Wednesday’s flurry of pre-deadline trade activity involving veteran role players continued as the Pistons got involved with their second trade of the day, this time sending veteran point guard Monte Morris to Minnesota, per Shams Charania of The Athletic. In exchange, the Pistons will bring back Shake Milton, Troy Brown Jr. and a second round pick.
Timberwolves are sending Shake Milton, Troy Brown Jr. and one second-round pick to Detroit for Monte Morris, sources said. https://t.co/sb12v2N1gk
Morris just recently returned to the court for the Pistons after missing the first half of the season with a quad injury. He’s played in six games for Detroit, averaging 4.5 points in 11.3 minutes of action as he ramps back up to playing speed. The Timberwolves will be banking on Morris returning to the productivity he showed in Washington and Denver, where he established himself as a steady-handed backup point guard with a reliable three-point shot.
If he returns to that level with the Wolves, they will have bolstered their point guard rotation with some veteran depth (with playoff experience) behind Mike Conley. Milton and Brown were picked up by the Wolves this offseason to provide some backcourt depth, but never fully cracked Chris Finch’s rotation as key contributors. By sending both out to bring in Morris, Minnesota will hope they can consolidate some talent into a player they’ll trust with postseason minutes as they look to make a deep run in the West this year.
Detroit, meanwhile, gets another second round pick back for a veteran on the roster and adds another couple of younger players with floor-spacing upside.
It’s been almost eight years since The Rock wrestled a match, but all signs point to The Great One fulfilling plans from last year and gracing the ring once again at WrestleMania 40.
While The Rock is the name snatching headlines and we wait for further clarity at Thursday’s press conference on what exactly is going to happen at WrestleMania, the WWE World Heavyweight Champion turned a bit of the spotlight back on himself during an appearance on NFL Network’s Good Morning Football.
“We don’t need ya, we’d love to have ya but we don’t need ya big guy.”
— World Champion Seth Rollins on The Rock#WrestleMania
“Hey look man, if The Rock wants to jump on the bandwagon, ride my coattails into WrestleMania, that’s totally fine with me, man. That’s fine with me. Look, I get it; WWE is as hot as it’s ever been. We are selling out arenas, stadiums, any place we go is huge. We just inked two massive deals, SmackDown to USA Network and RAW — my show, which I’ve been anchoring for the last decade — just signed the most lucrative television deal in the history — in the history — of professional wrestling with Netflix, which is going to be a game changer starting next year,” Rollins said. (H/T Wrestlezone)
“So we are living life right now, we are huge. And for The Rock to want to come on board now, jump on my Wrestlemania, get his toes wet? I get it, I get it. So mad respect to him and everything he’s done outside of here and everything he’s done in our industry. So I’ve got no problem with The Rock jumping on and doing his business for us. We appreciate having him. But like I said, he’s riding my coattails, he just needs to remember that.”
Rollins is right, the product is red hot and WWE has been selling out arenas left and right. Even before The Rock showed up on Friday Night Smackdown, WrestleMania was moving toward a sell out.
The reaction to both Rhodes’ potential WrestleMania plans being derailed and The Rock’s return, however, has certainly moved the needle in a way WWE hasn’t felt in a long time.

The phrase “six seasons and a movie” was first uttered by Abed on Community in 2011. It became a rallying cry among fans (Human Beings) of creator Dan Harmon’s little-watched, but much-beloved sitcom, and finally, 13 years later, the prophecy is coming true. Community already has its six seasons (shout out to the underrated Yahoo! Screen episodes). Now it’s getting a movie.
Dean dong, it’s time to find out everything we know about the streets ahead Community movie, including plot details, returning cast members, and when it’s coming out. It won’t be the Britta of movies.
Plot
The only hint of a plot we got when the Community movie was officially announced in September 2022 is that the film will “check in on what the gang from Greendale has been up to since the show ended in 2015.” Dan Harmon later teased that “I don’t think it’s too much of a spoiler to say that the story would involve the gang getting back together,” but we finally have our first details on the premise.
Glover revealed to the Hollywood Reporter that “it’s a college reunion, but Abed is like this big director now, and basically this is his magnum opus.” His reaction when Harmon told him the plot: “This sounds f*cking tight.”
