People are sharing the things we’ll be nostalgic for in 50 years. Here are the best responses.

A Reddit user asked an innocent question about the future and it exposed a lot of the issues that people worry about today. It also highlighted the things we should appreciate while they are still around.

Klausbrusselssprouts asked the AskReddit forum, “In 50 years, what will people be nostalgic for?” and the responses went two ways. Some people mentioned the things they fear will get a lot worse in the future such as the role that technology plays in our lives and climate change.

Others saw the question as a way of appreciating the things we have now that may not survive over the next few decades.

As the old saying goes, you don’t know what you’ve got till it’s gone, so it’s hard to predict the things that we have today that people will feel nostalgic for in the future. Back in the late ’80s and early ’90s, nobody would have ever guessed that people would feel nostalgic for everyday experiences such as going to Blockbuster video or the sound of an old dial-up modem. But a lot of people get a warm, fuzzy feeling when they think about them today.

It’s safe to say that in 50 years, a lot of the real experiences we enjoy today will be replaced by digital technology. So take time to appreciate face-to-face interactions with other people, technology that isn’t implanted into your brain and attending events in person.

Here are 17 of the best responses to the question, “In 50 years, what will people be nostalgic for?”

Husband shares how he used to think of himself as the ‘main character’ of his marriage

There is certainly no shortage of stories from women highlighting the glaring disparity between society’s expected responsibilities of husbands vs. wives. Some are a bit more lighthearted, poking fun at the absurdity. Others reflect utter frustration and had-it-up-to-here-edness with partners not doing their share of the work.

However, self-proclaimed “Clueless Husband” J Fisher’s honest, thoughtful retrospection on the subject shows that it’s not just female partners noticing that things need to change.

In a now-viral TikTok video, Fisher describes how he used to consider himself the “main character” of his relationship.

What exactly did that look like? Early on in his marriage, it looked something like this:

“Say we’d be going on a trip. My partner at that point in time would be doing the laundry, vacuuming the house, making sure the dishes were done. I would think, I would literally think like, ‘Well, yeah, we don’t have to do that. That’s you wanting to do that. It’s not what I want to do,’” he explained in the clip.

@jfisher62 What NOT to do as a husband #fyp #husbandsoftiktok #wivesoftiktok #fairplay #parenting #feminism #dismantlethepatriarchy #relationship #marriage #support #partnering ♬ original sound – J Fisher

Fisher later shared how his wife would then get everything ready for said trip, while he would simply pack for himself. This continued even after they had kids. It became worse, actually.

“My partner would do all the work to get all of them ready to make sure they were bathed, snacks packed, and I would get myself ready.”

Looking back, Fisher can plainly see how this behavior was “not okay.” But how did he think this was acceptable in the first place? After some reflection, he realized that it was simply the standard being modeled to him from an early age.

“I saw my own father do this quite a bit where he would take care of his own needs. So, I know I didn’t learn it from nowhere,” he said. “But I also had to unlearn it because it never was okay. I thought that my role was to do all these things outside of the home and that the home was women’s domain. I saw that modeled and even taught as the way it should be, but, oh my gosh, is that not partnership? And that sucks.”

After coming to this revelation, Fisher’s opinion is that if you approve of this division of labor, that you “shouldn’t be in a relationship.”

Hard to argue with that.

Hoping that he can further illustrate a better partnering mindset in a way that “may help it click for some guys,” Fisher has all kinds of insightful TikToks focused on taking accountability and expanding emotional intelligence. In them, he often names therapy, setting boundaries, finding community and accessing personal joy (rather than relying on a partner to fulfill all emotional needs) as major tools for creating a more equal relationship.

@jfisher62 Good intention ≠ Truly loving 💔😔 “I’m Sorry” doesn’t begin to do it justice. #fyp #foryoupage #marriage #longtermrelationship #partner #husbandsoftiktok #wivesoftiktok #accountability #healingjourney #grief #stagesofgrief #dabda #acceptance ♬ original sound – J Fisher

And perhaps the best part—there doesn’t seem to be so much shame around the subject. Fisher acknowledges his own goodwill while still admitting to displaying less-than-healthy behavior. It’s hard not to feel like if maybe this kind of honest, yet compassionate reexamination of gender stereotypes were more commonplace, we’d all collectively be a lot farther ahead.

Christopher Nolan Vows That He Will ‘Absolutely’ Not Work On Another Film Until The Strikes Are Over

Last week the WGA got some company. SAG-AFTRA, the union that represents some 160,000 Hollywood actors, went on strike. It’s the first time the two groups have gone on strike together since 1960, and it could go on for a very, very long time. There are many reasons to wish that it wouldn’t, and one of them is that a very popular filmmaker — and ardent supporter of the unions — won’t be planning his next project.

As per the BBC (as caught by Deadline), Nolan was at the London premiere of Oppenheimer, his latest film, when he was asked if he would be writing another film during the strike.

“No, absolutely,” he replied. “It’s very important that everybody understands it is a very key moment in the relationship between working people and Hollywood.” He added, “This is not about me, this is not about the stars of my film. This is not about me, this is not about the stars of my film.”

