When Does The Lollapalooza 2024 Lineup Come Out?

We’ve had a bunch of great music festival lineup announcements over the past few months, but we’re still waiting on one of the big ones: Lollapalooza. The Lolla lineup actually might be coming pretty soon, though.

When Does The Lollapalooza 2024 Lineup Come Out?

On social media today (March 18), the festival shared a video that highlights various clocks from around the world. The post is captioned, “Almost time. See you tomorrow.” This presumably means fans can expect organizers to announce the 2024 lineup, or at least part of it, tomorrow, March 19. Furthermore, we can take “presumably,” “maybe,” and “perhaps” out of the equation: The festival website confirms the lineup is coming on the 19th.

This year’s fest goes down from August 1 to 4 at Chicago’s Grant Park. Tickets are not currently on sale and it’s not clear when they will be. One would imagine, though, that this info would become available when the lineup is revealed on the 19th. Either way, you can sign up for updates on the Lolla website.

While we don’t know who’s on the lineup yet, we can expect greatness, as Lollapalooza always delivers. The 2023 roster, for example, was led by Kendrick Lamar, Billie Eilish, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Odesza, Lana Del Rey, Karol G, The 1975, and Tomorrow X Together.

Some artists covered here are Warner Music artists. Uproxx is an independent subsidiary of Warner Music Group.

Adrianne Lenker Offers One More Pre-Album Taste Of ‘Bright Future’ With The Serene ‘Free Treasure’

Adrianne Lenker is now just days away from releasing her latest solo album, Bright Future. Now, though, she has shared what will presumably be the final pre-album single with today’s (March 18) release of “Free Treasure.” Like much of the Big Thief leader’s best work, it’s a tender and intimate song that’s not much more than a gentle guitar and Lenker’s idiosyncratic vocals.

A press release describes the song, “With Mat Davidson on vocal and guitar harmonies, ‘Free Treasure’ takes us home, where we find the best cooking, a warm fire, understanding, and ‘love without measure.’ It is a road-worn traveler’s paradise, full of adventure and whimsy, free to whomever lays it all down. ‘Just when I thought I couldn’t feel more, I feel a little more.’”

The release also notes Lenker is set to perform the song on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon on March 19.

This new song comes shortly after Lenker surprise-released a six-song collection, with proceeds benefiting the Palestine Children’s Relief Fund. She explained, “Everything I think to say feels like it is less than a micro-fraction of the power that is needed to convey the message. I can’t express how sad and angry I am about this ongoing violence towards Palestinians. The killing must stop. The need for a ceasefire is beyond urgent. Permanent Ceasefire Now!”

Listen to “Free Treasure” above.

Bright Future is out 3/22 via 4AD. Find more information here.

‘The Cat In The Hat’ Movie Has A Shockingly Good Cast, Including Bill Hader, Quinta Brunson, And Matt Berry

bill hader
nbc

Taylor Swift once sang, “You know the greatest films of all time were never made.” But that was before Bill Hader was announced as the Cat in the Hat. Last week, we learned that the SNL legend and Barry co-creator was in talks to play the psychopathic feline in an animated movie based on the Dr. Seuss book. It’s now official: The Cat in the Hat will be released in theaters on March 6, 2026.

Outside of Hader, the rest of the cast includes Quinta Brunson, Bowen Yang, Xochitl Gomez, Matt Berry, and Paula Pell, all in unannounced roles. Please please please let Matt Berry play Thing One and Thing Two.

“We are overjoyed to partner with our friends at Dr. Seuss to take audiences of all ages on an adventure into the beloved world of The Cat in the Hat. With this incredible voice cast led by Bill Hader as the fun-loving, agent of chaos himself and our filmmakers [writers and directors Alessandro Carloni and Erica Rivinoja] at the helm, we look forward to sharing this Seussian cinematic spectacle with audiences everywhere in 2026,” said Warner Bros. Animation president Bill Damaschke.

If Warner Bros. doesn’t release a double feature of The Cat in the Hat and Coyote vs. Acme, I’m going to pry a certain executive‘s eyes open, Clockwork Orange style, and make him watch the Cat in the Hat movie with Mike Myers every day until he breaks.

