What Are The Dates For Coachella 2025?

2022 Coachella Valley Music And Arts Festival - Weekend 2 - Day 1
Getty Image

Coachella 2024 closed less than 12 hours ago. Headliners Doja Cat, Lana Del Rey, and Tyler The Creator delivered, as captured in photos by Uproxx’s Philip Cosores, and Sabrina Carpenter edited her outro of “Nonsense” to tease, “Coachella, see you back here when I headline.” There’s a substantial wait before the Coachella 2025 headliners are announced, but the annual festival wasted no time in announcing its 2025 dates.

What Are The Dates For Coachella 2025?

Early Monday morning, April 22, Coachella confirmed that Coachella 2025 will kick off with Weekend 1 on April 11 to 13, 2025 and return for Weekend 2 on April 18 to 20, 2025. The festival will, yet again, happen at the Empire Polo Club in Indio, California. According to Coachella’s announcement, the Advance Sale for 2025 tickets begins on Friday, May 3.

Using the past as the guide, Coachella 2025 lineup, including the headliners, will probably be announced in January 2025.

Prices for 2024 tickets will probably be instructive for 2025 prices, and General Admission three-day passes were listed as follows for this year’s festival: Tier 1 ($499 plus fees), Tier 2 ($549 plus fees), and Tier 3 ($599 plus fees). VIP weekend passes were also offered in two tiers — Tier 1 ($1,069 plus fees) and Tier 2 ($1,269 plus fees).

Learn more about Coachella 2025’s Advance Sale and past ticket prices by visiting Coachella’s official website here.

All The Best New Music From This Week That You Need To Hear

bnm feat
Getty Image/Derrick Rossignol

Keeping up with new music can be exhausting, even impossible. From the weekly album releases to standalone singles dropping on a daily basis, the amount of music is so vast it’s easy for something to slip through the cracks. Even following along with the Uproxx recommendations on a daily basis can be a lot to ask, so every Monday we’re offering up this rundown of the best new music this week.

This week saw Taylor Swift dominate the world per usual and other people do some other stuff, too, I suppose. Yeah, it was a great week for new music. Check out the highlights below.

For more music recommendations, check out our Listen To This section, as well as our Indie Mixtape and Pop Life newsletters.

Taylor Swift — “Fortnight” Feat. Post Malone

It’s possible you heard that Taylor Swift released a new album last week, The Tortured Poets Department. She’s not somebody who needs help, but she and Post Malone sure sound like a natural pairing on “Fortnight,” one of the album’s few collaborations.

Drake — “Push Ups”

You’ve already heard “Push Ups” if you’re keeping up with all hip-hop beef news, but if you’re a streaming-only listener, Drake just dropped his recent diss track onto streaming platforms. He used the occasion to get one more dig at Kendrick Lamar in, too, with a cover art gag.

Nas and DJ Premier — “Define My Name”

Nas’ Illmatic is official 30 years old as of this past Friday. Nas celebrated in part by linking up with DJ Premier on “Define My Name,” which it turns out is just the first taste of a new collaborative album from the two that’s set to drop later this year.

Jamie xx — “Baddy On The Floor” Feat. Honey Dijon

The xx is working on new music (although we’ve heard that before). Whatever the case, Jamie xx has kept fans fed with periodic releases. He came through last week with the Honey Dijon collab “Baddy On The Floor,” an infectious dance groove that’ll make anybody feel like a baddy, on the floor or elsewhere.

Nicki Minaj — “FTCU (Sleezemix)” Feat. Travis Scott, Chris Brown, and Sexyy Red

For weeks, there has been word of a new remix of Nicki Minaj’s “FTCU” featuring Sexyy Red. Well, it turns out that was underselling it: The “Sleezemix” is out now and also in the fold are Travis Scott and Chris Brown.

Pearl Jam — “Wreckage”

At least one “Barbenheimer” meme made the rounds in light of Taylor Swift and Pearl Jam dropping new albums on the same day. While the two projects may not have a ton in common aesthetically, there are moments on both projects that see the artists at their best, and “Wreckage” is a nostalgic-sounding example for Pearl Jam.

