Trevor Noah Gives Props To Mark Zuckerberg For Having ‘The Balls’ To ‘Take Down Big Tech’ By Destroying His Own Company

“Be the change you want to see in the world.” That’s the mantra Trevor Noah has attached to Mark Zuckerberg, whose belief in the metaverse that his company is creating — and has renamed itself after — is so unwavering, that he just lost about $90 BILLION to stay the course of where he believes his company is headed. And Zuck apparently can’t stop, won’t stop.

On Thursday night, after announcing that Elon Musk’s takeover of Twitter is finally official, The Daily Show host commended Zuckerberg for sticking to his guns at any cost. Meta just reported its official earnings, which are down more than 20 percent — or more than $9 billion — just this year alone. And they’re expected to lose more. But Zuck remains optimistic about the company’s future, noting in a Q3 earnings call that “people are going to look back on decades from now and talk about the importance of the work that was done here.” Which all sounds a little grandiose.

CNBC noted that Zuckerberg took a personal hit of about $85 billion for the year, which knocked him down the list of the World’s Richest People from the No. 3 spot to No. 26 or 27. “If the man was capable of feeling human emotion, right now he’d be stressed as hell,” Noah said. Still, he does have some admiration for the Facebook co-founder: “Kudos Mark Zuckerberg. A lot of people have been talking about taking down Big Tech for a while. But he’s the only one with the balls to do it to his own company.”

You can watch the full clip above, beginning around the 8:40 mark.

What Did Keanu Reeves Ever Do To Matthew Perry?

Matthew Perry kicked off an internet firestorm after taking a dark and awkward swipe at Keanu Reeves in his new memoir Friends, Lovers and the Big Terrible Thing. While reminiscing about the death of River Phoenix, who Perry became friends with while filming the 1988 film, A Night in the Life of Jimmy Reardon, the Friends star seemed to be angered by that Reeves is still alive. Like we said, it got pretty dark.

“Why is it that the original thinkers like River Phoenix and Heath Ledger die, but Keanu Reeves still walks among us?” Perry wrote via Page Six. He then made the remark again after sharing his reaction to the death of Chris Farley. “I punched a hole through Jennifer Aniston’s dressing room wall when I found out,” Perry wrote. “Keanu Reeves walks among us.”

With Perry’s passages out in the wild, TV’s Chandler Bing soon learned that there’s an enormous amount of love for Keanu Reeves, and Perry issued a bizarre explanation for the seemingly out-of-nowhere Keanu hate. Via Deadline:

“I’m actually a big fan of Keanu,” Perry’s statement reads. “I just chose a random name, my mistake. I apologize. I should have used my own name instead.”

However, there has been speculation that suggests Perry’s swipes at Reeves were not “random.” One school of thought is that Perry was jealous of Reeves’ professional success and/or his own friendship with Phoenix before his death. Another theory is that Perry’s humor is still trapped in the ’90s when joking about Reeves’ acting abilities happened all of the time. Keanu is revered now, but it was not uncommon to mock the Bill & Ted actor even after The Matrix made him a massive star.

As for the real explanation, until we hear from Reeves or other sources, all we have is speculation and Perry’s claim that it was a random mistake.

Weyes Blood Crashes Her Car In The Trippy ‘Grapevine’ Video

Weyes Blood‘s new album And In The Darkness, Hearts Aglow is set to arrive next month. So far, she’s unveiled the singles “It’s Not Just Me, It’s Everybody” and “Grapevine.” She’s back today with a video for the latter.

In the video, she brings to life the line, “My car broke down / In an old ghost town right around / Where they got James Dean.” She sings by a crashed car in a dark landscape, and gradually everything becomes more warped and disoriented, blurring into a weird world.

Upon the release of the song, the singer explained, “‘Grapevine’ is a road song set along the titular stretch of Southern California’s Interstate 5. Technology is harvesting our attention away from each other. We all have a ‘Grapevine’ entwined around our past with unresolved wounds and pain. Being in love doesn’t necessarily mean being together. Why else do so many love songs yearn for a connection?”

Along with this anticipated release of this album, Weyes Blood also collaborated with the one and only John Cale for the song “Story Of Blood” from his forthcoming LP Mercy, which also features Animal Collective, Sylvan Esso, Laurel Halo, Tei Shi, and Actress.

Jack Harlow Got Accidentally Incestual Trying To Shoot His Shot With Cecily Strong In A New ‘SNL’ Promo

Jack Harlow is checking in for duty — double duty, that is! Tomorrow night, Harlow follows in the footsteps of Megan Thee Stallion in appearing both as the host and musical guest on Saturday Night Live, joining a short list of musicians to hold this honor.

