Azealia Banks Says Her Own Reality TV Show Is Happening

Azealia Banks is always up to something. Sometimes she’s causing trouble, like provoking Beyonce fans or roasting Iggy Azalea. Today, though, the rapper took to her Instagram Story, where she often posts, to announce that she has a reality TV show in the making.

“Ok so the Azealia Banks reality tv show is happening,” she wrote. In typical Banks fashion, she then added some humor, writing, “I’m excited. FINALLY people get to see the real me: an asshole.” She may not be the most reliable source, but she sure does seems excited.

In February, Banks took a moment on social media to share a lengthy message criticizing Kanye West and his treatment of Kim Kardashian. “Y’all are making way too many excuses for Kanye,” she said to begin her message which she posted on her Instagram Story. “This is the second time he has publicly bullied North West. First with the abortion sh*t, and now putting her on blast on his Instagram page as if she’s some sort of criminal.” She continued, “Kanye had no problem with that magazine cover where North had on a f*cking belly top and purple eyeliner with her little buds showing thru the shirt, he thought it was fashion. You all said nothing.”

‘Halloween Ends’ May Be Debuting On Peacock The Same Day As Theaters, But Star Jamie Lee Curtis Thinks You Should Watch It Both Ways

Last year, Universal made a totally understandable decision: They would release Halloween Kills, the sequel to 2018’s Halloween (aka the second direct sequel to 1978’s Halloween), both in theaters and on their streamer, Peacock. First boosters had only recently started unrolling; the pandemic was still going strong. It still is, to be honest, but people over the last year have become a lot more comfortable seeing movies in theaters. And yet Universal is still doing the same thing with the franchise’s latest finale.

As per The Hollywood Reporter, Halloween Ends — which features star Jamie Lee Curtis’ second (and presumably final) farewell to the character she’s played since the Carter administration — will do the same thing as its predecessor. When the threequel/fourquel opens on Oct. 14, over two weeks shy of the titular holiday, it will play in theaters and on Peacock. But Curtis had a recommendation on how to watch it.

In a video posted on Instagram, the almost erstwhile Laurie Strode talked up her final stint as the character, calling it a “fitting conclusion.” But she also addressed the elephant in the room: the idea that people can watch it at home (as part of a streamer subscription) or in theaters (for a fee). She suggested: Why not both? “You could do what I would do, which is go to the theater, then watch it at home, then go back to the theater, then rewatch it at home again,” she said. That’s like four times!

So it’s up to you: Is it more fun to “scream your guts out,” as Curtis put it, in a theater with a bunch of similarly faux-petrified strangers? Or do it in the comfort of your own home, maybe by yourself? Whatever the case, Halloween Ends opens on Oct. 14.

The Sky Used A Late Barrage To Eliminate The Liberty From The 2022 Playoffs

After an upset defeat in Game 1 of a first round series, the reigning WNBA champion Chicago Sky found themselves facing elimination sooner than most anticipated. On cue, the Sky throttled the New York Liberty by a 38-point margin in Game 2, setting a WNBA playoff record for margin of victory in the process, but Chicago still faced an elimination scenario with Game 3 on the road on Tuesday.

Though much of the game was competitive, the Sky used a haymaker of a fourth quarter run to put the exclamation point on a 90-72 win and a series victory. From the opening tip-off, the energy level was sky-high for the first-ever WNBA Playoff game at Barclays Center, and the Liberty bounced back effectively from Game 2.

New York’s Marine Johannes keyed an intriguing start for the home team, firing a fantastic pass and burying back-to-back three-pointers in the first five minutes.

Johannes made her first three triples in the first quarter, scoring nine points, and that work kept the Liberty in touch. On the other side, the Sky generated eight assists and converted eight of her 11 attempts from inside the arc, operating with real balance and taking a five-point lead at the end of the opening period.

On defense, the Sky were creating havoc, including five turnovers in the first quarter, and that continued into the second period. Chicago eventually built a 12-point halftime lead, including a pivotal three-point connection from Courtney Vandersloot.

In the first half, Chicago shot 54 percent from the floor with 17 assists, headlined by 12 points from Vandersloot. Six players on the Sky scored at least seven points, and Chicago’s defensive havoc led directly to 13 points off New York’s turnovers. That led to a comfortable, double-digit lead for the Sky at the break, but nothing was assured in an elimination game on the road.

