Jay-Z’s Billionaire Line About Him, Kanye West, Rihanna, And LeBron James On ‘God Did’ Recalls A ‘XXL’ Cover

DJ Khaled‘s new album, God Did, has hip-hop heads talking. One of the highlights of the album is its title track, on which Jay-Z raps for four straight minutes.

On a particular line, Jay recalls acquiring billionaire status, and how some of his collaborators quickly received the coveted title after.

“Nobody touched a billi until Hov did,” Jay raps. “How many billionaires can come from Hov crib? I count three / Me, Ye, and Rih / ‘Bron’s a Roc boy, so four technically.”

Jay was crowned hip-hop’s first billionaire in 2019, largely due to his extensive catalog, as well as his investments into companies like D’usse. Kanye West officially became a billionaire about a year later, largely in part to his Yeezy fashion collection. The following year, Rihanna became a billionaire, thanks to her Fenty Beauty line, as well as her Savage X Fenty lingerie and underwear collection. Lebron James acquired billionaire status this past June, thanks to his nearly two-decade spanning basketball career, as well as partnerships with brands like AT&T and Nike.

It seems that this billionaire status was manifested 17 years ago, when Jay, West, and James covered the August 2005 issue of XXL. Next to them was Foxy Brown, as Rihanna had only just stepped onto the scene with her debut single, “Pon De Replay,” that summer.

Music journalist Elliott Wilson shared an image of the cover on Instagram today.

Shortly after, he shared an image of a fan-made cover with Rihanna’s face photoshopped over Brown’s.

Frotcast 520: ‘House Of The Dragon’ And A Terrible New Startup, With Jessica Sele

Click to download here.

(This is a teaser. For the full episode, become a Patron at Patreon.com/Frotcast).

This week on the Frotcast, comedian Jessica Sele joins Matt and Vince to discuss oh so many things. Things such as House Of The Dragon, the new HBO prequel for Game Of Thrones about House Targaryen. When the show opened with a flying dragon, I went “ugh” inside and then I still watched the entire thing. Does that mean I have to apologize to all the Baby Yoda nerds I made fun of because I’ve proved that I’m just as much of a piggy as they are? Probably. What can I say, I’m a sucker for medieval succession drama and jousts.

We also discuss the rottweiler that may or may not have caused Sylvester Stallone’s divorce, as well as the bull mastiff that Sylvester Stallone got tattooed on his arm over his wife’s face, and his publicist’s hilarious explanation of it at the time, which was that he tried to get the wife tattoo touched up but it didn’t look good so he covered it with a dog. Who hasn’t been there?! Finally, we talk about a new startup that promises to make any user sound white and American over the phone, regardless of their actual voice. Technology, is there anything it can’t do?!

Dixson Announces His New Project ‘004DAISY,’ And Premieres His New Video For ‘Cherry Sorbet’

It’s been a monumental year for Dixson. From earning a Best Original Song Oscar nomination for Beyoncé’s “Be Alive,” which he co-wrote with the singer, to co-writing “Virgo’s Groove” and “Pure/Honey” from her Renaissance album, Dixson has been just about everywhere. After years of working behind the scenes as a songwriter and producer for artists like Justin Bieber, Chance The Rapper, and of course, Beyoncé, Dixson is gearing up for the release of his new solo project, O04DAISY.

Ahead of the project, Dixson has shared the video for “Cherry Sorbet,” his Sevyn Streeter-assisted single which he released back in May. In the accompanying video, Dixson and Streeter are seen dancing and enjoying each other’s company alone in a laboratory as they each deliver soft, silky vocals with cleverly crafted lyrics alluding to desserts and sex.

With 004DAISY, Dixson will be at the forefront of his music and instrumentation, defying the bounds of the boxes in which people try to place R&B artists.

