A Baby Crawled On Stage At NMIXX’s Concert, Worrying Many Attendees And The Performers Themselves

Concert etiquette has been a bit off since the pandemic. Fans hold their phones up to record the whole show, some chuck cameras at the performer on the stage. However, at the show for the South Korean K-pop group NMIXX on Tuesday (May 2) in Seattle, Washington, something even more unexpected happened.

A video of a baby — yes, a human baby — crawling onto the stage in the midst of the concert went viral on Twitter. Member Kyujin looked concerned as she hurried to pick up the baby and hand it to the mother at the edge of the stage. However, the area is so crowded and everyone’s hands are reaching for the star — it’s chaos.

An attendee shared more about the situation in a Twitter thread, explaining that the mother kept the baby in its stroller by security with noise-canceling headphones for most of the performance, until the baby woke up and the NMIXX members began interacting with fans.

Fans of NMIXX call out the mother in the quote-tweets for not taking the necessary precautions to keeping the baby safe at the gig. Others complain that the baby was simply a tool for the parent to get attention from the musicians. Either way, we can all agree that babies do not belong in such riled-up, frenzied environments. Simple concert etiquette!

A Pixies Song Has Been Accidentally Turning Off People’s Phone Alarms And The Band Is Sorry About That

At least one person has been unintentionally sleeping in recently and they have Pixies to blame.

As Android Police reports, not long ago, Google introduced a new feature to Android phones, which allows users to turn off alarms by saying commands like “stop” or “snooze.” One Reddit user found a strange bug in the process, though. In a recent post on the r/GooglePixel subreddit, they explained how for the past few months, on seemingly random days, their alarm would either not work or turn off very quickly.

They continued, “Well this morning, I woke up about 5 minutes before my alarm went off, and I have cracked the code. The alarm is set to play a Spotify playlist, and one of the songs on that playlist is ‘Where is My Mind’ by the Pixies. If you know the first line of that song, you may know where I’m going with this… The first line in the song is ‘Ooohhh STOP’, with the word ‘stop’ said very clearly. My Pixel has been hearing that ‘stop’ and turning the alarm off. Since it’s a playlist on shuffle, it only comes up every once in a while, so it’s not happening every morning.”

Android Police shared a video of this in action:

Pixies themselves have since acknowledged the situation, sharing the article on Twitter and writing, “Sorry about that!”

As Android Police notes, other songs that feature a clear and prominent “stop” in their lyrics don’t seem to have the same effect as “Where Is My Mind,” including the Hollies’ “Stop Stop Stop,” the Supremes’ “Stop! In The Name Of Love,” Queen’s “Don’t Stop Me Now,” Jane’s Addiction’s “Stop,” MC Hammer’s “U Can’t Touch This,” and Vanilla Ice’s “Ice Ice Baby.” They did note, though, “‘Where Is My Mind’ is unique in the fact that its ‘Stop!’ comes before music really starts playing.”

It Looks Like A K-Pop Favorite Will Voice Halle Bailey’s ‘The Little Mermaid’ Role In The Korean Dub

Much has been made about the upcoming The Little Mermaid remake (set for May 26) and Halle Bailey’s leading role in it. Not all fans around the world will get to experience her complete performance, though. Disney is, of course, a global brand, so The Little Mermaid will be available on non-English territories. Various dubbed versions of the movie will be presented around the world, and for the South Korean version, it looks like they got Danielle, of K-pop group NewJeans, to voice Bailey’s role.

As Billboard reports, Disney Korea shared a teaser poster on May 1, which teased who would be voicing Ariel with a blank outlined figure. Fans quickly figured out, though, that the figure was indeed Danielle, even finding the exact photo used for the silhouette.

Furthermore, a snippet of Danielle singing the classic Little Mermaid song “Part Of Your World” in Korean also surfaced.

Danielle, NewJeans, Disney, or anybody else involved have officially announced/confirmed Danielle’s role as of yet.

Elsewhere, it’s been a strong 2023 for NewJeans so far. In January, they landed their first song on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. A couple months later, the group’s Hanni got to visit a Trader Joe’s store for the first time and she was beyond excited about it.

Happy May 4th To Darth Vader’s Best Friend, Admiral Piett

Over the weekend I went to see the 40th-anniversary re-release of Return of the Jedi (released a month before its actual anniversary for some reason). It’s weird because it seems like a movie I’ve seen in theaters a lot, but as best as I can remember, this was the first time since the Special Edition release in 1997. For the most part*, this was an enjoyable experience and a nice way to spend the afternoon. Though, while watching, I had a bit of an epiphany about the relationship between two characters. Maybe it was being able to see these interactions blown up on a huge screen? But it finally hit me that Darth Vader’s best friend is Admiral Piett. Now, Piett might not feel that way, but I’m fairly convinced Vader feels that way about Piett.

