This year, on Orquídeas, she will do it all again, but in Spanish.
In a statement, she discussed the delicate inspiration behind the forthcoming project. “The orchid is the national flower of Colombia, and we have more species of orchid than anywhere on earth,” she said. “I always felt distinctly intrigued and magnetized by the flower. This album is inspired by the timeless, eerie, mystic, striking, graceful, and sensual allure of the orchid. With this vast scope of fresh energy, I wish to redefine the way we look at Latinas in music.”

The Christmas holiday has long since passed. But if you’re in the mood for biblical stories, The Book Of Clarence has you covered. In November, to build up hype for the film, director Jeymes Samuel began to tease the supporting soundtrack back by Jay-Z.
Starting strong, Samuel dropped the lead single, “Hallelujah Heaven,” featuring Lil Wayne, Buju Banton, and Shabba Ranks. Since then, details surrounding the soundtrack have been sparse. So, when does the soundtrack for The Book Of Clarence come out?
Although an official release date has not been announced, it would be safe to assume that the project will be released in alignment with the film’s theatrical debut on January 12. Hopefully, the soundtrack will be made publicly available across streaming services the day before to give ticketholders time to absorb the project. In a press statement, Samuel shared his excitement for the musical side of the film.
“While I was working on ‘The Harder They Fall,’ and all my other projects, the story and the music for ‘The Book of Clarence’ were always there percolating in my mind,” he said. “There was never a question as to whether I would compose the score and write and perform on the soundtrack, as well as write and direct the movie. It was all one amazing journey where one depended on the other. But I also worked with the most awesome artists on our track ‘Hallelujah Heaven.’ Collaborating with Lil Wayne, Buju Banton, and Shabba Ranks was so dope; I loved getting them all on the same track.”
During a sit-down with Elliott Wilson, Jay-Z confirmed that he does appear on the soundtrack by way of an over 9-minute-long collaboration with D’Angelo.
For the first time since 1997, the Michigan Wolverines are the champions of the college football world. Michigan faced off against Washington in the College Football Playoff national championship game on Monday night, and behind a tough running game and a defense that put the clamps on one of the best offenses in America, the Wolverines were able to come out on top, 34-13.
It didn’t look like the final score was going to be that one-sided, as the Huskies had chance after chance to tie things up. But between Michael Penix’s radar just being a little off, drops by a brilliant skill position group, or Michigan’s ferocious defense making monster plays, the Wolverines were able to keep them at arm’s length. And as the game reached its conclusion, there was only one thing left to do: Dump a big cooler of Gatorade on Jim Harbaugh. The issue is that Harbaugh was a pretty good athlete in his day, so he was able to step right out of the way.

21 Savage may be a London native, but Atlanta, Georgia, is where his heart is. As part of his forthcoming film, American Dream: The 21 Savage Story, Donald Glover will examine how, in 2019, the rapper found himself in a fierce legal battle with US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).
Last month, 21 Savage’s legal issues were put to bed. To celebrate, he took a trip back to the UK for a larger-than-life homecoming concert. During the show, he was on track to release his first solo album in nearly six years. Fans now know this long-awaited music project will serve as the visual’s official soundtrack. So when does the American Dream: The 21 Savage Story soundtrack come out?
Unfortunately, the release details are a bit murky because the webpage linked to his social media pages seems to be broken. But according to 21 Savage’s latest post on X (formerly Twitter), the album is set to be released on Friday, January 12.
The promotional poster and supporting trailer starring 21 Savage, Glover, and Stranger Things actor Caleb McLaughlin show that in the film, viewers will journey through his initial move to the US, Atlanta upbringing, and his rise to fame. Watch 21 Savage’s trailer below.

