LaMelo Ball Fractured His Right Ankle On A Non-Contact Play Against Detroit

It’s been a lost season for the Charlotte Hornets. Even with a win over the Detroit Pistons on Monday evening, the Hornets are just 20-43 and battling for ping-pong balls, rather than for playoff positioning. The team’s brightest spot has, predictably, been standout guard LaMelo Ball but, on Monday evening, Ball suffered a non-contact injury in the second half against Detroit.

Shortly after the game ended, the Hornets announced that Ball suffered a fracture in his right ankle.

This is a rare instance in which the team simply announced something like this quickly after the injury was suffered and before national news-breakers could scoop the story. However, the Hornets did not list any kind of timetable for Ball’s potential return, leaving a great deal of uncertainty.

Further details will be needed to determine how long Ball will be out, but the Hornets have little to play for the rest of this season and Ball has suffered left ankle sprains on three different occasions this season. That could leave Charlotte with incentive to keep Ball on the sideline and, at the very least, it would be wise for the Hornets to be quite cautious with his recovery given the reality that Ball is the centerpiece of the franchise. Entering Monday, he is averaging 23.4 points, 8.5 assists, and 6.4 rebounds per game on the season and the Hornets will miss him significantly in what figures to be an extended absence.

50 Cent Declared Method Man His Favorite Rapper Of Wu-Tang Clan, Following NAACP Image Award Win

50 Cent may have come to a settlement with a media outlet over their sharing of Miami-based practice Perfection Medical Spa’s unproven size claims about his member downstairs. Still, there’s no denying he has a huge set of cojones on him. Today, the rapper declared Method Man was the best rapper in the legendary hip-hop collective Wu-Tang Clan.

This isn’t the first time the mogul had a bold take online when it comes to his rap music. Just last week, 50 shared his opinion that Future was ‘way bigger’ in the streets than Jay-Z. Now, while congratulation Method Man on his NAACP Image Award win for Outstanding Supporting Actor In A Drama Series (for the role of Davis McLean) in 50’s executive-produced series, Power Book II: Ghost, the “In Tha Club” rapper wrote a kind note.

In a now-deleted Instagram post, 50 cent wrote, “Method Man is no joke, he was always #1 in Wu-Tang to me, but he has transitioned into something that has to be celebrated his train won’t stop, shout out to @naacp for recognizing and the ZARS network.”

To which Method Man replied, “3rd times the charm.. another win for the team.”

Is 50 Cent biased in his assessment due to the longstanding business relationship? Either way, many fans joined in to agree with his declaration.

The third season of Power Book II: Ghost, will premiere on March 17.

Steven Seagal Has Received A Seriously Dodgy Award (Hint: It Came From Vladimir Putin)

As an actor, Steven Seagal hasn’t won many awards. He has one Razzie, but it’s for directing On Deadly Ground. Surely he’s stoked to add at least one honorarium to the mantlepiece: As per The Associated Press, the martial artist-turned-actor-turned-notorious SNL guest host has been awarded an Order of Friendship. Sounds nice, right? Trouble is, it came from Vladimir Putin.

The award was bestowed upon the Hard to Kill actor on Monday, mere days after the one-year anniversary of the disastrous Russian invasion of Ukraine. Seagal has long been a Putin pal, dating all the way back to 2013. He was awarded Russian citizenship in 2016 and two years later he was given a “special envoy” position as a cultural ambassador for the U.S.

Seagal doubled down on his Putin love in the early months of the Russian invasion, but in late summer it was discovered he was doing more than just saying nice things about the nation’s leader. He was spotted at the site of a destroyed prison in war-torn Ukraine, where he spread all manner of heinous propaganda against the invaded nation.

And now he has a fancy honor to brag about. At least the guy who hasn’t had a movie released in four years is doing something.

Ari Lennox And Babyface’s ‘Liquor’ Is The Smoothest Serving Of R&B With An Intoxicating Video To Match

Babyface found his perfect sensual collaborative partner in Ari Lennox. Their latest single, “Liquor,” and accompanying music video directed by Jean Esten, is a match made in R&B heaven. The track featured on the legendary producer and songwriter’s compilation album, Girls Night Out, which was released in October 2021, is the perfect bridge between Lennox’s rising star power and Babyface’s veteranism.