The Sky extended their lead to 14 points in the early moments of the third quarter, but the Liberty picked up their defensive intensity. New York slashed the margin back to single digits as a result, with Sabrina Ionescu knocking down a pull-up jumper to force a Chicago timeout.

Chicago scored only three points in more than six minutes, floundering after a hyper-efficient first half showing. New York failed to take full advantage of the defensive progress, however, and Chicago was able to extend the lead back to 13 points after an extremely lucky bounce led to a basket with 2:17 to go in the third.

The Liberty did not fold from there, responding with a Natasha Howard put-back at the buzzer. That gave Chicago only a ten-point lead as the closing period arrived, and the door was open for New York’s potential comeback at home. Then, within the first 30 seconds of the fourth quarter, Ionescu produced a five-point possession on her own with the help of a missed free throw and a difficult three-pointer.

With that explosion from Ionescu as the centerpiece, New York scored nine straight points and climbed within a 68-65 deficit with more than eight minutes remaining. That uptick was short-lived for the Liberty, as Chicago had an on-time response. The Sky scored the next 16 consecutive points, taking a commanding 19-point lead seemingly in the blink of an eye.

The damage was done at that point, with the Sky cruising to the 18-point victory. Chicago received balance contributions, including six players scoring in double figures, and the duo of Vandersloot and Candace Parker led the way. Vandersloot finished with 14 points, 10 assists and five rebounds on the night, with Parker adding 14 points, 13 rebounds, and eight assists in the frontcourt. The Sky also held the Liberty to only 30 points in the second half, and a valiant effort from New York simply wasn’t enough.

The Sky will advance to face the winner of Wednesday’s Game 3 matchup between the Connecticut Sun and the Dallas Wings in the semifinal. That series will begin on Sunday as the nightcap of a doubleheader after Game 1 between the Seattle Storm and the Las Vegas Aces.

Arctic Monkeys Debut A Laid-Back New Song Called ‘I Ain’t Quite Where I Think I Am’ In Zurich

Indie icons Arctic Monkeys have been on an electrifying tour while every now and then teasing new music. The excitement is accumulating with every performance — but especially tonight when they debuted a new song titled “I Ain’t Quite Where I Think I Am” at a Zurich show.

The track is laidback and playful, driven by Alex Turner’s stunning vocals and wonky guitar riffs. It’s tame, closer to their latest album Tranquility Base Hotel & Casino, than any of their faster old stuff.

They were asked late last year if the next album was finished. “Yeah, pretty much, yeah,” drummer Matt Helders replied. “It was a bit disjointed how we had to do it, and there are bits to finish off, but yeah, it’s all in the works.” He added that he’s confident the album will arrive at some point in 2022. “I think by the time we get everything together it’ll be next year,” he said. “Hopefully we can get out and tour next summer.” Helders then spoke about the sound future listeners can expect to hear on their seventh album, adding, “We tend to always move it on a little bit. For us, because we’re so involved in it, it always makes sense.”

Why Did Scrappy From ‘Power: Raising Kanan’ Get Killed?

SPOILERS for this week’s Power Book III: Raising Kanan will be found below.)

The second season of Power Book III: Raising Kanan kicked off with the return of all main and recurring characters from season one. The closest encounter with death last season came when Kanan was held at gunpoint during an armed robbery and when Lou-Lou was ambushed at his home. Just two weeks into season two, we’ve already had to say goodbye to a frequent face in Power Book III: Raising Kanan, that being Scrappy, after he was shot and killed by Raq at the end of episode two, titled Mind Your Business.

Why Did Scrappy From Power Book III: Raising Kanan Get Killed?

In the first episode of this season’s Power Book III: Raising Kanan, Raq warns Scrapy to stay low and out of trouble, which means that he’ll have to ignore his gambling itch for some time. Scrappy fails to heed Rap’s warning and he’s soon arrested in the middle of a poker game by the FBI. In Mind Your Business, Detective Howard sees Scrappy in police custody at the precinct and incorrectly assumes that he’s snitching on Raq and the crew. Howard informs Raq about Scrappy’s appearance at the precinct, which also leads to Raq’s assumption that Scrappy is ratting her out to the police.