Cast
Before Dan Harmon and Andrew Guest (who penned series highlight “Advanced Dungeons & Dragons”) started working on the script, they needed to know who would be too busy to return to Greendale. “It became a very lengthy process because we wanted to include as much of the cast that wanted to be included and therefore needed to know who was interested before we knew what the movie was going to be,” Guest told the Hollywood Reporter. Much to their surprise, everyone in the main cast — Joel McHale (Jeff), Gillian Jacobs (Britta), Danny Pudi (Abed), Yvette Nicole Brown (Shirley), Alison Brie (Annie), Donald Glover (Troy), Ken Jeong (Chang), and Jim Rash (Dean Pelton) — will be back.
The actors who haven’t been confirmed for a cameo include Brie Larson (Rachel), John Oliver (Dr. Ian Duncan), Jonathan Banks (Professor Buzz Hickey), Paget Brewster (Frankie Dart), and Keith David (Elroy Patashnik), as well as recurring weirdos Dino Stamatopoulos (Star-Burns), Erik Charles Nielsen (Garrett) and Charley Koontz (“Fat Neil”). Sadly, Richard Erdman, who played frozen food reviewer Leonard, passed away in 2019.
Is it too much to ask for a Magnitude cameo? Pop pop!
Release Date
The Community movie was supposed to start filming in June 2023, but then the strikes happened. Joel McHale told Screenrant he’s hopeful that filming begins in summer 2024 “with probably a holiday release,” he guessed. “Yeah, it’s a quick turnaround, but I believe that it can happen.
Trailer
There’s no trailer. Instead, here’s a scene from the best episode of the show.
As this year’s Oscars ceremony approaches, the big question on everyone’s mind is will Ryan Gosling take the stage to belt out a crowd-stirring rendition of “I’m Just Ken” from Barbie? Gosling picked up a Best Supporting Actor nom for his role as Barbie’s most popular accessory, so it seems like a no-brainer to get him to perform the wildly popular musical number. Unfortunately, there’s been no definitive word on Gosling’s or the Academy’s plans.
In a new cover story for Variety, Gosling offers the closest thing yet to a status update after remaining mum on the topic.
“I still have not been asked,” Gosling said. “It might be too much of a risk to have me do it. I don’t know how that would work. But I’m open to it.”
However, there is a powerful force working behind the scenes to get Gosling to perform the song live in front of a crowd full of his Hollywood peers. That force: Barbie herself Margot Robbie.
He squints, in the middle of another brainstorm, as he tries to put himself back in Ken’s shoes, this time singing the song on a huge Hollywood stage. (“Don’t worry,” says Robbie on the subject, “we’re poking Ryan whenever we can: ‘Do it. Come on. It’ll be fun.’’’)
Gosling asks me how I’d like to see the song performed, and I tell him it can’t be scaled down for the Oscars: Fans of the movie will want to see “I’m Just Ken” as an extravaganza.
“It can’t be pared down?” Gosling says, nodding. “OK. It’s anthemic. So we’ll need a budget.”
Robbie, who’s been remarkably gracious about not picking up a Best Actress nom for the film, seems hell-bent on getting Gosling on that stage so Barbie fans can see the film being celebrated.
“I would love nothing more,” she told Variety. “That would make me — and the world — so happy.”
Of course, getting scared means different things to different people. For instance, Race Through New York Starring Jimmy Fallon might not seem intimidating at first glance, until you see there’s a 50-minute wait to watch Jimmy Fallon dance in tight pants. Haunting! But generally speaking, I’m defining “scary” as rides that will make you scream with delight. I’m also only focusing on Universal Studios Hollywood and Universal Studios Florida.
There are two divisions: non-roller coasters, which include dark rides, drop rides, and water rides; and roller coasters based on other people’s experiences (again: a coaster wimp here) and how terrifying they are for me to look at.
CATEGORY: Non-Roller Coaster
It’s tempting to pick drop tower Doctor Doom’s Fearfall, but no ride that involves “fear juice” (as immortalized in an episode of Podcast: The Ride) can be considered the scariest. Instead, I’m going with an unlikely choice: Dudley Do-Right’s Ripsaw Falls.
