of the video finds Flo Milli rapping to the camera as she flexes her newfound wealth.

“Ice Baby” is presumably the first single from Flo Mili’s upcoming debut album, which she previously called “different from [her 2020 mixtape] Ho, Why Is You Here? because of the versatility,” saying, “I’ve been trying new things but you guys have got to stay tuned to see!” Milli debuted “Ice Baby” on the popular YouTube performance channel A COLORS Show, marking her return after a relatively quiet 2021 compared to the year before. In 2020, the newcomer made noise with a string of hits, including her appearance on Baby Tate’s “I Am,” as well as a strong BET Hip-Hop Awards Cypher performance. Earlier this year, those efforts rewarded her with placement on XXL‘s 2021 Freshman class. Now, fans can’t wait to see what she drops next.

As has become an annual tradition under the new Nike sponsorship of uniforms, the NBA’s 30 franchises all had the opportunity to create a special City Edition look for the league’s 75th anniversary season. All but two, the Jazz and Suns, took that opportunity and worked with Nike to create a retro mashup that bridges eras together into one jersey, taking inspiration from various uniform design elements from their past.

While Utah and Phoenix stuck with their dark gradient looks from last year that were big hits, everyone else went back to the drawing board and some took some big swings. The league unveiled the uniforms in a “diamond album” release video, highlighting the past and present stars that influenced the various designs.

You’ll see familiar elements from jerseys of the past, as teams dug into their history to bring together some intriguing mashup jerseys — some of which work better than others.

It’ll be interesting to see the response from fans to the jerseys, as some look like an immediate hit to this objective observer — Minnesota, Dallas, Milwaukee, Toronto, Philly, and Brooklyn all stand out to me. Others seem to be met with more skepticism, as fans think they’re doing a bit too much in bringing various designs together — or in the case of OKC, not enough. A number of teams will also have special retro court looks to pair with the new uniforms, and we really won’t be able to judge them until we see the full presentation.

Loki may have wrapped up its reality-breaking first season over the summer, but the love for the show is still going strong all the way into October. The Trickster God and his several variants were a prominent presence this Halloween, but the top honor easily goes to the late Steve Irwin’s son, Robert, who not only decked himself out as Loki, but he also dressed up an actual real-life alligator as Alligator Loki. Robert’s tweet was a smash hit the moment it hit Twitter, and it’s already sitting at well over 100,000 “likes,” thanks in part to the authentic reptile touch.

Of course, Robert was not the only Loki out there, and keeping with the show’s themes, here a cavalcade of various Lokis that each have their own unique twist on the character as well as a few Sylvies tossed in for good measure.

Oh, and naturally, someone had to do Alligator Loki, but make it sexy. It is Halloween after all.

Starring Tom Hiddleston as Loki, the Disney+ series is officially set to return for a second season after delivering a universe-breaking finale that will have widespread effects on the current slate of upcoming MCU films. Most notably, that includes Spider-Man: No Way Home and Doctor Strange 2, which will both explore the multiverse that’s currently being torn apart by Jonathan Major’s Kang.

The first season of Loki is available for streaming on Disney+.

Halloween has come and gone, which means one thing: To the chagrin of many, it is time for Christmas music to make its perhaps-premature annual return. That means we’re about to start seeing a lot more of Mariah Carey, who went ahead and introduced the holiday music season with a funny video. In it, she pokes fun at just how soon Christmas music comes back every year.

The video starts with Carey wielding a red-and-white-striped baseball bat as creepy music plays. She comes upon a trio of pumpkins that combine to read, “It’s not time.” Carey then smashes them with her bat and revels in the destroyed gourds as her timeless classic “All I Want For Christmas Is You” plays. The video ends with a screen that says, “It’s time!!! To smash that pumpkin and treat it as pie… cause we still gotta get through Thanksgiving!!!”

It also appears Carey has something happening this Friday: A super-quick shot from the video features a wrapped box that says “11/5” on it, suggesting that something is going down on November 5.

Last year saw a commercial peak for Christmas music. One week in particular was especially packed: Carey’s holiday hit was No. 1 and there was only one non-Christmas song in the top 10 of the Billboard Hot 100 chart.

It seems like it happened 17 years ago, but Ted Cruz fleeing frozen Texas for sunny Cancun during a historic (and fatal) winter storm is less than 10 months old.

