Drake, Billie Eilish, And Blink-182 Will Headline Lollapalooza’s 2023 Festivals In Brazil, Chile, And Argentina

Blink-182 started this morning (October 11) with a blast from the past, but Lollapalooza is looking forward to 2023. Blink, Billie Eilish, Drake, Lil Nas X, Rosalía, and Tame Impala were announced as headliners for next year’s Lollapalooza festivals in Argentina (from March 17 to 19), Brazil (March 24 to 26), and Chile (March 17 to 19). Tickets are available now.

The concerts will bring Blink, Eilish, and Lil Nas X to South America for the first time, while Drake will stage his first-ever shows in Argentina and Chile, per release.

Drake made headlines last week by teasing his Apollo Theater debut in November. Eilish recently wrapped her Happier Than Ever World Tour, and Lil Nas X is fully immersed in his Long Live Montero Tour. Rosalía is riding the high of Motomami, and Tame Impala recently joined forces with Gorillaz. But all eyes are on Blink.

Earlier this morning, the pop-punk icons confirmed long-swirling rumors, and Tom DeLonge is officially reunited with Mark Hoppus and Travis Barker for a brand new album and world tour. It began with a (very Blink) tongue-in-cheek teaser video, and this era’s first single “Edging” is due Friday (October 14).

Other artists set to take the Lollapalooza stage across Argentina, Brazil, and Chile include Jane’s Addiction, The 1975, Armin Van Buuren, Jamie xx, Kali Uchis, Claptone, Fred Again.., Mora, Tove Lo, Alison Wonderland, Gorgon City, Rise Against, Aurora, Dominic Fike, Wallows, and recent Uproxx cover star Conan Gray.

See all three lineup posters below.

Some artists covered here are Warner Music artists. Uproxx is an independent subsidiary of Warner Music Group.

Craft Beer Pros Reveal The Pumpkin Beers That Are Actually Worth Trying

When the fall winds begin to swirl, it’s tough to get away from the onslaught of pumpkin spice. Loved by many and hated by even more, when autumn arrives it feels like all other flavors are no longer acceptable. Everything from lattes to candles to Twinkies to bodywash gets pumpkin spiced.

This includes, of course, beer.

Just like pumpkin spice being added to every other product on the market brings out squeals of delight and groans of annoyance, pumpkin (or pumpkin-spiced) beers are both beloved and hated by the beer-drinking community. If you enjoy them, this is your favorite time of year. If you don’t, you’ll avoid them like a pumpkin pie-flavored plague.

Regardless of the divisiveness of this beer style, brewers all over the country drop their own pumpkin-centric beers each fall. Not all of them are worth trying though. To find the ones actually worth your effort, we went to the professionals for help, asking a few of our favorite craft beer experts and brewers to tell us their go-to pumpkin beers for fall.

Keep reading to see them all.

Southern Tier Pumking

Southern Tier Pumking
Southern Tier

Dan Schmelzer, head brewer at Lagunitas Brewing Company in Petaluma, California

ABV: 8.6%

Average Price: $15.99 for a four-pack

Why This Beer?

Though not readily available out in the Pacific Northwest where I currently reside, Southern Tier’s Pumking Imperial Ale reminds me of the autumn days back in my native Chicago where I got my start in the industry. At 8.6%, it’s strong enough to help that summer-to-fall transition become a bit more pleasant, while the light body keeps it drinkable for the duration of whatever autumnal sport suits your fancy. A great balance of pumpkin pie spices makes this brew stand out in a crowd of this uber-seasonal style.

Oliphant Blizzard of ’91

Oliphant Blizzard of '91
Oliphant

Garth E. Beyer, certified Cicerone® and owner and founder of Garth’s Brew Bar in Madison, Wisconsin

ABV: 5%

Average Price: Limited Availability

Why This Beer?

