Have you ever watched the critically-acclaimed, award-winning classic Paddington and thought “maybe this could work if it was set in NYC, and he was a crocodile who can sing in the same style as Canadian pop singer Shawn Mendes?” Maybe not, but Sony Pictures took that thought and ran with it! Of course, it’s actually based on a children’s book, but the story is the same. Lyle, Lyle, Crocodile is an upcoming movie that will likely change the face of cinema for years to come, just like Catsand Minions.
The movie stars Shawn Mendes as the voice of the croc who befriends a child who just wants to show the world how great a singing crocodile can be, naturally. Mendes even told People that he “relates” to the story, which is really telling. And he wears a cute scarf!
It gets better: the movie stars Constance Wu, Javier Bardem, and Scoot McNairy, all of whom look like they are taking the role very seriously. McNairy is known for his serious, dark roles, in movies like Argo and 12 Years A Slave. Bardem is also one to take on more gritty roles, like No Country For Old Menand Mother! It is nice to see them having fun with a crocodile that sings. Here is the official synopsis:
When the Primm family (Constance Wu, Scoot McNairy, Winslow Fegley) moves to New York City, their young son Josh struggles to adapt to his new school and new friends. All of that changes when he discovers Lyle – a singing crocodile (Shawn Mendes) who loves baths, caviar and great music-living in the attic of his new home. The two become fast friends, but when Lyle’s existence is threatened by evil neighbor Mr. Grumps (Brett Gelman), the Primm’s must band together with Lyle’s charismatic owner, Hector P. Valenti (Javier Bardem), to show the world that family can come from the most unexpected places and there’s nothing wrong with a big singing crocodile with an even bigger personality.
Even though the premise is silly, that’s probably what people said about Paddington back in the day. And look at where he is now! The movie will be released in theaters (yes–it’s getting a wide release, not straight to streaming) on October 7th.
We are now just two days away from the release of the Baz Luhrmann biopic Elvis, and therefore two days away from the movie’s soundtrack hitting streaming services. Before that happens, though, we’ve been gifted what will presumably be the final pre-album preview, Kacey Musgraves’ rendition of the Elvis Presley classic “Can’t Help Falling In Love.” Musgraves turned in a beautiful rendition of the frequently covered song, going for a downtempo approach, with just her vocals accompanied by piano.
Musgraves was clearly destined to be involved with this project: She recently re-shared a video of herself from 1995, gleefully opening a gift of a Presley cassette and perfume. Of course, her 2018 album Golden Hour also has a highlight called “Velvet Elvis.” She has also performed a Presley cover or two in her day; Here’s a rendition of “Are You Lonesome Tonight” from 2015.
Aside from Musgraves, the Elvis soundtrack features Eminem, CeeLo Green, Ann Nesby, Alton Mason, Chris Isaak, Denzel Curry, Doja Cat, Gary Clark Jr., Jack White, Lenesha Randolph, Jazmine Sullivan, Kacey Musgraves, Kodi Smit-McPhee, Les Greene, Måneskin, Nardo Wick, Paravi, PNAU, Rufus Thomas, Shonka Dukureh, Stevie Nicks, Swae Lee and Diplo, Tame Impala, and Yola.

The blonde ale, also known sometimes as a golden ale, doesn’t really get the respect it deserves in the summery beer world. Despite being frequently overshadowed by IPAs, pale ales, lagers, and pilsners, the blonde ale is a low-bitterness, balanced style that can encompass a wealth of complexity.
Blonde ales can be fermented with lager or even ale yeast. Sometimes simple and citrus-driven, other times they’re spiced, or brewed with fruit or honey. It’s truly a unique, memorable warm-weather beer.
With complexity comes options, and to help you find some of the best takes on this underrated style, we went to our favorite craft beer professionals for help. We asked a handful of craft beer experts and brewers which blondes they prefer for summer refreshment. Keep reading to see all of their picks.
It’s hard to find in many areas of the country, but Eureka from Treehouse in Massachusetts is a really great beer. It’s light in body, as a blonde ale should be, but has great flavor and citrus hop presence. It’s a great summer beer.
