Mariah Carey Is Already Planning For Next Christmas As She Announces A Holiday-Themed Children’s Book

Mariah Carey just capped off another prosperous holiday season that saw “All I Want For Christmas Is You” return to No. 1 on the charts yet again. While some glass-half-empty-ers may see Christmas as having just passed, Carey doesn’t seem to think it’s too early to start planning for this next December. Today, she announced that she wrote a new children’s book, The Christmas Princess, with Michaela Angela Davis, with whom she co-wrote The Meaning Of Mariah Carey. It also features illustrations by Fuuji Takashi.

Carey shared the cover on Instagram today and explained, “The Christmas Princess is a fairytale for holiday lovers of all ages! Little Mariah represents my inner child believing in her own vision, she represents all children, especially those who feel like outsiders or ‘others,’ striving to believe in themselves. It was empowering to transform my childhood turmoil into a modern classic fairytale full of wonder and boundless hope.”

She also told People, “So many of us have been drowning in ‘bleakocity’ for the last year and half, why not create an enchanted land to escape to? The Christmas Princess springs from the same need as my memoir The Meaning Of Mariah Carey — to emancipate the little girl in me.”

The publication also reports that the book will published by Henry Holt Books For Young Readers this upcoming fall (aka just in time for Christmas).

Evan Rachel Wood’s Documentary That Chronicles Her Marilyn Manson Abuse Allegations Is Heading to Sundance

Evan Rachel Wood’s allegations against Brian Warner, a.k.a., “Marilyn Manson,” caused a flood of other women to come forward. Now, she’s teamed up with an award-winning director for a documentary, which will appear on HBO and (in the meantime) head to Sundance.

Evan came forward in early 2021 to name Manson as her alleged abuser, who she had previously spoken about while testifying for legislators on behalf of abuse survivors. She accused Manson of terrorizing, grooming, and horrifically abusing her during their relationship (from 2007, when she was 18 and he was 26, forward). Since Wood came forward to name Manson, several other women (including former Manson assistant Ashley Walters and Game of Thrones actress Esme Bianco) have detailed their allegations against him.

Manson’s home has subsequently been raided by the LA County Sheriff as part of the ongoing sexual assault investigation, and Wood’s been putting the final touches on Phoenix Rising, a two-part documentary that will chronicle her abuse allegations against the singer. The Oscar-winning Amy Berg spoke with Variety about why she agreed (after Wood approached her in 2019) to direct this project:

“It wasn’t about Marilyn Manson, and his whole world,” Berg said of the origins of the project. “This was about an Erin Brockovich story. We were really focused on telling a story about empowerment, something that would offer resources for women and men who are stuck in abusive situations. And that was what we were making — until she decided to name him publicly.”

So, the project was already well in motion when Wood came forward to name Manson, and at that point, this became (according to Berg) “a two-part film in the edit bay.” That meant adding more texture to the story in addition to the “number of survivors” who were already appearing in the project. Berg is calling the totality of the two-parter as “a really intimate portrait of Evan,” including her family life and early days “and how she was forced into adulthood from such young age — like Thirteen, and those roles.” Berg added, “And it’s very personal.”

Wood previously testified during U.S. congressional testimony to support the Sexual Assault Survivors’ Bill of Rights Act. This project will, no doubt, strike a further chord with helping abuse survivors rise above their own experiences, too.

Nuggets Coach Michael Malone Believes NBA Players Are ‘Worrying About Where They’re Going Out’ More Than Losing

The Denver Nuggets blew a 25-point lead against the Los Angeles Clippers on Tuesday evening and lost, 87-85. After the game, Nuggets head coach Michael Malone seemingly expressed discontent with the way he recoils from that type of loss versus the way he perceives players around the league do.

“Losses like this keep me awake for weeks,” Malone said. “I think today’s NBA player, they’re worrying about where they’re going out tonight.

“I can’t speak to that, you know? I wasn’t in there hanging out with them after I spoke to them briefly.”

Of course, the idea that players enjoying a night life and activities away from the game is some sort of new detrimental trend is faulty. For decades, players have publicly and privately enjoyed themselves off the court. That’s not a new concept, nor is it likely the reason his team surrendered a 25-point lead.

