The ‘Beetlejuice Beetlejuice’ Trailer Is Getting Wild Reactions Thanks To ‘The Juice Is Loose’

Beetlejuice 2 Michael Keaton
Warner Bros

The first trailer for Beetlejuice Beetlejuice is loose, and fans of the classic 1988 film starring Michael Keaton as the raunchy poltergeist are freaking out on social media. Once again, Tim Burton is back in the director’s seat for the highly anticipated sequel that also brings back original cast members Winona Ryder and Catherine O’Hara. Wednesday star Jenna Ortega is also along for the ride.

While the first trailer doesn’t reveal too much of the plot, it does lampoon the trend of doing slow-motion covers of classic songs. In this case, “Day O” by Harry Belafonte, which was featured prominently in the original film. Burton took the gag even farther by having a literal children’s choir sing the tune in the trailer, and Beetlejuice fans are here for it.

“The Juice is Loose” tagline also prompted some O.J. Simpson jokes, and of course, Lauren Boebert is practically stuck to the character now thanks to her recent hijinks.

You can see some of the Beetlejuice Beetlejuice reactions below:

Here’s the official synopsis:

Beetlejuice is back! After an unexpected family tragedy, three generations of the Deetz family return home to Winter River. Still haunted by Beetlejuice, Lydia’s life is turned upside down when her rebellious teenage daughter, Astrid, discovers the mysterious model of the town in the attic and the portal to the Afterlife is accidentally opened. With trouble brewing in both realms, it’s only a matter of time until someone says Beetlejuice’s name three times and the mischievous demon returns to unleash his very own brand of mayhem.

Beetlejuice Beetlejuice gets loose in theaters on September 6.

Olivia Rodrigo’s ‘So American’ From ‘Guts (Spilled)’ Is The Dewy-Eyed Love Song She Was Always Meant To Make

From “All-American B*tch” to “So American,” Olivia Rodridgo’s usage of patriotic symbolism is quite extreme. But, hey, so is puppy love. The latest single from her Guts (Spilled) project feels like the first gentle offering fans have gotten from the singer in a while.

Even at the present moment, Rodrigo’s Guts World Tour (read Uproxx’s own Philip Cosores’ full review here) is centered around her past prickly encounters with love. But on the Dan Nigro-produced track, it seems that the unlucky streak is over. On “So American,” perhaps inspired by Rodrigo’s rumored relationship with Louis Partridge, is the dewy-eyed love song she was always meant to make.

“And he laughs at all my jokes / And he says I’m so American / Oh God, it’s just not fair of him / To make me feel this much / I’d go anywhere he goes / And he says I’m so American / Oh God, I’m gonna marry him / If he keeps this sh*t up / I might just be in lo-love,” sings Rodrigo.

The now 21-year-old pop star can legally grab a drink, but based on this track, it is clear she’s only interested in being drunk in love.

Larry David Is Not A Fan Of March Madness Brackets: ‘This Is Insane!’

Larry David probably doesn’t care about your fantasy football team or hearing about your dreams. And he definitely doesn’t care about your March Madness bracket.

The Curb Your Enthusiasm creator dropped by The Rich Eisen Show on Thursday where he discussed the NCAA Tournament. “You know what, can I make an admission here?” he said, according to the New York Post. “This tournament, how much can I follow in sports? I’m supposed to know who’s on Drake? I mean, this is crazy. Crazy! Valparaiso? I know names on Valparaiso? This is insane! I don’t know anything. Maybe I’ll watch the semifinal, but that’s it. What can I do? I’ve got the Rangers, I’ve got the Knicks; I can’t follow all these teams. How do people do it? How do they do it?”

At least you don’t have the Mets, Larry. Believe me.

This year’s March madness had a little Seinfeld flare thanks to Long Beach State firing head coach Dan Monson to “inspire” players before being knocked out of the tournament on Thursday by Arizona. Eisen compared coaching Long Beach State in the NCAA Tournament after his termination by the school’s athletic director to a real-life Seinfeld episode. It took a few moments for David to fully comprehend the situation, and he compared it to the time that David quit SNL and tried to go back the next day like nothing ever happened.

“I quit,” David explained. “And then I came back on Monday morning and pretended it never happened. That was my neighbor Kramer’s [idea], the real Kramer. You know what? I thought it could work. I thought it was a great idea. I thought I had nothing to lose.” Here’s the clip:

You can watch Larry’s full interview above.