Ernie Hudson On ‘Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire’ And Having The Tools And The Talent

ernie_hudson_ghost_busters(1600x500)
Sony

When I saw the original Ghostbusters in theaters for the first time as a little kid, it was kind of shocking there was a fourth Ghostbuster. Because there was nothing in the film’s marketing at the time to suggest the team wasn’t just three dudes. Of course, Winston Zeddemore is very much a Ghostbuster in the first film, quickly becoming a fan favorite (including mine) since his approach to the team is just from that of a regular guy who needed a job. And the Ghostbusters happened to be hiring.

Ernie Hudson has talked about this over the years, how the marketing for the original film seemed to actively go out of its way not to include Hudson. Which, to Hudson was pretty hurtful. Which is interesting to compare with today, where not only Hudson is very much in the marketing for the film, in the film his Winston Zeddemore owns the team now. (And these days it’s quite a large team.)

The Ghostbusters have expanded in Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire. The three Spengler descendants (Carrie Coon, Mckenna Grace, Finn Wolfhard), along with Gary (Paul Rudd), live at the old firehouse. Across the East River, there’s a whole other Ghostbusters tech team doing research on spirits and ghouls, which includes an ancient artifact sold to Ray Stanz (Dan Aykroyd), by a sneaker and video game enthusiast named Nadeem, that could spell doom for the world.

Ahead, Hudson breaks down his experience being a Ghostbuster back in the ’80s to being one today. And along the way we go through a few other of his notable roles.

Ernie Hudson: Everything good?

No complaints. How are you doing?

Yeah, things are going well. We’re sort of in the middle of trying to do as much press to get the word out for the new film. That can be a little bit stressful sometimes, depending on how they set it up. But it’s all good. I’ve got no complaints. Everything’s good.

My parents took me to see the original Ghostbusters in theaters. But I realized the first movie I saw you in, in theaters, was the John Travolta/Olivia Newton-John comedy, Two of A Kind.

Oh, Two of a Kind. Really? Wow. Yeah, John Travolta is in that film

I re-watched it because I was going to talk to you, you play Detective Skaggs.

Well, yeah. I didn’t do a whole lot in it, if I remember. But it was fun to get to work with John and Olivia. So yeah, it was a while back.

Re-watching the original Ghostbusters and Ghostbusters II, and now this one. You and Dan Aykroyd have a pretty amazing rapport. You have another great scene with him in the new movie.

Yeah. I wish we had done some other things. The years go by…

Yeah, I do too.

And we talked about that. But Danny, he’s really very, very good. But he’s almost … he creates in a different way. I don’t know if he’s – I don’t want to say ADD because I don’t mean that in a negative way – but he just, it’s like tons of things. He looks like he’s considered… there’s nothing you can talk about that he hasn’t spent time thinking about and has stories for. And it’s just great to see him sort of focus in. And I just love working with him. He’s just very different creative than, say, Bill Murray. But he’s just pretty incredible if you’ve had chance to have a conversation with him. But my God, he has stories and he believes in all this stuff, which gives him a whole other level of a passion and interest. He’s loaded with tons of stories about the paranormal. But he is great, and it’s great working with him. I really like him a lot.

Winston is my favorite Ghostbuster. And I’ve seen you talk about the frustration with the original movie, how you weren’t on the poster or in the marketing. And it’s infuriating that happened. I’m pretty sure you know this now, but at the time, did you have any inkling how much your character would resonate with dorky white kids like me?

Well, no, I had no idea. I knew the movie would do well. But no, I had no idea, because I felt like the studio… And I have to really take my hat off to Sony because I think they’ve sort of gone above and beyond to try and assure me that I’m part of the Ghostbusters and that I’m included. Because on the first movie, especially, it felt like everything they could do to make sure that I got the message that I wasn’t. And I think when I was doing that interview, I’m not sure if it’s the one you’re thinking about, but I was responding to how I felt. Because who knows what’s happening in this business, but those are my impressions. But I really do feel that it was a learning experience and it forced me to look at things from a different perspective. And I think those lessons I’ve sort of carried with me through my whole career, so I don’t regret anything. But it was difficult. And it is great to be able to now be a part of this. And now know that Winston is definitely a part of this. And that makes me very happy.

Winston resonated with me because Peter, Ray and Egon are scientists. For Winston it’s just a job and he’s saying things I’d be saying. And as a kid that resonated with me.