How can a ride based on an animated Canadian Mountie be scary, you might be wondering. For one thing, most of the scariest Universal rides are coasters, and this is the non-coaster category. But Dudley Do-Right’s Ripsaw Falls has a steep drop at the end that made me close my eyes and let out a yell that could be heard all the way in Hogwarts (Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey, with its dips and turns through the castle, is another worthy non-coaster contender).
You know what you’re getting immediately with Doctor Doom’s Fearfall. On Dudley, it’s the anticipation that the scary part isn’t coming until the end that will get your pulse pounding. Jurassic Park: The Ride technically has a steeper drop, but Dudley Do-Right’s Ripsaw Falls feels more intense and without a cool dinosaur to distract you.
Last note: You will get soaked.
Winner:
Dudley Do-Right’s Ripsaw Falls
CATEGORY: Roller Coaster
This is a two-way race between two Florida-based coasters: The Incredible Hulk Coaster in Islands of Adventure, which opened in 1999, and Jurassic World VelociCoaster, which is also located in Islands of Adventure but it’s a newcomer with a 2021 debut.
Let’s start with Hulk. The word “intense” is used a lot when describing the ride, and occasionally “discombobulating.” It’s not as smooth as many modern-day coasters. Still, it’s a huge favorite: The Incredible Hulk Coaster is rated a solid 7.9 out of 10 on All Ears (for comparison, The Amazing Adventures of Spider-Man, one of the best dark rides ever, has an 8.1).
As for VelociCoaster, well, just look at this beast.
I wouldn’t step near that thing, so I’ll have to take The Park Prodigy’s word for it when they call VelociCoaster “without a doubt, the most intense ride at Universal Orlando.” But if you can handle the four inversions, 140-foot drop at an 80-degree angle, and speeds up to 70 MPH, it’s a ride you can’t miss. VelociCoaster is widely considered to be the best roller coaster in the world.
At the moment, Usher is missing. At least, that’s the case in a fictional new teaser for his Super Bowl Halftime Show performance this weekend. Presumably, he’ll turn up between now and when it comes time for the big day. When Usher does take the field, here’s how to watch.
How To Watch Usher’s Super Bowl Halftime Show
The Super Bowl, and therefore Usher’s halftime performance, goes down on Sunday, February 11 at 6:30 p.m. ET/3:30 p.m. PT. The most immediately obvious way to watch is on TV, as CBS will be broadcasting the game. Nickelodeon will have its own special broadcast of the game, too.
For those who don’t have cable, though, the game will be streaming on Paramount+. The service currently offers a one-week free trial by signing up here, so you can sign up and watch the game before any payments are taken from your account. If you don’t envision yourself wanting to hang onto Paramount+ after this weekend, there’s also the option to just cancel the trial once the game is over, if you’d like. (There are some great shows and movies on there, though.)
As for how to watch after the game, the halftime shows are usually made available online. Rihanna’s 2023 performance, for example, was shared on YouTube not long after it happened. In fact, you can still watch it here.
Following the passing of beloved actor Andre Braugher, his upcoming role in the new Shonda Rhimes series, The Residence, will go to his friend Giancarlo Esposito. The two men actually go way back to their early acting days on Homicide: Life on the Street. Esposito came aboard the series following Braugher’s exit, but the two had a chance to work together in a follow-up movie.
“I couldn’t be prouder and more honored to be stepping into Shondaland’s The Residence for someone that I loved and respected and cherished in Andre Braugher,” Esposito said in a statement to Deadline. “To be afforded the opportunity to create in his honor with this incredible team extends the depth and breadth of his legacy through all of us who loved him so dearly.”
As for the details of the show, here’s the official synopsis for the Netflix series that’s based on the Kate Andersen Brower book The Residence: Inside the Private World of the White House:
132 rooms. 157 suspects. One dead body. One wildly eccentric detective. One disastrous state dinner. The Residence is a screwball whodunit set in the upstairs, downstairs, and backstairs of the White House, among the eclectic staff of the world’s most famous mansion.
As for a release date, that’s a bit tricky. According to Deadline, The Residence had already shot four of its eight episodes before the writers and actors strike. Production was supposed to resume on December 12 with Braugher, but plans obviously changed in that regard.
Now with Esposito onboard, Braugher’s scenes will need to be reshot, which will add considerably more time to the production schedule.
