Tucker Carlson’s Bulls**t Has Gotten Fox News Sued Yet Again

Despite being fired by Fox News earlier this year, Tucker Carlson is still causing all kinds of legal trouble for his former network.

On Wednesday, a man named Ray Epps filed a lawsuit accusing Carlson and Fox News of defamation after the host repeatedly regurgitated a bizarre conspiracy theory about the Marine Corp. veteran. On his show, Carlson accused Epps — a two-time Trump voter — of being a government agent who orchestrated acts of violence during the Jan. 6th insurrection in order to essentially frame Trump and his supporters. Epps took part in the mob that entered the Capitol building that day, encouraging others to march with him and push past police barricades. But, according to his lawyer, he did so only after listening to Fox News pundits — namely Carlson — tell viewers that the election was stolen and MAGA patriots should protest its results in Washington D.C.

The conspiracy surrounding Epps’ role in the attack came after the Arizona native escaped federal charges lobbed at fellow insurrectionists despite video footage proving he was on the front lines of the assault. He’s since been questioned by authorities and the Jan. 6th committee on his role in the siege and, in May, the Justice Department informed Epps he would be facing criminal charges at some point in the future.

Until then, Epps is spending his time going after Fox News and Carlson for damaging his character, spreading baseless conspiracies that led to death threats against his family and the loss of his business. He’s currently seeking an unspecified amount in damages but he’s filed his suit in the Superior Court in Delaware — the same court that ordered the network to pay a $787.5 million settlement in a defamation case brought by Dominion Voting Systems.

“Just as Fox had focused on voting machine companies when falsely claiming a rigged election, Fox knew it needed a scapegoat for January 6th,” Epps’ complaint reads. “It settled on Ray Epps and began promoting the lie that Epps was a federal agent who incited the attack on the Capitol.”

“Ray is taking the next steps to vindicate his rights by seeking accountability for Fox’s lies that have caused him and Robyn [his wife] so much harm,” his lawyer said.

It’s almost as if fact-checking bonkers Parler threads before spewing them all over national television as undeniable truth is actually good journalistic practice that can save your network millions of dollars. Who knew?

You can watch the recent 60 Minutes segment on Ray Epps below. Seems like he has a pretty strong case!

These Photos Will Hype You Up For The World-Class House Music Extravaganza That Is Defected Croatia

This year’s festival season is already well on its way to becoming one for the books — as festival organizers set up for bigger and better programming on all fronts to make up for lost time during the pandemic. From Lightning in a Bottle’s “transformational” mega-dance party, Sunset Music Festival’s vibrantly fashioned house and bass heads, to the wet and wild luxuries of Splash House, some of this summer’s best parties are already behind us. But fear not, there’s a whole lot more in store.

Defected Records’ flagship festival, Defected Croatia, returns August 3-8. Known for uniting world-class talent from across the globe, Defected Croatia will treat this year’s attendees with six days of house music hedonism in Tisno, Croatia. Set across four stages overlooking the Adriatic coast, Defected Croatia will ring in its seventh edition event with over 100 artist performances, including A-Trak, Honey Dijon, Hannah Wants, Honeyluv, LP Giobbi, Nightmares On Wax, SG Lewis, Sam Divine, TSHA, and more.

Oh, and did we mention there are 24 boat parties? Seems like a lot of boat parties.

If you want to swap a day of luxury partying at Defected Hotel or the beach cabins, you can choose to dance offshore on one of the four boat parties each day. Each boat features a two-story floating dancefloor oasis topped with its own bar, so it’s basically the best hangover rally ever. Perfect after nights spent partying at the festival’s official after-party club — Barbarellas — until 6 am each night.

With a week-long program of all things house, Defected Croatia wouldn’t be complete without an impressive wellness program. With daily yoga classes and mindfulness sessions to help balance out the late nights, 5,000 attendees will be flourishing under the Croatian sun this August.

To help get you ready for what to expect, we gathered up some photos from last year’s Defected Croatia. Let’s just say, the FOMO from last year is real and we’re not about to have it again for this year. Get your passes for Defected Croatia here, check out the photos below, and prepare yourself for the week-long extravagant house music spectacle.

