Brie Larson Had A Bit Of A Fangirl Meltdown When She Met Jennifer Lopez At The Golden Globes

One of the more memorable celebrity pairings at the 2024 Golden Globes happened before the ceremony even started. During an interview with Entertainment Tonight, Brie Larson spotted Jennifer Lopez walking the red carpet. “Oh my god, I’m gonna cry. I can’t deal with J-Lo,” The Marvels actress said while pretending to hyperventilate. Or maybe it wasn’t pretend: Larson looked genuinely overwhelmed when the Queen of Dunkin approached her.

“You mean so much to me,” Larson told Lopez, who gave her a hug and said she was a fan, too. Larson told her that she “saw Selena and it made me want to be an actor, and you’ve always meant so much to me. It’s been a dream of mine, so thank you so much. Your work ethic is so important.” They held hands before hugging again. You can watch the sweet moment below.

Both Larson and Lopez have been nominated for Golden Globes (Larson won Best Actress in a Motion Picture – Drama for Room; Lopez was nominated for Best Actress – Motion Picture Comedy or Musical for Selena), but they have something else in common: musical careers. Lopez’s is more successful, of course, including four number one singles on the Hot 100. But don’t overlook “Finally Out Of P.E.”

What Did Selena Gomez Say About Timothée Chalamet At The 2024 Golden Globes?

The 2024 Golden Globes went down last night (January 7), and for some, the highlight of the evening wasn’t something that happened on stage. Rather, there was a Selena Gomez moment that has the internet talking.

What did Selena Gomez say about Timothée Chalamet at the 2024 Golden Globes?

Videos from the event (seen here and here) show Gomez telling Taylor Swift and Keleigh Teller something that leaves them with shocked reactions on their faces. It’s tough to make out exactly what was said, but there has been speculation. Per Just Jared, Gomez supposedly told the two, “I asked for a picture with him and she said no.” Teller supposedly replied, “With Timothee?” Gomez then nodded in confirmation.

The “she” in this case is believe to be Kylie Jenner. The above is just interpretation/speculation, though, and nobody involved has publicly said anything about it.

Gomez and Chalamet have worked together before, as they both starred in the 2019 movie A Rainy Day In New York. Meanwhile, Gomez and Jenner were previously involved in some supposed beef over Hailey Bieber. Jenner said at the time, though, “This is reaching. No shade towards Selena ever, and I didn’t see her eyebrow posts! u guys are making something out of nothing. this is silly.”

Bill Hader And Ali Wong’s Kiss During The Globes Somehow Shocked Viewers Who Had No Idea That They’ve Been Dating For Awhile

Bill Hader Ali Wong

Those who pay attention to Bill Hader’s love life (and Rachel Bilson famously gave people a very big reason, which allegedly is his dong, to pay attention to it) were not surprised to see him kissing Ali Wong at the Golden Globes. The mutually funny pair have been dating since at least last April, which is when they were first caught canoodling together in public.

Wong was later quoted as being shocked that anyone cared about their canoodling, but again, she can probably credit Rachel Bilson for the intrigue. Heck, Extra even asked Wong about the awards-show kiss, which took place after Wong was announced as the winner of Best Actress In A Limited Series, Anthology Series, Or Made For TV Movie award.

Cue the “wait, what?” reaction to this video clip:

Hey, Wong admitted to being seriously stressed out by the process of filming Beef, so I am happy that she’s with someone who makes everyone laugh, and that hopefully includes her on a regular basis. Still, let the surprised (and themed with SNL‘s Stefon) reactions begin:

A few (dozen) people did already know, however, and they are congratulating those who are normal enough not to have known:

By the way, here’s that video of Wong being asked by Extra about the kiss, and she (of course) laughed in response.

The Falcons Fired Arthur Smith After Their Blowout Loss To The Saints

The Atlanta Falcons will join the soon-to-grow list of teams that will be searching for a new head coach this offseason. Atlanta capped off a wildly frustrating season in which they went 7-10 despite arguably the easiest schedule in football with a 48-17 blowout loss to the rival New Orleans Saints in which they allowed 31 unanswered points in the second half and the offense imploded on itself (as it has far too many times this season). The game ended with Smith cussing out Saints head coach Dennis Allen for running the score up late — something that ended up being a rogue call by Jameis Winston and the Saints offense.