Hozier — “Why Would You Be Loved”

Hozier has been absolutely crushing it lately, as single “Too Sweet” is his biggest song to date, peaking at No. 2 on the latest Billboard Hot 100 chart. Now he also has a fresh reissue of 2019’s Wasteland, Baby!, which includes the bonus track “Why Would You Be Loved.”

DJ Snake and Peso Pluma — “Teka”

Peso Pluma was a highlight of Coachella 2024 for Uproxx’s Aaron Smarter, and it seems DJ Snake would agree. The producer linked up with Pluma last week for “Teka,” a club-ready banger that doesn’t lose site of Pluma’s Mexican roots.

Lola Brooke — “Neighborhood Hero”

After her 2023 debut album Dennis Daughter put her on the map, Brooke is commemorating the release with a new deluxe addition. Among the bonus offerings on the expanded LP is “Neighborhood Hero,” a lushly produced number that sees Brooke asserting herself.

Fontaines DC — “Starbuster”

Fontaines DC have become consistent rock favorites over the past half-decade and there’s more where that came from as the band announced its fourth album, Romance, last week. “Starburster” has a strong alternative bend to it and is an adventurous and tense number that keeps you delightfully on edge.

Sydney Sweeney Jokingly Apologized For Having ‘Great T*ts’ After A Producer Said She’s ‘Not Pretty’ And ‘Can’t Act’

sydney sweeney
nbc

Sydney Sweeney‘s grandparents think she has “the best t*ts in Hollywood,” and now she has the sweatshirt to prove it.

Over the weekend, the Anyone But You actress shared a collection of photos from her vacation on Instagram, including one where she’s wearing a sweatshirt that reads “Sorry For Having Great Tits In Hollywood.” In another, a good dog is wearing a hat. Equally important.

The sweatshirt could be a response to the Hollywood producer who said that Sweeney “isn’t pretty” and “can’t act.” During a discussion with New York Times film critic Janet Maslin, Carol Baum, who worked on films like Dead Ringers and Father of the Bride and is now an adjunct professor at the University of Southern California, said, “I said to my class, ‘Explain this girl to me. She’s not pretty, she can’t act. Why is she so hot?’ Nobody had an answer.”

Sweeney responded to Baum’s comments through her representatives (and her sweatshirt?). “How sad that a woman in the position to share her expertise and experience chooses instead to attack another woman,” the statement reads. “If that’s what she’s learned in her decades in the industry and feels is appropriate to teach to her students, that’s shameful. To unjustly disparage a fellow female producer speaks volumes about Ms. Baum’s character.”

The First ‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ Trailer Fight Shows Claws Going Straight In The Merc With The Mouth’s #*&@

The first full Deadpool & Wolverine trailer is out, and if you expected the fighting to play by the MCU’s rules, oh boy. This will be an R-rated affair, after all, and the MCU is clearly in need of some resurrection, so these two mutants are going to enjoy playing with expectations.

After a teaser that landed during the Super Bowl, it was clear that Deadpool intended to toss the Fourth Wall at the MCU. He proclaimed himself to be “Marvel Jesus” and more, but of course, the comic book-movie world already knows that the two title characters of this movie will cross paths, so what will happen during that fateful meeting?

Apparently, Wolverine’s claws go straight for Deadpool’s crotch. Perhaps elsewhere, too? Let’s not think about that too much. From the synopsis:

Wolverine is recovering from his injuries when he crosses paths with the loudmouth, Deadpool. They team up to defeat a common enemy.

Actually, let’s step back for a moment. Sure, there’s a “common enemy” in a straight-up literal sense within the plot. Yet this synopsis might be irrelevant because — let’s face it — the real task here is to reinvigorate the MCU and make people excited to go see comic book movies in theaters again. If anyone can shake things up and accomplish that task, it’s certainly Wade Wilson. Fortunately, Logan/James Howlett is along for the ride, too. They might not enjoy working together, but as the Cabaret line goes (and I’m paraphrasing here) that’s show business, baby!

Deadpool & Wolverine arrives in theaters on July 16.

It Turns Out Kid Cudi Broke His Foot During A Nasty Fall At Coachella’s Second Weekend

Going into the second weekend of Coachella 2024 this past weekend, Kid Cudi was one of the big surprises, as he was added to the lineup days before. It turns out the performance had a surprise for Cudi, too.

