Cordae and Anderson .Paak — who made one hell of a team on “RNP” from Cordae’s debut album The Lost Boy — reunite for some more collaborative chemistry on mellow new single, “Two Tens.”
“Two Tens” is a stark departure from the upbeat “RNP,” replacing the bouncy funk of their first team-up with jazzy neo-soul produced by none other than J. Cole. But other than that, the formula remains the same as the two rappers, 11 years apart, pass the mic and trade four-bar sequences back and forth like the NBA’s illest two-man weave.
Content-wise, it’s also very similar to “RNP,” as the two rappers smoothly boast and brag about their female companions for the night. Cordae tries to set AP straight but AP just wants to have fun.
Likewise, the video is a throwback that follows the boys as they slide to the club, where they party with some enthusiastic women. Even though there’s some slight friction, they show mutual appreciation for each other’s situation, leading to a celebratory evening for all.
Although Cordae hasn’t officially announced his third album yet, “Two Tens” sounds like a strong start to the 25-year-old’s 2023, picking up where “Checkmate” left off.
Watch the video for “Two Tens” above.
Cordae is a Warner Music artist. Uproxx is an independent subsidiary of Warner Music Group.
If you Google “science,” as one does, the first result is for Science.org. Here are threerecentarticles from the website: “Bird flu outbreak at Spanish mink farm triggers pandemic fears,” “Despite opposition, Japan may soon dump Fukushima wastewater into the Pacific,” and “Human geneticists apologize for past involvement in eugenics, scientific racism.” Yeesh. Is science always this depressing?
A cosmetic surgeon has found that Page’s face is 93.65 percent accurate to the Greek Golden Ratio of Beauty Phi. The Golden Ratio – which is a ratio of roughly 1.618 – measures the symmetry of a person’s face and determines their attractiveness. Other hunky men who follow behind Page include Chris Hemsworth with 93.53 percent and Michael B. Jordan with 93.46 percent.
“These brand new computer mapping techniques allow us to solve some of the mysteries of what it is that makes someone physically beautiful and the technology is useful when planning patients’ surgery,” Dr. Julian De Silva, a Harley Street facial cosmetic surgeon, told Metro. Thank you, science, for telling us that Page’s eye position is 99.8 percent accurate, but his chin is only 94 percent. Disgusting.
After getting roasted by Shakira in the global hit “BZRP Music Sessions, Vol. 53,” her ex Gerard Piqué responded by saying that he entered into a sponsorship with Casio. On Monday (January 23), the watch-making company made it known that there’s no partnership with Piqué.
After Shakira released “BZRP Music Sessions, Vol. 53” with Bizarrap earlier this month, the song went viral thanks to her biting lyrics against Piqué and his current girlfriend. Shakira implied that his relationship with Marti was a downgrade in the diss track. She compared herself to a Ferrari and a Rolex while saying that Piqué settled for a Twingo car and a Casio watch.
During a Twitch live-stream with Kings League, Piqué announced that the group received a sponsorship from Casio. He handed out Casio watches to his King Leagues colleagues. When asked if the sponsorship was a joke, Piqué said, “No, I’m being serious.”
Following the song’s release, several fake Casio accounts popped on Twitter and responded to Piqué’s revelation. In an interview with Reason Why, Casio’s marketing director in Spain and Portugal, David Zuazua, set the record straight. He maintained that Casio has not taken any sides when it comes to Shakira and Piqué.
“I could answer you in more detail if we had triggered that but it is not the case,” Zuazua said. “I guess he got worked up since it was his first appearance. I insist that our brand positioning has always tried to be neutral and away from the media show.”
While dispelling that rumor, Zuazua also talked about the “Shakira effect” on the sales of Casio watches. “I can confirm that thanks to the Shakira effect, sales have been spectacular. On Saturday (72 hours after the song’s release) Casio’s sales were brutal. But the best thing is every day [sales] are much better than last year.”
Winter storms will abound in February, so the time is right for Netflix to sweep you away with some returning fan-favorite series. To that end, You and Outer Banks will come back with new seasons of intrigue, murder, and theatrics. As well, comedian Jim Jefferies will return for a fifth special, which will only enhance the streamer’s reputation for going in hard on biting wit. The Netflix true crime game will also keep cranking away with a new documentary about a wealthy family that fell from grace.
