This past week, the folks at EA Sports steadily unveiled this year’s player ratings for Madden 24, as the game is now three weeks away from its August 15 release date. Player ratings are always a source of debate, but they do provide at least a decent look at each team’s strengths and weaknesses, with the understanding that preseason ratings can never account for any major leaps players could potentially make in an offseason.

The Seahawks slipped into the playoffs last year as the last Wild Card team, which was a shocking result after trading Russell Wilson away in the offseason. Geno Smith (81 OVR) had a spectacular season getting the chance to start again, providing one of the best stories in the NFL, and now the question is whether he can back it up. Kenneth Walker III (87 OVR) emerged as one of the NFL’s best young backs and Tyler Lockett (89 OVR) and DK Metcalf (88 OVR) remain a top-tier receiving duo — with Jaxon Smith-Njigba (78 OVR) as an intriguing rookie addition. On defense, they’re led by their second level, with Bobby Wagner (89 OVR) still patrolling the middle at linebacker, Jamal Adams (88 OVR) and Quandre Diggs (87 OVR) making up an elite secondary, and Tariq Woolen (83 OVR) an emerging star at corner. Seattle has some questions on both of their lines, but if those hold up they could absolutely be in the mix for a playoff spot again this season, even as they rebuild a bit with young talent.

The 49ers season a year ago was cursed when it came to quarterback health, as they saw Trey Lance (71 OVR), Jimmy Garoppolo, and Brock Purdy (73 OVR) all suffer season-ending injuries, leading to a dismal NFC title game loss to the Eagles in which they had no quarterbacks to play. Purdy emerged as a surprising star and enters this season as the presumptive starter, but quarterback is still the question hanging over the Niners when it comes to their hopes of being a contender. There are stars all over, with Christian McCaffrey (96 OVR) and Deebo Samuel (89 OVR) headlining on offense, while Nick Bosa (98 OVR) and Fred Warner (96 OVR) lead the defense. The expectation is they will, again, be one of the league’s best on that side, even with DeMeco Ryans off coaching in Houston, but there are questions on the offensive line aside from Trent Williams (98 OVR) and the aforementioned curiosity as to whether Purdy can recapture the magic from last year. If so, this is a contender, but they will not be among the absolute favorites due to the lack of a QB with pedigree.

The Commanders were the odd team out in 2022 in the NFC East, finishing 8-8-1 just behind the Giants. Coming into the 2023 season, there’s positivity around the team, not so much out of an expectation things will be better on the field, but because Dan Snyder is finally out as owner of the franchise. In the immediate, Washington again looks like the third or fourth best team in the division, as they simply don’t have a top-end QB. Jacoby Brissett (72 OVR) is perfectly serviceable and Sam Howell (66) is a mystery as a young player, but in a division with Jalen Hurts and Dak Prescott, they’re pretty far behind. Still, this is an excellent defensive unit, headlined by one of the league’s best defensive fronts that may look even better with Chase Young (85 OVR) healthy again. He joins Jonathan Allen (93 OVR), Daron Payne (83 OVR), and Montez Sweat (82 OVR) to create a formidable line. Behind them is a solid secondary led by Kendall Fuller (87 OVR), and if the linebacker play can suffice, this could be, once again, one of the NFL’s stingiest defensive groups. Whether the offense can produce enough to give them the help they need remains to be seen, but they should be a miserable team to face once again this season.

The Eagles came so close to another Super Bowl title last year, only to fall just short against the Chiefs, but Philadelphia comes into 2023 as the favorites once again in the NFC. The offense is led by returning stars Jalen Hurts (88 OVR), AJ Brown (91 OVR), DeVonta Smith (87 OVR), and Dallas Goedert (89 OVR), while they overhauled their running back room, now led by D’Andre Swift (81 OVR). Swift will be running behind the best offensive line in football, with Lane Johnson (98 OVR), Jason Kelce (92 OVR), and Jordan Mailata (87 OVR) as the standouts up front. On defense, Darius Slay Jr (92 OVR) leads the secondary, while Haason Reddick (90 OVR) is their top pass rusher. They saw some turnover up front but still are led by Fletcher Cox (81 OVR) in the middle, with the two young Georgia Bulldogs (of many on the roster) Jordan Davis (79 OVR) and Jalen Carter (79 OVR) stepping into key roles this season. There aren’t a lot of questions for this Eagles team, but if they do exist they are up the middle in the back end, where middle linebacker and safety are a bit unproven. Still, this is a loaded roster where the goal is to win a Super Bowl, and provided their stars stay healthy, they’ll be the favorites to emerge from the NFC.

