Last year, Christina Aguilera fans begged the singer for a world tour come 2024. Instead of committing to a journey around the globe, Aguilera decided to meet them in the middle by announcing her Las Vegas residency at The Venetian’s Voltaire Belle De Nuit. After two successful shows (December 30 and December 31, 2024), Aguilera shocked ticketholders when she revealed that she would have to postpone the subsequent performances.

So, why did Christina Aguilera postpone her Las Vegas residency? According to Aguilera’s note shared on her Instagram Stories (screenshot by EW) on January 3, the residency has been postponed because she contracted the flu.

“After welcoming all of you to the new year from the stage in Las Vegas, I’ve been welcomed with a new year flu! I am sorry to share that my two shows this weekend will be rescheduled while I rest — and I cannot wait to be back on that stage in a few weeks,” wrote Aguilera.

“I’m incredibly proud of this show and grateful for all of the support and love after opening weekend! See you soon.”

The Venetian’s official website now lists the new residency schedule. As before, each show is scheduled to start at 9:30 p.m. Previous ticket holders are encouraged to check their email associated with the point of purchase for refund or exchange details. Find more information here.

When Will The ‘Peaky Blinders’ Movie Come Out?

Peaky Blinders
Netflix

Cillian Murphy had quite the 2023. The Irish actor once again reteamed with his longtime collaborator Christopher Nolan, this time as the lead. The result was Oppenheimer, which achieved a modern rarity: an adult-oriented non-franchise blockbuster that made a ton of money. It even had sex! Now people are even more excited for the Peaky Blinders movie, which continues the show that’s beloved with everyone save Ron DeSantis. But when will people get to see it?

The answer: Probably in 2025. In a recent chat with Radio Times (as caught by Games Radar), show creator Steven Knight gave an update on the movie, which will continue the story of the real-life titular gang, which terrorized Birmingham starting in the 1890s. The show itself starts the aftermath of World War I; its most recent series begins in 1933, with the rise of Hitler.

“I’m just working on the final bits of it at the moment,” Knight revealed. “The plan is to start shooting that in the middle of [2024].”

Unless they can rush through post-production, it’s a safe bet that the film won’t be ready until sometime the following year. Knight had previously said the film will be done this year, but that seems unlikely.

Peaky Blinders first aired on BBC Two back in 2013 and has intermittently added a new batch of six episodes every couple years. The last series dropped in April of last year. Murphy plays gang leader Tommy Shelby, a former sergeant major who leads the gang through untold choppy waters across (so far) a decade-and-a-half. The film is supposed to take the place of a seventh season. It’s also supposed to get two spinoffs.

50 Cent Offers To Help Terrence Howard With His ‘Empire’ Lawsuit Despite Being Involved In Several Legal Battles Himself

50 Cent knows his way around the courtroom. Over the years, 50 (real name Curtis Jackson) has been named in or initiated a lawsuit (or two). In many of these cases, Jackson either came out victorious or settled in his favor. On Friday, January 5, Jackson revealed that he’s willing to provide what he’s learned in the legal system with his Get Rich Or Die Tryin’ co-star Terrence Howard.

Last month, Howard sued the Creative Artists Agency (CAA) for breach of fiduciary duty. During his press conference on December 8, 2023, Howard alleged that the CAA told him to take a lower salary for the popular FOX show Empire. In a post shared to Jackson’s official Instagram page, he offered to help Howard with his Empire lawsuit.

“Damn, Terrence Howard, call my phone,”wrote Jackson, reposting a clip from the press conference. “I will get you the money they were supposed to get for you. I’m not playing no games over here.”

Jackson has done his sharing of online trolling surrounding other hot topics, but he seems sincere. However, since he is reportedly in mediation for a Power-related lawsuit, with another eight-figure filing awaiting him, Jackson’s hands are already quite full. Neither Howard nor his legal representative have responded to Jackson’s offer.

Vivek Ramaswamy Is Being Reminded That (Unlike Now) He Used To Think Jan. 6 Was An ‘Abhorrent’ Event That Left Him In ‘Tears’

Vivek Ramaswamy

Like many Republicans, pharma bro-turned-presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy used to be appalled by the Jan. 6 Capitol riot. In the ensuring three years, the attitude in the party is to downplay it, to argue that it was no big deal, and that the man chiefly responsible for inciting it, Donald Trump, should be president again. In the last couple months, though, Ramaswamy has gone a few steps further — further even than Tucker Carlson: He’s been arguing that it was an “inside job” — an old line that’s already been thoroughly debunked. On the incident’s third anniversary, he again aired that line, or something like it. But that only caused people to remind him of his earlier, more accurate stance.

“Happy Entrapment Day,” Ramaswamy tweeted on Saturday, as caught by Mediaite.

What on earth is he talking about? It’s hard to say. Back during the fourth GOP debate in December (he wasn’t invited to the latest GOP town halls because his polling stinks), Ramaswamy bragged about being the only one on the stage that night he thinks Jan. 6 was some kind of false flag operation. When later pressed for specifics, he vaguely spoke about speaking with “multiple informants suggesting that they were” federal law enforcement ensconced within the crowd that fateful day.