Besides, at its core, the NBA remains an occupation for these players, just like any other job. There are obvious aspects that distinguish being a professional athlete from most other jobs. But living and cultivating a life outside of the sport is both entirely reasonable and healthy for everyone. The implication from Malone that it’s an issue tainting the league feels off-base.

The rollout for Cordae’s new album, From A Bird’s Eye View continues today as he stops by the LA Leakers studio to drop a fiery, three-part freestyle putting any and all doubts about his rap skills to rest forever.

The witty young rappers delivers slick punchlines and tricky flows to beats both contemporary and classic, including The Notorious B.I.G.’s “Kick In The Door,” Jadakiss’ 2001 mixtape favorite “Put Ya Hands Up,” and Kodak Black’s 2021 hit “Super Gremlin,” which has become a freestyle staple this year in its own right. When he’s done, Cordae puts a moratorium on future LA Leakers freestyles, noting that there are only a handful of rappers who could follow his performance.

From A Bird’s Eye View is out this Friday, January 14, with features from Eminem, Freddie Gibbs, Gunna, H.E.R., Lil Durk, Lil Wayne, Nas, Roddy Ricch, and Stevie Wonder. Singles from the album include “Gifted” with Roddy Ricch, “Super,” and “Sinister” featuring Lil Wayne, while his tour for the album begins in February at the Dallas House Of Blues.

From A Bird’s Eye View is due 1/14 via Atlantic. You can pre-save it here.

Cordae is a Warner Music artist. Uproxx is an independent subsidiary of Warner Music Group.

Even Tucker Carlson Isn’t Here For Glenn Beck’s Claim Of Anti-Vaxxer Internment Camps

Tucker Carlson is no stranger to spreading misinformation when it comes to the COVID vaccine. Just the other day, he was touting Viagra as a miracle cure. So it was notable when Carlson issued a rare fact check after hosting Glenn Beck on his show on Tuesday night. The former Fox News host and avid white board scribbler stopped by Carlson’s show to promote his new book, The Great Reset, and in true Beck-ian form, he came loaded with a wild conspiracy theory about anti-vaxxers being forced into internment camps in the state of Washington. Via Mediaite:

“Tomorrow morning at 9:30, the Washington state Covid detainment emergency, they are going to have a state board of health discussing from 9:30 to 3:30 tomorrow allowing health, local health officers to use law enforcement to force an emergency order in involuntarily detaining a person or group of persons’ families to be isolated in a quarantine facility following the refusal to voluntarily comply with requested medical examinations, testing, treatment, counseling and vaccination. This is an internment camp.”

After thanking Beck for appearing on the show, and sending him off with a “God bless,” Carlson ended the segment by saying his producers found no evidence to back Beck’s claim.

“We’ve gotten a lot of communication about the law that Glenn mentioned in Washington state,” Carlson said. “We’ve not been able to track that down, obviously, things have happened in the last years we never would have imagined are true. So, of course, our minds remain open and we will continue to look.”

Obviously, Carlson left some wiggle room to appease his conspiratorial-minded audience, but Wednesday morning came and went, and anti-vaxxer internment camps did not start springing up in Washington. Our deepest condolences to Glenn Beck.

Coachella 2022 Reportedly Confirms Ye, Harry Styles, And Billie Eilish As Headliners

By the time Coachella officially opens their gates to gleeful music lovers this spring, it will have been three years since the last time the Indio, California festival took place. As one of the more buzzworthy music events of the year, there had been much speculation about which performers organizers would book to headline the anticipated 2022 event. Rumors alleged that musicians like Billie Eilish and Ye would be invited to headline in addition to Swedish House Mafia, but fans weren’t sure who the fourth closing act would be. On Wednesday, Coachella organizers reportedly confirmed that, along with Billie Eilish, Ye, and Swedish House Mafia, Harry Styles will be invited to headline their 2022 iteration.

The report comes through Billboard, which claims to have received confirmation from a source at Coachella. Apparently, a poster was making the rounds on the internet which alleged headliners Ye, Eilish, Styles, and Swedish House Mafia.

It wouldn’t be the first time some of the musicians have taken the Coachella stage. Eilish performed music from her debut album When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go? at Coachella 2019. Meanwhile, Ye was invited to take over a nearby field to share an installment of his Sunday Service gospel event.

Coachella 2022 will once again take place over two weekends to accommodate for the massive number of music fans who hope to attend. It kicks off the weekend of April 15 to 17 and continues the next weekend, April 22 to 24. Tickets sold out pretty much as soon as they were made available, but fans can still join a waitlist in hopes of securing a ticket.

