Yung Bleu Has His Romance Enhanced By Kehlani In Their Sci-Fi Video For ‘Beautiful Lies’

Last summer, Yung Bleu capitalized on his newfound popularity by releasing his debut album, Moon Boy. The 15-track effort was a strong release from the Alabama native and it came attached with features from John Legend, HER, Moneybagg Yo, Big Sean, Drake, Jeezy, Gunna, 2 Chainz, A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie, and more. Nearly five months after its release, Bleu continues to promote the project by releasing a brand new video for “Beautiful Lies” with Kehlani.

The visual begins with Bleu walking around a military site with his love interest. Things take a turn when Bleu and his partner boarded a UFO of sorts. Shortly after, Bleu is transported into a new dimension where Kehlani awaits him. After spending some time in this new world, Bleu is sent back to reality to reconnect with his companion who is extremely happy to see him again.

“Beautiful Lies” joins “Unforgiving” with Davido, “Ghetto Love Birds” with A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie, and “You’re Mines Still” with Drake as videos from the album to receive the visual treatment. Bleu’s new video also comes after he took home the award for Best New Artist at the 2021 Soul Train Awards.

Brian Kelly Busted Out A Bad Southern Accent While Addressing LSU Fans At A Basketball Game

Brian Kelly shocked the college football world earlier this week when he left Notre Dame to become the next head coach at LSU. While the Fighting Irish have a chance to make it to the College Football Playoff this season if a few things go their way on Saturday, Kelly decided to end his 12-year tenure in South Bend to head on down to Baton Rouge.

The manner in which Kelly left — the news leaked one evening, then he called the team in for a 7 a.m. meeting the following day, then he spoke for less than four minutes without taking any questions from a roster of players who are going to make a New Year’s Six bowl at the bare minimum — led to a bad taste in a whole lot of mouths. But now, he’s got one of the most coveted jobs in all of college football and dear god what on earth is happening here?

Kelly showed up at the LSU men’s basketball team’s game against Ohio University on Thursday night. Despite being from Massachusetts and spending his entire coaching career in the Great Lakes region of the country, Kelly has apparently developed something of a janky southern accent that he used to address the fans. Anyone who has ever heard Kelly speak knows that man doesn’t exactly sound like his predecessor, Ed Orgeron, so this is very weird.

Buried in all of the accent talk: Kelly says “I haven’t even won all my games yet.” There is no chance this backfires, Brian.

The Kinks’ Dave Davies Weighs In On Whether Women Should Go ‘Au Naturel’ Down There

The Kinks’ guitarist and vocalist Dave Davies had a thought to get off his mind on a particularly interesting choice of topic, to say the least.

Davies delivered an opinion of women’s hygiene, and while the topic wasn’t trending in any sense, he dove right into it and kept things completely honest. “I’m not sure if this is an appropriate tweet but In the sixties some of the models shaved their minges,” he tweeted. “I always thought it was a turn off I always liked women to look ‘au natural.’”

Davies somewhat stuck to his opinion and the randomness of it all after some fans responded to his initial tweet. When one person asked, “Did you regret tweeting about this or not yet ? Haha,” Davies replied, “I don’t know.” He also cleared up a mistake in the original post, writing, “It was a typo I meant to say fringes.”

Davies’ post comes as rumors of a reunion with The Kinks continue to swirl. The band’s current members include Dave himself; his older brother Ray Davies, who is the lead vocalist and main songwriter; and drummer Mick Avory. During a 2018 interview with Uproxx, Dave spoke about a possible Kinks reunion. “We have been talking about doing some stuff,” he said. “We’ve worked together on a few songs and he has some material that he wants to go over and re-record or something.”

Earlier this year, during an interview with the Washington Post, Dave once again discussed the possibility of a reunion. “We’ve been talking about it,” he said. “I mean there’s a lot of material and, you know, it could still happen.”

Troy Aikman Could Reportedly Aim For ‘Tony Romo Money’ In Contract Negotiations

When Tony Romo took the football broadcasting universe by storm as the lead analyst for CBS, a lot of the chatter was about his ability to diagnose plays in real time and entertain viewers with an upbeat personality. For those in the media industry, the discussion soon shifted, with Romo eventually inking the largest contract ever for a game analyst to stay with CBS after ESPN was reportedly trying desperately to lure him to Monday Night Football. In the process, however, Romo’s deal blew all of the other contracts for similar positions out of the water, earning him $18 million annually, and Andrew Marchand of the New York Post recently shed light on how it has shifted the landscape.

