Kendrick Perkins And Michael Wilbon Called Out ‘Frontrunner’ Heat Fans For Not Showing Up For The Play-In

heat-fans-top
ESPN

The Miami Heat are in a win and you’re in situation in the Eastern Conference. Despite Jimmy Butler being out with an injury, Miami is playing host to the Chicago Bulls on Friday night in the final game of the Eastern Conference Play-In Tournament, with the winner securing the 8-seed and a matchup with the Boston Celtics in the first round of the playoffs.

Despite the game happening in Kaseya Center, Heat fans didn’t exactly turn out in full force, which is a long-standing criticism of the fanbase. At halftime of Friday’s game, both Kendrick Perkins and Michael Wilbon of ESPN decided to take some time to call out Miami fans for not giving the team the support a game like this demands.

“It’s a close game, it’s win or go home, I’m just a little disappointed in the fanbase of the Miami Heat,” Perkins said. “It’s too many open seats in there.”

“That’s not a great fanbase at all,” Wilbon replied. “It hadn’t been. They’re frontrunners, they’re frontrunners.”

Again, this is not exactly a new critique of Miami fans, and it’s probably worth mentioning here that Wilbon is a Bulls fan who knows (as we all do) that a game at the United Center would be 100 percent sold out in this situation. Having said this, if the Heat are able to take down the Bulls and get a matchup with Boston, we’re confident that building will be packed once that series begins.

Pink Reportedly Filed Legal Paperwork To Stop Pharrell From Getting A ‘P.Inc’ Trademark

In a wild turn of events for the weekend, Pink has reportedly filed legal paperwork against Pharrell Williams through her lawyers, claiming that he should not be allowed to trademark his P.Inc business, according to Rolling Stone.

The pop star registered her stage name as a trademark officially in 2001, but feels that Pharrell’s is too similar to the sound and spelling of hers. Pink’s lawyers now are aiming to have the Trademark Trial And Appeal Board continue to oppose Pharrell’s registration, along with giving her “any and all further relief.”

“[Williams’] P.INC Mark is similar to the PINK Marks in sight, sound, meaning and commercial impression,” the filing reportedly reads. “[Williams] and [Pink’s] goods and services are identical and/or closely related… [Williams] is likely to market and promote its goods through the same channels of trade and to the same consumers as [Pink].”

However, the story doesn’t stop there. Billboard also reported that Victoria’s Secret, known for their ‘PINK’ line, isn’t too pleased with Pharrell possibly getting a trademark either. “Applicant’s mark is highly similar to, and is the phonetic equivalent of, opposer’s ‘PINK’ marks,” the company wrote in their filing against the musician.

As the outlets point out, 2024 has been a journey for Pharrell and trademarks. Chad Hugo, Pharrell’s partner in The Neptunes duo, recently filed and claimed that he “fradulently” took control of their musical trademark, despite splitting “all assets” for decades.

Neither Pharell nor Pink’s team returned Rolling Stone for a request to comment.

Will Taylor Swift Be At Coachella 2024 Weekend 2?

taylor swift
Getty Image

With weekend two of Coachella kicking off today, this year’s lineup of artists will be returning to treat a mostly-new batch of fans to all their favorite songs. However, it’s not the same festival if the headliners don’t have any surprises in store. Last week, the three main acts, Lana Del Rey, Doja Cat, and Tyler The Creator, brought out several special guests to perform with them, raising questions if they’ll be changing the people and the setlists up.

Given Del Rey is close with Taylor Swift, there has specifically been speculation online that she very well could bring the pop star out for her festival debut. In case you happened to miss it, Swift dropped her new album The Tortured Poets Department and she was even spotted around at the Coachella crowds last week.

Here’s why fans think she could be returning.

Will Taylor Swift Be At Coachella 2024 Weekend 2?

As of right now, nothing about Swift joining Del Rey as a surprise guest has been confirmed. The theories first started given that the album just dropped, providing her a chance to possibly perform one of the songs (or even “Snow On The Beach” from Midnights) alongside Del Rey tonight.

She could also pop up at any sets tomorrow, as her “Karma” collaborator Ice Spice is performing and so is her record’s producer, Jack Antonoff, with his band Bleachers. At the very least, Swift might just bring back her boyfriend Travis Kelce to take in the tunes from the crowd.

Time will only tell if Swift gets a chance to be on the stage at Coachella this weekend.

