Dolly Parton Is Working On A Rock And Roll Album That Will Feature ‘A Lot Of The Icons’ Singing With Her

Earlier this year, Dolly Parton sparked a conversation when she rejected her Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame nomination: “Even though I am extremely flattered and grateful to be nominated for the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, I don’t feel that I have earned that right,” she stated. She ended up changing her mind and accepting it, but in her rejection statement, she also mentioned the desire to put out a rock album. It looks like that’s finally coming to fruition.

At the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame 2022 induction ceremony last night (November 5), Parton told a reporter about the reason she rejected the nomination and then changed her mind, and she also shared that she’s working on a rock album. “I said, ‘Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame?! Me?!’ I thought, Well, I don’t know if I deserve to be in the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame, because I never thought of myself as a rocker,” she said. “But I’ve always loved rock and roll. My husband’s a huge rock fan. I just thought that the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame was for the rockers of the world. But anyway, when I found out it was a little more than that — just the fact that I’ve influenced people with my music — and I said, if they put me in, I would accept it gracefully. And I’m here and I will and I’m honored.”

She continued, “Well, I’m excited, I’m doing a rock and roll album. I thought, Well, the time is right. Timing’s everything. I had always thought I might do one, but I hadn’t thought about doing it right now. But I thought, Well, why not right now, with all the hoopla and all the craziness that went on around this? So I’m gonna do it. I’m gonna do a lot of classic songs. I’ve written a few rock songs, and I’m gonna have a lot of the icons sing with me.”

According to Billboard and Rolling Stone, Parton debuted a track titled “Rockin’” from the upcoming album alongside Zac Brown Band during the ceremony. The country icon was one of seven performers inducted at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles. The others were Carly Simon, Duran Duran, Eminem, Eurythmics, Lionel Richie, and Pat Benatar.

Olivia Rodrigo Covers Carly Simon’s ‘You’re So Vain’ At The Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame Induction Ceremony

Olivia Rodrigo is all for honoring the musicians who paved the way for her. The 19-year-old pop phenom helped induct Alanis Morissette into the Canadian Songwriters Hall Of Fame in September, and Rodrigo popped by Madison Square Garden in August to perform with Billy Joel. The streak continued Saturday (November 5) at Los Angeles’ Microsoft Theater for the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame 2022 induction ceremony.

The 2022 class in the performers category was filled by Carly Simon, Dolly Parton, Duran Duran, Eminem, Eurythmics, Lionel Richie, and Pat Benatar. Simon didn’t attend the ceremony — two of her sisters tragically passed one day apart from cancer in late October — so Sara Bareilles was on hand to accept Simon’s induction on her behalf and performed “Nobody Does It Better.” Rodrigo doubled down on the Simon celebration by taking the stage to give a pitch-perfect rendition of “You’re So Vain.”

Another fan captured a portion of Simon’s induction video that featured Taylor Swift gushing over Simon’s songwriting. “When I heard ‘That’s So Vain,’ I just thought that is the best song that has ever been written,” the Midnights mastermind said. “That is the most direct way anyone has ever addressed a breakup. It’s amazing.”

“You’re So Vain” and “Nobody Does It Better” peaked at No. 1s and 2 on Billboard‘s Hot 100, respectively — the highest-charting singles of her storied career. As noted by Rolling Stone, Rodrigo and Simon won Best New Artist at the Grammys exactly 50 years apart — Simon earned it in 1972, and Rodrigo won this April.

An edited version of this year’s Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame induction ceremony will be available on HBO beginning November 19.

What Is Metro Boomin’s New ‘Heroes & Villains’ Release Date?

In a parallel universe, we’re already listening to Heroes & Villains, Metro Boomin’s sophomore solo album and followup to his 2018 platinum-certified album Not All Heroes Wear Capes. The prolific producer announced the project in September with a trailer. “I do it for Ms. Leslie,” he wrote on Instagram, referencing his mother who was tragically killed in June. The initial release date for Heroes & Villains was November 4, but it was pushed back in late October.

“I couldn’t get all the samples on my album cleared in time for next week so I’m dropping on Dec 2nd now so I have enough time to make sure you all get this masterpiece we intended,” Metro Boomin tweeted on October 26. “I promise it’s worth the wait!! P.S. I would NEVER move my album date because of anyone else.”

The last sentence is pretty easily presumed to be about Drake and 21 Savage dropping their collaborative Her Loss album on November 4. (Metro Boomin is no stranger to making joint album with Savage.) A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie contrastingly admitted to pushing his Me Vs. Myself album into December to avoid competing with Her Loss.

Expectations are high for Heroes & Villains regardless of arrival time. Not All Heroes Wear Capes spent 60 weeks charting on the Billboard 200, peaking at No. 1, and his 2020 Savage Mode II collaborative album with 21 Savage also peaked at No. 1.

Heroes & Villains is out 12/2 via Boominati Worldwide and Republic. Pre-order it here.

And that’s so rare. I love her process and I just admire all the work that she’s done. She’s definitely inspired me.”

Gomez also touched on her past relationship with Justin Bieber in her documentary, streaming now on Apple TV+. “I feel like I had to go through the worst possible heartbreak ever and then just forgetting everything at the drop of the hand, it was really confusing,” she said. “But I just think that needed to happen, and ultimately, it was the best thing that ever happened to me.”

Steve Lacy Delivers An Intimate Performance Of ‘Helmet’ On ‘SNL’

In his second Saturday Night Live performance of the night, Steve Lacy shined as he sang Gemini Rights fan favorite, “Helmet.” Lyrically, the song features Lacy guarding his heart after a break-up, not letting his ex back into his life.

