If you didn’t like an NFL Playoff game airing exclusively on Peacock this season, then there is good news and bad news: there won’t be one on Peacock next year. But there will reportedly be another Playoff game on a streaming-only platform — this time on Amazon’s Prime Video.
The Wall Street Journal’s Joe Flint reported Friday that Amazon edged out Peacock for the rights to next year’s Playoff game. It will be the first-ever NFL Playoff game on Amazon’s Prime Video, which has been streaming Thursday Night Football games since 2017. But those rights were digital-only and non-exclusive as the NFL still aired the game on network television. That changed starting this season after Prime won the exclusive rights to air Thursday Night Football in an 11-year deal.
Flint wrote that Amazon was reportedly offered the rights to this year’s Wild Card Playoff game instead of Peacock, but passed. Peacock wanted the game again next year but per Flint, Amazon exercised a clause in its Thursday Night Football contract that gave Prime Video first dibs.
There really isn’t a fair comparison of Prime Video to Peacock, considering the former has far more subscribers. But Peacock (under the NBC Universal umbrella) got the bang for its buck for the Playoff game, per Flint, who reported that a subscription analytics firm estimated 2.8 million new subscribers over a three-day period leading up to the Chiefs-Dolphins Wild Card game. The game on Peacock obliterated U.S. streaming records, averaging 23 million viewers.
Peacock costs less money per month to subscribe, but Prime Video at least simulcasted its Thursday Night Football games on the (Amazon-owned) free streaming platform Twitch. It’s unclear whether that will happen for the Playoff game, but it would certainly help as the only places the game is shown on network television is in the local markets for each team.
Tua Tagovailoa and Darius Rucker became the musical pairing we never knew we needed on Friday night as the Dolphins’ quarterback joined Rucker on stage to play guitar and sing Rucker’s hit “Wagon Wheel”.
Giants’ quarterback Daniel Jones cheered Tagovailoa and Rucker on excitedly as he sang (or lip-synced) along from the Las Vegas crowd.
Ok Vegas!
Tua Tagovailoa hopped on the guitar with Darius Rucker & Daniel Jones was in the house supporting pic.twitter.com/F5Eb5uFNHj
For Rucker, a longtime Miami Dolphins fan, to bring Tagavailoa on stage was not a surprise. Tagavailoa seemed to know what he was doing on the guitar and sounded just fine imploring the crowd to “rock me mama like the wind and the rain” along with Rucker.
Perhaps the only surprise was that he didn’t bring Tagavailoa up for a rendition of his hit with Hootie and the Blowfish, “I Only Want To Be With You” since its lyrics directly reference the Dolphins. Although maybe Rucker didn’t want the Dolphins’ star quarterback to have to sing about the Dolphins making him cry.
This isn’t Jones’ first time singing “Wagon Wheel”, either, even if it was just from the crowd this time.
Daniel Jones says he hasn’t been subjected to much rookie stuff so far. He did have to sing in front of team. He first tried Wagon Wheel (Darius Rucker) and laughs “that didn’t go over great, so I tried Buy You A Drank by T-Pain and got a little bit of a response.” #Giantspic.twitter.com/mA5EuOQSy6
There are two kinds of people in this world: those who love “Wagon Wheel” and those who hate it. Jones and Tagovailoa are clearly in the former camp, and Jones had the right idea in attempting Rucker’s sing-a-long hit before he attempted T-Pain.
There’s no denying rap fans are experiencing a colossal case of sampling fatigue. However, Nardo Wick’s latest single, “Somethin,” featuring Sexyy Red, has supporters willing to make an exception.
As the two rappers let go of their hardened exteriors to show their emotional vulnerability, Wick drew inspiration from long since forgotten viral sensation IceJJFish. As “Somethin’” starts, the record opens with the easily recognizable chorus of IceJJFish’s 2014 track “On The Floor.”
The video opens with IceJJFish’s singing, “It’s something about ya, girl / That just makes my head wanna twirl / You got me wantin’ to tell all them other girls / There’s nothing else better on this world / The moment I seen her.”
In the remainder of the video, Nardo Wick and Sexyy Red show that everyone needs love. “That lil’ sh*t got my head twirlin’, what she tryna do to me? / Real short shorts, I see the dimples in her booty meat / And she not no borin’ one, what she do excite me / Is you her lil’ whoopty-woo? Uh, b*tch, I might be,” raps Wick.
