‘Adult Toddler’ Elon Musk Canceled Don Lemon’s Fancy New Twitter/X Show Hours After Don Questioned His Ketamine Use In Their Interview

Don Lemon just got an inside look at Elon Musk‘s supposed commitment to free speech. The former CNN anchor was set to launch his new show on Twitter in a highly-touted multi-million dollar deal. For his first interview, Lemon naturally chose Musk who agreed to sit down for the discussion, which reportedly took place last Friday. However, hours after taping the interview, Musk angrily canceled the deal with Lemon.

“There were no restrictions on the interview that he willingly agreed to, and my questions were respectful and wide-ranging, covering everything from SpaceX to the presidential election.” Lemon wrote in a statement announcing Musk had terminated the deal. “We had a good conversation. Clearly he felt differently. His commitment to a global town square where all questions can be asked and all ideas can be shared seems to not include questions of him from people like me.”

As for what questions angered Musk enough to nuke the deal, which he’ll still have to pay out, tech reporter Kara Swisher provided some insight.

“The owner of this platform Elon Musk sent a terse text to his reps: ‘Contract terminated’ after an interview Lemon did with Musk last Friday that was not to the adult toddler’s liking, including questions about his ketamine use,” Swisher tweeted before expanding on her attempts to warn Lemon that this exact thing would happen.

Naturally, Musk has already responded to the fiasco, which he blames on Lemon being a pawn for CNN boss Jeff Zucker.

“His approach was basically just ‘CNN, but on social media,’ which doesn’t work, as evidenced by the fact that CNN is dying,” Musk said. “And, instead of it being the real Don Lemon, it was really just Jeff Zucker talking through Don, so lacked authenticity. All this said, Lemon/Zucker are of course welcome to build their viewership on this platform along with everyone else.”

Lemon plans to take Musk up on that offer. In a new video, Lemon vowed to air the Musk interview on the first episode of his show as well as discuss what went down afterwards. The episode will be available on YouTube and Twitter, which Lemon took particular joy in noting.

‘Friday The 13th’ Prequel Series ‘Crystal Lake’: Everything To Know So Far About The A24 Series On Peacock

Friday the 13th a new beginning
Paramount Pictures

Nostalgia rolls through our TV landscape in abundance, although it’s no secret that bottling the stuff and making lightning strike twice only succeeds on the rarest of occasions. Yet it was only a matter of time before the Jason Voorhees saga received the prequel treatment. Before you sigh, however, consider this: this will be a Peacock series hailing from A24 and Hannibal creator Brian Fuller, which lends more than a promising vibe to the project.

What can we expect from this series, which is called Crystal Lake?

Plot

Variety previously reported that the show will be an “expanded prequel,” which is a cryptic description of what little is known of the plot. However, Camp Crystal Lake is of course (as filmed in New Jersey) where much of the horror occurs in the first Friday the 13th movie. Fuller is writing the series along with the seminal “final girl” (from the first movie), who was portrayed by Adrienne King. She will also play an undisclosed role in the prequel series and posted a photo from the “first writers meeting” with a nod towards “full circle moments.”

Peacock has quoted Fuller’s enthusiasm about the project:

“I discovered Friday the 13th in the pages of Famous Monsters magazine when I was 10 years old and I have been thinking about this story ever since,” Fuller said. “When it comes to horror, A24 raises the bar and pushes the envelope and I’m thrilled to be exploring the campgrounds of Crystal Lake under their banner.”

Additionally, since this is an “expanded prequel,” it’s likely that we won’t even see Jason in killer form but rather, this could be a story that’s more about Pamela Voorhees, who was actually doing mayhem in the original film. Heck, this Peacock show might not include either of these characters. (The 1987 TV attempt didn’t include Jason, ya know?) This is A24 we’re talking about here, so it’s a good bet that producers and writers are enjoying an out-of-the-box playground.

Cast

This is an odd point to consider, considering that Jason Voorhees has been portrayed by an endless series of stuntmen and actors. The most notable of this assembling happens to be Kane Hodder, who picked up the hockey mask for four movies. It’s also an odd topic because this project probably will not even revolve around Jason, but until we receive actual clues on the plot, at least we know that Adrienne King is involved.

Release Date

Peacock announced this series around Halloween 2022, and as we all know, Hollywood fell into production disarray for most of 2023. Thus, it’s no surprise that we haven’t seen a precise release date, but in an Instagram post, Adrienne King included the #Coming2024 hashtag, so perhaps it will be an October treat (or trick).

