If you were already exhausted by the so-called “rap beef” (ugh) between J. Cole and Kendrick Lamar after the past week, don’t worrry; you’re in good company. J. Cole himself was apparently done before his diss song, “7 Minute Drill,” was a full 72 hours old. During his set at Dreamville Festival, he straight-up apologized to his good buddy Kendrick and called the track the “lamest sh*t” of his life.
For what it’s worth, his assessment probably came after seeing the less-than-lukewarm response the track received from rap fans online, who questioned his decision to call Kendrick’s Grammy-winning album To Pimp A Butterfly sleep-inducing after that’s been the primary argument against his music on Twitter since before everybody on there became a fake activist in 2014.
It’s also probable that J. Cole realized that he and Kendrick had no real prior animosity and he was just the victim of splash damage from Kendrick’s incisive call-out on Future & Metro Boomin’s “Like That.” Although Kendrick declared “motherf*ck the Big Three / It’s just big me” most of his shots were seemingly reserved for Drake, against whom he has been pitted by rap fans almost since their near-parallel ascensions from the blog era of the late aughties.
In any case, it appears that Cole didn’t really want smoke, was equally disappointed in his own conribution to the three-way feud, and has decided to let the two actual contenders duke it out without his input. If only he’d realized this BEFORE he dropped Might Delete Later, this whole mess could have been avoided.
Originally airing in 1998, the Seinfeld finale went down as one of the most hated nights in television as the classic NBC sitcom ended with Jerry, Elaine, George, and Kramer going to jail after years of being the most horrible, self-absorbed people in New York City finally caught up with them.
In the Curb finale, David already seemed to be heading towards a Seinfeld redux after he was arrested earlier in the season in Georgia for violating the state’s voting laws by giving Leon’s aunt a glass of water while she was in line. (The south, everybody!) The finale opened with David facing trial for the unusually decent act, and things immediately took a turn as Larry’s year of being the worst came back to haunt him.
The coffee store operator whom Larry competed against out of spite, the golf club owner whose black swan he killed, Trump administration whistleblower Alexander Vindman — they and many others (even Bruce Springsteen) take the stand to recount Larry’s many, many offenses (stealing shoes from a Holocaust museum, stealing flowers from a memorial, eating a dying dog’s last meal) against decorum and basic good behavior.
Like the Seinfeld finale, Larry gets slapped with a one year prison sentence. It sure seems like Larry is about to completely ape the most infamous ending in television until an unlikely savior arrives: Jerry Seinfeld. The comedian reveals to the judge that one of the jurors bumped into him at a coffee shop and violated the sequester, which results in Larry scoring a mistrial. As Jerry picks Larry up at prison, the Curb finale takes one final jab at the Seinfeld ending.
“You don’t want to end up like this,” Seinfeld says. “No one wants to see it. Trust me.”
As you can see by the reactions below, Curb fans were loving that David took such a huge swing by doubling down on the Seinfeld finale that people have complained about for years:

However, one user doesn’t think David was trying to fix anything and fully believes the Curb finale was a straight-up finger to the haters:
J. Cole performed at North Carolina’s Dreamville Festival yesterday (April 7) and had a ton of surprises in store. Throughout his set, he brought out several special guests, like Jeremih, 6LACK, Lil Yachty, Central Cee, and more. He also addressed the fact that he dissed Kendrick Lamar on “7 Minute Drill” recently, apologizing and taking the blame.
In total, J. Cole performed a stacked 26 songs between his biggest solo hits and covering tracks from other artists, making it well worth it for fans who were there to watch him.

J. Cole took the stage at Dreamville Music Festival in North Carolina on Sunday, April 7, where he used part of his set to address regret about dissing Kendrick Lamar in his recent song, “7 Minute Drill.” He had initially dropped it after Lamar’s verse on Future and Metro Boomin’s “Like That.”
“It’s one part of that sh*t that makes me feel like, man that’s the lamest sh*t I did in my f*ckin’ life, right?” J. Cole said. “And I know this is not what a lot of people want to hear… I just want to come up here and publicly be like, bruh, that was the lamest, goofiest sh*t. I say all that to say it made me feel like 10 years ago when I was moving incorrectly. And I pray that god will line me back up on my purpose and on my path.”
J. Cole then went on to point out just how talented Lamar actually is — and talked to the crowd directly who felt the same. “I want to say right now tonight, how many people think Kendrick Lamar is one of the greatest motherf*cker’s to ever touch a f*ckin’ microphone?” he added. “Dreamville, y’all love Kendrick Lamar, correct? As do I.”
The tension between J. Cole and Lamar, according to Variety, first started when Drake and J. Cole collaborated on “First Person Shooter” — and included a line calling him out in the process. Unlike J. Cole, in the days following Lamar making waves with “Like That,” Drake has not really responded.

