Denis Villeneuve Will Only Do One More ‘Dune’ Movie After ‘Part Two,’ Saying The Following Books Get, Well, A Little Too ‘Esoteric’

Frank Herbert’s Dune saga is a weird one to turn into a film franchise, for a number of reasons. For one, there are some huge time jumps between some of the six books, meaning there are no consistent main characters. For another, they, uh, get a little weird! Indeed, they get so weird that after Part Two comes out this fall next March, director Denis Villeneuve will only do one more movie in the series, then he’s out.

In an interview with Empire (as caught by The AV Club), Villeneuve talks about the future of the franchise and his role in it. Right now a lot is up in the air. Just getting Part Two made was enough of a pain, though there’s enough excitement for it that there are at least “words on paper” that he’ll be back for Part Three, i.e., the series’ second, much more manageable book, Dune Messiah.

“If I succeed in making a trilogy, that would be the dream,” Villeneuve said. After that, though, he’ll move on to greener, less dune-y pastures. In part, that’s because from Children of Dune on, the series, in his words, “becomes more… esoteric.”

That’s putting it mildly! Without getting too into it, Herbert’s imagination really runs rampant as the series (or his part of it; he died after writing Chapterhouse: Dune, and the story continued thanks to other writers, including his son) trudges on. Okay, here’s one thing, which is fairly well-known already: By book four, God Emperor of Dune, there’s a giant human-sandworm who f*cks. (To bring that one to freaky life, we recommend rehiring David Lynch, who almost killed his career with the first big screen take on Herbert’s classic, even though it’s also pretty good.)

For now, though, the world still has to wait — even longer than previously thought — to see how Villeneuve tackles the back half of the first book, which is way too dense for one movie anyway. Then if all works out, he’ll move onto Dune Messiah, in which Herbert made explicit that what Paul Atreides did in the first book ain’t so grand — ideas Villeneuve seems to already be exploring in the second part of his adaptation.

Dune: Part Two [sigh] doesn’t hit theaters until March 15. Alas, it’s not the only Zendaya movie to get bumped due to the two-pronged Hollywood strikes.

MJF Pinned Adam Cole In The Main Event Of AEW All In

MJF pinned Adam Cole to retain the AEW World Heavyweight Championship in the main event of AEW All In at Wembley Stadium in London.

After the bell rung, MJF and Cole hopped out of the ring and grabbed their tag team shirts from underneath the ring to a standing ovation from the audience. They grappled around the ring and MJF taunted with a strut across the ring. Cole answered with an ‘Adam Cole Bay Bay’ taunt of his own.

MJF poked Cole in the eye and Cole slapped MJF across the face as their partnership began to dissolve. Cole eventually pulled MJF’s shirt off of him and then raked the champ’s eyes. He set up for a super kick, but MJF countered with a clothesline.

MJF finally landed a dive to the outside, then in the ring traded near falls with Cole. Cole connected on MJF’s Heat Seeker before tossing the champ into the stairs. Cole climbed to the top of the stairs and landed a suplex on MJF on top of the stairs.

MJF beat the count and laid out Cole on the apron. He then pulled off the top to the announce table and set up for a tombstone before ultimately laying Cole down. MJF went back to Cole, but Cole slammed MJF into the table and landed a tombstone of his own. After rolling him into the ring, Cole got a two count.

On their knees, they exchanged blows before making it back to their feet and exchanging another series of shots. When they climbed to their feet, they called for a double clothesline, clotheslined each other and pinned each other for the three count and a draw.

Cole got on the mic and asked for five more minutes. MJF grabbed the mic and said no, that five minutes isn’t enough and said they’d go until there’s a winner. Cole accidentally knocked the referee out, and he immediately went to grab a steel chair. They tossed the chair back and forth before Cole faked being hit with the chair and MJF wrapped the chair around his head.

MJF then rolled up Cole for the two count before hitting the Heat Seeker for another two count. Cole then landed a german suplex on the apron. Cole hit the Panama Sunrise from the apron to the outside, but only got a two count. Cole set MJF for another in the ring, but he landed it on the ref after MJF pulled him into danger’s way.