Fan-shot videos show Cudi attempting to hop off the stage and get closer to the crowd. He stepped carefully making his way to the ledge, but when he jumped off, he landed on his right foot wrong and appeared to have rolled an ankle. That put an end to Cudi’s night as he ended up being helped away from the stage, holding his right foot up.

The injury ended up being more than just a rolled ankle: Hours later, Cudi tweeted, “Hey guys, so I broke my foot today at the show. [face palm emoji] just leavin the hospital. Never broken a bone before so this is all a bit crazy. I wanna thank u all for ur concerns and well wishes!! I love yall man. I heard yall still ragin when I was offstage. Made me smile big.”

It remains to be seen if Cudi’s injury will have an impact on his upcoming Insano World Tour, which is currently set to kick off in late June.

Here’s Who Will (And Who Won’t) Get Inducted Into The Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame In 2024

Mary J Blige Today Show 2023
Getty Image

In February, the nominees for the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame’s 2024 class were revealed. It was a stacked and diverse roster, featuring everybody from Mariah Carey to Ozzy Osbourne to A Tribe Called Quest.

Now, all the votes are in (including those of Uproxx’s own Steven Hyden), and last night (April 21), the Rock Hall revealed who’s getting in this year. The list is as follows:

Performer Category

Mary J. Blige
Cher
Dave Matthews Band
Foreigner
Peter Frampton
Kool & The Gang
Ozzy Osbourne
A Tribe Called Quest

Musical Influence Award

Alexis Korner
John Mayall
Big Mama Thornton

Musical Excellence Award

Jimmy Buffett
MC5
Dionne Warwick
Norman Whitfield

Ahmet Ertegun Award

Suzanne de Passe

The “performer” inductees are the ones selected by Rock Hall voters, while the other honors are doled out by the Rock Hall themselves.

As for nominees who didn’t end up get the votes for induction this year, that list includes Mariah Carey, Jane’s Addiction, Sade, Sinead O’Connor, Oasis, Lenny Kravitz, and Eric B. & Rakim.

Liam Gallagher presumably won’t be too upset about Oasis not making the cut this time around. After his band’s nomination was announced, he tweeted, “F*ck the Rock n Roll hall of fame its full of BUMBACLARTS,” as well as other things like, “I don’t need some wank award by some geriatric in a cowboy hat.”

Swerve Strickland Is The New AEW World Champion

GLvZJ51XIAATCaG
AEW

Swerve Strickland is the first Black AEW World Champion after defeating Samoa Joe at AEW Dynasty Sunday night in St. Louis.

Strickland made his entrance paying homage to the Black Panther series before Joe hit the ring to defend his belt.

Joe tried everything — slamming Swerve on the exposed floor, landing the Muscle Buster, and even tried grabbing the title to put the challenger away. But Swerve kept fighting back. He hit a 450 splash onto Joe’s head, then landed a Swerve Stomp for two.

Joe locked in the Coquina Clutch, but Swerve was able to escape. Swerve powerbombed Joe off the middle turnbuckle, landed the Swerve Stomp and captured the championship.

The win comes just over two years since Strickland’s AEW debut. At the time, Swerve had been released from WWE months prior and came to AEW with a chip on his shoulder.

“That left a big chip on my shoulder to prove it was one of the biggest mistakes you could have made,” Strickland told Uproxx Sports last year about his WWE release. “Doing all these big arenas and being featured in a lot of different, very unique ways and being able to do the music crossover and show them that was one of the biggest mistakes you made, but you can’t have it back now. You can’t make up for that now and I’m creating something that’s even bigger than what you expected of me over there. I’m really blessed in that department. I want to not just give back to them, but I want to showcase, I want to exceed the expectations of me here at AEW as well.”

Swerve’s run to the top began with an opportunity to showcase his talents at Wembley stadium against Sting and Darby Allin last year, and continued to build momentum in a blistering rivalry against Hangman Adam Page. After Page took the pinfall loss against Joe at AEW Revolution in March, Swerve’s first shot at the world championship in a singles match came Sunday night.