On the song, Lennox puts her signature vocals on full display as the pair serenade one another. However, in the official video, instead of exploring this chemistry further, Lennox, in the role of lounge singer at the one and only The Peppermint Club in West Hollywood (not to be confused with the iconic Peppermint Lounge), an entranced patron of the establishment falls deep into Lennox’s web of lust as Babyface assists in the background of the sole bartender.

When asked about Lennox’s talent by media personality Angela on her podcast Lip Service, Babyface said, “I think that Ari’s voice is a voice that she can sing about many things that matter to a lot of people. Her voice is an important voice, and I think that it’s just the beginning for her.”

“Liquor” is filled with clever adult beverage puns that effortless role of the tongue of Lennox as she sings, “Two shots of liquor, no chaser / No rocks, no blend, straight up, just you / Two shots of liquor, oh, oh / I need one hundred from my man, he can’t be eighty proof / When he ask me throw it back, I tell him absolut-ely.”

If you’re going to be drunk in love, then who better to stumble for than Ari Lennox or the King of R&B, Kenneth ‘Babyface’ Edmonds?

We Ranked Hoppy IPAs For Fans Of Floral Flavors And Aromas

Beer drinkers love IPAs for their wide variety of flavors. While the bitterness associated with hops is front and center, there are also myriad other notes on the palate. We’re talking about tropical fruit, citrus, dank, piney, resin, herbal, earthy, grassy, and florals. While we enjoy IPAs featuring all these distinct flavors, today we’re turning out attention solely to that last phrase — we’re looking at hoppy, floral IPAs.

You might wonder why IPAs even taste flowery and herbal at all. It’s because hops are actually the flowering blossoms of the Humulus lupulus plant. While all hops will add at least a little floral aroma and flavor, certain hops are more well-known for it. This includes popular hop varieties like Cascade, Centennial, Amarillo, and Saaz.

So which tastes best? We decided to rank eight of our favorite IPAs based on their fragrant flowery flavors.

8) Founders Centennial

Founders Centennial
Founders

ABV: 7.2%

Average Price: $9 for a four-pack of 16-ounce cans

The Beer:

This 7.2% ABV, year-round IPA is brewed exclusively with Centennial hops (hence the name). It’s dry-hopped and known for its mix of citrus fruit and caramel malt palate and floral finish. It’s a beer for the Centennial fans.

Tasting Notes:

It starts with a nose of bready malts, citrus peels, and floral, herbal hops. The palate starts with a ton of malt and then moves into lemon zest and orange peel before finishing with floral, earthy hops. It is not very bitter at the finish and overall fairly unexciting.

Bottom Line:

This is a beer for Centennial hop fans. It’s a well-made beer. It’s just a little muted in the flavor department and lacks the floral kick we crave.

7) Great Divide Titan

Great Divide Titan
Great Divide

ABV: 7.1%

Average Price: $12 for a six-pack

The Beer:

This award-winning beer is an aggressively dry-hopped double IPA brewed with Centennial, Amarillo, Simcoe, Mosaic, and Citra hops. It also has a nice malt presence designed to temper the deluge of hops aromas and flavors.

Tasting Notes:

The nose is surprisingly fruity with grapefruit, tangerine, ripe pineapple, and earthy, floral hops. The palate continues this trend with notes of caramel malts, orange peel, lemon, grass, and floral, dank, lightly bitter hops at the finish. Sadly, it just didn’t have enough of the floral flavor we want.

Bottom Line:

This beer was brewed with a ton of different hops. And while they all work together to create a great flavor, the floral element seems to fall behind some of the other flavors.

6) Ithaca Flower Power

Ithaca Flower Power
Ithaca

ABV: 7.5%

Average Price: $13 for a six-pack

The Beer:

With a name like Flower Power, this beer better be a floral, hoppy bomb. Luckily, it is. The Central New York-based brewery’s flagship beer, Flower Power is brewed with Simcoe, Centennial, Cascade, and Ahtanum hops. It gets added aroma and flavor from being dry-hopped with Chinook, Amarillo, and Simcoe hops.

Tasting Notes:

Right away this beer lives up to its name as it’s surprisingly floral on the nose before moving into caramel malts, citrus fruits, and light pine. Drinking it reveals notes of lemon zest, wet grass, tangerine, sweet malts, grapefruit, honey, pine resin, and floral hops.

Bottom Line:

This is a great beer for floral IPA fans. Its only downfall is that it’s a little dank and bitter for those who prefer their IPAs to be a little more subtle.