In fact, Marchand reports that Troy Aikman, the lead analyst for FOX, could try to position himself for “Tony Romo money” on his next contract. The Post’s report does make sure to note that “Fox will not pay Aikman ‘Romo money’ on its own,” but Marchand outlines a scenario in which Aikman could join also join the Amazon Prime Video team to potentially call Thursday Night Football alongside Al Michaels. Nothing is official at this juncture, but Aikman could leverage FOX into a large pay bump, particularly with his contract set to expire after next year.

Elsewhere in the space is Cris Collinsworth, the No. 1 analyst for NBC, and he is reportedly in talks to stick around for a deal reportedly worth “in the $12.5 million per season range.” That doesn’t approach the money that Romo is receiving, but NBC also has Drew Brees potentially waiting in the wings, which could conceivably lessen Collinsworth’s overall leverage.

By the sound of Marchand’s reporting, it doesn’t seem as if Collinsworth or Aikman are likely to vacate their current chairs, and that means there won’t be a massive impact on viewers, most of which probably aren’t concerned with contracts. With that said, Amazon could be quite intriguing as a potential way for Aikman to fill the coffers, and that deal will also take NFL viewers into a world in which the only way to view a “nationally televised” NFL game is via a streaming service.

Rihanna’s Response To Pregnancy Rumors Came Through An Instagram DM With A Fan

For the umpteenth time in her career, Rihanna faced pregnancy rumors earlier this week after many claimed to spot a baby bump on her. It came after her appearance at a ceremony that celebrated her home country of Barbados’ independence from 400 years of British rule. The rumors caused many to congratulate Rihanna and her boyfriend ASAP Rocky on social media while others were left to wallow in sadness at the news. One fan took the opportunity to reach out to Rihanna to see if the news was true or not. The singer replied with nothing but jokes about the rumors while also denying them.

“Can I come to the baby shower!? [skull and heart emojis],” the fan inquired. “True or not your babies are going to be beautiful! sorry everyone’s up in your uterus right now [laughing and skull emojis]. In response, Rihanna wrote, “Haaaaa! Stawwwp! You ain’t come to the first 10 baby showers! Y’all breed me every year dammit lol.”

The last time that Rihanna was hit with pregnancy rumors came at the end of 2019 following an appearance at the Diamond Ball. ‘Succession’ Fans Are Worried About Kendall After One Of The Show’s Stars Called The Season 3 Finale ‘Very Upsetting’

The Roys are going to Italy! In Sunday’s episode of Succession, the billionaire family attend a “luxe family wedding” overseas, where “Gerri draws a line in the sand with Roman, the Waystar team grows increasingly concerned about Matsson’s rogue tweets, and Shiv and Caroline have a heart-to-heart, of sorts,” according to HBO. It won’t be as depressing as last week’s party (god I hope), but something upsetting is coming.

J. Smith-Cameron, who plays Waystar Royco interim CEO Gerri Kellman, appeared on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen, where she teased the season three finale. “My god, it’s going to be very upsetting,” she said, and “a little shocking.”

Succession fans are now concerned about Kendall, who’s not doing great.

In (slightly) less distressing news, Smith-Cameron was also asked about Gerri and Roman’s relationship and whether they would ever… you know. “I don’t know, I don’t think so,” she replied. “I feel like, first of all let’s just talk about him, I don’t think he could do that, right? He would be freaked out… and I think my character’s too careful to do that. But, you know, if the writers write it…”

Andrew Garfield sums up the grief of losing his mom in a simple and captivating way

Andrew Garfield came onto “The Late Show With Stephen Colbert” to promote his new movie, “tick, tick… Boom.” What he gave instead was a truly touching story about love and loss, with a refreshing and relatable twist.

The sweet moment comes at the four-minute mark of the interview, where Colbert asked Garfield how playing Broadway composer Jonathan Larson (who died suddenly of a heart issue at the upswing of his creative career) helped him process the unexpected loss of his mother.