Trailer

We aren’t lucky enough to have seen footage yet, but feel free to relive this compilation of Jason moments including Friday the 13th Part 6: Jason Lives doing the James Bond intro.

Carrie Coon Is Being Called A ‘Physical Media Queen’ For Her Impressive Collection Of Blu-Rays

Carrie Coon rules. This is not breaking news or anything, but I feel it’s worth mentioning from time to time. She rules on The Leftovers, Fargo, and The Gilded Age; she’ll probably rule in Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire when it comes out later this month; and she definitely rules when she’s talking about her and her husband Tracey Letts’ DVD collection on The Tonight Show.

“We have 10,000 Blu-Rays,” she told an exasperated Jimmy Fallon during Tuesday’s episode of the late-night show. “I know, my husband is a very sick man.” After Fallon asked if they’ve heard of the internet (recent history has shown that owning physical media >>> movies on streaming that might disappear forever for no reason), she said, “He doesn’t approve of streaming. There’s a website called DVD Beaver and I thought he was looking at porn but it’s actually about different… It’s all about imprints. There’s different companies that put out imprints of DVDs, so we have a lot of rare, hard media that you can’t get anymore.” Coon added, “Not that kind of hard.”

My new life goal: host a movie night for Carrie Coon and Tracy Letts. We could make popcorn, change into our pajamas, and watch Shaolin and Wu-Tang on Blu-Ray. It’s what Nora would want.

Lizzy McAlpine Questions The Nature Of A Dynamic On Her New Song, ‘I Guess’

We are just weeks away from Lizzy McAlpine‘s upcoming third studio album, Older. Ahead of her much-anticipated major-label debut, McAlpine has shared “I Guess,” her contemplative new song.

On “I Guess,” McAlpine waxes poetic as she finds herself questioning the nature of a dynamic that has become all too familiar to her — in good ways, and in bad.

“I guess it’s all about timing / I guess it’s all about the things you want but never get / I guess it’s all about trying / To love someone you’ve never met,” she sings on one of the song’s choruses.

Like the majority of McAlpine‘s upcoming album, “I Guess” was recorded live alongside Ryan Lerman, Mason Stoops, and Jeremy Most. Last year, her song “Ceilings” became a viral hit through TikTok. While the song has helped spotlight her lyrical and compositional craft, McAlpine says that her newer music feels closer to her heart.

“To me, this album represents who I’ve become over the past three years,” McAlpine said in a statement. “Through the long and mostly tumultuous journey of making it, I have learned who I am as a person, who I want to be as an artist and what kind of art I want to make. This album is a culmination of that growth, showcasing the rawest and most honest version of me.”

You can listen to “I Guess” above.

Older is out 4/5 via RCA. Find more information here.

‘The Fall Guy’ Reviews Can’t Get Enough Of Ryan Gosling In This Love Letter To Stuntmen And Action Rom-Coms

The Fall Guy Ryan Gosling Emily Blunt
Universal

After dazzling the Oscars with his live performance of “I’m Just Ken,” Ryan Gosling jetted to SXSW where he brought the house down again. This time, with his new movie The Fall Guy.

The David Leitch film reimagines the classic ’80s TV show with Gosling taking over the role of Colt Seavers from Lee Majors. Emily Blunt is along for the ride as Colt’s love interest, and based on the reviews coming out of the festival, the two leads have chemistry for days. On top of that, The Fall Guy is slam-bang tribute to the stunt performers who put it all on the line to make movies look badass.

You can see what the critics are saying below:

Peter Debruge, Variety:

“The Fall Guy” is funny, it’s sexy, and it features the boy’s-toy version of “Barbie” scene-stealer Ryan Gosling — which is to say, after playing a Ken doll, now he embodies the ultimate action figure. This is the charisma-radiating side of Gosling audiences love (as opposed to expressionless “Only God Forgives” Gosling), and though his character doesn’t have much depth, you could hardly wish for better casting.

Adrian Horton, The Guardian:

The Fall Guy, based on the 80s TV series, is an utterly charming, unpretentious rebuttal to the encroachment of digital effects in life and film (all due respect to VFX artists). It’s a celebration of blockbuster movies and their illusions of grandeur made by dozens and dozens of people working in concert, mostly below the line, and specifically the underappreciated work of stunt doubles. It’s also just a consistently good time, two hours of zingers with impeccable timing, two bona fide movie stars with palpable chemistry, several enjoyably meta send-ups of the business and, of course, plenty of crazy stunts.

