As A Valentine’s Day Gesture, Sexyy Red’s First Boyfriend Robbed Someone For Her, And She Thought It Was ‘So Sweet’

Sexyy Red will embarking on her Hood Hottest Princess Tour next month, but first, the St. Louis rapper took a trip down memory lane with Montreality.

In a 13-minute video posted to YouTube on Tuesday, September 12, Sexyy Red recalled her childhood, even reluctantly reliving her terrible prom and more fondly remembering a unique romantic gesture.

“I spent a lot on my dress,” she said. “I ran for prom queen. I didn’t win because I was bad, and they tried to make me write an essay to let me run. I was bad. I was getting suspended and stuff, skipping school. I wasn’t doing no work, for real, and then I tried to come run for prom. They was like, ‘You ain’t even been here! How you trying to run?’ […] When I did go, the dress that I got made, it was so ugly. I was crying the day of prom. The lady thought she did that. She showed me the dress. I just started crying. I’m like, ‘This ugly!’ And I spent hella money on that sh*t.”

Treating herself didn’t work out for Sexyy Red, but high school wasn’t all for naught. Her first boyfriend’s unconventional efforts weren’t in vain, as she credited him as responsible for “the most romantic thing somebody did for me”:

“It was Valentine’s Day — I’ll never forget. He robbed somebody and gave me the money and gave me the belt he stole, and it was just so sweet because he was out of breath and stuff. He was like, ‘Here, I just got this for you.’ I was like, ‘Ah! So sweet! Thank you!’ ‘Cause nobody never did nothing like that for me. He stole for me, so I’m like, ‘You did that for me? Really?’

I was 15. It was my first boyfriend, and it was the first time somebody had ever got me a gift or tried to do something for me. And I know he didn’t have it, so the fact that you still made a way and you did what you had to do, that was nice. And it was only $13, but it was nice. And it was a fake Gucci belt!”

Elsewhere in the interview, Red discussed Facebook (surprisingly, her preferred social media), love, “Pound Town,” superpowers, tattoos, toxic traits, and a message to the youth. Watch it above.

Olivia Rodrigo’s Favorite Band Right Now Is Rage Against The Machine And Tom Morello Is Amused

Olivia Rodrigo unleashed her sophomore album Guts last week. She gave a fiery performance at the MTV VMAs and announced a highly anticipated world tour. A major part of her appeal is her ability to mesh pop with rock, and in her interview with Rolling Stone she divulged who her favorite band is at the moment.

“I have been listening to so much Rage Against The Machine this year,” she said. “That’s my favorite band right now. I would just play it over and over again on my way to and from the studio. I want to go to the Rock Hall Of Fame so bad because they’re getting inducted.”

She has to miss it because of “some immovable schedule conflict.” “I am literally going to cry myself to sleep about it,” she added.

Tom Morello reacted with a tweet: “Who would have guessed?”

Elsewhere in her Rolling Stone interview, she acknowledged the issues with song credits. “I was a little caught off guard,” she said about Paramore’s Hayley Williams and Josh Farro being added as writers on the Sour hit “Good 4 U.” She continued, “At the time, it was very confusing, and I was green and bright-eyed and bushy-tailed. Is that the phrase? It’s not something that I was super involved in. It was more team-on-team. So, I wouldn’t be the best person to ask.”

Justin Jefferson Talks Music, Ja’Marr Chase, And Why He Keeps A Chip On His Shoulder

Every offseason, the NFL puts out an official ranking of 100 players, regardless of position, based on a vote by players around the league. In 2023, no wide receiver was ranked more highly than Justin Jefferson of the Minnesota Vikings, who came in as the second-best player in the league behind only Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes.

It’s quite the honor for Jefferson, who is entering this season with the hopes of achieving his short-term goal (winning a Super Bowl) on the road towards his long-term goal (getting enshrined in the Pro Football Hall of Fame when his career comes to an end). But before he started the journey that is the 2023 NFL season, the All-Pro wide receiver decided to try his hand at something new: rapping.

