Here Is Garth Brooks’ Vegas Residency Setlist For 2023

Garth Brooks may have friends in low places, but his Vegas residency Garth Brooks/Plus One is proving why he deserves to be held high in esteem. Earlier this week, Brooks launched his 2023-2024 Las Vegas residency show, where he’s been performing all of his hits — and then some.

The setlist, which has been revealed by Setlist.fm, appears to be an all-encompassing assortment of hits throughout his career. Plus, he also gives a country spin to songs by the likes of Billy Joel, Lady Gaga, and Steve Goodman.

Upon arrival, fans are reportedly required to lock up their phones in a special bag for the duration of the show. And seeing as Brooks is vehemently anti-streaming, meaning you won’t find much of his music on digital streaming platforms, fans aren’t going to want to miss a minute.

Dorian Electra Shares Their Stantastic New Video For ‘Anon’ And Announces Their Third Album, ‘Fanfare’

Dorian Electra is known to wear their heart on their sleeve. In their latest video for their new song, “Anon,” the genderfluid icon reminds everyone that they are not the one to be f*cked with.

On “Anon,” Electra addresses the absurdities of social media, and alludes to people who believe they can talk freely to them, confusing access with familiarity.

“I do a little blasphemy as a treat / Instead of pressing send, yeah, I press delete / Made a threat thinkin’ that I should retreat / Back down, back down, and admit defeat,” they say.

In the song’s accompanying video, Electra walks through an office filled with people standing tall and bravely, despite their faces covered with paper bags. Electra maintains rockstar status, playing guitar and headbanging, unfazed by the anonymous haters.

“Anon” precedes Electra’s upcoming third studio album, Fanfare, which arrives this fall. According to a press release, Fanfare will feature Electra as they “explore parasocial relationships from the claims we stake on figureheads’ lives to taking in obsession, idolatry and pop culture as modern mythology.”

Burna Boy Travels To Jamaica To Remix Byron Messia’s Summer Hit With ‘Talibans II’

Jamaican artist Byron Messia is having the biggest year of his career so far in 2023. That’s in large part to the success of his “Talibans,” which to many, is in the running for song of the summer. The record was released on Messia’s No Love project at the top of the year and since then, the song’s accompanying music video has racked up over 36 million views, and now to give it an additional boost, Messia connected with Burna Boy for a new remix of the song, appropriately titled “Talibans II.”

The new record arrived with a music video that took both artists to the Jamaican island to party and soak up the sun. The remix begins with a strong entrance from Burna before Byron returns with his original verse. Burna later checks back in with another verse where he brags about his relationship with Jamaican singer Jada Kingdom and more.

The new remix comes after Messia looked to build off the success of “Talibans” with strong records like “90z” and “I Hate Byron.” As for Burna Boy, “Talibans II” arrives after he teamed up with 21 Savage for a remix of “Sittin’ On Top Of The World.”

You can watch the video for “Talibans II” remix above.

Burna Boy is a Warner Music artist. Uproxx is an independent subsidiary of Warner Music Group.

Lucy Dacus Seemingly Called Obama A ‘War Criminal’ After He Included Boygenius On His Summer Playlist

It’s that time of year again, when former U.S. President Barack Obama shares his annual summer playlist. Each year, Obama’s summer playlist proves to offer an eclectic mix. Some notable artists who have been featured on there include Chance The Rapper, Megan Thee Stallion, Dua Lipa, and Beyoncé.

Among this year’s picks are J Hus and Drake, SZA, Luke Combs, and Boygenius. It’s no surprise Obama opted to include “Not Strong Enough” by Boygenius on his coveted summer playlist. The three-piece band, comprised of Phoebe Bridgers, Julien Baker and Lucy Dacus has had a big year, upon releasing their debut album, The Record and delivering memorable performances at SXSW and Coachella. But despite their latest feat, it appears Dacus isn’t too thrilled about Obama opting to include Boygenius on the playlist.

After Obama posted the playlist on his Twitter account, Dacus quote-replied to the tweet, simply saying, “war criminal :(”

Dacus, Bridgers, and Baker have long been open about their politics. The trio recently performed a Nashville show in drag to protest anti-drag bills. During their Coachella performance back in April, Dacus expressed support for the safety of transgender kids, while Bridgers proudly stated “F*ck Ron Desantis.

