Florence Pugh Seems To Be Trying To Lower The ‘Don’t Worry Darling’ Drama With A Loving Post About Everyone, Especially ‘Bloody Cute’ Chris Pine

Don’t Worry Darling isn’t even coming out for a couple more weeks, but it’s already been a rollercoaster ride. The last few weeks have seen Olivia Wilde’s directorial follow-up to Booksmart go from hotly anticipated awards season release with a hot trailer to a tabloid factory. The drama seemed to peak during its Venice Film Festival premiere, where things got so tense that people thought — incorrectly, it seems! — that Harry Styles spat on co-star Chris Pine. But now it seems at least one of them is trying to lower the temperature.

On Wednesday, Florence Pugh, who stars in the film as a 1950s housewife, posted a loving ode to the film and its cast and crew on Instagram. “I’m still taking it all in! Qwoaaar. What a moment this was?” she wrote innocently, as though nothing had gone awry. She also gushed about going to the Venice Film Festival for the first time, but then made sure to offer blanket praise to her coworkers. “And to all the cast and crew as well who helped to make this movie, thank you for all of your hard work. We genuinely wouldn’t have been there without your talent and we appreciate it hugely.”

Pugh even singled out one cast member in particular.:“I also just can’t help but post how bloody cute and hilarious Chris Pine is for being the no.1 photographer, getting down on white pressed trousered knees for angles.. now that’s dedication. Love you Chrissy.”

Pugh has been a key part of the film’s drama, with claims that she may have had a fallen out with Wilde somewhere during the shoot. Pugh didn’t even show up at the awkward press conference, and she can’t attend its New York premiere (for a good reason). This post either contradicted some of the rumors that have befallen the film or simply put a happy face on the insanity. Wherever the truth lies, it’s another ambiguous chapter to a movie that’s inexplicably become the most scandalous movie of the fall.

Don’t Worry Darling this theaters on September 23.

John Boyega Doesn’t Think The Next James Bond Will Be Black

At this point, there’s a searing amount of public attention on not only who the next James Bond will be, but whether or not the super spy will be played by a Black actor. Daniel Craig has said goodbye to the role as definitively as possible, and there’s a non-zero amount of public pressure to give someone non-white a chance to hoist a martini and license to kill after over a half-century of films. Betting sites (presumably coming up with their odds using entrails and divining rods) place Henry Cavill and Rege-Jean Page at the top of the casting list, with names like Idris Elba and Tom Hardy persisting.

The point is that it’s possible the next Bond will be Black, and if that happens, it’ll be a surprise to John Boyega.

“When you’re Black, I don’t know how that goes,” he told Josh Horowitz on the Happy, Sad, Confused podcast. “Look man, you as a white man who grew up in a society with Bond as a white man, that’s normal to you. Even the mention of a Black Bond to me is like, ‘Oh, Okay.’ I’m just here like, ‘Okay, I don’t necessarily believe that, but if that’s what they’re doing then okay.’ That’s very surprising to me, but as an actor you just kind of stay out of that conversation. If it’s for you, then maybe then. But if it’s not, then you enjoy it in a movie theater like everybody else.”

No doubt that opinion is guided partially by Boyega’s own well-documented experience with racism in fandom. It’s also the pragmatic view. At the end of the day, Amazon-owned MGM and Barbara Broccoli could announce Cavill as Bond tomorrow, and the franchise would chug along as it always has without much (if any) blowback.

At the risk of adding to the entrails and divining rods, he’s also not talking like an actor who’s actively in the running for the role. But who knows? Maybe there are more surprises around the corner for Bond, James Bond.

Mom hilariously tries to recreate TikTok dances in her kitchen

Mindlessly scrolling through TikTok can land you on some pretty interesting videos, including some that seem impossible. People upload all kinds of things to the platform, anywhere from rants about real versus fake grass to showing off their crazy amazing talent. For one mom on TikTok, watching other people exude rhythm while joining the latest dance craze was no longer good enough so she decided to join them. Yep, your everyday suburban mom with four kids and a knack for making sound effects decided to put down the toddler and shake her hips to the beat. It’s hilarious.