Deep Ellum Dallas Blonde
Hector Cavazos, owner and head brewer at Rebel Toad Brewery in Corpus Christi, Texas
Deep Ellum Dallas blonde is great. It’s citrusy and floral. Brewed with Pale, Vienna, and wheat malts as well as a smattering of bright, floral American hops, it’s crisp, light, and easy to drink. It’s the kind of beer you want to drink all afternoon. Especially if it’s a hot day.
Allagash Sixteen Counties is my go-to golden ale. A flavorful Belgian ale brewed with 100% Maine-grown malt. A delicious beer that also tells a great story about a brewery’s commitment to growing agriculture in their own state.
Firestone Walker 805 is a great crisp and refreshing blonde ale, slightly citrusy but not in a hoppy way. It’s a smooth refreshing brew for when you want an easy-drinking ale. It’s the kind of beer you drink all summer long.
Maui Brewing’s Bikini Blonde. I’ve been lucky enough to visit Maui a few times and that beer just brings me right back to early morning poolside happy hours or floating out in a tube watching the sunset, can in hand. It’s a deceptively simple beer with subtle malt sweetness with a crisp and clean finish.
Tropical Mist, Pure Project Brewing is my pick. Lighter beers require a delicate touch and quality ingredients. This blonde ale showcases fresh bready malt character from California-based Admiral Malting, fruity esters from their house hazy strain, and a refreshingly light touch use of locally grown organic Valencia orange. A wonderfully balanced beer with a lot of complexity to keep your interest.
Wynwood La Rubia
Marshall Hendrickson co-founder and head of operations at Veza Sur Brewing Co. in Miami
Wynwood Brewing Co – La Rubia is hard to beat. La Rubia is my go-to blonde ale for many reasons. Wynwood Brewing Co is just a stone’s throw away from our brewery, so I can guarantee it’s always fresh. It’s well balanced with subtle hop bitterness, but most importantly, super crushable.
Three Beaches Honey Blonde Ale by Tyranena Brewing Company in Lake Mills Wisconsin. Like Sprecher, Tyranena perfectly knows how to incorporate honey into its products. Tyranena does an excellent job adding it in the brewing process for a few of their outstanding beers. The honey, citrus, and lemongrass flavors are a perfect combination for a nice, light-drinking, blonde ale.
Crazy Lady Honey Blonde from The Waterfront Brewery in Key West, Florida. What flavors make it great? Crafted with locally sourced honey from up the Keys adding another dimension to an already crushable blonde ale. Light, crisp, citrus, and honey. What’s not to love?
Roughly a week before 2022 NBA free agency is slated to kick off, Pat Connaughton will exercise his $5.7 million player option to remain with the Milwaukee Bucks in 2022-23, according to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski.
Milwaukee Bucks guard Pat Connaughton is exercising his $5.7 million option to return for the 2022-2023 season, sources tell ESPN.
Following Connaughton’s career-best campaign, there was some speculation he might decline that player option and enter the market, presumably receiving a pay raise from Milwaukee or another team in the process. Yet the 29-year-old swingman will stay put with the Bucks, as they look to deliver a second title in three seasons to Milwaukee.
During 2021-22, he averaged career-highs in points (9.9) and steals (0.9) per game, while shooting 39.5 percent beyond the arc on 370 attempts. His 62 percent true shooting was also the second-highest of his career, only trailing 2016-17, when he played 316 minutes for the Portland Trail Blazers.
Connaughton provides a blend of high-volume floor-spacing and heady off-ball movement for and Milwaukee. He’s an impactful offensive rebounder and cutter, and does not let a few misses or a cold streak rattle his confidence as a 3-point shooter. While the Boston Celtics encountered considerable success against him on switches in this year’s second round, he’s generally a sufficient defender in most contexts as well.
The 2022 NBA Draft looks to be as unpredictable a draft as we’ve seen in years, as there’s even a question of who will go No. 1 overall with just over 24 hours until the Orlando Magic are, officially, on the clock.
In some order, the top three picks are expected to be Jabari Smith, Chet Holmgren, and Paolo Banchero, with the most intrigue at the top being what the Kings do at No. 4, with Jaden Ivey as the consensus fourth best player in this class, but the Kings having not even spoken to the Purdue prospect amid rumors they’re looking to trade down (for a steep fee). All four of those prospects will be among the 24 overall that will sit in the green room at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn and wait for their names to be called in person, as the league announced the full list of accepted invites on Wednesday afternoon.
