Leaked Audio Finds Kevin McCarthy Calling Out Matt Gaetz And Mo Brooks For Putting Fellow Lawmakers In ‘Jeopardy’

Before his party was all but consumed by loose cannon conspiracy theorists and cowardly careerists, House minority leader Kevin McCarthy tried to do the right thing. There’s even proof. Last week, The New York Times released audio dating from after the Jan. 6 riot, in which he slammed outgoing president Donald Trump. He tried to deny it, because, of course, he changed his mind about rescuing his increasingly anti-democratic party, and only ended up outing himself as a proven liar. Now there’s more.

NYT has once again made public audio they obtained of the GOP big wig, this one targeting a number of Trumpist lawmakers, most notably Matt Gaetz, not long before it was revealed he was under federal investigation for ties to a sex trafficking ring.

In a call on Jan. 10 with fellow GOP leadership, McCarthy discussed reining in representatives who’d spent the days since the Capitol riot going on news networks, blasting their colleagues. McCarthy singled out Gaetz, who had recently gone on Newsmax to call out then-top Republican Liz Cheney, who was also on the call, for being critical of Trump. The political climate, McCarthy argued, was “too crazy” for such rhetoric.”

“He’s putting people in jeopardy,” McCarthy said of Gaetz. “And he doesn’t need to be doing this. We saw what people would do in the Capitol, you know, and these people came prepared with rope, with everything else.”

Added Louisiana representative Steve Scalise, “It’s potentially illegal what he’s doing.”

The group also discussed Alabama representative Mo Brooks, who’d told the crowd gathered in D.C. that day, who were about to storm the Capitol, to “fight like hell.”

“You think the president deserves to be impeached for his comments?” McCarthy asked. “That’s almost something that goes further than what the president said.”

McCarthy then issued a stern warning to be given to those underneath him. “Our members have got to start paying attention to what they say, too, and you can’t put up with that s*it,” he thundered.

Then, of course, a newly emboldened McCarthy did exactly what he promised. Just kidding! He did nothing, and he soon capitulated to the dregs of his party, thus turning down the opportunity to rescue the GOP, and the country as a whole, from a potentially very grim future indeed.

Jimmy Fallon and Justin Timberlake shared some truly wholesome pics from their golf day

There’s BFFs, and then there’s Jimmy Fallon and Justin Timberlake.

Their friendship (of nearly 18 years, by the way) is the stuff of wholesome pop culture legend. From goofy music videos to hilarious SNL sketches, Fallon and Timberlake always appear to take such enthusiastic and genuine joy in one another. Which may or may not make Timberlake’s wife Jessica Biel a tad jealous.

When the duo went out for a few rounds of golf in Las Vegas (according to Today), the two seemed to bring out their inner kids once again. The day consisted of jumping, dancing, chest bumping, shooting hoops (wait, which sport is happening here?), rolling around in the grass, a few sit-ups … oh yeah, and they also golfed, Timberlake assured in the caption of his Instagram post.

Timberlake’s video is set to Leo Sayer’s “You Make Me Feel Like Dancing,” which sums up his relationship with Fallon in a nutshell.

They were also seen applying sunscreen on one another. Because everyone knows that real friends don’t let other friends get sunburnt.

Fallon posted his own video to Instagram, set to Greg Street’s “Good Day.”

Seriously, it looks like a bunch of 6-year-old boys galloping around in a field, not men well into their 40s hangin’ out on a golf course. And I mean that in the best way.

Timberlake seemed to be in particularly good form that day, despite the shenanigans. After knocking the ball closest to the hole during the 19th hole shootout, he quickly dropped the mic—or rather, club—and proceeded to show us all how it was no big deal really with a bunch of shrugs.

Ever the loving hype man, Fallon wouldn’t stop cheering his buddy on.

8amgolf, the tournament being held, wrote on its own page “find yourself a partner who knows how to celebrate.”

Though 8amgolf announced football players Travis Kelce and Patrick Mahomes II as the game’s champions of the day, Fallon and Timberlake are clearly the MVPs of bromance. And we love them for it.

May all our friendships be as full of silly, fun and childlike antics as a day of golf with Jimmy and Justin.

Adopted puppy takes first walk with new family and digs up treasure worth nearly $8,000

Many a canine lover would agree that all dogs add value to our lives. But let’s face it, Ollie takes it to a whole new level.