The team did not waste any time making a decision on Smith, as word broke at 12:02 a.m. ET on Monday that the Falcons were firing their head coach after three seasons at the helm — winning just seven games in all of them.

Smith was brought in to figure out how to make the Falcons offense more dynamic, but after a promising year running the ball in 2022, they regressed in 2023 despite investing a third straight top-10 pick on a skill position player — running back Bijan Robinson. Falcons fans (and the greater fantasy football community) have been driven insane by Smith’s playcalling and player usage, as he routinely used the guys expected to be in starring roles as decoys, getting the ball to lesser known names. That would be fine if it worked, but the Falcons were 26th in the NFL in points per game this year, with serious issues finishing drives in plus territory and the red zone.

Firing Smith is just the start of what should be some major changes in Atlanta, as while he was the focal point of frustrations for many, he is far from the only one deserving blame. Atlanta had a clear deficit at the quarterback position coming into the year but publicly stated they had no interest in pursuing Lamar Jackson (who has gone on to have an MVP-type season in Baltimore) and rode with Desmond Ridder and Taylor Heinicke to rather miserable results. They did see serious defensive improvements, but that only served to highlight the offensive ineptitude and raised frustrations with this year’s performance. Now, one would expect a new head coach and a new quarterback to be the top priorities in Atlanta this offseason, with a bit of mystery about where they’ll go to fill each of those spots.

Tua Tagovailoa’s Late Interception Sets Up Steelers-Bills and Dolphins-Chiefs In The Playoffs

taylor rapp interception
NBC

The Dolphins and Bills met in Miami in the final game of the NFL’s regular season with the AFC East title and the 2-seed in the conference on the line. Early on it looked like we were going to be headed for a rematch in the Wild Card round, as the Dolphins took a 14-7 lead and were running the ball seemingly at will in the first half, while the Bills kept squandering opportunities with untimely turnovers.

However, in the second half things flipped as the Buffalo defense woke up and put the clamps on Miami’s offense, Josh Allen started to make timely plays in the fourth quarter, and they got a huge play from their special teams on a 96-yard punt return touchdown from Deonte Harty.

After taking their first lead of the game at 21-14, Buffalo had a chance to ice the game on 4th and 1 in plus territory, but Allen got stuffed on a sneak attempt and the Dolphins took over with a chance to tie the game and force overtime.

Miami would move the ball across midfield, but their last gasp effort at extending the game ended on a rather dreadful Tua Tagovailoa interception as he overthrew Chase Claypool (one play after throwing high and getting Tyreek Hill hit hard, forcing him out of the game for the next play) and Taylor Rapp made a diving interception to ice the game.

The Bills defense putting the game on ice was fitting with how well they played in the second half, and now they will go back to Buffalo where they get to play host to the Pittsburgh Steelers on Sunday afternoon at 1 p.m. ET on CBS. Miami, meanwhile, will have to play Saturday night at Kansas City where they’ll have to deal with 1 degree temperature and the defending champs on a Peacock exclusive game — the full Wild Card weekend schedule can be found here.

The NFL Released The Full TV Schedule For Wild Card Weekend

ceedee lamb packers

While the Dolphins and Bills were still battling it out for the AFC East crown and the 2-seed in the conference, the NFL released the full schedule for Wild Card weekend at halftime of the Buffalo-Miami battle since everything was set except for two matchups (and all 14 playoff teams were locked in).

Unsurprisingly, the Saturday afternoon game will be the Browns at Texans, as Houston has been in the leadoff spot on Wild Card weekend pretty much any year they’ve won the AFC South. The Saturday night game will be the Chiefs at home against either the Steelers or Dolphins in a Peacock exclusive, which you can bet will lead to some very unhappy fans when they realize they need to pay for NBC’s app to watch a playoff game — NBC spent all of Sunday night’s game plugging this, but it will still catch plenty of folks off guard.

Also coming as little surprise is FOX getting Packers-Cowboys in the midday slate, with the either Steelers-Bills or Bills-Dolphins going to CBS at 1 p.m. and Matthew Stafford’s return to Detroit earning the primetime placement on NBC. The Eagles traveling to Tampa will round out the weekend’s games on ESPN, with the full schedule available below.