MJF pulled out the diamond ring from his trunks and decided against it. Roderick Strong then climbed into the ring and hit MJF with a low blow. Cole took advantage and hit the Panama Sunrise before the running knee as he waited for the ref to get up. The ref counted two before MJF was able to kick out.

Strong tossed the championship belt into the ring, Cole took his shirt off, then tossed the title out of the ring. As MJF tried to pick up Cole, he got rolled up for the three count. After the match, MJF tried to give Cole the ROH Tag Championship, but Cole tossed it aside. They teased a split, but Cole ultimately hugged him and rose his hand to end the show.

AEW also announced it will return for All In in 2024 on Sunday, August 25.

Cole and MJF’s story is far from finished after the duo won the ROH Tag Championships from Aussie Open as part of Zero Hour ahead of the show.

A Man Edited Out Of DaBaby’s ‘Ghetto Girls’ Video Accused The Rapper Of Being Homophobic

DaBaby is working hard to regain traction with rap music fans. He’s even attempted to make amends with former friend Megan Thee Stallion following their private fallout. Over the past few months, the rapper has shared several freestyles and singles with supporting music videos. His latest video for the track “Ghetto Girls” is picking up steam but for all the wrong reasons.

On Saturday, August 26, an actor who was slated to appear in the video as the main antagonist accused DaBaby of being homophobic. The extra named Mustang took to Instagram to express his frustrations with DaBaby after he was supposedly edited out of the video due to his past work as an adult film star.

Read Mustang’s full statement via Instagram below.

So a moment of truth….No one is perfect and yet we are all flawed, we all have skeletons in our closets but there in the closest because none of us wont them out for whatever reason. I often times here (some ppl) of the LGBTQ community say live in your truth and while I understand that I think it’s a method for most of the ones saying that to be in yo business and know your business. Im not ashamed of what I like, love, may or may not do but I am a private person and have a right to my privacy and unless I’m involved with a person like that I don’t feel the need to walk around with a flag in my hand or a rainbow 🌈 to let ppl know my business. My past decisions to do gay content and porn at the time was simply about the bag $$$ I didn’t kno ppl like that, I didn’t care about the hype of being a pornstar and while it brought a ok platform it brought me more turmoil than anything, it outted me, separated me from my family for a while trying to hide the truth of what I was doing at the time to make a living and a come up. It messed up friendships I had with ppl who didn’t kno about me , working relationships and all. At one point I almost committed suicide but I had a praying father and family and I kno God wasn’t through with me yet. So I fought sooooo hard not to let porn define me or put me in a box. I wanted my talents to be seen, I wanted ppl to see I was more than a sex symbol but I could be the best at everything I do. I was always taught if I don’t have anything nice to say don’t say anything at all, don’t throw shade, don’t be petty and don’t be envious. If u see someone doing big things congratulate them, learn from them and grow. I have been told NO a million times but I kept being humble, I kept being professional, I kept being cooperative and easy to work with, I kept loving ppl, I kept giving,I kept building and I kept working and God allowed me to get the right YES everytime. I don’t believe in standing with a community of ppl who only come together to talk about your porn career, and bring you down at the highlight of your success. So I was canceled because of my sexuality and porn so to all who played apart, Thanks YOU DID YOUR BIG ONE.

After people online pushed back against Mustang’s claims, he doubled down in a separate post, writing, “They definitely cut me from the whole video because people couldn’t congratulate me or applaud. But had to bring attention to my sexuality which had nothing to do with the video or my performance. So to all the people who went out of their way to expose a part of my life that didn’t have nothing to do with this project, thank y’all for getting me canceled.”

Back in 2021, following his insensitive onstage commentary at Rolling Loud aimed at the LGBTQ community, DaBaby found himself in hot water with several queer entertainers and allies, including Elton John, Lil Nas X, and Madonna. After deleting his initial apology, he then issued another one reflecting on his actions.

