Noted Running Enthusiast/Putin Appeaser Josh Hawley Is Proud To Be The Only Senator To Vote Against Admitting Sweden And Finland Into NATO

Josh Hawley is his own man. And he’s so desperate for people to realize that he titled his upcoming book Manhood, which really had people laughing when it was announced just days after footage of him running out of the Capitol like his ass was on fire emerged. On Wednesday, Mediaite reports that the hypocrite of a contrarian decided to run his own way again when he was the sole senator who voted against admitting Sweden and Finland into NATO.

At the conclusion of the vote — the total tally of which was 95-1 (Rand Paul—whose own neighbor once beat him up, seemingly due to proximity—simply said “present” when asked to vote… which isn’t a vote) — Hawley’s fellow senators took aim at the wannabe hotshot from Missouri, who considers himself a bit of a rule-breaker. Even before the vote, and despite Mitch McConnell’s statement that “If any senator is looking for a defensible excuse to vote ‘No,’ I wish them good luck,” Hawley made it known that he’d be voting in the negative.

“Finland and Sweden want to expand NATO because it is in their national security interest to do so,” he said ahead of the vote, according to Mediaite. “And fair enough. The question that should properly be before us, however, is, is it in the United States’ interest to do so?”

Ninety-five of his fellow senators seemed to think so, but when has Hawley ever followed the crowd? (Especially when that crowd is a group of violent insurrectionists who have breached the Capitol.) The typically intolerable Ted Cruz told Politico that Hawley was “mistaken” to have voted the way he did. “We don’t beat China by retreating from the rest of the world,” said Cruz. “We beat China by standing with our allies against our enemies.”

Meanwhile, Marco Rubio actually penned an op-ed for The Washington Examiner, the title of which pretty much said it all “A stronger NATO allows America to focus on the threat of Communist China.”

For his part, post-vote, Hawley went running to his safe place: The Tucker Carlson Show, where he found a like-minded sounding board to talk through his issues with NATO,

Katy Perry Has Apologized To Kim Kardashian For Being Utterly Repulsed By The Idea Of Dating Pete Davidson

Over the past four years or so, Pete Davidson has found himself the apple of many an attractive eye, as he’s been romantically involved with famous figures like Ariana Grande, Kate Beckinsale, Margaret Qualley, and most recently and currently, Kim Kardashian. Davidson’s rich dating history has left some people confused, including Davidson himself, who earlier this year called himself “the diamond in the trash” and said, “There seems to be a curiosity about me, is what my friends tell me. I was trying to figure out how to explain myself to someone because I was doing an interview.”

That curiosity is not something Katy Perry seems to have, as she showed in a recent TikTok video. In the clip, shared last night, Perry plays with the TikTok MASH filter, which automatically picks a dream house, car, number of kids, and lover for her. She had positive reactions to the house and car, but was shell-shocked when she got 6 kids. Then, when Davidson popped up as her lover, her expression became even more pained.

She offered a bit of an apology to Kardashian (and husband Orlando Bloom) for her apparent Davidson disgust in the post’s caption, writing, “No offense @KimKardashian (and Orlando?).”

Commenters had mixed interpretations of the video. The top comment reads, “CRYING NOT THE DISGUST AT PETE LMAO.” Somebody responded with a different point of view, replying, “It’s not disgust it’s just because he’s dating someone lol. Look at the caption.” Another user wrote, “yea she’s disgusted but she put no offense Kim because she doesn’t wanna be rude.”

Now, we await Kardashian’s perspective, as she has yet to offer a public response to the clip.

Proud mama ferret wants her human to pet babies and isn’t taking no for an answer

Sometimes you come across a video that’s just too sweet not to share. That’s the case with this video of a mama ferret that has recently given birth and wants nothing more than her owner to cuddle with her babies. At first it looks like she’s coming over to her owner’s hand for some pets but she soon starts gently trying to get the human fingers in her mouth to pull them. After a few tries, the ferret is successful and tugs the hand over to her box that looks to be filled with material but then tiny cries can be heard.

It’s full of tiny babies! The person does a quick pat and removes their hand but the ferret is having none of it. She is proud of her babies and she is determined for her human to get a good look at them. I’ve always heard that ferrets are smart creatures. I just had no idea they were also so persistent when it comes to things they want. This mama ferret marched herself right back to her human as if to say “excuse me, we aren’t done here.” It doesn’t take much convincing for the person to give the babies another look.

But even after the human picks up one of the babies and gives it a gentle pat before placing it back with its siblings, the mama ferret didn’t feel like that was sufficient. She came right back again and again to guide the person’s hand to her little box of babies.