Saturday, January 13
Browns at Texans, 4:30 p.m. ET (NBC)

TBD (Steelers OR Dolphins) at Chiefs, 8:15 p.m. ET (Peacock)

Sunday, January 14
Steelers at Bills OR Bills at Dolphins, 1:00 p.m. ET (CBS)

Packers at Cowboys, 4:30 p.m. ET (FOX)

Rams at Lions, 8:15 p.m. ET (NBC)

Monday, January 15
Eagles at Buccaneers, 8:15 p.m. ET (ESPN/ABC)

Taylor Swift Was Not Impressed By A Golden Globes Joke About Her (But She Loved Ayo Edebiri Winning An Award)

Taylor Swift attended the 2024 Golden Globes without the man who lets her bejeweled, Travis Kelce, whose playoff-bound Kansas City Chiefs played the Los Angeles Chargers earlier in the day. Swift looked like she wished she was there — or literally anywhere else — during Globes host Jo Koy’s monologue.

“We came on after a football doubleheader,” the comedian said. “The big difference between the Golden Globes and the NFL… On the Golden Globes we have fewer camera shots of Taylor Swift.” This was Swift’s reaction:

cbs

Koy, whose monologue was met with light boos from the crowd, later said, “Yo, I got the gig 10 days ago. You want a perfect monologue? Yo, shut up. I wrote some of these, and those are the ones you’re gonna laugh at.”

Swift looked much happier later in the show, when Ayo Edebiri won Best Performance in a Television Series – Musical or Comedy for her performance in The Bear.

Swift’s Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour concert film is nominated for Oscars Cheer Moment, I mean, Cinematic and Box Office Achievement along with Barbie, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, John Wick: Chapter 4, Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One, Oppenheimer, Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, and The Super Mario Bros. Movie.

Trent Sherfield Made A Wild, Toe-Dragging TD Catch After A Pass Hit A Defender’s Helmet

bills catch
NBC

The final game of the NFL regular season was a battle for the AFC East between the Buffalo Bills and Miami Dolphins. The winner would become the 2-seed in the AFC playoffs and host a playoff game next weekend, while the loser would drop to the 6 or 7-seed and go on the road.

While the Bills had some stress alleviated by Jacksonville’s loss earlier in the day that assured them at least a playoff berth, those were still significant stakes for Sunday night’s game and the two teams played a tense first half as you might expect. Miami would take the first lead of the game on a De’Vone Achane run, and it seemed like the Bills offense was stuck in the mud for much of the early going. They would finally get a little rhythm in the passing game, moving into the red zone on a deep ball from Josh Allen to Stefon Diggs, and then scored a touchdown on a wild play where an Allen pass ricocheted way up into the air off a defender’s helmet, falling into the arms of Trent Sherfield in the back of the end zone.

It was an incredible play by Sherfield to track the ball, haul it in, and keep his toes on the ground as he fell out the back of the end zone.

Given how tipped passes like that typically result in disaster for the offense, this was a rare time where things worked out for the team passing the ball, and it could end up being a very important play for their playoff seeding.

Pedro Pascal Attended The 2024 Golden Globes With His Arm In A Sling

pedro

Pedro Pascal is up for Best Actor – Television Series Drama at the 2024 Golden Globes. If he wins, maybe he’ll explain what happened to his arm.

The Last of Us star was recently spotted with his right arm in a sling. He hasn’t publicly commented on the injury, but production on season two of The Last of Us hasn’t happened yet. Maybe Gladiator 2?

“It’s kind of fun to have the permission to feel everything, contain it, or express it,” Pascal told Beef‘s Steven Yeun in a conversation for Variety. “Something that occurred to me when you were talking about process is how lonely it can be. With age, in some instances, I’ve gotten kind of scared. I can feel like I’m not in it, and I don’t know how to get in it, and I don’t know what I need to do to get in it, other than just breathe, not bail, let all the feelings be and be present.

The other actors nominated in the same category as Pascal are Brian Cox for Succession, Kieran Culkin for Succession, Gary Oldman for binge favorite Slow Horses, Jeremy Strong for Succession, and Dominic West for The Crown. You can find the full list of winners here.
