The #1 Most Delicious New Dish At Every Big Fast Food Chain

We all have our die-hard fast food favorites. Those few menu options that we can always turn to, whether we’re looking for the most decadent desserts, hearty breakfasts, or simple snacks to help elevate our orders. But every few months, our favorite fast food brands drop a brand new menu item (or three) sure to give you a bout of drive-thru anxiety while trying to decide whether to try the hot new thing or stay with the tried and true standards.

Risk it all or bet on the sure thing? It’s a quandary as old as time!

The last thing anyone wants is to waste money and be disappointed in their fast food — which is why we like to take the hits for you by telling you what’s good and what’s trash. Today that means diving deep into all of the “best new dishes” in the fast food universe right now. We’re currently living in that weird transitional period between seasons, so move fast as some of these tasty new menu items will only be available for a limited time.

Arby’s — Prime Rib Cheesesteak

Best New Food
Arby

Why We Love It:

Unfortunately, right now at Arby’s, this is your ONLY new option, so it wins by default, not necessarily because we love it. The Prime Rib Cheesesteak combines prime rib steak and onions with shredded melted provolone and roasted bell peppers on a white roll. The steak has a nice savory and meaty flavor (but can sometimes be a bit too dry), with a sumptuous grilled onion layer that is complimented by the sweet vegetal notes of the red and yellow bell peppers.

Our only gripe is that Arby’s doesn’t put enough bell peppers on this thing.

The Bottom Line:

The Prime Rib Cheesesteak is only available for an unspecified amount of time so move fast if you want to try it. It’s leagues better than anything Subway has, we should know.

Find your nearest Arby’s here.

Burger King — Bacon and Swiss Cheese Royal Crispy Chicken

Best New Food
Burger King

Why We Love It:

Burger King’s Ch’King Sandwich is the one thing this brand is any good at making, so we always welcome any spin on the chicken sandwich that Burger King wants to try. The new Bacon and Swiss Cheese Royale Crispy Chicken might play it safe, but it’s delicious — at the end of the day that’s all that matters to us.

This sandwich adds bacon, tomato, and Swiss cheese to the OG recipe, creating an elevated quality that makes for a more substantial and satisfying sandwich. BK’s Royal sauce is a sort of savory comeback style sauce that goes heavy on the mayo and pairs nicely with the sweet and nutty Swiss cheese, and smokey bacon, but the star of the show here is still that chicken patty, which is crispy, tender, and well seasoned with black pepper and garlic.

The Bottom Line:

A simple but ultimately tasty alteration of Burger King’s new chicken sandwich.

Find your nearest Burger King here.

Chick-fil-A — Peach Milkshake

Best New Food
Chick-fil-A

Why We Love It:

Chick-fil-A doesn’t really do new menu items, the brand seems laser-focused on its core sandwiches, nuggets, and tenders, but they do have seasonal treats, and the summer’s peach milkshake is one of its finest. Available for a limited time — which is surely due to end any week now — the peach milkshake utilizes fresh peaches blended in Chick-fil-A’s soft serve ice cream base for a milkshake that is sweet as it is refreshing.

The initial flavor that hits your tongue is a pleasant sweet tartness that settles into a rich and creamy vanilla before ending with a slightly sour peach-skin finish. It tastes like summer in milkshake form.

The Bottom Line:

It’s fast food’s greatest milkshake. Period.

Find your nearest Chick-fil-A here.

Del Taco — Carne Asada & Queso Torta

Del Taco
Dane Rivera

Why We Love It:

Del Taco has just rolled out a trio of tortas, which is kind of a big deal because no other Mexican-inspired chain has taken a stab at tortas yet — a shame considering tortas are f*cking delicious. Having said that, Del Taco’s tortas aren’t even trying to be authentic — which doesn’t really matter because they’re still good. The best of the new line is the Carne Asada and Queso, which consists of carne asada spread across a seven-inch toasted roll topped with Queso Blanco, cheddar cheese, and pico de Gallo.

