Kid Cudi broke his foot while performing at the second weekend of Coachella 2024, but his sense of humor is intact, at least.

“Hey, guys, yeah, sh*t got real yesterday,” Cudi said in a video posted to X (formerly Twitter) on Monday morning, April 22. “This is what happens when a 40-year-old man tries to prance around off stage like he’s 26 — like he used to do back in the day. I learned a valuable lesson: No more prancing around, jumping off stages.”

Cudi went on to explain that he’s “hoping” to be “healed up” in time for his Insano World Tour, which is scheduled to begin on June 28.

“I don’t want to let you guys down,” he said. “That’s what we’re aiming for. Not canceling anything just yet. Just gonna wait and see how things go, but I’m OK. A little sore. Yesterday, [I was in] a lot of pain, but I’m doing better now. I have a little temporary cast on now, and I gotta go get a real cast in a little bit. Apparently, I broke something in my heel. This is a major setback, but don’t worry. I’ma bounce back. I love y’all. All day. Engage the rage. But not at 40.”

Hopefully, Cudi wasn’t planning on getting married to Lola Abecassis Sartore — his newly announced fiancée — in the immediate future because a broken heel might complicate walking down the aisle.

Sega Bodega had one more single in his back pocket ahead of releasing Dennis, his album due out on Friday, April 26, and he deployed it this morning (April 22). The Paris-based artist and producer has dropped “True” alongside a lyric video.

The songs sets a delicate tone to start, with Bodega singing, “True little angel, hold me / Keep it true / Little angel told me / What to do.” Drums enter for a more ominous feel, and Bodega’s vocals are hushed in delivery but clear in message: “I cannot promise you a single thing, but I’ll try.” As the song progresses, the beat speeds up to create a sense of urgency.

“The intention with this album was to create a feeling of being as disorientated as I was for the past couple of years,” Bodega said of Dennis in a press release statement. “With AI and technology moving as fast as it is, I can imagine the possibility of making ‘worlds’ with ‘people’ inside who don’t know they’re not real. Who’s to say that I’m not already one of them?”

Prior to “True,” Bodega released “Kepko,” “Elk Skin,” and “Set Me Free, I’m An Animal.” The album’s vinyl release is set for May 6, but you can pre-order it here.

The 2024 New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival is set to begin this Thursday, April 25, with over 100 acts from across a massive spectrum of styles and sounds. Known as Jazz Fest, the festival is one of the longest-running music festivals in the US, stretching from its foundation in 1970 to 2019. After a two-year hiatus due to COVID-19 in 2020 and 2021, it returned in 2022, bigger and better than ever.

The nonprofit organization The New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival and Foundation Inc. puts on the festival every year to redistribute the funds it generates to the local community while it “promotes, preserves, perpetuates and encourages the music, culture and heritage of communities in Louisiana through festivals, programs and other cultural, educational, civic and economic activities.”

The festivities will be held at Fair Grounds Race Course from Thursday to Sunday with a lineup including The Rolling Stones, Foo Fighters, Chris Stapleton, Neil Young and Crazy Horse, The Killers, Hozier, Vampire Weekend, Anderson .Paak & The Free Nationals, Queen Latifah, Jon Batiste, and many, many more, including local acts like Big Freedia, Trombone Shorty & Orleans Avenue, and Juvenile with Mannie Fresh. An abundance of movie franchises and TV shows are spinning off or rebooting with increasing frequency. So, it was only a matter of time before The Office resurrected itself for a new (U.S.-based) incarnation, too.

That development began to make headlines in January, which is when the Puck newsletter began to pass on speculation and then Deadline reported that series co-creator Greg Daniels had put together “a development room with his trusted writers” to plot the next step in this world. The plan, at the time, was apparently not to reboot the Dunder Mifflin cast and setting but to set a same-world story “in a new office with new characters,” so get ready for a whole new crop of faces.

