Nick Cannon Says A Fresh Haircut Makes Him Feel Like He Can ‘Impregnate The Whole World’ (Which He Pretty Much Already Has)

Nick Cannon has really been leaning into his fatherhood lately. Last month, he claimed he has “super sperm” because he’s “practiced birth control, and people still got pregnant,” he said. The dad of 12 chose chaos earlier this week by bringing up the topic again after a haircut.

On Wednesday, May 3, he tweeted, “Something about a Fresh Haircut that makes you feel like you can impregnate the whole world…” He ended the sentence with three laughing emojis, though who knows anymore?

The replies are predictably full of jokes and memes.

Last year, Cannon explained why monogamy wasn’t for him in a YouTube Live interview with Dvsn.

“I’ve practiced monogamy, I’ve been a cheater, I’ve been toxic,” he said. “It all starts with honesty. It’s really just surface, basic stuff. One of my therapists coined what I do as consensual non-monogamy. Because to even pretend like I’m in a monogamous relationship, that would be misleading. Because, as we know, monogamy defines one thing — and people like to classify what I do as polyamory or polygamy, but even that, I always say to define me is to confine me.”

Dvsn is a Warner Music artist. Uproxx is an independent subsidiary of Warner Music Group.

Sam Hanratty On The Latest Episode Of ‘Yellowjackets’ And Whether Ot Not That Thing Should Have Been Eaten

Warning: This post contains spoilers for Yellowjackets episode 5, “Qui”.

In the grand scheme of things, the fifth episode of Yellowjackets’ second season isn’t particularly gruesome. The bar has been set high, inches painstakingly raised by acts of murder, kidnapping, cannibalism, and animal beheadings. In “Qui,” there’s plenty of blood — a character gives birth after all — along with organs and bodily fluids that might make casual viewers a bit squeamish. But for star Samantha Hanratty (Misty Quigley), the hardest parts of the episode to digest weren’t tied to any kind of mysticism or supernatural symbolism.

Hanratty’s take on the eccentric, slightly-insane outcast has been a highlight of the show. Her Misty has an enviable ability to disassociate from reality whenever it’s convenient, excusing her bad behavior, painting herself both a victim and hero, and secretly reveling in the chaos she often helps to create. This season, she’s already eaten one teammate and killed another but Hanratty teases we still haven’t seen the team’s oddball equipment manager at her worst.

UPROXX chatted with Hanratty about filming that traumatizing birth scene, her doula aspirations, the non-ethical future of Misty Quigley, and why she would’ve eaten (part of) the baby.

Did someone actually throw up when you filmed the cannibal scene in episode two?

Ok yes, fine. I threw up. Courtney [Eaton] was gagging. I threw up. It was a great time. But let me tell you, by the fifth bite of Ella Purnell, I was like, ‘Alight, I’m tapped out.’

What’s Misty’s headspace like coming into this episode?

She’s not where she would have liked to be. She likes to be in charge. I think she’s always felt pretty good about the fact that she’s going to be the nurse at this stage. But now that it’s without Crystal, without this person that she thought she was going to go through all of this with … I don’t even know if she thinks she’s done anything necessarily wrong, but she is starting to have really bad anxiety for the first time, her first real panic attack. Which is good. It shows that she is a bit more human than some people might think.

If we’re going to get technical, Misty didn’t actually kill Crystal.

That’s what I like to say. There’s a lot of debate on Reddit, but I do think at some point, Crystal would have been un-alived, possibly at the hands of Misty. I think that the way it happened was not the way that it was ever supposed to, in Misty’s eyes. But I think she’s dealing with a lot of just overall sadness. She’s so frazzled. She’s supposed to be this cool cucumber. She’s supposed to be the one who has it together. And when she doesn’t, I think not being able to push that aside is really scaring her.

Is she more volatile now that Crystal’s gone?

I think that if Crystal didn’t come into the picture, we would have seen more of a dangerous side of Misty earlier on. Now that the distraction of a friend is gone, her main purpose is going to be remembered, and that is to have power and leadership in this group. I think that she is more dangerous than she’s ever been after the death of Crystal, because she really has lost the last thing that was keeping her somewhat sane.