5) Deschutes Fresh Squeezed

Deschutes Fresh Squeezed
Deschutes

ABV: 6%

Average Price: $11 for a six-pack

The Beer:

At first look, this year-round, 6.4% ABV IPA is a fruity, citrus-filled banger. But it’s so much more than that. Brewed with 2-row, Munich, and Crystal malts as well as Citra and Mosaic hops, it’s also a great beer for floral fans.

Tasting Notes:

There’s a fair amount of citrus up front. Grapefruit, tangerine, and lemon are very noticeable. This is followed by bready malts and herbal, piney, and very floral hops. The palate is loaded with sweet malts, honey, orange peel, grapefruit, mango, and earthy, resinous, floral hops. The finish is dry and gently bitter.

Bottom Line:

Deschutes Fresh Squeezed is a great example of an IPA that starts with other flavors (namely citrus) and works its way nicely into floral, herbal hop notes.

4) Odell Myrcenary

Odell Myrcenary
Odell

ABV: 9.3%

Average Price: $13 for a six-pack

The Beer:

This IPA is so floral-centric it even gets its name from Myrcene, the essential oil from the flower of the hop. It’s brewed with a handful of different hops, all of which have very high levels of Myrcene. This results in a very fruity, tropical, boldly floral IPA.

Tasting Notes:

There are a ton of tropical fruit flavors in this beer’s nose. Aromas of mango, grapefruit candied pineapple, orange peel, bready malts, pine needles, and floral, earthy hops draw you in for a sip. The palate continues this positive trend with notes of mango, passionfruit, caramel malts, tangerine, grass, lemon zest, and piney, floral hops. The finish is dry and pleasantly bitter.

Bottom Line:

This is a very well-round beer with a ton of floral notes that complement the various other aromas and flavors quite well.

3) DC Brau The Corruption

DC Brau The Corruption
DC Brau

ABV: 6.5%

Average Price: $12 for a six-pack

The Beer:

DC Brau The Corruption is brewed exclusively with Columbus hops. For those unaware, this type of hop is known for its intense aroma of dank, almost cannabis-like floral and pine resin as well as its floral, citrus, and wintry spice flavors. The Corruption begins with a malt backbone that works perfectly with the aforementioned hop aromas and flavors.

Tasting Notes:

On the nose, you’ll find candied orange peels, lemon zest, grapefruit, pine needles, clover honey, and floral, herbal, earthy hops. The palate begins with a cereal grain sweetness and works its way into more citrus fruits, tropical fruits, caramel, and a final flourish of subtly bitter, spicy, floral, dank pine.

Bottom Line:

This is a great IPA for floral fans because Columbus hops carry a potent floral aroma and flavor as well as other favorable scents and flavors that work well together.

2) Sierra Nevada Torpedo

Sierra Nevada Torpedo
Sierra Nevada

ABV: 7.2%

Average Price: $11 for a six-pack

The Beer:

Sierra Nevada Torpedo gets its name from the “Hop Torpedo” used in the dry-hopping process. The flavorful hops included are Citra, Crystal, and Magnum. It’s known for its mix of citrus, pine, and floral flavors.

Tasting Notes:

The nose is a nice mix of caramel malts, cereal grains, honey, tangerine, grapefruit, and dank, resinous, floral hops. Sipping it reveals notes of bready malts, caramel, lemon peel, grapefruit, pineapple, and more dank, resinous, floral hops at the finish. It has a bitter bite, but one that works well with the flavors.

Bottom Line:

Sierra Nevada Torpedo is a great beer for fans of floral aromas and flavors because it makes up one-third of the beer’s flavor profile (along with pine and citrus) and works in unison with the other two.

1) Lawson’s Finest Hopzilla

Lawson's Finest Hopzilla
Lawson

ABV: 8.7%

Average Price: $18 for a four-pack of 16-ounce cans

The Beer:

With a name like Hopzilla, you’d probably assume this beer is monstrously hoppy. And it is. This 8.7% ABV double IPA is brewed with high-alpha hops and is dry-hopped to guarantee a floral, piney, fruity flavor profile you’ll want to drink again and again.

Tasting Notes:

Right away, this beer will knock you over with its bold pine aroma. It’s followed closely by caramel malts, pineapple, grapefruit, tangerine, and floral, grassy hops. On the palate, you’ll find notes of orange pulp, lemongrass, grapefruit, mango, freshly baked bread, caramel malts, and earthy, herbaceous, floral, dank hops.