(*I have to admit, it’s quite jarring when you forget about the whole Jedi Rocks sequence and then it starts. The original music by the Max Rebo band sounds like something from a Star Wars movie and is in the spirit from what we hear from the Modal Nodes in the original Star Wars. Jedi Rocks sounds like if The Mighty Mighty Bosstones were hired to play a gig for Jabba the Hutt.)

First of all, Darth Vader seems like a lonely guy. No wonder he’s so interested in finding Luke and turning him to the dark side so they can rule the galaxy as father and son, Darth Vader has no friends. If Luke agrees to this, that’s a built-in friend right there. In The Empire Strikes Back, Vader seems pretty excited about this as he’s telling Luke, basically, “Hey, we can get rid of the guy who has been riding me and you and I can have some fun. Sound good, buddy?” I love that he even adds that the Emperor has foreseen this and is cool with being overthrown, just to let Luke know this shouldn’t even be a hassle. Anyway, after watching Return of the Jedi again in theaters, as things stand without Luke by his side ruling the galaxy together as father and son, I’m convinced Vader thinks Admiral Piett is his friend. Maybe his only friend. Actually, for sure his only friend. The Emperor sure isn’t Vader’s friend.

Piett had quite an interesting ride in the Star Wars movies, basically becoming the Wedge of the Empire. In that, not many supporting characters from the Galactic Empire or the Rebel Alliance survive multiple movies. So, that alone makes Piett unique. We first meet Captain Piett in The Empire Strikes Back standing next to the doomed Admiral Ozzel who came out of light speed too close to Hoth, allowing the Rebel Alliance to raise their shields.* Vader for sure does not feel Ozzel is his best friend and quickly dispenses of Ozzel, over Zoom somehow, and promotes a shocked Piett to Admiral on the spot. A sign of true friendship.

(*This is a pretty nifty plot trick to justify the use of AT-ATs during the events of the movie as opposed to, “Well let’s just bomb them.” I wish Return of the Jedi had done something similar with the rescue of Han Solo. The novelization mentions there’s a blockade surrounding Tatooine because the Empire knows the Rebel Alliance will come for Solo, hence just a few key players making their way to Jabba’s to activate a plan that makes no sense in any way.)

Another sign of friendship? Piett is let into Vader’s meditation chamber room before his helmet is even back on. From Piett’s reaction, this is not a normal occurrence. This is Vader letting Piett know, hey, we are friends, I want you to see the real me. Again, at this point, I do not think Piett realizes Vader wants to be his friend. But this is an intimate moment for Vader and there’s no way he just lets anyone see him without a helmet on. Piett then tells Vader they lost the Millennium Falcon because of an asteroid field. For anyone else, this would get the Force-choke. (Just ask Captain Needa. Oh, no, you can’t, he was Force-choked to death.) But Piett gets almost a pep talk. At least, the closest thing Vader will give to a pep talk when he says, “Asteroids do not concern me, Admiral. I want that ship, not excuses.” In response, Piett doesn’t seem scared, just reinvigorated. Telling Vader they’ll get them. Again, here, Vader saw that his friend was down in the dumps over a work issue and said the right thing to get Piett back on track. And you know what? They eventually did get the Millennium Falcon. Well, until it got away again.

At the end of The Empire Strikes Back, as R2-D2 fixes the hyperdrive on Millennium Falcon, Piett is ordering the use of the tractor beam as Vader looks on as the Millennium Falcon zooms away. Now, Vader has already Force-choked two Imperial officers during the course of this movie. Obviously, Piett is next. But, instead, Vader just walks away. Here, Piett has a look on his face that reads, “Hm, am I friends with Darth Vader? Is that why he didn’t kill me?”

The scene that drives this home for me is in Return of the Jedi when Shuttle Tydirium is asking for access to the forest moon of Endor. In a surprisingly chummy scene, at least for Darth Vader standards, Vader asks about the cargo on the ship that is pretty obviously filled with members of the Rebel Alliance. Piett tells Vader he was about to clear them because they have a working code, but he does make mention it’s an older code. (I’ve always wondered what that means. Don’t codes either work or not? Though, on our internal human resources homepage I do sometimes get a warning that my code will expire in a certain amount of days and I need to change it soon. I suppose this is the same thing, I’m being told my code still works but it’s old now and won’t for much longer. So maybe that’s what Piett saw? Something like, “This code will expire in five days and the Shuttle Tydirium should change their code soon.”)