What moment in this episode brings back the “old Misty?”

When Lottie comes to her and says, ‘We need you right now.’ It’s that quick shock back into, ‘This is my team. We’re here because of me.’ I don’t think she views it in a bad way. I think she views it as divine intervention that she made happen. But she’s like, we’re here because of me and I’m going to do what I’m supposed to do. Every decision she’s made, she justifies it in her own head that she’s done nothing wrong. And I think that’s one of the things that snaps her out of feeling sad. It’s back into, ‘Okay, time to perform, time to go into action, time to show them who I am, what I’ve got, what I’m made of, and be the hero.’ She never views herself as the villain in this story.

How did you prepare for and shoot that birth scene?

I’ve given birth on set before, so I’ve done a lot of research when it comes to births. I’m the auntie of seven nieces and nephews, I can’t wait to be a mom myself. Hopefully, by next year I will be starting my own family. So I’m very familiar with that whole process. I just wanted it to come across as authentic as possible. Misty knows a lot, but I also didn’t want it to be where she knows too, too much. I could see myself as Samantha being a doula for people at some point. But for Misty, I’m like, I don’t know if she’s at that point. You know what I mean?

Just little things like, if we were in a hospital, Shauna’s legs would have been propped up and we would have had her all the way at the foot of the bed and things like that. I definitely had to stop myself from being like, ‘That’s not accurate.’ To be like, ‘This is a group of teenage girls who don’t know what they’re doing.’

After this episode, I could see you being a birthing coach. You were very motivating.

[laughs] Jasmin [Savoy-Brown] even said while we were filming, ‘I would want you to be there when I give birth. I think I’d want you to be my doula.’ I’m like, ‘Thank you. That’s a huge compliment.’

The mechanics are one thing. How did you handle the emotions of filming something this traumatic?

Our show can get spooky and a little crazy at times. And for those types of scenes where things do get a bit outlandish, I’m able to take myself out of it. But when it comes to something so serious as childbirth and how dangerous it can be, especially if you’re not in the hospital … Before we started filming, my number one concern was making sure that the crew and cast were taken care of and that everybody had a safe place and a safe person to talk to.

Thankfully, we had our great intimacy coordinator on set and she really helped set the tone. Sophie Nelisse is an incredible actress, and there were times when I really started sobbing and needed to step away. Jasmin and I would go into each other’s trailers and just hold each other. This is a topic that many of us have been affected by in life. Of course, we want to create a fun, positive atmosphere, but there are days that are just harder than others. The second they called, cut, I was massaging Sophie’s feet. I was making sure that she was okay. I was checking in on others and they were checking in on me. We all got really close during the filming process of this episode.

And that fade-to-black ending …

I just got goosebumps. I almost felt a trigger response because it did feel so real. And like I said, I have four sisters. It’s something that a lot of people in this world have dealt with or know somebody who has dealt with — losing a child. And it’s not taken lightly. We never know what each other has gone through. If you’re watching this episode with your friends and with your family, it’s an important episode, it’s a beautiful episode, it’s a tragic episode. Maybe just check in with each other while experiencing this with these girls. I know, for me, I’m going to give a warning to my sisters and I’ve given warnings to a couple of people prior. But it is something to also be expected in the circumstances that we’re in out there.

Are there any scenes that were left on the cutting room floor? Did you end up getting to deliver a fake baby?

Ugh, I hate jelly babies. I’ve worked so many times with jelly babies. I don’t mean to be rude, but they’re so ugly and scary.

What is a “jelly baby”?

So I don’t love dolls. Dolls freak me out. It’s basically a doll but it’s made out of more flimsy material so that it can flop around. They’re quite heavy and they’re just freaky looking. They’re so flimsy and the neck never stays up.

In Shauna’s post-birth delirium, was it the placenta or the actual baby you guys were eating?

It was definitely the baby in that world, in her imaginary world. I’m not going to lie, no matter what, I think they should have eaten the placenta. It’s something that they should have cooked up. And honestly, I hate to get to this level of detail, but look, if Shauna is able to have any milk come out …

You’re struggling to survive out there at the moment.