Playoff Lessons: Evan Mobley Can Become A Much Better Short Roll Decision-Maker

Throughout their first-round series against the Cleveland Cavaliers, the New York Knicks had a clear plan defensively: coax the ball out of Darius Garland and Donovan Mitchell’s hands. Time and time again, New York trapped Cleveland’s star guards, coerced the offense elsewhere, and exploited the Cavaliers’ lack of frontcourt floor-spacing.

The upshot of that gambit left Evan Mobley in a cycle of short-roll opportunities, presenting him with a slew of reads, including kickouts to corner shooters, lobs to Jarrett Allen, or calling his own number as a scorer. Mobley and the Cavaliers failed to shift or challenge the Knicks’ strategy. Cleveland’s offense was dreadful during the playoffs — it ranked 20th among 20 postseason teams in offensive rating (102.2) and 11.3 points below league average after finishing seventh (116.7) and 1.6 points above league average in those respective categories during the regular season, according to Cleaning The Glass.

Mobley experienced some similarly jarring declines. Despite significant growth between years 1 and 2 — namely as a finisher and self-creator, which manifested in a major scoring efficiency uptick (54.9 percent true shooting in 2021-22, 59.1 percent in 2022-23) — the second-year big man struggled to translate those improvements to the playoffs.

He averaged 9.8 points per game (16.2 in the regular season) on 47.6 percent true shooting (59.1 in regular season). His assist-to-turnover ratio slipped from 2.8:1.5 to 1.0:1.2. His two-percentage tumbled from 59.5 percent to 46.8 percent. While his defense remained quite the asset, the offense emerged as a glaring liability and New York was happy to keep directing touches his way.

Among Mobley’s struggles was his incongruence on the short roll. He could not consistently punish New York in 4-on-3 situations. Some of that is not his doing, as Isaac Okoro’s presence in the corner enabled the Knicks to comfortably help off of him while he connected on just 30.8 percent of his long balls in the series.

Okoro’s shooting from distance perked up from his 29 percent rookie year clip to 35.7 percent over the past two seasons, but it’s on such minimal volume (2.3 attempts per game) that defenses are willing to concede those shots, particularly when the alternatives are guys like Mitchell or Garland creating and Mobley or Allen finishing at the rim. The arrivals of a pair of versatile, effective shooters in Max Strus and Georges Niang could harmonize some of these lineups, more optimally arrange the court for Cleveland, and ease Mobley’s short-roll burden.

Regardless, Mobley did not steadily maximize these possessions. Because neither Allen nor Mobley stretches the floor from deep, much of the focus about his areas of improvement revolve around the outside jumper, especially since he’s so much younger than Allen and adding that to his repertoire seems more plausible than the six-year veteran doing so. Yet Mobley’s playoff foibles revealed another hole to address: the floater.

Through two regular seasons, per Cleaning The Glass, he’s shot 38 and 40 percent between 4 and 14 feet, ranking in the 35th percentile or lower both years. In the playoffs, he was 4-for-24 (16.7 percent, 13th percentile) on those field goals. Mobley shrewdly trimmed down his long two volume as a sophomore to prioritize more looks around the rim, which behooved his efficiency and paired well with newfound physicality and craft. Sometimes, though, that aggression persuaded him to pursue daunting finishes against gangly, eager rim protectors when a viable runner might’ve prompted him to be a bit more judicious versus Mitchell Robinson and Isaiah Hartenstein. The lack of an intermediate game instills some rigidity into his paint scoring. It was evident against the Knicks, illuminated through choppy footwork and general discomfort transitioning into those shots.

One of Mobley’s staunch, foremost traits is his processing speed in advantageous situations. He tends to feast in these scenarios and punish defenses for giving him an edge. That didn’t manifest in Round 1. His decision-making looked hurried and off-kilter. He didn’t patiently progress through his reads. He slung errant passes, glossed over ones typically within his wheelhouse, and sped up even when he had space and time available. New York’s rotations and physicality befuddled him.

He resembled a completely different player offensively than the one whose playmaking and feel have been bedrocks for so long. Caris LeVert shot 39 percent beyond the arc during the regular season and 36 percent during the playoff; Mobley continually elected to confront Robinson inside rather than swing feeds to LeVert for open triples. Mobley and Allen have developed some nifty high-low rapport; Mobley squandered various openings for lobs or drop-offs when the low man stepped up to him.