Adam Clark and Kim Mcguire of Blackpool, England, originally bought little Ollie as a surprise for their daughter Alice. However, it turns out they were in store for a lovely surprise as well.

Ollie is much more than an adorable face. His breed, the lagotto romagnolo, once used its keen sense of smell to hunt waterfowl in the wet marshlands of Italy, according to Dog Time. Here’s an example of what a lagotto romagnolo looks like:

Cuteness at 110%.

Pretty much a teddy bear on four legs.

These pups are also natural diggers, and nowadays the only dogs bred specifically to hunt for truffles.

These talents came into play rather quickly when after only 10 minutes into his first family walk in the park, Ollie began to frantically dig into the soil.

Much to everyone’s surprise, Ollie dug up what appeared to be 15 sovereign coins, meaning pieces of gold that could date back as far as 1489.

puppy finds gold coins worth $8000

Clark took the coins to be examined by a reputable gold dealer, who not only deemed the coins legitimate, they valued them to be £5,943.96, equivalent to $7,564. It’s not clear how much the family paid for Ollie, but it seems safe to say that they got their money back … and then some.

Though Ollie’s find is remarkable, Clark still finds his presence to be the ultimate gift. “The treasure is one thing, but the fact is, I’ve bought myself my very own gold hunter, and I cannot wait to take him out again,” he told The U.S. Sun. “He is obviously a very special pup, and I’m thrilled with what he brings to the table — quite literally!”

And while lagotto romagnolos work really well for finding truffles (and potentially 19th century gold coins), they also make for great companions. Dog Time adds that they are easily trainable, good with children and their hypoallergenic coats keep allergies at bay, though they do require dedicated grooming. It’s a pretty even trade-off for their undying affection and easy-going attitudes. Especially if they happen upon a small fortune!

There’s no real telling what other trinkets Ollie might dig up. But one thing’s for sure—he’s making his family very happy. And that is priceless.

Robert Pattinson Will Officially Return To Gloomy Gotham For More Emo Caped Crusader Action In A Sequel To ‘The Batman’

It was hampered by a massive delay mid-shooting due to a certain once-in-a-century public health crisis. It ran three hours long. It was dropped on HBO Max less than two months after release. An actual bat got loose at one of its screenings. And yet The Batman proved a bona fide smash, becoming one of the too few blockbusters released since the pandemic began. And now, at long last, there will officially be more.

As per The Hollywood Reporter, Warner Bros. and DC waited till this year’s CinemaCon to announce that The Batman was getting the sequel it was bound to get anyway. Director Matt Reeves will be returning, as will star Robert Pattinson, though it’s not clear who among the vast supporting cast will join them. Will the next one’s villain be the not-so-mysterious dude from the final scene? Or will they think outside the box and go with Pattinson’s weirdo pick for best Batman baddie: Condiment King.

Of course, fans of the film won’t have to wait a few more years to go back to Gotham. HBO Max already has multiple spin-off series in the works, including one about Colin Farrell’s flamboyantly Italian take on the Penguin, as well as one that was supposed to be about Gotham’s police force but now appears to be about Arkham Asylum. In the meantime, prepare for more wacky RPatz profiles that will amusingly gibe with his brooding, emo take on the Caped Crusader.

Rand Paul Proudly Parrots Putin Talking Points And Claims The Russia Only Invades Countries That ‘Were Part Of Russia’

It’s been more than 30 years since the Soviet Union collapsed, but Rand Paul doesn’t seem to have time for semantics about how places like Ukraine are independent nations—or how hard they fought to achieve that sovereignty. Which, oddly enough, is kind of how Vladimir Putin views the world around him, too (much of which he believes is Russia’s for the taking).

As the New York Daily News reports, Paul and Secretary of State Antony Blinken (who also rocks out under the name Ablinken) got into a bit of a verbal scuffle on Tuesday when the Kentucky senator decided to place the blame for Russia’s invasion of Ukraine squarely on the Biden administration for “agitating” and “beating the drums to admit Ukraine to NATO.” Blinken wasted no time in clarifying that it wasn’t a case of “agitating for Ukraine’s admission” but of standing up for the right of independent countries to make “sovereign decisions.”