NBA Draft 2022 presented by State Farm® will take place on Thursday, June 23 at 8 p.m. ET at Barclays Center in Brooklyn, N.Y.
Below are the prospects who will be in attendance tomorrow night in the Green Room. pic.twitter.com/y6h2KnryB8
A green room invite isn’t a guarantee of a first round selection, but most of those players figure to hear their name called in the first 30 picks. There are a few who are in that late first/early second projected window, but whether called by Adam Silver or Mark Tatum, all 24 will hit the stage and achieve a lifelong dream on Thursday night.
Thanks to Deadpool becoming a smash hit despite a shoestring budget and a non-supportive studio, Ryan Reynolds has become not just a massive movie star, but a marketing super guru. The actor was extremely hands-on for the aggressive publicity campaigns for both Deadpool movies. His presence was undeniable, which was all part of the decades-long struggle he went through to get the Merc from the Mouth a proper live-action film after the character was practically unrecognizable in X-Men Origins: Wolverine.
Of course, the first Deadpool‘s success would have never been possible had test footage found its way online, and Reynolds recently had some cheeky words for whoever might have been responsible. (If you get the impression from this quote that the leaker might be Reynolds, we had the same thought.) Via Deadline:
“I spent ten years trying to get the film Deadpool made — it was hell,” he told an audience at the Cannes Lions advertising event in France today. “We shot some test footage, some absolute bastard leaked it onto the internet, and that’s what got the movie made.”
Thanks to whoever the leaker might be, Deadpool is one of the few characters to survive the Disney/Fox merger. In fact, a third film that will fully introduce the character into the Marvel Cinematic Universe is on its way, and major stars are already fighting over who gets a cameo.
During a new interview to promote Thor: Love and Thunder, Chris Hemsworth cheekily threatened to use his MCU clout to get himself a Deadpool 3 appearance just to spite Hugh Jackman, who’s been angling to be in the film. “I might make some calls, make sure that doesn’t happen,” Hemsworth joked to BBC Radio 1.
Apparently, there can be only one Australian hero in the MCU.
These new Mura Masa tracks are hitting different, straight up. As the Grammy-nominated British glitch-pop producer gears up for the September 26th release of his next album, Demon Time, we’ve heard a slew of excellent singles that push the envelope of expectation, while straddling styles from hyper pop to dance hall, trap, and more.
Now on his latest offering, “Hollaback B*tch,” Mura Masa taps in with vocals from Shygirl and Channel Tres for a splashy summer dance tune. A hammed up steel drum effect cascades along with a silky saxophone for a rhythmic kaleidoscope that Shygirl and Tres soar over. “I won’t be a hollaback b*tch,” they sing in a back and forth vocal approach that hits.
“Hollaback Bitch” follows last month’s release of “Blessing Me,” which featured British rapper Pa Salieu and Jamaican spittah Skillibeng. Shygirl made another appearance on the blooming sounds of “Bbycakes,” which has an all-star cast of guests that also includes PinkPantheress and Lil Uzi Vert. The first offering from Demon Time came out last November, in the “2gether,,” where Mura Masa gorgeously handles all vocal duties himself.

Demon Time is out 9/16 via Polydor Records. Pre-order it here.

Screen Rantreports that “That UFO Podcast host Dan Zetterström took to Twitter to share an MCU Skrull translator,” which he claims reveals an f-bomb in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2. If you look closely in the background of the scene where Star-Lord tells Groot to clean his room, there’s text on the wall. It apparently reads, “F*ck you,” which is perfect for angsty teen Groot. His Awesome Mix is mostly Bad Religion and NOFX.
“Here’s the translator for you. Most shows up in GOTG2. Judging by the graffiti in his room, Groot has a foul mouth. Have fun!” Zetterström tweeted, along with a screenshot of his evidence. The tweet caught the attention of Guardians of the Galaxy writer and director James Gunn, who replied, “Adolescent Groot definitely has a potty mouth.” It’s not a confirmation of the MCU’s first “f*ck,” but it’s also not not confirmation.