The Best American Vodkas Under $20, Blind Tasted And Power Ranked

Let’s get this out of the way up top — to say that vodka is flavorless is simply not true. While some vodkas are distilled to have a clean, neutral aroma and flavors and some bottom-shelf vodka taste like nothing but liquid heat, many feature complex flavor profiles. Depending on the ingredients and the distillation process, they might have sweet flavors, peppery notes, vegetal aromas, or a star a wide-range of other subtle (but noticable!) compounds.

To prove it, I once again turned to the tried-and-true blind taste test. But I didn’t want to pick high-end expressions that are known for their depth. Instead, I opted for lower-end-but-still-solid bottles. I picked eight vodkas that are all under $20 yet are still flavorful enough to find a home on your bar cart as a mixer or neat sipper. Keep scrolling to see the selections and how they stacked up.

Today’s Lineup:

  • Deep Eddy Vodka
  • American Plains Vodka
  • Opulent Vodka
  • UV Vodka
  • Tower Vodka
  • New Amsterdam
  • Pinnacle Vodka
  • Skyy Vodka

Part 1: Under $20 Blind Vodka Tasting

Taste #1

Vodka 1
Christopher Osburn

Tasting Notes:

If you’re looking for vodka with little to no aroma, you’re in the right place. This vodka has a light fruity aroma, but literally nothing else. The palate continues this trend. There are light lemon peels, fruit, and an earthy, mineral flavor. Otherwise, it’s pretty flavorless.

Taste #2

Vodka 7
Christopher Osburn

Tasting Notes:

There’s a ton of herbal, almost menthol mint on the nose as well as some peppery spice. Drinking it reveals more pepper, a hint of citrus, and more mint. The finish is lightly bitter, peppery, and very warming. All in all, an interesting vodka.

Taste #3

Vodka 3
Christopher Osburn

Tasting Notes:

This is a surprisingly sweet vodka with a ton of sweet corn and light vanilla. The palate continues this trend with more sweet corn, vanilla beans, and a nice kick of cracked black pepper. It’s sweet, spicy, and gently warming at the finish.

Taste #4

Vodka 4
Christopher Osburn

Tasting Notes:

This vodka’s nose is sort of bland. It really just smelled the way you imagine vodka to smell. Neutral grain spirit to the max. The palate was equally uninspired. It was slightly herbal and fruity but had way too much peppery heat. This is a harsh vodka you’d definitely not want to drink neat.

Taste #5

Vodka 5
Christopher Osburn

Tasting Notes:

Complex aromas of ripe berries, vanilla beans, sweet corn, and gentle spices make for a great nose. There’s more sweet corn on the palate as ripe fruit, vanilla beans, and just a wisp of pepper at the finish. All in all, a pleasantly sweet, mellow vodka.

Taste #6

Vodka 6
Christopher Osburn

Tasting Notes:

The nose is citrus-driven, but not much else. Drinking it reveals lemon peels, some fruit, and a ton of sweet corn. There’s also an herbal flavor and a good hint of pepper. Overall, while there seem to be a ton of flavors intermingling, they’re all kind of muted and unexciting.

Taste #7

Vodka 2
Christopher Osburn

Tasting Notes:

There’s a very sweet, fruity, almost corny aroma on the nose. It’s very appealing, albeit not overly exciting. The palate is more fruit, maybe some citrus, and more ripe sweet corn. There’s also a bit of pepper that works its way throughout. Overall, a very mellow, sweet, and spicy vodka.

Taste #8

Vodka 8
Christopher Osburn

Tasting Notes:

There are notes of orange and lemon on the nose along with wet grass. The palate has more citrus as well as a mineral and herbal flavor. The finish is fairly smooth with more citrus and a little heat. Not a bad sip of vodka.

Part 2: The Rankings

8) UV Vodka (Taste 4)

UV Vodka
UV

ABV: 40%

Average Price: $12

The Vodka:

Everyone who enjoys vodka on the cheap knows about the magic that is UV Vodka. The brand makes myriad flavored budget-friendly vodkas. But its classic vodka is distilled four times before being filtered through activated carbon. This was designed to create a clean, mixing vodka.

Bottom Line:

If you buy a bottle of unflavored UV, you’re going to want to add it to a cocktail featuring strong flavors. On its own, it’s just not great.