Right, right. Yeah, you don’t think about that. But I think a little bit of that is how I maybe felt with the group. Because Danny is so creative, all over the place. And Harold was really kind of, I always consider him the magnet because everybody would sort of go off in different directions sometimes. And Harold was the one that sort of pulled everybody back together. I felt like the cousin that visits the family. And the family’s been together, and they have their little infighting, and I’m trying to be the polite one. But I’m happy to be here, but I don’t really know what’s going on. And I think that kind came through in the character as well.

You mentioned Winston now being firmly a part of things. I mean, Winston is financing the whole operation. He’s the boss.

Right, yeah, I did. Well, we did a video game…

Oh, I played that game.

Yeah, back a few years ago.

Yeah it was PlayStation 3 I believe.

And they were saying, “Okay, let’s say he went to school, now he’s a doctor.” I’m like, “Well, he doesn’t really need to be a doctor.” So I was glad that they figured a way to just let Winston be a part. Even though Bill was saying, “Well, you’re the boss and you should be hard ass.” I’m like, “Yeah, well, that’s kind of not Winston.”

No. It’s not.

I don’t want to run everything. And I mean, you’re running things, but that’s not my way of how I would run it. Yeah. But it’s been sort of interesting. It’ll be interesting to see how they move forward, because talking with Sony, it was kind of like Winston would somehow, in time, would be… What’s the character that Sam plays in the Marvel movies? The guy who runs things?

Nick Fury.

Yeah, the Nick Fury character. We hint at it in the new movie. When I’m saying to Danny that it’s time to step back and let the young people run with it. But we need to do something in a different way. But when it’s time to step up and step in there, we do it. And because it’s time to bring in some new people and I’d love to see that happen even more. But no matter where they go with them, I’m hoping that Winston will always be a part of it and care about it and be involved in some level.

I think your instincts were correct not to make Winston a tyrant. As a huge fan of that character, if he’s screaming at people in this movie that would be disconcerting.

Yeah. I think as an actor, a lot of times people will look at it and they kind of go, “Well, he should be, because he’s…” You know what? I think in life, I think we have to stay true to who we are and how we do things, but everybody has an opinion. I think Winston cares about people. And also I think I like the idea of him thinking of it on a deeper level than we’re just running around and capturing these paranormal phantoms. That he wants to look into what’s really causing it and the science behind it. And ultimately, how does all that affect our lives as human beings who are running around? I mean, we’re there. These are so pronounced, we begin to see them, but truth of the matter is they’re all around us all the time. So I’m glad they’re kind of opening that door to maybe taking a little bit more of a scientific approach and with just the whole mystery of it all.

I’d be remiss if I did not tell you that me and a good friend of mine, to this day, when something good happens while watching sports, we still say, “We had the tools, we had the talent!”

That’s right! It’s so funny, that first one, there’s so many iconic lines. “That’s a big Twinkie.” Or fans will yell out all these lines from that first movie. The second movie, I think a lot of kids were introduced to it and I think it’s a little bit more accessible. It’s not quite as scary. But I don’t remember any lines from that movie.

Well, there’s you and Dan looking at each other and saying, “He-Man” after the kids wanted to see He-Man instead of the Ghostbusters.

That is right! Yeah. Actually, Jason Reitman was in that scene with us.

Speaking of movies I’ve seen of yours in theaters, I even saw The Cowboy Way in theaters.

Oh, no?

I have a 20-second The Cowboy Way story. Do you want to hear this?

Yeah, take your time.

I saw The Cowboy Way in a suburb of Kansas City — it’s the last suburb before it becomes very rural. So a lot of people from that area come to this theater. There were two guys in front of us in full cowboy gear waiting in line to buy a ticket. My friend leans over to me, “I bet I know what they’re going to see.” And then one guy goes up to the counter, in a very thick country accent, “Two for The Cowboy Way.” That’s the story.

Yeah?

I don’t know if that’s enjoyable or not, but we saw The Cowboy Way with them.

It wasn’t one of the… I don’t want to say it wasn’t a good movie. But Kix Brooks, the country-western songwriter from Brooks and Dunn, we shot this movie in Tombstone [Ambush at Dark Canyon], and all the cowboys were huge fans of that movie. I don’t really see a lot of people who mention that movie. But it’s very, very popular in Western United States. And I think… Oh, God, I’m blanking on his name, but Woody Harrelson and…

Kiefer Sutherland.

Kiefer, yeah.

They play Pepper and Sonny. I don’t know how I remember that.

Yeah, Kiefer got into rodeoing and was doing that for a few years after. So he was really committed. It was a fun film to be a part of here in New York.