I know it’s a sensitive time, a sensitive subject, but we’re dying.

It’s a fair point.

Maybe it was just a bit too far for the show. You can quote me on this, I know people are going to find this gross, but when I have a baby, I’m going to eat the placenta. I’m going to get it put into capsules.

They did it on Keeping Up with the Kardashians.

If Kim can do it, we can do it.

Cannibalism, murder, horrific birth scenes. Without giving too much away, is there anything that can top what we’ve already seen in the upcoming episodes?

Not only does it get topped, shit gets real. I just watched episodes seven and eight and I just did ADR for episode nine. And I’m not going to lie, I knew it was messed up, what we were doing. But re-watching it, my jaw was definitely on the floor with where things went.

Bad things have happened, and they’ve reacted in the name of survival. I’m just wondering when the girls are going to start doing bad things to each other.

That’s going to show very soon. You’ll see us dive into some non-ethical — if you want to call anything that we’ve ever done before ethical — you’ll see some non-ethical behavior this season.

Tom Brady Responded To The Report That He’s Considering Backing Out Of His Fox Deal

Tom Brady put pen to paper on a deal that will make him the lead broadcaster for Fox back in 2022. Of course, Brady signed the deal with an eye on his post-playing career, and after originally retiring in 2022, the future Hall of Fame inductee reverse dcourse, returned for one more season, retired again, and decided that he didn’t need to head right into the broadcast booth for the 2023 NFL season.

A report this week indicated that Brady might end up backing out of the 10-year, $375 million agreement altogether. According to Andrew Marchand of the New York Post, the odds of Brady joining Fox is 49/51, with Marchand speculating that it would be a major undertaking that may not appeal to Brady right now. Well, Brady got word of all of this and replied in the exact way you might expect: in the comment section of a post on Instagram.

We’ll see if Brady ends up deferring any longer than just this year when the 2024 season rolls around. In the meantime, Fox is in pretty good hands with its coverage of NFL games, as Greg Olsen received praise for his work in the booth throughout the previous season. Olsen will team up with Kevin Burkhardt as Fox’s No. 1 broadcast pairing this season as they wait on Brady.

Prince’s Estate Is Opening His Vault For Its Annual Paisley Park Celebration And Giving Fans Tours

Each year, Paisley Park, Prince‘s home and production studio holds its Celebration, honoring Prince’s impact and legacy. In 2023, the Celebration will take place on June 8-11 with appearances from the likes of Chaka Khan, Chuck D, The Steels, and Sounds Of Blackness. However, the biggest selling point of the announcement is being met with a mixed reception.

While the Prince Legacy Tribute show is definitely a draw, Prince’s estate has announced that it’ll be opening the singer’s legendary vault for tours of the complex, presenting some of his unreleased music. The number seven is said to feature prominently in the proceedings, as it’s the seventh anniversary of his death on April 21, 2016, and the number seven was significant to him throughout his life — he was born on June 7, and frequently referenced the number in his music.

A statement released by Paisley Park touches on the power of this digit in Prince’s life, reading, “This year marks 7 years of uplifting Prince’s legacy and carefully preserving his prolific artistic output and his creative sanctuary. At Celebration 2023, guests will take a deep dive into understanding the cultural significance of 7 and how it has been reflected throughout history.”

However, some fans misread the news on Twitter, believing that “opening the vault” means releasing music he never wanted the public to hear and disrespecting his wishes. It doesn’t seem that that is completely the case, but it does sound like there’s a possibility some of his unreleased work will finally be heard. Whether that’s a good thing depends on where you stand on statements he made before his death.

You can find more information about Celebration 2023 here.

Michael Shannon (Kind Of) Comes To The Defense Of His ‘Flash’ Co-Star Ezra Miller

There was (and still is) a lot of controversy surrounding the upcoming Flash installment, even aside from everything that has been going on over at WB. The main drama involves the film’s star Ezra Miller, who had their fair share of run-ins with the law over the last few years. From potentially starting a cult to being arrested multiple times, Miller has been making headlines for some time now. This led many to believe that they would be recast in the upcoming Flash movie, but that turned out the be false.