When summer weather hits, we tend to gravitate towards lower-alcohol beers for multiple reasons. First of all, there’s a good chance a lower-ABV beer will be light, crisp, not too heavy, and refreshing. Secondly, since they are low in alcohol, you can drink a few more than you might normally drink while you enjoy the warm, sunny weather on your back deck, patio, or a small strip of grass in the middle of a local park. In the industry, we call those kind of lower-ABV beers “session beers.”
Session generally refers to any beer that’s under 5% ABV. While many beer styles fall under that category, they’re generally lighter than their high-ABV counterparts and have a good balance of malts and hops. Crisp, refreshing, light.
Session beers are great for summer drinking, so it’s high time to let you in on some of the best available choices. To that end we decided to ask a handful of our favorite craft beer experts and brewers to tell us the best session beers of all time.
Modelo Especial
Seth Wile, head brewer and owner of Okay Beer Company in Honeoye Falls, New York
I choose Modelo Especial. Modelo is one of my favorite summer session beers because of how crisp and clean it is. It’s a very light pilsner-style lager that doesn’t drink thin or watery and is able to exhibit wonderful flavors of light honey/biscuit from the malt and agreeable herbaceousness from the hops. They go down easy and never disappoint.
What the writer says:
When it comes to Mexican lagers, it’s tough to beat the sessionable, crisp, easy-drinking nature of Modelo Especial. It’s the kind of beer I’ll reach past many other lagers in a cooler to get to on a hot summer day.
Miller High Life
Jeremy Marshall, brewmaster at Lagunitas Brewing in Petaluma, California
I like that we aren’t necessarily talking session IPAs and I generally tend to think of session beers as what could be referred to as “spacers.” A spacer is anything that has a low alcohol content that tends to taste better the colder you can get it (the reverse is also true, so tastes not good the warmer it is). The key is to literally anesthetize your mouth if it is really cold. That said, the ultimate spacer is Miller High Life, but again, I should say extremely cold Miller High Life. Crisp, clean, refreshing, and very easy to drink.
What the writer says:
Miller High Life is undoubtedly one of the best, most sessionable beers of all time. It’s not just the iconic glass bottle either. It’s the light, crisp, easy-drinking, highly crushable flavor of the High Life. It’s the kind of low-ABV beer you want to pair with summer afternoon yard games.
I’m digging Failsafe Pilsner brewed by Woven Water Brewing for a sessionable, crisp brew. Definitely fits the bill for a classic session brew that goes down easy with a subtle hop classic pilsner finish. It’s an all-time favorite when it comes to summery sessionable, easy-to-drink beers.
What the writer says:
Sadly, I haven’t had a chance to try this one. But it sounds right up my alley. I can’t turn down a crisp, well-made pilsner during the summer months.
Founders All Day IPA
Eric Espinoza, bartender at Signia by Hilton in San Jose, California
Founders Brewing All Day IPA. This one is such an easy session IPA. Sometimes, I’m in the mood for the bigger flavors of an IPA but don’t want to be drowned in the higher ABV they tend to come with. All Day IPA is just what the name says. It’s a no-brainer as an alternative to a lager or pilsner and has just the right balance of citrus and piney notes. Never too much of any one thing.
What the writer says:
There’s a reason this beer is called “All Day IPA”. It’s slightly bitter, floral, and filled with bright citrus flavors that make it perfect for a hot day. The low-alcohol content makes it extremely sessionable as well, but doesn’t take away from the overall flavor.
Zero Gravity McLighty’s Lager
Justin Tisdale, head brewer at Rejects Brewing Co. in Middletown, Rhode Island
I generally avoid anything that deliberately labels itself as a “session beer” since it’s generally just a knocked-down boring example of an already existing offering. But, if I were to go for something lower in alcohol, and something more “sessionable” for a big day out in the sun, I would have to lean towards Zero Gravity’s Mclighty’s Lager. I just discovered this beer and it’s been secretly hiding in my brewery cooler ever since I found it. It’s super low in alcohol, yet crazy high in flavor and body. Solid beer to go crush in the cooler while you wait for your spare shirts to dry out on top of the kettle.
What the writer says:
With a name like Mclighty’s Light Lager you might assume this is nothing but yellow, fizzy water with little to no flavor. You’d be completely wrong. While the name is a cheeky way of explaining that it’s a session beer, this lager is still crisp, flavorful, and highly memorable.