So has Ramaswamy seen new, damning evidence that he still hasn’t made public? Or has he simply realized that it’s a better move for him with MAGA types to go conspiratorial?

Whatever the case, after his tweet people dug up the Ramaswamy from three years ago, who tweeted things like, “What Trump did last was wrong. Downright abhorrent. Plain and simple. I’ve said it before and did so in my piece.”

Or who went on television and said he “was in tears” watching footage of Trump supporters, many of whom have since been arrested and jailed, violently overtaking the Capitol building.

Others simply reminded him that people died that day and maybe this isn’t something to trivialize.

In the meantime, Trump himself, who continues to spread voter fraud nonsense about an election he lost, is out on the campaign trail, convincing people of his mental competence by revealing he has no idea how magnets work.

Taylor Swift’s Team Is Reportedly Disgusted By An Article Speculating Over The Singer’s Sexuality

As one of the world’s most successful musicians, Taylor Swift lives life in the open. From what she wears to who she’s dating (hi, Travis Kelce), nothing slips past the Swifties. However, New York Times journalist Anna Marks believes she’s hiding something from the world.

In Marks’ latest piece (published on January 4), she theorizes that Swift is secretly queer. News of the story’s publishing made it back to Swift’s team, and they are reportedly not happy about it, according to CNN. On Saturday, January 6, a source close to the matter shared an exclusive statement with the outlet.

“Because of her massive success, in this moment, there is a Taylor-shaped hole in people’s ethics,” the team said. “[The New York Times] article wouldn’t have been allowed to be written about Shawn Mendes or any male artist whose sexuality has been questioned by fans. There seems to be no boundary some journalists won’t cross when writing about Taylor, regardless of how invasive, untrue, and inappropriate it is – all under the protective veil of an ‘opinion piece.”

Swift hasn’t publicly shared any indication that she is a member of the LGBTQ community. However, she has used her platform to serve as an ally, slamming anti-LGBTQ legislation, calling out the erasure of trans and non-binary people, as well as emphasizing the importance of Pride Month.

A scorching hot take on why younger people say ‘no problem’ instead of ‘you’re welcome’

Have you ever wondered why people don’t seem to say “you’re welcome” anymore?

The phenomenon has really caught on lately but it’s roots go a back further back. Back in 2015, author and professor Tom Nichols tweeted out an angry response after receiving what he thought was poor customer service:

“Dear Every Cashier in America: the proper response to ‘thank you’ is ‘you’re welcome,’ not ‘no problem.’ And *you’re* supposed to thank *me*”The angry tweet elicited a number of mocking responses from people on social media.

But eventually one person chimed in with a detailed and thoughtful response that just might give you pause the next time you or someone you know says, “no problem.”

It’s not about being polite. Our views on gratitude are evolving.

In a response that is going viral on Reddit, on person writing under the name “lucasnoahs” laid it all out:

Actually the “you’re welcome/no problem” issue is simply a linguistics misunderstanding. Older ppl tend to say “you’re welcome,” younger ppl tend to say “no problem.” This is because for older people the act of helping or assisting someone is seen as a task that is not expected of them, but is them doing extra, so it’s them saying, “I accept your thanks because I know I deserve it.”

“No problem,” however, is used because younger people feel not only that helping or assisting someone is a given and expected but also that it should be stressed that you’re need for help was no burden to them (even if it was).

Basically, older people think help is a gift you give, younger people think help is an expectation required of them.

Nichols took a lot of flack for his comment. But the insightful response reveals something important about gratitude.

The thoughtful response from “lucasnoahs” doesn’t apply to everyone. After all, there are certainly a lot of people of any age group for whom acts of kindness and gestures of gratitude are “no problem.”

Still, his message conveys an important idea that doing well for others does not have to be a grand gesture. It can be a simple act — and the additional act of letting someone know that it’s really no problem helps relieve any potential sense of debt or guilt the person receiving the gesture might otherwise take on.

Most of the time, doing the right thing is indeed no problem. In fact, it might be the solution to a lot of the daily problems we grapple with.

Meryl Streep Praised Billie Eilish, Finneas & The ‘Barbie’ Love Bomb For Saving The Movie Industry Over The Summer

Summer 2023 belonged to the Barbie movie. The film made history after crossing the 1 billion dollar box office threshold. Even the official soundtrack is on track to set records in the music sector. One of the standout tracks is Billie Eilish’s Grammy Award-nominated song “What Was I Made For?” But in the eyes of Meryl Streep, Billie and Finneas’ off-screen contribution to the film is grander than the public realizes.

On Thursday, January 4, during the Palm Springs International Film Awards, Streep took a moment to sing the praises of the sibling duo. According to People, Streep said to the pair, “You have delivered the ‘Barbie’ love bomb.”

She added, “You’ve saved the movies last summer. All of our jobs. You’ve delivered joy to countless generations and genders of people, and you should surf that wave, kids — until you are old and deserve to be jaded like me.”