He must refine his pacing and discernment to be the short-roll release valve he’s capable of becoming. Alleviate pressure from his star guards — who experienced their own first-round tribulations worth rectifying — and burn defenses for providing him such beneficial alignments on the floor. Force defensive schemes into conflict.

Getting a bit stronger will benefit him, as well. When Robinson stayed down on his shot fakes, Mobley didn’t have much of a counter, given the chasm in strength between them. There’s a whole lot of tape out there from the first round that could forge a roadmap toward another leap offensively, one that carries a pulse into the playoffs.

His regular season strides should be applauded and are relevant. He is a much better scorer today than the player drafted two summers ago and, at 22 years old, is one of the world’s premier defenders, which remained the case in the playoffs even though he went through some major growing pains on offense. The Cavaliers’ future is bright with him at the helm and their foundational quartet is certainly not a finished product.

His playoff regression should also be a signpost of the crucial next steps, reinforcing the dichotomy between regular season and postseason hoops that Mobley and his teammates must bridge to help Cleveland achieve its lofty aspirations.

Mom told not to breastfeed at water park perfectly explains why the decision was ridiculous

There are a lot of reasons why waterparks aren’t the most sanitary places in the world. In the water lurks a mysterious combination of chlorine, sweat, pee, saliva and whatever grime the people brought into the park from the outside. So, it’s strange that Rigby’s Water World in Georgia asked mother Tiffany Francis to stop breastfeeding her baby in the lazy river “as a courtesy to other people.”

Francis shared her story on Facebook, where the post received 848 shares and over 1,000 comments.

“My son is 11 months old, and when it was getting to be his nap time, like I do every visit, I got in the lazy river to nurse him to sleep,” she wrote in the vial post. “He likes motion to sleep, he sleeps well in the car or swing, so he will also sleep in the lazy river.”

A park employee informed Francis that she couldn’t breastfeed in the lazy river, and then a manager came by to confirm the rules and said they were posted outside. “Of course there was nothing stating anything about children, except for babies needed to wear swim diapers (which he was),” Francis continued in her post.

A manager told Francis that “as a courtesy to other people,” she can’t feed her son in the lazy river because “no food or drinks” are allowed in the water. “So my boobs aren’t allowed in the water?” she retorted.

Francis made a great point about why the park shouldn’t have been concerned about breast milk potentially leaking into the water.

“Imagine all the bodily fluids being excreted into the water, but they’re worried about breastmilk when the baby was latched, my breast was out of the water, and the milk was only going into baby’s mouth,” she wrote. “But really it wasn’t even about him eating in the water it was about it making other guests uncomfortable.”

She then contrasted her behavior with other bathers.

“Also in the lazy river, I saw several other mothers with their kids asleep in their laps, the kids heads on their mom’s chests. My situation looked just like theirs, my breast wasn’t exposed. My sons face was covering everything,” Francis continued. “So without looking extra hard you’d think he was just asleep on my chest. But somehow I made people uncomfortable by doing the most natural thing I could do for my child, while just trying to let him nap. Mind you, this was also at a water park where most people are wearing very little clothing but my son and I were offensive.”

Francis asked for her season pass to be refunded, but they said no. She left the park in tears.

The post received a flurry of angry mothers, many of whom wrote messages to the water park through Facebook. Many pointed to the law that says moms are free to breastfeed just about anywhere in Georgia.

According to Georgia Code 31-1-9, “The breastfeeding of a baby is an important and basic act of nurture which should be encouraged in the interests of maternal and child health. A mother may breastfeed her baby in any location where the mother and baby are otherwise authorized to be.”

Steve Brown, Rigby’s vice president, spoke with aquatic professionals and decided to reverse the park’s stance on breastfeeding in the lazy river, issuing a statement:

After reviewing other cases on this subject and conducting a survey among other aquatic professionals. There were some good arguments for and some good arguments against allowing it. However, going forward, I will not prevent breastfeeding mothers from nursing their child in the pools at Rigby’s Water World. Even though it could be considered by many to not be the best practice, mothers have the right to breastfeed their child wherever they chose. It has always been common practice on the pool deck, but now it is allowed in the pool if a mother chooses. I would like to apologize to Tiffany for asking her to not breastfeed in the pool and, by that, not creating the best experience for her today. I will send a memo to our team to let them know the change to this policy. I would like to thank those of you who conducted yourselves in a positive way to shed light on the subject.”

In the end, Francis just wants moms to feel at ease feeding their babies wherever they go.