The bread is soft and well toasted, and the flavors come together nicely, with the weakest link being Del Taco’s chewy carne asada. Sub chicken into this, add beans and you’ve got a much better sandwich.

The Bottom Line:

Del Taco’s new tortas are worth trying — if you’re looking for the best, grab the Carne Asada and Queso.

Find your nearest Del Taco here.

El Pollo Loco — Shredded Chicken Quesadilla

Best New Food
El Pollo Loco

Why We Love It:

El Pollo Loco actually fire grills their marinated chicken every day on sight, everything they do with chicken hits, whether you’re eating your favorite piece, or enjoying the chicken in a burrito or bowl, and the new Shredded Chicken Quesadilla is no exception. The chicken is incredibly tender and full of smokey and citrusy flavors. Each bite is elevated with the fresh and peppery flavor of cilantro, onions, and melted jack cheese in a crispy buttery tortilla.

Definitely ask for extra avocado salsa with this one, it tastes even better dipped.

The Bottom Line:

El Pollo Loco makes some of the best chicken in fast food and as a result, this is now one of fast food’s best quesadillas — take that, Chipotle.

Find your nearest El Pollo Loco here.

KFC — Mac & Cheese Bowl

Best New Food
KFC

Why We Love It:

Admittedly, there is something unsettling about KFC’s Mac & Cheese bowl and if you’re quick to write this one off because KFC’s macaroni side is objectively terrible, that’s totally fair… but at least give it a shot. The main problem with KFC’s mac is that it’s almost always over-cooked, with engorged macaroni elbows that instantly turn to mush in your mouth, leaving you only with a wet salty cheese flavor.

But by adding tiny popcorn chicken into the bowl, those problems are fixed. It’s a lot easier to not focus on that mushy noodle because you have crispy crunch coming from the chicken. The garlic, onion powder, and pepper-forward flavor of the chicken pairs nicely with the sharp and salty Kraft-style cheese sauce, with a small pinch of a melted three cheese blend adding a bit of complexity to the cheese-y notes. Our only issue is that this bowl is really f*cking salty.

The Bottom Line:

Better than it looks but it’s stoner food. It’s not meant to be eaten with a sober mind.

Find your nearest KFC here.

Popeyes — Hushpuppy Butterfly Shrimp

Best New Food
Popeyes

Why We Love It:

I don’t love fast food sea food — it’s always a little bit funky — but this is fried shrimp we’re talking about, it’s kind of hard to mess this one up. Plus, it’s Popeyes! Global experts at frying things! The butterfly shrimp is salty, buttery, and a bit sweet with a crispy breading that practically shatters in the mouth.

Popeyes gives a side of Cajun Cocktail sauce to dip this fried shrimp in, and that’s fine, but ditch that shit and just order a side of mashed potatoes with gravy and dip it in that. You’ll still get some of those cajun spices, but with an added savory component that will elevate the simple shrimp.

The Bottom Line:

Popeyes is always switching out its seafood option but the Hushpuppy Shrimp is easily the brand’s best foray into seafood.

Find your nearest Popeyes here.

Shake Shack — Bourbon Bacon Cheddar Burger

Best New Food
Shake Shack

Why We Love It:

It’s insane how good this burger is. The Bourbon Bacon Cheddar Burger was rolled out at the start of the summer, so it’s only a matter of time before this baby is gone and when that happens it’ll be a true shame. The BBCB features a Shack burger patty topped with bourbon bacon jam, white cheddar, fried shallots, and ShackSauce on a potato bun.

The bacon jam is made with actual Maker’s Mark Bourbon and features a sweet and sumptuous smokey flavor with a hint of oak that together with the beef and nutty and sweet cheddar creates a mouthwateringly delicious and savory flavor. It’s the kind of thing that makes you say “oh f*ck.” The crispy shallots add a lot of depth to the overall flavor, infusing each bite with a crunchy mouthfeel and a delicately sharp and sweet aftertaste.

The Bottom Line:

Shake Shack’s most decadent burger and it’s probably only going to be on the menu for a few more weeks. Move fast.

Find your nearest Shake Shack here.