The “First Class” rapper isn’t the only person making history with their appearance on the show. Actress, comedian, and longtime cast member Cecily Strong is also returning after stepping away to star in the play The Search For Signs Of Intelligent Life In The Universe. In a new promotional clip, the pair awkwardly flirts as they find themselves caught in an incestuous joke. This wouldn’t be the first time Harlow’s seemingly romantic pursuits bombed on camera; if you recall his brushing with “ICY GRL” rapper Saweetie at the 2021 BET Awards.

While Harlow has already proven his hosting chops earlier this month on The Tonight Show alongside Jimmy Fallon, he took to Twitter to share SNL‘s announcement with the deep exhale emoji.

It is unclear whether or not this post was a cryptic message to display his nerves, but what we do know is viewers are in for a treat. Harlow’s charismatic personality and keen sense of humor should make for a must-watch episode.

Jack Harlow is a Warner Music artist. Uproxx is an independent subsidiary of Warner Music Group.

Valerie Bertinelli Is Not Enjoying The Fallout After Matthew Perry Claimed That They Made Out Next To The Passed-Out Eddie Van Halen

Matthew Perry has been stirring up drama over his memoir for the past week. In various excerpts from his new book, he revealed that he has something against Keanu Reeves, talked a moderate amount of smack about Cameron Diaz, and then claimed that he had once made out with then-costar Valerie Bertinelli while she was married. It’s been a wild week!

Then, yesterday, Bertinelli seemingly responded to Perry’s claims by hopping on a TikTok trend, which is how you respond to said things these days. The actress uploaded a clip featuring Taylor Swift’s “Anti-Hero” with the caption “Anyone else misbehave in their 20’s and early 30’s? Are you mortified?” The audio features the lyrics “It’s me, Hi/ I’m the problem it’s me.” While she doesn’t explicitly mention Perry, her reaction is enough.

After the clip went viral, Bertinelli went on Instagram to rant about being followed by paparazzi. “I just had a single paparazzi waiting outside my therapist’s office for me to come out and ask me stupid questions,” the actress said while laughing. “Ya’ll are weird!” Unfortunately, it got worse. “This is insane. I went to get my nails done and this van keeps following me,” Bertinelli said on her Instagram stories.

She added, “It’s been a long time since I’ve been followed by paparazzi, I mean, look at me! This is what I’m wearing. Who the f*ck cares.” Bertinelli then shared a picture of her wearing a band t-shirt and sweatpants. “Seriously good luck trying to sell a picture where this is what I look like.”

Bertinelli was a huge star in the late ’80s and early ’90s, so she is no stranger to the paparazzi. Still, this is all because Perry decided to share a seemingly harmless little tidbit about his past. Maybe he should have asked her first?

Of Course Mike Lindell Was Willing To Let Lara Logan Spew Her Deranged Nonsense About Elites Drinking The Blood Of Children On His Show

It was only a matter of time before we heard from batsh*t Lara Logan again — the big question was: Which network would be brazen enough to allow her to puke up her bonkers conspiracy theories? On Thursday, we got our answer when the once-respected former 60 Minutes correspondent showed up on Mike Lindell’s Frank Speech network on Thursday night, just one week after Newsmax announced that it was banning her from its airwaves.

Earlier this month, Logan — who was fired by Fox just about a year ago for sharing her deranged ideas about the world around her — was a guest on Eric Bolling’s Newsmax show, where she shared that, “The open border is Satan’s way of taking control of the world through all of these people who are his stooges and his servants” and claimed that the global elites “want us eating insects [and] cockroaches… while they dine on the blood of children.”

It was a record-scratch moment for sure, and one that left Newsmax with no choice but to condemn Logan and promise that she would never be invited on the network again. But, as Mediaite reports, Lindell was happy to extend an invite to Logan. On Thursday, she spoke with fellow ex-Newsmaxer Emerald Robinson, who was also given the boot by Newsmax for spreading dangerous conspiracy theories, and didn’t miss a beat from where she had left off on Newsmax. Yet again, Logan claimed that America is a hotbed of child sex trafficking, where the country’s leaders — led by Joe Biden — drink the blood of children, and possibly babies, as an anti-aging agent. As Logan explained:

The reason I believe that people reacted that way is it’s all about the children. The question they don’t want us asking is where are all the missing children?

What happens to these children? How can hundreds of thousands of kids go missing in the United States every year and nobody knows where they are? They just vanish? I don’t think so. Every sex trafficking ring worldwide knows, bring the kids to the United States that this administration is participating in the trafficking of kids. They’re paying companies, LLCs and non-profits and church groups. They’re paying them to take these kids and disappear them.