Molly the Mom seems to be able to make just about any dance funny, even though she’s actually doing pretty well. Her dance moves coupled with the sound effects, because she never uses the actual music, is bound to lighten anyone’s mood. The best part, she finishes these dance attempts with a tiny hop and kick to essentially signify the end of the dance. But she’s not always alone. Her husband has joined several videos to help Molly attempt couple challenges, which are just as hilarious as the dance videos.

@mollythemom

I get it @Millon DC: @alexander.w.t #mollysmoves

The dancing mom has more than 690,000 followers and 17 million likes. Her comments section is filled with people telling her she nailed the dance she was attempting and telling her that her videos are the highlight of their day. Molly also fields compliments and questions around her uncanny resemblance to Amy Adams, so she changed her name on TikTok to “Walmart Amy Adams” to give people a chuckle.

@mollythemom

Make me a grill. #mollysmoves

Hey, if Amy Adams can pick up a dance as quickly as Molly while having a blast and making people laugh then maybe she has a shot at Molly’s crown on TikTok. A good laugh can change anyone’s mood so hopefully a peek at Molly’s content will put a smile on your face.

College student uses adorable TikTok videos to shine a light on life with ADHD

Creating TikToks might be the number one hobby of choice for many twenty-somethings. But for Olivia Lutfallah, it’s talking about ADHD. Actually, she’s combined both—offering videos that shine a light on the disorder in a fun, compassionate and educational way.

She took the decision to create an ADHD-specific TikTok right before the start of her second semester, and originally it was for pure recreation. “I thought it would be fun to talk about ADHD. I mean, I’ve had like 20 years of coping experiences. It’s something I absolutely love doing,” Lutfallah shared with Upworthy. That pastime has quickly grown into a deeper purpose.

Lutfallah, who was diagnosed with ADHD when she was around 7 years old, has dealt with a number of challenges with being misunderstood, especially when it came to getting necessary accommodations in school.

She recalled having a physics teacher who wouldn’t allow her to get extra time to turn in work because she had the “highest grade in her class.” Having failed to see that ADHD affected Lutfallah’s “ability to go from the beginning of a task to the end of it” rather than her IQ, she thought she’d try to explain it another way. The next day she arrived in class with a note that read “ADHD stands for attention deficit hyperactive disorder.”

“And she said, ‘well, I’m a teacher. I took these courses. I know what that stands for’. And I said, ‘I know you think you know what that stands for, but I don’t think you know what it means,’” Lutfallah shared. That statement finally clicked with the teacher, who apologized and told her, “Thank you for educating me. So I don’t make that mistake again.”

With the intent to educate even more people, as well as empower others with ADHD to use their voice, Lutfallah has filled her channel with entertaining yet informative videos that offer one of three things—tips for dealing with ADHD, simple insights into the disorder and lighthearted, relatable ADHD content.

Here’s a small sampling:

@olivialutfallah I know im not the only one … #fyp #fypシ #foryoupage #adhd #adhdtiktok ♬ original sound – Olivia Lutfallah

Some of her most popular clips are the ADHD simulators, where viewers get to really witness how those with ADHD experience the world. To put it simply—it’s a lot of noise to deal with.

Below is an example of just how many distractions can pop up within only one minute of trying to make lunch. It paints such a clear picture of the difficulties those with ADHD face when trying to focus on everyday tasks.

@olivialutfallah This is just 1 minute of what I experience everyday as a person with adhd. #fyp #fypシ #foryoupage #adhd #adhdtiktok ♬ original sound – Olivia Lutfallah

“By the end of it, I had watered the flowers, not put away all the groceries, didn’t eat and left to go and get ready for a meeting, you know? Just because there’s so many different things going on,” she shared.

Lutfallah bridges the gap between folks who are neurotypical and those who are neurodivergent in such fun ways that it’s no surprise her channel already has more than 200,000 followers. It’s clear from the comments that it is really serving a need. Attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder can be a difficult thing to explain or understand. Symptoms can be quite general—such as lack of focus or impulsivity—and indicative of other conditions, often leading to misdiagnosis.

And even with a proper diagnosis, there is still a lot of stigma surrounding the condition, primarily due to misinformation. People might be labeled as bad students or workers, being mentally defective or perhaps worst of all, as having an imaginary condition that’s completely made up.

“It’s overwhelming and suffocating to understand what you’re feeling, but not be able to express it to others,” Lutfallah explained. That’s why her ultimate goal is to inspire “a little compassion.”