Jefferson teamed up with London on da Track to create an new song for Under Armour around its recently-renewed “Protect This House” slogan. While Jefferson is more well-known for doing incredible things on the football field, this gave him an opportunity to try something new, as the rollout will include a hero film that took place in his hometown of Saint Rose, La., and at Destrehan High School, where Jefferson spent his high school years.

“Protect This House is iconic,” Jefferson said in a statement. “It means a lot to me to be part of it with Under Armour and work with London on da Track, one of the top producers in the world, to record a custom version of the chant that captures what I’m about and will hopefully get a new generation of athletes hyped up. Music and football are so connected — this is a perfect combination of the two and something I’m very excited about.”

In the lead-up to the release and prior to the Vikings’ season opener against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Uproxx Sports caught up with Jefferson to discuss everything he had going on off the field, the upcoming NFL season, and more.

Under Armour

I want to talk about what you got going on with Under Armour, how did this come about?

Well, first of all, to have been with Under Armour since I’ve been in the league, they’ve been phenomenal with just having the right stuff for me, on and off the field, having me comfortable with the things that I wear. The relationship has been great, as well. So now, to renew my deal and to have a new set of years that I’m looking forward to is definitely going to be exciting, and I can’t wait for what we have in store for the future.

But with the commercial, it was amazing to be a part of it, just to have it back in my hometown, to have it with London on da Track, and to just be a part of this whole campaign, it was something that was interesting to be a part of and I was definitely excited to have some of my younger guys be a part of it, and to experience a commercial, what I go through.

I was gonna say, it seemed like the ad and even before that, getting to record the music, all of that, it seemed like you had a blast.

For sure. I mean, something that I’m not accustomed to, something I’m not used to being a part of, and especially being with someone that has been with so many different artists and did so many different tracks. So, it was crazy to see how it normally goes and how he put things together, mix things up. It was something that I definitely learned from and I was glad to be a part of it and see it for the first time.

So now that you’ve done this, are there any guys in sports — in the NFL or the NBA — that maybe you want to collaborate with on a track someday?

Damian Lillard definitely be spittin’. So, whenever Dame wanna let me know whenever to holla at him and get on a track, we definitely could do it.

So let’s talk a little football. Just generally, how’s your offseason been?

It’s been great. Dealing with all the endorsement deals, have done this commercial, it was definitely a great offseason. Exploring the world a little bit and enjoying my off time from football, and also working to towards a bigger and better goal for this upcoming season. So, it was definitely something I was excited about. This whole offseason was to travel and to see the see the world and it was a great adventure.

You say something bigger and better this season, what are you working towards?

Super Bowl, like normal, but it’s something that is more focused on. It’s not about the individual goals, not about what I do for myself, it’s about the team, it’s about getting that Super Bowl and getting to the Hall of Fame status. That’s something that I want to do at the end of my career. And of course, it doesn’t happen now. But I can definitely get ready for it in the future just by having better play, keeping up the performance that I’ve been having since I stepped foot into the league. Just maintaining my body throughout the years.

I feel like in seeing people talk about football this year, we’ve gotten to a point where you’re viewed as the clear cut, no doubt, best wide receiver in the NFL. Do you feel like you are or do you feel like you’re still constantly working towards that?

I feel like everyone doesn’t believe that. And that’s what keeps me motivated to try to prove people wrong. I want to be the clear number one, just like a LeBron James, he’s the clear number one best player in the world. Michael Jordan is the clear, best player in the world. So, that’s something that I want to be a part of, and have my name in that conversation. So, it’s just about proving everybody wrong and keeping that chip on my shoulder to keep me motivated.

The funny thing is for me, one and two for the best wide receivers in the league just happened to have been teammates in college. How would you and Ja’Marr push each other in practice at LSU every day, and even though you’re not teammate, do you still feel like you two are pushing each other every day?