Oliphant Brewing combines slices of pumpkin and pecan pie to make their annual Blizzard of ’91 beer. It’s spicy and sweet and just robust enough that it doesn’t kill your palate, but wow, do the sweetness and spicy notes dance well together. For the greatest flavor impact, let it warm up a touch.

Cigar City Good Gourd

Cigar City Good Gourd
Cigar City

James Bruner, director of production at The Bruery in Placentia, California

ABV: 8.8%

Average Price: $11.50 for a six-pack

Why This Beer?

As much as a seasonal creep on pumpkin beers has become somewhat of a joke (read: breweries making pumpkin beer in July), I have always been a fan of Cigar City Brewing’s Good Gourd. The deep color and higher ABV sets the tone for intense flavor. The bready and toasted malts give you enough of the pie crust flavor as a base before all the cinnamon, nutmeg, clove, allspice, and vanilla goodness start to take over.

Pumpkin beers are definitely intended to be pumpkin pie beers, and this one hits all the notes I want, unapologetically. Plus, they make a rum barrel-aged version that is an even more decadent treat, if you can find it.

Wasatch Pumpkin

Wasatch Pumpkin
Wasatch

Zach Fowle, advanced cicerone and head of marketing at Arizona Wilderness Brewing Co. in Phoenix, Arizona

ABV: 5%

Average Price: $10.99 for a six-pack

Why This Beer?

Wasatch Pumpkin. It’s not flashy or all that rare, but dammit, it gets the job done. The beer’s greatest feat is in its flavor transitions: Up-front spices—clove and cinnamon—fade into caramelized squash and baked bread, with lingering notes of cinnamon frosting and coffee ice cream. The sip finishes on the sweet side, melding smooth vanilla and coffee with hazelnut creamer and nutty cocoa nibs, all supported by just enough breadiness to keep things drinkable.

With clear squash character, skillfully integrated spices, supportive malts, and balance, this is everything I look for in a pumpkin beer.

Bier Brewery Pumpkin Ale

Bier Brewery Pumpkin Ale
Bier Brewery

Broc Eichhorst, brewer at Sun King Brewery in Indianapolis, Indiana

ABV: 5.4%

Average Price: Limited Availability

Why This Beer?

I’m not a big fan of pumpkin-spiced beer, however, Bier Brewery Pumpkin Ale is the best one I’ve ever had. Unlike many others, this local Indianapolis brew is not overly spiced, nor overly sweet. They really nail the pumpkin pie spice without blowing you away with cinnamon.

Cambridge The Great Pumpkin Ale

Cambridge The Great Pumpkin Ale
Cambridge

Matthew Steinberg, head brewer and co-founder of Exhibit ‘A’ Brewing in Framingham, Massachusetts

ABV: 5.5%

Average Price: $13.99 for a four-pack

Why This Beer?

Cambridge Brewing Company The Great Pumpkin Ale is a great pumpkin beer. This beer has become a must-have every fall season for me. A balance of pumpkin flavor while staying true to style makes this smooth autumn ale a classic go-to cold weather seasonal for me.

Greenport Harbor Leaf Pile

Greenport Harbor Leaf Pile
Greenport Harbor

Morgan O’Sullivan, co-owner of FlyteCo in Denver

ABV: 5.2%

Average Price: $14 for a six-pack

Why This Beer?

My favorite pumpkin beer is Leaf Pile from Greenport Harbor Brewing. It’s an amber beer at its base with a hint of autumn spices – not just a ton of pumpkin hitting your face. It’s flavorful, complex, and surprisingly well-balanced for a pumpkin ale.

Two Roads Roadsmary’s Baby

Two Roads Roadsmary's Baby
Two Roads

Rob Day, vice president of marketing for Jack’s Abby Craft Lagers in Framingham, Massachusetts

ABV: 6.8%

Average Price: $12.99 for a six-pack

Why This Beer?

I love what Two Roads is doing with Roadsmary’s Baby. They get some automatic credit for horror movie references and deliver even more with the beer. It’s made with real pumpkins and aged in rum barrels with vanilla beans. That helps it stand out among the crop for sure.