The Flower Jars, Vapes, And Edibles You Need To Pick Up For A Lit 4/20

The Flower Jars, Carts, And Edibles You Need To Pick Up For A Lit 4_20(1600x500)
Uproxx

We’re coming up on 4/20. And look, regardless of whether you plan on partaking in the great stoner holiday or not, if you smoke weed recreationally and anyone knows this about you, they’re going to assume you’re psyched to roll up (or vape, or eat). So you might as well just give in.

Sure, people don’t make as big a deal of 4/20 as say, a decade ago. But the date is still shorthand for getting high — which makes it worth celebrating in our book!

To help you to have a truly lit 4/20, we’re shouting out some of our favorite flower jars, vapes, and edibles. For the most part, I’ve stuck to mid to top-shelf brands — so if you’re looking for a deal, this list probably won’t help you there. But if you’re looking to get really baked with some quality herb, we’ve got you.

Flower

Cannabiotix — Whiteout

Cannabiotix

Why We Love It:

A hybrid strain out of premium cannabis brand CBX, Whiteout is a cross between the brand’s Casino Kush and Cereal Milk strains, resulting in a strong euphoric high that will chill you out.

Flavorwise, you’re looking at a mix of sweet and creamy tones with a bit of earthy herbal, and peppery tones. It’s well-balanced and gives off a subtle kush-y aroma that doesn’t dip into being too skunky or pungent. All the senses will be pleased here!

The dominant terpenes include caryophyllene, limonene, and humulene, which should provide a relaxing, euphoric, and relaxing high. Having said that, don’t overdo it here, this strain is about 30%-34% THC so if you aren’t a seasoned smoker, a single hit of this stuff will take you far.

The Bottom Line:

Frosty buds with wirey orange hairs and a pleasant flavor that leans sweet with some light herbaceousness. It tastes as good as it looks and it’ll get you incredibly high, even if you’re a daily toker.

Find CBX here.

Connected — Cherry Fade

Connected

Why We Love It:

If you’re a sucker for purple-flecked buds (we don’t blame you), you’re going to love Connected Cannabis’ Cherry Fade. There is an equal mix of purple in this strain as there is green, and together with its orange wirey hairs and frosty appearance, it’s just a beautiful strain to look at.

Cherry Fade is a hybrid blend of Red Pop and Apples & Banana #20 and features a dry spicy and earthy flavor profile that is straight-up cough-inducing, but in the best way. The high hits fast here, beginning first at the brow and vibrating outwards to the rest of your body. I found this strain to be incredibly relaxing, without putting you into that couch-lock-level laziness.

The Bottom Line:

A peppery and spicy hybrid strain that provides a powerful body high.

Find Connected Cannabis here.

Vapes

Alien Labs — Zkittlez

Why We Love It:

I’m a hardcore Zkittlez fan, the indica-dominant hybrid strain is beloved for its sweet almost fruity flavor and the body-buzzing euphoric high it provides. Alien Labs’ one gram vape battery and cart takes the brand’s indoor-grown flower and filters it down to a live-resin product that retains a lot of the sweet notes of the flower without any of the pungent smell.

It’s also just easier to vape on the go than roll a joint, light it, rather than deal with all the trash afterward, making this a great option if you’re going to be spending your 4/20 on the go. Typically, I’m a flower guy, but I’ve never been disappointed by Alien Labs’ vapes. But be warned, the onset of your high comes on strong, so play it safe, take a hit or two and see how you feel before going hard.

The Bottom Line:

A clean 100% live resin vape that is easily rechargeable and provides most of the magic that a strain this legendary promises.

Find Alien Labs here.

Raw Garden — Bali Sunset (Refined Live Resin Diamonds)

Raw Garden

Why We Love It:

Raw Garden’s Live Resin Diamonds aren’t as all-inclusive as the Alien Labs vapes, you’re going to need your own oil-based vaporizer to enjoy this product, but I love the clean flavor and potent high you get from these tiny live resin rocks.

Bali Sunset is a cross between Grape Pie, Dosi Punch, and Lemon Juice Jones, providing a sweet tropical fruit vibe that imparts a strong and relaxing high. Bali Sunset tends to put me in a snack-y mood, making this a great option if you’re about to enjoy some good food. But, pro-tip: make those eating arrangements before you get high, because this strain might make you too lazy to move.

As such, it’s great for chilling out and relaxing, not really a strain to utilize if you have a packed itinerary ahead of you.

The Bottom Line:

Potent, flavorful, and relaxing. But you’re going to need your own oil-vape to enjoy this, so keep that in mind if you don’t have the gear.

Find Raw Garden here.