Hollywood doesn’t have many “guarantees,” but there is one certainty that will always prevail: every successful franchise will be rebooted, revived, or remade at some point. Most recently, that includes the new Road House starring Jake Gyllenhaal, yet if we’re being more optimistic and longevity minded, then Cobra Kai remains the contemporary template for harnessing both nostalgia and appeal for new generations, and for a reimagining, Donald Glover’s Mr. and Mrs. Smith can provide inspiration. Can Black Panther writer and director Ryan Coogler hope to hit these latter two high bars with his planned reboot of The X-Files and also avoid the unimpressed reactions already being directed towards the upcoming reboot of The Crow?
The truth is out there somewhere. Fox Mulder would want us to believe, after all. Let’s get down to extraterrestrial business on what we know so far.
Plot
The X-Files reigned as a 1990s sci-fi monarch and ran for eleven seasons (including a two-season continuation beginning in 2016) and multiple movies. The series honed the Unresolved Sexual Tension for as long as it could hold out, and the FOX audience tuned in weekly for Fox Mulder (David Duchovny) and Dana Scully’s (Gillian Anderson) believer-skeptic/special-agent dynamic.
How would a reboot go, and where will it land?
Coogler currently has a five-year deal with Walt Disney Television, so this series will remain in the original family. However, Variety reports that this show will probably land on Hulu, given the Disney acquisition of 21st Century Fox, which produced and propelled the original series to its FOX home. Additionally, series original creator Chris Carter has given his blessing to the project: “I just spoke to a young man, Ryan Coogler, who is going to remount ‘The X-Files’ with a diverse cast. So he’s got his work cut out for him, because we covered so much territory.”
While speaking to Inverse, Carter mentioned that the reboot will be especially difficult because, these days, “Everything’s a conspiracy… No one knows what the truth is. It’s completely subjective and relative now.” However, Carter sounds confident in Coogler’s vision:
“I just asked him what his ideas were, and he told me, and I said, ‘Those sound like good ideas,’” Carter said. “No matter what, he’s got a hard job. Casting is a hard job. Mounting it is a hard job. All the problems that I dealt with are going to be his problems.”
Cast
Officially, this category remains a mystery. A promising tidbit has arrived, however, from Gillian Anderson, who has always been resistant to the idea of joining a reboot until she heard about Coogler’s involvement. This month, Anderson told TODAY that she finds Coogler to be a “brilliant, brilliant director,” and “I cannot think of a better way around for a reboot to happen. I think he’s a bit of a genius.” She added that for Coogler, “I’m not saying no — because I think [he] is really cool, and I think if he did it, it would probably be done incredibly well, and maybe I’ll pop in for a little somethin-somethin.”
There’s also no telling whether frequent Coogler collaborator Michael B. Jordan will be involved in any way following their Fruitvale Station, Black Panther, and Creed eras. But admit it, Coogler devotees would not be mad if this development happened.
Release Date
Since these are early days for the project, the soonest we will see a potential release is 2025.

A trailer? No way. The best we can hope for at this stage is that Coogler will write in a reference to the death of a character, who is maybe Fox Mulder, from autoerotic asphyxiation — just like Clyde Bruckman prophesied.

He finally did it. After Kendrick Lamar wrapped up March by dissing Drake and J. Cole on “Like That,” Cole fired back. He dropped Might Delete Later, a surprise mixtape featuring “7 Minute Drill,” on which Cole delivers jabs like saying Kendrick “fell off like The Simpsons.” If this seems corny, well, Cole agrees, as he shared at his festival over the weekend that he’d be removing the song from streaming.
Doja Cat — “Masc” Feat. Teezo Touchdown
More Scarlet is here! Doja just dropped the new deluxe edition (which ended up being officially titled Scarlet 2 Claude), and among the highlights is the Teezo Touchdown-featuring “Masc,” which features some clever turns of phrase from Doja, like, “You gave me the dick, then gave the dick without the D.”
GloRilla — “Wanna Be” Feat. Megan Thee Stallion
GloRilla just dropped her new Ehhthang Ehhthang mixtape, calling for a big hip-hop collab (between Nicki Minaj and Cardi B) on “Aite.” She went ahead and made one happen herself, though, on “Wanna Be,” which sees her teaming up with Megan Thee Stallion.
Charli XCX — “B2B”
The Brat era is approaching, and Charli XCX has made it clear that she’s veering away from the straightforward pop of her 2022 album Crash. That’s true on the two new songs she dropped last week, which are better suited for a sweaty night in the club than pop radio.
Kehlani — “After Hours”
After teasing an upbeat new album for this year, it looks like Kehlani is starting to deliver on that, as “After Hours” indicates. The tune samples the drums from Nina Sky’s 2004 favorite “Move Ya Body,” and she told Zane Lowe of that artistic decision, “Because those drums, when they drop, it’s so recognizable and everybody just loses it. It’s one of those things where it drops and everybody goes, ‘Woo,’ and bends their knees and puts their hands on their knees.”
Bryson Tiller — “The Multiverse Freestyle”
Video game design might be in Bryson Tiller’s future, but for now, he’s sticking to music with the self-titled album he just released. It’s his first project since 2020’s Anniversary, and he confidently sounds like he never left on “The Multiverse Freestyle.”
Conan Gray — “Fainted Love”
Conan Gray has gone all in on the ’80s for his new album, Found Heaven. It’s not a low-effort nostalgia grab, either, as Gray has done an exemplary job at bringing the decade’s synth sounds to modern day on songs like “Fainted Love.”
Khruangbin — “Hold Me Up (Thank You)”
Khruangbin’s A LA SALA is out now, and they blessed the release with a delightful video for “Hold Me Up (Thank You),” starring an industrious chinchilla (sorry, a “Khruangchilla”).
Vampire Weekend — “Prep-School Gangsters”
On the latest episode of the Indiecast podcast, Steven Hyden and Ian Cohen discuss how the new Vampire Weekend album Only God Was Above Us changes the band’s sound just enough while staying true to the core of what they’re about, which songs like “Prep-School Gangsters” evidence.
NxWorries — “86Sentra”
Anderson .Paak and Knxwledge have been teasing a return of their duo NxWorries and actually manifested it in 2022 with a one-off single. At last, though, the news fans have been waiting for is here: A new album is finally on the way. The two introduced it to the world last week with “86Sentra,” which Uproxx’s Aaron Williams describes as having “a groovy, bass-driven beat, and scintillating, swaggering verses from .Paak in classic rap braggart mode.”