Starbucks — Apple Crisp Macchiato

Starbucks Fall
Dane Rivera

Why We Love It:

You wouldn’t know it because of how insanely hot it is, but it’s currently Pumpkin Spice season at Starbucks. Since it’s too hot to be drinking anything that tastes like Thanksgiving, give Starbucks’ new Apple Crisp Macchiato a shot. We actually like this a whole lot more than the Pumpkin Spiced Latte, it features a light and delicate flavor that starts off a bit sour, like apple skin, before settling into something sweet and comforting, like a slice of apple pie.

It’s fruity, delicate, and refreshing — the perfect (late) summer iced coffee.

The Bottom Line:

We know it’s Pumpkin Spice season but the Apple Crisp is our new favorite Starbucks fall treat.

Find your nearest Starbucks here.

Subway — Supreme Meats

Subway Series Ranking
Dane Rivera

Why We Love It:

Recently Subway revamped its whole menu and added a new series of 12 different sandwiches you can now order by name. We’ve tried all twelve of them and the best one is easily the Supreme Meats.

This sandwich features Black Forest ham, Genoa salami, pepperoni, capicola, provolone, lettuce, tomatoes, red onions, banana peppers, and parmesan vinaigrette on a toasted bun. Each bite provides a medley of smokey, peppery, and salty meat flavors, with tangy veggies that combine to create some umami-like qualities on the palate.

The Bottom Line:

Subway made a name for itself by giving people the choice to build their sandwiches however they’d like, that has resulted in Subway getting kind of a bad reputation. The Supreme Meats is a testament to the strength of Subway’s ingredients, which are pretty damn solid when combined the right way.

Find your nearest Subway here.

Taco Bell — Spicy Double Steak Grilled Cheese Burrito

Best Taco Bell
Taco Bell

Why We Love It:

Taco Bell’s Spicy Double Steak Grilled Cheese Burrito features jalapeño slices encased in a blend of cheeses grilled onto a giant flour tortilla, need we really say more? This is the kind of stuff we expect out of Taco Bell — insanely appetizing stoner food that turns your stomach but is worth the pain.

This burrito features steak, rice, and tortilla chips with sour cream, nacho cheese, and chipotle sauce wrapped in a grilled tortilla. Each bite is hearty, mildly spicy, and crunchy. The tortilla, in particular, is my favorite Taco Bell innovation in some time, if the brand could step up their steak game they’d really have one of the best burritos in all of fast food. Unfortunately, like all of Taco Bell’s best ideas, this burrito is held back by the sub-par quality of its ingredients.

The steak is chewy and the rice is bland and dry, but as far as Taco Bell burritos go, it’s one of the best on the menu right now. Seriously though, that tortilla, with its spicy, crunchy, and cheesy flavor is so damn good that we’d eat anything wrapped in it.

The Bottom Line:

For a Taco Bell burrito, it’s great… but at the end of the day, it’s a Taco Bell burrito. Only eat it if you’re stoned.

Find your nearest Taco Bell here.

Wendy’s — Hot Honey Chicken (Spicy)

Wendy's Sandwich Review
Dane Rivera

Why We Love It:

Hot Honey Chicken Sandwiches are fast food’s current obsession, just about every brand has given this concept a spin but none have done it as well as Wendy’s — probably why it’s a permanent menu item now. Featuring a spicy chicken breast filet, this sandwich is topped with pepper jack cheese, a habanero-based hot honey sauce, bacon, and the best culinary creation Wendy’s has ever given us, fried dill pickle chips.

The way everything comes together in this sandwich is perfect, it’s crunchy, spice-forward with a strong cayenne pepper kick, and a sauce that perfectly balances citrusy habanero notes with slightly sweet and floral honey. To round out the flavor, the fried pickles add an earthy tang that plays nicely with the strong and spicy aftertaste and helps to keep it in control.

There is a lot of balance in this sandwich that allows for a strong spicy kick that isn’t so hot that you can’t enjoy it. Really one of Wendy’s best sandwiches on the menu.