“No one else is told to eat under a cover or go to the bathroom to eat or to go eat in their car, but babies aren’t allowed to eat in public? People are just so oh a breast! Oh my goodness! Because people have sexualized it and it’s gross! I just want other moms to feel comfortable feeding in public whether in the water or anywhere else. It’s okay and you can do it!” Francis told WGXA.

Woman learns a valuable lesson after guy ends their date and apologizes to the waitstaff

How you treat people in the service industry is often used as a measure of what kind of person you are. Arguably, the same could be said for how you treat anyone in a customer-facing job, whether it be the sales associate at a department store, the cashier at McDonald’s or the janitor in your office building.

While people may think that these jobs are not skilled positions, they do require an immense amount of skill that has to be learned. The skill just isn’t as valued by society as a whole, and sadly, that often leads to people treating those in customer-facing jobs poorly. But when a woman recently went on a date with a potential partner, her poor behavior towards the waitstaff caused him to pause.

The story was shared by a woman by the name of Barbara NOT Barb on Twitter with a lengthy thread about her daughter’s recent interaction. Though the details were juicy, it quickly became obvious that kindness is the way to go.

Barbara’s daughter works as a server at a high-end restaurant in Los Angeles, and she was asked to bring water to a couple’s table in someone else’s section to help out. But according to the Twitter thread, when her daughter arrived at the table, the woman at the table started berating and insulting her.

Apparently, the couple, who were on their first date, were waiting for their drink orders from the bar. If you’ve ever worked in a restaurant, you know that servers don’t have anything to do with how quickly your food or alcoholic drinks get made. They keep an eye out for the items as they care for other tables, but either this woman didn’t realize that or didn’t care, because she yelled at the server for how long it was taking for the drinks. The only mistake this particular server made was being kind to a co-worker and offering to drop off glasses of water.

After the server tried unsuccessfully to de-escalate the situation, the woman demanded to speak to the manager. It’s not clear if this was the woman’s first date ever, but it was her first date with the stunned man at the table. Since people generally attempt to put their best foot forward on a first date, it’s not surprising that the man decided to end the date. But before he did that, he gave a lesson in kindness.

Before the manager could reach the table, the likely embarrassed man intercepted him.

“He asked to close out the tab. Explained it was a first date and that the woman’s behavior disgusted him. He paid the tab at the bar and then requested my daughter and the original server come talk to him. He apologized profusely for his date’s behavior,” Barbara wrote. “Needless to say, everyone was floored, in the best way. The woman had somehow been informed that the date was over. She walked out, head down, and was no longer talking down to anyone.”

Being kind to others is one of the easiest things to do. Maybe the woman in question was having a bad day—everyone has them—but our bad days probably shouldn’t bleed over onto unsuspecting strangers. Hopefully, the servers and the date got a lesson in kindness and standing up for others.

Biden transformed an attack from one of his biggest critics into a hilarious re-election ad

Sometimes all it takes is flipping the narrative to turn our biggest critics into our most loyal fans.

That is quite literally what the Biden administration did when Georgia Republican congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene tried to criticize the president by comparing his programs to those of Franklin Roosevelt and Lyndon Johnson during a Turning Point Action Conference.

Greene’s speech was intended to label this comparison as a bad thing, but many were quick to note that much of what she said: improving education, poverty and healthcare, didn’t sound like quite the atrocities she was making them out to be.

Biden’s team decided to use Greene’s critical rhetoric to their advantage. All it took was a little editing, along with some uplifting music, to turn Greene’s attack on Biden into a passionate ad campaign effectively endorsing him.

In the video shared to Biden’s Twitter account, Greene declares that “Joe Biden had the largest public investment in social infrastructure and environmental programs, that is actually finishing what FDR started, that LBJ expanded on, and Joe Biden is attempting to complete.”

“Programs to address education, medical care, urban problems, rural poverty, transportation, Medicare, Medicaid, labor unions, and he still is working on it,” she concludes.

Adding insult to injury, Biden tweeted “I approve of this message,” along with the message.

Greene’s extreme rhetoric and unfounded outbursts are hardly a laughing matter, especially coming from someone in a leadership position. But it’s turning out to be perfect fodder to make Biden appear more level-headed. All in all, it’s a wholesome comeback that ultimately has more to do with focusing on solutions and less about “owning” someone.

It’s like the saying goes, “Don’t get mad. Get even.”

Someone questioned the Costco cake ordering system. You do not question the Costco cake system.