At LSU, just being side by side with one another, we’re always competing with one another, we’re always trying to outdo one another, just try to perform better and outperform one another. So, it always was a competitive thing with us, we always used to bet on who would get the most yards or who would get the most touchdowns or who would have the better one hander. That definitely kept us motivated to try to be better than one another, and to see it now coming on into the league, and it’s just seeing we’re still on top.

I definitely can remember us looking at film of NFL receivers like, “man, we could do the same thing, we can do the same exact thing.” And so happened, as soon as we touched foot into league, we went crazy. So, it goes to show you the amount of talent that we had on that team, and of course, still today, we still call each other, still nitpick on the things that we do. We call each other if we’re seeing that opponent and they’ve seen them already. We’re brothers at the end of the day and we’re always rooting for each other.

Let’s talk about the Vikings for a sec — 13-4, won the NFC North, got to the playoffs for the first time in your career. How have you guys built on all of that this offseason?

Well, first of all, it’s hard to go 13-4 with a first-year head coach, with a whole new offense, a whole new coaching staff. It’s definitely something that’s difficult to do. So, we’re not far from reaching where we need to go and where we would like to be. So, it’s just fixing the little things that we felt that we needed to fix in the offseason by picking up people, training people, getting new deals and new opportunities to really better our team. So, it’s definitely great to see, the comfortability that Kirk has in the second year offense, and in me, KJ, Jordan Addison, and the rest of the guys that we have on the team. I’m definitely excited to see how we do this season.

I wanted to ask about Jordan. He’s a big name from college, got brought into that wide receiver room, what has stuck out about him through camp and during the preseason?

He’s definitely smooth, he has great transition on all his routes, and he knows football, he’s a smart guy, he doesn’t really talk much, but he lets his play do the talking. So, he’s definitely confident in his play style, and we’re always telling him, he doesn’t really need to fill in a major role, we just need you to be you and to let the game come to you as it would normally. Don’t let the NFL or the bright lights really affect your playstyle or how you normally play the game. So, it’s really just trying to have him as comfortable as possible, not trying to let the lights really get too bright for him and letting everybody’s expectations of what role he is filling really get too high for him.

I haven’t gotten to check out that Quarterback show yet, but everyone I know who has seen it talks about Kirk and his personality. Have you seen it and are you glad people are seeing that side of Kirk?

For sure. Yeah, I definitely watched the show. I was glad that they did the show on Kirk, just to see Kirk’s personality, how Kirk acts throughout the season, the difficulties that he goes through throughout the whole season. It’s definitely tough, people get to see why they’re the highest paid in the league. Just to see the difficulty, the difficult things that they have to go through — learning the plays, having to recall the plays, and having to deal with the grown big men rushing after him every single play. So, it definitely was a great series and glad that they got to see how Kirk really acts.

Trump Is Still Bitter About A ‘Nasty’ Question That Megyn Kelly Asked Him Years Ago

During Donald Trump‘s first Republican presidential debate, back in 2015, he was asked by moderator Megyn Kelly if he thinks America should elect someone who has called women “fat pigs,” “dogs,” “slobs,” and “disgusting animals.” America would provide an answer the following year, but on that night, Trump answered, “What I say is what I say, and honestly, Megyn, if you don’t like it, I’m sorry. I’ve been very nice to you, although I could probably maybe not be based on the way you’ve treated me, but I wouldn’t do that.”

Thus began a war of words between Trump and Kelly, although she now claims it’s over. “Now one of the most interesting things I did was have a private audience with former President Donald Trump,” the conservative pundit said earlier this year. “When he came into the arena, we met just one on one, and his team was standing nearby, but he and I got a one on one together for the first time in years and it was, frankly, great to see him.”

Trump is still holding a grudge, however. In a clip from Kelly’s interview with the former president on The Megyn Kelly Show, which airs on Thursday, Trump accused Kelly of asking a “bad” and “nasty” question during the debate. He’s the world champion of bullsh*t — and never forgetting even the most minor insult. It might be why he decided to run for president in the first place.