Dad puts mic on his 4-year-old while snowboarding. Her ‘we all fall’ song is pure joy.

A father-daughter snowboarding session takes the cuteness up a notch, thanks to dad’s brilliant idea to attach a mic to his 4-year-old. Sweetness ensued.

Sporting an adorable dinosaur onesie, the “powder-saurus” glides through their “secret path,” warning dad of intruders. Cause clearly, it’s THEIR secret path.

As she does, she sings her song of resilience and courage.

“I won’t fall … maybe I will … that’s okay … cause we all fall.”

Truly powerful wisdom in such a tiny package.

@chasing.sage We mic’d up our 4 year old while snowboarding.🥰 #fatherdaughter #dadlife #snowboarding #micdup #cuteness #wholesome #familytime #raddad #fatherhood ♬ original sound – Chasing.Sage

One person astutely wrote in the comments, “this is the mantra we all need in 2022.” I mean … it’s accurate.

Another added, “this child gave a TED Talk about the power of positive self-talk.”

Indeed, “Shredder Dad” shares footage of our loveable snowboarding dinosaur making a few face plants, but she quickly bounces back. Nothing can stop her from her “weewhoos.” Nothing.

That is, until she becomes a “stuck-asaurus.” A truly relatable moment for all ages. Aren’t “indiscernible verbal struggles” part of the soundtrack of life? Still, she takes it all in hilarious stride, laughing all the way, and the positivity is heartwarming.

This video quickly put a smile on more than 6 million faces, and even got a comment from Walmart, which agreed that “we all fall sometimes.”

Turns out that there’s even more wholesome adventure content on the family’s TikTok. They even have a very thorough guide for teaching a toddler to snowboard here.

And by the way, yes, that dinosaur outfit does come in an adult size.

Next time you’re feeling down, just think of the powder-saurus song, and you’ll be back to “weewhoo” in no time.

Jimmy Fallon asked his viewers why their high school was ‘weird’ and the responses were great

High schools are a perfect breeding ground for weirdness. First of all, you have a bunch of teenagers who are starting to deal with adult problems but they don’t have the experience or the brain development to figure out how to navigate complex feelings and relationships.

Then you add sex, drugs, learner’s permits, the stress of trying to get into college and really bad facial hair to the situation and you have all the ingredients for people and situations to go completely sideways.

Then there are the teachers. High school teachers tend to be a bit more eccentric than those in the younger grades because they are hired as specialists in a given field, such as history, math or science. Whereas teachers in younger grades have to be nurturing and have a more holistic approach to child development.

Also, hindsight makes a lot of things that seemed normal at the time begin to seem a bit strange. As we get older and have a firm grasp on the realities of being an adult, there are some things that we can’t believe we lived through as teenagers in high school.

When I was in high school we had a drama teacher that sat in the gym and chain-smoked while we rehearsed the play and we didn’t think anything of it. I’m pretty sure my home economics teacher hit the cooking sherry during lunchtime, and we got a day off from school due to the L.A. riots in 1992.

Everyone dealt with some amount of weirdness while they were in high school, so Jimmy Fallon asked his “Tonight Show” audience to share their stories with #MyHighSchoolWasWeird and he read some of his favorites on his show.

We took a look at the hashtag and picked some of the responses we liked the most. Here are 19 of them. Why was your high school weird? Tell us in the comments on Facebook.

If you look back at how you acted, dressed and behaved in high school and have a little bit of shame, that’s probably a good thing. If you cringe a little when you think about your former self, that shows that you’ve grown as a person.

But wouldn’t it be great if you could go back to high school knowing what you know now? How much easier would it be to approach that special person you wanted to ask to the dance but couldn’t muster up the courage? How much more would you appreciate those carefree days when all you had to worry about was a bio test or who had a crush on whom in homeroom?

Personally, if I went back to high school I’d have a lot more appreciation for my teachers knowing just how hard of a job they have. Now that I’m an adult I have a lot more sympathy for what we put them through and I can totally understand why teaching at a high school can turn someone a little weird.