The Bottom Line:

2022 will go down as the year when fast food chains became obsessed with the hot honey chicken sandwich, but no brand did it as well as Wendy’s. No, not even Popeyes.

South Carolina State’s Punter Had A Hysterical Illegal Punt In The Opener Against UCF

Though Week Zero provided a great deal of entertainment for college football die-hards, Week One of the 2022 college football season began in earnest with a full slate of Thursday night action. The return of the Backyard Brawl between West Virginia and Pittsburgh grabbed part of the spotlight, with a conference battle between Penn State and Purdue among the other notable matchups. However, a play from another game caused a ruckus, and it involved the special teams of South Carolina State.

Midway through the first quarter, South Carolina State trailed UCF by a 7-0 margin, and that was not a shock given that the visitors entered the night as approximately 43-point underdogs against a more talented FBS opponent. From there, South Carolina State faced a fourth-and-long scenario, and all expectations were that the Bulldogs would punt the ball back to UCF. Then, fireworks erupted when the South Carolina State punter took off in an apparent fake attempt and seemingly had at least a modest chance to reach the first down marker.

However, he had other ideas.

Yes, that is a college punter electing to kick the ball approximately ten full yards beyond the line of scrimmage. That is amusing enough on its own, but the ESPN+ broadcast was utterly baffled by what transpired, adding an extra level of entertainment.

Overall, it’s not the worst result in the world for South Carolina State, and the Bulldogs aren’t likely to pull off the upset no matter what happened on this particular play. Still, you won’t see many punt attempts from this far beyond the line of scrimmage at any level, and it’s Week One for everyone.

Bryson Tiller Announces His New Single Is Coming Next Week

Bryson Tiller is a man of few words and generally stays out of the way. Thus, when he speaks, it causes a huge commotion among fans who are always craving new sounds from him. The Trapsoul artist appears to be gearing up for the next era of his career as Thursday (September 1) he announced that his new single will be coming next week on September 8.

In a brief Instagram reel with a sunny background, the Louisville artist greeted the fans before announcing the first single for his forthcoming album. As for the album itself, he claims that “we’ll talk about that later” which leaves things up in the air as to whether it will come out in 2022, but he did say he has been waiting for a long time for it to come out.

Regardless, it is an exciting time for his fans as he hasn’t released a traditional project since 2020’s Anniversary, though he did exude the holiday spirit in 2021 with A Different Christmas featuring Justin Bieber, Kiana Lede, and more. Kanye West Gives Adidas CEO Kasper Rorsted The Pete Davidson Treatment By Also Declaring Him Dead On Instagram

Kanye West has made many enemies over the last few years, and through all of the drama, at least all seemed well with his creative collaborator Adidas. However, it appears there is some tension in that relationship now as Ye has given Adidas CEO Karper Rorsted the same treatment he gave Pete Davison, by pronouncing him dead on Instagram.

In a post from early Thursday (September 1), the Donda artist posted a New York Times graphic where the front page reads “Karper Rorsted Also Dead At 66.” The sudden anger toward Rorsted likely stems from the fact the Chicago artist claims the company held “Yeezy Day” without his approval back in August, Complex reported.

Kanye IG Rant August
Kanye West

He also alleges that Adidas reissued older pairs of his products without his input, hired employees without his input, and slowed down the production of his sneaker collaboration with Balenciaga and Gap despite the fact he was in breach of his contract. If that isn’t enough, West claims he approached Three Stripes to create and distribute more of his popular Yeezy Slides, only for the brand to say “they didn’t have the capacity” only to copy his design and make the Adilette 22 Slides.

Kanye West cannot seem to avoid controversy or pushing people away, so time will tell how the relationship will continue as the situation unfolds.

Seth Rogen, Pete Davidson, Sebastian Stan, And Paul Dano Lead A Smart Cast For The GameStop Short Squeeze Movie ‘Dumb Money’

It’s sort of funny that it’s taken this long to announce a GameStop stonks movie. When the initial, infamous short squeeze happened in January 2021, it seemed like everyone immediately announced a documentary about the event that was still unfolding. A handful have already come out, but we’ve yet to see a true Hollywood take on the subject until now.