“I’m not trying to be R&B’s personal Jesus,” said Dixson in a statement. “I’m not as worried about R&B as the rappers and white boys are. 004DAISY is the beta, my own version of freedom. If you let them, they will box you in. This is me boxing back. Round 1. Punching mediocre square in the jaw. My drive is expanding. From God’s ears to yours. Enjoy.”

Check out “Cherry Sorbet” above and check out the 004DAISY album art and tracklist below. And stay tuned for Dixson’s upcoming performance for Uproxx’s Sessions.

Jamie Foxx’s spot-on Donald Trump impression reminds us how wicked talented the guy is

Jamie Foxx may have made a name for himself as a comedian first, but time and time again he shows us that his talents truly know no bounds.

Before he started doing open mic night at comedy clubs, Foxx was an aspiring musician. He was classically trained as a pianist, and attended the prestigious Juilliard music school. He has a gorgeous singing voice and his musical impressions are impressive.

Despite being known first for his humor, Foxx also has serious acting chops, winning an Academy Award for Best Actor in 2005 for his performance as Ray Charles in “Ray.”

He can dance, too. Oh, and according to the Bleacher Report, he was also a football star in high school with ambitions to play professionally so … yeah. The guy can do anything.

A video of Foxx doing an impression of Donald Trump is making the rounds because—perhaps unsurprisingly—it’s incredible.

(Language warning: There are some f-bombs toward the end of the clip.)

Check it out:

If this is the first time you’ve seen Jamie Foxx do an impression, you’re in for a treat. Jimmy Fallon has showcased Foxx’s uncanny abilities in his “Wheel of Musical Impressions” segment. Watch Foxx impersonate John Legend, Doc Rivers and Jennifer Hudson.

Yes, Jennifer Hudson.

And if being able to play sports, sing, act, dance, play piano and do impressions isn’t enough, the guy is also a genuine, bona fide hero. In 2016, a man crashed his car near Foxx’s home, and Foxx helped pry the man from his burning car with his own two hands.

People are pointing out that Foxx doesn’t get enough credit for how much he can do.

“Jamie Foxx doesn’t get enough credit for casually being the most naturally talented person on earth,” wrote one person on Twitter.

“Of course Jamie Foxx has the best Trump impression I’ve ever seen. The man is too talented for one person,” wrote another.

He truly is one of the great renaissance men of our time. And the fact that he slept on this Trump impression for the entirety of his campaign and presidency is just next-level legendary. Now the only question is, what he will surprise us with next.

Viral ‘corn kid’ inspires a song on TikTok, and it’s an absolute delight

If you were anywhere near the internet this month, you have probably felt the contagious joy spread by “corn kid,” an adorable young boy whose unbridled love of the delicious, buttery starch veg went viral online.

The wholesome moment originally came from the popular kid interview series “Recess Therapy,” with host Julian Shapiro-Barnum, but quickly sprouted up on other outlets like the TikTok channel @doingthings, where it amassed more than 16 million views.

If you somehow missed it, here’s a taste below. Please take note: We don’t pronounce it as “corn” anymore. It’s cowhn. Now and forevermore.

@doingthings Do you think corn is real? 🌽 @Recess Therapy ♬ original sound – Doing Things

Delightful, right? Well, it seems the gift of corn keeps on giving, because the popular clip became the inspiration for a TikTok song, and it just might be the greatest thing ever. Second only to corn, of course.

Using a layer of digital guitar sounds, the entire interview is replayed and remixed, with the young boy’s most beloved sayings like “IT’S CORN!” and “it’s got the juice” being the catchy hooks.

The result? Yeah, it’s bona fide bop. Listen below:

@schmoyoho intro song for any meal/snack with corn 🌽 – from iconic interview on @doingthings ♬ Corn but it becomes a song and unites world – schmoyoho

The video promised to reimagine corn as “a song that unites the world” and I’m pretty sure it succeeded. People seem to agree.

“Not me buying corn at the store tonight solely because this song has been running through my head all day,” one person commented.