When the SAG-AFTRA strike was announced, Oppenheimer was in the midst of its premiere — so its actors just up and left in solidarity. Nolan made sure to praise those collaborators in particular.

“I have to to acknowledge the work of our incredible cast, led by Cillian Murphy,” said Nolan. “The list is enormous — Robert Downey Jr, Matt Damon, Emily Blunt, Florence Pugh, Kenneth Branagh, Rami Malek and so many more. … You’ve seen them here earlier on the red carpet. Unfortunately, they are off to write their picket signs for what we believe to be an imminent strike by SAG, joining one of my guilds, the Writers Guild, in the struggle for fair wages for working members of their union.”

Oppenheimer hits theaters on July 21.

Initially, when the pair were spotted on a romantic dinner out in Santa Monica, fans were not too thrilled. Now it seems that the tides have turned, with people on social media having an overwhelmingly positive response to the news.

One person wrote, “Oh, I’m so happy for her! 😍 Normani deserves some joy in her personal life. It’s been a rough few years.”

Another added, “This is absolutely no shade — but I’ve been saying for over a year now that Normani would be an excellent football or basketball wife 🤷🏿‍♂️.”

“The hate in these comments? Bruh,” another wrote. “Music career can’t hold you at night, aye. I think we all want more from Normani, but demanding your fav creatives to create on YOUR time never works. One has to be inspired to create great shit. Maybe let her be loved so she can finally deliver.”

“The Ciara prayer looks STRONG in this… hoping for long-term success,” wrote yet another, referring to Ciara and Russell Wilson.

Wife cooks nachos for ‘picky’ husband who refused to eat her salmon. But she has a point.

A viral video showing a woman preparing nachos for her “picky” spouse after he refused to eat the salmon dinner she cooked has sparked a contentious debate on TikTok. The video was shared on April 26 by Brianna Greenfield (@themamabrianna on TikTok) and has since earned over 2.5 million views.

Brianna is a mother of two who lives in Iowa.

The video starts with Brianna grating a massive hunk of cheese with a caption that reads: “My husband didn’t eat the dinner that I made…So let’s make him some nachos.”

“If I don’t feed him, he literally won’t eat,” she wrote. “This used to irritate me. Now I just blame his mother for never making him try salmon,” Greenfield wrote. The video features Meghan Trainor’s single “Mother” playing in the background.

At the end of the video, she hands her husband a huge plate of nachos while he lies on the couch under a blanket.

The video received over 11,000 comments on TikTok, primarily people saying that she shouldn’t have made a second meal for her husband and that he appears to be entitled.

Moral of the story: always serve your kids allllll the food, even if they say they dont like it after the first time. 25 years from now your child’s spouse will thank you. 😉 #momsoftiktok #momtok #momlife #workingmom #sahm #marriedlife #marriage #marriagehumor #wifelife #wivesoftiktok #happywifehappylife #pickyeater #pickyhusband #nachosfordinner #wivesoftiktok #cuisinartairfryer #humpday #guesswhatdayitis🐪 #guesswhatdayitis #eattherainbow

“If my husband came home after I cooked dinner and told me he wasn’t eating it to make something else I’d laugh in his face,” Rebecca Rose wrote. “This ain’t a marriage it’s a caretaker internship,” Ad Trèz added.

“It got worse with him wrapped in the blanket being served,” Lauren Becker wrote. “Ohhh…now I know what people mean when they refer to ‘the ick,'” Tara Townsend commented, referencing the moment when people realize that their attraction to someone has turned to repulsion.

However, Brianna believes that people are missing the point of her video. “Moral of the story: always serve your kids allllll the food, even if they say they don’t like it after the first time. 25 years from now your child’s spouse will thank you,” she captioned the post.

Brianna wasn’t trying to paint her husband as infantile but call attention to the fact that when parents don’t expose their children to different types of food, they can wind up with a relatively unsophisticated palette. She knew he didn’t like salmon when she made the dinner for her and her kids, so it wasn’t a surprise that he didn’t want it.

“If you have parents who don’t really like to try anything new, you will also be exposed to fewer new foods,” Marcia Pelchat, Ph.D. told Self—adding that the reverse is also true. When we have positive experiences with new foods, we are more likely to try unfamiliar tastes in the future.

Even though many took shots at Brianna and her husband, they took it all in stride and aren’t bothered by people who don’t know them.

“Thankfully, my husband and I have an excellent sense of humor and know the truth (that he is a wonderful husband and even better father), so we just think the reaction is genuinely entertaining,” she told Newsweek. “Some of the rude comments are hilariously clever!”

After the first video went viral, she posted another where she serves him macaroni and cheese, while he lays on the couch, under a blanket with numerous electronic devices around him.

Drake & 21 Savage’s Anna Wintour-Inspired Hologram On Their ‘It’s All A Blur Tour’ Could Land Them In The Mix Of Another Lawsuit

Drake and 21 Savage’s joint It’s All A Blur Tour has several questionable visual aid choices. Some of these are holograms. One of the most discussed images included a swimming giant sperm and a young Drake lookalike that Drake himself interacts with during the show. Attendees of the latest tour stop just spotted one creepy new addition to the collection: an Anna Wintour -inspired hologram.