Welcome to SNX DLX, your weekly roundup of the best sneakers to hit the internet. We’re just one shoe shy of having a full list of ten this week and Nike wins again, snagging seven spots, two of which are brand-new silhouettes. But good news for non-Nike fans, we’re happy to say New Balance and Adidas are back on the map (still nothing worthwhile in 2024 from Reebok, Puma, or Asics though). But here’s the real kicker — while this is a strong week full of great drops, there is a single release that is sucking all the oxygen out of the room.
The Kobe 8 Protro Numbers. This is going to be the pair that sneakerheads froth at the mouth over. The return of Kobe signatures at Nike is a big deal but, with that said, the Protro line has a very distinct design language and that’s not going to be everyone’s thing. Of course, if you want to cop one of the other great pairs of sneakers dropping this week, you’re sure to have less competition.
We’ve got a lot to cover this week so let’s stop yapping and just dive into the best sneakers of the week.
The Vomero 5 is synonymous with crazy loud colorways, so we’re digging this more subdued Light Orewood Brown rendition. All the typical Vomero 5 features are here, you’ve got that textile upper, the leather accents, the pieces of plastic, but instead of a colorway that overuses primary colors to the point the shoes look like Legos, what we get here are nice shades of creamy shades of white (they almost look pink at certain angles) with a contrasting gum sole.
The sneaker is a women’s exclusive but dops out at size 13 men’s. The Nike Women’s Zoom Vomero 5 Light Orewood Brown is set to drop on February 7th at 7:00 AM PST for a retail price of $160. Pick up a pair via the Nike SNKRS app.
The KD4 is back with a new rendition of the Year of the Dragon colorway, appropriately dubbed, “Year of the Dragon 2.0.” The sneaker features a khaki colorway with a graphic wood grain strap, a dragon motif at the heel, and a custom charm. The sneaker is dipped mostly in earthy tones but a nice Noble Red Swoosh adds some contrast.
In addition to the custom charm, the Dragon 2.0 will ship with a golden sneaker bag. We’re loving the regal treatment the KD4 is getting.
The Nike KD4 Year of the Dragon 2.0 is set to drop on February 7th at 7:00 AM PST for a retail price of $150. Pick up a pair via the Nike SNKRS app.
Here it is, the Kobe 8 Protro Numbers — a sneaker that celebrates the lives of Kobe and Gianna Bryant, adorned with the numbers 8, 24, and 2 (jersey numbers worn by Kobe and Gianna) across a white mesh upper. The sneaker is available in two colorways, Aqua, and Court Purple.
Other than the color palette swap, the two designs are identical keeping things simple with a three-color motif: the white base, the colored numbers, and a black arch at the midfoot. Get ready folks, 2024 is going to be all about the Kobe Protro and we’re psyched to see what else Nike and Vanessa Bryant have in store.
The Nike Kobe 8 Protro Aqua/Court Purple is set to drop on February 8th at 7:00 AM PST for a retail price of $190. Pick up a pair via the Nike SNKRS app.
New Balance Made in USA Spring Summer 2024 Seasonal Collection
This week we have nine picks, a perfect list in our book is ten, but considering this Seasonal Collection from New Balance consists of four different shoes, you can say this list has 12 picks. That’s an SNX first!
The reason we’re lumping all of these sneakers together is that they all share the same grey and black colorway and they’re all from New Balance’s Made in USA line. The full line consists of a 990 v4 and v6, a 996, and a 998. That’s four of New Balance’s best silhouettes in an attractive colorway that will contrast nicely with your upcoming spring and summer fits.
The New Balance Made in USA Spring/Summer 2024 collection is set to drop on February 8th at 7:00 AM PST for a retail range of $199.99-$219.99. Pick up a pair of the 990 (v4/v6), 996, and 998 at the New Balance webstore.
This two-pack SB Dunk collection from Nike isn’t explicitly a Valentine’s Day-themed sneaker, but considering it takes Paris as inspiration, aka The City Of Love, we’re going to go ahead and consider it one. The City Of Love pack consists of two monochromatic colorways, one in Burgundy, and the other in Coconut Milk.
Both sneakers feature the same leather build with a cracked Swoosh and insole illustrations that look a bit Claude Monet-inspired. Of the two colorways we lean more towards the Coconut Milk because of the red thread running across the midsole. That little detail is a nice touch.
