Blondshell is a quickly rising act who has been demanding attention with sprawling songs like this new one, “Sepsis.” “I’m going back to him / I know my therapist’s pissed,” she sings, opening the track with her signature acerbic charm, “We both know he’s a dick / At least it’s the obvious kind.”
Against warped, reverb-drenched guitars, Sabrina Teitelbaum’s deadpan vocals are spellbinding as she grapples with self-destructive tendencies and disillusionment. It proves that she can keep up the momentum after the great tracks “Kiss City” and “Olympus.” The build-up is cathartic and explosive, similar to Porridge Radio’s, who she’ll be touring with this fall.
“In the thick of COVID, I became obsessed with Hole’s song ‘Doll Parts’ and it inspired me to write something cathartic and pissed,” Teitelbaum said of the track. “I wrote ‘Sepsis’ as a way of getting anger out — anger towards people who have treated me as if I didn’t deserve very much care and anger towards myself for accepting that treatment. I wanted to create some accountability with this song and also sing about the counterproductive nature of trying to outrun loneliness. Most importantly I wanted to give myself permission to be as dramatic as possible and say aloud that I’m afraid bad feelings might actually kill me.”
Welcome to Hit Or Miss, a review series where we take the newest fast food products on the scene, eat them, and tell you whether they’re worth your time and money. We’ve all been tempted — and burned — by new food products. Do you risk it all on the new thing, or stand by your tried and true choice? Let us help you mitigate the risk of a bad order.
This week, Wendy’s added a brand new item to their ever-growing breakfast menu. Unlike most of the chain’s breakfast foods — which consist mostly of croissant and biscuit sandwiches — this time the chain is actually tackling a tried and true breakfast staple: French toast.
Wendy’s Homestyle French Toast Sticks are available now at Wendy’s nationwide during breakfast hours and will be offered as both a four-piece and six-piece a la carte, as well as a six-piece combo, served with potato wedges and a drink. According to Wendy’s, the sticks are made with real eggs and milk custard and are paired with a new syrup dip. Wendy’s has a lot of salty and savory options on their menu (biscuits and gravy and the breakfast Baconator for two) but this is the first time the chain has taken a stab at a sweet option. We were psyched to see how one of our favorite fast food chains tackled this.
Let’s see how they fare.
Homestyle French Toast Sticks

Tasting Notes:
I know we aren’t supposed to judge a book by its cover, but with food, as the old saying goes, you eat with your eyes first, and sometimes you can just tell when something isn’t going to be good. I took one in-person look at these French Toast Sticks and I could just tell they were going to be bad. Good French toast has a soft, spongey quality with a perfectly crispy outer, so that when you first take the bite you’re greeted with a buttery crispiness making way for a soft and rich mouthfeel. Wendy’s French Toast Sticks… evoke none of that.
In the marketing material for these sticks, Wendy’s makes a point of mentioning how they’re made with real eggs and dipped in milk custard enhanced with a slight hint of vanilla. My question is, when?
As in, when were these things made, because all I’m getting from these sticks is a stale blandness. It’s like eating really sweet cardboard. I’d be very surprised to find out that these things are made in-house, my assumption is that they’re pre-made and shipped to Wendy’s frozen. I don’t know if that’s true, but that’s what it tastes like.
Dane Rivera
The toast is incredibly dense, and incredibly dry without the syrup. Sans syrup, these sticks already have a sort of maple-infused flavor, but it tastes muddled and flat like it’s being held back by something. The flavors never really come through.
Once dipped in Wendy’s ’Syrup,’ (which is just corn syrup and brown sugar) things improve a lot. The vanilla and maple notes come to the forefront and it works as a great distraction for the dryness of the French toast itself. Still, it’s a bit too sugary sweet to really enjoy. With the syrup, this is sweeter than any French toast I’ve ever had, including the stuff that’s smothered in berries, whipped cream, and brown sugar.
The Bottom Line:
It’s a miss! Stale, dry, and way too sweet. It doesn’t have that spongey, fluffy, soft luxurious mouthfeel that makes French Toast a breakfast favorite.
The 2022-23 schedule for all 30 NBA teams has finally been released, and it allows fans the opportunity to start marking their calendars and planning around the can’t miss games on the schedule. While not every team shares the same goals for the 2022-23 season, they all have games where fans will be circling dates and trying to make sure they’re in the building for or at least able to watch on TV, and here we are going to highlight five such games for each team.
