When Does ‘Rhythm + Flow’ Season 2 Come Out?

After nearly five years, Netflix has announced the return of Rhythm + Flow for season 2. The first season, which aired in 2019, featured judges Cardi B, Chance The Rapper, and T.I. critiquing a crew of unsigned rappers as they competed for a $250,000 grand prize.

Guest judges on the show included Anderson .Paak, Big Boi, DJ Khaled, Fat Joe, Jadakiss, Killer Mike, Lupe Fiasco, Nipsey Hussle, Quavo, and Snoop Dogg, among others, and the winner, D Smoke, was eventually nominated for three Grammy Awards.

When Does Rhythm + Flow Season 2 Come Out?

Netflix hasn’t revealed when the second season — which was originally scheduled to air in 2021 — will begin streaming on the platform, it has shared a few details, including the new lineup of judges.

The new judges on Rhythm + Flow will include DJ Khaled, moving up from his guest judging duties in season one; Latto, who started her career as the winner of Lifetime’s The Rap Game, making her uniquely suited to the role; and Ludacris, whose rap success has led to an equally successful film career.

One guest judge that has been teased is Eminem, who will oversee the rap battle challenge, playing on his own career as a battle rapper.

More details will be revealed closer to the release date. You can watch season 1 of Rhythm + Flow on Netflix.

Bobi, Formerly The World’s Oldest Dog, Gets His Title Viciously Suspended While Under Investigation

Bobi

Some people out there want to achieve some sort of world record (why not!) but they simply do not have any talent. Yes, you could get a record for spinning large hula hoops or eating a part of the world’s largest pizza but that requires some skill. Owning a dog that is just too old and stubborn to die? That’s a blessing.

Bobi was declared the World’s Oldest Dog last year, before passing away in October at age 31. But that poor dog might have been lied to, because he might not actually be the world’s oldest dog, and his veterinarians weren’t convinced. This is the biggest news in dog drama since Clifford got CGI-ed.

According to Leonel Costa, Bobi’s owner, some veterinarians were upset that he was allegedly fed “human food” rather than pet food, and didn’t believe that he was really that old. A spokesperson from Guinness said, “While our review is ongoing, we have decided to temporarily pause applications on both the record titles for oldest dog living and (oldest dog) ever until all of our findings are in place and have been communicated.”

An investigation from Wired in December stated that Bobi had only been formally registered in the Portuguese government’s pet database since July 2022, even though Costa registered the dog as having been born in 1992. There was no other proof of the dog’s birth date.

In a statement (via AP) Costa defended his pup, and said that Guinness World Records had spent a year checking the record claim.

The worst part about all of this? These dogs have no idea what’s going on. You can’t even try to explain it to them, they just don’t understand because they don’t speak human English. So they’ll be fine as long as they get a little treat.

Is Your Name Daniel? Congratulations, You’re Allowed To Go To Real Estate’s Album Release Concert

So far, Real Estate has had some fun during the rollout of their upcoming album, Daniel. They recruited Danny Tamberelli and Michael C. Maronna for a The Adventures Of Pete & Pete-inspired “Water Underground” video, for example. Now, with just about a month left before the project’s February 23 street date, the band came up with a neat idea for an album release show.

The band is playing a concert at New York City’s Union Pool on February 22, and admission will be free. There is a significant catch, though: It’s a “Daniel-only” show, meaning your first, middle or last name must be Daniel or something really similar (a press release lists Dan, Danielle, Danny, Daniella, and Danielson as some acceptable derivatives). There might be some non-Daniels in attendance, though, as they’ll be allowed in, but only as a plus-one to a permissible Daniel.

If you got lucky with naming as it applies to this specific scenario (or if you have a Daniel in your life willing to escort you), learn more about getting tickets at the band’s website.

This news was also accompanied today (January 18) with the release of a new single, “Haunted World.” It’s a mellow, twangy number dealing with existentialism. The band’s Martin Courtney says of the tune, “‘Haunted World’ sounds like a ’90s sitcom theme to us. Network execs — this song is available and we are ready and willing to sell to the highest bidder. We’re super happy with how this one turned out. We had a nice arrangement worked out before we headed to Nashville to record, but it really came to life in the studio. Sometimes a song will surprise you like that.”