“If this isn’t the most viral sound in TikTok history within the month then I am going to be disappointed. Purely wholesome, it’s fantastic… it’s… 🌽” wrote another.

These comments are great, but hands down this is the best one:

“Is…is the world finally healing..?”

Maybe, it is. Maybe it is.

By the way—would you say the song has a sort of familiar sound? There’s a reason for that.

Remember the days of Auto-Tune the News? With such classics like “Backin’ Up, Backin’ Up” and the “Bed Intruder” song? Yeah, these are the same guys behind that meme craze from days of yore. The Gregory Brothers have never stopped creating comedy musical masterpieces. You’ll see that their YouTube Channel (schmoyoho) is filled with iconic “songified” moments.

The last viral hit from schmoyoho featured a mega-popular scene from “Stranger Things” Season Four.

Actually, they made two different versions, because they are awesome.

Though The Gregory Brothers made their claim to fame on YouTube, it seems that they are making a comeback through TikTok. Just like corn, true quality things never go out of style.

Here’s to the publicly proclaimed “CEO of Corn” for unapologetic love, to The Gregory Brothers for boundless creativity and to the internet for bringing them both together.

It is indeed a corntastic day.

Introducing Pod Yourself The Wire, From The Makers Of Pod Yourself A Gun

Pod Yourself The Wire

From the makers of Pod Yourself A Gun, the only The Sopranos podcast, now comes Pod Yourself The Wire, a new podcast about HBO’s Baltimore crime drama The Wire. Hosts Matt Lieb and Vince Mancini welcome the pod’s first guest, comedian, producer of the pod, handsome stud, and writer of these episode descriptions, Brent Flyberg, to talk about the premiere episode of The Wire, “The Target.”

To listen to the first episode now, subscribe on Patreon. Otherwise it will be available for free September 1st.

Welcome to Baltimore, bitch. Or as the locals call it, Balmur. In this first episode, we meet so many characters (Poot, Bubs, Herc, Bunk, etc, Snot Boogie, etc.), see many different municipal buildings, and are introduced to a lot of Balmer cop lingo. If this is your first time, don’t worry about learning everything just yet. “Drinking out of the fire hose” was a phrase they threw around at my last job when describing their new hire training process. They threw a bunch of names, stats, email addresses, divisions, and processes at every new person and were like, retain what you can – some of this will make sense later. That’s you watching this episode. Relax and open up for The Wire hose.

Matt, Vince, and I are here to help you answer questions like: Who are any of these people? What are they doing? Why do they say their Os weird? What is a grape Nehi? And most importantly, which actor has the truest-to-life outdated civil servant hairdo?

Hotels We Love: CIVANA Wellness Resort and Spa in Carefree, Arizona Is A Self-Care Haven

If your social media feeds are anything like mine, they’ve become inundated with aesthetically lovely videos and photos referencing some vague concept of “wellness.” You know the ones. The muted tones and soft light trickling in through the blinds. I’m not always quite sure what it is that I am looking at exactly, but I do know one thing – I want it. I want to be well, too.

So when I heard about CIVANA Wellness Resort and Spa, I was intrigued. I didn’t want to go to a bare-bones silent retreat or be relegated to raw meals or mandatory sunrise hot yoga classes. I just wanted to feel good. A better version of myself. A relaxed, happy, and well-fed version.

I wanted to read books and move my body… but with an option to hit up a hotel bar in the in-betweens. CIVANA offered exactly that.

A stylish retreat in aptly named Carefree Arizona, the resort is just a short Uber ride north of Phoenix. Once I arrived, I quickly discovered the property wasn’t strict about how guests interpret the term “wellness.” There were no hard and fast rules (except maybe the strong suggestion to stay hydrated — it is the desert). Instead, it proved the perfect property for curating my own ideas about what health and relaxation mean to me.