Here, we will glance at the always interesting Los Angeles Lakers. The Lakers flopped to a 33-win performance last season, falling short of preseason expectations in a stark manner. Some of those struggles can be explained by injury concerns for Anthony Davis and LeBron James, but the Lakers face the real potential of floundering even at full strength after what transpired a season ago. Russell Westbrook remains on the roster, but the Lakers overhauled much of the supporting cast. Malik Monk, Carmelo Anthony, Kent Bazemore and others have exited the roster, with Lonnie Walker, Thomas Bryant, Juan Toscano-Anderson, Damian Jones, Troy Brown Jr., and second-round pick Max Christie stepping into the void.
The Lakers always command attention, but this year’s club will be quite interesting every step of the way, often showcasing itself on national television against high-profile opponents.
October 18, 2022: at Golden State Warriors (TNT, 10 p.m. ET)
Well, this is a pretty good way to measure how you stack up against the league’s elite! The Lakers do not get any chance to ease into the 2022-23 campaign and the Darvin Ham era, as the team’s very first game is a trip to the Chase Center to play the Golden State Warriors on a night when the champions will get their rings. Add in that the Warriors won three of the four times these two teams played last season and this is an opportunity to find out right away what this Lakers team is. And if not…
October 20, 2022: Los Angeles Clippers (TNT, 10 p.m. ET)
…they’ll get a chance two days later on their home floor. The Clippers might end up being the best team in basketball this year, depending on how Kawhi Leonard looks when he takes the floor for the first time since getting hurt in the 2020-21 postseason. So, basically, to start the season, the Lakers get matchups against the two teams with the best odds (as of this writing) to win the Western Conference. We’ll find out awfully quickly exactly where this team is, how far it needs to go to become a top team in the West, and more importantly, if a pair of losses to start the year causes some of the cracks we saw last year to reappear and grow even larger.
An inauspicious game in November, yes, but also, this is game number 20 on Los Angeles’ schedule. By this point, we are going to know with some confidence what this Lakers team is and where they sit in the Western Conference hierarchy. After the game, they’re going to hop on a plane, head to Milwaukee, and kick off an Eastern Conference road trip with complete understanding of whether or not they need to make any sort of move (or, if all goes right, if they’re ready to take on all challengers in their quest for a title). Portland’s a tricky matchup in its own right, too, as this is one of the teams that missed the play-in tournament altogether last year that also has aspirations of making the playoffs this time around. L.A. finds itself in the same boat.
February 11, 2023: at Golden State Warriors (ABC, 8:30 p.m. ET)
The NBA has not yet announced a trade deadline for the 2023 season, but we can probably estimate that it’ll be around Feb. 9, which is the Thursday the week before the All-Star break. While the Lakers have a game that night, if they make any big moves on deadline day, it stands to reason that the first game where they could potentially play is that Saturday against the Golden State Warriors. But even if there isn’t a huge trade at the deadline, L.A.’s second road trip to San Francisco of the year to take on the defending champions should serve as an excellent test of how things have gone for them up to that point and what the group of players they’ll hope to ride to a playoff berth are capable of doing.
March 12, 2023: New York Knicks (ESPN, 9 p.m. ET)
Here are the Lakers’ final 15 games: New York, at New Orleans, at Houston, Dallas, Orlando, Phoenix, Oklahoma City, Chicago, at Chicago, at Minnesota, at Houston, at Utah, at the Clippers, Phoenix, Utah. That is a relatively favorable schedule for the Lakers down the stretch. The team was horrendous down the home stretch last season — Los Angeles lost 18 of its final 24 games, which destroyed any hope they had of sneaking into the postseason via the play-in tournament. This time around, they have a ton of home games, a number of matchups with rebuilding teams, and a chance to end the regular season on a high note heading into the postseason … assuming they’re capable of taking advantage of it and make the playoffs.
WARNING: Spoilers for She-Hulk: Attorney at Law Episode 1 below.
Almost immediately after She-Hulk: Attorney at Law smashed onto Disney+, Marvel fans started going wild on social media thanks to the premiere shooting down a fan theory that’s been kicking around since Captain America: The First Avenger. That theory? Steve Rogers is a virgin during the entire Infinity Saga. In the She-Hulk premiere, Tatiana Maslany’s title character (real name: Jennifer Walters) is practically obsessed with Cap’s love life (or lack thereof), which she repeatedly brings up to her cousin Bruce Banner.