Fresh library additions are also coming your way, and those include the Lord of the Rings movie from director Peter Jackson. Tolkien lovers will now be able to freely switch between that film and the Amazon series, so fantasy binges will be readily available even while Netflix’s The Sandman and HBO’s House of the Dragon sit between Seasons. Here’s everything coming to (and leaving) Netflix in February.
You: Season 4 Part 1 (Netflix series streaming 2/9)
Joe Goldberg has another new name, and he’s moved to London. More news: the stalker is the one being stalked. Joe also has a new beard, but someone’s still onto him, but most importantly for his purposes, he’s vowed to finally change his ways, but books are still there for him. He’s now Jonathan Moore, a fake professor, who’s staring into the souls of college students and the adults who can’t quit academia, either. Penn Badgley has admitted to to feeling “icky” about a Season 4 poster, which still fits with the theme of the show, but now, it’s also a mystery story.
Jim Jefferies: High n’ Dry (Netflix comedy special streaming 2/14)
For better or worse, Jim Jefferies is preceded by his own reputation, which volleyed high after his infamous bit on gun control (which you can see above) and how Australia differs from the United States in that regard. In recent years, Jefferies has attempted to move into more inconsequential subjects, and he’ll take another shot in his fifth Netflix special, in which he will discuss sex drives, vasectomies, hair, and stoned koalas.
Outer Banks: Season 3 (Netflix series streaming 2/23)
This soapy mystery thriller will keep the battle going between the Kooks and the Pogues. This season, the latter group aims to visit the Caribbean for new adventures, but of course, that leads to diversions into other locations while everyone searches for a lost city. This was perhaps (deliciously) inevitable.
Murdaugh Murders: A Southern Scandal (Netflix documentary streaming 2/22)
Netflix’s commitment to true crime often stomps the streaming competition into oblivion. In this entry, viewers will get to know the Murdaugh family, who ran far and wide in wealthy South Carolina circles until the death of a teenager (during a boating accident) slowly toppled their social status. Later, the Murdaugh who allegedly powered that boat ended up dead, as did his mother. Through interviews and first-hand accounts never before seen, this documentary explores that horrible initial night and goes on to investigate the double murder that followed.

There is no denying Blackpink‘s status as being one of the most successful girl groups of our generation. Following the news of them being the first K-pop act and girl group to headline Coachella earlier this month, another set of the records are on the table… but for one of its members — Lisa.
While she may be breaking hearts of those jealous of soccer superstar Neymar’s photo with her, the Thai K-pop star has set three Guinness World Record titles after her groundbreaking solo projects last year as an artist and an influencer.
In a report from the Guinness World Record yesterday (January 24), Lisa, whose real name is Lalisa Manoban, earned herself the titles of the first solo K-pop winner at the MTV Video Music Awards, the first solo K-pop winner at the MTV Europe Music Awards, and the K-pop star who has the most followers on Instagram.
At last year’s MTV VMAs, Lisa won the Best K-Pop Video title to which BTS previously won the past years since the category’s debut in 2019. The same can be said about her MTV EMAs win last year, where the category was won by BTS since 2021.
As for Lisa’s third record title, the K-pop star has earned herself 86.3 million followers as of January 19 this year.
Blackpink is currently on their Born Pink World Tour will headline Coachella this April as well as the BST Hyde Park London Music Festival this July.
Dolly Parton is pairing up with the popular vinyl subscription service, Vinyl Me, Please, for a unique debut offering. The special option offers the first and limited-edition “Vinyl Me, Parton” dedicated to and curated by the country legend.
“I’m excited to be the first artist for the dedicated Record Of The Month club,” Parton shares in the new teaser video before the cryptic video cuts back to television static.
While it’s still unclear how long the new Parton-focused feature will run for or what it will consist of, it seems next month might give those interested in joining some more concrete answers.
According to the VMP website, fans can join the interest list to be notified when the pre-orders open some time in February. “There will only be a limited number of spots available,” they note.
As for Parton, it’s already been a pretty busy year for her. Between performing on a song from the 80 For Brady soundtrack to working on a gospel track with Dionne Warwick, it seems she has even more scheduled for her career in 2023.
And hey, she’s even been teasing a brand new rock album with Paul McCartney, Stevie Nicks, and more artists on it, so that might even become a vinyl inclusion.
The sign-up for Dolly Parton’s new “Vinyl Me, Parton” project is available here.
