At this point, what does everyone expect Rihanna to say? Rihanna has been asked ad nauseam about the status of what would be her first album since 2016’s ANTI. Rihanna has not released any new music, save for “Lift Me Up” for the 2022 Black Panther: Wakanda Forever soundtrack, but she was asked about new music again over the weekend.
“It’s gonna be amazing,” Rihanna told Extra at her Fenty Beauty Soft’lit launch in Los Angeles. “It has to be — that is the only reason it’s not out yet. If I’m not feeling it, and I’m not feeling like it represents the evolution, the time I spent away. There should be a show of growth, right? I want to play, and I feel like music is a playground, and I want to have fun with it and show truly where I am at.”
These comments came less than 10 days after Rihanna spoke about unreleased music while attending her Fenty x Puma Creeper Phatty Earth Tone launch event in London.
“I already got stuff that I feel like I could make hits out of,” Rihanna told Entertainment Tonight earlier this month. “Me and [her partner, ASAP] Rocky are really trying to figure out who’s gonna use what because it’s so good.”
Actors are not the characters they portray on television. Sure, William Shatner is arrogant yet undeniably likable, just like James T. Kirk on Star Trek, but he’s never been to space… OK, bad example, but you know what I mean. The point is, just because Rainn Wilson played Dwight Schrute on The Office, that doesn’t mean total strangers can “prank” him with various items encased in Jell-O.
While appearing at Homeboy Industries’ Lo Maximo 2024 Awards Dinner over the weekend, Wilson told People, “I posted that thing on Instagram about my silverware and Jell-O in Italy. My fear is that I won’t be able to go anywhere without stuff being put in Jell-O.”
Jim Halpert (played by John Krasinski) pulled the “puts items in Jell-O” prank on Dwight three times over the course of nine seasons of The Office, including in the pilot with the stapler. Jim was not only a villain, he was also lazy.
Wilson continued, “I’ll go valet park, and then my car keys will be in Jell-O. And I’ll go to a baseball game, and the baseball will be in Jell-O. And the list goes on and on. So I hope people cool it with the Jell-O jokes. That’s all. Unless it’s edible. I will eat my weight in Jell-O.” He was joking, but also not. Maybe Wilson wouldn’t mind the joke as much if it involved a better desert than Jell-O. An Oreo-based prank? Now that’s more like it.
Marvel Studios and Disney are looking to right the MCU ship that has been wavering with a less plentiful theatrical audience over the past few years. The general consensus is that there has simply been too much interwoven content, including Disney+ shows, which has likely left some viewers feeling as though they need to do “homework” before heading to the multiplex. That takes the fun away from the formerly frivolous Ant-Man, and the issue further spiraled while The Marvels added X-Men to the mix. Yet if anyone can breathe fresh life into comic book movies at the box office (and more gracefully bring those uncanny mutants into the fold), it’s the wisecracking Deadpool.
Promo for the R-rated MCU movie (a first) even includes the Merc With The Mouth calling himself “Marvel Jesus,” not only because he loves to bust the Fourth Wall but because the MCU could use some resurrection. Now, director Shawn Levy is straight-up telling folks that they shouldn’t fret if they skipped Marvel classes because will Deadpool & Wolverine still be pleasurable even if you haven’t had time to watch dozens of movies and 10 or so TV shows. 2024 is a new era, baby. Via the Associated Press, school is out for summer:
“I was a good student in school. I’ll do my homework as an adult. But I am definitely not looking to do homework when I go to the movies.
“I very much made this film with certainly a healthy respect and gratitude towards the rabid fan base that has peak fluency in the mythology and lore of these characters and this world. But I didn’t want to presume that. This movie is built for entertainment, with no obligation to come prepared with prior research.”
Of course, it certainly will not hurt if viewers watched Loki in advance, given that the Time Variance Authority will figure into this film, but it sounds like Levy has honed in on what Deadpool viewers want, which is sheer smartass fun with no requirements to watch. In other words, you don’t have to watch Doctor Strange and the Multiverse of Madness to enjoy the chimichanga jokes, but please do enjoy those Deadpool 2 post-credit moments again — not as homework but because they ruled.