The way Jennifer sees it, Steve went into the ice without sealing the deal with Peggy Carter. When he was thawed out just in time for The Battle of New York, he spent the next several years being way too busy saving the world or being a fugitive from the law. Like most citizens in the MCU, she’s also under the impression that Cap died during the events of Avengers: Endgame, so in her legal mind, “America’s Ass” never got to have sex.
However, in a hilarious end-credits scene, Bruce reveals that actually Steve lost his virginity to a girl during his USO tour in 1943. Folks, the internet went wild, and now, Captain America himself is getting in on the act. As She-Hulk continued to trend on social media following its premiere, Chris Evans fired off an emoji-filled tweet reacting to the saucy Steve Rogers reveal.
Each week our staff of film and TV experts surveys the entertainment landscape to select the ten best new/newish shows available for you to stream at home. We put a lot of thought into our selections, and our debates on what to include and what not to include can sometimes get a little heated and feelings may get hurt, but so be it, this is an important service for you, our readers. With that said, here are our selections for this week.
In addition to Selena Gomez being the most enjoyable part of Only Murders In The Building, she’s been quietly racking up delightful seasons of this cooking show. It’s a very simple concept: Selena is not a kitchen expert, but she really loves to cook, so she enlists actual chefs to make this happen. Cue the chaos of Selena attempting to blow out a fire with her mouth, and oh man, why haven’t you been watching this show? It’s very relaxing, other than the occasional infernos, and it gives us many more reasons to realize that she’s vastly underappreciated in Hollywood. Watch it on HBO Max.
What if there was a show from the people who made Mr. Robot and Lodge 49 and it was set at a spooky tropical resort and it starred Cristin Milioti from Palm Springs and William Jackson Harper from The Good Place and the whole thing hinged on a mystery they uncovered because one of them crashed a four-wheeler in the jungle and discovered a mangled old Motorola Razr? Well, guess what: there is. Watch it on Peacock.
The first season of Reservation Dogs was a revelation. Just a group of foul-mouthed Native American teens living on a reservation in Oklahoma and getting into trouble and being little rascals. It was also, sometimes, sweet and, also sometimes, heavy, and sometimes there was a mystical figure who would show up and giggle a lot and kind of just screw with everyone for five minutes. It’s a hard show to describe. But it’s a heck of a ride. Watch it on Hulu.
Neil Gaiman’s seminal comic book series finally lands on the small screen (while the successful Audible epic keeps cranking with a different cast). The story picks up with Morpheus (the King of Dreams) angry as hell at those who imprisoned him. Tom Sturridge takes on the lead role and guides us through space and time on a cosmic trip. Let’s hope this show is worth the extensively long wait (the project has the unenviable task of piecing together a tapestry of sometimes free-standing stories), but no matter how it turns out, we’re getting Gwendoline Christie as Lucifer. That ain’t nothing. Watch it on Netflix.
Popularly and positively referred to as Euphoria and Succession‘s love child, Industry returns for season two, focussing again on the realm of global finance through the lens of the 20-somethings who are consumed by it and the realities of survival and success in a world post panny where satisfaction seems like a hindrance. Watch it on HBO Max.
This show, now in its second season, continues to be just a blast. As it should be. We’ve got Steve Martin, Martin Short, and Selena Gomez solving murders together in a fancy Manhattan building, complete with appearances from everyone from Tina Fey to Da’Vine Joy Randolph to Michael Rapaport. It’s fun and twisty and something people can watch across generations. There’s really not much more you can ask for out of a single television program. Go ahead. You deserve it. Watch it on Hulu.
6. Legacy: The True Story of the Los Angeles Lakers (Hulu)
HULU
There is something intrinsically compelling about the purple and gold with all of their wins, losses, tragedies, and spectacles. That’s why we’re talking, once again, about a project focused on the team and their rich and wild history, following the delicious dramatization of Winning Time and a docuseries focused on Magic Johnson’s life and times. Now we have Legacy: The True Story Of The LA Lakers, a Hulu-made 10-part docuseries from Training Day director Antoine Fuqua in his latest foray into documentary filmmaking and iconic athletes; a series with a story that spans more than 40 years encompassing the entire reign of the Buss family and mononymous legends like Kareem, Magic, Shaq, Kobe, and LeBron. Watch it on Hulu.
The good news here is that Harley Quinn is back, finally, after a multi-year break due to, well, everything. The delightfully profane animated series remains one of our finest television programs, between Harley and Ivy being a couple now and chaos descending upon Gotham and this show’s version of Bane continuing to be a hopeless goofball. It really is a blast, a beam of sunshine in a world filled with bleak dramas. You deserve to have fun. Watch it on HBO Max.