The rapper turned heads after showing up to sit front row at Schiaparelli’s Haute Couture show, covered head-to-toe in 30,000 Swarovski crystals, an artistic freedom she won’t have had if she didn’t shave her hair off. The look, which took five hours to complete, was all the buzz on social media as critics praised Doja for embracing couture’s innovation roots.
However, in her latest look for Viktor&Rolf’s show also caused a stir but for a much different reason. No, the musician wasn’t doused in jewels. This time, the entertainer had a few extra pairs of eyelashes strategically placed across her face.
When asked about the inspiration behind the look, speaking with NYLON, she told the outlet, “A few days ago, I did a Schiaparelli [show] and people were [commenting that] I didn’t have lashes on, and they were disappointed that I didn’t have lashes. Yet, I worked with one of the greatest makeup artists of all time, Pat McGrath. And so today, I gave them lashes. So, I hope they’re happy. I just want to make people happy.”
As LGBTQ+ artists continue to make strides in the music landscape, Spotify has launched a new platform to elevate those voices. This Tuesday (January 24), Spotify announced GLOW, a new program putting LGBTQ+ musicians, artists, and podcasters at the forefront. GLOW will maintain a commitment to making queer and trans voices heard.
Through GLOW, Spotify will partner with organizations like QORDS, Astrea, Black Trans Femmes In The Arts, ChamberQueer, Allgo, It Gets Better, Youth Music, and Casa Chama for projects, which entail editorial capabilities and charitable giving.
Across the country, Spotify GLOW will place 11 LGBTQ+ artists on billboards, helping them garner more streams on the platform.
On the GLOW platform, Spotify has several playlists, including one called “GLOW,” a comprehensive playlist of the hottest songs by LGBTQ+ artists; one called “Transcend,” which features music by trans, non-binary, and gender nonconforming artists; one called “Black, Queer, And Proud,” with music by Black LGBTQ+ artists; and a playlist called “Pioneers,” honoring the trailblazing LGBTQ+ artists of the past, who paved the way for today’s musicians.
To announce the launch, Spotify partnered with LGBTQ+ artists Bruses, Jean Seizure, Leland, Liniker, Natalia Lacunza, Arlo Parks, Joesef, Pabllo Vittar, Sam Smith, Tove Lo, and Villano Antillano.
The “action-comedy” has been so degraded as a genre that it’s a struggle to remember there ever being a good one. There are great action movies that are very funny, great comedies that have some action in them, but these days “action-comedy” mostly denotes a hyper-specific niche of half-baked action movie concept with one or two big movie stars sort of bullshitting their way through the dead spots.
As the latest entry into this dubious oeuvre comes Shotgun Wedding, streaming on Amazon Prime this weekend, starring Jennifer Lopez and Josh Duhamel as a couple whose destination wedding in the Philippines gets invaded by pirates. Sheesh, did the Philippines stiff their last PR firm or something? Between this and Plane, “the Philippines is a lawless hub of global piracy” is really having a moment. (As is the “destination wedding nightmare,” as also seen in Hulu’s The Drop).
Anyway, Shotgun Wedding is a lot like its peers in the genre. Knight and Day, The Tourist, Snatched — chances are you’ve had the misfortune of sitting through a movie like this in the past 10 or 15 years, even if you forgot about it the second your foot hit the first step of pavement outside the theater. The thing about movies like Die Hard or Lethal Weapon 2, or even The Last Boy Scout or The Long Kiss Goodnight was that they were functional action scripts, that occasionally allowed for some levity to break through based on the fact that the characters were regular humans (albeit clever ones).
The way this kind of neo-action-comedy seems to work, by contrast, is that whenever writing a rom-com starts to get hard, you throw in a few action movie tropes, and whenever the action stuff gets hard to write, you throw in a few jokes. There are rarely any well-constructed jokes or well-conceived action, just the equivalent of two writing crutches leaned against each other forming a sort of teepee.
Shotgun Wedding is more of a pitch deck with a tagline (“’Til Death Do Us Part” takes on a whole new meaning in this hilarious, adrenaline-fueled adventure as Darcy and Tom must save their loved ones—if they don’t kill each other first!”) than anything resembling a movie. Honestly, if you’re experiencing anything close to “adrenaline” while watching Josh Duhamel and Jennifer Lopez’s dull, banal bickering in Shotgun Wedding you’re probably an Amish on Rumspringa, thrilled at your first encounter with electricity and moving images.
