Unlike the former president, Jon Stewart was fully alert and ready to take on Donald Trump‘s hush money trial that kicked off on Monday. Like any good comedian, The Daily Show host immediately latched on to reports that Trump fell asleep during the court proceedings. An ironic move given Trump’s penchant for repeatedly accusing Joe Biden of being “sleepy.”
“Imagine committing so many crimes, you get bored at your own trial,” Stewart quipped. “Move on to the good stuff!”
Trump is on trial for allegedly falsifying financial records to hide a hush money payment to adult film star Stormy Daniels, so she would not come forward during the 2016 election and reveal that she and Trump had an affair. Naturally, Trump has denied any wrongdoing and made sure to grandstand outside of the courthouse that the charges are “political persecution.”
“It’s a case that should have never been brought,” Trump said via Rolling Stone. “It’s an assault of America, and that’s why I’m very proud to be here.”
“Well, it’s true,” Stewart joked. “Trump is always very proud to be part of any assault on America.”
The Daily Show host and cast members Ronny Chieng and Desi Lydic spent the rest of the segment mocking Trump for comparing himself to both Jesus Christ and Nelson Mandela. The three argued which best represents Trump before correspondent Josh Johnson came in with a third suggestion: Trump is the new O.J. Simpson.
You can watch Stewart go to town on Trump’s hush money trail at the 8:49 mark below:

On “Firework,” Katy Perry sings, “Baby, you’re a firework / Come on, let your colors burst.” But something else burst while the pop star was filming American Idol: her top.
Perry suffered a wardrobe malfunction during the episode of the competition series (which she’s departing as a judge after this season) that aired on Monday. The New York Post reports that “the incident occurred before Top 14 hopeful Roman Collins took the stage to sing James Brown’s ‘It’s A Man’s Man’s Man’s World.’ According to Perry, the chrome crop top she was wearing appeared to come loose at the back.” The nice thing about the top is that if it breaks again, she can use it as a hood ornament for a car.
Perry shared a clip of what happened on Instagram. “my top broke,” she wrote, along with footage of herself being tended to by the American Idol crew. Perry joked, “If it’s not fixed, this show is gonna get more than it wanted.” One of her fellow judges, country star Luke Bryan, offered to help out, but that might have been out of guilt for causing the malfunction.
Judge Lionel Richie told Entertainment Tonight, “Luke knocked the top off, I’ll tell you all the truth. And then Luke spent the rest of the time going, ‘I’m so sorry, I’m so sorry.’ But he was definitely apologetic and then he tried to put it back together and that looked worse than the whole thing.”
As for Collins, Perry joked that his performance was so good, it “broke my top off. I guess it is a woman’s world.”
Here is what I love about chicken nuggets – unlike most fast food menu options, nuggets are functional as a full meal but more importantly a side order. If you go the full meal route, you can generally order eight, ten, or beyond at most fast food restaurants, and paired with fries and a drink this is a satisfying protein-rich meal. But if nuggets sound like a boring meal you can always opt for that big juicy cheeseburger and then simply get some nuggets on the side, giving you the best of both worlds. That’s generally the route I take, and I can’t do that with other menu options like a chicken sandwich.
Think about it — a double bacon cheeseburger with a whole a** chicken sandwich on the side? That’s some last-meal sh*t. Nuggets allow you to have your cake and eat it too. And because we love fast food here at Uproxx, we’re obsessed with finding the absolute best.
Last year, that was Chick-fil-A. Not only did we name the brand the best nuggets in fast food, we even put them to a blind taste test against five other brands, and they still came out on top. But there are new nuggets on the scene, so we’re ready to put them to the test against the champ in our second chicken nugget blind taste test. Let’s see if any of the new birds can step to the current king!
Methodology
For this blind taste test, I rounded up four different orders of chicken nuggets, all from fast food restaurants that were luckily relatively close to one another. In total, it took me about 20 minutes to round up all of these nuggets and return home. All four were still warm, and either way, nuggets tend to travel better than any other fast food dish, so I wasn’t too worried about them degrading in flavor with the transit time.
Two of these nuggets, McDonald’s Spicy Chicken McNuggets and Burger King’s Fiery Buffalo Nuggets, were just launched, while KFC’s chicken nuggets debuted last year but didn’t make our first blind taste test. Our full tasting class for today includes:
Burger King — Fiery Buffalo Nuggets
Chick-fil-a — Nuggets
KFC — Kentucky Fried Chicken Nuggets
McDonald’s — Spicy Chicken Nuggets
Once home, I had my girlfriend shuffle up each box of nuggets and serve me one at a time while I wore a blindfold. I tasted each, recorded some initial impressions into a voice recorder, and ranked each accordingly. Here are the results.