Listen to “Haunted World” above.

Whoopi Goldberg Calls The Talking Heads Of Fox News ‘The Snowflakiest People I’ve Ever Seen’

Whoopi Goldberg wasted no time firing back at Fox News after the network criticized Vice President Kamala Harris‘ recent appearance on The View. The conservative talking heads took particular aim at Harris for admitting she’s “scared as heck” of Donald Trump winning the 2024 election. Whoopi was not having it.

“You know, you folks are the snowflakiest people I’ve ever seen,” Goldberg said after playing clips of Jesse Watters and the talking heads at Fox losing their minds.

Via Mediaite:

“You don’t know what she’s scared of? You don’t know? You haven’t been listening to what this man has said he’s going to do on day one, how he’s treated women? You don’t think we’re uncomfortable when somebody says, ‘Yeah, I’m the guy that got rid of, you know, Roe v. Wade.’ What do you mean, ‘What are you scared of?’”

Sunny Hostin also jumped in to defend the vice president from the obtuse Fox News clown show.

“Yes, she’s the second most powerful person in the world and she’s telling you, ‘Be very, very afraid,’” Hostin said. “She’s explaining to you that our our democracy really is an experiment. We’re a very young country. And that experiment can fail in the hands of a dictator. We’ve seen it happen in history. There have been great nations that no longer exist because of someone like a Donald Trump.”

However, in a surprising twist, co-host Joy Behar took a moment to praise Fox News personality and former Trump admin employee Kayleign McEnany for giving props to Harris’ appearance on The View. Behar noted that McEnany said it was “smart” for Harris to focus on abortion. “What Kamala is doing is powerful among young women,” the Fox News host said.

Netflix’s Rap Talent Show ‘Rhythm + Flow’ Is Coming Back After Nearly Five Years For Season 2 With Eminem

Does anyone remember Rhythm + Flow, Netflix’s rap competition series from several years ago? It starred Cardi B, Chance The Rapper, and T.I. as judges and helped launch the indie rap career of Inglewood MC D Smoke, whose debut album Black Habits was nominated for a Best Rap Album Grammy in 2021.

You’d be forgiven for forgetting the show, or for thinking that it had suffered the fate of so many other Netflix originals and been canceled after its first season. After all, the last we heard about a second season was nearly four years ago, and it was supposed to air sometime in 2021, but never did. However, it looks like the show is definitely returning, with Netflix posting the announcement of season 2 on its YouTube page.

It also looks like the show was retooled during its hiatus, bringing a new set of judges in addition to another batch of young rap hopefuls. This season, contestants will be judged by DJ Khaled, Latto (herself a veteran of the comp show circuit), and Ludacris — a decidedly less controversial trio than the original lineup — and special guest judge Eminem, who’ll oversee the rap battle round (naturally).

The grand prize will be $250,000 — enough to launch a career with — and more information will likely be made available soon. You can still check out season 1 here.

Gunna Puts His Charm On A Group Of Classic Video Vixens In The Video For ‘Bachelor’ With Turbo

At the top of the year, Gunna assured the world that 2024 would bring new music from the Atlanta rap star. While there’s still a little over 11 months for him to live up to that promise, the rapper continues to treat his loyal fan base. Back in November, Gunna and his longtime producer Turbo teamed up for their “Bachelor” single, and today the two delivered the music video for the track.

The new visual captures Gunna as the charming leader of a cast of ladies who are all familiar faces to the hip-hop world as they appeared in classic videos from the 2000s. KD Aubert (Fabolous’ “Into You”), Rosa Acosta (Drake’s “Best I Ever Had”), Eboni Jackson (50 Cent’s “Wanksta”), LaNisha Cole (Pharrell’s “Frontin”), Esther Baxter (Petey Pablo’s “Freek-A-Leek”), Tammy Torres (Lil Wayne’s “Mrs. Officer”), Bria Myles (Twista’s “Girl Tonite”) and Sasha Lee (David Banner’s “Play”) are all featured in the video. Gunna stands firm on his role as the leader as Turbo plays James Blake’s “Do You Ever” — the song sampled on “Bachelor” — on a grand piano. All in all, the new visual is both classy and flashy which is what we expect Gunna to be.