The Minnesota Timberwolves are the first team to punch their ticket to the conference semifinals. Despite many pundits predicting a long and difficult series against the Phoenix Suns, Minnesota took care of business in four games, capping things off with an Anthony Edwards-led win in Game 4 on Sunday night that gave the franchise its first playoff series win in 20 years.
In the lead-up to the game, much was made of how the Suns went all-in on building a roster to compete right now, and how that experiment was on the verge of flopping in spectacular fashion. At one point, Bradley Beal was asked about the possibility of getting swept, and made clear that he was not going to let that happen.
Unfortunately for Beal, the worst-case scenario happened, as he struggled and fouled out of the 122-116 loss. And after the game, the admins behind the Wolves’ Twitter account decided to prod Beal a bit by making fun of his prediction.
Now, the Timberwolves get to sit at home and wait to see if the Denver Nuggets can take care of business against the Los Angeles Lakers in Game 5 of their series on Monday night. As for the Suns, well, they’ve got a number of questions they’re going to have to answer this offseason, but it stands to reason that Beal — whose contract includes a full no-trade clause — will be back next season.
Keeping up with new music can be exhausting, even impossible. From the weekly album releases to standalone singles dropping on a daily basis, the amount of music is so vast it’s easy for something to slip through the cracks. Even following along with the Uproxx recommendations on a daily basis can be a lot to ask, so every Monday we’re offering up this rundown of the best new music this week.
This week saw Normani’s debut album finally get closer and PartyNextDoor set a vibe. Yeah, it was a great week for new music. Check out the highlights below.
At long, long last, we have a release date for Normani’s debut album: Dopamine is set to drop on June 14. Normani revealed that news last week as she shared “1:59,” a sultry new single featuring Gunna.
PartyNextDoor — “For Certain”
PND kicked off April by sending the internet into a frenzy over the nude woman pictured on the very sexual PartyNextDoor 4 cover art. Behind the attention grabbing photo, though, is an album that’s out now, and among the highlights is “For Certain,” a smooth and mellow number fit for late nights.
Anitta — “Grip”
Anitta went all in on bringing Brazilian funk to the masses with her new album, Funk Generation. “Grip” is a short and sweet taste, clocking in at under two minutes but packing quite a punch during that limited time.
St. Vincent — “Big Time Nothing”
St. Vincent’s All Born Screaming was one of the week’s headlining album releases and it’s not hard to see why. She has a proven track record and she extends her winning streak with songs like “Big Time Nothing,” which is propelled by a weighty groove.
Tems — “Love Me JeJe”
After becoming a star in recent years, Tems is gearing up to drop Born In The Wild, her debut studio album that’s due in May. She offered a preview last week with “Love Me JeJe,” a soulful little banger with a catchy hook.
Justice and Tame Impala — “Neverender”
Tame Impala’s Kevin Parker has been collaborating with just about everybody in recent years, it feels like. He has expanded that list now with a couple of appearances on the new Justice album, Hyperdrama. “Neverender” combines Parker’s signature psychedelic sensibilities with Justice’s established electronic dance prowess.
Cash Cobain and Bay Swag — “Fisherrr (Remix)” Feat. Ice Spice
Ice Spice can’t be stopped right now (except by spicy wings). Now she has lent her powers to Cash Cobain and Bay Swag’s viral hit “Fisherrr” by contributing a risqué verse to a new remix.
Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross — “Challengers: Match Point”
The Nine Inch Nails duo provided the score for Challengers, the hot new movie of the moment. Of course, as is the case with everything Reznor and Ross touch, it kicks ass, and tunes like “Challengers: Match Point” are as ready for the club as they are the silver screen.
NewJeans — “Bubble Gum”
After a major 2023 that saw Get Up become NewJeans’ first No. 1 album, the K-pop favorites are keeping the momentum going in 2024. They dropped “Bubble Gum” last week and it’s a perfectly warm slice of pop ready for summer playlists.
