Cardi B Assured A Fan That Her Boyfriend Is ‘In Heaven Turning Up’ After She Shared A Mournful TikTok

Cardi B is never one to mince words. Even when she means well, Cardi can’t help but add her humorous touch to her sentiments.

Last month, a fan took to TikTok to share a video of herself crying in her car as “Tomorrow 2,” Cardi’s viral collaboration with GloRilla, plays in the background. While “Tomorrow 2” isn’t necessarily a tear-jerking ballad, the song evidently held significance to the TikTokker.

The video is captioned, saying “me crying to this song because it was one of the last songs I played around my boyfriend before he died is crazy…”

Though the TikTok clip is over a month old, it was only recently brought to Cardi’s attention. Upon seeing the video, Cardi offered a brand of heartfelt reassurance only she could deliver.

“Awwww …I guess …..He in heaven turning up!,” she said.

GloRilla and Cardi B released “Tomorrow 2” last year, which launched a hot run of features for the Bronx-bred rapper. Since then, she’s added her magic touch to Latto’s “Put It On Da Floor” and FendiDa Rapper’s “Point Me 2.”

You can see the TikTokker’s clip and Cardi’s response above.

Cardi B is a Warner Music artist. Uproxx is an independent subsidiary of Warner Music Group.

James Cameron Isn’t Happy About ‘Offensive Rumors’ That He’ll Ever Make A Movie About The OceanGate Tragedy, Which He Won’t

Last month, after the OceanGate submersible Titan went missing, one name was bandied about early and often: James Cameron. After all, the vessel was heading for what remained of the Titanic, the subject of his second biggest blockbuster. The filmmaker had made many, many (safe) trips down to the wreckage before. He even probably knew about Titan’s fate before most anyone else did. But on the off chance you think Cameron is going to make his own movie about the tragedy, think again.

“I don’t respond to offensive rumors in the media usually, but I need to now,” he wrote. “I’m NOT in talks about an OceanGate film, nor will I ever be.”

Cameron was responding to rumors that alleged the contrary — rumors that had gotten prevalent enough that Cameron, a very busy guy, actually noticed them. Clearly the claims incensed him. He was not amused by the hubristic Stockton Rush, the CEO of the submersible trip company, who ignored repeated warnings about his vessel’s lack of safeness. As a result, he and four other people on board the Titan perished in what was likely a violent implosion.

For over a decade Cameron has repeatedly stressed the dangers of such deep sea diving trips — warnings Rush and company failed to appropriately heed.

One Of The Nastiest Dunks In Summer League History Came From Lakers Forward LJ Figueroa

Summer League is, above everything else, an opportunity for guys to make a case for why they deserve a spot on an NBA roster. While it’s turned into a gigantic event that attracts fans and gets used by the league to promote other stuff it has going on, at the end of the day, basketball players are out there fighting for a place in the league.

Time will tell if L.J. Figueroa, who went undrafted out of Oregon in 2021 and spent time in the G League in each of the last two seasons, will get a chance to suit up for an NBA team next year — he was with the Santa Cruz Warriors in 2021-22 and the South Bay Lakers in 2022-23. The Lakers decided to bring him with their Summer League squad this year, and on Friday night, Figueroa had an impressive run off the bench in what ended up being a 100-69 loss to the Memphis Grizzlies. This included one of the nastiest putback dunks you’ll ever see, as he cleaned up a miss by going up and over G.G. Jackson.

I do not think I have ever heard a more emphatic “oh my God” ever screamed by an announcer than in that above video. Here’s another angle, which shows him just levitating.

On the night, Figueroa went 7-for-10 from the field for 15 points with five rebounds, two assists, and a steal in a little more than 13 minutes of work.

Troye Sivan’s ‘Rush’ Video Started A Big Discussion About Representation In The Queer Community, And Even Charli XCX Appears To Have Weighed In

For the past few months, Australian pop singer Troye Sivan has been teasing his new single, “Rush.” The song, along with its video, finally dropped yesterday (July 14). However, despite the anticipation surrounding the song and video, the latter proved rather polarizing.

There’s certainly no shortage of shirtless men in the “Rush” video, however, many have criticized the visual for its lack of body diversity.

“I adore Troye Sivan, but this ‘Rush’ video is making me feel some type of way,” said one viewer on Twitter. “It seems like a case study on how white gays choose to view queer people as a whole. There’s not a single fat person in the entire video. Just white twinks and chiseled bodies.”

