Playboi Carti has had fans in a chokehold, wondering when he’ll finally drop his followup to his first-career No. 1 album, Whole Lotta Red, which arrived on Christmas Day in 2020. Last Christmas, Carti returned to social media and appeared to tease that new music was imminent. It wasn’t until last week that he released a new song, “2024,” but fans didn’t have to wait another year for the next development.
On Tuesday, December 19, Carti posted a video to Instagram Story. It features someone screaming (to put it lightly), “CARTI DROPPIN’ AGAIN [EXPLETIVE] TONIGHT!” Written atop the video is, “9:00 PARENTAL ADVISORY EXPLICIT CONTENT TUESDAY.”
Shortly thereafter, Carti reshared an Instagram Reel posted by Opium, captioned, “H00DBYAIR #IAMMUSIC.”
Toward the end of the song, Carti raps, “I was 24 when I had lil Onyx / 27 when I had Eve.” As pointed out by XXL, people are assuming that the bar serves as an announcement that Carti has welcomed a baby named Eve. Carti welcomed Onyx, his son with ex Iggy Azalea, in 2020. It must be noted that Carti was arrested for allegedly choking his pregnant girlfriend last December, as reported by TMZ.
“According to the arrest affidavit, obtained by TMZ, the woman told police the rapper grabbed her by her throat and pushed her, holding her neck until she could barely breathe,” the outlet reported in February. “She even told cops she thought she was going to die. Police say the woman told officers she’s been in a relationship with Playboi Carti for two years, has lived with him since July 2022 and was 14 weeks pregnant at the time of the alleged incident on December 20.”
The “#IAMMUSIC” hashtag all but confirms what was already widely accepted as fact. Carti is reportedly gearing up to release an album “early next year (currently with a tentative release date in January),” per Hypebeast. Earlier this month, Carti posted a word graphic to a since-expired Instagram story reading, “I AM MUSIC,” which currently serves as Carti’s Instagram profile picture, so it’s believed that I Am Music is the album’s title.

On Sunday John Oliver devoted pretty much the entirety of Last Week Tonight to one subject: Elon Musk. For nearly 40 minutes the HBO host laid into the richest person on the planet (who briefly wasn’t), whom he summed up as a “middle-aged billionaire CEO with self-serving libertarian views, increasingly racist politics and a messiah complex.” Oliver did have some nice things to say about him, too, but he seemed sure Musk would balk anyway. And balk he has.
Oliver was great several years ago, but stopped being funny when he sold his soul to wokeness where humor is basically illegal.
As caught by Page Six, the Space X/Tesla/Twitter guy responded to an apparent fan, who’d responded sarcastically to a post about Oliver’s segment. Musk responded predictably.

As it happens, Oliver didn’t spend too much time on Musk’s war on “wokeness,” which was part of the rightward turn he took amidst the early days of the pandemic.
Still, what on earth is Musk even talking about? Oliver’s show has barely changed at all in the last several years, each episode striking the usual 70-30 balance of genuine outrage to goofy jokes. Among the latter in Oliver’s Musk segment was saying Musk can “pull off pretty much any bad-guy-in-a-movie look,” comparing him to folks like Lex Luthor, a Bond villain, and Billy Zane in Titanic (albeit a “less f*ckable reimaging” thereof). In fact, that part was one of Oliver’s funnier digs, up there with describing one of his looks as a “red-pilled Chip from Rescue Rangers.”
On Tuesday evening, December 19, Drake confirmed via his Instagram Story that he will drop a video for “You Broke My Heart” tomorrow, December 20. The announcement is accompanied by a photo of a “BRKNHRT” license plate on the street.