Harpoon Dunkin’ Pumpkin

Harpoon Dunkin’ Pumpkin
Harpoon

Nick Nock, founding head brewer at SweetWater Brewing Company in Atlanta

ABV: 5.2%

Average Price: $11.99 for a six-pack

Why This Beer?

A couple of years ago, Atlanta was hosting the Super Bowl, and the Patriots were playing. We AirBnB’d our house to two ladies. They walked up in jean shorts, Belichick hoodies, two big gulps of Dunkin iced coffee, carrying a 12-pack of Harpoon, arguing about something I’m sure had to do with Matt Damon. It was the most on-brand thing I had ever seen.

So, to answer your question, there aren’t many great pumpkin beers in my opinion. But if I had to pick one to drink this fall, I’d give Harpoon’s Dunkin’ Pumpkin a rip just because of those women. Pumpkins, coffee — what’s not to love?

Dogfish Head Punkin Ale

Dogfish Head Punkin Ale
Dogfish Head

Chris Spinelli, co-founder and brewer at Roc Brewing Co in Rochester, New York

ABV: 7%

Average Price: $15 for a six-pack

Why This Beer?

Pumkin Southern Tier Brewing is one of my favorite pumpkin beers. My wife and I have been buying two bottles every year since we started dating. This big bold beer holds up very well and builds in flavor over time. We have done a couple of vertical tastings with a few years’ worth of bottles and great friends. If that’s not available, you can’t go wrong with Dogfish Head’s Punkin Ale.

This brown ale, named for Delaware’s “Punkin Chunkin” contest is well-known for its brown sugar, cinnamon, and ripe pumpkin flavors.

Paddy Considine Revealed How George R. R. Martin Delivered The Official Stamp Of Approval For His King Viserys Portrayal

(House of the Dragon spoilers ahead.)

Even though his body was essentially decaying throughout the first seven episodes of House of the Dragon, Paddy Considine’s portrayal of King Viserys was spot-on. And even though his character was miserable from the get-go, Considine showed off the bizarre family dynamics that have only gotten weirder for the Targaryens.

In the most recent episode of House of the Dragon, the Targaryen family tragically lost their severely ill patriarch, and fans said goodbye to Considine’s portrayal of the king. Even though he’s left quite a mess among his family, Considine is really happy with how Viserys’ journey went… and so is George R.R. Martin!

Considine recently opened up to GQ about his role as Viserys which he described as a “joy” to play. “He was the only person in this kingdom who had any f*cking morals whatsoever,” Considine says. “He holds everything together as long as he absolutely can,” He really did hold out until the last minute there. But his character was praised by the one person who really matters: the guy who wrote the thing.

“I got a text message that simply said: ‘Your Viserys is better than my Viserys’. It was from George RR Martin,” Considine explained. “And I thought: that’ll do it. Thanks for trusting me.” Coming from someone who is genuinely opposed to hearing any type of feedback about his characters, this is a very good sign!

We will miss Viserys gracing our screens with his silly little facial expressions, but who’s to say he can’t show up at some point later on? Maybe in a flashback where he’s healthy and not picking maggots out of his flesh?

Desperate Putin’s Weekend Missile Attack On Ukraine May Have Further Depleted His Already Extremely Depleted Missile Stockpile

Russia launched several deadly attacks on Ukrainian cities in retaliation for the destruction of a Crimean bridge used to transport military supplies. However, Vladimir Putin‘s ability to follow-up with repeat attacks is becoming less of an option. Why? He’s running out of missiles. Making matters worse, Putin’s allies are demanding even more deadly strikes to stave off Ukrainian forces. Anything to make the invasion not like a total disaster, so they can stave off a revolt back in Russia.