It’s safe to say she’s proud of the work she’s done. The babies are adorable and I’m sure she is a good mama.

Creators of cancelled ‘Batgirl’ film issue heartfelt message to fans

It’s a heartbreaking reality for artists that sometimes, you put your heart and soul into something, with full hope that it will resonate and inspire others, only to see that idea vanish into thin air. This can be especially true for those who create professionally and have to deal with many factors outside their own control. And, really, even for those of us who don’t identify as artists, the gut-wrenching disappointment of having a dream snatched away is pretty universal.

But when disappointment strikes, perhaps one of the best things we can do is acknowledge the pain, appreciate the opportunity and move on with grace.

This seems to be the road taken for the creators of the would-be “Batgirl” film, which, on Aug. 2, was officially scrapped by Warner Bros, not to be streamed on any platform. Though several reasons have been allegedly attributed to the surprise decision—such as “poor test screenings”—The Hollywood Reporter noted that the film “was a casualty of new corporate strategy,” where the company opted to take a tax write-down rather than opt for any kind of release of the $90 million movie.

This news came as a shock for DC fans, who had not only been eagerly anticipating Michael Keaton’s return as Batman, but a career comeback for Brendan Fraser as well, not to mention a huge win for representation with Leslie Grace playing the titular role as Barbara Gordon.

Despite this news, Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah, the directing duo behind “Batgirl,” released a heartfelt statement on Instagram that ultimately chose a glass-half-full perspective.

“We are saddened and shocked by the news,” they wrote. “We still can’t believe it. As directors, it is critical that our work be shown to audiences, and while the film was far from finished, we wish that fans all over the world would have had the opportunity to see and embrace the final film themselves. Maybe one day they will insha’Allah.”

The pair went on to thank the ”amazing cast and crew” who “did a tremendous job and worked so hard to bring Batgirl to life. We are forever grateful to have been part of that team.“

Their post ended with: “In any case, as huge fans of Batman since we were little kids, it was a privilege and an honor to have been a part of the DCEU, even if it was for a brief moment. Batgirl For Life.”

Leslie Grace also showed an incredible amount of emotional resilience in her own Instagram post.

“I am proud of the love, hard work and intention all of our incredible cast and tireless crew put into this film over 7 months in Scotland. I feel blessed to have worked among absolute greats and forged relationships for a lifetime in the process! To every Batgirl fan – THANK YOU for the love and belief, allowing me to take on the cape and become, as Babs said best, ‘my own damn hero!’” the actress wrote.

Cultivating hope during a time of setbacks isn’t easy. But this was a great example of how it’s done. Odds are we’ll never see what could have been for this version of “Batgirl,” but Arbi, Fallah and Grace have definitely given us a glimpse of her unbeatable courage and optimism nonetheless in their responses.

Johnny Depp And Jeff Beck Are Accused Of Stealing Lyrics From An Incarcerated Man’s Poem

Johnny Depp quickly made his foray back into music before the Amber Heard trial verdict was even handed down in late May by joining his friend Jeff Beck onstage. Shortly after, the pair released an album together, 18. Most of the tracks were covers, but the song “Sad Motherf*ckin’ Parade” appears to take lyrics without credit.

“Hobo Ben” is a song a toast from the mid-’60s by Slim Wilson — a Black poet with an alias due to having been incarcerated — and recorded by Bruce Jackson, and “Sad Motherf*ckin’ Parade” contains lines straight from it. Reported by Rolling Stone, 18 does not credit Wilson or Jackson at all, and Jackson is considering taking legal action.

“The only two lines I could find in the whole piece that [Depp and Beck] contributed are ‘Big time motherf*cker’ and ‘Bust it down to my level,’” Jackson said. “Everything else is from Slim’s performance in my book. I’ve never encountered anything like this. I’ve been publishing stuff for 50 years, and this is the first time anybody has just ripped something off and put his own name on it.”

About the credits that the are given for “Sad Motherf*ckin’ Parade,” Jackson said, “They do not reflect the actual authorship of those lyrics. It’s just not plausible, in my opinion, that Johnny Depp or anybody else could have sat down and crafted those lyrics without almost wholly taking them from some version of my father’s recording and/or book where they appeared.”

What Is Going On With HBO Max?

There has been a lot of confusion surrounding HBO and HBO Max lately. Earlier this week, the company announced that they scrapped any plans to release Batgirl, the $90 million superhero movie with an all-star cast that includes In The Heights’ Leslie Rose, fan-favorite Brendon Fraser, DC veteran JK Simmons and the long-awaited return of Michale Keaton as Batman. HBO Max cites poor test screenings and financial distress as the reason for the decision, though surely the loss is greater than whatever tax benefits the company would receive. So what is the motive here?