The Thunder Survived A Scare To Get A Game 1 Win Over The Pelicans

shai gilgeous alexander herb jones

The Oklahoma City Thunder put together a phenomenal and surprising season to earn the 1-seed in the Western Conference, but for just about the entire roster, the playoffs were an unknown territory. Their first round matchup is with the New Orleans Pelicans, and the two teams lived up to their billing as defensive-minded teams in the opener, as the Thunder escaped with a 94-92 Game 1 win in an absolute rock fight in OKC.

Offense was hard to come by all night for both teams, as the Thunder shot 43.5 percent from the field and 31.3 percent from three, which was better than New Orleans’ 38.5/28.2 shooting split on the evening. The way the Pelicans hung in the game was on the offensive glass (18 offensive boards to eight from OKC), where they dominated early to get second chance opportunities and also limited the Thunder’s ability to push the pace in transition.

The two teams were tied at 43 after two quarters, as there were playoff jitters from both teams on offense as well as just some incredible defensive lineups thrown out there by both coaches. The second half saw the Thunder look like they were getting set to run away, as a Chet Holmgren three in the fourth quarter put OKC up by 10 with 10 minutes to play.

However, the Pelicans had a response, as they whittled away at the lead in the middle of the quarter, with CJ McCollum and Brandon Ingram finally finding a little life to give the Pelicans a 90-88 lead.

The game got funky and tense from there. It started with a horrific challenge by the Mark Daigneault turning a jump ball between Holmgren and Larry Nance Jr. into the Pelicans ball. However, he got bailed out by a Holmgren block that kept the deficit at just two.

From there, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, who had an off night to his standards to that point, took over and reminded everyone why he’s a finalist for MVP and Clutch Player of the Year. First, he tied the game with a pull-up over Herb Jones.

New Orleans followed that up with a possession in which they grabbed four offensive rebounds, but followed each of them with an increasingly difficult shot before the Thunder finally gained possession themselves. The Thunder got the ball to SGA on a switch against McCollum, and he put in a go-ahead and-1 bucket.

That proved to be the difference in the game. A McCollum midrange bucket was followed up by Holmgren splitting free throws, leaving the Pelicans with 14 seconds left to draw up a game-tying shot or a game-winner. New Orleans opted to let McCollum go to work, but he go clamped up by Cason Wallace and could only muster a running three (that was, to his credit, on line) after getting the ball poked away.

After a day of blowouts, the tension of this game down the stretch was a welcome sight. It was what playoff basketball is supposed to be, especially between two teams still very new to this stage. Neither looked particularly comfortable, but both had their moments of brilliance in a physical, grind-it-out affair.

Gilgeous-Alexander finished with a game-high 28 points, while Holmgren added 15 points, 11 boards, and five blocks, and Jalen Williams gave OKC a jolt with 19 points. On the other side, it was Trey Murphy III that had the high scoring mark with 21 points, including 5-of-12 from three (no one else made more than two). McCollum finished with 20 points but needed 22 shots to get there, while Ingram had just 12 points on 17 attempts, as Luguentz Dort gave him fits all night.

It’ll be interesting to see what adjustments come out of this game from both teams. The Pelicans will feel like they’ve got a great defensive gameplan, but will have to figure out how to get Ingram and McCollum freed up a bit more from the Thunder’s own lockdown defenders. OKC, meanwhile, will look to get better three-point shooting and could make some rotation adjustments to get more floor-spacing out there. Truly, whichever team figures out how to keep their defensive intensity high while calming things down on offense will gain an upper had, as it was a bit sloppy for both sides.

Tyler The Creator Confessed To Being A Bit ‘Jealous Of’ Doja Cat’s Wig-Filled Set Design At Coachella 2024

Coachella is arguably one of the biggest festival stages in music. Each year, the pressure is on for each featured headliner to put on a show worth trucking out to the desert. For 2024, Lana Del Rey, Doja Cat, and Tyler The Creator held the marquee position.

Both Doja and Tyler’s set have earned a stellar review from Uproxx‘s hip-hop editor Aaron Williams. However, Tyler might’ve declared Doja the weekend’s true MVP. Yesterday (April 20), during his final headlining set, Tyler admitted that he was a bit envious of Doja Cat’s production set up for her performance.