The Nike SB Dunk Low Burgundy Crush/Coconut Milk is set to drop on February 9th at 7:00 AM PST for a retail price of $125. Pick up a pair via the Nike SNKRS app.
It’s a rare week when a Jordan this dope drops and it isn’t the biggest draw of the week. For those not feeling the look of the Kobe Protro Numbers and want something a bit more classic, there is the Jordan 13 Blue Grey.
This take on the 13 features a premium white tumbled leather upper with hits of Blue Grey synthetic suede, and Yellow Ochre branding to wrap things up. It’s a great colorway, not much else to say here! Any other week and this would be the star, no question.
The Nike Air Jordan 13 Blue Grey is set to drop on February 10th at 7:00 AM PST for a retail price of $200. Pick up a pair via the Nike SNKRS app.
BAPE and Adidas are going sustainable! This take on the legendary Stan Smith is a celebration of BAPE’s 30th anniversary (which they’ve been celebrating for over a year now, just saying) and is made using 20% recycled materials.
The design features BAPE’s iconic camo pattern across the entire upper with gold foil branding and a special lace charm. It’s a great sneaker and a great colorway, what more can you want? If you’re a BAPE fan this is a no-brainer.
The Adidas Stan Smith x BAPE is set to drop on February 10th at 6:00 AM PST for a retail price of $160. Pick up a pair via the Adidas CONFIRMED app.
The Flyknit Venture takes its inspiration from the biggest influence taking over the sneaker world right now — hiking boots. This sneaker is going full utilitarian, it has a tight weaved lacing system, a weather-resistant midsole, a big traction heavy outsole, and a thick upper that’ll keep you supported and secure.
It’s made to stand up to the abuse you’d encounter on the trail but has all the sleek design language that works on the streets. No complaints here, this is a great shoe and we can’t wait until it gets a full-size run.
The Nike Women’s Air Max Flyknit Venture Black is set to drop on February 10th at 7:00 AM PST for a retail price of $180. Pick up a pair via the Nike SNKRS app.
If you like the design of the Venture but it’s just a bit too utilitarian for you, then you’ll probably like the Haven, a more cozy take on the trail-inspired design. But this design is less “out in the woods,” and more, “chilling in the cabin.” The sneaker features a soft Flyknit upper with an adjustable and collapsible collar, a slip-on design, and a chunky outsole that makes it clear that these shoes are shoes, and not, you know, slippers.
I don’t think it’s as groundbreaking as the Haven, but I think overall Nike is two-for-two with these brand-new silhouettes.
The Nike Women’s Flyknit Venture Haven Velvet Brown/Bronzine is set to drop on February 10th at 7:00 AM PST for a retail price of $120. Pick up a pair via the Nike SNKRS app.
Over the weekend, Taylor Swift announced her new album The Tortured Poets Department, while she was accepting the award for Best Pop Vocal Album at the 2024 Grammys. Since then, she has released the album’s tracklist, which is set to drop on April 19. And it wouldn’t be a Swift release without any fan speculation.
Is Taylor Swift’s The Tortured Poets Department A Part Of A Trilogy?
One of the new theories is that it will actually be the first of a trilogy. A Twitter Swiftie started a thread today, where the evidence was presented. In it, a tweet from Taylor Nation was referenced, which had the question “How many secretsss do we think are hiding in that hair?” used as the caption. With the three S’s, this could be an easter egg for three albums. Or something totally different.
The user also pointed out the error message that appeared on Swift’s website, just hours before Tortured Poets Department was announced. Part of it read “DPT: 321” — the first half of which is the album title’s abbreviation in reverse. If it is a trilogy, that could explain the second half.
Taylor’s website shut downs with fake error messages and coding. People guess “red herring” not really sure what it means and no one knows what DPT: 321 means (DPT later gets solved as Tortured Poets Department) but the 321 is overlooked just like “secretSSS” was pic.twitter.com/1ayfH7C8zH
Finally, Swift has also been using a ton of threes in her posts — whether she’s holding it up with her fingers, or adding three of the same punctuation.
Could the Trilogy be three editions or albums on the topic of Love??? Is Manifest another edition?? I notice that the track “florida!!!” is similar to a post from @taylorswift13 about the Tampa, Florida Eras Tour show. Again, the THREE exclamation marks pic.twitter.com/LHEyGHhcdX