That is, get ready to wait and see if this project comes to fruition with a series order, but it sounds like it will, and Deadline now reports that casting is starting to come together. Domhnall Gleeson (known for his work in the Harry Potter and Star Wars worlds along with turns in The Patient and Ex Machina) and Sabrina Impacciatore (an Italian actress who recently made waves with the The White Lotus audience) are the first names in the mix:

The potential new Greg Daniels and Michael Koman comedy series in The Office universe has locked in its first two stars: Domhnall Gleeson (The Patient) and Sabrina Impacciatore (White Lotus), who will be part of an ensemble, sources close to production tell Deadline. Details regarding their roles are under wraps. The Office studio Universal Television declined to comment, other than to confirm that the project remains in development.

Daniels is collaborating upon the new show’s development with Nathan For You co-creator Michael Koman. Presumably, the mockumentary feel of the franchise will continue, although surely, we can expect some adjustments to update the offshoot for current TV audiences.

One of the best TV shows of the year comes to an end this week.

Episode 10 of FX‘s tragic and epic Shōgun, “A Dream of a Dream,” will be available to watch at 12 a.m. EST on Tuesday, April 23, for Hulu subscribers, followed by an FX broadcast at 10 p.m. EST later that day. Here’s the official logline: “In the wake of a tragic death, Blackthorne finally considers the true nature of Toranaga’s plan.” The episode was written by Maegan Houang and Emily “Mother of Blankies” Yoshida, and directed by Frederick Toye.

Episode 10 is the season finale — is it also the series finale?

“We took the story to the end of the book and put a period at the end of that sentence,” co-creator Justin Marks previously told The Hollywood Reporter. “We love how the book ends; it was one of the reasons why we both knew we wanted to do it — and we ended in exactly that place.”

He continued, “You know, we also made this show so long ago, because of the long tail of postproduction on it. It’s not like a normal TV series, where if we were in a situation like this promoting it, we wouldn’t just be in the writers room already, we’d be on set shooting season two by now.”

That sounds like a “it’s done” to me. Enjoy Shōgun while you can, folks.

Coachella 2024 is in the books and Coachella 2025 is already in the works, but if you happened to miss both weekends of this year’s festival — or just want to relive your favorite sets — where can get your ‘Chella fix for the time being?

Well, right now, Coachella’s YouTube channel is currently replaying Weekend 2’s full slate of performances and will continue for the rest of the day. Meanwhile, the channel also bears a selection of individual song performances from across the festival, with moments from Sabrina Carpenter, Lil Uzi Vert, Blur, Sublime, Reneé Rapp, Justice, Jon Batiste, Ice Spice, Bleachers, Coi Leray, and many, many more.

Weekend two proved to be just as eventful as the first, with Friday night headliner Lana Del Rey bringing out Camila Cabello to perform “I Luv It,” Lil Uzi Vert showing off their fabulous new Birkin bag, Chlöe announcing her second album Trouble In Paradise, Damon Albarn seemingly announcing Blur’s retirement, and Kid Cudi breaking his foot while raging at his surprise set at the Outdoor Theatre stage.

Jack Black is the undisputed King of the Video Game Movie. He’s the voice of Bowser in The Super Mario Bros. Movie, and he’ll soon play Claptrap in Borderlands and Steve (recently voted one of the most iconic video game characters of all-time) in Minecraft. If Black has his way, maybe he’ll voice a horse (that gets punched, naturally) in Red Dead Redemption: The Movie.

Black isn’t the only video game royalty, however.

Ella Purnell is getting rave reviews for her starring role in Amazon Prime Video’s Fallout, where she plays Lucy alongside Walton Ghoulgins. It’s her second critically-acclaimed video game show: she also voiced Jinx in Netflix’s Arcane, the first streaming series to win a Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Animated Program. Arcane and Fallout are two of the four best-reviewed video game shows on Rotten Tomatoes, with the former getting a perfect 100 percent “Fresh” rating (Fallout isn’t far behind with a 96 percent).

It’s rare to star in one good video game adaptation, let alone two. Let’s recognize Purnell for what she is: the Queen of the Video Game Show.

Victor Wembanyama’s rookie year started as a slow burn, with the Spurs allowing him to get his feet wet before shifting too much responsibility onto his shoulders. There were flashes of brilliance, but it wasn’t until the calendar flipped to 2024 that the training wheels were removed and the Spurs started to really figure out what exactly they had.