7) Opulent Vodka (Taste 6)

Opulent Vodka
Opulent Vodka

ABV: 40%

Average Price: $18

The Vodka:

This vodka brand really wants you to believe you’re pouring luxury out of its bottle. But it’s simply corned-based vodka that was distilled five times. It’s known for its soft, smooth, easy-drinking nature, but isn’t remotely as fancy as the name would make you believe.

Bottom Line:

This is a decent vodka for mixing or sipping (if you’re not really looking for a ton of flavor). Otherwise, move along and try something different.

6) Skyy Vodka (Taste 1)

Skyy Vodka
Skyy Vodka

ABV: 40%

Average Price: $14

The Vodka:

Skyy Vodka has been around since 1992. This San Francisco-based vodka is distilled four times and filtered three times before it even enters the bottle. The result is a smooth, clean base for your favorite vodka-based cocktails.

Bottom Line:

There’s no denying that this is a smooth vodka. It’s just that’s pretty much all there is to it. It’s borderline flavorless.

5) New Amsterdam Vodka (Taste 8)

New Amsterdam Vodka
New Amsterdam

ABV: 40%

Average Price: $12

The Vodka:

While it’s called New Amsterdam, the grains used for this vodka come from the Midwest. While there are some other grains included, it’s mostly a corn-based vodka (95 percent). It’s triple-distilled to smooth it out.

Bottom Line:

While you wouldn’t necessarily buy this vodka for its sipping ability, you could do much worse. Plus, it’s a decent vodka to use as a cocktail base.

4) Deep Eddy Vodka (Taste 2)

Deep Eddy Vodka
Deep Eddy Vodka

ABV: 40%

Average Price: $17

The Vodka:

Named for a swimming hole in Austin, Texas, Deep Eddy is a 100 percent corn-based vodka that’s distilled a full ten times and filtered another eight times. Naturally gluten free, it’s known for its exceptionally crisp, clean flavor.

Bottom Line:

This herbal, minty, lightly spicy vodka would make the perfect base for your favorite hot sauce-filled bloody Mary.

3) Tower Vodka (Taste 3)

Tower Vodka
Tower Vodka

ABV: 40%

Average Price: $17

The Vodka:

Another vodka proving that Texas is hitting its stride when it comes to the clear spirit is Tower. This award-winning, corn-based vodka from the Lonestar State is distilled six times. This creates a sweet, easy-drinking vodka you won’t soon forget.

Bottom Line:

This is definitely the vodka for drinkers who prefer a little sweet with their heat. It has the perfect combination of sweetness and spice.

2) Tito’s Vodka (Taste 7)

Tito’s Vodka
Tito’s Vodka

ABV: 40%

Average Price: $19

The Vodka:

When it comes to American vodka, there are few brands as well-known as Tito’s Vodka. Even with its notoriety, it manages to still be a fairly inexpensive brand. That’s because it’s simply made with water, sugar, and corn. Another vodka from Texas, it’s also naturally gluten free.

Bottom Line:

There’s a reason Tito’s is a wildly popular vodka. It’s sweet, spicy, flavorful, and surprisingly cheap (don’t tell Tito).

1) American Plains Vodka (Tate 5)

American Plains Vodka
American Plains Vodka

ABV: 40%

Average Price: $14

The Vodka:

American Plains Vodka gets its name because it’s literally produced in Princeton, Minnesota. Made from 100% corn and water from an on-site aquifer, it gets distilled a full five times before being filtered through charcoal. This creates a surprisingly pure vodka-drinking experience.

Bottom Line:

While it’s still a better bet as a cocktail base, if you were going to drink one of the vodkas on this list neat, American Plains Vodka is the one.

Part 3: Final Thoughts

I find that with many of these spirits’ blind taste tests, balance is the name of the game. But, surprisingly, when it came to vodka, my higher-ranking vodkas leaned on the sweeter side as well as the clean, smooth side. Sure, there was some with a spicy, peppery element, but it was a smooth mouthfeel and sweetness that won the day.