Sure, parents sometimes make some…interesting choices when it comes to naming their child. But the key word there is choice. It probably should go without saying that it’s not the best move to insert an opinion on something rather personal and vulnerable, especially when that opinion is not requested.
But nonetheless, people do cross this boundary, expressing their disapproval and giving new moms and dads yet another reason to second guess themselves.
As one frustrated mom shared on Reddit, her own in-laws gave what she described as the “most unhinged” reaction to her newborn’s name, leaving her and her husband completely “crushed.”
At first, everything went smoothly.
“I just had a baby this week,” the mom wrote in her post. “We were still in the hospital when we announced her name and got a slew of the usual responses that normal, sane people say when hearing about the name of a baby (‘what a lovely name!’). Because saying anything different is insane, right?”
But then when her husband texted his side of the family to share the newborn daughter’s name, all hell broke loose.
Mind you, these parents didn’t name their child Watermelon Gumdrop or Fern Gully or something else truly out there. The name they chose, which caused them a lot of unnecessary grief, was Rosa.
Not only does Rosa, the Spanish word for “rose,” sound lovely, it carries all poetic meaning symbolized by the flower: hope, love and courage. What’s not to like?
But instead of celebrating their name choice, the mother-in-law apparently responded with ““no, I don’t really like that name. I much prefer Violet.”
“We were stunned,” the woman continued. “I simply cannot imagine being a family member who’s being INFORMED of a newborn’s name, and thinking you should have input…We LOVE our daughter’s name, and did not want to have our first moments with our daughter marred by this comment.”
But wait, it gets worse. The family then called the hospital several times after their texts were ignored. Then the following day, the husband’s sister also sent a barrage of texts with “alternative she prefers”.
Then, when told that the entire family on the mom’s side supported the name, the mother-in-law laughed and said “they must not have good taste- nobody here likes it. Nobody.”
And here is what really shows the effect this appalling behavior really had: “We are sleep deprived. Coming down from an emotional high, during which our daughter was in NICU and I almost needed a blood transfusion because of how much blood I lost. My husband, so stoic and assured, is f**king crushed. I’m FUMING. I will NEVER forget how they made my husband feel during one of the most vulnerable and special times in his life,” the mom wrote.
People who read this woman’s story were “livid” on her behalf, and rallied to give her some support long overdue.
“What on earth is wrong with Rosa???? It’s a beautiful name!! Tell your mother-in-law she is ridiculous and she can shut up immediately, if not sooner,” one person commented.
Another pointed to how truly ridiculous this situation was, writing, ““The name is ROSA? I thought from reading this that it was at least going to be a controversial name. Rosa is beautiful. Even if it’s not your cup of tea, it’s hard to find anything wrong with it. OP should take this as the sign it is and reevaluate their individual relationships with that side of the family.”
Several even suggested going into little-to-no-contact mode with that side of the family, since odds are they wouldn’t prove any more helpful in the stressful postpartum days to come.
“Tell her she doesn’t need to meet baby if she is so insistent on the name being changed,” one person commented.
Sadly, sometimes boundaries must be pushed a little further with those who will not respect more lenient ones. Especially when it comes to family members. And especially when it comes to parents trying to raise their kids in the most healthy environment possible. Hopefully these parents were able to move forward and enjoy welcoming their little Rosa into the world.

Per People, one Andie Coston went viral after posting updates on TikTok about her chaotic planned family trip to one of Disney’s parks. For starters, it was supposed to happen in 2020. For obvious reasons that was delayed, though it was supposed to finally happen this year. Alas.
“We finally planned it for this Christmas. All 16 of my family members were going. To save some money, my parents bought 10k of Disney gift cards to purchase our tickets and restaurant reservations,” Coston explained in her TikTok posts.
“I went home this weekend, and they were having problems loading the gift cards correctly and purchasing the tickets,” Coston said. She then showed what her parents really bought: $10,000 in gift cards for Disney+.
Coston said her parents, who don’t use streaming services, didn’t know the difference. It was, she said, an “honest mistake.” She asked anyone paying attention for help in “getting the money in the right form.”
“We leave in 6 days and the parks are selling out of tickets because it’s Christmas,” Coston said. “My mom is distraught, Dad frustrated, and the kids worried we won’t get into Disney.”
But there’s a happy ending worthy of a Disney movie: Coston’s post went so viral that the company noticed and were able to “turn the $10,000 of Disney streaming gift cards into $10,000 of Disney Parks gift cards.”
Coston said apparently her parents aren’t the only one who made that mix-up.
“I received many messages and comments from people telling me that they or someone they know have had similar experiences,” she said. “I hope that this story makes more people aware of the card difference so no one else experiences this.”

January 2022: On January 15, 2022, Dion confirmed on Instagram that she “must cancel the remaining shows of the North American leg of her Courage World Tour” and cited that she had been receiving treatment for “severe and persistent muscle spasms.” In her Instagram post’s accompanying caption, Dion wrote, “I was really hoping that I’d be good to go by now, but I suppose I just have to be more patient and follow the regimen that my doctors are prescribing.”
Sharing Her Diagnosis
December 2022: It wasn’t until the end of last year that Dion publicly shared the specifics of her medical condition. On December 8, the five-time Grammy winner posted an emotional Instagram video in which she said she had recently “been diagnosed with a very rare neurological disorder called stiff-person syndrome, which affects something like one in a million people.”
Dion also confirmed that her aforementioned muscle spasms came as a result of SPS.
“Unfortunately, these spasms affect every aspect of my daily life — sometimes causing difficulties when I walk and not allowing me to use my vocal cords to sing the way I’m used to,” she added. “It hurts me to tell you today this means I won’t be ready to restart my tour in Europe in February.”
Chopra Jonas and co-star Sam Heughan told Entertainment Weeklythat they never filmed in-person with Dion, as the movie was produced during the COVID-19 pandemic.

May 2023: On May 26, Dion again took to Instagram to announce, “with tremendous disappointment,” that she needed to cancel “all remaining dates currently on sale for 2023 and 2024” of her Courage World Tour.

