Efrain Alvarez Ruined Charlotte FC’s Record-Setting Home Opener By Going Top Bins From A Crazy Angle

The primetime matchup during MLS’s Saturday slate this week pitted the league’s most decorated squad against a group of newcomers. Charlotte FC, playing the second match in club history, played host to the Los Angeles Galaxy in front of the largest crowd the league has ever seen, with more than 74,000 fans packing into Bank of America Stadium.

Unfortunately for the home side, they weren’t able to pick up their first win. Despite a spirited performance by Charlotte, the Galaxy were able to come out on top, 1-0, thanks to an incredible effort by Efrain Alvarez. Things were tied at zero late in the second half when the Mexican international got on the ball in the attacking third. No one from Charlotte closed him down, so Alvarez decided to let one rip from outside the box.

Despite the angle being rather awkward, Alvarez let loose with his magical right foot and aimed for the opposite corner of the goal. Charlotte keeper Kristijan Kahlinal looked like he had most of the goal covered, but there was a tiny window where he could be beat, and somehow, Alvarez managed to put the ball exactly in that spot.

Charlotte pushed to rescue a point, and came close on a late header by Daniel Rios, but he ultimately couldn’t find the back of the net.

The goal was the 19-year-old Alvarez’s first of the year and the fourth of his MLS career.

Coach K Apologized To Duke Fans For Their ‘Unacceptable’ Loss To North Carolina In His Final Home Game

The eyes of the college basketball world were on Cameron Indoor Stadium on Saturday evening. The Duke Blue Devils played host to the North Carolina Tar Heels in the latest matchup between college basketball’s most bitter rivals, and this time around, the game came with an emotional twist: Legendary Duke coach Mike Krzyzewski coached his final game in front of the Cameron Crazies.

It looked like Duke was going to send him off with a win, as the No. 4 team in America took a 41-39 lead into the locker room at halftime, but the Tar Heel offense could not be stopped in the second half. By the time the game came to an end, North Carolina picked up a 94-81 win.

The win was legitimately gigantic for UNC, which was flirting with the NCAA Tournament bubble but should be safe now. But for Duke, sending Coach K out like this did not go over well at all, especially considering the fact that the university put on a ceremony once the game ended. Before it could begin, though, a visibly annoyed Krzyzewski stepped up to the mic and addressed the crowd.

“This isn’t part of the program, this is impromptu by me: I’m sorry about this afternoon,” Krzyzewski said.

As Duke fans began to make clear that they found this unnecessary, he told the crowd to quiet down before saying it was “unacceptable.”

“But the season,” he continued, “has been very acceptable. And I’ll tell you, the season isn’t over, alright?”

Krzyzewski then made his way to his seat, at which point a ceremony began celebrating his career at Duke.

Magic Johnson Ripped The Lakers For Underachieving And Called Out Russell Westbrook For Making ‘Excuses’

The Los Angeles Lakers got yet another national TV spot on Saturday night, as the team is playing host to the Golden State Warriors on ABC. Before the game, ESPN’s NBA Countdown crew was joined by a special guest who knows a thing or two about the Lakers, Magic Johnson.

Unsurprisingly, Johnson had planet to say about the state of the team, which entered the game 27-35 and in ninth place in the Western Conference. After saying the team has “underperformed” and had “a season of, really, a lot of lows more than highs” in which they’ve performed poorly on both ends of the court, Johnson laid out his reasons for optimism for the remainder of the season. But after he did that, he called out one Laker in particular for how they’ve performed this year: Russell Westbrook.

“Now, all is not lost yet,” Johnson said. “We’re in ninth place — no no, not yet. Because I remember in 1991, we played poor up until the last two months of the season, we turned it around, when the Bulls beat us in ’91 in the Finals when nobody thought we could make it. Hopefully Anthony Davis will come back.

“But Russell Westbrook, young man, you gotta know, there was expectations when you called LeBron and Anthony Davis and said you wanted to be a Laker,” he continued. “You saw Kobe Bryant play and win all those championships, and Kobe said you were the guy. So you know you had to come here knowing that it’s about championships when you put the purple and gold on. Quit battling the press, take ownership and accountability and say, ‘Hey, I haven’t played well, but I got a chance to turn it around.’ So, I’m tired of excuses, it’s time to take ownership and say, ‘I’ve just been playing poorly, but hopefully I can turn it around.’”

Johnson went on to say that the Westbrook trade has the potential to be, should the team crash and burn in the play-in tournament, “the worst trade in Laker history.”

How Does Tommy Plan To Take Down The Serbian Mafia In ‘Power?’

(SPOILERS for this week’s Power Book IV: Force will be found below.)