Indiecast Reviews New Albums By Waxahatchee, Adrianne Lenker And Rosali

Waxahatchee Press Image 2024
Molly Matalon

Steven and Ian begin this week’s episode with a very non-indie rock topic — the story about Bruno Mars owing $50 million to a Las Vegas casino. They shoehorn a brief Sportscast about the emerging gambling scandal involving Shohei Ohtani, lamenting the bad side effects of gambling while also hoping to get some gambling sponsorships for the Fantasy Albums Draft. Speaking of which: Ian is killing Steven once again in the Fantasy Albums Draft, and Steven is thinking about firing his general manager (i.e. himself).

Next the guys review the new album by Waxahatchee, Tigers Blood, which Steven likes more than Ian. They also talk about two other big singer-songwriter albums out today, Bright Future by Adrianne Lenker and Bite Down by Rosali. In the mailbag, a listener asks whether Steven’s neighbors like his patio music, and then another listener asks about Indiecast’s favorite albums to play on airplanes.

In Recommendation Corner, Ian talks about the new album from Bedbug while Steven recommends the comeback record from Restorations and a new archival concert release from Bruce Springsteen.

Millie Bobby Brown’s Wedding To Bon Jovi’s Son Is Being Officiated By One Of Her ‘Stranger Things’ Co-Stars

Millie Bobby Brown is getting married to Bon Jovi’s son, Jake Bongiovi. But we already knew that. What we didn’t know, however, is that the wedding will be officiated by one of her Stranger Things co-stars.

“I have one of those licenses to get people married,” actor Matthew Modine, who plays Dr. Brenner (a.k.a. “Papa”) on the Netflix series, told Access Daily, “and Millie thought it’d be great, and then Jake said it would be a great idea, so I wrote the wedding vows and they loved what I wrote for them to join hands and to become husband and wife.” He added, “It’s such a beautiful thing to be able to join two people in holy matrimony.”

Bobby Brown previously revealed how Bongiovi proposed to her. “Jake and I bonded over diving. We love diving. We got our diving licenses together. And one day, we were out on vacation, and he was like, ‘Mill, you’ve got to be up at 8 a.m., we’re going on a dive.’ I was like, 8 a.m.? Dive?” she said on The Tonight Show earlier this year. “We go under, and we’re like many meters down… He gives me a shell, and I turn it over and it’s a ring.”

During the “speak now or forever” part of the wedding, someone should stand up and object to the nuptials — unless the fifth and final season of Stranger Things comes out now. Millie has the power to speed things up, I know it.

What Did Kendrick Lamar Say About Drake And J. Cole On Future And Metro Boomin’s New Album?

Future and Metro Boomin have one of the week’s big releases with their new joint album, We Don’t Trust You. Since it was released hours ago, all eyes have been fixed on the song “Like That,” which is notable for Kendrick Lamar’s verse. On the track, the rapper all but directly calls out two other MC contemporaries by name: Drake and J. Cole.

What Did Kendrick Lamar Say About Drake And J. Cole On Future And Metro Boomin’s New Album?

Mid-way through his verse, Lamar raps, “F*ck sneak dissin’, first person shooter, I hope they came with three switches,” an apparent reference to Drake and Cole’s 2023 song “First Person Shooter.” Later, Kendrick says, “Motherf*ck the big three, n****, it’s just big me.” That seems to be another “First Person Shooter” reference, specifically to the Cole line, “Love when they argue the hardest MC / Is it K-Dot? Is it Aubrey? Or me? / We the big three like we started a league, but right now, I feel like Muhammad Ali.”

So far, neither Drake nor Cole have shared any sort of public response to the song.

We Don’t Trust You is out now via Epic Records/Boominati Worldwide/Republic Records. Find more information here.

Joni Mitchell’s Music Is Back On Spotify Shortly After Neil Young’s Joe Rogan-Fueled Boycott Ended

In early 2022, Neil Young removed his music from Spotify, in protest of the streaming service being the exclusive home of The Joe Rogan Experience. Recently, though, the exclusivity came to an end and Rogan’s often-controversial podcast is now available on other platforms. So, last week, Young revealed he had decided to put his music on Spotify again.

