Popular life hack has people putting their toilet paper in the refrigerator

Before the COVID-19 pandemic, people took toilet paper—especially its availability—for granted. Everyone who experienced those hectic days probably has a new appreciation when they roll down the aisle of their local supermarket and see fully stocked shelves of TP.

A new trend shows that people aren’t only appreciating their toilet paper but finding new ways to use it that go beyond its traditional use: keeping toilet paper in their refrigerators. The most common reason is that it is an effective and affordable way to keep them smelling fresh and clean. It seems that TP’s absorbent qualities go far beyond the bathroom.

The new practice has been popularized on TikTok, where most new life hack trends seem to be springing up these days.

In late September, TikTok user @Ezenwanyibackup shared a toilet-paper-in-the-fridge hack, and it received over 1400 views. The hack involves creating a paste out of baking soda and applying it to the top of the roll. “Now, just stick it in your fridge,” the TikTokker said. “This simple hack is going to neutralize all the smell and moisture that messes up your fridge, keeping your food fresh and tasty for way longer.”

Smartfoxlifehacks has also helped promote the new trend in kitchen cleanliness with his video, where he shares how he keeps toilet paper in his fridge. He recommends that people change their rolls every 3 to 4 weeks. He claims the “trick” comes from the hotel industry because the toilet paper “absorbs odors.”

Another TikTokker, @Drewfrom63rd1, has a unique use for the toilet paper in his fridge. He chills it and then uses it as an ice pack to keep his food cold. “You can use this as an ice pack,” he says, putting a roll out of his fridge. “It does really work. It lasts about 8 hours.”

House Digest explains why toilet paper is so effective at keeping your fridge smelling fresh.

“For obvious reasons, toilet paper is designed to be extremely absorbent,” Brooke Younger writes at House Digest. “However, it doesn’t just absorb liquids on contact; it can also pull them from the surrounding air. If you’ve ever touched your bathroom’s toilet paper roll after a steamy shower, you might notice that it feels a bit damp. Placing a clean toilet paper roll in your fridge will absorb some of the internal humidity and, with it, those stinky particles.”

The site adds that toilet paper can also help keep dark, damp parts of your house, such as a closet or basement, stay fresh, too.

The toilet paper hack is effective, and it’s also a great way to save money. The average roll of TP costs about $1, which is much cheaper than a refrigerator deodorizer that can set you back about $10.

Now, for the sake of all the people who love this hack, let’s hope that word spreads so that no one gets any side-eye for having stacks of TP in their fridge. But we should also hope it doesn’t become so popular that people start hoarding toilet paper again. That wasn’t fun the first time.

Couple buys new house and finds abandoned dog tied to a tree by the old homeowners

Molly, an adorable, affectionate 10-year-old pit bull, found herself tied to a tree after her owners had abandoned her.

According to The Dodo, Molly had “always been a loyal dog, but, unfortunately, her first family couldn’t reciprocate that same love back,” and so when the house was sold, neither Molly nor the family’s cat was chosen to move with them. While the cat was allowed to free roam outside, all Molly could do was sit and wait. Alone.

Luckily, the young couple that bought the house agreed to take the animals in as part of their closing agreement, and as soon as the papers were signed, they rushed over to check in.

In a TikTok video, April Parker, the new homeowner, walks up to Molly, who is visibly crestfallen with teary eyes. But as soon as Parker begins cooing, “Baby girl…you’re gonna get a new home,” the pitty instantly perks up—all smiles and tail wagging.

“We are going to make her life so good,” Parker wrote in the video’s caption. “She will never be left all alone tied to a tree.”

@geaux75 The people that sold our house to us left behind their 10yr old dog they had since it was a puppy. I was so stressed we wouldnt get the house and something bad would happeb to her. We are going to maje her life so good. She will never be left all alone tied to a tree. 😭😢@roodytoots ♬ Running Up That Hill (A Deal With God) [2018 Remaster] – Kate Bush

The video has been seen upwards of 4 million times. Countless people commented on how enraging it was to see a dog treated so carelessly.

“I’ve had my dog since she was 7 weeks old. She just turned 10 a few days ago. I literally cannot imagine doing this,” one person wrote.”

Another added: “The tears in her eyes…she doesn’t understand why they could just leave her, it breaks my heart. People like that shouldn’t be allowed to be pet owners.”