A year ago, the New York Giants were among the league’s biggest surprises, as they vaulted into the playoffs in Brian Daboll’s first season as head coach, beating the Vikings in the Wild Card before getting thumped by the Eagles in the Divisional round. Now, they have to back that up when there are expectations on them. Daniel Jones (75 OVR) was rewarded with a big contract this offseason, while Saquon Barkley (93 OVR) failed to get his and will holdout through camp before deciding whether to sign the franchise tag. Without Barkley, the Giants rushing attack takes a major hit and more pressure would fall on Jones’ shoulders in the passing game, with a middling receiving corps around him. However, Darren Waller (86 OVR) being added to the roster should provide Jones with a new favorite safety valve at tight end. While the offense was solid last year, it was the defense that led the way for New York, headlined by Dexter Lawrence (94 OVR) in the middle of the defensive line. Whether that group can remain as stingy as they were a year ago will likely determine how much of their success they can replicate in 2023, barring another leap from Jones not many see coming.

In late September, talk show host Drew Barrymore made an off-hand comment about sex that caused an unexpected stir. During a “Drew’s News” segment with Ross Mathews, the two discussed Andrew Garfield’s admission he abstained from sex for six months while filming Martin Scorsese’s 2016 film “Silence.”

“I get abstaining from sex, I mean I did that my entire 20s, right?” Mathews joked, to which Barrymore responded, “What’s wrong with me that six months doesn’t seem like a very long time? I was like, ‘Yeah so?’”

“We buried the lede there, that’s the headline. Drew can go six months, no big deal,” Mathews added. “Years,” Barrymore confirmed.

A woman in Barrymore’s yoga class mentioned her comments in passing, not knowing she was speaking to the actress. “You look just like Drew Barrymore except for you look like you have mental wellness and besides … she hates sex!” Barrymore recounted on her blog.

After the rude comment, Barrymore decided to clear things up on her blog. Her explanation was a mature way of looking at love and intimacy and the challenges faced by single mothers.

“At nearly 48 I have very different feelings about intimacy than I did growing up,” Barrymore wrote. “However, after two kids and a separation from their father that has made me cautious, I have had the pleasure of shifting my focus when it comes to love for myself and my two daughters. I know that does not include a man nor has it for a while. I’ve come to realize through working in therapy (with Barry), he said something and I had to write it down. He said, ‘Sex is not love! It is the expression of love.’”

Barrymore wants to set an example of a healthy view of intimacy for her two daughters, Olive, 10, and Frankie, 8, who she had with ex-husband Will Kopelman.

“I’m also raising two daughters, so how we raise girls to be appropriate and empowered and to love themselves and to realize that we live in an age where the images and messages that they will see will also contradict what I have come to believe intimacy is!” she wrote.

The “Wedding Singer” star divorced Kopelman a little more than seven years ago and it’s taken her time to feel comfortable again in a relationship. While she doesn’t judge those who jump right into new relationships after getting divorced, what feels right to her is what matters.

“Some people can get out of a marriage or relationship and in the near future find themselves in another relationship. There is nothing wrong with that! Not one bit,” she wrote. “I do not judge! I celebrate their journey! Because for some people that really works. It didn’t work for me.”

Barrymore’s decision to open up about her love life and share her deepest thoughts about intimacy are brave, especially in a world where celebrities are expected to flaunt their sexuality. Barrymore is strong to admit that she has scars from the loss of her marriage and that running back into a relationship isn’t right for her at this time.

There are a lot of people who are grieving the loss of a relationship and don’t feel they’re allowed to take time for themselves. Let’s hope that Barrymore’s admission gives them strength to be alone when it’s what’s best for their well-being.