Part 1: The Blind Chicken Nugget Taste Test
Taste 1:
There is a pungent aroma to this one, it’s a bit sour and peppery and almost smells sauced. The chicken itself doesn’t seem like it has a sauce though, it’s not quite as crunchy as I would expect. The flavor is dominated by a mix of black pepper and tangy buffalo. There isn’t a lot of meat flavor here. I don’t know where I stand on this one, it’s enjoyable to eat but I don’t know if I’m completely sold.
Taste 2:
Juicy, tender, a little briney, and meaty. There is a good balance of everything here, it has a satisfying crunch, a deep flavor that combines pepper, and garlic powder, and a tender texture. A significant step up from Taste 1.
Taste 3:
This one has a lot of the qualities of Taste 2 — it’s crunchy, heavily seasoned (mostly black pepper), and very meaty, but where the last nugget was tender this one is a bit dry and tough. Almost like it’s been over-fried, or re-fried.
Taste 4:
Because I had these recently and they have a distinct airy and crispy texture, I can tell that this is McDonald’s new Spicy Chicken McNugget. I’ll try not to let that sway my opinion too much, but I like the crunchy texture and cayenne-heavy seasoning. Unfortunately, this isn’t quite hitting, it lacks that satisfying meaty quality of Taste 2.
Part 2: The Blind Chicken Nugget Ranking
4. KFC — Kentucky Fried Chicken Nuggets (Taste 3)
Coming in last place today are KFC’s fairly new nuggets. This is a surprise for me because I think the quality of this nugget is quite high. It’s clearly going for a Chick-fil-A style nugget, which is an improvement over the brand’s old Popcorn Chicken. But KFC lacks some serious quality control, these were the last nuggets I picked up and yet they were the most lukewarm.
The flavor was great but the chicken was way too dry to be truly enjoyable.
The Bottom Line:
It has the makings of a great chicken nugget, but a lack of quality control keeps it from truly shining.
3. Burger King — Fiery Buffalo Nuggets (Taste 1)
This was a tough one, go ahead and consider number 3 and number 2 essentially tied. I’m still not sure if these nuggets have sauce on them, if they do they’re tossed with such a light amount that the nugget still retains its crunch, which is a good thing. This is a sharp improvement over Burger King’s regular chicken nuggets which I’ve always found to be a bit dry and chalky.
Ultimately, I gave this nugget the bronze because I don’t like the tangy flavor of buffalo sauce over the clean heat of cayenne (you can probably guess our number 2 choice by now). Having said that, this is worth trying if you’re already a BK fan.
The Bottom Line:
The best new Burger King menu item in a while! Expect slightly sweet tangy heat.
2. McDonald’s — Spicy Chicken McNuggets (Taste 4)
Call me crazy, but if McDonald’s decided to ditch its original McNuggets and replace them instead with these, I wouldn’t complain. Now, granted, I like spicy chicken so these aren’t for everyone, but more fast food menus should reflect my taste, not yours!
I’m kidding, but really, you should try these if you love McDonald’s McNuggets, or like spicy chicken. It is, currently, the best spicy nugget you’re going to find in all of fast food.
The Bottom Line:
A must-eat, but unfortunately, not as tender, meaty, or nuanced as our number one choice.
1. Chick-fil-A — Chicken Nuggets (Taste 2)
The champ remains the champ. You hate to see it! I would’ve loved for one of the new nuggets on the scene to dethrone Chick-fil-A but none of the nuggets we tasted today came close to tasting as good as these do. The flavor of the breading is deeper and more flavorful than anything else on the market, and the chicken itself is tender.
Where most fast food chicken nuggets need sauce for them to be really enjoyable, these nuggets are delicious and addicting even when completely sauceless. Because of that, dipping sauce elevates and accentuates the base flavors here. And considering Chick-fil-A has something like 10 sauces, you have all sorts of variations on the flavor that you can customize to your particular tastes.
The Bottom Line:
Simply the best chicken nuggets in all of fast food. I’m waiting for the day another brand can dethrone the king, but it’s looking like that isn’t going to happen anytime soon.
Back in February, an X (formerly Twitter) user tweeted, “@KiDCuDi You and Gambino gotta work on something whether it’s TV, movies, or music we’d love to see/hear it! Your guys’ song Warlords needs an official release!” Kid Cudi shared the tweet and replied, “Im cool.”
This seemingly indicated Cudi has some sort of issue with Donald Glover/Childish Gambino, although based on publicly available information, it’s not clear why. Whatever the case, Glover has addressed it.
As HotNewHipHop notes, during a recent Instagram Live broadcast, a fan asked Glover for his thoughts on Cudi. Glover said, “Kid Cudi, if you got a problem, like, I’m not here for the beef. Just, like, talk to me. […] ‘Cause it’s like, we don’t have to agree on everything, but we also don’t have to be like, ‘Yeah, when I see you, we have to want to kill each other.’ I don’t… man, life is too short.”