He continued, saying, “It’s not that someone like Troye Sivan *has to* include diverse bodies in all his videos, it’s the fact that he chose to promote ‘Rush’ as this gay sex liberation anthem yet left out a massive chunk of the population he’s singing about? Why is critiquing that “boring discourse”?

Additionally, the video has also inspired a few memes, implying that Sivan opted to be very selective when choosing dancers and background actors for the videos.

But despite the discourse, some viewers have come to Sivan’s defense.

Comedian Jay Jurden expressed enjoyment over the song and video, suggesting that there’s no sense in starting discourse over them.

“‘Rush’ is not a song or video you need to think too hard about,” he said. “What happened to fun?”

Pop sensation and frequent Sivan collaborator Charli XCX also appears to have come to his defense, however, she did not specifically mention him by name.

“I feel like we live in a world where audiences feel like expression or art isn’t worth their time unless it appeases every single unspoken requirement,” she said. “IT IS SO BORING. if something breaks common aesthetics it’s ‘weird’ or ‘try hard.’ if something conforms it’s ‘offensive’ and ‘not diverse enough.’ What a boring discourse.”

She then referred to Sam Smith, who, in converse, has been the subject of discourse for the body diversity they’ve included in their videos.

“actually Sam Smith has made a load of great music videos/performances that play with the topics of eroticism and sex and sexiness with very diverse casting and they have been heavily criticized for doing so,” Charli said. “so basically what I’m saying is – no one can ever successfully make art for everyone in this current world, nor should they try to.”

Of Course Robert F. Kennedy Jr. Thinks COVID Was A Bioweapon That Was ‘Ethnically Targeted’ To Spare Jewish And Chinese People

Last week, wackadoodle conspiracy theorist-turned-Democratic presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy took part in a chaotic press dinner. Initial reports about what happened were understandably distracted by the “loud, prolonged” farting of one of its guests, who had gotten into a raucous argument about climate change. The flatulence was so pronounced that it obscured the fact that RFK Jr. dropped some nonsense worthy of Marjorie Taylor Greene’s “Jewish space lasers.”

As per The New York Post, Kennedy told the Upper East Side crowd of mostly journalists (at least one of them gaseous) his latest take on the pandemic.

“COVID-19. There is an argument that it is ethnically targeted. COVID-19 attacks certain races disproportionately,” Kennedy claimed. “COVID-19 is targeted to attack Caucasians and black people. The people who are most immune are Ashkenazi Jews and Chinese.”

He added, “We don’t know whether it was deliberately targeted or not but there are papers out there that show the racial or ethnic differential and impact.”

Kennedy also warned that there were deadlier bioweapons than COVID-19, which was not a bioweapon. Those, he averred, could have a “50% infection fatality rate” that make COVID “look like a walk in the park.”

Oh, and there was more. “We do know that the Chinese are spending hundreds of millions of dollars developing ethnic bioweapons and we are developing ethnic bioweapons,” Kennedy declared. “They’re collecting Russian DNA. They’re collecting Chinese DNA so we can target people by race.”

As the Post points out, Kennedy’s claims echo decades-old anti-Semitic sentiments that resurfaced amongst certain strains of bigots during the pandemic. Kennedy was pairing that with anti-Chinese vitriol that took off at the same time.

Again, Kennedy is running for president on the Democratic ticket, hoping to peel off voters who may doubt or hate the presumptive nominee, Joe Biden. If his plan fails, at least it will make for a great episode of the HBO show that prominently features his wife.

Ron Perlman Admitted He Got A Bit ‘Heated’ In His Scorched Earth Message To AMPTP Execs

On Thursday, the Writers Guild of America got some new pals on the picket line: SAG-AFTRA, the union representing Hollywood’s actors, voted to go on strike. It was one of the biggest days for labor in decades — the two guilds haven’t gone on strike together since 1960 (when the president of SAG-AFTRA was, of all people, Ronald Reagan) — and, of course, passions flared. Just ask Ron Perlman, who got a little worked-up even by his own admission.

On Friday, the Hellboy star took to Instagram to post a since-deleted video in which he went scorched earth on the studio execs who told Deadline that they were going to “allow things to drag on” until writers (and, now, actors) start “losing their apartments and losing their homes,” which one said was “cruel but necessary.” Perlman, like many, was incensed by those sentiments. But Perlman went farther than most.