Tinashe Calls It ‘So Embarrassing’ That She’s Collaborated With Chris Brown And R. Kelly, And She Explained Why She Did

Tinashe just released her new album, BB/Ang3l, but if you dig back further into the archives, there’s some work that she’s not proud of. Specifically, she recently spoke about her “embarrassing” collaborations with Chris Brown and R. Kelly (“Player” and “Let’s Be Real Now,” respectively, both from when she was signed with RCA Records in 2015).

In an interview on the Zach Sang Show yesterday (September 13), Tinashe was asked if her collaborations with Brown and Kelly were among “things that felt label-y,” meaning things she was essentially forced to do. She laughed and responded, “You think I wanted to? [laughs] I literally… I block out that R. Kelly song from my mind. I forget that it even exists. That is so embarrassing. That is so unreal that I even have a song with R. Kelly. That’s so embarrassing. Yes, that was label-y! […] And I was so young, too, which is crazy because I feel like I did that song when I just signed to that label. I was probably, like, 20. That was crazy.”

Sang then commented that despite public perceptions of those collaborations being something that Tinashe was totally on board with, she probably lacked a lot of control over the situation. Tinashe responded, “You do, a thousand percent. Especially when it comes to singles, for example — that song with Chris [Brown]: that was a song that I put a lot of… we all wanted it to be this big moment, this big single. So I feel like, in their mind, they were like, ‘You need the support.’ He was their biggest artist that they had on rhythmic radio at the time. To me, I was like, ‘Well, this is a pop song. So, I really don’t feel like we should put Chris on it.’ That doesn’t compute to me, but… I don’t know.”

Will Taylor Swift Perform At The National’s Homecoming Festival?

The National are days away from staging their first Homecoming Festival since the 2018 inaugural event. In May, the band announced the two-day festival was returning to Cincinnati, Ohio on Friday, September 15, and Saturday, September 16.

On Friday, The National’s headlining set will find them performing their High Violet album “from beginning to end,” according to the festival’s official website, and they’ll do the same with their Trouble Will Find Me album on Saturday. The lineup also features the likes of Patti Smith, Pavement, Snail Mail, The Walkmen, and Weyes Blood.

But as is the case with nearly everything, there is Taylor Swift speculation. Swift is the featured artist on “The Alcott,” a track on The National’s April album, First Two Pages Of Frankenstein. The National was also featured on Swift’s “Coney Island” from her Grammy-winning Evermore album.

While Swift has known Matt Berninger for over a decade, as he told the Cincinnati Enquirer this week, Aaron Dessner has become one of Swift’s closest collaborators and made a few surprise appearances throughout the first US leg of Swift’s The Eras Tour. Will Swift repay the favor and appear at Homecoming?

There has been no such announcement as of this writing, and Swift seemed delighted to have a break from the stage during last night’s (September 12) 2023 MTV Music Video Awards. Anything is possible, but it appears that the next time anyone sees Swift perform will be when The Eras Tour resumes in Buenos Aires, Argentina on November 9. See all of her dates here, and find more information about Homecoming here.

Who Is Opening The Walkmen’s 2023 North American Tour?

The Walkmen are set to perform this Friday, September 15, at The National’s Homecoming Festival in Cincinnati, Ohio. That set is more or less an appetizer for their headlining North American tour, which began on Wednesday, September 13, at Lincoln Theatre in Washington, DC and will pick back up at Brooklyn Bowl in Nashville, Tennessee on September 16.

A revolving door of openers will feature throughout the run, according to an Instagram post by The Walkmen on August 9. Yeah Baby is responsible for September 13, 16, 18, 21, 24, 26, and 27. Martin Courtney will take over for the September 29 show at Fox Theater in Oakland, California. The next one-off opener will be Taper’s Choice on October 2 at The Fonda Theatre in Los Angeles, California, followed by Cash & Skye on October 3 at LA’s The Fonda Theatre and Emile Mosseri for the third and final Fonda Theatre show on October 4.