Childish Gambino (Donald Glover) speaks briefly on Kid Cudi beef, wants to talk it and let it go pic.twitter.com/BYR601cCUl
Back in the day, early in Glover’s music career, he opened for Cudi and didn’t have an awesome time. He reminisced about that last year, saying, “At the time, I had a full band and a violinist. I just kept turning to the band and telling them, ‘Next song! Next song!’ I put on a really intense show through the boos.”
It’s a moment late-night hosts wait years for: a former president nodding off during his own trial. On Monday, Maggie Haberman of the New York Timesreported that Donald Trump “appeared to nod off a few times, his mouth going slack and his head drooping onto his chest” while “a judge was hearing arguments on last-minute issues in a criminal case that centers on salacious allegations and threatens to upend his bid for the presidency.”
Trump denied he was out like a light, with his campaign calling it “100% fake news,” but it was too late: “Don Snorleone” was already trending on Twitter. He was also the talk of the late-night shows.
“If Biden is Sleepy Joe, I guess that makes you Dozo the Clown,” joked Jimmy Kimmel during his monologue on Jimmy Kimmel Live. “Imagine if Joe Biden fell asleep in the court on the first day of his trial. Trump would be calling him ‘Comatose Joe.’ Fox News would be talking about this until Christmas. But not old Donny Nappleseed.” He continued:
“Multiple reports said Trump’s head drooped until his chin hit his chest, which, I don’t know, maybe he was just following the price of his Truth Social stock. Either way, it’s nice to see even Donald Trump is exhausted by Donald Trump.”
Taylor Swift is beloved by pretty much everybody, as her massive and somehow still-growing popularity over the past few years has proven. There are some outliers, though, and that includes Courtney Love.
In a recent interview for The Standard, Love shared her thoughts on a number of music’s biggest stars. She said of Swift, “Taylor is not important. She might be a safe space for girls, and she’s probably the Madonna of now, but she’s not interesting as an artist.”
“It’s great that there are so many successful women in the music industry, but lots of them are becoming a cliché. Now, every successful woman is cloned, so there is just too much music. They’re all the same. If you play something on Spotify, you get bombarded with a lot of stuff that’s exactly the same. I mean, I like the idea of Beyoncé doing a country record because it’s about Black women going into spaces where previously only white women have been allowed, not that I like it much. As a concept, I love it. I just don’t like her music.”
Love isn’t huge on Lana Del Rey either, saying, “I haven’t liked Lana since she covered a John Denver song, and I think she should really take seven years off. Up until ‘Take Me Home Country Roads’ I thought she was great. When I was recording my new album, I had to stop listening to her as she was influencing me too much.”
Bobby Portis is in his fourth season with the Milwaukee Bucks, where he quickly became a fan favorite as the spark plug off the bench during their championship run in 2021. This year, Portis played all 82 games for the Bucks, averaging 13.8 points and 7.4 rebounds per game while hitting 40.7 percent of his threes, but there were rumblings in late January that Milwaukee was considering a shakeup.
The Bucks landed the 2-seed, but it’s not been the kind of season they hoped for after acquiring Damian Lillard (as evidenced by a midseason coaching change). As such, when the deadline was approaching, there were rumors the Bucks wanted to shuffle around their roster some and Portis’ name came up in some of those rumors, including rumored discussions with Dallas to bring Grant Williams to Milwaukee. To a lot of people, that trade didn’t make a ton of sense, as Williams was not having a great year in Dallas and didn’t seem like a considerable upgrade over Portis — especially considering his locker room presence.
Portis was among those that felt that way, as he gave an incredible response to Shams Charania (5:00 mark of the below video) when asked about how “real” those rumors were, confirming his agent said he had a “bad feeling” about the deadline but noting a trade for Williams never added up in his mind.
Bucks’ Bobby Portis on @Stadium: “When I got hints of it, I’m like, ain’t no way I’m getting traded for…excuse my French, that’s my guy, I love competing against him…but I shouldn’t get traded for Grant Williams. That don’t even sound right.”
“When I got hints of it, I’m like, ain’t no way I’m getting traded for – excuse my French, that’s my guy I love competing against him – but I shouldn’t get traded for Grant Williams. That don’t even sound right,” Portis said. “I seen that little clip and thing came on my phone and I was like, I don’t know how that even moves the needle. The things I do and the things he can help the team do are just…different. I don’t know how it went down or what shook out, but I’m fortunate and happy that I’m with this organization. … Wouldn’t be right, man. Trade rumors are never fun for anybody.”
Ultimately, the Bucks chose to mostly stand pat (they did trade for Patrick Beverley) and Portis has continued playing an important role for them as their sixth man. Williams, meanwhile, was moved off to Charlotte and it’s not clear whether Milwaukee had real interest in Williams or if that was Dallas looking to drum up some interest in the forward, but it’s clear Portis didn’t understand why he was connected in those rumors.