After some back and forth with Lou-Lou and Marvin, who also did some investigating himself, the trio determined that it was necessary to kill Scrappy. They tricked Scrappy into believing that he was on his way to a new setup for the drug operation, one that he would completely run. Raq was already at the location, unbeknownst to him, with a gun in hand ready to kill Scrappy, which she did to close Mind Your Business.

New episodes of STARZ’s ‘Power Book III: Raising Kanan’ are available to watch on Sundays at 12:00am EST.

John Fetterman Took A Break From Trolling Dr. Oz To Take Him To Task For His Campaign’s Ghoulish Attack On His Stroke

For months, Pennsylvania’s sitting lieutenant governor John Fetterman has been relentlessly, mercilessly trolling Dr. Mehmet Oz, his opponent for the state’s vacating Senate seat. Oz has struggled to return fire, all while flailing in the polls. But on Tuesday, the former TV star’s campaign tried to step up their attacks, and only succeeding in seeming like heartless ghouls. What they said was so revolting that Fetterman took a break from dragging him to sincerely take him to task.

It all began with a much-mocked video Oz recorded in April in which he did some supermarket-shopping for a vegetable tray, which he called “crudité.” The video came back in the news recently, prompting a whole new, even bigger round of derision. In response, Oz’s senior communications advisor told Insider, “If John Fetterman had ever eaten a vegetable in his life, then maybe he wouldn’t have had a major stroke and wouldn’t be in the position of having to lie about it constantly.”

But if Oz couldn’t keep it classy, Fetterman could.

“I had a stroke. I survived it. I’m truly so grateful to still be here today,” Fetterman tweeted hours after the quote went public. “I know politics can be nasty, but even then, I could *never* imagine ridiculing someone for their health challenges.”

It’s not the first time Oz has dared to attack Fetterman over his health issues. Fetterman had to put on in-person campaigning on hold in order to recover from his stroke, which he suffered in May. That didn’t stop Oz, who’s a doctor, from making fun of him for not being on the road, even enlisting a Lost meme that earned him scorn from the show’s co-creator.

Oz has Trump’s seal of approval, and he may be trying to emulate his nasty, there-is-no-bottom style of campaigning. Then again, Trump already seems to have buyer’s remorse.

Will Sheff Unveils The Vulnerable Ballad ‘Nothing Special’

A few weeks ago, Will Sheff, also known as the leader of Okkervil River, announced his new LP Nothing Special and unveiled “Estrangement Zone.” Today, he’s back with the release of the title track. It’s a twinkly, vulnerable ballad with a powerful accompanying music video.

Upon the announcement of the album, he said, “When I was just a kid, I got caught up in the dream of being a rock and roll star. Like so many other young people, I fell in love with the idea of being called to this glorious path outside of ordinary life. And I ended up in a band with people who felt this same call — especially our brilliant drummer Travis Nelsen, who was like a brother to me. We would trade tales of hilarious antics and outrageous excess and tragic death like they were almost scripture. Travis and I fell out painfully, and he died in the early weeks of lockdown. I think a big part of Nothing Special centers around grieving for him, grieving for everything my friends have lost, grieving for the rock and rock and roll myth, and trying to open my eyes to a more transcendent reality.”

A Witness In The R. Kelly Trial Says He Was Offered $1 Million To Recover A Child Sex Tape

Recently, it was reported that R. Kelly wanted to ban jurors if they had watched any portion of the 2019 doc series Surviving R. Kelly, which was denied. Now, the Chicago Tribune has reported today that the prosecution’s top witness was Charles Freeman, who became friends with Kelly after doing merchandise for him in the 90s. Around 2001, Kelly asked him to “recover some tapes.”

Freeman was allegedly told he would get a “reward” for the video, the contents of which he claimed to not know at the time. Derrel McDavid, one of Kelly’s co-defendants, had described it to him as a “performance tape,” and if Freeman got it back, “they would take care of me.” In August of that year, Freeman signed a contract saying if he recovered the tape he would get $100,000 plus expenses, and McDavid allegedly told him he could earn $1 million for the job. But he said that McDavid emphasized that they “need the originals and make sure this is the actual evidence tape… It would look bad if we gave you a million dollars for a tape and it’s not the tape that we want.”

Freeman said that one of the tapes showed Kelly “with a young lady having sex.” He said he still had copies of the tape as recently as 2019 and turned them over to the authorities upon learning that cops were looking into him. When asked why he didn’t turn them over immediately, Freeman answered, “Because the police wasn’t going to pay me a million dollars.” Read more about the situation here.