Bottom Line:

When it comes to well-rounded, flavorful floral-centric IPAs, it’s difficult to beat the appeal of Lawson’s Hopzilla. Everything is working together in perfect harmony. Especially the bold floral aromas and flavors.

Sean Hannity Was Allegedly ‘Privately Disgusted’ With Trump Over His Voter Fraud Antics

On Monday, the transcript from Rupert Murdoch’s deposition last month over the possibly apocalyptic lawsuit brought upon Fox News by Dominion Voting Systems was made public. They weren’t great — at least not for him and his company. For one thing, the media tycoon had to admit, under oath, that he did little to nothing to stop his hosts from knowingly spreading 2020 voter fraud nonsense.

Murdoch’s deposition also featured some dirt on some of his employees and other Republican figures. One was Sean Hannity, who has long tried to tow the line between staying buds with the guy who started all of Fox News’ worries — former president Donald Trump — and not getting his employers in even more trouble. Turns out Hannity wasn’t exactly the most forthright friend.

Among the private correspondences now made public are email between Murdoch and Paul Ryan, former Speaker of the House. Ryan was concerned that a “high percentage of Americans” believed the 2020 election was stolen “because they got a diet of information telling them the election was stolen from what they believe were credible sources.”

Murdoch responded, “Thanks Paul. Wake-up call for Hannity, who has been privately disgusted by Trump for weeks, but was scared to lose viewers.”

Ryan replied that the “sooner we can put down the echoes of falsehoods from our side, the faster we can get onto principled loyal opposition. I truly hope our contributors, along with Tucker, Laura, and Sean get that and execute.”

In the wake of Trump’s loss in November 2020, Fox News often featured guests who floated deranged conspiracy theories about an allegedly stolen election. Thanks to the info dumps from the lawsuit, whose trial begins in April, we now know that many of those hosts thought it was all bunk, too.

Katy Perry Sheds Tears On ‘American Idol’ After A School Shooting Survivor Auditions

Katy Perry’s time on American Idol has come with plenty of emotions. Aspiring singers often bring with them a rollercoaster of emotions. Regardless of the talent of the singers, hearing the contestant’s stories can be an intense experience, no matter what they’re going through. However, an audition from Sunday night’s (February 26) episode was particularly painful, leading to Katy Perry tearing up.

A 21-year-old mattress salesman named Trey Louis gave a heartfelt performance of “Stone” by Whiskey Myers. After singing, he was asked what inspired him to come onto the show. He explained that in May of 2018, he was at school in Santa Fe, Texas, when a gunman took the lives of classmates and teachers. As a result, he wanted to give a better reputation to his hometown.

The judges were impacted by this story, especially Perry, who broke down in tears, holding her face in her hands. “Our country has f*cking failed us,” she yelled. Louis agreed. She added, “This is not okay. You should be singing here because you love music, not because you had to go through that f*cking bullsh*t. You don’t have to lose eight friends. I hope that you remind people that we have to change. ’Cause, you know, I’m scared too.”

Luke Bryan and Lionel Richie both consoled Perry, echoing her grievances. “We have tolerated this for so long,” Richie said. “Too long.”

LeBron James Will Not Play Against Memphis After Injuring His Right Foot In Dallas

The Los Angeles Lakers picked up a key (and improbable) win over the Mavericks on Sunday in Dallas, erasing a 27-point deficit to move within one game of the Pelicans for the 10th spot in the West and the all-important final play-in position.

However, after the game there was considerable concern about LeBron James’ status going forward after he went down in the late third quarter with a right foot injury on a drive. James was heard on the broadcast telling Anthony Davis he heard a pop, but would tighten his shoe, walk it off, and stay in the game to help the Lakers’ comeback effort.

After the game, James had a bit of a limp and the Lakers said they would monitor how he was feeling, and on Monday we learned the injury was at least significant enough to keep him out of their next game in Memphis against the Grizzlies. The official injury report for L.A. had James listed as OUT with “right foot soreness” while D’Angelo Russell remains doubtful with an ankle sprain. Given the ground the Lakers still have to make up in the West, James’ status looms large for how they’ll navigate this closing stretch of the season. Facing the Grizzlies, who have found their stride again of late, without James is a tall task, but the optimistic view is he is choosing to sit out the first of a back-to-back and could return as soon as Wednesday. That is when the Lakers will face the Thunder in OKC and then have the Timberwolves on Friday back home in L.A., with every game against West foes crucial for their playoff and play-in hopes.