Michael Shannon, who portrays General Zod in The Flash, addressed the controversies while still explaining how tough it is to navigate these kinds of situations. “I thought Ezra was lovely — very kind to me when I was there,” Shannon recently told Vanity Fair. “It’s difficult to talk about, but I always give people a lot of slack in this business, because there’s a lot of people in this business that have issues. And some people have more privacy than others.”

Despite Miller’s various controversies, the Flash star’s team announced that Miller is committed to “getting better” and has not made any public statements, seemingly retracting from the spotlight. Shannon says he feels for them. “Any time somebody is out in the spotlight getting picked on, I feel for them. Even if it’s warranted, it’s still a horrible situation.”

For now, let’s all come together and celebrate some goodness that is coming from this movie: JLo will probably be forced to watch it just like the rest of us. And that’s beautiful.

The Flash zooms into theaters on June 16th.

When Does ‘Yellowstone’ Season 5 Part 1 Come To Streaming?

Paramount recently announced that the flagship Yellowstone show (starring Kevin Costner) will end after Season 5 concludes. The season, which was already reported to be Costner’s last rodeo with the franchise, will likely begin shooting its final episodes (Season 5 Part 2) in August with a premiere date sometime in November. From there, though, viewers will want to know where they can catch up on Season 5 Part 1 if they haven’t done so already.

The answer to that question is a complicated one. The various Yellowstone prequels stream immediately on Paramount+, but Peacock is where the main Yellowstone series lands for streaming. And Peacock has yet to announce a date when Season 5 will start to flow under its own subscriptions that begin at $4.99 per month. Hopefully, that will be soon. However, Season 5 Part 1 is currently already available to stream on Philo and Sling TV, so it’s worth looking at their trial/introductory packages if you cannot wait any longer.

Either that, or you can go watch the 1923 and 1883 prequels again on Paramount+. And if you’re feeling particularly adventurous, there are several more Taylor Sheridan shows already available or coming soon on Paramount+. This will eventually include a Yellowstone sequel that may or may not star Matthew McConaughey. Additionally, Tulsa King and Mayor Of Kingstown are pleasing audiences with more to come. Otherwise, hang tight, and Peacock should have some updated streaming news soon.

Jaw-dropping NASA video shows just how monstrous supermassive black holes really are

It’s almost impossible to really comprehend just how tiny the whole of humanity is against the enormously vast universe. But every so often, thanks to folks at NASA, we get jaw-dropping, awe-inspired video proof of it.

On May 3, NASA released an animated video to YouTube highlighting ten known supermassive black holes scattered throughout the cosmos, comparing their various sizes to familiar celestial bodies in our own solar system.

Noting the utter enormity of these fascinating objects, NASA wrote, “These monsters lurk in the centers of most big galaxies, including our own Milky Way, and contain between 100,000 and tens of billions of times more mass than our Sun.”

In just under 90 seconds, we take a journey through space with these galactic behemoths, starting with a black hole named J1601+3113, containing the mass of 100,000 suns, and ending with TON 618, which contains more than 60 billion solar masses.

Behold:

Awestruck? Terrified? A bit of both? You’re not alone. That was the general consensus in the comments section.

“Just swallowed my brain.”

“We are nothing in this universe but we still have so much ego to be proud of and fight for material things….”

“Mind-blowing.”

“Chills. Bravo!”

“Nobody knows anything anymore…..We’re literally ants.”

“Mind blown overwhelmed and scary.”

Everyone might have a general concept of what a black hole is, but in many ways these phenomena remain a mystery. Catching real glimpses of their actual power is a rare, profound and often humbling experience. Same could probably be said of most space matters.

It can be so easy to get caught up in the constant dilemmas in our own world (out of necessity, much of the time). Sometimes all it takes is a larger view to infuse a little more awe back into our lives.

Priyanka Chopra Explained How Nick Jonas ‘Sealed The Deal’ With Her By Using His Musical Talents

As part of the fraternal band Jonas Brothers, Nick Jonas has been in the public eye since childhood, spawning imaginary romantic relationships with thousands of fans worldwide. However, after tying the knot with actress Priyanka Chopra in 2018, he’s happily been off the dating market.