Let’s see… Jennifer Lopez plays Darcy and Josh Duhamel Tom. They’re trying to plan a wedding without the help of Darcy’s rich father, played by Cheech Marin, which leads to them being sort of frazzled. Which is only exacerbated by Tom’s overbearing mother — Jennifer Coolidge — and the surprise appearance of Darcy’s fabulously rich playboy ex-fiancée played by Lenny Kravitz. There’s also Callie Hernandez as Darcy’s doesn’t-really-look-like-her sister and Sonia Braga as her caustic mother. Hey, great cast! Sadly they mostly just get to stand around while arguably the least two comedically capable of the group (Lopez and Duhamel, admittedly both very easy on the eyes) run around having cockamamie adventures while trying to rescue their families from not-very-convincing pirates (one guy has a mask that looks like a sea urchin! neat!).
Did I mention Josh Duhamel’s character is a recently-retired ex-minor league designated hitter? That fact comes into play once or twice. Jennifer Lopez is clearly trying to get into Sandra Bullock mode here, and she’s not terrible, but it doesn’t suit her nearly so well as when she plays tough girl with a secretly soft side (Out Of Sight) or owns her natural, effortless command of her own sex appeal (Hustlers). I’m not really buying this woman as a kooky rom-com heroine, sorry. Josh Duhamel continues being Josh Duhamel.
Aside from a few inspired casting choices (Lenny Kravitz! How about that!) Shotgun Wedding is more a poster that’s been asked to stretch than a movie, a passive watch for audiences who enjoy seeing celebrities. This sort of thing didn’t really work with Tom Cruise and Cameron Diaz, nor did it work with Angelina Jolie and Johnny Depp, or with Amy Schumer and Goldie Hawn, so why would it work with Jennifer Lopez and Josh Duhamel? An action movie that doesn’t take any of the action seriously is not the same thing as an “action-comedy” any more than two famous people bickering is automatically comedic.
‘Shotgun Wedding’ hits Prime Video January 27th. Vince Mancini is on Twitter. You can read more of his reviews here.
In order to be considered a beer, the liquid in your bottle (or can) must contain water, barley, yeast, and, of course, hops. While we understand that every ingredient is important to the overall finished product, we’re most interested in the hops today. The floral, earthy, herbal, piney aromas they give off and the dank, resinous, sometimes bitter flavor they impart are the basis for many a beer.
“The more hops the better” is a mantra that has grown a little dated but it certainly spurred on the craft beer revolution. It also led to a whole boatload of truly excellent IPAs. And double IPAs!
Also known as imperial IPAs, these ramped-up IPAs are loaded with more malts and even more hops than their single IPA brethren. This results in an over-the-top IPA well suited for winter drinking with its sweet, toasted malt, caramel backbone, and bold hop flavor. Oh yeah, it’s also higher in alcohol by volume than its classic counterpart and who wouldn’t want to spend winter drinking an IPA with a little extra kick to it?
Today we picked up eight great double IPAs at the local craft beer shop and ranked them based on flavor and aroma. Keep scrolling to see which double IPAs you should flood your fridge with this season.
With a name like Maximus, you can assume this is a bold, big IPA. It’s 9% ABV and loaded with malted wheat, Munich, and Crystal malts. It gets its spicy, floral, piney flavor from the addition of Cascade and Simcoe hops.
Tasting Notes:
It smells like yeast, toasted barley, pineapple, grapefruit, and bright pine. Decent nose, but nothing to write home about for such a high ABV IPA. The palate is more of the same with caramel malts, citrus peels, and dank pine. The finish is dry and bitter. It’s a decent beer, it’s just a little heavy for an everyday IPA.
Bottom Line:
Maximus is just as it seems. An in-your-face IPA that has a little too much of everything for many drinkers. Still, it’s guaranteed to warm you up on a cold night.
The name is a reference to Atlas having to “deadlift” the world after stealing hops from the gods. While we don’t know if this story is actually of the Greek myths, we do know this Alchemy, Cascade, Nelson Sauvin, and Willamette hopped beer is truly epic.
Tasting Notes:
Toasted malts, caramel, tropical fruits, orange peels, and floral hops are prevalent on the nose. The palate starts off fairly malt-heavy before moving into tangerine, grapefruit, tropical fruits, and dank pine. The finish is dry and lightly bitter.
Bottom Line:
While we’d grab this beer any day of the week (especially in the winter), it leans a little too heavily into the malt flavor than we’d prefer.