One of Tommy Egan’s main goals in Chicago is to make as much money as possible before moving on to the next city. One way he wants to do that is by knocking the Serbian Mafia out of the city and control the drug pipeline that held on the west side of Chicago. To do this, Tommy would have to knock off their leaders which he did in episode four. He was forced to do this without Diamond, as he felt like the task was too dangerous, but things are changing.

How Does Tommy Take Down The Serbs In ‘Power?’

After Diamond refused to help Tommy in episode four, Tommy recruited Vic to help him get the job done and begin knocking off the Serbian Mafia. After Diamond learns about Vic’s involvement, he changes his mind and decides to help Tommy and Vic with the takeover. The trio agrees on a 34-33-33 split for the Serbs’ pipeline when they are taken down. Tommy and Vic also agree that the majority in the split will go to Diamond.

The trio gathers their troops and they invade the Serbs territory and successfully kill all the members in their way. Things don’t do exactly as planned as Elijah, Jenard’s best friend, is killed and Liliana is also kidnapped, which leads to Tommy nearly getting shot and killed.

Who Tries To Kill Tommy In ‘Power?’

(SPOILERS for this week’s Power Book IV: Force will be found below.)

In 50 Cent’s latest Power spin-off, Power Book IV: Force, Tommy Egan is at the forefront of everything. A move from New York City to Chicago finds Tommy in pursuit of one thing and one thing only: money. Tommy’s refusal to back down from anything that tries to stop him from making money earns him a few enemies in the Windy City. As a result, within the first five episodes of the first season of Power Book IV: Force, someone tries to kill Tommy, but their attempt was successful. But who was it?

Who Tries To Kill Tommy In ‘Power?’

Towards the end of the episode, Tommy is once again toe-to-toe with the Serbian Mafia after he tracks them down to rescue Liliana, who was kidnapped by them. As Tommy and the Serbs are ready to come to blows, a black SUV drives by and fires shots in Tommy’s direction. Luckily for Tommy, they missed and hit Liliana instead, but she too will survive. The final moments of the episode show Jenard burning the same black SUV, proving that it was most likely him who fired at Tommy.

It appears that Jenard tried to kill Tommy as revenge for his best friend Elijah, played by Jeremih, dying during a mission to kill members of the Serbian Mafia.

Who Is Dahlia In ‘Power?’

(SPOILERS for this week’s Power Book IV: Force will be found below.)

If there’s one thing that Tommy Egan will do during his time in Chicago, it’s make a deal with someone. He’s made deals with Liliana, who tried to kill him, Diamond and Vic, who were initially rivals to him, and even a random older guy as Tommy gave him some money to immediately move out of his house. Tommy’s latest deal finds him working with Claudia, as the two prepare to sell a brand new drug that Claudia and her partner Mai brought forth together. Tommy and Claudia’s relationship also brings a new name into the mix: Dahlia

Who Is Dahlia In ‘Power?’

Dahlia is the name of the new drug that Claudia wants to put out to the streets of Chicago. During episode three, Claudia says the drug has a chemical compound that is “too close to cocaine.” She also noted that it was deprived from a “busted diet pill.” In this week’s episode, Claudia tracks down Tommy for a second time and lets him try the drug, which leaves him completely blown away at how clean of a high it gives him.

After a failed attempt by him and Liliana to figure out the components of the drug, Tommy agrees to work with Claudia to move the product in the streets. The two agree on a 60/40 split on profits with Tommy receiving the majority.

New episodes of STARZ’s ‘Power Book IV: Force’ are available to watch on Sunday at 12:00am EST.

Here Is The Gigantic List Of Former Players Returning To Duke For Mike Krzyzewski’s Final Home Game

The end of an era of college basketball will take place on Saturday night. Longtime Duke coach Mike Krzyzewski will lead the Blue Devils out onto the floor at Cameron Indoor Stadium for the final time in his career in a game against the team’s bitter rivals, the North Carolina Tar Heels.

It’s a game Duke should win — they’re 11-point favorites and demolished Carolina in Chapel Hill by 20 earlier this year — but even if they were gigantic underdogs, the environment at Cameron Indoor for Coach K’s final game is assuredly going to be electric. Much has been made of the price of tickets for the game, with tickets costing up to five figures for those who want to get in the building.

One apparently pretty easy way to get into the arena is to be a former Duke player. The program dropped a list of nearly 100 former players who will be in attendance for the game, and while some of the most prominent Blue Devils in the league (RJ Barrett, Brandon Ingram, Zion Williamson, etc.) won’t be able to make it, a number of current and former players — many of whom got booed a lot in college because they went to Duke — will be there.

The game will tip off at 6 p.m. EST on ESPN.

Marco Rubio Is Under Fire For Tweeting A Photo Of Volodymyr Zelensky During A Zoom Call After Being Told Not To

On Saturday, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky met with U.S. lawmakers over Zoom. It was a grim call. The embattled world leader detailed the increasing aggression from Russian forces, who invaded the neighboring nation a week-and-a-half ago on the orders of its president, Vladimir Putin. Zelensky’s own life is in jeopardy, and to protect him, his people informed those participating to not share anything about it over social media. But two GOP senators didn’t heed that warning.