Joni Mitchell, who had previously also de-Spotify’d her catalog in solidarity with Young, has put her music back on the platform as well. Mitchell has yet to publicly comment on the decision, but indeed, her classic releases can currently be streamed on Spotify once again.

Young explained his return, “My decision comes as music services Apple and Amazon have started serving the same disinformation podcast features I had opposed at SPOTIFY. I cannot just leave Apple and Amazon, like I did Spotify, because my music would have very little streaming outlet to music lovers at all, so I have returned to Spotify, in sincere hopes that Spotify sound quality will improve and people will be able to hear and feel all the music as we made it.”

Neil Young is a Warner Music artist. Uproxx is an independent subsidiary of Warner Music Group.

Did Kendrick Lamar Diss Drake And J. Cole On Future & Metro Boomin’s New Album?

Heading into this week’s new releases, anticipation was sky-high for the Future and Metro Boomin joint album, We Don’t Trust You. Now that it’s out, one track in particular is getting a lot of attention: “Like That,” which features a surprise cameo from none other than Kendrick Lamar. Over interpolations of Rodney O & Joe Cooley’s and Eazy-E’s “Eazy-Duz-It” (a clever callback to Kendrick’s Compton roots), the track finds Future and Kendrick exchanging aggressive verses, but Kendrick’s has flabbergasted fans wondering if he’s taking shots at the two other members of the so-called “Big Three,” Drake and J. Cole.

Did Kendrick Lamar Diss Drake And J. Cole On Future & Metro Boomin’s New Album?

In his verse, Kendrick raps two lines that lend themselves to this view. At about the midway point of the verse, he says, “F*ck sneak dissin’, first-person shooter, I hope they came with three switches.” This appears to be a reference to Drake and J. Cole’s No. 1 single “First Person Shooter,” which appeared on Drake’s album For All The Dogs just ahead of the duo announcing a joint tour.

In the second apparent reference to his seeming rivals, Kendrick punctuates his verse with an even more obvious reference: “Motherf*ck the big three,” he exclaims. “It’s just big me.” He also references Drake’s recent album, which contains a boasting comparison of the Canadian MC to King of Pop Michael Jackson, sneering, “Prince outlive Mike Jack’ / ‘fore all your dawgs gettin’ buried / That’s a K with all these nines, he gon’ see Pet Sematary.”

Final verdict: Yes, it would seem that Kendrick Lamar is indeed going at the heads of his fellow chart-toppers, in a much less ambiguous showing than Big Sean’s reference to the Big Three earlier this week. It looks like the discourse about just who’s the best has started up all over again. May God help us all.

Olivia Rodrigo Slays The Competition At A Beauty Pageant In Her ‘Obsessed’ Video

Olivia Rodrigo isn’t done spilling her guts. Tonight (March 22), just six months after sharing her sophomore album Guts, the pop hitmaker has shared its deluxe edition, Guts: Spilled. On the deluxe edition is an angsty track called “Obsessed,” which has previously appeared on limited pressings of the original Guts edition.

“Obsessed” tells the story of a jealous Rodrigo, who is fixated on the ex of her current boyfriend.

“I’m so obsessed with your ex / I know she’s been asleep on my side of your bed / And I can feel it / I’m starin’ at her like I wanna get hurt / And I remember / Every detail you have ever told me, so be careful, baby / I’m so obsessed with your ex,” she sings on the song’s chorus.

While some fans may have been in possession of “Obsessed” for a while now — depending on which edition of the standard Guts album they purchased — Rodrigo shared the song’s accompanying visual.

In the video, Rodrigo finds herself in a pageant full of potential contenders, each of which wearing their remarkable qualities on a sash. But through this brutal competition, she finds a way to steal the show.

At long last, Shakira is back. Tonight (March 22), the Colombian legend and icon dropped her long-awaited new album, Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran — which marks her first album in seven years. The album is stacked with collaborations, and opens with a scorching collab with the one and only, Cardi B.

On “Puntería,” Shakira recalls a former love, who still has far too much of a hold on her heart.

“Tú tienes buena puntería / Sabes por dónde darme pa’ que quede rendi’a / Me ataca donde más duele, tú a mí no me conviene / Pero en tu cama o la mía, todo eso a mí se me olvida,” sings Shakira on the song’s chorus, which translates to “You have good aim / You know where to give me so that I remain surrendered / It attacks me where it hurts the most, you don’t suit me / But in your bed or mine, I forget all that.”