Edibles

710 Labs — Hash Rosin Gummies

Dane Rivera

Why We Love It:

The first thing you should know about 710 Labs’ Hash Rosin Gummies is that they aren’t sweet. This isn’t a product that is trying to mimic the flavors of candy, which personally, is something I look for when I’m consuming edibles. So if you like your edibles to taste like a snack, this isn’t the product for you as it tastes plant-y, like cannabis, with just a tiny hint of cane sugar to make it a bit more palpable.

Flavor aside, what you get here is a full-spectrum gummy (made from the rosin used in the brand’s dabs) with 10mg of THC per candy. The high I experienced took about 1 hour to hit me on an empty stomach and provided a strong and intense body buzz that lasted for a few hours. While my tolerance is quite high, a single 10mg gummy was enough for me to feel the high considerably. Something to keep in mind if you feel the urge to pop a second gummy before waiting a full hour.

The Bottom Line:

A natural-tasting gummy that provides a powerful body high.

Find 710 Labs Hash Rosin Gummies here.

Highatus — L’Orange Sour Gummies

Highatus/CBX

Why We Love It:

Highatus is a fairly new edible brand made by the same people behind Cannabiotix, so you know this stuff is going to deliver. Unlike the 710 Labs Hash Rosin Gummies, there is a lot more flavor here. While I wouldn’t say this provides the same sort of sweetness as a sour gummi bear, it does taste a bit more like candy with a bitter plant-y flavor that only appears once you’ve finished chewing the gummy.

For 4/20, I highly suggest L’Orange, a 10mg gummy with a mix of lemon and orange flavors and terpinolene, caryophyllene, and myrcene terpenes which provide a giggle-inducing energetic high that is perfect for kicking off your 4/20. The high here is highly euphoric, but don’t expect a strong body response, the high here is mostly cerebral.

The Bottom Line:

An edible that leans on the sweeter side with an energetic feel-good cerebral high.

Find Highatus Gummies here.

The Best 4/20 Food Deals To Satisfy Your Munchies

4_20_foods(1600x500)
Uproxx

No 4/20 weekend (that’s right we’re going to go ahead and extend it to the full weekend) is complete without two things: great weed, and delicious food. The two go hand in hand, you take a drag — bong hit, edible, dab, however you partake — enjoy the ride and eventually you’re hit with the munchies. And as with sex, deep and relaxing sleep, or travel, food is way better when you’re high.

Being lit allows you to hyper-focus on those nuanced flavor details, it allows you to get lost in the sensations of taste — I say this as a person who has been super high, eaten a strawberry, and then gone the f*ck off on a tangent about how wild it must’ve been to be the first person to ever eat a fruit. Yes, I’m aware that fully sober that sounds moronic, but when you’re high, it’s something you can get stuck on for at least 30 minutes of your one life on earth.

Try it for yourself this 4/20, only instead of a strawberry, eat a burger, or a taco, or some wings — because fast food brands love to celebrate 4/20 just as much as the biggest stoners on earth. To help you find the best snacks to satiate those munchie cravings, we’re naming all the best 4/20 food deals in 2024.

Housing expert reveals her 5 super hacks for hassle-free spring decluttering

If you’re itching to declutter around this time of year, you’re not alone. According to the American Cleaning Institute, 80% of Americans plan to spring clean this year, which is a more than a 10% increase from just 3 years ago. Guess all that working from home will do that to ya.

However, just because many of us are participating in spring cleaning, that doesn’t mean we’ll be maximizing it. With the constant decision making, plus the emotional toll at letting go, it’s a daunting task that can leave folks feeling drained, rather than refreshed.

But with a few small tweaks, spring cleaning really can be the cathartic, freeing activity we long for it to be.

Sofia Vyshnevska, a housing expert and co-founder at NewHomesMate, shared her 5 ultimate life hacks for easy and hassle-free spring decluttering. Try one—or all—of these super simple strategies for a clean home and a clear mind.

The Reverse Hanger Trick

spring cleaning, decluttering, cleaning tips

In a sea of wardrobe decluttering hacks, this one stands out for how it “effortlessly streamlines your wardrobe,” says Sofia.

Here’s how it works: turn all your closet hangers backwards at the start of spring and only turn back those you wear throughout the season. Once summer nears, go through your clothing and donate or sell any items that are still facing backwards. You can even rinse and repeat this throughout the year.

Considering that so many of us have way too many clothes that we don’t actually use, this trick could really come in handy for gleaning the pieces that actually suit our taste and lifestyle.

“If you’ve gone months without picking it out, chances are you never will.”