Paul, perhaps realizing that he was kind of echoing the reasons Putin himself has given for invading Ukraine, made sure to state that “there is no justification for to the invasion, I’m not saying that,” then added, “But there are reasons for the invasion.” Oh, Rand—nooooo!

He didn’t end there either. “In fact,” Paul continued, “had Ukraine been in NATO… we would now have troops in Ukraine.” Which is something Paul admits he “very much” opposes. But Blinken wasn’t about to let him get off that easy.

“If you look at the countries Russia has attacked over the last years,” Blinken explained, pointing to Georgia, Moldova, and of course Ukraine, he noted that “these were countries that were not part of NATO. It has not attacked NATO countries for probably a very good reason.”

Then came Paul’s cringe-inducing defense, which seems to have forgotten that the last 30 years have happened: “You could also argue the countries they’ve attacked were part of Russia… or were part of the Soviet Union.”

“Yes, and I firmly disagree with that proposition,” Blinken replied. “It is the fundamental right of these countries to decide their own future and their own destiny.” Still, Paul wasn’t about to back down—because, dammit, these countries “were part of the Soviet Union, and they were part of the Soviet Union since the 1920s.”

Blinken, understandably at a loss for words, reiterated that “that does not give Russia the right to attack them. On the contrary. They were liberated from being part of this empire by force.”

Wait until someone tells Paul, who seems to be stuck in the 1920s, that women can vote now and Prohibition is over.

Charles Barkley Responded To Kevin Durant’s IG Posts, But Mostly Yelled More At Kenny Smith

The talk of the NBA world on Tuesday was the Brooklyn Nets getting swept by the Boston Celtics, with Jayson Tatum once again leading the way in Monday’s Game 4 win on the road at Barclays Center.

While Boston awaits the winner of the Bucks-Bulls series, with Milwaukee currently up 3-1, the focus immediately after the series ended was on Brooklyn’s failure given the championship expectations both coming into the season and into the playoffs. Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving shouldered the load of that, but Durant in particular found himself being the most discussed in terms of falling short of expectations this postseason.

Durant struggled in the first three games before a 39-point effort in Game 4 that still wasn’t enough, and Charles Barkley made waves earlier in the series when he pointed out that Durant is seeing how different life is when you’re driving the bus and not a bus rider on a championship squad. On Tuesday, Durant responded by posting pictures of Barkley being a bus rider on the Sixers and Rockets as he chased a title late in his career, and unsurprisingly that is where Inside the NBA started on Tuesday night’s broadcast.

Barkley joked he could’ve posted pictures of Durant with James Harden and Russell Westbrook in OKC, but noted that he felt his point had been taken too far and that all he was trying to point out is that life is harder when you don’t have the infrastructure around you like there was in Golden State and that Durant struggling in that environment was notable. From there, Kenny Smith chimed in and it devolved into Chuck mostly yelling at Kenny, once again telling him he wasn’t part of this conversation and then getting mad when Smith, who was actually trying to defend Barkley, said he views him as a champion anyways.

Eventually, poor Ernie had to step in and move everyone on to the actual games happening that night, but it seems Chuck isn’t backing down off his point but does want to be clear that he’s not knocking KD’s greatness.

Justine Skye — “What A Lie”

After releasing her Timbaland-produced album Space And Time last year, Justine Skye returns with “What A Lie” as her first release of 2022. The record, which samples Beyonce’s “All Night,” is an honest and lovelorn release that unloads her feelings toward discovering her ex-lover’s (possibly Giveon) infidelity during their relationship.

Ye Ali — Dangerous (Deluxe)

Ye Ali’s 2021 year concluded with the release of Dangerous, a ten-track release that was one of the stronger bodies of work in his discography. Five months after that project arrived, Ali updates it with seven new songs and two of them are new versions of tracks that originally appeared on Dangerous.

Longtime ‘Fast And Furious’ Director Justin Lin Is Stepping Down As Director Of ‘Fast X’ Less Than A Week After Shooting Began

You could argue that Justin Lin saved the “Fast Saga.” After a big start, the franchise was treading water for years until he breathed new life into it via Fast Five. The solution? Go bigger and more ridiculous. (Mind you, Lin also helmed the previous two outings, which both underperformed. But he still helped steer the ship right.) He returned to the series with last year’s F9, and he was set to do the same for its follow-up, Fast X. But now, as shooting is already under way, that’s no longer to be.