Why It’s Awesome:

Emily Hart

CIVANA has it all – but you don’t have to do it all if you don’t want to. They really embrace the idea of finding your own journey to happiness and wellness through the things that you choose for yourself. I loved that there were options scheduled all day long for as many traditional health and wellness activities as I wanted or I could just hang out on my patio in a robe and drink champagne (hey, I like what I like).

Guests at CIVANA can lean as far in or out as they choose – and to me, that was very freeing. CIVANA is a refuge for those who just want to get away, but want to do it in their own way. While I was on property I swam in the pools, got a massage, took a guided hike, went to two blissful sound baths, a gentle flow yoga class, and also took a nap and watched Castaway on a random cable channel on a night I just felt like vegging.

As I was sitting at the restaurant bar the evening before I checked out, sipping on a prickly pear sangria, I had a realization: I did, in fact, feel well. Whatever I had done in the last three days had somehow calmed me. And that’s really the whole point.

In-House Food and Drink:

There are a few options for food at CIVANA. Seed, the coffee shop and market is open from 6 am –3 pm and Terras, the on-site restaurant, is open for all meals of the day. I had breakfasts and dinners at Terras and enjoyed all the fresh and nourishing options I chose. My personal favorites were the Harvest Breakfast Bowl and Hemp Crusted Tuna at dinner.

The Greenvana smoothie is also a treat at the pool bar, while the cocktails are innovative and fresh – the CBD Spritz was my favorite.

Amenities:

There are countless things to keep busy with – or not – at CIVANA. There is a pool in the heart of the resort that is great for relaxing with a book or a nap, as well as a saltwater pool at the spa. With a spa treatment, you can access the pool, relaxation room, steam room, and the innovative aqua therapy circuit – moving from pools of varying temperatures to a sanarium and cold deluge shower to promote circulation and relaxation.

If you want to be a little (or a lot) more active, there are classes going on throughout the day – many included with your room rate. From higher intensity group gym classes to gentle yoga, to sound baths and guided hikes outside of the property (for a small fee) you can truly choose your own adventure. I learned so much from the interpretive guides on our early morning hike in Cave Creek Regional Park and it was a nice change of pace from my normal solo hikes.

A resort representative will reach out before your stay to coordinate an itinerary of activities, also giving you access to an online reservation system. You can also sign up upon arrival.

Room Types:

I stayed in a spa king room with a private patio, mountain views, and a soaking tub within a beautiful large shower. There are also king rooms, queen rooms, and one-bedroom suites available – all with a similarly minimal and modern style, with private patios or balconies on each.

The minimal decor promotes a quiet relaxation and feels very zen.

Best Things to do/eat/drink within a 15 Minute Walk:

Emily Hart

Hop on one of the resort’s bikes and ride the short distance to downtown Carefree. Home to one of the largest sundials in the world, the small town is whimsical and charming. Sitting at a higher elevation than Phoenix or Scottsdale, it is about 5-7 degrees cooler in Carefree, and the small-town vibes make for a fun ride.

Be sure to stop at Brix Wine Bar for a relaxing sip before heading back to the resort.

Best Things to do/eat/drink within a $20 Cab Ride:

Talisen West
Emily Hart

While it may cost slightly over $20 (depending on surge timing), Phoenix or Scottsdale are both just around 30 minutes drive from CIVANA. I love to explore Old Town Scottsdale when I’m in the area, visiting local winery tasting rooms and eclectic shops.

Another fun detour is a visit to Talisen West – architect Frank Lloyd Wright’s former winter home and studio. Still home of the Frank Lloyd Wright Foundation, the UNESCO World Heritage Site is open for tours 5 days a week – and it is an unforgettable and quintessentially Scottsdale experience.

Bed Game: 8 /10

civana room
Emily Hart

The rooms are very minimal by design, with the beds facing the large windows and patio –0 a particularly nice touch in my book. The bed was just soft enough for a good night’s sleep or a cat nap during the day, with linens that were hard to pull myself away from.