“Listen to me, mother*cker. There are a lot of ways to lose your house,” he raged. “Some of it is just figuring who fucking said that…and where he fucking lives.” He added, “Be careful, motherf*cker.”

Later that day, a much calmed-down Perlman posted another video, which wasn’t exactly an apology but did acknowledge that he may have gone too far — while clarifying that he stood by the foundational ideas that got him so worked-up.

“Admittedly I got a bit heated,” Perlman said in the second video. “The asshole who made that comment doesn’t wish anybody any harm.”

But Perlman was still livid about execs saying, in his words, that they weren’t “even going to bargain with these f*cking kids until they start f*cking bleeding and their families start bleeding.”

He called the two strikes a “symptom of a struggle that’s way bigger than the strike itself…a symptom of the soullessness of corporate America and how everything has become corporatized in this country.”

Perlman talked about the strange, Faustian bargain that’s always permeated in Hollywood, in which artists team up with wealthy magnates, who fund their movies and TV shows — and who then get product (for lack of a better word) in exchange.

He also got a bit mushy about the industry in which he’s long worked. “I don’t know where I’d be without movies,” he said, saying they’ve taught him about “the human experience, told in all of its glory, with music and sound and fury.” Execs, he admitted, “enabled all those beautiful experiences”:

“I have nothing but love for the guys who started the studios, but let’s maintain a degree of humanity in all of this. Okay? It can’t all be about your f*cking Porsche. And your f*cking stock prices. There has got to be dignity if we are going to hold the mirror up and reflect the human experience. “

Perlman is no stranger to using social media to unload on powerful people. He has no beef with telling Ted Cruz to “go f*ck yourself” or with calling Ron DeSantis a “f*cking Nazi pig.”

Drake Brought Out J Cole For A Suprise Performance At The Montreal Stop Of The ‘It’s All A Blur Tour’

Last night (July 14), Drake brought the It’s All A Blur Tour> to the Bell Centre in Montreal. Though 21 Savage was notably absent, Drake still had plenty of surprises for fans.

One of them being an appearance by collaborator and longtime friend, rapper J Cole. Cole walked through the crowd wearing a yellow shirt that read “The game has changed, you have been warned.”

Cole later arrived to the stage, where he performed his 2014 hit “No Role Modelz” alongside Drake.

Back in April, the two performed a special set at Cole’s Dreamville Festival 2023 in Raleigh, North Carolina.

At one of Cole’s shows in Miami back in 2021, Drake made a surprise appearance, where he performed three songs from his Certified Lover Boy album, where he told Cole “You are genuinely, without a doubt, one of the greatest rappers to ever touch a mic.”

Though the two rappers’ friendship goes back over a decade, the two have only released a handful of collabs — including 2010’s “In The Morning” and 2013’s “Jodeci Freestyle.” They have, however, loaned each other beats for their projects, and have brought each other out on stage over the years.

You can see some clips from the Montreal concert above.

Beyoncé Poses With Jay-Z And Blue Ivy To Celebrate Her Husband’s ‘The Book Of HOV’ Tribute Exhibit

Beyoncé took to Instagram to share some new pictures from the Brooklyn Public Library’s opening night event for their new Jay-Z-themed exhibit. In the first picture of the slideshow, she posed with a “The Book Of HOV” blue book (named after Jay’s exhibit) — as she stands in the middle of the library stacks.

After a few other selfies, including one where she shows off a sparkly earring, Beyoncé poses with Jay-Z in what appears to be the elevator of the library.

Her daughter, Blue Ivy, was also in attendance. She rocked a blue dress and some sunglasses.

Finally, Beyoncé added some inside glimpses of The Book Of HOV exhibit — between old tour lanyards from the rapper and throwback photos on a wall.

According to Billboard, the Brooklyn Public Library’s The Book Of HOV exhibition includes “archived objects, including original recording masters, never-before-seen photos, iconic stage wear, prestigious awards, and recognitions, as well as videos and artifacts from every facet of Jay-Z’s professional life.”

“We are proud to celebrate his mastery of music, poetry, the written word, and the oral tradition, and we hope the exhibit will inspire visitors to bet on themselves and pursue their own dreams, musical or otherwise,” Linda Johnson, the library’s CEO, also told the publication.

Check out Beyoncé’s Instagram post here.