Here’s Jimmy Fallon reading off some of his responses to #MyHighSchoolWasWeird.

Postal carrier had a ‘gut feeling’ after seeing mail pile up for three days. It saved a life.

Kayla Berridge had been walking her normal 9-mile delivery route in Newmarket, a small town in New Hampshire, when she noticed something unusual.

The mail she had been delivering continued to pile up over a matter of days at one resident’s home. The resident was an elderly woman in her 80s, and would occasionally share a chat with Berridge, according to CNN.

Berridge told CNN that after noticing the unattended mail pile, she got “a little concerned.”

“I just had this gut feeling and wanted to make sure,” Berridge told WMUR 9 News, explaining that “most people put a hold in if they’re not there, so when people pick up their mail every day, you start to notice their habits.” Not to mention, the woman’s car was still in the driveway.

Berridge followed her instincts and called the local police department for a wellness check, and in the process saved the elderly woman’s life.

CNN reported that officers found the woman trapped on her bedroom floor under heavy artwork and frames. The theory is she tried to use her bed for support, and in the process these items on the bed fell onto her, pinning her down for three full days. Though she was suffering from hypothermia and dehydration, Police Lt. Wayne Stevens confirmed she was stable and recovering.

I can only imagine the agony and fear this poor woman was in, lying in the cold and not knowing if help would come. Luckily, help was on the way, and this story has a happy ending.

In this instance, the familiarity that comes from living in a small town really paid off. “Everyone has each other’s backs,” Berridge told CNN.

But Officer Stevens wanted to give credit where credit was due. He agreed that Berridge’s quick thinking was “part of being a letter carrier in a small town,” he added that her actions were “taking your job to the next level.”

While wellness or welfare checks have historically been associated with the elderly, they are seen as an equally “critical tool” for the safety of many young people as well, especially with the “rise of suicide rates among adolescents and young adults.”

An example of this is when “Saturday Night Live” star Pete Davidson received a wellness check back in 2018. The comedian posted an alarming message to Instagram, saying “I really don’t want to be on this Earth anymore. I actually don’t know how much longer I can last.” This was after breaking off his engagement with Ariana Grande.

Though it certainly didn’t happen in a small town, the interconnectedness of social media helped raise some red flags and prompted authorities to make a visit.

If there’s anything to make you question someone’s well-being, it’s better to be safe than sorry.

Women are cheering on a mom who left her husband after he refused to clean the house for 6 days

A viral TikTok video highlights an extreme version of inequality that many wives and mothers in heterosexual relationships face. However, the mom in this story hit her limit and won’t deal with it anymore.

Lynalice Bandy, who goes by @5kids5catssomedogstoo on TikTok, posted a video that showed her home looking like a disaster after she worked six 10-hour days straight while her husband did nothing to help.

Her time-lapse video shows every room in the house completely trashed, with toys, food and laundry scattered everywhere. “Shampoo on the carpets in the girls’ room, nail polish all over Nugget covers, hair, and carpet. Scissors were used to cut hair, the down comforter, the mattress cover, and two Nugget covers,” wrote the mom.

“I’ve worked six, ten-hour days in a row with only one day off being a sick day,” she captioned the video. “I’d like to pretend I’m not the only person who cleans here, but as you can see…These rooms don’t get much attention when I’m not here.”

@5kids5catssomedogstoo

#divorce #parentingfail #messyhouse #whenwomen #depressionanxiety #clean #satifying

She says her husband’s excuse was that he was focused on doing his schoolwork and couldn’t pay attention to the kids. “Now, that school is out for a break, he doesn’t have that excuse anymore,” Bandy says, noting that all of his attention has been focused on “the four vehicles in our driveway that he wants to work on continuously.”

In a follow-up video, Bandy announced that she left her husband after the debacle. The original video received over 17,000 comments, many of which were from supportive women.

“You deserve much better, and he deserves to be alone. Much love to you from someone that left that life behind almost 20 yrs ago. You’ll get here, too,” Angela LaRoche wrote.