You can watch Gunna and Turbo’s video for “Bachelor” above.

We Ranked Our Favorite ‘Light’ Beers On The Market To Help You Find The Very Best

Half Acre/Short's/Night Shift/Bell's/Istock/Uproxx
Half Acre/Short’s/Night Shift/Bell’s/Istock/Uproxx

Maybe “Dry January” isn’t your thing. You don’t want to give up on beer completely and yet… you still want to make a healthier choice to start 2024. That’s where light beer comes in. “Light beer” doesn’t have to carry a bad connotation. Sure, there are still many light beers brewed in giant factories by macro-brewers and many of these options taste more like yellow, fizzy water than actual beer. But there are also myriad great-tasting beers that are light on calories, carbs, and alcohol just waiting to be discovered.

We don’t want you to navigate the world of light beer alone. So we ranked eight of our favorite light beers available almost anywhere. Keep scrolling to see our list.

8.) Dogfish Head Slightly Mighty

Dogfish Head Slightly Mighty
Dogfish Head

ABV: 4%

Average Price: $11 for a six-pack

The Beer:

Dogfish Head Slightly Might is a very unique beer. This IPA is only 95 calories, 3.6 carbs, 1 gram of protein, and zero grams of fat. It’s also only 4% ABV and loaded with tropical fruit flavor and gentle hop bitterness. None of that is unique. What’s interesting is the use of monk fruit as a sweetener instead of sugar. This adds even more fruity flavor to this brew without adding a single calorie.

Tasting Notes:

This lightly hazy beer begins with a nose of ripe pineapple, coconut, guava, passionfruit, citrus peels, and light, floral pine. The palate is dry, tropical, and citrus fruit-centered, and ends with a gentle hop bitterness. For a light beer, it’s surprisingly flavorful.

Bottom Line:

This isn’t your classic bitter IPA. It’s fruity, sweet, lightly bitter, and crushable.

7.) Zero Gravity McLighty’s

Zero Gravity McLighty's
Zero Gravity

ABV: 3.2%

Average Price: $17 for a 12-pack

The Beer:

Zero Gravity McLighty’s is the epitome of a crushable, light lager. It might be only 3.2% ABV, but it’s loaded with Hallertau Blanc, Hallertau Mittlefru, and Czech Saaz hops. It gets its malt backbone from the use of both Pilsner and Munich malts.

Tasting Notes:

A nose of cereal grains, freshly baked bread, caramel malts, citrus peels, and light fruit greet you before your first sip. Drinking it brings forth notes of yeasty bread, cereal grains, fresh hay, honey, and lemon. The finish is crisp and refreshing, and it leaves you craving more.

Bottom Line:

This is a classic, crushable, thirst-quenching lager. It’s low in alcohol, but surprisingly big on taste.

6.) Bent Paddle Light Lager

Bent Paddle Light Lager
Bent Paddle

ABV: 4.1%

Average Price: $17 for a 12-pack

The Beer:

This 4.1% ABV year-round brew from the folks at Bent Paddle is known for its crisp, fresh taste. This is thanks to being brewed with German Tradition hops and House Lager Strain yeast. On the malt front, it gets a big backbone from the use of Rahr 2-Row, Rahr North Star Pils, flaked non-GMO corn, and acidulated malt.

Tasting Notes:

The nose is a classic lager with a ton of sweet corn, cereal grains, honey, and lightly floral hops. The palate is a mix of cracker-like malts, cereal grains, sweet corn, fresh-cut grass, citrus, and floral hops. The finish is sweet, crisp, and highly refreshing.

Bottom Line:

You wouldn’t know this is a light lager when you sip it. It has a lot of flavor and a nice malt backbone that brings everything together nicely.

5.) Short’s Local’s Light

Short’s Local’s Light
Short’s

ABV: 5.2%

Average Price: $8 for a six-pack

The Beer:

While the light beer craze has only taken over the craft world in the last decade, the brewers at Shorts Brewing have been crafting this light lager for the last twenty years. Brewed with Pilsen malts and Perle hops, this pale lager is known for its crisp, clean, refreshing flavor all year long.

