Lucky Daye Is A Sexy Succubus’ Familiar In His Steamy ‘That’s You’ Video

Halloween may be over, but Lucky Daye‘s video for “That’s You” keeps the spooky season going just one more day. In it, Lucky plays the hapless familiar to a sexy succubus in his native Louisiana, going out into the New Orleans streets to seduce women to bring back for her to feed from. Each would-be romantic encounter ends with Lucky’s mistress taking his latest love interest back to her bedroom, then taking their souls. Throughout, Lucky’s face betrays his ambivalent feelings about this arrangement, and the video ends with him covering up the evidence with a bayou bonfire.

Ahead of the new song’s release, Lucky teased the involvement of Bruno Mars. He had been flying under the radar for much of 2023 as he let the last of his Silk Sonic/Vegas residency hangover subside before contributing songwriting and production to “That’s You” alongside D’Mile. With their involvement, “That’s You” sounds a little like a Silk Sonic remnant, carrying over a little of the ’70s-throwback, big-band R&B feel from that project into Lucky’s contemporary approach. The combination works well, providing a sultry but heartbroken vibe reflected in the steamy visuals. As far as a follow-up to his 2022 debut album Candydrip goes, “That’s You” is a compelling jumping-off point.

Christina Aguilera Honored Cher And Showed Off Her Body In An Iconic Bodysuit For Halloween

This Halloween, Christina Aguilera honored one of her mentors in a very fashionable way. In a video shared to Instagram, Aguilera re-enacted a scene from the movie Burlesque, in which she played the character Ali, who moves to Los Angeles with dreams to become a singer and a performer.

When she arrives to LA, she takes a job at a bar called Burlesque, where she is mentored by a woman named Tess (Cher).

But for Halloween, Aguilera opted to dress as Cher’s character, instead of Ali.

In the clip shared to Instagram, Aguilera is seen rocking a tight bodysuit and a large wig, channeling Cher. The resemblance is uncanny, as Aguilera smoothly recreates Cher’s movements and facial expressions.

Back in 2020, Aguilera spoke to Entertainment Weekly about working with Cher, in celebration of the movie’s 10th anniversary.

She’s truly an incredible woman and a force of nature,” Aguilera said of Cher. “I respect her talent, her no-bullsh*t, genuine way of saying it as she sees it, making up her own rules, and helping to pave the way for so many other women in generations to come.”

Here Are The Performers For Macy’s 2023 Thanksgiving Day Parade

The 2023 Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade is just around the corner, now that today is the first day of November. With the event being held each year in New York, viewers and attendees who are looking forward might be wondering who will be performing this year — when it will be hosted on November 23.

Jon Batiste is set to open the show. Earlier this year, the Grammy winner released his new album, World Music Radio.

Cher is also one of the performers at the parade this year. She recently announced that she’s made her first Christmas album, and she’s expected to play a selection from that.

Throughout the parade’s runtime, other acts on the lineup include “Bell Biv DeVoe, Brandy, Chicago, En Vogue, ENHYPEN, David Foster and Katharine McPhee, Drew Holcomb And The Neighbors, Jessie James Decker, Ashley Park with the cast and Muppets of Sesame Street, Pentatonix, Paul Russell, Amanda Shaw and Alex Smith and Manuel Turizo,” according to Today.com.

There will also be 16 balloons themed to characters, including new ones like “Beagle Scout Snoopy” and Monkey D. Luffy from One Piece, 26 floats, 12 marching bands, Santa Claus, and thousands of volunteers working to make the Thanksgiving festivity run smoothly.

Marvel’s ‘Blade’ Reboot Has Reportedly Been Scaled Back To A (Relatively) Tiny Budget After Nearly Losing The New Leading Man Over A Fumbled Script

Marvel Studios and Disney have undeniably hit a rough patch with their latest studio efforts. Everything in the MCU has arguably become a little too interwoven, and people might feel like there’s too much “homework” (so many Disney+ shows) to catch up on before seeing the latest movie about silly old Ant-Man. Hence the theatrical lull, and that could perhaps be why The Marvels is hinting at pulling in the X-Men during the film’s promotional cycle.

A new Variety piece details that speculation and more, along with a report that MCU chief Kevin Feige might be considering getting the old gang back together because there’s a distinct lack of Robert Downey Jr., Scarlett Johansson, and Chris Evans up in the joint. Additionally, there is a not-so-promising section about the upcoming Blade reboot, which cast Mahershala Ali in the role originated by Wesley Snipes and has already caused nervousness among fans.

Why? Deadpool 3 will be firmly in the R-rated camp, but there’s been plenty of past concern that Blade could get the PG-13 treatment (Twilight Blade, perhaps?). However, that appears to be the least of the reboot’s (alleged) worries at the moment because Variety reports “speculation” that the budget has been scaled back to “less than $100 million.” That is far less than the lowest-cost Infinity Saga movie (Ant-Man was the cheapest whereas Avengers: Endgame cost $365 million to make) and much less, even, than The Marvels’ reported budget ahead of its November 10 release date.