Some Old Ex-Fox Execs Are Apologizing For Helping Rupert Murdoch Build A ‘Disinformation Machine’ At Fox News

Fox News isn’t doing so hot these days. Back in April they had to fork over a fortune because they spread some 2020 election nonsense. They’re getting sued again, this time because Tucker Carlson repeatedly tarred a probably innocent man. But in a sense they haven’t been doing well for a long time. After all, they’ve spent years, decades spreading questionable — and sometimes flat-out incorrect — information. And some of the people who helped create what became the network regret what it’s become.

In a blog post, three former Fox executives — Ken Solomon, Bill Reyner, and Preston Padden — offered a lengthy mea culpa for helping turn Fox (which is to say the network that birthed The Simpsons, et al.) into a powerhouse in the ‘90s. After Fox blossomed into a worthy competitor of the “Big Three” of ABC, CBS, and NBC, that paved the way for Murdoch — who they once “greatly admired” — to launch what the three called a “disinformation machine.”

“In our opinion, the Fox News Channel has had many negative impacts on our society,” the three write. Perhaps the worst has been their perpetuating the “Big Lie” about 2020 election malfeasance, then “contributing to the January 6 riot at the U.S. Capitol that undermined our democracy.” They point out that many of the rioters have pled not guilty by saying they had “Foxitis,” which the ex-execs call “a disease caused by watching false news on Fox!”

They also torch Murdoch and company for how they handled the Dominion lawsuit:

In a 120 page Court Order, backed by extensive record evidence including voluminous emails from inside Fox, the Judge in the Dominion case found that Fox repeatedly presented false news. Fox did not appeal the decision but instead acknowledged it and paid nearly $800 million in damages to Dominion.

Solomon, Reyner, and Padden add that there are other Fox veterans who “share our resentment” about helping turn Fox into a brand they say has now been “ruined by false news.”

You can read the full post here, whose sentiments have become even more relevant now that the Murdochs are thinking about dumping the “loser” Meatball Ron DeSantis and trying to woo Donald Trump back.

The ‘Aporia’ Trailer Promises A New Twist On Time Travel And Grief With Judy Greer

Awash in the multiverse where the past is a plaything, and super-characters can return at a moment’s notice, Aporia attempts to offer something more in line with the Primer vein. Written and directed by Jared Moshe, the film stars Uproxx favorite Judy Greer as a grieving widow struggling through the weight of that pain, the need to keep pushing forward with life, and the parental responsibility of not collapsing so her daughter doesn’t lose a second parent. She’s hurting, but a physicist with a top-secret time machine (is there any other kind?) offers her a devil’s bargain to change her life. To set things right?

Basically, she’s The Flash.

Or, maybe The Flash would have been better if Judy Greer starred in it. That may be the lesson here.

Aporia also stars Edi Gathegi (House fans rejoice!) and Payman Maadi from A Separation. There’s some humble indie cred here in what looks like a twisty thriller about impossible choices and the natural pull of being able to alter reality to our liking. Making those changes always comes with a cost in films like this, and Aporia promises to deliver something new (and…maybe devastating?).

The film also offers us a fun language lesson as “aporia” means a state of puzzlement or an expression of doubt. Aporia (the movie, not the spelling bee prompt) hits select theaters on August 11th.

Jeffrey Dean Morgan Only Offered One Word To Describe His ‘The Boys’ Character For Season 4

Jeffrey Dean Morgan loves to lean into his reputation as a small-screen bad boy, and he’s not only currently bringing back semi-Old Negan in The Walking Dead: Dead City but also gearing up for the world to see him in The Boys‘s fourth season. This will repair him with old Supernatural pal Eric Kripke, who’s already intro-ed Jensen Ackles as Soldier Boy into the franchise. And although Morgan’s role is expected to be a small one (because the man is busy), fans are still clamoring to know who he shall play.

The role, however, is being kept strictly under wraps with a few bare-bones teases so far. Nathan Mitchell, who has been playing Black Noir (until… you know), did tell The Movie Dweeb that Morgan is playing a “badass.” And Karl Urban likewise only teased when posting a photo of himself and Morgan “on the set of a Cadillac commercial.” As well, the show’s social media accounts shared a janky photoshop to screw with everyone, but hey, Morgan has one word to add to the equation.