According to Variety, Seth Rogen will lead the cast for Craig Gillespie‘s Dumb Money alongside Paul Dano, Sebastian Stan, and Pete Davidson. No word on who is playing whom.

The movie is based off the book The Antisocial Network: The GameStop Short Squeeze and the Ragtag Group of Amateur Traders That Brought Wall Street to Its Knees by Ben Mezrich, an author continually attempting to outdo the length of his titles. 21 and The Social Network were also based on Mezrich’s books. Social disruption, big money, and tech are his favorite wheelhouses, and they all collide for this story. Luckily, more than a year and a half into the saga, there’s even more information about how all of it has unfolded, giving Gillespie a chance to really make his film worthwhile.

Otherwise, it’s a cash-in on hype. Luckily, Gillespie — who worked with Rogen and Stan for Pam & Tommy — is one of the best for mining human absurdity for something with heart. Of the people who might be involved in a project like this, these are some of the least worrisome. This should fall into the lineage of movies like The Big Short, which found success explaining complicated economic swindling into darkly funny, digestible bites. But unlike the Adam McKay film with Margot Robbie explaining sub-prime loans in a bubble bath, we’re still potentially in the middle of GameStop stock drama, with a group of retail investors, convinced that there’s a bigger squeeze yet to come, directly registering their shares so that they’re untouchable to short sellers.

Confused yet? Where’s Seth Rogen in a bubble bath when you need him?

Stephen A. Smith Is Upset The Knicks, ‘Who Make Me Sick,’ Didn’t Get Donovan Mitchell

You’ve all been waiting for it, and now, it is time: Here is the post about Stephen A. Smith reacting to the New York Knicks not getting Donovan Mitchell. Of course, Mitchell, a New York native, was mentioned all summer as a priority for the Knicks in the trade market, but on Thursday afternoon, we learned that the Cleveland Cavaliers were able to acquire his services.

Now, Mitchell will join the Cavs’ exciting young core, while the Knicks’ collection of young talent and draft picks will not turn into a star this time. No one, and I mean no one, is more upset about this than Smith, the ESPN personality and Knicks fan who got so bothered that he pulled out his phone while in a car and fired off a take about how the Knicks “make me sick.”

“You see what I’m saying? You see what I’m saying?” Smith asked. “Every single time, man, something goes wrong. I wanted Donovan Mitchell in New York, I shut my mouth, I didn’t say a word. I didn’t say a word. Because I didn’t wanna blow it, I didn’t wanna get in the way. You got about seven or eight first round picks, you got R.J. Barrett, you got Julius Randle, you got [Obi] Toppin, you got Immanuel Quickley, and ya still couldn’t get Donovan Mitchell. Ya still couldn’t get ’em.

“So once again, we’re gonna go into another season and the New York Knicks are devoid of a star,” he continued. “They’re somewhere other than in a New York Knicks uniform. See? This is what I’m trying to say, man, they make me sick. Nothing ever gets done in New York with the Knicks, nothing! Nothing! I’ll be cool, it just never ends with the Knicks. It just never freakin’ ends.”

Smith then let out what I would call a half scream. The man is an artist.

The Trailer For Western ‘The English’ Rains Blood And Dollar Bills

The resurgence of The Western continues with Emily Blunt and Chaske Spencer trying to get to Wyoming. Will they ford the river? Or get dysentery? We’ll have to watch as all 6 episodes drop on Prime Video November 11th.

Here’s the full official synopsis:

The English is an epic chase Western from award-winning writer and director Hugo Blick (The Honourable Woman, Black Earth Rising, The Shadow Line). The series takes the core themes of identity and revenge to tell a uniquely compelling parable on race, power, and love. An aristocratic Englishwoman, Lady Cornelia Locke (Blunt), and a Pawnee ex-cavalry scout, Eli Whipp (Spencer), come together in 1890 middle America to cross a violent landscape built on dreams and blood. Both of them have a clear sense of their destiny, but neither is aware that it is rooted in a shared past. They must face increasingly terrifying obstacles that will test them to their limits, physically and psychologically. But as each obstacle is overcome, it draws them closer to their ultimate destination—the new town of Hoxem, Wyoming. It is here, after an investigation by the local sheriff Robert Marshall (Stephen Rea, The Shadow Line) and young widow Martha Myers (Valerie Pachner, A Hidden Life) into a series of bizarre and macabre unsolved murders, that the full extent of their intertwined history will be truly understood, and they will come face-to-face with the future they must live. The series’ ensemble cast includes Rafe Spall (The Salisbury Poisonings), Tom Hughes (A Discovery of Witches), Toby Jones (Marvellous), and Ciarán Hinds (The Terror).”

But seriously, we know for sure that they aren’t going to caulk their wagon because they make it to their destination. Never caulk the wagon. Just pay the premium for boarding the ferry across the river. Trust me.

Obviously, this is just a teaser, but it’s not holding back on the violence and greed represented by the classic vibes of the genre. Still, with Blunt and Spencer at the center of the story, there’s a sense that this will be more of an anti-Western, or at least one that challenges the old tropes. Plus, a bonus whodunnit? That’s a fantastically promising mash-up, anchored by a powerhouse cast.

Brian Windhorst Says Donovan Mitchell Ran Around A Golf Course Celebrating Getting Traded To The Cavs

Donovan Mitchell is headed to the Cleveland Cavaliers after the Utah Jazz balked at the most recent offer from the New York Knicks and went back to the Cavs to hammer out a blockbuster deal that sees Collin Sexton go to Utah in a sign-and-trade along with three unprotected future firsts, a pair of pick swaps, Lauri Markkanen, and Ochai Agbaji.

Mitchell’s new Cavs teammates expressed their excitement on Twitter about the deal, but we haven’t heard from the man himself as to how he’s feeling. Luckily, we have Brian Windhorst to help us out with that, as Windy hopped on the radio with ESPN 850 in Cleveland after the deal went down and made sure Cavs fans knew Mitchell was excited, providing a rather hilarious anecdote about Mitchell finding out about the trade while golfing and going crazy when he learned none of the Cavs young stars were going out in the deal.

“It’s a great fit for Donovan Mitchell,” Windhorst said. “And I’m gonna tell you, I can’t tell you how I know, but I’m aware of when he found out. And I’m aware of when he actually found out about what was in the trade. And when he found out — he was on a golf course — and when he found out that Mobley, Jarrett Allen, and Darius Garland were not in the trade, and neither was Kevin Love, he went screaming around the golf course, he was so excited. He’s extremely excited in this moment. I’m sure he would love to have been a Knick, that’s his hometown. But he’s extremely excited in the moment.”

It’s the most Windy way possible to start this, by saying “I can’t tell you how I know,” but I can absolutely see an elated Mitchell getting the call on a tee box and celebrating when he learned that the deal is mostly picks focused and the core of the good, young Cavs is still going to be there when he arrives.

The 1975 Clown Around With Phoebe Bridgers On ‘I’m In Love With You’

The October release of The 1975’s fifth album, Being Funny In A Foreign Language, is shaping up to be a real doozy as the boundary-pushing English rock band is flashing a diverse offering of new tunes. From the danceability of “Happiness,” to the melodic melancholy of “Part Of The Band,” and now to a happy-go-lucky escape on the newly-released “I’m In Love With You” featuring Phoebe Bridgers. The band actually premiered the song at their Summer Sonic festival performance, and now, we get the full experience.

In the track’s video, The 1975 are part of a quaint village of clowns/mimes. A love story unfolds, wrapped into an interpretive dance number. There are balloons, flowers, juggling pins, and then out of nowhere, sitting on a park bench, Phoebe Bridgers with the clown-mime make-up on. As the song reaches a crescendo, the band and Bridgers shed their make-up and play the celebratory hook singing, It’s not that deep, I’ve been counting my blessings, thinking this through. Just like ‘1, 2.. yeah I’m in love with you!!’ I’m in love with you.”

Bridgers shared some behind-the-scenes photos from the shoot on Instagram.