After realizing the sample, fans rushed to X (formerly Twitter) to point out the reference. View a few of their responses below.
Every vinyl collector’s favorite holiday is almost here. No, you can’t expect to be given the day off from work, but Record Store Day 2024 might be worth calling in sick if your wallet permits.
Over the last few months, several musicians, including Nicki Minaj, Green Day, Alicia Keys, and more. With several notable albums still slated to be released soon (coughs, Ariana Grande), Record Store Day 2024 is set to be another for the history books. So when is it exactly?
When Is Record Store Day 2024?
Record Store Day 2024 is set to take place on April 20. Today (February 10), the musical movement announced that the beloved and “freshly independent” band Paramore (also Uproxx cover stars) will serve as this year’s official ambassador.
In their Instagram post confirming the news, the “Misery Business” musicians stressed the importance of supporting independently owned and operated record stores.
“The discovery of music was always meant to be romantic,” they wrote. “Indie record shops are some of the only spaces we’ve got that offer a tangible, tactile experience of music discovery. In this world that feels more disconnected and hostile than ever, it feels important to remain in touch (literally) with what inspires us, empowers us, or simply brings us joy.”
The Record Store Day 2024 release list has not yet been shared, but it should be soon. Find more information here.
Some artists covered here are Warner Music artists. Uproxx is an independent subsidiary of Warner Music Group.
Despite its many delays, Kanye West and Ty Dolla Sign’s joint album, Vultures, has finally dropped. Unfortunately, not everyone is excited by its release. Today (February 10), in an Instagram Story, Donna Summer’s estate voiced their anger over West’s use of the late singer’s music.
“Kanye West asked permission to use Donna Summer’s song ‘I Feel Love,’ [and] he was denied,” they wrote. “He changed the word, [then] had someone re-sign it or used AI. But it’s ‘I Feel Love.’ Copyright infringement!”
They then went on to tag West, his collaborator Ty Dolla Sign, and even Sharon Osbourne. Why Sharon Osbourne? Well, for those keeping count, this marks the third musician (or their family) to come out to explicitly state that they did not clear West’s use of their work.
On February 9, Ozzy Osbourne took to X (formerly Twitter) to slam West for his alleged unauthorized use of his song “War Pigs.” But the post has since been deleted.
Backstreet Boys are also rumored to have pushed back against West’s use of their 1997 hit, “Everybody (Backstreet’s Back).”
Even Nicki Minaj has refused to clear her previously recorded verse for his previously leaked song, “New Body.”
Could Kanye West and Ty Dolla Sign’s album lead them to a lengthy legal battle? Fans will have to stay tuned.
Last week Tucker Carlson dropped his biggest interview yet — yes, bigger than Catturd. (Or this guy.) The former Fox News star scored a sit down with Vladimir Putin. It didn’t go as great as Carlson had wanted. At one point the Russian president even mocked him to his face. Nor did Tucker produce any real major insights into his guest, who hasn’t granted interviews with other, more serious journalists. As it happens, the chat caused one of those, Chris Wallace — a former Fox News colleague, and one who didn’t always approve of him — to let him have it.
“Tucker Carlson showed up in Moscow to interview Vladimir Putin. It turned out to be anything but an interview,” Wallace said on CNN Saturday, per Mediaite. “Putin droned on for two hours and seven minutes while Tucker sat there like an eager puppy. Occasionally, but rarely, he got in a question.
“But more telling than what Tucker asked is what he didn’t ask,” Wallace continued. “Nothing about why Putin invaded a sovereign country, nothing about targeting civilians, nothing about Russian war crimes. A reporter can ask Putin a tough question if he wants a real interview.”
Wallace said that asking Putin tough questions was never on his agenda anyway. He then went in for the kill:
“During the Cold War, gullible Westerners who spread Soviet propaganda were dismissed as ‘useful idiots.’ But calling Tucker that is unfair to useful idiots. He’s made a cynical decision to chase MAGA’s affection for dictators, and what better way to cash in than Putin’s Kremlin.
Wallace accused Carlson of “basically broadcasting fascist propaganda to credulous people in the West who are eager to buy into the mythology of Putin as a champion of the Nordic races against their enemies, and as an enemy of wokeness.” He then called the interview “one of the most disgraceful — to call it a journalistic performance is wrong because he’s not a journalist. I don’t even think it was a performance. It was just simply being a scribe to one of the most vicious dictators of our time.”