Subsequent videos show Parker freeing Molly from her leash and introducing the sweet pup to her husband, with whom she was instantly smitten. It’s clear that this doggo was both relieved and elated to be taken in by her new family.

Since being rescued, Molly has accompanied her new mom and dad everywhere.

“She’s sticking to our side,” Parker wrote. “She won’t stop following us around. It’s so sweet.”

Parker has created an entire TikTok channel documenting her newfound pet’s journey, aptly named “Molly’s New Life,” showing Molly enjoying warm baths, plenty of treats, cuddles…all the finer things in life.

But what Molly seems to enjoy most of all is car rides:

@geaux75 Taking Molly to get a treat! Stay tuned!! #mollysnewlife #goodgollymissmolly ♬ original sound – Mollysnewlife 🐾🐕💗

And in case you’re wondering, the kitty is doing well, too, though it still prefers to stay outdoors.

Molly also has two indoor cat siblings who instantly welcomed her into the family. The video below shows one of them, Joofus, comforting a trembling Molly with kisses during a thunderstorm.

@geaux75 We had a big storm this morning and Molly was having a hard time. Joofus got on the bed and started comforting her. It was the sweetest thing. They got snuggled up and Molly went to sleep. Animals are amazing. #mollysnewlife #petsarefamily ♬ I Won’t Let Go – Rascal Flatts

It seems that Molly has gotten the safe, loving home she’s deserved all along.

We know that animal abandonment is fairly common. According to The Zebra, almost 4 million dogs are either given up to shelters or abandoned each year. And still, it’s really hard to fathom how humans can treat such innocent creatures with such blatant disregard when they provide so much pure joy.

Thankfully, there are folks out there like the Parkers who know that taking care of animals like Molly is one of life’s most precious offerings.

Stay up-to-date with the rest of Molly’s journey by following her on TikTok.

Career coach’s ‘Dinner Table Test’ is a simple way to determine if you need a new job

When we do the same job every day, sometimes it can be hard to put things into perspective. We can become accustomed to high-stress levels or too easily accepting of a day-to-day grind that isn’t very fulfilling.

Career coach Madeline Mann has shared a simple test on TikTok that helps people understand whether they are in the right job or should start looking for greener pastures. She calls it the “Dinner Table Test.”

Mann is the creator of Self-Made Millennial whose coaching program has helped thousands of people land roles at major companies such as Netflix, Google, Goldman Sachs, Deloitte, NBC Universal, Amazon and more.

She shared the test in a video that has over 9,000 views.

Here’s a test to know if it’s time to change jobs. It’s called the Dinner Table Test, did your job pass?

@selfmademillennial

Here’s a test to know if it’s time to change jobs. It’s called the Dinner Table Test, did your job pass? Make sure to follow for more career tips! #jobsearch #careercoach #careeradvice #business #jobmarket #jobtips #businesstips

“When you sit around the dinner table with your loved ones or hypothetically imagine yourself doing so, and your loved ones ask you how your day was at work, for the majority of those meals, would you be effusive about your day?” Mann asked. “Or, would you typically say something negative?”

Note that she says the “majority” of those meals. Because everyone is entitled to have the occasional bad day at work. However, if every day is a bad day, then you’ve definitely failed the test.

If most of the time you are excited to share the highlights of your day, then you’ve passed the test. That could mean sharing why you enjoyed spending time with your time with coworkers, the joy that comes with working on an engaging product, or feeling satisfied that the work you did was valued or helped others.

But if the first things that crop up are the clients who give you headaches or the boss who keeps piling more work on your desk than you can handle—it’s time to think about getting a new gig. “If the majority of things you say about your job around the dinner table are negative, it’s time to revise your resume and find a new job,” Mann explained.

Mann’s test is sure to resonate with younger workers, MIllennials and Gen Zers, who seem to have a different philosophy towards work than older generations. Younger workers place a high priority on having a healthy life-work balance and want jobs that are more than just a paycheck.

They also can develop an unrealistic idea of what to expect from work after watching other people’s social media feeds where all they share are the positive aspects of their jobs.

Younger generations are also unafraid to look for new opportunities. They know more than anyone that the job market is turbulent and there’s nothing wrong with being on a constant job search.

“These generations are used to economic turmoil and the roller coaster conditions of the labor market,” Andrew Seaman, managing editor for jobs and career development at LinkedIn, told CNBC. “A lot of younger workers understand that their jobs aren’t secure, and they might have to find a new one tomorrow — that kind of attitude can breed confidence in a person, because they’re prepared for the worst outcome.”