“I was with Doja Cat yesterday,” he said. “And I told her,’I’m jealous that you have backup dancers. N****. Just a bunch of sweaty n****s onstage with you, helping you look sweaty. F*ck. She got the wigs and sh*t. I need to do the ‘Igor’ sh*t one more time with the wig and sh*t.”

Silent House’s creative director and designer Parker Genoway, one of the creative force behind her set, spoke with Uproxx about what went into Doja’s raved about build outs.

“She was always like, ‘I want a dinosaur. I really want a dinosaur,’” he said. “And so when we started thinking about, ‘Let us work backwards. What kind of world could this be? Is this prehistoric, or is this post-apocalyptic? Has society crumbled?’… I think when I like to create a world, I want layers and I want versatility, and I want to be able to deliver a show that evolves and does not just stay the same the whole time.”

Users online went from making fun of Doja Cat’s hair to gushing over her custom hair costumes.

Damian Lillard’s 35-Point First Half Powered The Bucks To A Game 1 Win Over The Pacers

The Indiana Pacers were a trendy pick coming into their first round series with the Milwaukee Bucks, as they went 4-1 against their divisional rivals this year and the Bucks were going to be without Giannis Antetokounmpo for at least a game or two to start the series.

However, even without Giannis, the Bucks have a team of playoff veterans compared to a relatively green Pacers team, and on Sunday evening in Milwaukee, we saw that play out as the Bucks won Game 1, 109-94.

With Giannis out, all eyes were on Damian Lillard, and he happily stepped into the spotlight with one of the best halves of basketball we’ve seen in an NBA playoff game. Lillard scored 35 points in the opening 24 minutes on Sunday night, hitting 11 of his 19 shot attempts, six of which came from three-point range, and absolutely cooked the Pacers defense that was not ready to match his energy level.

Lillard nearly outscored the Pacers by himself in that first half, as for as hot as Lillard was, the Indiana offense was equally cold. Indiana was 3-of-18 from beyond the arc in the first half and just 15-of-46 from the field, as the Bucks pressure seemed to bother the Pacers (Pascal Siakam as the exception) — and even when they did get open shots, they simply could not knock them down

Siakam was the only Pacer to have anything going in the first half (and really for the whole game), as the former NBA champion was certainly not rattled by the playoff spotlight, scoring 36 on 15-of-24 shooting on the night. His effort, along with Myles Turner coming alive briefly from three-point range and T.J. McConnell attacking downhill, allowed Indiana to stay in the game and make things briefly interesting as they went on a big third quarter run, cutting the deficit to 12 going into the fourth quarter.

However, the Bucks quickly reestablished order, as Khris Middleton, Bobby Portis, and Malik Beasley all got involved to push the lead back to 22 and effectively squash Indiana’s hopes of a stunning comeback bid.

That was crucial because after being unstoppable in the first half, Lillard went scoreless in the second half as Indiana shifted their full attention to him defensively. Their ball pressure and off-ball denial was able to take him out of the game, but eventually Middleton and company were able to find their own rhythm to put the game on ice.

Middleton finished the game with 23 points and 10 rebounds, Portis added 15 points and 11 boards, and Beasley chipped in nine points off the bench. The headline of the game for Milwaukee was Dame’s first half, but the way they responded to Indiana’s third quarter run was maybe more important. With Lillard going cold and being taken out of the equation by the Pacers defense, it was critical for the Bucks to get that kind of effort from Middleton and the others.

For the Pacers, Siakam’s performance was a bright spot, as the Bucks clearly didn’t have an answer for him defensively with Giannis out. However, there has to be a bit of a concern regarding how passive Tyrese Haliburton was in his playoff debut, as he had nine points on just 4-of-7 shooting. While he did have eight assists, Haliburton’s presence was simply not felt for most of the game. An off shooting night would be one thing, but Haliburton simply wouldn’t or couldn’t get to his shot and the Pacers suffered as a result. That will be the biggest change the Pacers need in Game 2, as Haliburton will have to be far more assertive and play at the All-NBA level he showed in the regular season if Indiana is going to beat this Bucks team.