Tasting Notes:

Sweet corn, yeasty bread, honey, citrus peels, and floral hops start this beer off on the right foot on the nose. There’s more of the same in the best way possible on the palate. Cereal grains, corn, freshly baked bread, lemon peel, honey, and lightly spicy, floral hops make for a unique, crisp finish.

Bottom Line:

If you enjoy a classic, sweet corn, crisp, dry lager, this is your jam. It’s even better that it’s highly sessionable.

4.) Night Shift Nite Lite

Night Shift Nite Lite
Night Shift

ABV: 4.3%

Average Price: $9 for a four-pack of 16-ounce cans

The Beer:

This simple, refreshing beer is only 4.3% ABV and 120 calories per can. It’s not like any light beer you’ve ever had. It’s brewed with German noble hops and premium two-row barley and no preservatives or corn syrup. It tastes like a classic, crisp, German pilsner, but it’s labeled as a light beer.

Tasting Notes:

The nose is a nice mix of floral, earthy, grassy hops, lemon and orange peels, cereal grains, and honey. Sipping it brings forth notes of bready malts, cereal grains, lemongrass, hay, floral hops, and a crisp, lightly bitter, refreshing finish.

Bottom Line:

This beer is labeled as a light lager, but it tastes like a crisp, flavorful German-style pilsner. There’s nothing “light” when it comes to aroma and flavor.

3.) Lagunitas Daytime

Lagunitas Daytime
Lagunitas

ABV: 4%

Average Price: $11 for a six-pack

The Beer:

Lagunitas is well-known for its bright, flavorful, hoppy IPAs. It should come as no surprise that the brand sells a light version of its iconic style. It’s only 4% ABV, 98 calories per can, and 3 carbs. But, while it’s low on unhealthy ingredients, it’s high on citrus and tropical flavors thanks to the addition of specifically chosen malts, oats, and Centennial and Citra hops.

Tasting Notes:

Orchard fruits, apricots, lemon peels, grapefruit, and herbal, earthy, piney hops are prevalent on the nose. The palate is filled with ripe peaches, lemon peels, tangerines, grapefruit, pineapple, caramel malts, and dank pine.

Bottom Line:

This is a light IPA, but it doesn’t taste anything like that. It’s a crushable, sessionable beer that will appeal to all IPA drinkers.

2.) Bell’s Light-Hearted

Bell’s Light-Hearted
Bell’s

ABV: 4%

Average Price: $10 for a six-pack

The Beer:

There are few low-ABV, sessionable IPAs better than Bell’s Light Hearted. This light version of the popular Bell’s Two Hearted is known for its mix of sweet malts, citrus fruits, and piney floral hops thanks to being brewed with Centennial and Galaxy hops as well as hand-selected specialty hops.

Tasting Notes:

Cracker-like malts, cereal grains, caramelized pineapple, lemon zest, grapefruit, and spicy floral hops lead the way on the nose. On the palate, you’ll find hints of cereal grains, honey, orange peel, lemon zest, grapefruit, and just a hint of bitter, floral, pine at the finish.

Bottom Line:

At only 4% ABV, it’s amazing how much flavor this IPA has. It’s a citrus IPA-lover’s dream. Especially a drinker looking for something slightly healthier.

1.) Half Acre Fader

Half Acre Fader
Half Acre

ABV: 5%

Average Price: $12 for a six-pack

The Beer:

If you take a look at the can, this beer is listed as a Chicago premium lager beer. This year-round offering is known for its clean, fresh, flavor. It’s brewed with a mix of Pilsner and Vienna malts. It gets its floral hop presence from the addition of Tradition, Tettnang, and Saaz hops. And it’s a sessionable 5% ABV.

Tasting Notes:

The nose is sweet corn, cereal grains, yeasty bread, citrus peels, and floral, noble hops. The palate continues this trend with lemon peels, honey, orange, freshly baked bread, cereal grains, sweet corn, and a nice finish of floral, herbal, piney noble hops. It’s a classic, crisp lager for all occasions.

Bottom Line:

If you’re only going to drink one beer on this list, make it Half Acre Fader. It’s half no-frills, sessionable light lager, and half classic German Helles lager. Above all things, it’s delicious.