There are a few things going on. First, Warner Bros has shifted around its release schedule a lot after merging with Discovery earlier this year. This caused cuts to trickle down to many of the studio’s brands, including TNT and TBS, which recently axed Full Frontal With Samantha Bee.

Then, earlier this week, HBO quietly began pulling various HBO Max original programming from its site and scrubbing some of its upcoming release schedules. Users also noted that HBO originals like Vinyl have been yanked from the streamer, along with all eight Harry Potter movies, which are leaving the platform at the end of this month. It should also be noted that while the streamer removed certain titles, many of HBO Max’s exclusive releases are still on the platform, like Kimi and The Fallout.

While removing content isn’t unheard of (Netflix swaps out movies on a monthly basis) it is strange that the streamer would be taking off its original content. This had fans of popular HBO shows Peacemaker and The Flight Attendant scrambling to be sure that their favorite shows wouldn’t disappear forever. Luckily, it seems like those shows are safe for now.

All of the scrubbing and shifting comes before the company is scheduled to report its second-quarter earnings on Thursday, August 4th. Some reports hint that HBO is slowly moving underperforming movies to a video-on-demand platform for viewers to pay for individually, but nothing is confirmed at the moment.

Beavis And Butt-Head Watched A BTS Video In A New Episode And Beavis Is Clearly Part Of The BTS Army

The new Beavis And Butt-Head series debuted today on Paramount+ and Mike Judge’s iconic ’90s slacker music heads are back in top form. In the new season’s fourth episode, shortly after “removing” a beehive from their garage with a rake, Beavis and Butt-Head sat back down on their legendary couch to do what they do best: watch music videos. Lo and behold, BTS’s “Dynamite” was the first clip to grace the screen.

“Yes! This song kicks ass! And the video kicks ass, too,” Beavis said. Butt-Head however, was dumbfounded that his buddy likes BTS. “What? What did you just say? I thought I heard you say this kicks ass? Did you say that Beavis?”

Beavis tries to backpedal, but fails miserably and instead starts to show his true colors as a member of the BTS Army, saying, “I was just joking with it. You know what I’m saying? This kicks ass, but it sucks. I was just being iconic… You know who sucks the worst is J-Hope. He doesn’t even have a positive attitude like Suga.”

Butt-Head, disgusted, walks off and Beavis is left by himself to finish watching the “Dynamite” clip on the couch alone. But it doesn’t take long for him to start moving his shoulders to the beat, like the card-carrying member of the BTS Army that he is.

For what it’s worth, in a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter, show creator Mike Judge explained that he in fact enjoys BTS: “BTS is a guilty pleasure — but maybe not even that guilty: I like them. I have pretty mainstream tastes. I think because I used to be a musician, people think I’m going to be a music snob. I’m not at all. I like a lot of very sugary pop music. We did that a little bit with Bon Jovi in the ’90s, Beavis liking them more than he should.”

Keanu Reeves Will Star In Martin Scorsese’s Long-Awaited ‘Devil In The White City’ Adaptation For Hulu

If you’ve been following entertainment news since the beginning of the 21st century, you’re probably familiar with the long-promised adaptation of Erik Larson’s 2003 book The Devil in the White City: Murder, Magic, and Madness at the Fair That Changed America. Now, it’s finally seeing the light of day at Hulu, and it will star Keanu Reeves.

The Devil in the White City has been on quite the development journey. Tom Cruise tried to develop a film adaptation, which fell through in 2004. In 2010, Leonardo DiCaprio purchased the rights to the book, with Martin Scorsese set to direct a feature film. Now, The Devil In the White City has officially been picked up as a limited series over at Hulu, with Keanu Reeves in a leading role, per Variety. Don’t worry: although it’s been over a decade, Scorsese, who never gives up on something he’s passionate about (from book adaptations to criticizing superhero movies) is still involved as an executive producer. DiCaprio is also attached as an executive producer.

The Devil in the White City is a nonfiction novel told in a narrative style. Set in the 1890s, it tells the story of the 1893 World’s Fair in Chicago, IL. The book intertwines the story of Daniel Burnham, the architect behind the World’s Fair with the story of H.H. Holmes, the first modern serial killer, who lured victims into a “Murder Castle.” According to Variety, Reeves is set to play Burnham in the Hulu series. Years ago, DiCaprio was set to play Holmes, so maybe we’ll get that as a treat.

Variety reports that Sam Shaw (Castle Rock) is adapting the book to series, and will be the showrunner, with Todd Field (In the Bedroom) directing. The series is expected to come to Hulu in 2024.