The answer was one of the best players in the NBA already. While still a bit raw, his combination of length, quickness, and fluidity makes him a two-way force the likes of which the league has never really seen. On offense, he regularly pulled off moves that a 7’3 man shouldn’t be able to, leaving defenders trying to figure out what exactly just happened. However, for all his exploits on that end, where he left his mark was on the defensive end, becoming the most feared shot blocker in the NBA.

Wembanyama led the league with 3.6 blocks per game (1.2 more per game than second place), and tacked on 1.2 steals per game. Even funnier was how often players refused to even try a shot near him, with clips going viral every few games of players refusing to even look at the rim because Wembanyama was in or near the paint. His reputation built itself quickly, and even though other players tend to be skeptics about how good rookies actually are, by the end of the season you couldn’t find anyone willing to question his defensive greatness.

Further proving how much respect Wembanyama has garnered from his peers, The Athletic unveiled their annual player’s poll, in which 15.2 percent of the 132 players that answered called Wembanyama the best defender in the league already.

That beat out Jrue Holiday (who is always beloved by his fellow players for his defensive work) and Lu Dort (who is the leader of OKC’s incredible defense) for the most votes in the poll, and maybe we shouldn’t be surprised if he goes on to win Defensive Player of the Year right alongside the Rookie of the Year award. The question is whether media voters were swayed in the same way as the players, or if Rudy Gobert will take home his fourth DPOY (to the chagrin of his fellow players who voted the Minnesota center as the most overrated player in the league).

Grimes addressed the elephant in the room. During Coachella 2024 Weekend 1, Grimes made headlines for all the wrong reasons after “technical issues” led to a set universally labeled as disastrous. The DJ immediately posted a lengthy apology on X (formerly Twitter), promising, “I will personally organize all the files next week. I will not let such a thing happen again.”

On Saturday, April 20, Grimes made good on her promise.

She introduced her second-weekend set with a video mocking her first weekend. Grimes later posted the two-minute “Breaking News”-style video on X. In it, a news anchor states, “They’re calling it the worst disaster in Coachella history.” Later, masked figures labeled as “anonymous witnesses” by the newscast say, “Bruh, she can’t DJ,” and “I’m telling you, dogg, this sh*t was the machines; her A.I. sh*t, it’s fighting back.” The video then cut to a building labeled “GRIMES CORP,” where Grimes was seen lying in a hospital bed as a narrator said, “The artist is now said to be recovering from severe trauma in an undisclosed location.” While a “full-scale investigation” is underway, Grimes’ equipment was transported by people in hazmat suits with the utmost care.

According to setlist.fm, Grimes’ set lasted for 16 songs. Two days before her Weekend 2 set, Grimes wrote on X, “I will cap the disarray at a maximum ten seconds per song — idk if there’s even been a more rehearsed or fine-tuned Grimes set.”

Yesterday (April 21) was the final day of Coachella 2024. You know what that means: Time to start thinking about Coachella 2025! I’m only half-joking: While most of this year’s attendees probably want a minute to unwind from the 2024 festivities, Coachella organizers are already gearing up for 2025. In fact, mere hours ago, the dates for next year’s festival were announced.

When Do Tickets For Coachella 2025 Go On Sale?

Next year’s festival starts with Weekend 1 on April 11 to 13, 2025, followed by Weekend 2 on April 18 to 20, 2025. As for tickets, the earliest opportunity to get those will be during the Advance Sale, which starts on May 3. There’s not much specific information available about the Advance Sale as of this post, but keep an eye on Coachella’s socials and their website for more info.

Beyond ticket sales, there are some other information drops to look forward to as well. None of those have been announced yet, but we can look to historical precedent to estimate when some things might start happening. For instance, this year’s Coachella lineup was announced in January, so it wouldn’t be surprising for the 2025 lineup to arrive that January, too. Meanwhile, assuming ticket pricing stays mostly the same between this year and next, the 2024 prices could be indicative of what to expect next year.