Rick Scott Was Dragged For Complaining About Joe Biden Being On Vacation While Tweeting From A Luxury Yacht In Italy

Republicans are no strangers to rank hypocrisy, but it’s not often that they lambast Democrats while doing the same thing. Such was the case Tuesday when Rick Scott — the former governor of Florida, who once mixed up the National Anthem and the Pledge of Allegiance — decided to drag President Joe Biden for vacationing in Delaware…while vacationing from a yacht in Italy.

The sitting senator slammed the president for doing a kind of working vacation a whopping 2 ½ hour drive from the White House. (He’s scheduled to announce his decision on student debt cancellation on Wednesday, for one.)

“Another week of President Biden vacationing in Delaware vs. working at the White House,” Scott tweeted. “If he loves to travel so much, I’ve got some suggestions as to where he should go next.” He then offered a poll with three choices. Hold on to your sides, they might just split: They were all “The Southern Border.”

There’s one little issue. Scott is chair of the National Republican Senatorial Committee. And his party isn’t doing so hot, with one under-performing congressional candidate after another getting into constant, creative hot water. Where was Scott while Dr. Mehmet Oz’s staff was saying grossly insensitive things about opponent John Fetterman’s health issues? As per Axios, he’s chilling on a luxury yacht in Italy.

Perhaps Scott forgot where he was. Whatever the case, people were happy to remind him about throwing stones at glass houses — especially when one’s glass house is quite a bit larger and swankier.

It’s not the first time Scott has been credibly accused of hypocrisy. Last year, he dragged Biden’s then-named “Build Back Better” plan, only to get called out for supporting Donald Trump’s super-pricey tax cuts, which only helped the wealthy anyway.

Kid who went viral after dropping a hot dog gets the education of a lifetime

Four-year-old Matthew Hoobler went to his first major league baseball game on August 14 and sat in the first row with his father and 2-year-old brother at Chicago’s Guaranteed Rate Field. The Block Club Chicago reports the family was there to see the visiting Detroit Tigers, the dad’s favorite team, play the hometown Chicago White Sox.

During the TV broadcast, the announcers caught the boy eating a large hot dog when, oops, it slipped out of the bun and fell to the ground. The boy reacted to the mishap by giving himself the ultimate facepalm.

“Oh, the horrors!” and “Oh, the humanity,” the announcers exclaimed when the frankfurter hit the floor. Video of the dropped dog went viral, with more than 2.3 million people seeing it after it was shared by the White Sox.

Reporters at Block Club Chicago tracked down the family and learned they lived in the suburb of La Grange, Illinois. After their identities were discovered, The Wiener’s Circle, a legendary hot dog stand on Chicago’s north side, invited the boy for all-you-can-eat dogs and lessons on how to safely hold one in a bun taught by Chi-town’s dog-eating experts.

The Wiener’s Circle is known for being a raucous place for people to chow down after a night out in Chicago. The staff is famous for hurling insults at customers or “curbside abuse,” as they call it. It’s also notorious for the $20 “chocolate shake” that offers a lot more than dessert.

Little Matthew learned the art of eating a hot dog from the best in the business. He even managed to learn how to hold a dog upside down.

He also showed off his famous facepalm.

Matthew’s dad, Rob, told Block Club Chicago that although his son gave a dramatic facepalm after losing his dog, he didn’t mind it all that much.

“He’s a bun fan. He likes the bun more than anything. So we got him a dog, and the rest is history,” Rob said. “When he started chomping at the bun, there wasn’t enough to hold the dog in place.”

Rob never even considered picking the dog up off the ground, even though the White Sox charge $5 for one.

“A lot of people in the comments mentioned the five-second rule,” Rob said. “Maybe at home, but not at a major league stadium.”

The Hoobler drop wasn’t the only major league hot dog debacle highlighted by The Wiener’s Circle this week. A viral video with nearly 10 million views shows a man taking a hot dog, turning it into a straw and drinking his beer with it at a New York Yankees game.

The controversial move has been applauded by some and angered others. “Arrest this man,” Nicolas Heller, posting as newyorknico, wrote on the original clip, which was later shared by Jomboy Media.

The Wiener’s Circle applauded the move, noting that a hot dog is the “most environmentally friendly, edible straw known to man.” It also tastes a lot better drenched in mustard.