This big, bad double IPA is over 10% ABV and over 100 IBUS (international bittering units). Even with that, it’s surprisingly drinkable with aromas and flavors of sweet malts and floral, citrus, and tropical fruit-forward hops.
Tasting Notes:
The nose is a mix of mango, peach, pineapple, grapefruit, tangerine, caramel malts, and light pine needles. The palate is a great mix of sweet malts, citrus peels, mangos, guava, and floral, herbal pine. The finish is bitter and hoppy. It’s a well-balanced beer, but it won’t knock your socks off in terms of overall flavor.
Bottom Line:
For the high ABV and IBUS, this is still a surprisingly easy-drinking IPA well-suited for winter weather. It’s just a little by the book for our liking.
The truth is…the is a pretty tasty double IPA. This 8.7% ABV IPA was brewed with Munich malts and malted wheat as well as Warrior, Summit, Citra, Columbus, and Amarillo hops. It’s known for its mix of fruit and pine.
Tasting Notes:
Meyer lemon, pineapple, tangerine, peach, and floral hops make for a promising nose. The palate starts with some toasted malts before moving on to more peach, pineapple, grapefruit, and dank, resinous pine. The finish is a mix of sweet fruit and bitter hops.
Bottom Line:
This is a well-balanced, memorable double IPA. While it’s not for everyone, it’s definitely a great beer for the tropical fruit and citrus crowd. It’s like a respite from the winter rather than a cold weather enhancer.
This year-round 9% ABV double IPA gets its point across right on the can — with its brewmaster hoisting a pitchfork featuring a massive hop. Brewed with Bravo, Cascade, and Columbus hops, it’s known for its aromatic and flavorful use of hops.
Tasting Notes:
A nose of caramel malts, cereal grains, tangerine, grapefruit, clover honey, berries, and herbal pine gets you amped to sip this beer. Drinking it reveals notes of caramel, toasted malts, wet grass, berries, straw, pineapple, grapefruit, and dank, resinous hops. The finish is a pleasant mix of caramel malts and bitter, herbal hops.
Bottom Line:
Seek this beer out. It’s a great example of a classic double IPA done right. There isn’t too much of anything and all the flavors work well together. A great beer for a frigid winter evening.
This winter seasonal is eagerly awaited by double IPA fans because of its kettle use of Chinook, Centennial, and El Dorado hops before being dry-hopped with a massive blizzard of Galaxy and Chinook hops. The result is a bold, hazy, hop-fueled banger of a beer.
Tasting Notes:
There’s a ton of citrus on this beer’s nose. Tangerine, lemon, and grapefruit throughout as well as light caramel malts and a nice kick of dank pine. The palate starts with some sweet malts and winds its way into wet grass, pineapple, grapefruit, orange zest, lemongrass, and a healthy dose of floral earthy, resinous pine at the finish.
Bottom Line:
It’s boozy, citrusy, and overall delicious. This is the kind of warming double IPA that you’ll want to sip after a long winter’s day.
There aren’t many winter IPAs more eagerly awaited than Bell’s Hopslam. Usually only available from January into the spring (although it’s been released earlier in recent years), this popular beer is brewed with six different hops before being dry-hopped with Simcoe hops.
Tasting Notes:
A nose of honeydew melons, pear, caramel malts, honey, citrus peels, and pine greets you before your first sip. The palate is highlighted by more caramel malts, honey, pineapple, mango, tangerine, grapefruit, and spicy, herbal, dank pine at the end. The finish is bitter but very pleasing.
Bottom Line:
This is a complex beer. It ticks all the double IPA boxes but really shines because of the caramel and honey sweetness tempering the bright hop flavors. All of these flavors make it an epic winter beer.
We’re not sure what exactly a dirt wolf is, but this beer is howling with fresh hop aroma and flavor. This 8.7% ABV double IPA is brewed with Pilsner and Pale Crystal malts. It gets its hop presence from Citra, Simcoe, Mosaic, and Chinook hops.
Tasting Notes:
Complex aromas of caramel, toasted malts, orange peels, lemon, grass, mango, pineapple, and resinous, floral hops start things off on the right foot. Sipping it brings forth notes of sweet honey, caramel, mango, guava, pineapple, tangerine, grapefruit, and a forest of pine needles. The finish is a gentle mix of malts and bitter hops.
Bottom Line:
Sweet malts, citrus, juicy tropical fruits, and a nice, crisp, dry, lightly bitter finish. What more could you ask for in a wintry double IPA?