The “Attention” rapper took to social media to blast her fans for the nickname. According to screenshots captured by Pop Crave, the entertainer wrote, “If you call yourself a ‘kitten’ or f*cking ‘kittenz,’ that means you need to get off your phone and get a job and help your parents with the house.”

When asked by a fan page if they could change their account handle, reportedly she replied, “Just delete the entire account and rethink everything. It’s never too late.”

One fan asked her to say that she still loves them, to which Doja Cat replied, “I don’t though cuz I don’t even know y’all.”

Doja Cat’s relationship with her fans has been rocky over the past year. In fact, earlier in the week, she was accused of blocking fans that publicly declared their disapproval of her rumored relationship with former Vine star J Cyrus.

Taylor Swift isn’t the only songstress with a knack for turning terrible dating experiences into chart-topping hits. According to fan theories, Olivia Rodrigo’s latest single, “Vampire,” secretly did just that. Livies, the nickname for Olivia Rodrigo super fans, believe the lead single off the musician’s forthcoming sophomore album, Guts, is inspired by her ex-boyfriend. But who exactly is that?

Based on social media users, Olivia Rodrigo’s “Vampire” track is about producer Adam Faze. The lyric of the track in question reads, “Went for me and not her / ‘Cause girls your age know better.”

One user online kicked about the theory when they wrote, “What if ‘Vampire’ is about the relationship with Adam Faze and the age gap? Vampire is a creature that ‘does not age’ but actually has a lot of age. Like when Edward was a few dozen or hundreds of years old and dated a teenager.” The fan’s remark referred to the character Edward Cullen from the Twilight movie franchise and the former couple’s nearly six-year age gap.

Another pointed out that the track’s release date added to the conspiracy. “That’s crazy that Olivia Rodrigo and Adam Faze were ‘confirmed’ officially on June 29th two years ago at the ‘Space Jam’ event at Universal, and she released ‘Vampire’ today on June 29TH ,” wrote the fan.

However, in a now-deleted post on TikTok, when asked by a friend if he inspired the song, Faze laughs it off, saying, “That’s not me.”

Rumors of Mitski’s retirement have been quashed. The Oscar-nominated musician is gearing up to release a new full album sooner than expected. According to an announcement leaked on social media, the “This Is A Life” singer’s forthcoming album has been completed, and fans should expect the first taste later this week.

In the audio file, the entertainer can be heard saying, “Hi! This is Mitski, and I’m at Bomb Shelter Studios in Nashville, where we recorded my new album that’s coming out.”

Mitski revealed the project’s title and the lead single’s release date. “It’s called ‘The Land Is Inhospitable And So Are We.’ And its first single is coming out on Wednesday,” said the recording artist.

According to postdate of the leak, the single would have been released on July 19, 2023. But fans hope that come this Wednesday (July 26), the track will be available across streaming platforms.

Mitski hasn’t posted anything about the project. Her last public post on Instagram dates back to Valentine’s Day (February 14). The blue-filtered image is of a woman crawling toward a doorway. Given this news, supporters now hypothesize that the photo is the official cover art of the forthcoming project’s lead single.

No further information is known at this time.

Long credits are a modern phenomenon: Before the 1970s, end credits were short to non-existent. What credits you got usually happened during the opening, and they weren’t comprehensive.

You came to learn if the money-gobbler that is Barbie, the live-action movie based on the longtime Mattel doll line, and which has enraged weirdo conservatives, has any post-credit scenes à la Marvel movies. Back to Marvel. Starting with the one that started it all, Iron Man, Marvel made sitting through the end credits — and maybe even reading them — a must. Sometimes their bumpers and post-credit scenes, which can run anywhere from one to five or so, hint at future movies. Sometimes they’re just jokes, the most famous being the shawarma sitdown at the conclusion of the original Avengers.

Eventually other, non-Marvel movies started including them. It’s a chance for filmmakers to add little epilogues or even gags to their movies — things they couldn’t fit into the main show.

Anyway, to answer your question about whether Barbie has any scenes after its hilarious final punchline, the answer is no.