Sexiness Rating: 6 /10

civana reflection
Emily Hart

This was a tough category for me, as CIVANA caters to a lot of different audiences. I was pleasantly surprised that it wasn’t just women on solo and girlfriends retreats, but plenty of couples on romantic getaways as well. The grounds and rooms are the perfect backdrop for a sexy long weekend, but just like CIVANA itself, you can choose to make it what you want.

Instagrammability: 10/10

civana sunset
Emily Hart

Remember those aesthetic social media wellness posts I mentioned earlier?

Well, this place was made for them. In fact, when I searched the hashtag “wellness resort” almost all of the top results actually were from CIVANA. And you can see why. The grounds are immaculate, with the ample number of towering saguaro cactus – only found here in the Sonoran desert – and beautiful geometric mid-century architecture, there is a photo op around every corner.

Best Season to Visit:

pool civana
Emily Hart

I imagined the best season would be during the colder months as a warmer desert getaway, but I was surprisingly happy with my choice to visit in July. The rates are lower during that time, and it was definitely hotter, but it didn’t ever feel unbearable. With easy access to pools and indoor classes, it’s truly a year-long destination.

Still, it’s always great to escape winter with some desert time.

If I Had to Complain About One Thing:

Maybe it was the time of year that I visited, but there didn’t seem to be a ton of food or drink options that were open or walkable from the resort. For a couple of days this is fine – just stay on the property – but any longer and you might want more variety in your food and drink.

Book Here:

CIVANA is running several special offers right now, for deals on midweek stays, special rates for Arizona residents, and all-inclusive packages with a spa credit and unlimited food and drink. Find more info and book your stay here.

DDG Gets Steamy With His Girlfriend Halle Bailey In The Sensual ‘If I Want You’ Video

DDG and Halle Bailey recently went public with their romantic relationship and the “If I Want You” video ups the ante. The Pontiac artist enjoys a night swim and evening car ride in the trap’n’b record, but the hottest moments come when he and the pop star are intertwined in the bedroom.

The dark tone of the visual and celestial female background vocals create a sensual aura for Bailey and DDG to caress one another. “I’m touching you in person, I don’t need you on my feed,” DDG exclaims, reveling in the fact he can enjoy Bailey in real life as opposed to admiring from her afar.

For DDG, “If I Want You” comes in what has been an active 2022 for the 24-year-old rapper. He released “Stay In My Circle,” “Storyteller,” and “Elon Musk” featuring Gunna in addition to appearing on “Meat This” with Blueface. In terms of projects, DDG collaborated with OG Parker on the June 2021 project Die 4 Respect which included appearances from 42 Dugg, Coi Leray, PnB Rock, Lil Yachty, and Tyla Yaweh.

With Halle Bailey as his muse and a strong work ethic, the best may be yet to come for DDG.

The Five Biggest Games On The Dallas Mavericks 2022-23 Schedule

The 2022-23 schedule for all 30 NBA teams has finally been released, and it allows fans the opportunity to start marking their calendars and planning around the can’t miss games on the schedule. While not every team shares the same goals for the 2022-23 season, they all have games where fans will be circling dates and trying to make sure they’re in the building for or at least able to watch on TV, and here we are going to highlight five such games for each team.

Here, we will dive into the Dallas Mavericks, fresh off of a run to the Western Conference Finals. Dallas won 52 games a year ago and, while the Mavericks did suffer a significant personnel loss with Jalen Brunson signing in New York, there is a lot to be excited about in Dallas. Luka Doncic is projected as a leading MVP candidate, and the Mavericks add an intriguing talent in Christian Wood. Dallas also brought in additional center depth with JaVale McGee, and the Mavericks have a full season of Spencer Dinwiddie after the successful trade with Washington last season.

The Mavericks will need to patch together the production loss of Brunson, but having Doncic and a talented roster is a good start, and Dallas will have the chance to prove itself in each game listed below.