Logan, of course, offered no proof to back up her claims. But considering that this is the network of Mike Lindell, that hardly seems relevant.

A Taylor Swift Song Just Had One Of The Biggest Streaming Weeks In Spotify History

Taylor Swift’s Midnights has been out for a week now, which means it’s time for chart results to start coming in. We still have a couple days of waiting to see where the album will place on the Billboard 200 and where its songs will debut on the Hot 100, but Spotify’s weekly data is out now. On it, Swift dominated: “Anti-Hero” had about 82.9 million streams on the platform, easily the most of any song this week. Pop Crave notes this is the third-biggest week ever for a song on the platform, behind Adele’s “Easy On Me” (84.9 million streams) and Olivia Rodrigo’s “Good 4 U” (84.1 million).

Similarly impressive is how Midnights has dominated the weekly chart overall: 13 of the top 14 songs are from the album. “Anti-Hero” is No. 1, “Lavender Haze” is No. 2, “Snow On The Beach” is No. 3, “Midnight Rain” is No. 4, “Maroon” is No. 5, “You’re On Your Own, Kid” is No. 6, “Karma” is No. 8, “Vigilante Sh*t” is No. 9, “Question…?” is No. 10, “Bejeweled” is No. 11, “Labyrinth” is No. 12, “Mastermind” is No. 13, and “Sweet Nothing” is No. 14. Interrupting the streak at No. 7 is Sam Smith and Kim Petras’ “Unholy.”

While Billboard chart data remains to be seen, some estimates indicate Swift will actually occupy all spots on the Hot 100 top 10 next week. That would be the first time that’s ever happened, so that’s a situation worth keeping an eye on in the coming days.

Stephen Colbert Would Like To See Roy Wood Jr. As The Next Host Of ‘The Daily Show’

The Daily Show is considering pulling a Jeopardy! and replacing Trevor Noah, who will step down on December 8, with multiple hosts. But someone who knows the inner-workings of the Comedy Central series as well as anyone not named Jon Stewart or Trevor Noah (or, uh, Craig Kilborn) has another idea: hire Roy Wood Jr., you cowards.

Appearing on Thursday’s episode of Hell of a Week with Charlamagne Tha God, Stephen Colbert was asked to predict the next host of The Daily Show. “I like Roy Wood Jr.,” he said after joking that Jon Stewart only does 10 episodes of The Problem with Jon Stewart a year so he’s probably available. Colbert also thought Jessica Williams would be “great,” and while Amber Ruffin would be a fun choice, she’s got a “good gig” already. He specified that he only thought of people who don’t already have a nightly show.

Along those lines, Colbert discussed the lack of diversity in late-night TV. It’s one of the reasons why he agreed to executive produce Hell of a Week. “You used to come on my show,” he told Charlamagne Tha God (who, like Colbert, grew up in South Carolina), “and you were a great guest. The audience loved you. You had a different perspective. You’re honest. You’re shocking. You don’t mind upsetting people. You’re funny.”

You can watch clips from the episode below.

Michael J. Fox Shared The Blunt Acting Advice He Once Gave River Phoenix On ‘Family Ties’

Michael J. Fox has opened up about the acting advice he gave River Phoenix when the late actor starred on an episode of Family Ties early in his career. According to Fox, Phoenix had a palpable hunger as an actor, but he was noticeably struggling with a particular scene.

“I said, ‘Look at this kid working. This kid is taking this 10 ways from Sunday and he is really coming at it’ … I mean, kids don’t act like this,” Fox recalled. “He really knew how to be an actor but he was struggling on this one scene.”

Realizing he should step in, Fox offered Phoenix some helpful advice that led to a deep friendship built on kindness. Via PEOPLE:

“So I went up to him and I said, ‘What’s the problem?’ And he said, ‘I feel like a d—,’” Fox recalls. “And I said, ‘You feel like a d—? Why?’ He said, ‘I feel goofy, I feel like a d—.’ And I said, ‘Welcome to the business. That’s it. That’s the highest level of accomplishment you’ll get is to feel like a d—.’ It’s stupid. It’s a stupid thing to do for a living.”

Fox continued, “We pretend we’re other people for a living. We use things that we’re not really using and we eat things that we’re not really eating and we stand in a place because the light’s better there and it’s all goofy, but if you stick with it, you can find a way to tell a story that other people can’t.”

The advice worked and Phoenix’s career took off like a rocket. While filming Doc Hollywood in Florida, Fox recalled that Phoenix would make it a point to come “scoop him up” and bring him to his nearby place for a barbecue.

“It’s funny because that was an act of kindness that was built on an act of kindness,” Fox said.