As per NBC News, Marco Rubio, the oft-controversial senator from Florida who has, unlike some in his party, warned of Putin’s ambitions, and Steve Daines of Maine both posted pictures of Zelensky on the Zoom call to their Twitter accounts. It was exactly what they were told not to do as part of the bipartisan meetings, which had been set up by House leaders Chuck Schumer and Mitch McConnell. Both posts were met with scorn, with people accusing the two Republican senators of recklessly endangering Zelensky, who has been the subject of assassination plots.

“The Ukrainian Ambassador very intentionally asked each of us on the zoom to NOT share anything on social media during the meeting to protect the security of President Zelenskyy,” tweeted Democratic representative Dean Phillips of Minnesota, in a quote-tweet that included Rubio’s offending tweet. “Appalling and reckless ignorance by two US Senators.”

Representative Jason Crow, of Colorado, did not quote-tweet Rubio or Daines in his own upbraiding. “The lack of discipline in Congress is truly astounding,” he wrote. “If an embattled wartime leader asks you to keep quiet about a meeting, you better keep quiet about the meeting. I’m not saying a damn thing. Lives are at stake.”

As of this writing, both Rubio and Daines’ posts remain live, despite countless pleas to take them down.

Rubio and Daines weren’t the only Republican congresspeople to screw up during the call. Another Florida senator, Rick Scott, also forgot to mute his microphone.

On the call, Zelensky’s warned that, should the invasion persist, the problem might spread across the continent. “This will become Europe’s problem,” he said, adding that “this might be the last time you see me alive.”

Since the Russian invasion began, Ukrainian people, including Zelensky, have fought back and hard, refusing to stand down, and in Zelensky’s case even turning down an evacuation offer. “I need ammunition, not a ride,” Zelensky reportedly said. Russian forces have stepped up their attacks, even targeting Europe’s largest nuclear power plant. The right, meanwhile, has struggled to find a consistent message, with some of them providing praise that was then used by Russian state propaganda.

Jordan Davis, Who Is 6’6 And 341 Pounds, Ran The 40-Yard Dash In 4.82 Seconds At The NFL Combine (UPDATE)

UPDATE: Lol it was actually faster.

EARLIER: One of the fun parts of the NFL Draft Combine is watching the big fellas run the 40-yard dash. Whether they’re offensive or defensive linemen, watching the dudes who line up in the trenches show off their wheels is always a blast, especially when one of them is able to break the 5-second mark.

You can count Jordan Davis among the linemen who managed to shatter that. Davis, a unanimous All-American and the mountain of a man in the middle of Georgia’s indomitable defensive line last season, is expected to be one of the first defensive tackles taken at the 2022 NFL Draft, if not the first one off the board. Everyone knew Davis was huge, and thanks to the Combine, we got his hilarious exact measurements.

He is large! Guys this size normally throw down an insane number on the bench press and then look like they’re running into a strong wind when they run their 40. Davis, however, is a freak, and managed to run the 40-yard dash in 4.82 seconds.

The simulcast of his run is also extremely funny.

For comparison, Josh Allen, a quarterback who is revered for his ability to run, had a 4.75-second 40 at the Combine. There were quarterbacks and tight ends this year who did not eclipse his time, and Davis would have had the fastest time among offensive linemen. All of this is to say: an NFL team should draft him very high, because they will be extremely happy with their decision.

The Game Believes He Can Beat Eminem In A ‘Verzuz,’ But People Think Otherwise

The Game loves to make bold claims. Earlier this week, The Game said that Kanye West did more for his career in two weeks than Dr. Dre did over his. It should be noted that Dre signed The Game to Aftermath back in 2003 and executive produced his debut album, The Documentary. Prior to that, The Game claimed that he’s the best rapper from Compton, though fans of Kendrick Lamar among others strongly disagreed.

Now The Game has a new claim: During a recent interview on NORE and DJ EFN’s podcast Drink Champs, he said that he could beat Eminem if they battled on Verzuz. “Eminem is Eminem, I like Eminem,” he said during the episode. “He’s one of the f*ckin good MCs, great MCs. I used to think Eminem was better than me. He not, he’s not. Challenge it. Yes, I do [Want to do Verzuz against Eminem].” After seeing the reaction from those around him, The Game pressed on. “What you mean, yeah I do. The f*ck you mean. I’m not saying I want smoke with Eminem, I’m saying I want smoke with Eminem, him, and him, whoever.”

After The Game’s comments made their way around social media, people were very quick to disagree with him:

You can watch a clip from the interview above and see the full interview here.