Alison Brie didn’t get to portray this “Allison Brie type” role, but hey, we’re getting Orphan Black‘s Tatiana Maslany, who has so much fun relishing this role. She’s smart and silly and she Hulks out like a pro while also being the MCU’s very green attorney for superheroes. Expect a lot of cameos, and Mark Ruffalo is on hand as Bruce Banner. There’s no word on whether we’ll eventually see the Hulk Butt like we received in Thor: Ragnarok. Admit it, that’s on your wishlist, too. Watch it on Disney Plus.
Nathan Fielder is back with another show that toes the line between awkward and brilliant. His first go-round was Nathan for You, the Comedy Central series where he “helped” people “fix” their businesses. Now he’s got this project, in which he “helps” people plan out conversations and various personal interactions in very, very deep detail. It’s a lot and it’s hard to explain on paper (please do imagine Nathan Fielder pitching this to a confused HBO executive), but it also sounds like a perfectly imagined Nathan Fielder show. Worth a shot. Watch it on HBO Max
The good news here is that the vampires are back. The bad is that… well, there’s not really any bad news. How could there be? This show remains relentlessly fun and silly in a way that almost feels like they’re getting away with something, like someone in charge stopped paying attention and they’re just running wild in their own little sandbox. This is, to be clear, a compliment of the highest order. One of our best shows is back and still humming along in peak form. This is worth celebrating. Watch it on FX/Hulu.
On the surface, a prequel to a cultural phenomenon like Game Of Thrones seems like the easiest greenlight in the world. How could a sister project miss even with the mixed reception to the original’s finale? But House Of The Dragon is the second attempt (with one pilot failing to generate a series order) and it starts with one particular question hanging over its head: was it the world or the characters that inhabited it that made the original so widely adored? We’re about to find out as a new creative team tries to walk a line between old and new, creating fresh stories with a ring of familiarity. On their side: dragons, face-smashing combat, and Matt Smith’s good kinda bad energy. Watch it on HBO Max.
One of Nappy Roots‘ best-known songs might be titled “Good Day” but one of the group’s members had a very bad day recently as reported by The Atlanta Journal-Constitution. Melvin Adams, better known as Fish Scales, opened a brewery called Atlantucky (a reference to Nappy Roots’ home state, Kentucky) alongside bandmate Skinny Deville in Atlanta earlier this year. However, on Wednesday night (August 17), Scales and one of the brewery’s customers were accosted in the parking lot at around 11 pm by two men demanding cash from the bar’s safe.
When the customer fled, police say the men shot him. The two robbers then forced Scales into his car at gunpoint, driving him to his home in Hapeville, where he was able to escape on foot. Scales was shot in the leg as he struggled with one of the robbers during his escape and is recovering at Grady Memorial Hospital. In a statement, his bandmate and business partner Skinny Deville said, “I am certainly relieved that my business partner and brother Scales is safe and recovering. That is what is most important.”
Skinny is unsure whether Scales will be able to perform at the band’s next show in Rapid City, South Dakota on Saturday. However, he remains optimistic. “We’ve had harder situations than this in the music business,” he said. “If COVID didn’t stop us and we opened up during COVID, one little altercation is definitely not going to stop us.” Incidentally, he said, Atlantucky doesn’t even keep cash on-site; all the robbers got away with was $30 and a few personal items.
Angelia Jolie filed for divorce from Brad Pitt on September 19, 2016, five days after an alleged incident on a private jet involving the then-couple. The actress accused Pitt of physically injuring her and verbally assaulating their kids, according to an FBI report.
Jolie “told agents that while traveling back to California with Pitt and their six children following a two-week vacation, her then-husband had been drinking when he told her to accompany him to the back of the plane after he had a tense interaction with one of their children,” CNN reports. While they were both in the airplane bathroom, Pitt allegedly “grabbed her by her head,” “grabbed her by the shoulders,” and pushed her into the wall and accused Jolie of “f*cking up this family.” The report continues:
According to the FBI report, Jolie told investigators that two of their children (whose names are not evident in the redacted report, but were noted to be minors at the time) “were outside the door crying and asked ‘Are you ok Mommy?’” Pitt allegedly yelled in response, “‘No, mommy’s not ok. She’s ruining this family. She’s crazy.’”