Variety also reports that Feige might have switched plans after Blade became a supporting player in his own movie:

Case in point: the “Blade” reboot. With Mahershala Ali signed on for the eponymous role of a vampire, things looked promising for a 2023 release date. But the project has gone through at least five writers, two directors and one shutdown six weeks before production. One person familiar with the script permutations says the story at one point morphed into a narrative led by women and filled with life lessons. Blade was relegated to the fourth lead, a bizarre idea considering that the studio had two-time Oscar winner Ali on board.

This follows chatter of Ali considering leaving the film before Feige hired Logan screenwriter Michael Green for a compete redo of the reboot. Currently, the film is expected sometime in 2025, so we could hear more about an apparent early Blade fumble. However, Wesley Snipes has gone on record to reveal that he is ready and waiting for Ali’s performance in the iconic half-vamp role. That’s gotta be some good news there.

Kate Upton Made Her TikTok Debut With A Dance That Helped Catapult Her To Fame

The first time I can remember hearing about Kate Upton is when the model helped teach the world how to Dougie at a basketball game. I will not explain what a “Dougie” is to our younger readers. I feel old enough as is, thank you very much. Since then, Upton has been on the cover of Sports Illustrated‘s swimsuit issues three times, starred in multiple films (including The Three Stooges), and married future-Hall of Fame pitcher Justin Verlander.

This week, Upton joined TikTok where she recreated her viral dance to the Cali Swag District hit in her debut video.

“Teach me how to TikTok…?” Upton caption the 14-second video, in which she can be seen doing a web search for “Teach Me How to Dougie” before breaking out the signature moves, outfitted in a sleeveless orange crop top paired with trendy, olive-colored cargo pants.

Upton told Jimmy Kimmel in 2012 that she didn’t mind the attention from the “Dougie” dance because she likes “to show off my skills,” but she was less enthusiastic about photographer/alleged creep Terry Richardson releasing a video of her doing the Cat Daddy in a bikini. “I was like, ‘That was disrespectful, you could have told me!’” she revealed to British Vogue in 2014.

Matthew Perry Being Gone Oddly Feels Like Losing A Real-Life Friend

My initial plan for this piece was to write about Matthew Perry‘s work in The Whole Nine Yards, a really funny movie that, strangely, isn’t being talked about much in the wake of Perry’s death this past Saturday, when almost everything else he did is being, rightfully, discussed at length.

Anyway, I got about two paragraphs in, summing up the plot about Perry playing a dentist living in Montreal named Nicholas Oseransky (who everyone calls “Oz”; it’s a great trait that this movie has a character we just met and he has a nickname) whose wife, played by Rosanna Arquette, hires a hitman to kill Oz. It’s actually a lot more complicated than that, because Bruce Willis plays the hitman, Jimmy the Tulip, but he doesn’t take the job because he’s retired, but tips Oz off about his wife’s plan. But then Jimmy the Tulip does want to kill Oz because Oz falls in love with Jimmy’s ex-wife, who Jimmy does wants to kill. Whatever, it all somehow works. (The sequel? Not as much.) Back to my point, it was around this time in the idea for my original piece, reminiscing about Perry’s performance of Oz, and how it, yes, had some shades of Chandler, but enough differences to make it unique and show off Perry’s talents away from Friends when I stopped and said out loud about Perry’s death, “Fuck. This just sucks.”

It’s a sticky feeling, mourning a person we don’t actually know and have never met. (Even in the context of this job, where I do meet a lot of actors and filmmakers on a professional basis, I had never met or interviewed Perry.) On social media, when a famous person dies, there’s often an outpouring of grief that often turns into a, “No, I loved this person more than you,” competition. But Perry’s death felt different. The initial reaction, and now, even a few days later, still kind of feels like a shock. I think that’s why I had the reaction I did while trying to write about The Whole Nine Yards, just sitting here writing, thinking fondly about Matthew Perry, then getting hit with the stark realization, “Oh, geez, he’s really gone.”

Matthew Perry has been a constant part of our lives for almost 30 years now. Friends debuted in September of 1994 and seemingly never went away. It’s hard to explain, now, what a cultural force it was. I was in college when Friends debuted and Thursday night was the big bar night at Mizzou (I assume this translates to all colleges, especially Big XII — at the time — state schools) and people would not leave their televisions until the entire NBC Thursday lineup was completed, after ER. And the bars closed at 1 am, which didn’t leave a lot of time, so that’s how important these shows were. It’s always weird watching a new show, especially a sitcom, as we are thrust into these people’s lives that we are supposed to care about and like. I will never forget the moment the show hooked me when Chandler asked Ross, “Could you want her more?” Ross answers, “Who?” To which Chandler sarcastically says, “Dee, the sarcastic sister from What’s Happening.” That’s a clever line, just esoteric enough that a lot of people will get the reference at the time (probably not now, but Dee was sooooo sarcastic), but not everyone will. I was hooked and Perry did the hooking.