Heavy Medo is set for October 6 at Longhorn Ballroom in Dallas Texas. Kiwi Jr will warm up the stage on October 11 at History in Toronto, Ontario, Canada before Rostam tackles two dates: October 14 in Boston, Massachusetts and October 17 in Brooklyn, New York. Cosmic Guilt handles the October 15 finale at Asbury Lanes in Asbury Park, New Jersey. See all of the dates here.

In April, The Walkmen performed together for the first time in 10 years on The Late Show With Stephen Colbert, sparking fans’ curiosities about the state of their reunion moving forward. Upon their May announcement of their fall tour dates, band member Peter Matthew Bauer offered a statement, which can be read below.

“The last few weeks have been an absolute blast.

Honestly, when we decided to get back together to play these shows, we had no idea if anyone would even show up. It’s been an incredible joy seeing all these people out there, playing these shows, getting to run into old friends from all over the world.

There was a review of our first show back that said something really nice — that it felt like ‘time was bending back on itself.’ It really has and it’s been the strangest feeling. We all flew to New York, had dinner at Hamilton’s house with his family and actually did not practice as promised. The next day we played the Stephen Colbert show live on television. I think each of us hold on to playing Letterman as a very important memory. So, to be back at the Ed Sullivan Theater and be playing this song for the first time in ten years with your friends was like an out of body experience.

We are just getting going and I’m not really sure we want it to end. I will say, after being the dummy who I guess broke the band up last time saying something about an ‘extreme hiatus,’ I’m going to avoid saying anything like that again. I will say, what makes it all special is when you don’t know what’s going to happen next and when you can actually wonder if this is the last time you’re ever going to get the chance to do this. Everything feels ragged and lively which is what all of us thought was good about the band in the first place.

So, I don’t know what happens next but I do know these shows are just about the end of what’s happening now. We are headed west across the USA this fall. We’ll go all the way to California and the Pacific Northwest and play cities we haven’t in many years ultimately ending back east. Also, there’s still some tickets available for our UK run, so check the site and grab. We’ve got maybe one or two more in us to announce in the coming weeks. But that is it (I guess?)”

Lauren Boebert Allegedly Refused To Stop Vaping In Front Of A Pregnant Woman Before Getting Kicked Out Of ‘Beetlejuice’

Lauren Boebert once heckled Joe Biden while he was talking about his dead son Beau. Perhaps it wasn’t all too surprising when she was kicked out of a regional production of Beetlejuice for unruly behavior. Since the news broke Tuesday, more details have emerged of her antics, including video of her and her guest being booted. Now the woman who had the misfortune of sitting behind her is spilling some further unpleasant tea.

As per The Daily Beast, the unhappy theatergoer opened up to The Denver Post about her experiences having the musical take on Tim Burton’s beloved sophomore feature ruined by the MAGA lawmaker. “I’ve never seen anyone act like that before,” she said. For one thing, she spent the show singing along “loudly with her hands in the air.”

Boebert has claimed that she didn’t do one of the more outrageous things of she’s accused: vaping. Not so, said the woman. Indeed, she kept asking Boebert to stop because she’s pregnant. But all Boebert would do was say “no.”

The woman confirmed that Boebert kept taking video of the show for long stretches at a time. She also spent some time “kissing the man she was with,” who turned out to be a Democrat and bar guy who hosts drag shows.

It got so bad that during intermission the woman asked an usher if she could switch seats, only to be told, “You’re not the first complaint [we’ve] had.” When Boebert returned for Act II, she called the woman a “sad and miserable person.”

Reports claim Boebert then started acting back up again, only to be be quickly escorted out of the theater. Sounds bad, but at least the woman didn’t have to see the new Back to the Future musical with Marjorie Taylor Greene.

Who Is Peso Pluma?

Peso Pluma was nominated for three awards — Best New Artist, Best Latin, and Song Of Summer — at the 2023 MTV Video Music Awards, where he performed “Lady Gaga.” He didn’t win any of them, but he has much more serious matters to worry about.