Arnold Schwarzenegger Fed A Donkey During His ManningCast Appearance

arnold schwarzenegger donkey manningcast
ESPN

Arnold Schwarzenegger is the latest famous person to spend some time during a Monday Night Football broadcast chilling out with Peyton and Eli Manning. Schwarzenegger joined the two for their ManningCast broadcast of the matchup between the Los Angeles Chargers and the New York Jets, presumably because he is a well-documented person who rooted for the Chargers once.

Anyway, because he joined the two, Schwarzenegger got the chance to discuss stuff, and also things. And at one point, Schwarzenegger was joined by a special guest — no, not a person, it was instead his donkey, Lulu, who you may remember from the early days of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Look at how happy Arnold is to give Lulu a treat! And watch Peyton’s face, because while Eli tries to talk through this like it’s a normal thing — he even makes a joke about how the donkey and Peyton look the same while they’re eating before sending them to break — the future Hall of Fame inductee sat there with a stunned silence and look of shock on his face. I hope Lulu enjoys getting a little something to eat, and then gets to head over to the couch and enjoy a good football game.

Kayleigh McEnany Is No Fan Of The Unflattering Trump Courtroom Sketches: A ‘Travesty’ That ‘Looks Nothing Like’ Him

Kayleigh McEnany
Fox News

On Monday, Donald Trump took the stand in his New York fraud case. It did not go well. (Although he thought it did.) On top of enraging the judge and almost getting thrown out, the former president was also at the mercy of another courtroom fixture: the sketch artist. The drawings from the trial — news cameras were not allowed in the room — were, to put it mildly, unflattering. Among their critics were one of his former employees-turned-enemies.

Per Mediaite, on Monday’s episode of The Five, Kayleigh McEnany, Trump’s fourth and final press secretary, put aside her beef with her former employer to rail against the treatment he’s received.

“Keep doing what he’s doing,” she said after being asked if she had any advice for Trump. “Look, I would advise them to ask for a better sketch artist because that does not look like my former boss there.”

McEnany also railed against New York Attorney General Letitia James for calling Trump a “conman” and “carnival barker,” saying, ““This is a travesty of justice.” She added, “And that sketch is a travesty too. It looks nothing like Trump.”

Here’s the sketch that left McEnany steamed.

Honestly it’s not even the worst of the Trump sketches. Here’s some more.

Trump is surely unhappy with the sketches, just as he was surely unhappy with previous ones, which didn’t make him look so hot either. He’s not the only member of his family peeved at their courtroom sketches: His eldest son, Don Jr., told the sketch artist to make him look “sexy,” and he was nonplussed when he got one that made him look, in his words, like “Kermit the Fricken Frog.”

Soulja Boy Apologized To J. Cole After He Went On A Multiple-Day Rant About The Rapper Online: ‘I Dealt With A Lot Of Hate’

In the immortal words of Erykah Badu, artists are sensitive about their sh*t. “Malibu” rapper Soulja Boy’s latest social media rant epitomized that. Last week, on Lil Yachty’s podcast A Safe Place, J. Cole shared his initial response to Soulja’s breakthrough 2007 single, “Crank That,” with which he wasn’t thrilled. Soulja was not pleased with the remarks.

Immediately after hearing Cole’s comments, Soulja took to X (formerly Twitter) to blast the rapper. The rant began on November 4 and ended on Monday. But later on that day, Soulja apologized to Cole for his online tangent.

“My bad dawg. J. Cole, sorry for the confusion,” he said. “Keep doing your sh*t. We [are] from two different worlds. I stand on what I stand on. It’s hard coming from where I did, man. I dealt with a lot of hate my whole career, so it was just messed to think it would come from you 💯.”

Just hours prior, Soulja was still on the defense, which confused his followers. Ultimately, another musician stepped in to diffuse the tension, according to Soulja. “Nicki [Minaj] just told me I took what he said wrong,” Soulja said. “And that he was showing love. So I’m gonna let it go. My bad, y’all, I really thought dude was hating on me 🤷🏾‍♂️.”

Read J. Cole’s initial comments below.