Vader contemplates, and Piett just interrupt Vader’s deep thoughts and asks, “Shall I hold them?,” in a very cordial and friendly way. Vader isn’t even angry about this. And here’s where this scene really gets me. Vader, normally, would probably just say, “Let them through,” then storm off. But here he let’s Piett in on his plan for no reason, telling Piett he’ll deal with them himself. Piett has a look on his face that he and his pal Darth Vader just worked on a fun project together. As Vader walks off here, I have no doubt that Vader considers Piett a friend. As far as Piett, my guess is, over drinks off duty, when he’s asked if he and Vader are friends, he says something like, “Well, I wouldn’t go that far. I’d say we are friendly. If he’s in town I wouldn’t call him to make plans, but if he asks me I’ll say yes.”

Sadly, Piett would meet his end soon by the hands of an out-of-control A-Wing Fighter. Piett’s last command was to fortify the front of his Star Destroyer to avoid just that very thing, but his command was not followed quickly enough. This is why Vader befriended Piett. If all his officers were as good as Piett, the Empire would still be in charge.

Stevie Nicks Joked That She Predicted Sheryl Crow’s Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame Induction

The Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame unveiled its 2023 class on Wednesday morning. The performer category includes Missy Elliott, Willie Nelson, Sheryl Crow, Kate Bush, Rage Against The Machine, George Michael, and The Spinners.

Bush was “completely shocked,” Missy “cried all morning,” and Nelson was “honored.”

Crow received celebratory cupcakes from “the best kids in the world,” and she was featured in a video shared by the Rock Hall shortly after the announcement.

“I’m already thinking of all the people that I need to thank whose shoulders I have stood upon, from Eric Clapton to clearly Stevie Nicks and Linda Ronstadt. Bonnie Raitt, who was one of the first people I ever saw — a woman playing a guitar. Were it not for her, I wouldn’t be … out there rocking with a guitar,” she said in the video. She also referenced Elton John, but acknowledged she couldn’t possibly single out everyone who helped get her to this point.

However, Nicks took the time to type out an open letter to Crow on Instagram:

“My Dearest Sheryl ~
Yes, you can call me psychic ~ I have been listening to Sheryl Crow radio on Pandora for the last 4 days ~ so many of our memories came flooding back~ And so my friend — Congratulations, Miz Crow for your upcoming induction into the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame~ I am so proud of you~ It’s a very elite club for us women. I found out at 4 o’clock this morning and had to dance around my room for you. See you on the road! Love you, Stevie”

Crow commented, “If it were not for you, Stevie Nicks, there would be no me. You inspire me and you make me want to inspire others. I love you and I’m blessed to know you.”

As relayed by Variety, this year’s honorees “will be celebrated in an induction ceremony and concert to take place November 3 at Barclays Center in Brooklyn. A media partner is expected to be named soon, since the hall’s contract with HBO has expired.”

Missy Elliott is a Warner Music artist. Uproxx is an independent subsidiary of Warner Music Group.

Failed GOP Candidate Herschel Walker May Have Committed Wire Fraud By Ripping Off A Billionaire Of Over Half A Million

It’s been a while since we heard from Herschel Walker. Much like fellow failed GOP candidate Dr. Oz, he at least had the decency to drop out of sight after losing in November. (But at least Dr. Oz helped out after the devastating Turkey earthquake, which is genuinely decent.) Walker was plagued with one creative scandal (or humiliation) after another. Now, some six months later, he’s embroiled in another.

The Daily Beast dropped a bombshell piece on Wednesday that unearthed emails showing Walker had asked representatives for a billionaire donor — with whom he had a long history, including family vacations — for over $500,000 in March of 2022. That donor, industrialist Dennis Washington, assumed they were political contributions. But they were actually for HR Talent, LLC, Walker’s personal company — a company never disclosed on his financial statements.

“In the best possible circumstances, legal experts told The Daily Beast, the emails suggest exponential violations of federal fundraising rules,” writes The Daily Beast. But “in the worst case, they could be an indication of more serious crimes, such as wire fraud.”

What’s more, the amount Walker was asking for — over half a million dollars — was far in excess of federal limits. That he was allegedly converting said campaign contributions to personal use is also in violation of federal law.

Legal experts seem baffled by the audacity of what Walker may have done. One said if Walker “used the campaign to funnel money into his own business, that’s one of the biggest campaign finance crimes I’ve ever heard of.”

There’s more in The Daily Beast’s report, including that Washington gave Walker another $500,000, this time going directly into his super PAC. Walker hit up Washington again that November, this time asking for another $100,000. And to think it all ended in an embarrassing defeat for the candidate who once admitted he wasn’t sure how many states were in the U.S.

Fireboy DML Brings A Special ‘Someone’ On Tour For A Whirlwind Love In His New Video

Fireboy DML teamed with Ed Sheeran for a “Peru” remix to close out 2021 and carried those vibes into 2022 with another “Peru” remix alongside 21 Savage and Blxst. He got a little bit later of a start on 2023, but it’s worth the wait.