Fans took to TikTok to share clips of the onscreen projection, jokingly calling out the entertainers for being petty about their feud with American Vogue‘s editor-in-chief. Although neither of the musicians has outrightly said that the hologram is pulled from Wintour’s likeness, the precise bob cut and bang combo, along with the conspicuous black designer sunglasses, leave little room for guessing.

The pair’s supposed legal settlement with Vogue‘s publisher Condé Nast furthers attendees’ speculation. The company initially sued Drake and 21 Savage for trademark infringement after the duo’s marketing teams released a fake Vogue cover to promote their album, Her Loss, in late 2022. Although Vogue wasn’t the only media company’s branding to be included in the project’s rollout, it appears Condé Nast was the only one to take legal action.

Meanwhile, NPR Music was flattered by the pair using their Tiny Desk Concert series set-up for a phony promotional video. The social media team for the series even invited Drake and 21 Savage actually to film an episode.

Don Jr. Is Once Again Insisting That He Doesn’t Snort Cocaine

After some white powder, later identified as cocaine, was found in a well-traversed part of the White House, conservatives classily made jokes about Hunter Biden, the president’s son, who suffers addiction issues. But that only opened them up to other jokes about another presidential scion: Don Jr., whose amped-up speeches and videos have regularly been deemed coke-like. Jr. has always insisted he’s not into blow, and now he’s at it again.

As per The Daily Beast, Jr. spoke at the far right Turning Point Action conference on Sunday, where he inevitably brought up Blowgate. He naturally turned it into a riff on his own sense of self-victimization, claiming that had the nose candy been found during the Trump administration, everyone would have pointed the finger at him. (He’s right about that, but perhaps he’s earned it.)

“My guys who I stayed in touch with—many of them just dear friends—they’re like, ‘Hey dude, there’s no way you would’ve gotten away with that,’” Jr. told the crowd. “I go, ‘I know!’ Luckily, I don’t snort, uh, cocaine! It’s just not my thing.”

That Jr. said this while gesticulating wildly and speaking in his usual braying, hyperactive style made his claim all the more convincing.

The White House cocaine inevitably prompted a meltdown from the GOP, with Marjorie Taylor Greene accusing Joe Biden — surely one of the chilliest presidents in history — of being a potential cokehead. Jr.’s dad went arguably the furthest, saying the drug caused Biden to order the feds and the Justice Department to raid Mar-a-Lago. Things got so out-of-hand that Kayleigh McEnany was the right’s voice of reason.

Ed Sheeran & Eminem’s Surprise Performance Of ‘Lose Yourself’ During The ‘Mathematics Tour’ Stop In Detroit Sent Fans Over The Edge

Ed Sheeran‘s music crosses genre lines. While the singer wants to explore the world of country music eventually, the entertainer has already dabbled into rap. During his Detroit stop on the Mathematics Tour, Sheeran gave fans a glimpse of that when he decided to cover hometown hero Eminem’s 2002 song “Lose Yourself.”

The sold-out crowd sang along as he passionately strummed the chords to the Oscar & Grammy Award-winning track. Little did they know Sheeran had something greater planned. In the beginning portion of the song, Eminem secretly took the stage to join in for a surprise performance which sent fans over the edge.

If this may seem like a random pairing, it isn’t. It wasn’t thefirst time the shared the stage. During Eminem’s 2022 Rock & Roll Hall of Fame induction performance, Ed Sheeran accompanied him for the song “Stan.”

Sheeran has spoken at length about how Eminem has influenced him. “I think it’s different with Eminem because he is quite reclusive and doesn’t see or meet that many people,” he once said on The Howard Stern Show. “I’ve known him now for six years, and we’ve done three songs together. I’ve played with him twice onstage. He’s another person I really relate to, as he lives in his hometown still and has his eco-system around him.”

Ed Sheeran is a Warner Music artist. Uproxx is an independent subsidiary of Warner Music Group.

DeAndre Hopkins Is Joining The Titans On A Two-Year Deal

When DeAndre Hopkins was released by the Arizona Cardinals, it gave teams still needing a wide receiver upgrade a chance to sign the former All-Pro. For a long time, the expectation was for the New England Patriots to land the star receiver, but a deal never materialized between the two sides and on Sunday, word broke that Hopkins had shifted his attention elsewhere in the AFC.

Doug Kyed and Dianna Russini reported early Sunday afternoon that Hopkins was expected to join the Tennessee Titans, giving them a veteran presence in their wide receiver room.

Shortly after, Adam Schefter and Ian Rapoport brought word that Hopkins was set to join the Titans on a two-year contract worth $26 million (plus some incentives), giving Tennessee a top-level receiver they didn’t have last year after trading AJ Brown to Philadelphia.

The biggest question of Hopkins is what level he can still reach as a receiver. He hasn’t been an All-Pro since 2020, his first season in Arizona, having appeared in just 19 games across the last two seasons due to injury and a PED suspension. Even if he’s not quite the dominant outside threat he was at his absolute peak, he does give Tennessee a much-needed big body on the outside and a veteran to help bring along Treylon Burks.
