As much fuss is made about the post-Outkast antics of Andre 3000, in truth, both halves of the vaunted Atlanta rap duo have some pretty out-there hobbies. Big Boi, long considered the more down-to-earth member of the pioneering group, recently revealed that he’s gotten into falconry by way of some great big owls that he brought to Stankonia Studios. His post with his feathered pets — one of which is appropriately named Hootie — has rap fans going gaga over his unusual interest.

“Redman is a professional skydiver, Bun B is making award-winning burgers, [and] Big Boi is damn near an owl whisperer,” one fan wrote. “I love our OG’s.” Another noted that “Andre appears in random stores playing the flute like an elusive woodland sprite [and] big boi has domesticated owls as companions. I love it.” Yet another was amused at the juxtaposition between the two rappers’ reputations: “It’s interesting how Andre was always painted as the eccentric one when Big Boi is over here being a libertarian who’s obsessed with kate bush and has a pet owl,” they wrote.

That last comment was a commentary on the recently resurfaced Pitchfork video in which Big Boi discussed his love for Kate Bush’s 1985 hit “Running Up That Hill,” which itself experienced a resurgence in popularity due to its prominent appearance in the fan-favorite Netflix sci-fi show Stranger Things. He also recorded a song with the singer which has yet to see the light of day.

The leader of the new school and R&B’s favorite “toxic” king, Brent Faiyaz is back with another video for “All Mine” from his latest album Wasteland. “Toxic” is a term Faiyaz is hesitant to claim and beliefs have been placed on him by the internet as a response to living his life and sharing his seemingly distasteful relationship takes with the world. Call it toxic if you will, but to the F*ck The World crooner it’s simply “some real sh*t.”

Continuing the black and white visual theme with “Loose Change,” Faiyaz also fuels the less than favorable depiction of a romantic partner as he has his main lady, played by model Joan Smalls waiting on him at dinner while he gallivants through the city. Admittedly, Faiyaz knows that “[he’s] been the worst/ but [he’ll] love you better/ if you let [him],” as the song lyrics go.

Yet, as the poetic lyrics progress, he is adamant that if you (or Smalls) are willing to ” catch a flight/ change the weather/ [he] promises forever.” At this point Smalls is alternating between the var and her table at a lavish restaurant, crying in and out of the restroom and profusely checking her phone. As you can imagine, everything that occurs afterwards is all bad.

It’s almost as if time is real and constantly passing us by? A trailer for the fifth season of the beloved Kevin Costner vehicle dropped on Thursday, courtesy of the Paramount Network.

The trailer teases an action and drama-packed season that focuses on the most exciting thing of all: politics in the state of Montana. The season’s ominous tagline is, “power comes at a price.” In case you haven’t heard about the very popular and ruthless show about a dysfunctional rich and powerful family (sound familiar?), here’s an official description from Paramount:

Yellowstone is a drama series that follows the Dutton family, led by patriarch John Dutton (Costner). The Duttons control the largest contiguous ranch in the U.S. and must contend with constant attacks by land developers, clashes with an Indian reservation and conflict with America’s first national park.

In her book, Confidence Man: The Making of Donald Trump and the Breaking of America, The New York Times reporter Maggie Haberman talks about Trump’s decision to put his old pal Rudy in charge of Operation Overturn The Election. And how it wasn’t the pair’s decades-long friendship that got Rudy the gig — but his willingness to actually attempt to claim that a totally legitimate presidential election was rigged. Which no other lawyer worth their license to practice was apparently willing to do, and understandably so.

According to The Independent, Haberman writes that Giuliani’s eagerness to embark on The Big Lie is what really sealed the deal (and his fate) on being appointed the head of Trump’s personal legal team. The book claims that Trump gave Rudy his blessing to take control of the narrative regarding the 2020 presidential election, and that all bets were off when it came to any restrictions.

“Okay, Rudy, you’re in charge,” Trump reportedly said. “Go wild, do anything you want. I don’t care. My lawyers are terrible.”

To his credit, Giuliani did indeed “go wild,” as evidenced by his press conference at Four Seasons Total Landscaping. And his goo-leaking head. And farting during a hearing. And telling an Arizona election official that “We’ve got lots of theories” about voter fraud — “we just don’t have the evidence.” And apparently being the one who, in a drunken stupor, advised Trump to just go ahead and declare victory on Election Night in the first place.

Have you ever sat down for your annual autumnal rewatch of The Matrix series and thought, “This is great but it would be better if maybe Keanu Reeves had a dance number or two?”

Probably not, but then you start thinking “actually, there could be some really interesting choreographed sequences in here” and suddenly you’re mapping out an immersive dance experience based on the hit sci-fi blockbuster. That’s probably where director Danny Boyle came up with his idea for Free Your Mind, the upcoming choreography-based adaptation of The Matrix.

Boyle will direct the project which will debut at a new arts center in Manchester, U.K. next fall. The production is described as a “large-scale immersive performance” which will hopefully not feature any audience members swallowing various colorful pills. According to the show’s logline:

Combining the hip-hop choreography of hundreds of dancers with the latest immersive design, Free Your Mind will take audiences on a thrilling journey through The Matrix and into a new realm of possibilities. This eye-opening production will stretch across the building’s ultra-flexible spaces, responding to them and harnessing the collective energy of the moment.

The director is known for non-dancing movies like 28 Days Later, 127 Hours, and Trainspotting, so this new venture will be quite intriguing! Though, to be fair, he did win an Oscar for Slumdog Millionaire, so he knows a little bit about intricate dance sequences. It doesn’t seem like Reeves is on board, but we hear he loves showing up to dancing events unexpectedly, so maybe it will work out.

The arrival of The Weather Channel’s Jim Cantore never bodes well, and Hurricane Ian continues to pack a wallop. This week, Cantore felt the brunt of Mother Nature while getting whacked by a tree in Tampa, Florida. And in Orlando, a reporter for CNN affiliate WESH performed a daring rescue of a nurse whose vehicle got trapped in rising flood waters as she attempted to make her way to work (hurricane dangers ain’t no joke). Fortunately, the parties in this story are all safe and accounted for as the storm continues to churn away.

CNN affiliate WESH reporter Tony Atkins waded into flooding caused by Hurricane Ian to assist the stranded nurse. The cable news network posted video of the heroic act, in which Tony Atkins carried the woman on his back while they made their way to slightly drier ground.

Even though the woman’s car engine probably didn’t make it, she walked away with her life and she also made it to work. As Atkins later revealed on Twitter, the woman’s daughter sent a thank you note in his direction. “Her job as a nurse hung in the balance, according to her daughter,” wrote Atkins. “So glad things worked out. #NoCarNoProblem.”

All things considered, this is a miraculous story, especially considering the damage that this storm has wrought. Here’s a WESH video showing a roof being torn off in Daytona Beach. Stay safe out there, everyone.