Fletcher Peters, The Daily Beast:

It is incredibly refreshing to see a masculine action movie with fully developed female characters—workaholic Gail is as fun to watch as motor-mouthed sweetheart Jody. Blunt knocks it out of the enemies-to-lovers park, creating a rom-com leading lady as relatable as any of Meg Ryan’s famous roles—she’s nervous, she’s ambitious, she’s nervous about being ambitious. And of course Gosling meets her at the table on the rom-com parts of the film. That’s a given. Fans of any of Gosling’s romantic roles will swoon just as hard over The Fall Guy, which offers up a sizzling hot second-chance love story.

Lovia Gyarkye, The Hollywood Reporter:

Leitch’s expertise and appreciation for stuntmen adds an endearing layer to the enjoyment of The Fall Guy, which premiered at SXSW. The director indulges in major and minor stunts, staging plenty of scenes with cars rolling over to escape exploding bombs and characters escaping chokeholds from people determined to kill them. In each of these moments, Leitch strikes a balance of showmanship and mechanics. He teaches audiences to appreciate the number of people it takes to pull off a car crash or a human torch stunt. The action sequences in The Fall Guy vary, but each one offers a level of gripping precision.

Katie Rife, IndieWire:

This is popcorn filmmaking at its most cheerful and enthusiastic, driven by cheeky needle drops (the KISS disco hit “I Was Made for Loving You” serves as an unofficial theme song), rousing action, and movie stars. It might not give Hollywood power players any more respect for the contributions of stunt performers and coordinators, but it does put a romantic spin on their work that will continue the public’s love affair with the profession. It also ensures that we’ll continue to see a lot of Ryan Gosling in the coming months, which is never a bad thing.

The Fall Guy opens in theaters on May 3.

Fans are in stitches after woman’s wildly incorrect, whimsical ‘Wheel of Fortune’ guess

Is there any game show that allows contestants to royally embarrass themselves on national TV quite like “Wheel of Fortune”? There’s always someone going viral for taking a big swing and missing on a phrase that seemed pretty apparent to the casual viewer.

And when you take a big loss on a “Wheel of Fortune” word puzzle, there are a lot of folks shaking their heads at home. More than 8 million people watch the game show every night.

The latest victim of the wheel is Gishma Tabari from Encino, California, whose fantasy-inspired whiff of a common phrase earned her a lot of groans and some support from those who thought her imagination was inspiring.

The 3-word puzzle read: “TH _ _ RITI _ S _ GR _ E,” and Tabari offered the answer, “The British Ogre.” The guess surprised host Pat Sajak, who responded, “Uh, no.” Tabari must have missed that there was a space between the R and the E in the puzzle, so ogre would have had to be spelled with 2 Rs.

She also probably wasn’t aware that England isn’t a place known for its ogres.

The correct answer was: “The Critics Agree.”

The answer inspired a lot of activity on X, where people couldn’t believe someone could come up with such a fanciful answer to a puzzle with such a straightforward solution.

Michael created a lovely Photoshop image of what could be the British Ogre.

Not everyone had a problem with the guess.

The incorrect guess is an opportunity for the world to learn that ogres aren’t a significant part of English folklore. Sure, there are characters in English myths and legends that have ogre-like qualities, such as Grendel from “Beowulf,” the monstrous creature that terrorizes the mead hall of King Hrothgar. There’s also the Boggart, a mischievous spirit much like a hobgoblin and trolls, which appear in some English tales although they originate in Scandinavia.

If you’re looking for ogres in Europe, France is the best place to go.

The word ogre is of French descent and comes from the name of the Etruscan god of the underworld, Orcus. Orcus is a large, ugly, bearded giant who enjoys consuming human flesh. Ogres are primarily known for eating children, which they believe will give them eternal life.

As for “Wheel of Fortune,” the show will undergo significant changes over the next few years. The show’s host, Pat Sajak, 76, has announced that he is stepping down from the show at the end of the 2024 season after hosting it for 41 years. In September 2024, radio host and “American Idol” emcee Ryan Seacrest will take over the hosting spot.

Seacrest says that changes to the show will be minimal once he takes over.

“With this game show, it’s such a success and has been for generations,” Seacrest said in a new interview with People. “You don’t mess with it, just don’t mess with it. Just get out of the way, say ‘good evening,’ and let’s play.”