They probably shouldn’t hold their breath. Via Forbes:

Former Russian President and close Putin-ally Dmitry Medvedev called Monday’s strikes on major Ukrainian cities only the “first episode” of Russia’s broader effort to “dismantle” Ukraine, while other lawmakers in the country also demanded “cruel” reprisals. But Russia’s ability to continue with such attacks is being questioned, with the Institute for the Study of War (ISW) noting that Monday’s attacks “wasted some of Russia’s dwindling precision weapons against civilian targets, as opposed to militarily significant targets.” In its daily assessment Tuesday, the ISW said Russia’s reliance on precision weapons to attack Ukrainian cities may weaken its ability to halt Ukrainian counter-offensive operations in Kherson and Luhansk.

Here’s the thing: Russia isn’t running out of firepower because they’re using it so much. It’s mostly being snatched up by Ukrainian forces who have been overwhelming Russian troops. According to The Wall Street Journal, Ukraine has been significantly boosting its weapons capacity thanks to its quick capture and recovery of Russian tanks and aircrafts. Adding even more insult to injury, a large portion of the military goods have been acquired thanks to Russian troops abandoning them. They practically gift-wrapped the missiles that Putin so desperately needs right now.

The Pepsi S’mores Collection Is Full Of The One Thing Cola Desperately Needs — More Sugary Sweetness

When it comes time to gather around a campfire this fall, it’s tough to beat the iconic s’more. And since we’re all about maximizing our time outdoors before the weather starts to get really cold, we were ~intrigued~ when we heard that Pepsi decided to get in on the s’more action. A few weeks back, to celebrate that last day of summer, the popular cola brand launched a new trio of sodas called Pepsi S’mores Collection.

This isn’t the first time Pepsi has decided to just get wacky with it. In the past, the brand has launched limited-edition offerings like Maple Syrup, Pepsi X PEEPS, Pepsi X Cracker Jack, and others. But instead of simply dropping a soda that tastes like s’mores, Pepsi decided to give the world three different flavors: Toasty Marshmallow, Graham Cracker, and Chocolate. Each comes in a 7.5-ounce mini-Pepsi can and is supposed to be mixed together to create a perfect s’more concoction.

These haven’t hit retail yet but you can get them by sharing an image or description of “how you s’more” on Twitter and Instagram with the #PepsiSmores hashtags. Although… you probably don’t need to go through that effort because… well, just read the review.

Pepsi S'mores
Pepsi

Price: Limited Edition

The Story:

As we mentioned before, the three flavors are Toasty Marshmallow, Graham Cracker, and Chocolate. The Toasty Marshmallow was created to taste like (you guessed it) a marshmallow that was gently toasted on a fire. Graham Cracker was created to have the subtle flavors of graham cracker, honey, and cinnamon. Chocolate is fairly self-explanatory. The one is supposed to taste like cocoa and vanilla. And while the makers of the trio want them to be mixed, we’re going to try them each on their own and rate them.

Toasty Marshmallow

Toasty Marshmallow Pepsi
Christopher Osburn

There’s not much going on with the nose. It smells like a vanilla cola. We tried but couldn’t find any other flavors. Not terribly unappealing, just no discernable toasted marshmallow aroma. That changed immediately upon taking the first sip. The best part about this soda is its subtleness. It’s clearly a toasted marshmallow-flavored cola, but it’s not over the top. There’s toasty marshmallow, vanilla, and of course classic cola flavor.

We would definitely drink this as is. It’s sweet but also interesting enough to be worth your time (and daily sugar intake).

Ranking: 8/10

Graham Cracker

Graham Cracker Pepsi
Christopher Osburn

While the Toasty Marshmallow didn’t smell like we assumed it would, this soda’s nose is loaded with an unmistakable graham cracker aroma. There’s also a slight hint of vanilla cream in there as well. Very inviting to say the least. This one is definitely sweeter and has a little more of a knockout punch of flavor than the Toasty Marshmallow. They really want you to know this is graham cracker. There’s also a little kick of cinnamon as well.

Overall, it’s a little too much though. And again, lots of sweetness.