Last week Aaron Rodgers did a dumb, weird thing: While on The Pat McAfee Show he randomly and baselessly suggested late night talk show host would be on Jeffrey Epstein’s list of former clients (alongside the frontrunner for the GOP ticket, incidentally). Why would he do that? As with some of the quarterback’s other beliefs, it’s a mystery. Kimmel responded by threatening legal action. Both McAfee and ESPN apologized. Rodgers, so far, has not. The ball was thus in Kimmel’s court about what to do next. The answer, at least for now: roast the crap out of him on his show.
On his first show of 2024, Kimmel said it was “already a crazy year, particularly for me.” He relayed the strange story, while noting the troubling real world implications it’s created for him.
“When you hear a guy who won a Super Bowl and did all the State Farm commercials say something like this, a lot of people believe it,” Kimmel told the crowd. He compared what Rodgers said to what the QAnon crazies have claimed about him, namely that he’s one of the Hollywood types, like Tom Cruise and Oprah Winfrey, who drink the blood of children.
“I know this because I hear from these people often,” he said, “My wife hears from them. My kids hear from them. My poor mailman hears from these people. And now we’re hearing from lots more of them thanks to Aaron Rodgers.”
Kimmel then speculated that Rodgers “believes one of two things. He actually believes my name was going to be on Epstein’s list, which is insane. Or the more likely scenario was he doesn’t actually believe that, he just said it because he’s mad at me for making fun of his top knot and his lies about being vaccinated.” Kimmel then shared a clip of him mocking Rodgers last February about his theory that the spate of UFO sightings were a cover-up for the Epstein documents, which began to be unsealed last week.
He’s particularly upset, I think, because I made fun of the fact that he floated this wacko idea that the UFO sightings that were in the news in February were being reported to distract us from the Epstein list. That’s Aaron’s theory that he shared, and I mocked him.
Kimmel then summed up Rodgers pretty good:
I spent years doing sports. I’ve seen guys like him before. Aaron Rodgers has a very high opinion of himself because he had success on the football field, he believes himself to be an extraordinary being. He genuinely thinks that because God gave him the ability to throw a ball, he’s smarter than everyone else. The idea that his brain is just average is unfathomable to him. We learned during COVID that he somehow knows more about science than scientists. A guy who went to community college then got into Cal [University of California, Berkeley] on a football scholarship, and didn’t graduate, someone who never spent a minute studying the human body is an expert in the field of immunology. He put on a magic helmet and that G [the Green Bay Packers logo] made him a genius. Aaron got two As on his report card, they were both for the word ‘Aaron.’
Kimmel concluded that “this hamster-brained man” is suffering from something called the Dunning-Kruger effect, which is defined as “cognitive bias in which people with limited competence in a particular domain overestimate their abilities.”
“In other words, Aaron Rodgers is too arrogant to know how ignorant he is,” he said. “They let him host Jeopardy! for two weeks, now he knows everything.”
Kimmel wrapped things up on a positive note, of sorts: “I also want to say congratulations to Aaron Rodgers, who has done the impossible: He made the New York Jets look even worse.”

Ja Morant‘s 2023-24 season has come to an end. According to a statement put out by the Memphis Grizzlies, Morant injured his shoulder during a training session on Saturday, and after further examination, it was determined that he suffered an injury that will require surgery.
“At Saturday’s training session, Morant suffered a subluxation of his right shoulder. Following ongoing soreness and instability, Morant underwent an MRI that revealed an underlying labral tear,” the team said in a statement. “Morant will undergo season-ending surgery and is expected to make a full recovery ahead of the 2024-25 season.”
Morant’s campaign has been limited to nine games as he served a 25-game suspension to start the season. His return did serve as a galvanizing force for the team, as Memphis went 6-3 with Morant in the lineup and was able to make up a little ground in the race to sneak into the back of the Play-In Tournament — they’ve gone 7-20 without him in the lineup. Injuries have hit the team particularly hard this season, as Steven Adams is out for the year and Brandon Clarke is sidelined after an achilles injury last March.
While he hasn’t played in a ton of games, Morant shouldered a heavy load when he was on the floor, as he averaged 25.1 points, 8.1 assists, and 5.6 rebounds in 35.3 minutes a night.
As any avid Upworthy reader will tell you—we have our fair share of heartwarming stories involving strangers returning lost itemsto their owners. It’s just such a perfect example of humanity at its best.
But this story has all that, plus an extra layer of feel-good.
Here’s what happened:
An Englishwoman named Georgia Girelli, had lost her purse and was “crying her eyes out” because of her missing item.
Luckily, the man who found it at a gas station ventured up to her house to return it. Girelli wasn’t home at the time, but her doorbell cam captured their entire exchange.
In the clip (shared to Reddit/MadeMeSmile) the man shared that he had intended to wait until morning to return the bag, but then remembered the inconsolable distress felt by an ex who was in a similar situation, and wanted to help Girelli avoid feeling that kind of stress.
Moved by his thoughtfulness, Girelli insisted on paying the man back, even telling him to take some money out of the purse itself.
But the man simply said, “Nah, just pay it forward. Just do something nice for the next person.”
Before exiting, the man shared that “I’m a firefighter, I don’t need money for doing a good deed.”
Of course, you can read all this. But then you miss the accents and use of words like “wheelie bin” that might just give you your “Ted Lasso” fix. The guy even looks like Roy Kent, for goodness sake.
It’s nice enough that this man made the effort to return Girelli’s purse, even nicer that he returned it as soon as possible. But then there’s that extra lesson of spreading kindness.
We all know that doing this helps make the world a better place, and makes us feel pretty damn good in return. But it can be easy to miss opportunities to actually do it. So seeing almost effortless examples can maybe help bolster our resolve. And heaven bless the individuals who set the example.