While it is lovely to have friends and family members give your children toys for holidays and birthdays, they can pile up and take over entire rooms of the house. Plus, many parents are mindful of their kids having too many playthings because they don’t want them to be spoiled.
Elizabeth, an actress and popular TikTokker, accidentally came across a Christmas regifting hack that prevents toy pile-up and she’s not sure whether it makes her the hero or the villain in her story.
“I’m doing something super controversial for my kids’ birthday and Christmas presents this year,” she said in a post with over 1.5 million views. “Half of me is like, ‘You’re a terrible person, you’re crossing the line,’ and the other half is like, ‘You are a literal genius.'”
For her daughter’s recent birthday, she received “a lot” of gifts from the 10 kids at her party, parents, their friends and relatives. The gifts were mixed in with items they had bought for the daughter that they found on sale to give her later, whether for her birthday or Christmas. It was an easy way for the family to save money and make her daughter’s big days less stressful for everyone involved.
Now, with the gifts all mixed in the same bin, Elizabeth and her husband have no idea what they bought their daughter and which toys she received on her birthday. “I don’t remember,” Elizabeth admits.
“I’m gonna wrap up this gift and put ‘from mom and dad,’ and it might not be from us,” she said while holding up a puzzle. “What do you think? Does this make me a terrible person, or is this such a genius gifting hack for kids who just get way too much?”
She then positioned her decision as a way to avoid giving her kids too many gifts.
“My kids are spoiled; they get everything; they have way too many gifts,” Elizabeth said. “I’m trying to do less this year while still making it a magical Christmas. It’s a very fine line!”

David Lynch may be the creator of some of cinema’s most disturbing and haunting imagery (and sounds), but he’s also a guy from the Midwest. He loves Filet-o-Fish and Bob’s Big Boy and documenting each day’s weather. Sure enough, when Steven Spielberg tapped him to play legendary filmmaker John Ford in last year’s The Fabelmans, he had one main request.
“Well, Cheetos, number one, I love them,” Lynch told Empire magazine (as caught by Deadline). “And any chance I can, I get them. But I know that they’re not exactly health food. So when I do leave the house and I get a chance to… But I don’t get them that often, honestly.”
Lynch added, “If I do get them, I want a big bag. Because once you start… you need to have a lot before you could slow down and actually stop. Otherwise, with a small bag, then you’d be prowling for days to find more […] It’s incredible flavour.”
Lynch appears in the finale of the movie, recreating a story Spielberg has long told about meeting the director of Stagecoach, The Searchers, My Darling Clementine, How Green Was My Valley, and many, many more. In the scene, Spielberg’s young surrogate (Gabriel LaBelle) lucks into meeting Ford in his office. Ford offers him a piece of advice about directing then tells him to skedaddle, only he doesn’t use that word. Lynch’s performance was singled out for praise, but it almost didn’t happen.
“At first I didn’t want to do it,” Lynch revealed. “And the reason is, when it comes to acting, I’ve purposely tried to stay away from it, giving the likes of Harrison Ford and George Clooney a chance at their careers.”
Luckily he “really liked the scene,” in which Ford teaches the upstart (who would eventually cut his teeth on television, including helming the first official episode of Columbo) a valuable lesson about where to put the horizon line in any given shot. Spoiler: Put it anywhere but in the middle, because, Ford argued, it’s “boring as sh*t.”
“John Ford probably had a bunch of things he could call on to give a short education to that young lad. But he picked the horizon bit,” Lynch added. “But it’s true. A horizon in the middle is boring as sh*t.”
The Fabelmans currently streams on Showtime, or on one of those streamers that has Showtime as part of a bundle.
The New Orleans Pelicans were back on TNT’s airwaves on Tuesday night for the first time since they got smoked by the Lakers in the In-Season Tournament semifinals. That loss prompted Shaq and Charles Barkley to call out Zion Williamson (again) for continuing to look out of shape, not running hard, rebounding well enough, and generally underperforming to his immense talents.
Williamson responded to those comments by saying he can’t control what people on the outside say, but if it’s coming from a place where they want what’s best for him, then he says “thank you.” On Tuesday night’s pregame show, Barkley and Shaq made clear that was the case, with Shaq noting “we only criticize guys we believe in” and Chuck saying he wants everyone to be great.
“We only criticize people that we like. We only criticize people that we believe in.”
However, the two Hall of Famers didn’t think Williamson’s response was particularly encouraging. Shaq said he wants to see a fire lit under Zion and was hoping to get a more defiant response from him. Instead, Williamson shrugged it off, with O’Neal saying that shows him “he ain’t ready.”
What makes all of this so interesting is that you genuinely could not find two former players that are more equipped to speak from experience on what Williamson is going through with his weight and conditioning. Both Barkley and Shaq took time early in their careers to get their bodies right and learn how to dominate, which is why they’re so hard on Zion — Barkley once quipped Williamson looked like “me and Shaq had a baby.” For years, Barkley has offered to talk with Zion and provide some guidance, but that has not come to fruition in private so he continues to try and harp on it on national television. Shaq, meanwhile, just wants Williamson to take personal offense to it all and use it as motivation to prove everyone wrong and become the dominant player he could be, rather than brushing it all aside.