I mean, it makes sense that they like it because it’s about two guys from New Mexico who drive to New York City and solve a murder. I mean, I understand the appeal there.

Right. God, I’d forgotten about it. Yeah, to look back on some of the films has really been a lot of fun.

Future & Metro Boomin’s ‘We Don’t Trust You’: Everything To Know, Including The Release Date, Tracklist & More

future and metro boomin
Getty Image

It’s finally time; one of the most-anticipated hip-hop albums of 2024 (and technically, of 2023) is finally set to arrive. Well, half of it, anyway. Future and Metro Boomin first teased their joint project, We Don’t Trust You, back in January 2023, calling it the “album of the year” despite not yet even having a release date. Metro continued teasing the project that summer but still had no idea when it would come out by October.

Metro called the album his “top focus” in October, but it still missed the window for being the best album of 2023 — so it looks like they’ll just have to settle for having the best album of 2024. Except that earlier this month, when they finally revealed its release date, it turned out that they’d wound up making two albums. The first of which will be We Don’t Trust You, a reference to Metro’s producer tag (one of them, anyway) in which Future declares, “If young Metro don’t trust you, we gon’ shoot you.”

Here’s everything to know about Future and Metro Boomin’s joint album We Don’t Trust You.

Release Date

We Don’t Trust You is due on March 22 through Boominati, Freebandz, and Republic.

Tracklist

Future and Metro Boomin have yet to reveal their tracklist.

Singles

There have been no official singles released from the upcoming album, but they did debut a few of the new songs during their headlining set at Rolling Loud California this past weekend. Check it out below.

Features

Metro said there would be no features on the album… but it doesn’t look like that’s entirely true. He later notified fans that Playboi Carti would appear on a song called “Type Sh*t.” Meanwhile, during their Rolling Loud set, Travis Scott appeared on two previously unheard songs.

Artwork

No official artwork has yet been revealed.

Tour

No tour has been announced as of press time (Monday, March 18 10:00am PT) but it seems likely that either or both will tour for the album — most likely, an announcement would come after the second album releases on April 12.

A Jimmy Kimmel-Produced Reality Series About A Marijuana Dispensary Is Heading To Hulu Just In Time For 4/20

High Hopes
Hulu

On the off-chance that you don’t have plans for this 420, Jimmy Kimmel wants you to know that he’s got you covered, at least when it comes to your entertainment options. Even though Bill and Ted already exist.

The Oscars host is gearing up for his next big producing project, a reality series following the two brothers behind one of the oldest cannabis dispensaries in Hollywood. It’s just like Yellowstone for weed-heads. Yellowstoner, if you will.

Hulu has picked up High Hopes for a six-episode season beginning on April 20th. It’s the perfect way to pregame for Earth Day. Here is the official synopsis:

High Hopes is a workplace reality series following Belarus-born brothers Slava and Mishka, and their stoned crew through the trials and tribulations of taking their cannabis business to new heights. As one of the oldest cannabis dispensaries in Hollywood, MMD attracts a wild mix of weed-loving customers and is a home away from home for their OG employees who work hard and smoke harder! This season builds to their biggest day of the year—4.20—as the gang attempts to expand nationwide and release their own top-shelf cannabis brand. Will they find what they’re looking for or will their hopes go up in smoke?

If this show does well enough, maybe Kimmel can speak to the folks at Hulu about bringing back High Fidelity for a final spin.

As we barrel closer to April, festival season truly is just around the corner. Now folks in the Washington DC area have something concrete to look forward to: Today (March 18), Broccoli City announced its 2024 lineup.

The fest, which goes down at Audi Field from July 27 to 28, is led by Megan Thee Stallion, Gunna, and PartyNextDoor. Also on the poster are Lil Yachty, The Concrete Family, Kaytranada, Victoria Monét, Key Glock, Sexyy Red, Teezo Touchdown, Fridayy, Veeze, Amaarae, Jordan Ward, Skilla Baby, Baby Tate, Tyan Trey, and Chlothegod.

Aside from the core music artists, there’s also a set of other experiences to enjoy, like Trapsoul Karaoke hosted by Bryson Tiller, Coco Butter with Uncle Waffles, Test Your Game with Duke Dennis, and more.

As for tickets, there’s a pre-sale live now, which you can access with the code “EATGOOD24.” All-in ticket prices (meaning no addition fees) currently start at $225. More information about tickets is available on the Broccoli City website.