As reported by The Arizona Republic and translated by USA Today, Pluma was threatened by Mexico’s Jalisco New Generation Cartel, as evidenced by a banner spotted in Tijuana earlier in the day. According to the publications, the banner read, “This goes to Peso Pluma, refrain from presenting yourself on October 14 because it will be your last show due to your disrespect and loose tongue, you show up and we are going to [break you].”

Subsequently, Fiserv Forum in Milwaukee, Wisconsin posted Pluma’s concert scheduled for Thursday, September 14, “due to unforeseen circumstances.”

Pluma has not publicly addressed the scary situation, instead posting shots from his 2023 MTV VMAs debut on Wednesday, September 13. According to his official website, his next scheduled concert is set for September 28 at Reno Events Center in Reno, Nevada.

As per Billboard, The 24-year-old Pluma (real name Hassan Emilio Kabande Laija) was born near Guadalajara, Mexico but spent his adolescence in San Antonio, Texas and New York, New York. According to Hypebeast, Pluma’s stage name, which translates to “featherweight,” was inspired by “the legendary Mexican boxer Marco Antonio Barrera” because of his lean stature. His July album, Genesis, debuted at No. 3 on the Billboard 200 and has spent 11 weeks on the chart so far. To date, Pluma has 21 entries on the Billboard Hot 100 singles chart, including “Ella Baila Sola” (No. 4 peak).

“It’s a very beautiful song that was written by my friend Pedro Tovar,” Pluma told Uproxx in an interview published around the release of Genesis, speaking of his highest-charting Hot 100 single. “He has his group Eslabon Armado. He invited me to a part of their album Desvelado on that song. Thanks to God it was the song that performed the best on the album. It’s the song that’s racked up all these numbers. I’m very grateful and happy that they had me be a part of this and that everyone has liked it. Now there are remixes of it in all genres. I’m very proud to be Mexican and to raise the Mexican flag high up.”

Pluma added, “I’m very shocked to see how música Mexicana and corridos have reached such a level that people who didn’t like them at all are now the same people who are asking for corridos in the nightclubs. They’re the same people who are asking for this music everywhere. We’re very grateful that this has become something that’s global.”

Billboard additionally relayed that Pluma’s Genesis earned 101.8 million streams during the charting week of July 8, giving him “the largest streaming week ever for a regional Mexican album” up to that point. In doing so, Pluma had 25 songs simultaneously slotted on the Hot Latin Songs chart, besting global giant Bad Bunny‘s 24 — the record since May 2022.

Drake Surprised Fans By Announcing A SZA Collaboration As The Next Single From ‘For All The Dogs’

Drake wasn’t invited to be in SZA’s “Snooze” video — those invitations were reserved for Justin Bieber, Benny Blanco, Young Mazino, and Woody McClain — but that might be because he already had something booked with her.

On Wednesday night, September 13, Drake posted more context clues about the next single from his For All The Dogs album on Instagram. The photo is of Halle Berry getting slimed at the 2012 Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards with a simple caption of a wide-eyed emoji and a lime green heart emoji. However, one tap on the photo reveals that SZA is tagged. SZA also posted the photo, presumably meaning she is the featured artist on the song. It appears that this is the record that Drake previously announced would drop on September 15 as the next single from For All The Dogs.

On Monday, September 11, Drake told his It’s All A Blur Tour crowd in Austin, Texas, “I know y’all are excited to hear the album. I know it’s like two weeks out, but I’m gonna drop a song this week – just to let you know what’s up.”

Drake’s For All The Dogs is due out on September 22, as he confirmed last Wednesday (September 6) via a throwback video of his father, Dennis Graham.

Last week also saw SZA treat fans to an SOS Album Celebration concert at The Navy Yard in Brooklyn, New York with the souvenir of news that she will drop a deluxe version of her perennial No. 1 SOS album sometime this fall.