“Thank you for your patience, always,” Fireboy DML wrote to Instagram on Wednesday, May 3. “My first single this year, ‘Someone’ audio and video out now! Let’s go [four rocket emojis].”

The pulsating track is accompanied by an intimate video directed by Bruno Marin.

The five-minute video opens by setting the scene in Warsaw, Poland. Fireboy is preparing to be met by countless excited fans on stage. The faces in the crowd have nothing on the woman he’s kicking it with backstage. We see vignettes of the perks of tour life — from Hamburg, Germany to Berlin, Germany — but nobody nor nothing makes Fireboy light up like one-on-one time with her.

“But if you leave / What happens to me?” Fireboy DML softly sings. “Where do I find someone, someone / Someone to love me?”

And midway through the video, Fireboy’s fears come to fruition. They hit a snag. She interrupts one of Fireboy’s rehearsals and asks, “What’s going on?” He’s confused, but she doesn’t let up: “What the hell are you doing? You’re an a**hole. Why did you make me come here? I don’t even know why I’m here.”

She bolts out, and he’s left baffled before chasing after her. He asks her what’s going on, and she’s incredulous that he can’t figure out for himself why she’s upset.

“You flew me from Italy to join you on tour, and this is the treatment I’m receiving,” she says.

Fireboy DML tries to apologize, sort of, but it’s not warmly received. He’s tired of making sacrifices, which predictably is also not received well. But by the end, they’ve worked through it and resume their honeymoon phase.

The fast-paced, tour-themed video juxtaposes what Fireboy DML described as his natural demeanor to Rolling Stone last year.

“I’ve always been reclusive, placing priority on solitude, having alone time, and I’ve never really been the going-out person,” he said. “Growing as a person and into the industry, seeing things, I realized how important it is to hold on to that part of me that always seeks solitude after a long period of time of exchanging energy out there.”

50 Cent Devoted His Instagram To A Presumed ‘Get Rich Or Die Tryin’ Anniversary Countdown Clock

Before 50 Cent began building his sprawling universe, which should eventually include Lady Danger on Amazon Freevee, he laid the foundation with his 2003 debut album, Get Rich Or Die Tryin’. Uproxx celebrated its 20th anniversary in February by ranking the 34 best 50 Cent songs.

“I want you to understand something about this. I am in no way, shape, or form exaggerating in even the teeny tiniest little bit when I say that this album F*CKED THE GAME UP,” Uproxx‘s Aaron Williams wrote. “We talk a lot in this business about ‘groundbreaking,’ ‘earth-shattering,’ or even paradigm-shifting albums. Usually, that’s a bunch of nonsense. But this time? This time, it’s all the way real.”

50 appears to understand the significance of his seminal project.

On Wednesday, May 3, he posted a 24-hour countdown clock labeled “20 Years Later…,” and the only logical conclusion is that it’s related to Get Rich Or Die Tryin’.

It’s the only post on 50 Cent’s Instagram grid. He also shared the semi-mysterious clock to his Instagram Story and on Twitter.

In February, 50 marked the official 20th anniversary by making autographies vinyls of Get Rich Or Die Tryin’ available for seven days.

“20 years ago today, I dropped the largest debuting hip-hop album of all time,” he captioned a since-deleted Instagram post on February 6, as captured by HipHopDX. “Here’s Your chance to Own a piece of History!”

For the record, 50 Cent has gotten very rich in the decades since.

Does ‘Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 3’ Have Post-Credit Scenes?

Ever since Iron Man, which featured its hero getting a surprise visit from Samuel L. Jackson’s Nick Fury, the MCU has loved them an end credits scene. Sometimes they set up future adventures, often cryptically so. Other times they’re just gags, like the silent shawarma feast at the end of the first Avengers. Sometimes there’s just one. Many times there’s not only a post-credits scene but a mid-credits scene. Or two. Or three. Or four.

So with Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, it’s not so much a question of if it has a post-credits bumper so much as does it have a post-credit scene and a mid-credits scene. And of the latter, does it have more than one?

The answer is: It has one of each. There’s a mid-credits scene, then when all the credits are over, there’s one more. We wouldn’t dream of telling you what they are. But suffice to say, when they end, so ends the Guardians saga, at least with this cast (or most of them), and definitely with James Gunn, who’s off to even bigger and even brighter things.

As you may recall, the original Guardians movie had one of each, too: The first had Baby Groot dancing, and the second introduced Benicio del Toro’s The Collector, as well as brief glimpses of Marvel characters Cosmo the Spacedog and Howard the Duck. Vol. 2 had a whopping four mid-credits scenes and a final post-credits one. But we won’t list all of those.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 hits theaters on May 5.