You can find even more videos on Lutfallah’s TikTok.

You Won’t See Eva Mendes Acting In Anything Any Time Soon

Other than a small role as a stage performer in Ryan Gosling‘s directorial debut Lost River, the last time Eva Mendes graced the big screen was in The Place Beyond the Pines ten years ago. Apprently she’s totally fine with retirement.

“I don’t really miss it,” Mendes told Variety, explaining that she quit because she was tired of scrounging for quality roles. Shortly after The Place Beyond the Pines, she and Gosling had two children. “I thought, ‘Oh, this is what I’m supposed to do right now,’” she added. True to form, Mendes lived every parents’ dream by providing a voice for an episode of Bluey last year. Beyond that, she isn’t keen to jump back into show business, but she also hasn’t shut the door entirely.

“There are more opportunities for Latina actresses now, but when I bowed out 10 years ago I wasn’t being offered things that weren’t specifically Latina,” Mendes said. “It is exciting that things are different now, so who knows what I will do in the future. But right now, I’m keeping it in the home with my kids.”

This is on top of her comments earlier this summer, stating that she’d return to acting for the right project, but wouldn’t do anything involving violence or sex. That leaves a glorious return to the Fast & Furious franchise off the table at least. Still, with all these reports about whether Mendes will come out of retirement, it feels a little like Mendes is planning on coming out of retirement. If not, her comments still confirm that hanging out with Ryan Gosling isn’t such a bad deal.

The Jodie Comer Thriller ‘The End We Start From’ Scores Benedict Cumberbatch And Mark Strong

After his production company SunnyMarch got the right to Megan Hunter’s novel earlier this year, Benedict Cumberbatch has officially joined the cast of The End We Start From. The thriller stars Jodie Comer as a woman who gives birth as London is flooded, forcing her family to seek a series of refuges from the apocalyptic natural disaster. The film promises to be “a powerful hopeful story about the trials and joys of new motherhood in the midst of devastating floods that swallow up the city of London.”

Cumberbatch isn’t alone. Mark Strong is also joining the cast alongside Katherine Waterston, who was announced earlier this summer.

Directed by Mahalia Belo making her feature film debut and written by BAFTA-nominated Alice Birch (Lady Macbeth, Succession), the film has already launched production in London. Belo’s short film Volume, a twisty drama about a missing girl, won a British Independent Film Award and screened at Sundance.

Hunter’s book is stark and sparse, focusing on the challenges of raising the child as the world collapses in the background. It will be interesting to see how the film pulls that focus and delivers us a post-partum climate crisis. At any rate, getting Cumberbatch and Strong in the cast can’t hurt.

Dry Cleaning Shows Family Drama Through The Story Of A Tortoise In Their Emotional New Single ‘Gary Ashby’

Dry Cleaning is back with the third single from their forthcoming album Stumpwork, namely the emotional rollercoaster titled “Gary Ashby.” The melodic pop record tells the story of a lost tortoise, showing how being so consumed by tension can allow something people really care about to fall through the cracks.

Stumpwork, preceded by the singles “Don’t Press Me,” “Anna Calls From The Arctic,” and the aforementioned “Gary Ashby,” is set to release on October 21. The LP arrives in the aftermath of two major losses for band members: bassist Lewis Maynard’s mother and guitarist Tom Dowse’s grandfather. “It’s of course devastating to lose close family members but their legacy in Dry Cleaning is wholly positive,” Dowse said about the losses. “The moments in the songs which are upbeat and joyful made me think of them both the most.”

Dry Cleaning is also preparing to embark on a worldwide headlining tour in conjunction with the album’s release, beginning on September 17 in Solana Beach, California, and finishing up in Antwerp, Belgium on April 1 in 2023. Tickets go on sale Wednesday, September 14, though there is a special fan presale beginning on Friday, September 9 for those subscribed to the Dry Cleaning mailing list.

Tony Khan Has Vacated The AEW And Trios Championship After The Brawl After All Out

For the second time in less than a year, CM Punk has been forced to vacate the AEW heavyweight championship, and less than a week after winning the inaugural trios championship, those belts have been vacated as well in the aftermath of Sunday’s All Out show.