“All that I can be is me and all me / Time to get out, I don’t want you around / All that I can see is you without me / No, I can’t scold you, however,” he sings on the track.

On the bridge, he lets his ex know that their old tricks won’t work anymore, singing, “You were so automatic / so you know I had to have it / But lovin’ you was a hazard / So I got my heart a helmet.”

As he performed, Lacy jammed on his guitar, as purple light radiated around him. Like he did during his performance of “Bad Habit” earlier in the night, Lacy jumped and bounced to the beat, as he sang of a very relatable phenomenon.

In a recent interview with Billboard, Lacy shared that he’s all too familiar with exes trying to get back in his life as soon as they sense he’s doing well.

“I feel like for some reason, [your ex] can energetically feel when you’re done with the album,” he said, “and then they come right back. There was a moment right after I finished, we tried again, and it didn’t work. So I was like, ‘Cool, I’m done. For real, I’m done this time.’ But they be feeling that sh*t.”

Steve Lacy Grooves On The ‘SNL’ Stage For A Performance Of ‘Bad Habit’

On his Saturday Night Live debut, Steve Lacy brought his breakthrough hit, “Bad Habit” to the stage. Since its release, the song has become a viral hit on TikTok, and has been used in over 500,000 clips. The Gemini Rights standout track has also reached No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100.

During his performance of “Bad Habit,” Lacy wore large black sunglasses, and he and his backing band wore white shirts with black S’s on them, paying homage to Dead Kennedys. He showed off his guitar chops for much of the performance, and then, during the bridge, he danced smoothly to the beat of the song. In the background is an arrangement of arrows, designed to resemble devil horns and represent the duality of the astrological sign, Gemini.

In a recent interview with Rolling Stone, Lacy revealed that he didn’t expect for “Bad Habit” to blow up the way that it did.

“I just knew it was fun,” Lacy said. “I knew I liked it…I don’t even have that brain. I’m just making stuff constantly, and I’m always chasing that feeling of loving an idea. And I’m really harsh. I had, like, 250 ideas for the album, but I always knew I wanted 10 [songs].”

Hilary Duff Made A Heartbreaking Tribute To Aaron Carter Following His Death, Who Her ‘Teenage Self’ Loved Deeply

Following the tragic death of Aaron Carter, Hilary Duff has taken to Instagram to honor the singer, actor, and child star. Back in 2001, Carter made a special guest appearance as himself on a Christmas episode of Duff’s breakthrough Disney Channel show, Lizzie McGuire. The two were later romantically linked for a short time throughout the 2000s.

In her post, Duff shared her condolences, while also remembering Carter fondly.

“I’m deeply sorry that life was so hard for you and that life was so hard for you and that you had to struggle in front of the whole world,” she said. “You had a charm that was absolutely effervescent … boy did my teenage self love you deeply. Sending love to your family at this time.”

Carter was outspoken on his love for Duff, despite being in a very public love triangle between her and Lohan when they were teenagers. In a 2014 interview with Entertainment Tonight, Carter revealed that he regretted losing Duff, and very much wanted to make things right with her.

“I don’t know who she is today, she doesn’t know who I am today, but I would sweep her off her feet if I ever got a chance to again and fix what I did wrong,”

Report: The Nets Told Kyrie Irving What He Needs To Do Before He Can Return From His Suspension

Kyrie Irving is currently serving a suspension handed down by the Brooklyn Nets for his repeated refusal to disavow antisemitism and an antisemitic documentary that he previously shared on his Twitter account — the team’s exact wording was that “he is currently unfit to be associated with the Brooklyn Nets.” While Irving is guaranteed to miss five games, there is no exact date for when he can return.

It begs the question: What would the Nets want to see out of Irving before he is able to get back onto the floor? According to multiple media reports — first by Vincent Goodwill of Yahoo Sports and then by Shams Charania of The Athletic — the team presented Irving with a collection of actions he needs to complete, which includes an apology where he condemns the movie, donating money, and going through a number of courses and meetings, which includes a sit-down with Nets owner Joe Tsai.

As Goodwill noted, Irving would need to show at the meeting that “this type of behavior will not occur again this season.” After he was suspended, Irving offered up an attempt at an apology on his Instagram, but it is worth noting that he said there were parts of the documentary that he agreed with in his statement. Prior to the, the Nets announced that Irving would donate money to the Anti-Defamation League, but in the aftermath of the suspension, the ADL announced it would not accept his money.

Post Malone Was Visibly Shocked After Hearing Insults From Hecklers

Post Malone’s “Twelve Carat” tour hasn’t been a smooth ride. Over the course of the past few months, the “Cooped Up” rapper fell through a hole on stage at a venue in St. Louis. Shortly after, he was hospitalized after having a hard time breathing. He also twisted his ankle during an Atlanta show.

To quite literally add insult to injury, Post Malone had to deal with hecklers as he was meeting fans in a video shared online today.

In a video, Post is seen meeting with a large group of fans. While they are elated to see him, and vice-versa, a couple of kids couldn’t help but hurl insults his way.

“Post Malone,” says one kid in the clip. “You a b*tch.”

Post is then seen, visibly shocked and dismayed by the kid’s words.

“You suck,” the person recording the video continues.

Post then says, “that’s rude.”

Relentlessly, the kid continues, saying, “You a b*tch, you a b*tch, Post Malone sucks.”

Since the video has been shared, fans have shared their support for Malone.

“Bruh he genuinely seems like one of the nicest ppl ever u need to leave this man alone,” said one Twitter user.

“he’s literally one of the sweetest and unproblematic rappers and yet people still do sh*ts like this to him look at his face wtf get behind me posty,” said another.