After welcoming their first child into the world last year, the couple’s fairy tale love story has only gotten more intense, according to the pair. During her recent appearance on SiriusXM’s The Howard Stern Show in promotion of her new Prime Video film Citadel, Chopra gushed about their whirlwind romance with the host. When asked what it’s like to date a musician and if she’s ever the muse to his release, the star admitted that Nick “sealed the deal” by writing a song about her.

“[Nick] plays this song and uses words and phrases that are very me and phrases that I’ve used. I didn’t want to presume it, so I didn’t say anything. I was like, ‘Oh, that’s an awesome song.’ He was like, ‘Yeah, does it sound familiar?’ And I was like, ‘A few words.’ He’s like, ‘Well, I wrote this for you,’” said Chopra confessing, “This is what sealed the deal.”

Chopra continued, “[Nick] said, ‘Look, I’m not a man of too many words, but my songs will be my love letters to you.”

‘Veep’ Showrunner David Mandel Explains Why The Writers’ Strike Is ‘Going To Be Long And Bloody, And It’s Going To Suck’

With members of the Writers Guild of America on strike, Veep and White House Plumbers showrunner David Mandel offered his take on the situation, and it’s not pretty. With a writing career that stretches decades, including a stint on Seinfeld, Mandel has a keen understanding of the entertainment industry, and he doesn’t like how many writers he’s seen struggling in recent years.

“I’m not talking about COVID. I’m talking the changes are not working,” Mandel said. “They are scrounging for jobs in a way that doesn’t make sense to me. I don’t know what else to say. It does not make sense.”

As Mandel sees it, the writers are being punished for bad decisions made by the networks, particularly the massive push towards streaming content.

Via The Wrap:

“They don’t value us. They don’t care. They worry about stock prices and debt sheets,” Mandel said. “And the irony is that their debt sheets and their stock prices are in the toilet because they’ve made business decisions like, ‘Hey, let’s get rid of the cable money and go all in on streaming.’ I did not tell them to do that. I don’t remember the writers getting consulted on that. So when these guys are at the bargaining table pleading poverty based on their own terrible decision-making — they’re never going to admit they messed up their own businesses. And now they’re trying to take it out on the writers.”

With the fight over paying writers a living wage in the era of streaming in full swing, Mandel doesn’t see an easy end to the strike.

“I have no good answer, except to say, I think it’s going to be long and bloody, and it’s going to suck.”

Donald Trump Jr. Still Thinks One Of His Dad’s Most Offensive (And Weirdest) Tweets Is Hilarious

If Donald Trump could eat nothing but Big Macs and Filet-O-Fish sandwiches (or as he bizarrely calls them, “Fish Delights”), he would. But occasionally he switches his diet up, and adds a taco bowl to the menu.

Not just any taco bowl, however. It was seven years ago today that then-president Trump wrote one of his most infamous tweets: “Happy #CincoDeMayo! The best taco bowls are made in Trump Tower Grill. I love Hispanics!” The poorly-lit photo is the proverbial scoop of sour cream on top.

There’s a lot of terrible things about that tweet, like how “taco bowls aren’t Mexican but rather an American invention,” as NPR reported, and “Mexican-Americans are just one subset of “Hispanics,” and not all Hispanic cultures identify with tacos or Cinco de Mayo.” But worst of all is how much delight it brings Donald Trump Jr., Trump’s son who probably still thinks Chuck Norris jokes are funny. He reshared the tweet today, and found a way to make it even more offensive.

Trump’s tweet was roundly criticized at the time.

Janet Murguia, president of the National Council of La Raza, the nation’s largest Hispanic civil rights organization, tweeted a short time later that the Republican presidential front-runner’s post was “clueless, offensive and self-promoting.”

“Eating a taco or wearing a sombrero doesn’t cut it w/our community in 2016,” Murguia tweeted.

At least he isn’t handing out taco bowls to his supporters like slices of pizza.