Costco is known for many things—their employee satisfaction and retention, their amazing Kirkland Signature generic brand, their massive (and addictive) $4.99 rotisserie chickens, their never-going-to-raise-the-price $1.50 hot dog and soda meal and more.

But one favorite Costco feature that might just top them all? The Costco cake.

Costco cakes are legendary. If you’ve never had a Costco cake, I’m so sorry. If you have, then you know. They are the trifecta of awesome—huge, cheap and utterly delicious. I don’t even like cake that much and I can’t stop eating a Costco cake. Like, if you ordered a fancy cake from a fancy patisserie and it tasted like a Costco cake, you’d say, “Oh yeah, that was worth the $ I just paid.” Only at Costco, you’d get that delicious of a cake that would feed a thousand people for just $25. (Okay, 50 people, but still—cake for days.)

This is why people have a serious loyalty to Costco cakes, which writer Lucy Huber discovered when she dared to question the Costco cake ordering process on Twitter.

Huber took to the social media platform to share her anxiety over the antiquated way you have to order a Costco cake. You can’t call it in. You can’t order it online. You have to physically go to the Costco bakery, fill out a paper form at an unmanned cake ordering kiosk, drop your form in the drop box without speaking to a single human being, and then trust that your cake will be there when you return at your requested time.

It was the last part Huber poked fun of when she wrote, “Ordered a cake from Costco and their system is from the 1800s, you write what you want on a piece of paper & put it in a box then nobody follows up and you just show up and hope they made it? I tried to call to confirm & they were like ‘if you put it in the box, it will be there.’”

“Oh also,” she added, “when I called I had to call the main office bc there was no number listed for the bakery and they told me ‘the bakery has no phone’. Truly living in 1802 right now.”

Everything she wrote is true. But as she quickly learned, one does not question the Costco cake ordering system, as the Costco cake brigade demonstrated with a deluge of “Trust the system!” and “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it!” sentiments.

Multiple people said they’d ordered more than 50 cakes from Costco with their dropbox system and had never had a problem. And any slight anxiety that might cause is worth it for cakes that are that cheap and that delicious. (As one person wrote after their first Costco cake experience, “100/10.”)

People who love Costco really love Costco.

Only the Costco fanbase is built on a solid foundation of awesome business practices, fabulous food and great deals.

Even some Costco bakery employees chimed in with some humor and support.

For the uninitiated, someone shared a photo of the magic cake kiosk where you make your choices, hope for the best and are never disappointed.

Huber got a kick out of the response, sharing that she’s never had a tweet go viral that fast and she was no longer worried about the box system.

As of this writing, she has not shared whether she received her cake as ordered or whether it was as scrumptious as the Costco cake lovers promised.

Barack Obama’s Eclectic Summer 2023 Playlist Includes Hits From J Hus, Janelle Monáe, Rosalía, And More

Say what you want about the former President; he’s got great taste. Barack Obama has shared his 2023 summer playlist and he’s been listening to some of fans’ favorite new artists this year in addition to a collection of classics. “Like I do every year, here are some songs I’ve been listening to this summer — a mix of old and new,” he wrote on Twitter. “Look forward to hearing what I’ve missed.”

It doesn’t seem like he’s missed much. While he’s been listening to a bunch of stuff you’d expected to hear from a “cool uncle” like Aretha Franklin’s “Dr. Feelgood (Love Is A Serious Business)” and Toots And The Maytals’ “Funky Kingston,” there are plenty of more recent standouts. Some examples include J Hus and Drake’s “Who Told You,” Janelle Monáe’s “Only Have Eyes 42,” and Rosalía and Rauw Alejandro’s “Vampiros.” Even Luke Combs’ cover of “Fast Car” is here, which… we’ll give Uncle Barry a pass for the nostalgia.

During a recent interview with Hassan Minhaj, Obama denied having help or taking shortcuts in building his legendary end-of-year lists. “People, they believe the books and the movies,” he said. “But the playlists, they somehow think — and this is mostly coming from young people like you — Somehow, y’all think you invented rock and roll. You invented hip-hop. And so the fact that my lists are pretty incredible, people seem to think, ‘Well, he must’ve had some 20-year-old intern who was figuring out this latest cut.’ No, man. It’s on my iPad right now!”

I mean, playing music from an iPad is pretty funny, but we certainly do appreciate the insights into his taste.

You can check out Obama’s Summer Playlist above.