Ranking: 4/10

Chocolate

Chocolate Pepsi
Christopher Osburn

This soda smells like a melted chocolate bar and that’s a good thing. It’s supposed to. There’s also a cola aroma behind it (also expected). We’ll give the folks at Pepsi credit, it also tastes like a melted chocolate bar mixed with a cola. That’s really the only flavor we could find. It’s very sweet though and not at all subtle. It’s not something we’d drink on the regular, but it tastes exactly as it should.

If you’ve ever craved chocolate syrup in your Pepsi, well — Mission accomplished.

Ranking: 6/10

All Three Mixed Together

Since you’re supposed to mix them together, we did just that. We mixed equal parts of all three to create a s’more cola. The aroma is a mix of cola, vanilla, and subtle graham cracker. We didn’t catch any chocolate on the nose when everything was mixed together. While there are slight notes of marshmallow and chocolate, it’s clear that graham cracker is the most dominant flavor.

And here again, it’s sweeeeeeeet. You know how having a soda AND a s’more sounds too sweet? Well, there you go.

Ranking: 6/10

Bottom Line:

If you’re a fan of over-the-top sweet, these three Pepsi flavors are definitely for you. Congrats to your dentist, who will get to put in a hot tub soon. If you’re like us and enjoy a little more subtlety, you probably don’t want to waste your time trying to get them. They’re fun but there’s nothing really special about them. Stick to cherry or vanilla Pepsi and you’ll be much happier.

Wet Leg Continue Their ‘Chaise Longue’ World Domination With A Rousing Performance On ‘Kimmel’

Wet Leg will help Florence And The Machine finish their North American headlining tour at the Hollywood Bowl this weekend, but the duo made a pitstop at Jimmy Kimmel Live on Monday (October 10) for an energized performance of their breakthrough hit “Chaise Longue.”

“On the chaise longue, all day long, on the chaise longue,” Rhian Teasdale sings in the rousing refrain, but she and Hester Chambers haven’t had time to relax since the single took off upon its summer 2021 release.

“I think it was really good with ‘Chaise Longue,’ and also making the album, because we didn’t really have any of that pressure,” Teasdale told Uproxx in January. “We were just very happily working our jobs, and so we never really thought anything of it. It put us on a really good start to enjoy it, basically. I think when you start putting pressure on yourself from the outside world, that’s when it probably becomes not so fun. And what’s the point if it’s not fun?”

Wet Leg looks to be having the most fun. They made their late-night TV debut by performing “Chaise Longue” on Late Night With Seth Meyers in December 2021 — the same month as their Tiny Desk — and have since made the rounds to The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon and The Late Late Show With James Corden.

Last month, Wet Leg took over BBC Radio 1’s Live Lounge, where they performed a cover of Steve Lacy’s No. 1 hit “Bad Habit.” Live Lounge was also where Harry Styles covered Wet Leg’s “Wet Dream.”

Wet Leg’s self-titled debut album arrived in April, followed by a slew of tour dates across North America and the UK. Their North American run is due to wrap tomorrow (October 12) in San Diego. But don’t worry. The Isle Of Wight standouts said their sophomore album is “in the bag,” so more headlining dates seem inevitable. Not to mention, they’ll be supporting Styles on his never-ending Love On Tour next spring.

For now, watch Wet Leg yet again rock “Chaise Longue” above.

Will The ‘South Park’ Creators’ New, Improved Version Of Casa Bonita Open Soon?

Casa Bonita is a legendary restaurant that happens to have been known for stressing the entertainment aspects of the “eatertainment” chain at the expense of the actual food. Other than the sopapillas, the food was barely edible, but that didn’t discourage people from loving the joint (which originated in Oklahoma City back during the late 1960s). However, every single chain location went kaput as of a few years ago, and South Park creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone (who had already shown love by including the restaurant in an episode) decided to live the dream of resurrecting their childhood.