Uproxx’s Wongo Okon was at least year’s fest and he said of the event (in which weather was a factor), “Broccoli City Festival was a hectic weekend, but in the end, it was a satisfying showcase. Strong performances from Asake, Rema, Ice Spice, Brent Faiyaz, Chloe Bailey, Coco Jones, and others made it all worthwhile — especially when the dastardly sun set for the day or was at least covered by clouds. Some improvements are definitely in store for the next edition of the festival, but the highs and lows of Broccoli City shouldn’t deter you from checking out their next showcase, especially if the necessary changes are made.”

LeBron James And J.J. Redick Are Starting A Basketball-Focused Podcast Together

jj redick lebron james

J.J. Redick has quickly climbed the ladder in the sports media world, as he now occupies a seat on ESPN’s lead NBA commentary team with Mike Breen and Doris Burke, and his podcast, The Old Man and the Three, is incredibly popular and regularly lands some of the biggest names in the NBA as guests.

Redick’s next venture may just be his biggest though, as he’s adding a second weekly podcast to his schedule with a pretty notable co-host: LeBron James. The podcast, called Mind the Game, will be co-produced by LeBron and Redick’s respective production companies and promises focus on the game of basketball and let the two dive into how they think about the game, rather than arguing about GOAT status or topics you’d see on First Take, via Andrew Marchand of The Athletic.

“It’s meant to be a very free-flowing conversation about the sport and about the game,” Redick said in a phone interview. “If you look at it in a very simplistic way, it’s just about basketball.”

“I’m really proud of what we’ve done to innovate in sports media,” James said in a statement to The Athletic. “… When I do a project, the only thing I think about is whether me and my friends would watch it. That is definitely the case with ‘Mind the Game.’ Everything doesn’t need to be designed for internet culture and clicks.”

As Marchand notes, the first clip he saw of the podcast shows the two breaking down how to defend a screen while drinking a glass of wine, and it figures to be that kind of laid back conversation about the finer points of the game, with guests occasionally popping in to offer their thoughts on the tactical side of the game. Redick has long wanted to focus more on that, but has lamented that his efforts in doing so don’t draw the same level of attention as rants about Doc Rivers or debates over player rankings. Now, we’ll see if the appetite for that kind of content increases with LeBron James on board, and it could be a very good thing for giving fans a chance to hear from one of the greatest basketball minds to every play the game.

Trump Is Being Labeled A ‘Massive National Security Risk’ After His Lawyers Admit He Can’t Post A $464 Million Bond

Donald Trump
Getty Image

After getting hit with a massive $464 million judgment in the civil fraud cause brought by New York Attorney General Letitia James, Donald Trump has struggled to pay the bond, raising significant questions about his actual wealth. However, for a brief moment it appeared that Trump had somehow found a way to cover the judgment, but that all went out the window on Monday morning as his lawyers admitted in court filings that no underwriters will back the former president’s bond.

Via CNN:

“The amount of the judgment, with interest, exceeds $464 million, and very few bonding companies will consider a bond of anything approaching that magnitude,” Trump’s lawyers wrote. (Trump himself was fined $454 million; the $464 million includes the disgorgement for his adult sons Don Jr. and Eric.)

An insurance broker, Gary Giuletti, who testified for Trump during the civil fraud trial, signed an affidavit stating that securing a bond in the full amount “is a practical impossibility.”

As news hit social media that Trump can’t cover the bond despite being a supposed billionaire, Democratic Congressman Sean Casten didn’t waste time flagging the former president as a “massive national security risk.”

“The presumptive @GOP nominee for President is desperate for $464M (and counting) which he cannot personally access,” Casten tweeted. “That fact alone makes him a massive national security risk; any foreign adversary seeking to buy a President knows the price.”

“We already lack clarity on what security was provided for the $91M bond he posted in response to the E. Jean Carroll case,” Casten continued. “That is already a plenty BFD. A guy who wants your trust and wants to be President should disclose his liabilities.”

Trump’s inability to cover the bond arrives on the heel of his former fixer Michael Cohen predicting that Trump is in dire financial trouble because all of his properties are “leveraged.”

“I think we are going to see him lose everything, he’s already lost his mind and most of his money,” Cohen said via Newsweek. “Millions and millions in legal fees alone. I mean his properties are all leveraged and just moments after the predator in chief put up the bond to appeal the E. Jean Carroll defamation judgment.”