“Ma’am, you are nothing short of amazing! Hang in there!” Japanese with Jenny wrote.

“That home is beautiful because of YOU,” Hillary added. “You put in so much work, and it is not unseen by me and so many others. But, you DO deserve better. Proud of you.”

@5kids5catssomedogstoo

Sounds about right…

Even though Bandy’s experience with her husband is an extreme case of a couple whose domestic duties are way out of balance, it points to a problem that plagues many households. Even though it’s 2023 and families are becoming more equal, women still do significantly more housework than men.

A study utilizing data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics’ American Time Use Survey found that women 15 years and older spend 5.7 hours daily doing housework and looking after kids and elders. Men in the same age group do an average of 3.6 hours of daily domestic work.

That’s a 37% difference in time spent on household responsibilities.

Further, women who work an average of 35 hours a week spend 4.9 hours a day on household chores and child care, while men who work the same amount spend an average of 3.8 hours.

The comments show that there are a lot of women out there who are frustrated with their husbands for not doing their fair share. Hopefully, this video will encourage more people to speak out about domestic inequality and for more men to step up and do their part.

Tense video shows a woman filming herself after sensing a man following her. She was right.

It’s no secret that even the most seemingly safe of public places can instantly turn dangerous for a woman. Is it fair? No. But is it common? Absolutely, to the point where more and more women are documenting moments of being stalked or harassed as a grim reminder to be aware of one’s surroundings.

Lacie (@lacie_kraatz) is one of those women. On April 11th, she was out on a run when she noticed a man in front of her displaying suspicious behavior. Things got especially dicey when the man somehow got behind her. That’s when she pulled out her phone and started filming—partially to prove that it wasn’t just her imagination, and also out of fear for her safety.

“Hello. I’m just making this video so that women are a little more aware of them,” she begins in the video. “See this gentleman behind me? Yeah, this is what this video’s about.”

According to Lacie, the two were initially running in opposite directions. But at some point after seeing her, the man stopped in the middle of the trail and waited for her to pass so that he could follow her path from behind.

“Now, I know what you’re thinking—‘Why are you suspecting that he’s following you?’” Lacie continues. “Well, let me tell you. I was just walking like this, and I look up, and he’s in front of me, and he just keeps doing a ‘peek’ like this behind him, over and over again.”

Lacie added that at one point, she even made an illegal crossing when “do not walk” sign was still up in an attempt to put some distance between herself and the man. After looking over her shoulder, she noticed that the man was visibly “speeding” to keep up.

In case there is still any doubt, Lacie then begins to run to see if the man will follow suit. Sure enough, he does.

Luckily the man eventually seems to give up, though he still seems to be watching her from a distance. Lacie ends up safe back home, but she didn’t even accomplish what she set out to do that afternoon.

“I couldn’t even finish my run,” she concludes. “I only ran like a mile and a half. I wanted to do 3 miles, but no—creepy men just had to be creepy f****** men today.”

Watch:

@lacie_kraatz #foryou #ladies #awareness ♬ original sound – Lacie

Countless women empathized with Lacie in the comments section. Clearly, this was not a unique circumstance.

“What I do when I’m being followed is act feral,” yet another person shared. “Like I’ll bark and growl really loud and flail my arms around. If you look crazy, you’re doin’ it right.”

Another added, “Man, nothing pisses me off more than men who make me feel uncomfortable doing things that I NEED to do for my health and well-being.”

Others tried to give their own tips for handling the situation, from finding nearby police or fire stations to using a variety of running trails to simply notifying the first visible passerby of what’s happening and asking to stand with them.

And of course, the resounding advice was to use the public space, and modern-day technology, to one’s advantage.

As one person wrote, “Girls we have got to normalize turning around and yelling at people following us. Let them know you know, take pictures of them, scream, make a scene.”

It’d be nice if these kinds of unsettling interactions didn’t exist. But here we are. At the very least, it’s good that women are speaking up more so that these situations are easier to spot early on and women can know how to navigate them in the safest way possible.