“This has been an infuriating week for Texans. The greatest state in the greatest country in the world has been without power. We have food lines, we have gas lines, and people sleeping at their neighbors’ houses. Our homes are freezing and our lights are out. Like millions of Texans, our family lost heat and power too,” Cruz wrote in a statement at the time. What a good list of reasons for an elected official to stay and assist his constituents during a once-in-a-generation crisis. And yet!

“With schools canceled for the week, our girls asked us to take a trip with friends. Wanting to be a good dad, I flew down with them last night and am flying back this afternoon. My staff and I are in constant communication with state and local leaders to get to the bottom of what happened in Texas. We want our power back, our water on, and our homes warm. My team and I will continue using all our resources to keep Texas informed and safe.”

Cruz didn’t apologize for leaving Texas, but he did blame his kids — and left his poor dog Snowflake behind, a moment that was recreated by Rose Clouston, the director of voter protection for Texas Democratic Party, and Steven Becerra for Halloween.

Dave Chappelle’s remarks about trans people during The Closer, followed by the aftermath, have led two Netflix employees to file unfair labor charges. That move follows about a month of backlash to Chappelle’s latest Netflix special, The Closer, in which he declared himself “Team TERF” and in agreement with J.K. Rowling’s statements about gender. Chappelle recently expressed relief at Netflix CEO Ted Sarandos “being the only one that didn’t cancel me yet.” That’s a messy situation, too, considering that Sarandos initially responded to The Closer controversy by declaring that “content on screen doesn’t directly translate to real-world harm” before Netflix issued an apologetic statement of support for employees who staged a walkout.

Amid those developments, the organizer of the walkout was fired, reportedly for leaking metrics, including a claim that Netflix spent over $24 million on The Closer, to Bloomberg. Fast forward a few weeks, and The Verge and The Hollywood Reporter have revealed that the fired employee and a current Netflix software engineer have filed unfair labor charges (with the National Labor Relations Board) against Netflix:

According to the NLRB filing, which names Netflix co-CEO Ted Sarandos as the employer representative, Netflix “engaged in the above activity to quell employees from speaking up about working conditions including, but not limited to, seeking to create a safe and affirming work environment for Netflix employees, speaking up about Netflix’s products and the impact of its product choices on the LGBTQ+ community, and providing support for employees whom Netflix has treated in an unlawful and disparate manner.”

The Verge gave the first heads up on this development while revealing that B. Pagels-Minor (the terminated Netflix employee and a Black trans program manager) and Terra Field (a trans software engineer who was suspended after posting a viral tweet thread and was later reinstated) filed the charges with the NLRB. Their charges included accusations that Netflix retaliated against them for what they say is protected behavior, and in line with Section 7 of the National Labor Relations Act, which has previously not gone well for employer policies that could have precluded Field from tweeting about the Chappelle controversy.

The Hollywood Reporter published a Netflix followup statement, in which the streamer “denied taking action” against any employees for “speaking up or walking out.” A Netflix spokesperson further declared, “We recognize the hurt and pain caused to our trans colleagues over the last few weeks. But we want to make clear that Netflix has not taken any action against employees for either speaking up or walking out.”

Ever since Lil Dicky’s FX series Dave premiered last year, it drew instant and bountiful comparisons to Donald Glover’s show Atlanta. Indeed, there are obvious major parallels: Both shows are made by rapper/comedians, they’re both about what it’s like to be a rapper, and they both air on FX. The two were also paired together in headlines last year when Dave passed Atlanta to become FX’s most-watched comedy series ever. So, while many people put the shows on similar ground. Glover (aka Childish Gambino) is tired of it.

In a now-deleted tweet shared yesterday, Glover took exception to the Atlanta/Dave comparisons, writing, “and just for the record, im watching yall saying ‘dave’ is on par. like yall forgot what we did. no disrespect.” he quickly added, “we got black people on here debating which is better, and IM the sellout?”

In a New York Times interview from this summer, Dicky said he doesn’t think the two shows are that alike: “I’m a big fan of that show, I think it’s a great show. I feel like they’re very different shows.” When the interviewer responded, “I can’t think of two more similar shows,” Dicky replied, “That’s crazy. When I hear it, I don’t feel offended I feel complimented.” He continued, “I think they’re very different. I think our show is trying to be funny — a lot more jokes. Theirs is just the tonal brilliance. I see them as different shows.”