Report: Kyrie Irving Could Play Home Games Despite Being Unvaccinated If The Nets Pay A ‘Small Fine’

Through nearly the midpoint of the 2021-22 NBA season, Kyrie Irving has yet to play a home game for the Brooklyn Nets and has suited up for just two games in total. All of it stems from Irving’s refusal to get vaccinated and comply with New York City’s mandate for indoor events.

Yet according to Stefan Bondy of the New York Daily News, Irving could play home games if the Nets wish to pay a price. Bondy articulated the financial penalties for anyone who fails to comply “with The Key to NYC, as outlined in Bill de Blasio’s executive order.”

Nets owner Joe Tsai has a net worth of more than $8 billion dollars. At most, the Nets have 36 home games remaining, including the playoffs. The fines would amount to fewer than $180,000 if Brooklyn opted to immediately begin allowing Irving to play home games.

The Nets, one has to presume, were probably already aware of these stipulations and it seems unlikely things will change imminently. However, the chances he is fully available for the playoffs doesn’t seem implausible. Merely issuing a small financial penalty to a billionaire for enabling the refusal of public health protocols amid a pandemic is pretty futile, albeit unsurprising.

Whether Brooklyn, Tsai, and Irving opt to incur those fines is unknown, though. Regardless, this adds a new wrinkle to a long-standing storyline and is worth monitoring moving forward.

Euphoria Style Watch: Where To Buy The Latest Episode’s Best Looks

Euphoria is back! After two very depressing — but compelling — single character-driven special episodes, the full cast of Euphoria has finally returned after an almost three-year break. We’re only one episode in but we’ve already been given more drama and gasp-worthy moments than most shows can muster in a full season, and while everyone flocks to the show for its high drama, it’s the style that keeps us highly addicted.

I’m not just talking about the way the show is shot — though the move to use actual Kodak film stock for the first episode was beautiful — I’m talking about the amazing outfit inspiration that the show is able to deliver without fail from scene to scene. From Fez’s head-to-toe Palace drip to Maddy’s neck-breaking cut-out dress, everyone was rocking their best looks Sunday night, which probably has you itching to update your own personal wardrobe.

That’s why every week we’ll be giving you the run-down on who wore what and where to buy it for yourself in our new series, Euphoria Fit Watch. We’re not talking about look-alike outfits, we’re talking about the real deal and searching out the actual brands worn by our favorite characters. I will try to keep this series as spoiler-free as possible, but if you’re seeking out outfits for an episode you’ve never seen I have to ask… why?

Here are the latest episodes’ best-dressed.

Fezco — Palace Cable Knit

Euphoria Fit Watch
HBO

Everyone’s favorite drug dealer, Angus Cloud’s Fezco is a certified streetwear king. Last season we saw him rocking a whole lot of Supreme (even during the recap!) and this year he’s updated things a bit with a head-to-toe outfit supplied by London-based streetwear label Palace. We’ve analyzed the episode so deeply that we caught not only Palace branded sweat pants, but underwear too (we take this…maybe a little too seriously?).

But the true star of the show was that dope teal cable knit sweater. The sweater is from Palace’s recent Spring Summer 2021 line and is readily available on aftermarket sites like StockX. Move fast though, we’re sure the resale price of this sweater is going to start soaring for anyone that’s trying to cop a little of Fez’s energy.

Buy the Palace Cable Knit here. It’s also available in cream and blue.

Maddy — Akna Damien Black Mini Dress

Euphoria Fit Watch
HBO

Maddy has always been Euphoria’s fashion queen and she did not disappoint in this season’s first episode when she rolled up to the party in this head-turning cut-out by Akna. The dress is handmade to order in Los Angeles and composed of polyester and spandex, providing four-way stretch with a back zipper closure in an extra small to xx large size range.

To complete the outfit she also wore matching Akna gloves, which really help to pull the outfit together. The dress has yet to be released but is currently available for pre-order on the Akna website.

Buy the Akna Damien Black Mini Dress here.

Jules — Her Whole Damn Outfit

Euphoria Fit Watch
HBO

Jules killed it in last weekend’s episode, from her eye make-up to her hairstyle to her heavily layered fit, she was easily this week’s best dressed. Sorry Fez, you’ll always be our streetwear king.