Azealia Banks Sort Of Praised Nicki Minaj’s ‘Last Time I Saw You’ Single Promo Images, But It Wasn’t Without Some Shade

Nicki Minaj is moving full steam ahead on her forthcoming album, Pink Friday 2, to ensure it drops on its November 11 release date. After teasing several unreleased song snippets on TikTok, Minaj took to Instagram on Friday, August 25, to announce her next single, “Last Time I Saw You,” with new promotional images and a video.

The materials were enough to break down the defenses of a notorious online hater of all things, Azealia Banks. In a screenshot captured by Pop Crave, Banks took to her Instagram stories to praise Minaj’s beauty in a lengthy note underlined with shade.

“Like I would never even think you’d like something like this,” wrote Banks. “This is the best look I have ever seen you in. Ever, okay? It’s soft, it’s delicate, it’s kinda North African vibes, it’s bohemian, your facial expression is so relaxed and radiant, and this body?! Nicki, I’ve never seen you look this comfortable in your own skin! Yes. This is sensuality, honey, okay.”

She continued, “Nicki, if you get some cute little Russian twists cuts going, it’s over. Like so, so over. Nah, after this, I never wanna see you choked up in a waist trainer ever again. I’m not even trying to shade you, but you have never ever looked this chic, stylish, sexy, or at ease.”

Banks has said some disgusting things online, including her insensitive remarks about the late social media influencer Jacky Oh. Could this be the dawning of a new era for her?

Nicki Minaj has not shared any further updates regarding her upcoming single “Last Time I Saw You.”

Sting And Darby Allin Defeated Swerve Strickland And Christian Cage At AEW All In

Sting and Darby Allin defeated Christian Cage and Swerve Strickland in a coffin match at AEW All In: London in front of the largest paid attendance in pro wrestling history.

While Strickland got a live entrance, Cage had a Big Ben-themed video and Sting revealed himself as Joker Sting.

When the match started, Cage and Sting knocked Allin and Strickland out of the ring early ahead of a TNA chant. Sting and Allin put on matching jackets before hitting stereo Stinger splashes. In the ring, Cage tied Allin’s hands behind his back while Strickland beat Sting up outside the ring. After Allin knocked both men down, Sting untied his hands and they went to work on Strickland.

Cage tossed Sting into the stairs, then attempted a conchairto on Allin, but he moved. Sting crashed Strickland through a table on the outside before Allin dropkicked Cage from the top rope onto a chair. Sting and Allin then tried to stuff Cage into the coffin, but Luchasaurus came to his rescue. Luchasaurus then tossed Allin head-first into the coffin. Nick Wayne ran down to the ring and hit him with a skateboard, but Luchasaurus turned around and chokeslammed him onto the skateboard.

Sting then set Strickland up on the coffin for a Coffin Drop from Allin, but Strickland moved. Strickland and Cage tried to double team Sting, but he fought both of them off and hit Stinger Splashes. Sting locked in the Scorpion Deathlock on Cage before Strickland hit him with a chair to no effect. Cage hit Sting with a low blow, then a bat to the chest. Strickland hit a double stomp to Sting from the top rope before they dragged the coffin into the ring.

On the outside, Cage tossed Allin into the guardrail and Strickland tossed Sting into the casket, but he stopped the coffin from closing with his bat. Strickland tried to hit a 450 splash onto Sting, who was laying on the coffin, but he moved. Sting then hit the Scorpion Deathdrop on Strickland onto the coffin.

Sting tried to shut Strickland in the coffin, but he stuck his hands out. With his body sticking out of the coffin, Allin hit the Coffin Drop on the coffin, shoving him back in and ending the match.

Strickland and Cage set up their showdown with Sting and Allin after Nick Wayne was attacked at the Buddy Wayne Academy in Seattle by Strickland and A.R. Fox. Fox turned on Allin and Wayne, before Strickland kicked him out of the Mogul Embassy after a loss to Wayne and Allin last week.