The Four-Box Method

spring cleaning, decluttering, cleaning tips

Ever gotten halfway through an organizing frenzy when that adrenaline suddenly wears off and you’re sitting in a pile of random stuff with no idea what to do? This is a great way to keep that compartmentalizing going even when the motivation disappears.

Sort everything you own into four boxes: keep, donate/sell, trash, and relocate.

Much like Marie Kondo, Sofia advises to “make quick decisions and don’t let sentimental value cloud your judgment” and you’ll have a clutter-free home in no time.

And if sentimentality is clouding your judgment and making parting with things difficult, read on…

The Rehoming Hack

spring cleaning, decluttering, cleaning tips

This is a great way to discover what really should be taking up space in your heart, and your home.

“Whenever you find an item you no longer love, but feel you should hold on to, place it in an empty box and, once full, put it away out of sight. Give it a few weeks, then go back and sort through them again,” Sofia suggests. “You’ll likely realize that you didn’t miss these items and letting them go isn’t so hard after all.”

And if there’s still some hesitation, you could also take a photo of these items and create an album which takes up a lot less space while still giving you all the joy the actual item previously did.

Tactical Tidying

spring cleaning, decluttering, cleaning tips

It can be tempting to start our spring cleaning by delving into the messy pantry or tucked away storage areas, but with “tactical tidying,” you go for the most visible areas first. That way you’re “constantly reminded of the difference it makes, which will provide the motivation you need to get the job done,” instead of tired and deflated in a couple of hours.

Zone-Based Decluttering

spring cleaning, decluttering, cleaning tips

Zone-based decluttering also helps us avoid the all-too-common “decluttering fatigue,” explains Sofia. Rather that trying to cram all the cleaning into a single weekend, spread out each room, or zone, throughout a couple of days.

Here’s an example of what zone-based decluttering might look like.

“Start by removing debris and organizing your patio furniture to get your outside space ready for the warmer weather. Tomorrow, get to work on the kitchen—clear the countertops, tidy your cabinets and clean out the refrigerator. Next week? Tackle the storage spaces, organize your electronics, and scrub your upholstery. Then on to your bedrooms, where you need to declutter your nightstand, change your bedding, and switch out your winter wardrobe.”

It’s easy to see how this helps us actually go through the clutter without subjecting ourselves to burnout. Cause at the end of the day, spring cleaning should be energizing, right?

As a bonus, Sofia added some thoughts on the four main types of clutter and how to remove them in a way that good for us and for the planet:

  • Clothing: You might not want it, but there’s likely someone who does. Don’t toss it in the trash until you’ve checked whether local charities, shelters, or thrift stores will take it off your hands.
  • Electronics: Don’t make your clutter the planet’s problem. Recycle any unwanted electronics through a certified e-waste recycling center to avoid causing environmental harm.
  • Furniture: if it’s in usable condition, sell it online or donate it to a charity, shelter, or community center. Otherwise, contact local waste management to find out how to dispose of or, better yet, recycle it.
  • Non-perishable food: Don’t do the easiest thing; do the right thing. Rather than throwing it away, food banks, shelters, and community organizations will happily take any food you don’t want.

Lastly, but very important in today’s world—let’s talk about the importance of digital decluttering.

spring cleaning, decluttering, cleaning tips

Walter Gjergja, Shaolin Temple secular monk, mindfulness and well-being expert, and co-founder of the personal trainer app Zing Coach, wisely notes:

“Clutter doesn’t just invade our space; it invades our minds too.…those with cluttered lives tend to procrastinate on important tasks — and digital clutter is no exception. Once you’re done spring cleaning your home, it’s time to clear your inbox and clean your desktop.”

To do this, Gjergja suggests deleting unimportant emails, organizing your files and uploading any you don’t frequently need to cloud storage, plus deleting any unused apps from your home screen.

“You’ll be surprised just how much decluttering your digital space can free up the mind.”

Today (April 19) is of course all about Taylor Swift, as the music landscape has focused pretty much exclusively on her new album, The Tortured Poets Department. ‘Furiosa’ Has A ‘Mad Max: Fury Road’-Like Stunt Sequence That Took Over Two Months To Shoot

Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga Anya Taylor Joy
Warner Bros

As George Miller prepares to unleash his highly-anticipated prequel, Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga, some fans have been concerned that the new film starring Anya Taylor-Joy might not match the same technical level as Mad Max: Fury Road.

Well, worry no more.

According to the latest issue of Total Film, Furiosa reportedly includes a 15-minute action sequence called the “Stairway to Nowhere” that took 78 days to shoot. That’s over two months, and much like the wildly intricate stunt work on Fury Road, the sequence involved the use of nearly 200 stunt people every single day.