Killer Mike, Offset, and Blxst — “Exit 9”
Mike made some slight tweaks to his and Blxst’s “Exit 9” for a new remix: They worked Offset into the fold and Mike pays tribute to late producer Rico Wade, saying in a new line, “It hurts like hell to say but rest in peace to Rico Wade / He soundtracked the day when me and Slee were serving J.”

Billie Eilish’s Hit Me Hard And Soft: The Tour Posters
You can be mad at Netflix for a lot of things — canceling the very good show Teenage Bounty Hunter after only one season, for one — but you also “gotta hand it to them” when the streaming service does something right. Like tweet a photo of Sydney Sweeney and Glen Powell touching each other’s butts.
Over the weekend, the official Netflix account tweeted, “sydney sweeney [handshake emoji] glen powell,” along with a still from Anyone But You where Sweeney and Powell’s characters pretend to be a couple during a hike by sticking their hand down the other’s pants. Now that’s how you promote the romantic-comedy being added to streaming.
“That was the moment where I thought this could be the end of my career, right here, right now on this cliff side,” Powell joked to People about shooting the scene. But he got through it thanks to Sweeney. “The key to a great partner in that journey is someone who’s not afraid to look dumb, and who’s in it with you, and not protective. Sydney’s just vulnerable,” the Twisters star continued. “She just throws her heart onto film and throws herself in the deep end, and is the first person to be goofy in front of everybody.”
My girlfriend and I first date was watching this movie. The fact that she kept dating me after watching me drool over not only Sydney Sweeney by Glenn Powell is proof enough that she’s the best. https://t.co/9Zr1JNb09g
In the edgy comedy Anyone But You, Bea (Sydney Sweeney) and Ben (Glen Powell) look like the perfect couple, but after an amazing first date something happens that turns their fiery hot attraction ice cold – until they find themselves unexpectedly thrust together at a destination wedding in Australia. So they do what any two mature adults would do: pretend to be a couple.
Now, we have reached the next natural step: Eilish just announced Hit Me Hard And Soft: The Tour. So far, shows in North America, Europe, the UK, Ireland, and Australia have been announced, between September 2024 and July 2025.

Hit Me Hard And Soft is out 5/17 via Interscope and Dark Room. Find more information here.
According to People, “Puth reposted the sixth slide in Swift’s carousel post of behind-the-scenes photos she had shared of her making the album along with her reaction. The image showed Swift sitting indoors in a recording booth with headphones over her ears printed on a disc.”
Does being mentioned on one of the biggest albums in years officially make Puth a bigger artist?
In the Instagram post, Swift wrote, “My mind is blown. I’m completely floored by the love you’ve shown this album. 2.6 million ARE YOU ACTUALLY SERIOUS??” The Tortured Poets Department sold 2.6 million copies in its first week of release, third most for any album, by any artist, in the SoundScan era.
She continued, “Thank you for listening, streaming, and welcoming Tortured Poets into your life. Feeling completely overwhelmed. I was already so fired up to get back to the tour but you doing THIS?? May 9th can’t come soon enough.” You can see the post below.
Justin Bieber’s latest social media activity is raising some questions: In an Instagram gallery shared on April 27, two of the images are Bieber selfies taken in quick succession. In both of them, the artist sports a solemn expression as tears stream down his cheeks.
Many commenters were wondering what was going on, like one who wrote, “why u crying tho,” and another who said, “Plzz tell me why were u crying.. I’m dyyyiiinnggg to know !!.” Others came through with sympathy and support, such as the commenter who wrote, “Don’t cry my mate, give it all to Jesus for He cares for YOU!,” or the one who said, “I love that you’re not afraid to show your vulnerability and emotions. It’s always great to remember that behind every single celebrities, there’s still a human being. YOU ARE LOVED.”
Hailey Bieber even popped in the comments to write, “a pretty crier.”
Justin has stayed relatively out of the spotlight in recent times, ever since he postponed his 2022 tour due to Ramsay Hunt syndrome, which caused partial facial paralysis. There were rumors he was going to join Usher for this year’s Super Bowl Haltime Show, and while Usher confirmed he did ask, Bieber ultimately passed. Bieber did just make a cameo at this year’s Coachella, though.