Punk returned mere weeks ago for his first two matches since winning the AEW world championship over Adam “Hangman” Page at Double or Nothing in June. Days after his win over Page, he was forced to relinquish the belt after suffering a foot injury. Jon Moxley stepped in to his place to run the show as the “interim” champion, winning a tournament that culminated at Forbidden Door and eventually beating Punk for the undisputed belt.

Punk hit the post-show press conference after winning the belt and immediately launch into a tirade against the EVPs of the show amid allegations he was responsible for sending former friend Colt Cabana to Ring of Honor. Punk and his longtime friend Ace Steel then allegedly brawled with the Bucks and Omega backstage.

In the aftermath of the alleged explosive altercation on Sunday night backstage at AEW All Out, every person involved has reportedly been suspended, according to Justin Barrasso from Sports Illustrated. According to the report, by the end of Wednesday, current AEW heavyweight champion CM Punk and his longtime friend Ace Steel will either join Kenny Omega, Nick and Matt Jackson, Pat Buck, Christopher Daniels, Michal Nakazawa, and Brandon Cutler, in being suspended or they will no longer be with the company. This comes after Punk reportedly met with Tony Khan on Tuesday.

In their place, Death Triangle will face off against Best Friends and Orange Cassidy trios championship on Wednesday night. The episode of Dynamite also kicked off the AEW Grand Slam Tournament of Champions, with Hangman Page, Bryan Danielson, Sammy Guevara, Chris Jericho, Darby Allin, and Jon Moxley all competing to win the promotion’s top crown (with the bracket below).

That tournament will end in two weeks on Dynamite and answers the immediate questions about how AEW will proceed, but there are still plenty of questions about the incident and the future of those involved with the promotion.

Selena Gomez, Will Arnett, And ‘Squid Game’ Players Will Present At The Emmys

Even though she was weirdly left off the list of acting nominees for her work on Only Murders In The Building, Selena Gomez will present at the 74th Emmy Awards on Monday evening. Only Murders is up for an absurd amount of nominations (absurd = 17), including Outstanding Comedy Series where Gomez and her fellow producers will have a chance at scoring a statuette. Will Arnett, Vanessa Bayer, and Taye Diggs are just a few of the people that might hand it to them.

According to Variety, Squid Game stars Lee Jung-jae and Jung Ho-yeon are also set to present awards. Both are up for acting awards among the 14 total nominations for the bleak social satire.

Keenan Thompson will host this year, navigating all the tony true crime, Korean murder games, and shows hosted by Jimmy Kimmel.

The full list of presenters is comprised mostly of nominees:

  • Will Arnett (Murderville)
  • Angela Bassett (9-1-1; American Horror Story)
  • Vanessa Bayer (I Love That for You)
  • Kelly Clarkson (The Kelly Clarkson Show)
  • Ariana DeBose (Schmigadoon!; Westworld)
  • Taye Diggs (All American; The Best Man: The Final Chapters)

When Does ‘Knives Out 2’ Come Out?

It’s been almost three years since Daniel Craig has been James Bond, having wrapped his last day of filming in October of 2019. But don’t worry, he locked in another franchise before he’d drank his last shaken martini. Knives Out, in which the actor played amateur (but good!) sleuth Benoit Blanc, hit theaters around the same time, and it was such a hit that Netflix — in the good old money-burning days — forked over a fortune for two more. But when does the first sequel come out?

The answer is complicated. Called Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery, it’s due to hit Netflix on December 23, right in time for some family gatherings. However, Netflix has toyed with bestowing it with a theatrical release, although it’s not clear how wide it will go. (Lord knows they could stand to make some theatrical box office bucks.) It’s also unknown when it will hit theaters, if it does at all. On the same day? A bit before? That part, at least, is up in the air. Meanwhile, those attending the Toronto International Film Festival in early-to-mid September get to see it before anyone else.

Not much is known about the plot, although it involves Edward Norton as a tech billionaire, and it’s set (and was shot) in Greece. Since they’re mysteries, Glass Onion not only has a different title from the first but also a new cast, Craig excepted. Along with Norton, there’s also Janelle Monáe, Kathryn Hahn, Leslie Odom Jr., Jessica Henwick, Madelyn Cline, Kate Hudson, and Dave Bautista. Being set in sunny Greece, it will likely not feature any killer sweaters.