We aren’t going to get into the intricacies of Jules’ full look, but the core of her outfit consisted of a Sheer Beaded Halter by Nihl over a Lavender Maroske Peech Geotard, and an off-white Gamine Skirt by Orseund Iris.

Buy the Nihl halter here, the Orseund Iris skirt here, but unfortunately, if you want the Maroske Peech leotard, you’re going to have to do some Depop hunting.

Travis — Amiri Playboy Bunny-print Silk Shirt

Euphoria Fit Watch
HBO

Aside from Fezco and his little brother Ash Tray, the male cast of Euphoria… just doesn’t have style (we’re looking at you Nate). But this week brought some new characters, one of which is the Maddy-obsessed Travis (played by Lil Meech) who was absolutely dripping with swagger.

At the episode’s big party, Travis was seen rocking a silk Playboy Bunny shirt by Amiri. The shirt features a graphic all-over print with a notched collar and is made in Italy of 100% silk. It is… quite pricey.

Pick up the Amiri Playboy Bunny Silk Shirt at FarFetch.

Cassie — CB Ella Mini Dress And Prada Sandals Combo

Euphoria Fit Watch
HBO

The internet collectively loves Cassie the way we all hate Nate — without question — even after the events of last week’s episode. While Maddie was rocking the edgier dress, Cassie kept things simple with a ruched blue mini dress and white Prada sandal combo. The mini dress comes from the House of CB and is made of a blend of mesh and satin with a body-contouring fit in an extra small to extra large size run.

The sandals are Prada Appliquéd Patent Leather in white and are unfortunately sold out across the internet.

Pick up the CB Ella Mini Dress here, as for the sandals, try your luck on eBay!

Indie Mixtape 20: Grace Cummings Declares Beck’s ‘Odelay’ A ‘Perfect Album’

After conquering the Australian theater stage as an actor, Grace Cummings is now ready to make her mark as a songwriter on her self-produced sophomore album, Storm Queen. Many of the songs on Storm Queen were captured in just a few takes, showcasing Cummings’ raw songwriting and captivating vocal performances. While her debut album Refuge Cove garnered some buzz upon its release in 2019, Storm Queen is surely to take things to the next level for Cummings as she plots her debut appearances in the United States.

Ahead of the new album’s release, Cummings sat down to talk Canadian tuxedoes, Beck, and Scotland in the latest Indie Mixtape 20 Q&A.

What are four words you would use to describe your music?

Simple. Hard. Light. Dark.

It’s 2050 and the world hasn’t ended and people are still listening to your music. How would you like it to be remembered?

Great that we’re still going… I suppose if it’s being listened to then I would hope that what I have written is still relevant and might manage to connect with people of all kinds.

What’s your favorite city in the world to perform?

Edinburgh or Glasgow.

Who’s the person who has most inspired your work, and why?

I think It’d have to be my friend Leah Senior… Without her I wouldn’t have had the encouragement to begin in the first place.

Where did you eat the best meal of your life?

Notto, Sicily.

What album do you know every word to?

That’s a long list…

What was the best concert you’ve ever attended?

I’d have to choose between Neil Young and Crazy Horse or the GZA.

What is the best outfit for performing and why?

Mmmmm anything you’re comfortable in so you can move around I suppose… Maybe a Canadian tuxedo…

What’s your most frequently played song in the van on tour?

My Morning Jacket – “Run It.” Or AC/DC – “Jailbreak”

What’s the last thing you Googled?

Where I can go Go Karting in Melbourne.

What album makes for the perfect gift?

Let’s just say Odelay by Beck… It was the last album I gifted to somebody and I reckon it’s a pretty perfect album.

What’s the story behind your first or favorite tattoo?

My first tattoo was done by my friend Country Tim in his bedroom while he was still figuring out how to do them… The tattoo itself doesn’t really have much meaning behind it.

What’s one piece of advice you’d go back in time to give to your 18-year-old self?

You’re insane but it might work out for you if you embrace it.

What’s the last show you went to?

King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard.

What movie can you not resist watching when it’s on TV?

Bridget Jones.

What would you cook if Obama were coming to your house for dinner?

I dunno, I’d cook him the same things that I’d cook anybody else.

Storm Queen is out January 14 via ATO Records. Pre-order it here.