See, here we go again, this really sucks. I still can’t believe this is true. And I think it’s okay to feel this way.

I remember at the time Perry looked familiar, but I couldn’t place it. I kept thinking maybe he played one of Mallory’s boyfriends on Family Ties, but the math there didn’t quite work. Later, once I got internet access, it was one of the first things I looked up and it turns out Perry played Carol Seaver’s boyfriend on Growing Pains, who was kind of unceremoniously written out after dying after a car accident while driving drunk. But I remember Perry had a lot of heart in that role, which he took with him to Friends, only he’s also hilarious in that role.

The day Perry died I was on vacation with my girlfriend in Jamaica for her birthday. We got the news like everyone else and tried to continue on that night but it wasn’t the same. We felt like someone we knew had died, even though neither of us knew him. And I kind of felt silly about that until I finally realized I have probably seen Perry, honestly, maybe a third of all the days over the last 29 years? That actually might be a low estimate. Whether it be a quote, a gif, a cultural reference, or the fact Friends still runs on a never-ending loop in syndication to this day. Yeah, he’s was a big part of all our lives – and, frankly, he still will be going forward – and that’s why this feels a lot different.

I remember on Saturday thinking what it would be like watching Friends now. Would it be too sad? I got my answer earlier than expected because when we got back to our hotel room, I turned on the television and, there, even in Jamaica, was Friends. I watched. It was, “The One With Joey’s Award,” which is a Joey-heavy episode. I turned it on right when Joey was accepting the Soapy award “on behalf” then keeps it for himself. But, eventually, there was Perry as Chandler and for a very quick moment I forgot because it feels so natural to watch Perry as Chandler. Then I remembered the news from that night that still didn’t seem real and I remember thinking, “Fuck. This really sucks.”

Dua Lipa’s New Era Will Begin With The Single ‘Houdini,’ Which Finally Has A Release Date

It looks like DL3 may soon be upon us. Over the past few weeks, Dua Lipa has slowly been teasing her new era, and today, it appears we have a release date for some new music.

Earlier this week, Lipa shared a video clip to Instagram, which featured a snippet of a new song. At the end of the clip is a numerical code, which fans discovered spelled “Houdini.”

Lipa has since deleted the clip, as well as every other teaser she’s dropped — likely because she’s making the teasers disappear like the magician Harry Houdini. But some fans caught wind of a Spotify pop-up that revealed a release date for the song, which is confirmed to be titled “Houdini.” The new song is set to arrive next Friday, November 9, per Spotify.

As for the rest of the album, Lipa has remained tight-lipped about the project, however, in a New York Times profile on the artist, it was reported that the album is due in 2024, and is inspired by “1970s-era psychedelia.” Lipa was also reported to have worked with Tame Impala’s Kevin Parker on the album.

Dua Lipa is a Warner Music artist. Uproxx is an independent subsidiary of Warner Music Group.

Dave Grohl Channeled His Inner ‘Satanist’ As He Joined Boygenius At Their Halloween Concert Last Night

Last night for Halloween, Boygenius played a special show at the Hollywood Bowl in California — which fans lovingly dubbed as “Boogenius” for the night. Given that their concert fell on a holiday, they had some tricks and treats in store for those who attended.

During the band’s performance of “Satanist,” off their recent album, The Record, Dave Grohl joined them on stage to play drums for the song. While younger fans might only recognize him as the lead singer in Foo Fighters, he also used to drum in Nirvana before that.

He also stayed true to the spooky theme, as he wore skeleton-themed face paint and an all-black outfit. The other members of Boygenius (Lucy Dacus, Phoebe Bridgers, Julien Baker) were in religious costumes, playing off their trio concept as the father, son, and holy spirit.

It’s not the first time either that Grohl has been connected to the Boygenius members. Last December, both Grohl and Bridgers appeared at separate times to support Billie Eilish’s show at the Kia Forum.

Back in 2021, Grohl also backed Bridgers after she faced pushback for smashing a guitar during her Saturday Night Live performance.

Check out a video of Grohl drumming during Boygenius’ “Satanist” below.

Kristaps Porzingis Looks Like A Perfect Fit In Boston

Trading Marcus Smart for Kristaps Porzingis was a sign that the Boston Celtics wanted to reimagine their offensive structure under second-year head coach Joe Mazzulla. While Smart was a beloved figure in Boston and a Defensive Player of the Year award winner, Boston’s offense didn’t always have the high-level playmaking to consistently navigate crunch time situations in the playoffs.