After forty years of hosting the classic game show, Pat Sajak announced that this season of Wheel of Fortune will be his last. Unlike the scandal on Jeopardy!, finding a replacement was a relatively drama-free process as Ryan Seacrest was tapped to be the new host. While the idea to leave is tempting, Vanna White is going to stay on Wheel of Fortune where she’s become just as iconic a fixture as Sajak. (A long overdue pay raise didn’t hurt either.)
As for the exact date of Sajak’s last episode, Sony Pictures Television has kept that information under its hat — until now. The beloved host’s final episode of Wheel of Fortune has been confirmed, and we have the details.
When Will Pat Sajak’s Last ‘Wheel Of Fortune’ Episode Be?
According to Deadline, Pat Sajak’s final episode will air on Friday, June 7. His last time spinning the wheel was reportedly filmed last week, marking the end of an iconic run that started back in 1981:
He originally was recruited by creator Merv Griffin to take over for the outgoing Chuck Woolery, having already hosted two unscripted game pilots called Press Your Luck and Puzzlers. In the 1980s, Sajak did double duty, hosting a daytime version on NBC and a syndicated version in the evening. When the show hit its 36th in 2018, Sajak became the longest-running host of any game show, surpassing The Price Is Right‘s Bob Barker.
Sajak will walk away from his iconic Wheel of Fortune hosting gig with three Emmy awards under his belt and a Lifetime Achievement Award from the TV Academy that he was awarded in 2011.
First, there was The Godfather trilogy. Then nothing for decades until X… then Pearl… and now, finally, MaXXXine.
The third film in Ti West’s A24 trilogy continues to follow the pornographic career of Maxine, played by Mia Goth (who should have been nominated for an Oscar for Pearl), as she moves to Los Angeles in the 1980s to become a Hollywood actress. But her path to stardom includes a run in with a private detective and, possibly, serial killer the Night Stalker.

MaXXXine, which also stars Elizabeth Debicki, Moses Sumney, Michelle Monaghan, Bobby Cannavale, Lily Collins, Halsey, Giancarlo Esposito, and Kevin Bacon, opens in theaters on July 5.
Country music star Morgan Wallen was arrested on Sunday night for allegedly throwing a chair off the sixth floor of Eric Church’s Chief’s Bar in Nashville, Tennessee. “At 10:53p Sunday evening Morgan Wallen was arrested in downtown Nashville for reckless endangerment and disorderly conduct. He is cooperating fully with authorities,” his attorney, Worrick Robinson, confirmed in a statement to Billboard.
According to an arrest report obtained by local News Channel 5, “some Metro Nashville police officers were standing in front of Chief’s Bar on Broadway Sunday night when a chair fell from above them, hitting the ground just feet from where they were standing.” After staff members of Chief’s (which opened its doors on Friday) identified Wallen as the chair tosser, the report reads, authorities obtained video of “lunging and throwing an object over the roof.”
The “Last Night” singer was reportedly seen laughing afterwards.
Wallen was arrested and charged with three felony counts of reckless endangerment and one misdemeanor count of disorderly conduct. His bond was set at $15,250 and he was released jail around 3:30 a.m local time. His court date is on May 3, the same day he’s scheduled to play Nashville’s Nissan Stadium as part of the One Night at a Time World Tour.