October 19, 2022: at Phoenix Suns (ESPN, 10:00 P.M. ET)

Opening night will be a return to the scene of the crime. The Mavericks left the Suns in complete shock after their stunning Game 7 blowout win in Phoenix last season. Phoenix entered that series having won 11 straight games against the Mavericks and went up 2-0 in the series, only to lose four of the next five games, including two blowouts in Games 6 and 7. It still does not feel quite real. While there’s been much made about a rivalry between Luka and Trae Young, it feels like a far more organic rivalry exists between Devin Booker and Luka. Booker mocked Doncic during the playoff series, calling his flopping the Luka special. The trash talk only fueled Luka after he was caught on camera after Game 5 saying “everybody acts tough when they’re up.” Any time these two play basketball against one another, it’s sure to be must-see TV.

December 9, 2022: vs. Milwaukee Bucks (ESPN, 10:00 P.M. ET)

Luka Doncic going up against Giannis Antetokounmpo? Yes, please. The two heavyweights will clash twice early in the season, which will serve as barometer for where this reconstructed Mavs roster stands amongst the league’s contenders. The Mavs’ 5-out offense has fared well against the Bucks during the Doncic era due to the Bucks’ conservative drop scheme. This matchup has produced some of Luka’s best games as a playmaker, including a 19-assist outing in the Bubble and a 15-assist game in a win against Milwaukee last season.

December 25, 2022: vs. Los Angeles Lakers (ABC, 2:30 P.M. ET)

For the first time since 2011, the Mavericks are playing a Christmas game at home. This Christmas Day slot has been given to the Luka-LeBron matchup, and it will absolutely be worth ignoring your family after presents are opened to watch this one. Both the Mavericks and Lakers enter the seasons with questions on how their rosters will coalesce, and this will be an interesting test for both teams to determine how close they are to contention.

December 27, 2022: vs. New York Knicks (8:00 P.M. ET)

Shortly after Christmas, Jalen Brunson will make his return to Dallas after leaving in free agency to join the Knicks. Brunson’s departure still stinks considering his vital role as the second leading scorer on a team that made the Western Conference Finals. By all accounts, Brunson had great relationships with his teammates and the coaching staff, but it will be interesting to see how Mavs fans greet Brunson on his return to the American Airlines Center.

January 24, 2022: vs. Washington Wizards (8:30 P.M. ET)

Barring injury, this will be Kristaps Porzingis’ first appearance at the American Airlines Center since he was traded to the Wizards at the deadline last season. His return to Dallas shouldn’t bring the same animosity as his return to Madison Square Garden. While the trade was unexpected, the Porzingis deal brought role clarity and playmaking to the Maverick roster that propelled them to the Western Conference Finals, but that won’t make the first time Porzingis gets switched onto Doncic any less enticing.

An Investigation Into The Video Of James Harden Throwing A Cake Off A Yacht

It’s a Friday afternoon in August, which means the closest thing to NBA news right now is a video of James Harden celebrating his birthday on a yacht and launching a birthday cake into the ocean for reasons that are not known.

You have probably seen this video somewhere on social media, but we here at Dime want to take a closer look because there are a number of questions we have about the cake incident and why it happened.

First off, the cake is quite obviously fake. It does not change structure when it is tipped over at a 90-degree angle before being launched off of the yacht. Harden also does not have any icing on his right hand after grabbing the base layer, and despite being a four-layer cake, it goes flying into the ocean after an incredibly gentle flick by Mr. Harden.

So that begs the question, why would there be a fake cake at James Harden’s yacht celebration? Why would he not have an actual cake? If he didn’t want an actual cake, why bother bringing a fake cake at all? Beyond that, why throw the fake cake into the ocean? We’re littering now, James? C’mon man, that’s not cool. I think the answer to all of these questions is “why not?” which I guess is a good enough reason as James seemed to enjoy launching the cardboard cake into the water to the confusion of the DJ and everyone else.