Notch Session Pils is a great beer to drink in the summertime. This light lager has tons of malt flavor, and plenty of Saaz flavor and aroma, matched with a clean fermentation profile. A no-brainer for the summer. It’s one of the most perfectly balanced summery, sessionable beers on the market.
What the writer says:
Notch is well-known in the craft beer world and they might not have a more famous beer than its Session Pils. Even though it’s touted as a low-ABV pilsner, it’s loaded with floral hops and crisp citrus flavors.
Cannonball Creek Brewing Trump Hands is my go-to. The hardest part of making a session IPA is not sacrificing the flavor in pursuit of lower alcohol. This beer sacrifices nothing with its bright, citrusy hop profile, and clean, crisp finish. Overall, a very well-balanced, well-made session IPA that will make you rethink your thoughts on low-alcohol beer.
What the writer says:
I was lucky enough to try this beer a few years ago. And while it has a politically silly name, the beer itself is complex and well-balanced with sweet malts paired with citrus and floral, piney, slightly bitter hops at the finish.
Collective Arts Guava Gose
Marshall Hendrickson, co-founder and head of operations at Veza Sur Brewing Co. in Miami
Collective Arts Guava Gose is my go-to session summer beer. I love this Guava Gose from Collective Arts. It’s very well balanced with great guava flavor and not too tart. It’s easy to put down two or three of them without wrecking your palate, which isn’t true for a lot of sours.
What the writer says:
I love this pick because many people immediately look to lagers, pilsners, and IPAs when they think of session beers. This slightly tart, salty, fruity Gose definitely belongs on this list as well.
Lindemans Framboise. This Lambic beer is slightly sweet and slightly tart and infused with raspberries during the aging process. We always start Memorial Day weekend with a bottle and will sip on this throughout the summer. At 2.5% ABV, this is beyond session and becomes the perfect beer for toasting.
What the writer says:
One of the most well-known beer brands in the world, it’s difficult to find a more flavorful, sweet, tart, fruity beer than Lindemans Framboise, and certainly not at a low alcohol level like 2.5%.
Notch Brewing was one of the first breweries to focus exclusively on session beers and they’re still one of the best. Their Salem Lager would be my go-to summer session pick. Bready malts mix with a mellow floral hop character and a soft creamy finish.
What the writer says:
While its Session Pils is more well-known, its Salem Lager might be even better. If you’re a fan of session beers with more malt character paired with citrus and floral hops, Salem Lager should be your jam.
When you see this beer on the shelf at your local beer store, you have a pretty good idea of what you’re getting into — a low-alcohol, crisp, refreshing, easy-to-drink session beer. The kind of beer you load your cooler with and sip on all day in between dips in the ocean or lake you’re lounging near.
“Show Me Love” by Robin S. isn’t just a banger: It’s one of the ultimate 90s house bangers. The diva house classic dominated top-40 radio when it came out in 1990 and has maintained its pizzazz in the 30-plus years since. The remixes and then the remixes of the remixes are still dancefloor staples at clubs around the world because Robin S. brought pure heat to the thunderous groove. And now as we begin to reckon with hip-hop’s inevitable shift towards dance music production thanks to Drake’s surprise dance music album, Honestly, Nevermind, and Beyoncé’s surprise single, “Break My Soul,” it’s time to give credit to innovators like Robin S. when it’s due.
This is exactly what Beyoncé did on “Break My Soul.” The “Crazy In Love” star’s new track uses the infectious stem from “Show Me Love” throughout her new single and it’s just the greatest hat tip imaginable to Robin S. In a recent video that surfaced of Robin S., she’s over the moon at the inclusion of her hit on what’s sure to be one of this summer’s biggest pop music hits.
“This is Robin S. and this message goes out to the Queen Bey herself, Beyoncé,” the emotional singer said in the clip. “To Jay-Z, to the entire team… Thank you so much for giving me my flowers while I’m still alive. I am honored and I am excited to see what else can happen.”

Robin S. said her son called her to say that she was “trending all over the place,” and that even though she was not contacted ahead of time before “Show Me Love” was sampled in “Break My Soul,” she added, “Maybe we can do a collab together. That’s always a dream.”