Actually, he’s agreeing with a word that’s already been used in a headline from The Mary Sue: “How Do You Make ‘The Boys’ Even Filthier? Add Jeffrey Dean Morgan.” To that (and the question of what he can say about The Boys), he echoed the “filthier” while speaking Men’s Health: “Well, no… I can’t tell you much about The Boys, but I will tell you to watch. And I do make it ‘filthier.’”

There you have it. Speculation abounds out there in the ether that Morgan may have been tapped to portray Tek-Knight, an old-school member of Payback, but again, there’s been zero confirmation, and when The Boys is ready to show this hand, we shall know it.

SNX DLX: This Week’s Best Sneaker Drops, Including The AJ 12 Brilliant Orange, AJ 7 Chambray And More!

Welcome to SNX DLX, your weekly roundup of the best sneakers to hit the internet. Bright colors and classic silhouettes — that’s the theme this week as Nike and New Balance hit us with new vivid summer-ready colorways on beloved fan-favorite models. Nike is even reaching into the vaults to launch two 80s-era touchstones — the Air Alpha Force 88 and the McEnroe signature Mac Attack.

Jordan fans will be pleased to know that after several weeks of drought, the Air Jordan lineage is back in the release schedule with new updates to the Jordan 12 and Jordan 7. It’s a packed week but one Nike is majorly dominating. We’d have liked to see something worthwhile from Adidas, Puma, or Reebok, but the three brands couldn’t slap something together that caught our eye.

Let’s dive into this week’s best drops!

Nike ACG Watercat+ Vivid Sulfur

SNX
Nike

Price: $125

I know I just mentioned that this week was all about classic silhouettes but we are getting some left-field designs from ACG’s latest collaboration with Nike, like this electric yellow Watercat+. This sneaker — if you want to call it that — is designed for quick-drying action with a woven cord-based upper that is lightweight and breathable.

The Watercat+ is outfitted with a mixed-rubber outsole with undulating lugs for increased grip on slippery surfaces, like waterfall-drenched rocks and muddy trails. It’s a performance-based sneaker, but even if you aren’t going on a summer hike, it still looks great!

The Nike ACG Watercat+ Vivid Sulfur is set to drop on July 12th at 7:00 AM PST for a retail price of $125. Pick up a pair via the Nike SNKRS app.

Nike ACG Mountain Fly 2 Low Black

SNX
Nike

Price: $150

If you want something from ACG that gives those future vibes that is still a straight-up sneaker and not some woven weirdness, the Mountain Fly 2 lets you have your cake and eat it too. The Mountain Fly features a breathable upper with a foam midsole, a reinforced plate underfoot, a semi-gusseted tongue, and traction inspired by mountain bike tires.

It’s just as adventurous as the Watercat but doesn’t look it, which is a good thing.

The Nike ACG Mountain Fly 2 Low Black is set to drop on July 12th at 7:00 AM PST for a retail price of $150. Pick up a pair via the Nike SNKRS app.

Nike Women’s Air Jordan 12 Brilliant Orange

SNX
Nike

Price: $200

The Jordan 12 Brilliant Orange smacks you across the face with its bold look, that’s what we like to see from Jordan brand! The sneaker borrows the colorway and feel of a basketball with its orange and black scheme and full-grain leather build. It even has that basketball texture on the side paneling.

It hurts that Nike didn’t drop this in a full-size run but we won’t hold it against them.

The Nike Women’s AIR JORDAN 12 Brilliant Orange is set to drop on July 13th at 7:00 AM PST for a retail price of $200. Pick up a pair via the Nike SNKRS app.

Nike Air Flight Huarache Coral Chalk and Laser Blue

SNX
Nike

Price: $125

Sneakers-that-look-like-something-Zach-Morris-would-wear is its very own category of sneakers, and the latest sneaker to join that unofficial series is this Coral Chalk and Laser Blue Air Flight Huarache.

While this looks undeniably fresh in 2023, it’s actually a total recreation of the OG Flight Huarache colorway from 1992. The sneaker has been updated with Air cushioning at the heel and forefoot for a more comfortable and modern feel.

The Nike Air Flight Huarache Coral Chalk and Laser Blue is set to drop on July 14th at 7:00 AM for a retail price of $125. Pick up a pair via the Nike SNKRS app.