“George and I would have these big conversations about why this particular set-piece was so long,” Taylor-Joy told Total Film. “It’s because you see an accumulation of skills over the course of a battle, and that’s very important for understanding how resourceful Furiosa is, but also her grit. It’s the longest sequence any of us have ever shot. On the day we finished, everybody got a ‘Stairway To Nowhere’ wine!”

Here’s the official synopsis for Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga:

As the world fell, young Furiosa is snatched from the Green Place of Many Mothers and falls into the hands of a great Biker Horde led by the Warlord Dementus. Sweeping through the Wasteland, they come across the Citadel presided over by The Immortan Joe. While the two Tyrants war for dominance, Furiosa must survive many trials as she puts together the means to find her way home.

Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga rides into theaters on May 24.

Sydney Sweeney Sang ‘Unwritten’ At Karaoke While Dressed As A Pirate, For Some Reason

anyone but you
sony

Natasha Bedingfield got a Kate Bush on Stranger Things-like bump in popularity when her 2004 adult contemporary classic “Unwritten” was played in Anyone But You. Not just once, either, but multiple times, including over the end credits. (Cast sing-alongs as the credits roll? Rom-coms are back.) “Unwritten” still must mean a lot to Anyone But You star Sydney Sweeney, as she recently sang it at karaoke while dressed as a pirate.

“what’s a pirates favorite letter?” the actress wrote on Instagram, along with photos where she’s at sea with a bunch of other people dressed as buccaneers (and one plastic skeleton). She also included the video where she’s singing “Unwritten.” Is she auditioning for the next Pirates of the Caribbean? Cue the conservative outrage over pirates being woke now.

Earlier this year, Bedingfield told British GQ about how “Unwritten” ended up in Anyone But You. “I get a lot of requests for my different songs to go in movies, but I love when it’s a rom-com because I really am a rom-com fan. My publishers [said] it’s being used a lot, and I’m like, ‘Yeah, yeah,’ and then I watched it and wow. They told me they actually sang the song in every single scene,” she said. It was a bop then, and it’s still a bop now.

Quick-thinking mom finds her lost toddler in a Kmart thanks to TikTok hack

There are few things as frightening to a parent than losing your child in a crowded place like a shopping mall, zoo, or stadium. The moment you realize your child is missing, it’s impossible not to consider the terrifying idea they may have been kidnapped.

A woman in New Zealand recently lost her son in a Kmart but was able to locate him because of a potentially life-saving parenting hack she saw on TikTok a few months ago.

The woman was shopping at the retailer when she realized her two-year-old son Nathan was missing. She immediately told a friend to alert the staff to ensure he didn’t leave through the store’s front exit.

“Another friend searched the area he was last seen,” the mom wrote in a Facebook post.

The mother began looking for him by rummaging through clothes racks and running through the aisles.

It was the “scariest 10 minutes of my life” she later wrote.

But then she remembered a parenting hack she saw on TikTok by blogger Jess Martini. “If your child goes missing, screw the stares and start calling out their description,” the mother recalled.

“I’m missing a little boy, he’s wearing a yellow shirt and has brown hair. He’s two years old and his name is Nathan!” she called out to the rest of the store while reminding herself not to “break down” in tears.

“You need people to understand you loud and clear,” she said.

The mother’s calls immediately deputized everyone who heard them to begin looking for the child. It was like multiplying the search by a factor of 10. “I turned an aisle and heard ‘He’s here!'” she wrote. “I turned back the way I came and there he was. A man had walked past him after hearing me calling out.”

She immediately thanked the man, realizing that if she hadn’t called out he may have never known the child was missing. “Nate would have walked past him and he wouldn’t have blinked,” she said.

In November, parenting blogger Jess Martini posted a video sharing the best way for parents to locate a missing child. It’s great advice because the knee-jerk response is usually to just call out their name or silently run around looking.

@jesmartini PSA that I feel can save kids and I’ve used- if your child goes missing in public #momsoftiktok #PSA #nojudgement #fyp #4up #besafe #parentsoftiktok ♬ original sound – Jess martini

“To all parents out there, if your child goes missing, do not search in silence or just call out their name,’ Martini says in the video. “Shout out loud and clear. Say they’re missing, give a description and repeat, repeat, repeat!”

“Everyone will be on alert, and if someone is trying to take off with your kid, it will decrease the chances of them getting away,” she added.

The advice is a great reminder to make a mental note of what your child is wearing when you go out, so if they go missing, you can easily provide a description. It also proof that when a parent needs help, most people are more than willing to lend a hand.