Billie and Finneas reportedly blushed in response to Streep’s flower-giving.

In November, as part of a Hollywood Reporter feature, Billie spoke candidly about what went into penning the moving ballad. “I thank God for [Barbie director Greta Gerwig], man,” she said. “I honestly was concerned that it was over for me. I’ve got to be honest with you. She saved me, really, honestly. Getting that request it was like a FaceTime, it brought us both out of it, and immediately we were inspired and wrote so much more after that. Especially when it came out, I was like, ‘Aye yai yai.’ It was like somebody reading your diary or something.”

Barbie is available on streaming now.

It Sure Seemed As Though Joe Biden Came This Close To Calling Trump A ‘Sick F*ck’ Over His Disgusting Paul Pelosi Comments

Trump Biden

Joe Biden is a famously nice guy, and it takes a lot to make him mad. One thing that does get under his skin? The idea of another Donald Trump presidency. With Election Day 2024 only about 10 months away, the sitting president has been ramping up his attacks on his possible successor. In a fiery speech in Pennsylvania Friday, Biden depicted the election as not so much a choice between him and Trump but between democracy and a dictatorship, which Trump has been threatening. It’s also between decency and someone so deplorable he almost makes Biden cuss.

“You can’t be pro-insurrectionist and pro-American,” Biden thundered at one point. He then referenced the horrific attack on Nancy Pelosi’s husband, Paul, which a lot of MAGA world, Trump very much included, thought was hilarious.

“You know, Trump and his MAGA supporters not only embrace political violence, but they laugh about it,” he said. “At his rally, he jokes about an intruder, whipped up by the Big Trump Lie, taking a hammer to Paul Pelosi’s skull and echoing the very same words used on January 6th: ‘Where’s Nancy?’”

Biden added, “And he thinks that’s funny. He laughed about it. What a sick —”

At this point Biden, who’s no stranger to gaffes, caught himself before he said something blue. Some imagined he was a millisecond from dropping an f-bomb.

Hours after Biden’s speech, Trump responded at a rally, where all he did was make fun of Biden’s stutter, which by the way was not evident in his speech.

At the same rally Trump also told those horrified by the umpteenth school shooting to “get over” it and had one of his massive brain farts, this time about how magnets work.

Elon Musk Pokes Fun At Green Day’s ‘American Idiot’ Lyric Change During Their ‘New Year’s Rockin Eve’ Performance

New year, new beginnings isn’t the motto Green Day ascribes to. The band has decided to use their 2024 Rockin’ Eve performance to revisit their old beef with former president Donald Trump, during which they changed the lyrics of their hit song “American Idiot.”

Conservative political pundits took issue with the modification, as did Tesla man Elon Musk. After one person wrote, “Green Day tried to prove they’re still cool by changing their lyrics to slam the “MAGA agenda on TV last night 🤡,” Musk responded by writing, “Green Day goes from raging against the machine to milquetoastedly raging for it.”

What was the lyric change? Lead singer Billie Joe Armstrong swapped out the “I’m not a part of a redneck agenda” line with “I’m not a part of the MAGA agenda.” With Green Day’s forthcoming album Saviors slated to hit streaming platforms later this month, it’s safe to assume their Rockin’ Eve set is only the beginning of their musical political jabs.

Green Day’s Saviors is out 1/19/2024 via Reprise Records. Find more information here.

A police officer makes a profound statement after pulling over a Black teen

“Try not to become a man of success but rather try to become a man of value.”

In October 2016, that was a quote from Albert Einstein that sat atop the Facebook page of Tim McMillan, a police officer in Georgia.

McMillan become a sensation after a post he wrote on his Facebook wall went viral in 2016. In his post, he explains how he pulled over a Black teen for texting while driving:

“I pulled a car over last night for texting and driving. When I went to talk to the driver, I found a young black male, who was looking at me like he was absolutely terrified with his hands up. He said, ‘What do you want me to do officer?’ His voice was quivering. He was genuinely scared,” McMillan wrote.

Police officer Facebook post

But McMillan said he wasn’t interested in harassing or arresting the young man, let alone inflicting violence upon him. Nonetheless, the teen’s emotional response hit McMillan like a punch to the gut.

“I just looked at him for a moment, because what I was seeing made me sad. I said, ‘I just don’t want you to get hurt.’ In which he replied, with his voice still shaking, ‘Do you want me to get out of the car.’ I said, ‘No, I don’t want you to text and drive. I don’t want you to get in a wreck. I want your mom to always have her baby boy. I want you to grow up and be somebody. I don’t even want to write you a ticket. Just please pay attention, and put the phone down. I just don’t want you to get hurt,'” he wrote.

McMillan said the interaction made him reflect on a deeply personal level about the national attention being paid to acts of police violence against Black Americans, particularly young Black men.

“I truly don’t even care who’s fault it is that young man was so scared to have a police officer at his window. Blame the media, blame bad cops, blame protestors, or Colin Kaepernick if you want. It doesn’t matter to me who’s to blame. I just wish somebody would fix it.”