Nike Air Jordan 7 Chambray

Nike

Price: $200

I gave Nike a pass on not dropping the Brilliant Orange AJ 12 in a full-size run because I knew this sneaker was in play, and it’s hard to complain about anything Jordan-brand-related when you have a sneaker this dope dropping.

The Chambray features a premium leather build that Nike boasts has a ‘velvet finish,’ in a stealthy black colorway with chambray details looking like mountain range across the midsole, with a matching embroidered jump man logo.

The Nike Air Jordan 7 Chambray is set to drop on July 15th at 7:00 AM PST for a retail price of $200. Pick up a pair via the Nike SNKRS app.

Nike Air Alpha Force 88 University Red and White

SNX
Nike

Price: $130

Maybe if Michael Jordan rocked the Air Alpha Force more than once in his career, people would’ve never forgotten about this silhouette. Maybe that also means we wouldn’t have the Air Jordan lineage. Perhaps, in this alternate universe, Jordan leaves Nike and signs with Van Grack? We could go down this rabbit hole forever, so we’re just going to stop ourselves and talk about the return of the Alpha Force 88.

Featuring a premium leather build and a Chicago colorway, the Air Alpha Force 88 is a welcome blast from the past. Anytime Nike would like to reach into its vaults, we’ll take it!

The Nike Air Alpha Force 88 University Red and White is set to drop on July 15th at 7:00 AM PST for a retail price of $130. Pick up a pair via the Nike SNKRS app.

It’s tastefully minimal and easily our favorite 550 release of the week.

Social Status x Nike Mac Attack ‘Silver Linings’

SNX
Nike

Price: $140

The Mac Attack is officially back and we’re loving the sneaker’s return. First dropped as a signature John McEnroe tennis shoe, the now simply-named “Nike Attack” returned last month and Nike has been slowly drip-feeding us new brand collaborations that revamp the look (expect a Travis Scott version soon).

This latest take comes courtesy of Social Status and features an off-white colorway with a tearaway Swoosh that reveals a clay undertone and two sets of laces.

The Social Status x Nike Mac Attack Silver Linings is set to drop on July 14th at 11 pm PST. Enter the launch at the Social Status website or pick up a pair at Social Status retail locations.

Relationship expert tells people to never get married unless you’re willing to do 3 things

Being in a relationship can be difficult at times. Learning someone else’s quirks, boundaries, and deep views on the world can be eye-opening and hard. But usually, the happy chemicals released in our brain when we love someone can cause us to overlook things in order to keep the peace.

Jayson Gaddis, a relationship expert, took to Twitter to rip off people’s rose-colored glasses and tell them to forego marriage. Honestly, with the divorce rate in this country being as high as it is, he probably could’ve stopped his tweet right there. Don’t get married, the end. Many people would’ve probably related and not questioned the bold statement, but thankfully he followed up with three things you must be willing to do before going to the chapel.

Before going into his reasons for why he tells people not to get married, Gaddis explained that he is a person that “LOVEs being married.” I mean, it would probably make him a pretty weird relationship expert if he hated relationships, so it’s probably a good thing he enjoys being married. Surely his spouse appreciates his stance as well.

So why does he tell unsuspecting people not to get married? “Because a long-term partnership might be one of the hardest paths out there. It will confront everything about you and your partner. Your relationship skills will be tested. And all your unresolved childhood trauma will come to the surface,” Gaddis wrote.

Unresolved childhood trauma can become a major problem in relationships because oftentimes our trauma is present in how we react to conflict or relationship strain. According to Kaytee Gillis, LCSW-BACS, childhood trauma manifests in relationships in multiple ways including fear of abandonment, being easily irritated, constantly arguing or avoiding conflict at all costs.

It’s not unwise to tuck that bit of information in your pocket if you’re thinking about a long-term relationship, and Gaddis bringing this to the forefront will certainly benefit someone. That’s not to say you can’t be in a relationship if you have trauma; Gaddis is simply suggesting that you be aware of your traumas and how they may show up in the course of a relationship.

He then went on to get into his actual list of things couples should be willing to do before they get married in order to have a successful marriage.