After a disappointing Conference Finals showing against Miami, Boston chose to double down on the five out offense that Mazzulla shifted to in playoffs with the idea that Porzingis would amplify their spacing without sacrificing anything on the defensive end. Thus far, that idea has held true. Boston sits at 3-0, while Porzingis looks like the unicorn he was promised to be in New York.

Boston provides Porzingis the opportunity to reemerge on the national stage after the one-time All-Star spent the last few seasons in relative obscurity. Porzingis’ partnership with Luka Doncic in Dallas never quite flourished, whether that was due to injuries or friction over his role within the Doncic-centric offense. It’s easy to forget, but when Porzingis was traded to Dallas in 2019, he was coming off his first All-Star nod while Doncic was in the middle of a promising rookie campaign. At that point, it was plausible to think of Porzingis and Doncic as co-stars. While Doncic blossomed into the no-doubt No. 1 option in Dallas, Porzingis held onto the idea of them being on equal footing.

In Dallas, Porzingis was a productive and impactful player when healthy, but he was an inefficient post player. The discourse around Porzingis’ post play lead to then-Mavs coach Rick Carlisle going on a rant on how the post up is an inefficient play. That point held true until Porzingis was traded to the Wizards at the 2022 trade deadline. Last season, Porzingis played in 65 games — his most since 2017 — while quietly having the best season of his career. The 7’3 big man put up 23.2 points and 8.4 rebounds per game on admirable efficiency, and most importantly, he became a very efficient post player.

You would be excused if you weren’t locked in on Wizards basketball last season, but Brad Stevens clearly took note of Porzingis improving enough to break up a Celtics core that had made multiple deep playoff runs. The Porzingis acquisition has allowed Boston to lighten Al Horford’s workload while also deploying a starting lineup that has dynamic shotmaking and plus defense at every position. With all the caveats about the sample size being small, the new Celtics starting lineup of Derrick White, Jrue Holiday, Jayson Tatum, Jaylen Brown, and Porzingis has a plus-31.2 net rating in 54 minutes this season.

Replacing Horford and Robert Williams minutes with Porzingis has supercharged the Celtic offense. For all the fuss about Porzingis post touches, his spot-up shooting is the skill that truly separates him. Porzingis has a quick, high release and can hit jumpers well beyond the three-point line. Most big men don’t want to guard Porzingis when he sets up shop that far out, but his release forces defenses to overreact. The increased spacing has made life easier on both Tatum and Brown. According to Cleaning The Glass, Boston’s effective field goal percentage is eight percent higher when Porzingis is on the court than when he’s on the bench.

Porzingis has managed to be both a productive player and a complementary piece to Brown and Tatum. He’s averaging 20.7 points per game with 85.7 percent of his made field goals being assisted. The egalitarian Celtic offense allows Porzingis to really shine as both a spot up player and a cutter. Much was made of how he set the franchise record for points in a debut; less was made of how that came without a single isolation or post up bucket. It’s a stark contrast from Smart, whose fearlessness meant he was prone to taking over possessions.

On defense, Porzingis has thrived playing next to so many high-level perimeter defenders. This is the first time in Porzingis’ career that’s he’s played behind a perimeter defense this ferocious, and it’s freed him to leverage his shot-blocking skills, particularly when Horford is on the court to take on the bruising post matchups. Thus far, opponents are shooting just 42.6 percent against Porzingis within six feet of the rim.

There will always be trepidation about Porzingis’ health, however as his Celtic career begins, he’s emphatically answering any and all questions about his on-court play. Boston gambled by trading their longest-tenured and most beloved player for Porzingis, and the first week of the season has shown the upside that move provides.

Doja Cat And Doechii Teased An Upcoming Collaboration At ‘The Scarlet Tour’

Doja Cat and Doechii have embarked on The Scarlet Tour promoting Doja’s new album Scarlet, kicking off the tour in San Francisco on Halloween and continuing to Los Angeles tomorrow night. In addition to showing fans the setlists they’ll be playing for the next month and a half, they also previewed an upcoming collaboration on night one. The massive screens onstage played what appears to be a snippet of a music video for the song, with Doechii and Doja cruising in a convertible in a clear visual homage to Thelma & Louise.

It’s a fitting reference for the duo, who are both individually known for breaking rules and upsetting the status quo like the 1991 classic’s titular heroines, who break away from their dull, depressing daily existences for a road trip that gets them not only out of their ruts but into a whole heap of life-changing trouble.

According to some social media users, Doechii previously teased the track during her Coachella debut earlier this year, although it wasn’t the only song she previewed for fans during her set. It’s apparently called “Shots” and while they did not yet allude to a release date, one imagines that it can’t be all that far off.

You can follow Uproxx’s coverage of The Scarlet Tour, including setlists and helpful information, here.