My real friends were playing Three 6 Mafia, Lil Jon when [Soulja Boy] came out… Whatever the f*ck was poppin’, whatever new rendition of Black culture was penetrating, like, music coming up, in the South, they were on. A lot of that shit for me artistically, and what I stood for morally as an artist, I was conflicted. I turned from a hater to an appreciator. Like, what can I find that’s amazing about this? What can I find that’s good about this? What can I find that’s going on? That sh*t changed me as an artist. I became a better artist.

Issa Rae Wants To Unite Megan Thee Stallion, Cardi B & Nicki Minaj’s Fan Bases With A Clever On-Screen Cameo

Could the Hotties, Bardi Gang, and the Barbz be putting an end to their years-long online feud? Barbie supporting player Issa Rae has her fingers crossed that they are. Rae’s latest venture, Rap Sh!t, allows her to, among other things, express her love for music. Although Season 2 of the series has already wrapped, Rae has ideas for future episodes.

On Monday, November 6, during an interview with ET‘s Denny Directo, Rae revealed that there are a few guest cameos on the season three wishlist. “There’s a list. I mean, we want Meg[an The Stallion],” she said. “We want Cardi [B]. Nicki [Minaj] would be a nice little tie-around.”

As the idea began to marinate, she added, “If we could unite them… Maybe in season three, we can unite the fan bases.”

In the past, Rae has thrown a tremendous amount of support behind Megan and Nicki. The idea of rap’s leading ladies squashing their rumored feud with an epic appearance on the scripted show would certainly shake up the culture in the best way.

Season 2 of Rap Sh!t will premiere on Max on November 9. Find more information here.

Ridley Scott Has A Short, Pissy Response To Those Pointing Out Historical Inaccuracies In ‘Napoleon’

Joaquin Phoenix Napoleon
Via Apple TV+

Ridley Scott says what he pleases. Where Martin Scorsese is relatively diplomatic in his criticism of comic book movies, Scott is not, saying their scripts aren’t “any f*cking good.” After a journalist gave him a backhanded compliment about his films, he told them to “go f*ck yourself” — then continued the interview. There’s a new New Yorker profile of the filmmaker, which includes him again showing how few effs he gives.

The piece concerns his latest film, Napoleon, an epic that reunites him with his Gladiator supporting player Joaquin Phoenix. Scott didn’t immerse himself in the infamous French emperor, as other filmmakers would. He isn’t, the piece says, “big on biographies,” and he only read two on Bonaparte before giving up.

As such, there might be a few historical inaccuracies here and there. Sure enough, after the trailer came out, TV historian Dan Snow dropped a TikTok breakdown of all it got wrong, including the myth that Napoleon shot at the pyramids and that Marie-Antoinette had cropped her hair before being executed.

But Scott’s reaction to Snow was very brief: “Get a life.”

Elsewhere in the profile, Scott claims that he got Russell Crowe “back on his feet” after his notorious phone-throwing incident by offering him the 2006 dramedy A Good Year. A representative for Crowe, alas, disputed that account.

Scott also teased that in the Gladiator sequel (in which Crowe emphatically does not appear), Paul Mescal’s hero fights baboons, which came about after Crowe saw a video of the creatures attacking tourists. “Baboons are carnivores,” Scott said. “Can you hang from that roof for two hours by your left leg? No! A baboon can.” So get ready for some baboon fighting action.

Napoleon hits theaters on November 22, though you may one day be able to see an even longer cut Crowe claims is “fantastic.”

Purdue’s Zach Edey Started The Season By Winning A Jump Ball Against A 5’8 Guard

zach edey
SamfordMBB

Purdue center Zach Edey is probably the best-known player in college basketball. The 7’4 center from Canada is the reigning national player of the year after a season in which he averaged 22.3 points, 12.9 rebounds, and 2.1 blocks per game for a No. 1 seed and, independent of his immense skill level, the star for the Purdue Boilermakers stands out above many for his sheer size. That made Monday’s scene even more interesting, when Purdue opened its season against Samford.

As you would expect, Edey took the jump ball for the Boilermakers — he tends to do this, as he is, you know, seven feet and four inches tall. But he faced a much different opponent in the middle of the floor when Samford deployed 5’8 guard Dallas Graziani against him.

The visuals were quite striking.

Edey did not exactly explode off the floor to win the tip, but he did manage to guide the ball to a teammate and avoid what would have been a funny situation had things broken another way. Of course, it seems that Samford would have to acknowledge this wasn’t the best way to win possession at the start of the game, but the program did accomplish the goal of garnering some attention at the start of a game in which Purdue was a 20.5-point favorite.