In summer 2021, the duo (operating under “The Beautiful Opco, LLC” umbrella) purchased one solitary Casa Bonita building in Lakewood, Colorado. The dream quickly turned into a “nightmare” with the pair discovering that the building was in dangerous disrepair. They needed to bring the place up to code, and they soon started pouring (as Stone told the Denver Post) “all of our money” into the renovation. They could have quit, but they kept the quest alive to bring restaurant-bound cave-diving and waterfalls and arcade games back to life. And they pledged to do so with with actual “good food” courtesy of chef Dana Rodriguez. Let’s hope that she keeps the sopapillas intact and makes the joint a place where people love to play and eat.

Progress can’t come fast enough for fans, and here’s how the restaurant looked from the outside shortly after Parker and Stone initially pulled out their wallets.

Casa Bonita
Getty Image

From there, the famed fountain needed to be demolished, and in August 2022, the pair sued to keep construction plans private (for safety reasons), although the venue’s attorneys dropped the case with no further explanation.

A few months later, and the creators haven’t revealed a peep on a targeted reopening day. However, they’re doing putting off damn good vibes by continuing to employ the restaurant’s workers (a few dozen recipients of not only paychecks but bilingual classes on the house) while the restaurant remains closed. The workers are using this time to volunteer at Habitat for Humanity (and similar organizations) and build camaraderie, something that will doubtlessly be reflected in the final Casa Bonita product when the time comes. For now, though, know that the pink palace will return.

A few months ago, Twitter user Erich Brock also snapped a photo of a freshly pink-painted palace in the works. Lookin’ good!

Elon Musk Got In Touch With Kanye West To Express ‘Concerns’ About The Anti-Semitic Tweet

After months of uncertainty regarding the future of Twitter’s ownership, earlier this month, Elon Musk reportedly agreed to buy the social media company for the original $44-billion purchase price. Now he’s getting a jump on keeping the platform clean, as he’s apparently talked to Kanye West about a recent controversial tweet.

For context, on October 8, West was restricted from Instagram after making comments about Jewish people. So, he returned to Twitter later that day, and Musk tweeted at him, “Welcome back to Twitter, my friend!” However, Ye’s Twitter comeback was short-lived, as he quickly got suspended from that platform after a tweet in which he said he was “going death con 3 On JEWISH PEOPLE.”

In the wake of all that, Musk apparently reached out to West, as Musk tweeted yesterday (October 10), “Talked to ye today & expressed my concerns about his recent tweet, which I think he took to heart.”

It’s been a busy past week or so for West, so much so that he decided to chronicle it himself with a 30-minute documentary, titled Last Week. Among many other things, the film features some new music and a video of West in a meeting with Adidas executives, where he seemingly shows them pornography.

Another Family Member Of One Of Jeffrey Dahmer’s Victims Is Criticizing Netflix’s ‘Dahmer’

Another family member of a Jeffrey Dahmer victim has spoken out against the disturbingly popular Netflix series, Dahmer – Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story.

Shirley Hughes, the mother of Tony Hughes, who was 31 years old when he was murdered by Jeffrey Dahmer in 1991, told the Guardian that she doesn’t understand why the show was made. “I don’t see how they can do that,” she said. “I don’t see how they can use our names and put stuff out like that out there.” Hughes then politely ended the phone call, understandably finding it difficult to discuss her son’s death.

Shirley Hughes, who was teaching a Bible class in Milwaukee when her son was murdered, hasn’t spoken much in public about Tony. She learned of his killing after investigators discovered his skull in Dahmer’s apartment and identified it through dental records. But, at the time that Dahmer was charged with his killing spree, she told United Press International that she felt relief at knowing why her son had disappeared while also being shattered by the fate he met.

Rita Isbell, the sister of Dahmer’s first victim, Errol Lindsey, previously criticized Dahmer – Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story, telling Insider, “I feel like Netflix should’ve asked if we mind or how we felt about making it. They didn’t ask me anything. They just did it. But I’m not money hungry, and that’s what this show is about, Netflix trying to get paid.”