According to Jolie, that prompted one of their children to respond “‘It’s not her, it’s you, you pr*ck,’” which she said enraged Pitt and she alleged that she saw him run toward one of the children “like he was going to attack,” at which point she said she got Pitt into a choke hold that he tried to break by throwing himself back, pushing her into the chairs behind them, it says in the report.
Pitt, who “poured beer” on Jolie, is also accused of saying that one of their children looks like a “f*cking Columbine kid.” Jolie suffered injuries to her back and elbow and had a “rug burn type wound” on her left hand, but Pitt was not arrested or charged in connection with the incident following an investigation. “In response to allegations made following a flight within the special aircraft jurisdiction of the United States which landed in Los Angeles carrying Mr. Brad Pitt and his children, the FBI has conducted a review of the circumstances and will not pursue further investigation. No charges have been filed in this matter,” FBI spokeswoman Laura Eimiller told CNN at the time.
Pitt and Jolie have yet to publicly comment on the FBI report being made public.
If you’re looking for a show about sex, complex mother issues, and government conspiracies, look no further than the upcoming American Gigolo TV series reboot! Based on the hit 1980 film starring Richard Gere, the Showtime adaptation is a present-day reimagining of Julian Kaye’s troubled life.
John Bernthal stars as former escort Kaye, who gets released from prison after 15 years due to a wrongful conviction. Kaye must piece together his life post-prison while also trying to find out exactly what happened all those years ago, and who committed the crime he was in jail for.
The latest trailer shows an emotional confrontation with his former lover, government cover-ups, and several shots of Bernthal without a shirt. All in all, it’s a solid look at the series! Here is the official synopsis of the reboot:
American Gigolo, a present-day reimagining of the iconic 1980 film, follows Julian Kaye (Jon Bernthal) after his wrongful conviction release from 15 years in prison as he navigates his complicated relationships with his former lover Michelle (Gretchen Mol), his troubled mother, and the people who betrayed him. While Julian struggles to reconcile the escort he was in the past and the man he is today, Detective Sunday (Rosie O’Donnell) seeks the truth about the murder that sent Julian to prison all those years ago, unearthing a much larger conspiracy along the way.
The 10-episode series will begin streaming on September 9th. Check out the trailer above.
This naturally blew up, and Cardi fan pages shared a photo of De Los Santos and Cardi together, with the red tattoo somewhat visible on Cardi’s face, close to her ear. Though it’s hard to make out what the tattoo actually is because of the angle of the picture, it looks like text. And yes, it’s very real.
This follows her January tweet that expressed her desire of getting a face tattoo. “Random but ….I’m 1% close too tatting my sons name on my face….I really really wanna do it!” she wrote. In response to a fan saying they wanted to get a tattoo by their ear, Cardi added, “I want mine on my jaw.” Congratulations to Cardi for going out there and getting what she wants! Hopefully more photos will arrive soon and give us a clearer idea of what it is.
Cardi B is a Warner Music artist. Uproxx is an independent subsidiary of Warner Music Group.
In September, Kid Cudi’s ambitious new album project, Entergalactic, is coming out alongside its animated series component. Naturally, that also means a tour, which Cudi announced earlier this summer and kicked off this week in Vancouver. The To The Moon World Tour will see him traverse the United States before hopping the pond for dates in Japan, Denmark, The Netherlands, The United Kingdom, Belgium, France, and Italy.
— The Chosen One : I YOU FRESHIE 4EVER (@KiDCuDi) June 28, 2022
Of course, he’ll be bringing along some friends to support him on the tour, including Denzel Curry, 070 Shake, and YSL rapper Strick. Meanwhile, burgeoning Houston star Don Toliver, who was previously billed to appear as well, was forced to drop out due to logistical issues. He explained his absence in his own statement on Twitter writing, “Unfortunately due to production/logistical issues I am no longer able to appear on the `To the Moon’ tour with Kid Cudi. My top priority is creating an experience that my fans deserve. We tried every possible option but ultimately there was no solution.”
The remaining openers should be able to put on a worthwhile show of their own. Denzel Curry is fresh off the release of his new album, Melt My Eyez See Your Future, and has been on a tour of his own to warm up ahead of supporting Kid Cudi’s early dates. 070 Shake’s new album is called You Can’t Kill Me and she’ll be picking up where Denzel leaves off. Strick, who just dropped his mixtape, The Machine Vol. 3, will carry the torch for YSL through all of the US dates except Cudi’s hometown performance in Cleveland at his Moon Man’s Landing Festival.