On Tuesday, less than a week after shooting commenced, Lin released a statement that was shared on the franchise’s social media account.

“With the support of Universal, I have made the difficult decision to step back as director of FAST X, while remaining with the project as a producer,” Lin wrote. “Over 10 years and five films, we have been able to shoot the best actors, the best stunts, and the best damn car chases. On a personal note, as the child of Asian immigrants, I am proud of helping to build the most diverse franchise in movie history. I will forever be grateful to the amazing cast, crew and studio for their support, and for welcoming me into the FAST family.”

The news was confirmed by Deadline, who revealed that the shoot will take a brief pause while a replacement is found.

The Fast Saga has seen its share of behind-the-scenes drama, most notably between actors Vin Diesel and Dwayne Johnson. Their feud got so bad that Johnson dragged supporting player Jason Statham over to their own spin-off wing of the franchise. When Diesel offered an olive branch, beckoning him to return to the main wing, Johnson refused.

Fast X is currently due in theaters on May 19, 2023.

‘The View’ Hosts Did Not Like It When Guest Amber Ruffin Called Donald Trump ‘Hilarious’: ‘He’s About As Funny As A Herpes Sore’

People are still reeling from news on Monday that Elon Musk was set to purchase Twitter. It was a hot topic the next day on The View, where the ladies did not seem to buy the world’s richest man’s claim that he was strictly trying to protect “free speech.” One big worry is that Musk may reinstate former president Donald Trump, who was permanently banned shortly after helping foment the Jan. 6 riot. But when guest Amber Ruffin argued that that wouldn’t entirely be a bad thing, her hosts weren’t buying it.

“I think Trump is going to come back to Twitter and it’s going to be horrible, but also very hilarious,” Ruffin told her hosts. “We forget how hilarious Trump is.”

Mind you, Ruffin wasn’t saying Trump is a funny guy, like, on purpose. She meant that he has a peerless knack for saying and doing things so bizarre that one reaction — often the most therapeutic reaction — is to laugh at, not with, him. She brought up a recent example: Trump saying he calls “nuclear” the “n-word,” which is the kind of inventive insanity only his very weird brain is capable of creating.

“And I’m sorry, but Trump is very horrible,” Ruffin said amidst giggles. “We all dislike him very much. That man is hilarious. That’s one of the funniest things I’ve ever heard.”

But her hosts weren’t laughing along with her. “You know, I used to think he was funny,” said Joy Behar. “But, no, he’s about as funny as a herpes sore. I don’t think he’s funny.”

Ana Navarro, noted “Never Trumper” Republican, agreed. “To me, he’s as serious as a heart attack,” she said.

And yet Ruffin’s point stands. After all, remember the trucks? Or the orb? Or his recent Easter message to all the “radical left maniacs”? On the other hand, Behar and Navarro aren’t wrong either.

Lil Shordie Scott’s ‘Rocking A Cardigan In Atlanta’ Just Got An Offset Remix And A Cardi B Shoutout

Sometimes all it takes to get your song noticed is a tweet from Cardi B. Well, it’s not like Lil Shordie Scott didn’t already have a pretty sharp single out with his Cardi B-referencing “Rocking A Cardigan In Atlanta,” but once Cardi herself is acknowledging the song on social media, and her husband Offset is jumping on the remix, things start happening fast.

Three months ago, the Atlanta rapper uploaded his “Rocking A Cardigan In Atlanta” song to Youtube, and it’s racked up about two and a half million views since then. The song starts off with what Scott himself describes as a long intro, where three friends debate what celebrity they’d most like to take a photo with. Doja Cat and Rihanna are both thrown out as ideas, but Scott is set on Cardi B, who he thinks has a great “big sister” vibe. Then, the home video vibes of the clip shift to a drip genie rather magically making his way to their hang, and setting Scott up with a fresh cardigan. That’s when the song kicks in, and well, it was enough to catch the attention of Offset and Cardi.

Check out the original video below, and the remix with Offset up top.

For his part, Scott is pretty excited to get that Cardi B acknowledgement:

Congrats Shordie, this might well be the beginning of a viral hit, and even if it isn’t, having the subject of your song acknowledge it is still a huge win.