Just because Wallace and Tucker once worked together doesn’t mean they’re buds. Last year, during a sit down with Donald Trump, Carlson called Wallace a “bitchy little man.”

Several musicians including Nicki Minaj, Backstreet Boys, Ozzy Osbourne, and the estate of Donna Summer have refused to give the okay of either their verses or sample usage. These decisions could have certainly contributed to the album’s multiple delays. In spite of the setbacks, the duo managed to drop Vultures. But not everyone can listen to the new album.
Is Kanye West & Ty Dolla Sign’s Vultures Available On Spotify?
On February 9, the musicians surprised fans when the highly anticipated album was shared on streaming platforms. However, not even a day later, users began to report that Vultures could no longer be accessed. However, according to Variety, that temporary technical flub didn’t last long. A source close to the musicians told the outlet that the wrong version of the project was imported into streaming services but was quickly updated.
So, is Kanye West and Ty Dolla Sign’s collaborative album, Vultures, available on Spotify? The simple answer is no, at least not yet. As of February 10, Vultures, is available on Apple Music and Tidal.

Republicans have so many enemies these days, but one of them is a more formidable threat than most: Taylor Swift. Why would a political party even think about attacking arguably the most popular musician in America? Who knows, and yet there some of them are, hatching tinfoil hat conspiracies about how Swift, the “deep state,” and the NFL are conspiring to get Joe Biden re-elected. They might want to take some advice from someone who’s not exactly on their side but who at least shares some of their affinities: fellow anti-woke crusader Bill Maher.
Bill Maher noticed something about Taylor Swift that I hadn’t heard mentioned: “This is a white girl from Pennsylvania. Grew up on a farm. Never had a black boyfriend. Just saying. She’s had a lot of boyfriends we’ve all known about. If MAGA’s full of racists they’ve gotta like… pic.twitter.com/FU2iL1cWQ6
“This is a national news story in the sense that, this is a person that could literally swing the election,” Maher told the crowd on Real Time Friday night, per The Daily Beast. “I don’t know what that says about this country, but, I would just say to the MAGA people, you should be very careful attacking her because this is someone who transcends parties.”
Maher went on to explain why she appeals to both left and right.
“I mean this is a country girl, right? Her first, she started out as a country artist,” he explained. “[Swift] is a white girl from Pennsylvania, I think, grew up on a farm, right?”
As is his wont, Maher went on a strange tangent about race. “Never had a black boyfriend! I’m just saying,” he said. “She’s just had a lot of boyfriends that we all know about, you know? If MAGA’s full of racists they gotta like that! I mean, she’s finally dated an NFL [player], it’s 80 percent Black, she couldn’t find one there?”
Anyway. He went on: “Trump’s people are already registered and voting for him. Her voters, perhaps, are not registered at all. She doesn’t have to say who she’s voting for, all she has to say is get registered. They know who she’s voting for.”
She’s not changing minds, it’s turn-out,” guest Bob Costas chimed in.
Maher concluded nby saying, “So, I think you could be awaking a sleeping — until the afternoon — giant, here.”
On Sunday Swift is set to attend the Super Bowl, where her boyfriend, Kansas City Chief’s player Travis Kelce, is playing. She also supported Biden in the 2020 election, in opposition of his opponent, Donald Trump. Looks like we’re getting a rehash of that this November, and there’s no reason to believe Swift has come around on a guy whose policies — and brain — have only gotten worse.
According to The Daily News, on Wednesday, February 7, Declyn ‘Dex’ Lauper, son of “Girls Just Want to Have Fun” singer Cyndi Lauper, was allegedly arrested and charged with two counts of criminal possession of a firearm. The detainment was reportedly in connection to a shooting that took place in New York City’s upper neighborhood of Harlem. Dex was reportedly taken into custody by authorities shortly after the alleged incident on W. 112th St. near Adam Clayton Powell Jr. Blvd.
However, by Friday, February 9, Dex had been freed on bail when his father, Law And Orderactor David Thornton, posted the $20,000 fee. The alleged victim was a 24-year-old man who suffered a gunshot wound to the leg. He was supposedly taken to Mount Sinai Morningside Hospital for treatment and is in stable condition.
This isn’t the aspiring rapper’s first encounter with New York City police. The Daily News also reported that in July 2022, Dex was charged with unauthorized use of a vehicle after being spotted sitting in a car that was reported stolen.
The Lauper family has not issued a statement regarding Dex’s arrest. At this time no further information has been shared by the New York City police department concerning the case.