Instead of wishing the pain away, Garfield states, “I hope this grief stays with me.”

“This is all of the unexpressed love,” he continues. “The grief that will remain with us until we pass because we never get enough time with each other, no matter whether someone lives until 60 or 15 or 99. I hope this grief stays with me because it’s all of the unexpressed love that I didn’t get to tell her, and I told her every day, she was the best of us.

“I got to sing Jonathan Larson’s unfinished song, while simultaneously singing for my mother and her unfinished song. This film is to do with this ticking clock that we all have, that we all know, somewhere deep down that life is sacred, life is short, and we better just be here as much as possible with each other, holding on to each other.”

He concludes with, “Both John and my mother were warriors for art. They knew the power of art and knew the power of leaving the world in a slightly more beautiful state than how they found it.”

Garfield’s moving testament—with nearly 800,000 views on YouTube—helps put to words that inexplicable, bittersweet yet sublime feeling of loss, and how it helps remind us to take stock of the good things while they’re still here.

An inspiring quote long attributed to artist Frida Kahlo was actually from a Canadian teen

Frida Kahlo is, undoubtedly, an iconic artist. Her paintings continue to engage even a contemporary audience. And her life story inspires us to transmute our pain into beauty.

Among her many famous quotes, you might have ran across this one:

“I used to think I was the strangest person in the world, but then I thought there are so many people in the world, there must be someone just like me who feels bizarre and flawed in the same ways I do.”

That quote, though mainstream, was not created by Kahlo at all. It was actually made by a 17-year-old girl in 2008.

The early 2000s were a time where teenagers transitioned from the private journal entry to the more public—while still anonymous—forums of online blogs. Rebecca Martin found her creative outlet on a site called PostSecret. Using a magazine cut-out image of Kahlo, she combined it with her typed-out words as a mini collage and posted it to the site.

In an interview with BuzzFeed, Martin shared how excited she was to see that her work made it to the very top of the blog. Little did she know that it would begin a long-enduring mix-up of creative attribution.

The quote spread like artistic wildfire. In 2015, Martin discovered a comic strip featuring a young girl, with a similar appearance to Kahlo. In the comic, the young girl struggles to find a sense of belonging until she stumbles across the works of Frida Kahlo. Martin’s quote not only makes it into the comic, it’s the written through line of the piece. And it’s credited to Kahlo.

Martin then had to contact Quote Investigator, the comic creator and the Frida Kahlo estate to receive proper attribution. But that wouldn’t be the end of it.

Recently, on November 22, the Museum of Modern Art used the quote while promoting its exhibit featuring three of Kahlo’s most famous self-portraits. The museum quickly corrected itself in a follow-up post. But still, the erroneous tweet remains.

Reading the quote, you can see how even a high-profile institution like MoMA would mistakenly hear Kahlo’s voice. Both women share the same soft, poetic nature. But this sparks another question. Would people find the message as impactful knowing it came from a teenage girl online, rather than then famous Frida Kahlo?

Martin seems to think otherwise. She told BuzzFeed “I think people really like to believe that Frida Kahlo said it because she’s such a powerful figure and the quote is really very vulnerable and soft, and it’s asking for connection and I think people like to feel connected to Frida Kahlo in that way. I think it’s less exciting to feel connected to me.”

Which is a bit sad, really. Clearly Martin’s quote moved people. And creativity doesn’t become more or less moving when it comes from someone famous. This alludes to an odd form of celebrity worship we have as a society, which keeps us from being affected by one another in a genuine way.

frida kahlo quote

Just as Kahlo’s works are no longer simply hers, so too have Martin’s words morphed into something all their own. Such is the nature of art once we share it with the world. Better yet, Martin’s unique experience made way for her own special connection with one of the world’s greatest artists, someone “bizarre and flawed” just like her.

By the way, if you’re curious about what actual Frida Kahlo quotes look like, here are a few:

“At the end of the day, we can endure much more than we think we can.”

“Pain, pleasure and death are no more than a process for existence. The revolutionary struggle in this process is a doorway open to intelligence”

“Nothing is worth more than laughter. It is strength to laugh and to abandon oneself, to be light. Tragedy is the most ridiculous thing.”