Learn. Learn about you, learn about them. Never stop learning about yourself and each other in the context of your relationship,” he wrote, which falls right in line with his pre-numbered suggestions.

Now, the second suggestion may have people quickly raising an eyebrow, especially if they don’t like conflict. Gaddis suggested embracing “conflict, adversity and challenges” and getting “very very good at repairing it and working it through 100% of the time.”

That’s a good one. Conflict resolution is a skill and committing to sharpening it and using it every single time could save some relationships. The third may help preemptively alleviate some unforeseen power struggles and I’m here for it.

Share leadership and collaborate. Being teammates about everything and sharing the load together is crucial. Be honest about how hard it is to share leadership and get better at it,” Gaddis tweeted before elaborating further in the thread.

The author and relationship expert bluntly stated that if both people can’t agree to do those three suggestions, then the couple would not survive. Gaddis rounded out the Twitter thread by explaining that unless you’re ready to work on yourself and commit to the three things listed, you should stay single.

Ouch. Harsh words, but it’s better to come from a behavior and relationship expert than anyone else.

One moment in history shot Tracy Chapman to music stardom. Watch it now.

While a catchy hook might make a song go viral, very few songs create such a unifying impact that they achieve timeless resonance. Tracy Chapman’s “Fast Car” is one of those songs.

So much courage and raw honesty is packed into the lyrics, only to be elevated by Chapman’s signature androgynous and soulful voice. Imagine being in the crowd and seeing her as a relatively unknown talent and hearing that song for the first time. Would you instantly recognize that you were witnessing a pivotal moment in musical history?

For concert goers at Wembley Stadium in the late 80s, this was the scenario.

The year was 1988. Seventy-two thousand people gathered—along with 600 million more watching along on their televisions—to see headliner Stevie Wonder as part of Nelson Mandela’s 70th birthday tribute concert.

However, technical difficulties (or perhaps some divine timing) rendered Wonder unable to perform his act. Chapman had already played a three-song set earlier in the afternoon, and yet she agreed to step up to the microphone.

Armed with nothing but herself and a guitar, the shy and stoic Chapman captivated everyone to silence. And the rest is history.

Watch:

Using just a simple story, “Fast Car” conveyed a million different themes—the challenges of class and poverty, seeking escape from a small town and yearning for freedom and new opportunity. It’s easy to see why some find the song heartbreaking, while others find it hopeful.

After the Mandela gig, the song became a worldwide hit, earning Chapman Grammy awards and shooting her to stardom. What’s more, she introduced a new wave of socially-conscious music filled with gentle, yet brutally truthful introspection. Since that fateful day, her name is forever synonymous with a quiet revolution. We are quite lucky to get to experience it so many years later.

Little boy asks older skateboarder to hold his hand while he attempts a new trick

Learning a new skill is a little scary, especially if that skill includes becoming airborne for any amount of time. But without pushing the limits of gravity in sports, we wouldn’t have greats like Tony Hawk and Chole Kim. Even the extreme sports and Olympic stars had to start from scratch, likely with lots of scratches, bruises and maybe even some broken bones as they learned new tricks.

When you’re little and learning new skateboarding tricks, sometimes you just need the bravery of an older kid to help you push through the fear. In a video posted by CBS, a little skateboarder who appeared to be around 9 years old looked to an older skateboarder to hold his hand as he attempted a new trick.

The older boy grabbed the boy’s hand and took off running along side the little boy’s skateboard, eventually throwing his own skateboard under his feet to keep up.

The entire interaction took less than a minute, but the little boy’s excitement at the end when he nailed the trick was absolutely priceless. He landed the flip and rolled right into the older teen’s arms, jumping excitedly. It was the kind of kindness parents hope their kids show when they’re not looking, and the comment section was filled with people cheering on the skateboarders.

“I love this! He was there for him to the end to make sure he had a smooth landing! What a great video,” one person wrote.

“Watching this, this morning, just made my day. Awesome the lil one did it, but even more the older boy helped him get it done. God bless them both,” another commenter wrote.

“Omg..that’s way too cute. That hug, speaks volumes. Well done little one, you did it,” someone said.

Sometimes you just need a little nudge of encouragement to do the hard thing. So glad this boy had the support of a more experienced skater. These kids are alright.
